The Doc's are in the mail.....
Due to a water shortage the pools will be closed until further notice.

Do the docs usually come by mail or Fed Ex? The DCL employee I spoke to said they come by Fed Ex (UPS, etc) but not by mail. I gave her my street address, not my post office box number.
So . . . . if they send them via the post office, I won't get them. That means someone at the post office might be on the cruise impersonating me. . . :-(
Seriously, though, I can hardly believe that the cruise is right around the corner. I want to dig my suitcases out and start packing right now.
Someone on another thread said room service will deliver to the laundry rooms. That almost feels sneaky, like when I used to hide the kind of candy bars that I like in Tupperware containers marked "cotton balls" in the bathroom. It was the only way I could be sure that the kids wouldn't find my secret supply of Snickers and eat them all. It's amazing how sneaky we can get when we have children.

Hi All,
Need the cruise more today than yesterday...after 5 tearful, hysterical phone calls finally got transportation for DS for his new school on Monday. Mind you this was promised in May...I really, really, hate the whole special ed process...turns a normal dignified human being into a basket case...the only reason my child gets what he needs is that the district knows I'll fight. It is so hard being on two sides...yesterday I sat in on two IEPs...made certain my students got what they needed, but also made certain my director of special ed was happy...not an easy tightrope to walk.
The news about Sophie is horrible...I was afraid of something like that.
We reserved two scuba excursions for DH...the faxed form from DCL came back with GTY room assignment...we've had our rooms for months and don't think we're getting an upgrade...we have connecting rooms. Did everyone end up with GTY on the excursion form ?
Zandy...I think you wanted excursion info...as stated above DH is doing the scuba in St. Martin and St. Thomas...other than that I think DS, me, and my mom will be doing the beaches and trams on our own, and at CC I want to do the banana boat ride...maybe the kayak too...
Zandy595
08-27-2004, 09:35 PM
wide awake ~ I'm glad you mentioned the GTY on the excursion confirmation paper. It says that on mine too, even though I've had my stateroom number since the day I booked, in January.
Did you book with a TA? We did. I think that might be the reason it says GTY. Anyone know?

Good Morning :sunny: ....I sound like one of those dreaded "morning people" don't I? You know the ones who get up and can function the minute their feet get out of bed and actually be nice about it. Well, I'm not. I have to have my coffee and read my paper before anyone even looks at me. However, my DH is one of "them". I have almost killed him many a morning. No one should be so darned cheerful or talkative before 11am. As a matter of fact....I have always said that mornings shouldn't start until 11am. (And then end at 12.) ::yes::
Anyway.....have to go to the hairdresser's this morning and then go shopping :) . I know, I know, tough job but somebody has to do it. Thought I'd just pop in and say hello before I went.
So, hello.

Wide awake, I booked our cruise directly through DCL. I just received the excursion confirmation letter in the mail, and it had my stateroom number on it. So, it sounds like you are right saying that maybe it says GTY on your confirmation letter because you booked through a TA.
It sounds like you have picked some fun things to do on Castaway Cay. The banana boat ride sounds like a lot of fun!

Sandy...we'll await your pm. I can't wait for the signs, it's just another step in the process! We're gettin' so close! I can't wait! I think I wanna' cancel our Castaway Cay snorkel gear reservation. I read in Passporter's you don't really need a reservation  I dunno'. I got Mekayla fins, a mask and a snorkel, but I haven't seen anything for me yet. There isn't a lot of snorkeling going on here in Oregon! We made priority seating for the Luau at the Polynesian and now Mekayla says she doesn't wanna' cut a day at the Park short to go to the 5:15pm dinner show. Oh well...saves me about $80.00! hmmm...better head over to the disney web site and cancel that... talk to you princesses later.princess:

Hello All,
I am really getting excited about the cruise now that the shore trips are booked. Does anyone have a little girl in the 7 year old range who would want to connect with my Jessa before the cruise? I have listed our shore trips below:
St. Maarten
French Riviera Beach Rendevous
St Thomas
Paradise Point Tramway
Charlotte Amalie Historical Walking Tour
Castaway Cay
Parasailing 10:30
Have a great day!

