Which determines room request fulfillment: ressie date or check-in time?

I was under the impression, from members on this board and cms, that how far in advance you make your ressie determines the extent to which your room request will be fulfilled NOT check in time. We are thinking of checking in later next trip so we don't have to get up so early and I just want to make sure that we won't be jeapordizing room request fulfillment.

I have not experienced it yet but it seems from what I have read on these boards that it has been changed to a system that assigns rooms when you check in based on availability at that time.

One of the resons given was that Disney was getting lots of complaints from people whose rooms were not ready. This system will allow people to have their rooms sooner.

I'll decide after my December trip whether I like this new system or not.

I think it is only fair that requests be made based on who booked first, not who si abel to show up first that morning. We usually drive down in a day and stay offsite close by and check in in the morning so thsi new policy shoudl be fien for us, but really i don't think it seems fair for say a family that planned out 11 or even 7 months but fly in late and get the dumpster view! :eek: But, the other family who booked 3 montsh out shows up bright and early and gets great rom. Just doesn't seem fair, but I imagine thsi is easier for the resort. I'd imagine it is difficult the other original way.
So are these request we make even looked at now? Are there room assignors at the DVc resorts?

DVC changed this a couple of months ago. It's called "room ready". When you arrive they will search for an open room that's ready for occupancy that meets at least one of your requests. However, some people returning have reported that their room was already assigned. Your best bet is to check-in as early as possible.