Hi Princesses! princess:
39 days today for us...I'm doing the "Happy Dance!"
Sandy...The signs look awesome...Mekayla FREAKED when she saw the layout for her :cake: sign. I PM'd you. Sorry it took me so long to get back on the o.k.
Well, I got fins, a snorkel and a mask today for me, guess some people do snorkel in Oregon after all, who knew! I hope Disney's not too hard core on that "everyone must wear a life vest while snorkeling at Castaway Cay" rule. I don't have one. Anyone know if they'll give you grief over not wearing a floatation device? Mekayla has one, and I'm a Navy Vet (no fear of the water here) so I hope they don't. 39 days baby... 39 days.
tevagirl
08-31-2004, 07:09 AM
Dear Fellow Princess (aka Thea)....when we were there last year they did require everyone who was snorkeling to wear a vest but they provided them.
WldWcnWmn
08-31-2004, 04:39 PM
Thanks for letting me know. I was planning on bringing Mekayla's floatation vest anyway, as we're doing Trunk Bay, and she wants to snorkel the trail but if they offer vests at Castaway Cay, that's cool. :hyper:
If I don't stop buying stuff, we'll have nothing left to go shopping on when we hit St. Martin. I was planning on three bags for our two week vacation, and I've already got four bags packed! Looks like it's gonna' be three bags each at this rate.
I'm so giddy about the trip...I hope we get down to Florida o.k. Good Guys had portable DVD players on sale for $99.99 so, I got one for Mekayla to watch whatever she wants on the plane. Hopefully that'll knock off a few hours for her.

Have to tell you what happened to me at work yesterday. First let me tell you a little about myself. I know that I sound young, tall and thin but trust me when I tell you that I am none of the above. So....I am in the back of the unit filing some reports when the woman (Diane) who is training to take my place during my vacations comes back and tells me that there are some guys here to run computer lines for some new equipment that is going in. Now, these guys can't just walk in to the treatment area because we have patients in various stages of undress back there. So I go walking up to escort them back and I cut through our break room which is carpeted. Now...on my feet are these Easy Spirit shoes that I got when we were in Myrtle Beach this past May. These shoes have been very comfortable since the first day I put them on but unfortunately over the last few months they have kind of stretched out of shape and are a little loose on my feet. I am about three feet from the computer guys (all four of them) when I promptly fall flat on my face at their feet. I don't know what happened (but I think it was those darn shoes!) but I literally went from erect to prone in about 2 seconds. No stumbling, no down on my knees, just flat on my face. Now, you know how most people's reactions would be to either gasp and cry "OMG, are you okay?" (which is what I heard from Diane who was behind me) or to laugh hysterically (which I must admit I have done in the past when I was on the standing up end). Well these guys just stood there with absolutely no reaction on their faces at all. Just stood there looking at me. I swear if I could have read their minds they all would have been saying "Oh please...not now..I don't have time for this." So I pick myself up, rub my poor rug burned knees (and my ego) and escort these morons into the back where they can do their stupid computer line running job. I still can't believe those guys. Their reaction (or actually their lack of one) was hysterical! If it wasn't so funny I would have kicked their butts. Of course...I would have had to do that yesterday because my muscles hurt so bad today I couldn't even take on a puppy. Anyway...just thought I'd share my humiliation with all of you.
Talk to later, Denise:o

Hi Denise,
I'm 42 and I have decided that lots of the people younger than myself really have no reactions or thoughts...my sister discovered the same thing when she taught 9th grade English last year. By the way, I'm tall...guess I'm thin, and no one is more of a clod than I am...if there is a dust mote to trip on I will find it.

Well, here I am on the computer when I should be getting ready to go out and fight the crowds for hurricane supplies. At the moment it looks like Frances is coming straight at us. I am scared to death because I've never been in a BAD hurricane (I guess that's a good thing) and don't know what to expect. We have hurricane shutters, that I hope DH will put up before it's too late. DH is a corrections officer and if/when a hurricane comes he's required to be at the jail the whole time, which leaves me and Brendan alone.
It's beautiful outside right now though. :sunny: That's going to change BIG time in a couple days, unless Frances turns and stays out at sea. If it goes a little more north it's going to hit Port Canaveral.

cinric ~ Welcome to the boards! My parents booked the 12 Metre Regatta.
Hurricane Frances
OK, I guess I was wrong. IF the hurricane stays on it's projected path (they have no idea right now if it will) it's going to go right through the Port Canaveral area. A little better for my family, not good for DCL. However, a lot of things could change over the next couple days. What they call a 'projection cone' (I think) has it possibly going anywhere from the Keys to South Carolina.

Denise, If you think that is bad you should hear what happened to me in Hawaii a few years back. I was on this boat at Peart Harbor, and I passed out. No one knew I had passed out. They were all so involved looking at the monument that there I lay as they all departed the boat. Can you imagine that? We were even with a couple of friends who not only didn't know that I had passed out but never realized that I had been taken back to the island never making it onto the monument......so how about that for a story? We still laught about it.............Julebobo

I have been MIA longer than planned. Our cat died suddenly Monday morning. I was hysterical. Ollie was only 5 and the sweetest cat. It hasn't even been a year since we lost Shannon. Maybe Ollie missed her too much.
We got the keys to our new house last night, so you know where we will be.
Hope Frances stays away from you Floridians.

Cinric....welcome to the boards!
Sandy...good luck, I hope Frances stays away!
Julebobo....I would never go away with those friends again. What idiots. But maybe your friends thought you were bent over tying your shoes and not slumped over passed out with your head in the lap of the stranger next to you? I really think that's probably what happened. And maybe there was just sooo many people on the Arizona Memorial that they never even realized that you weren't with them? Maybe they never even knew any thing was wrong until they were in the boat on the way back to shore when it was announced on the two way radio for your friends to meet you in a certain place? I don't know but maybe that's what happened. By the way....I'm just curious....exactly how many socks was Bob wearing during that tour? Oh wait, that's right, I believe I heard it was ONE. Is that possible? (Have a safe trip and give Rolie Polie Olie or whatever his name is a big kiss from us.)

All the MAYBES in the world will never erase the hurt in my heart caused on that dreadful day by my friends. Oh, but I am sure that they had a good time.........and so what if Bobo (being his usual trendy self) chose to wear only one sock, as is the Hawaiin tradition? (Well, maybe it is).
We will have fun Rollie is waiting.............Julebobo

Hello...........Getting so excited here I cant stand it!
I hope you stay safe there in Florida.........Doesnt it always seem those Corrections Officers are at work at the worse times?? Blizzards, tropical storms, anything.......My husband works second shift and I hate when we are having a storm and he isnt here. And for some reason ever since Andrew was born.......it's hard to get him to call off sick! Before it used to be every Sunday he'd call off......Now for some reason he has to "save" his sick time....Go figure  ........Gotta give them credit though....It's not a nice place to be.........I work in the office there and everyday we feel like we are getting "locked up" Good thing I like the people I work with, need to have a little fun..............My friend had to cancel her trip to the Bahamas, she was supposed to leave today and was advised not to go because of the hurricane......they are sooooo sad.
Anyway..........Everytime I hear the Hawaii stories it's as if I was hearing them for the first time.......They're even better in person........Poor Aunt Jule, if you took me with you, I sure wouldnt have left you slumped over tieing your shoes!!
I cant believe we go away next month.......I hope Andrew starts walking before we leave.......Good night

Oh Teva...you are so funny. I recently read a line in a book that went something like, {the only carnal knowledge I subscribe to these days is culinary} I can relate! I would have tried not to giggle to death and just lay, lie, whatever...(where's that english teacher) on the floor until one of those bone-heads offered to assist me up. Chivalry is dead.
Sandy... did you get my PM?
Man, this is the day I could use a Buchwacker :drinking1
I took Mekayla to met her new 2nd grade teacher today (after an eight hour day at work) and there are 32 children on the class rolls. Doesn't that seem like a lot for one teacher? I thought so...then I hit her with the "sorry, Mekayla will be out of school for two weeks..." speech. I thought she was gonna' send me to the principal's office for encouraging truancy. I told her I had been planning this trip since before Mekayla was in Kindergarten...so kinna' sorry about the bad timimg, but deal with it. Sandy and all the rest of your Floridians, PLEASE BE SAFE!!! I have watching closely and I am very concerned for all of you! I know what you mean about your husband having to be at work during these rough times! Garry, my DH is a police officer here in Ohio and he is called in during storms and everything else that might cause problems. Last year we were hit with that HUGE blackout. Since we have cordless phones which don't work without electricity, the station couldn't call him in, right.... WRONG!! They sent someone to our house to get him!!! It was strange because you didn't know WHY the entire state was out (or for the other states as well, was it an accident or terrorists?). Anyways, I was prego with our 3rd child and it wasn't a fun night for me with a 4 year old and 2 year old! SOOO, I can understand your feelings COMPLETELY!
Thinking of you so sending Pixie Dust your way! Be safe! And keepus posted!!

Thea ~ Yes, I got your PM. I PM'd you back that day, but when I went to Sent Items, just now, it wasn't there. Sorry, don't know what happened. I'm really glad you like the signs. I'll do the one with the Mickey balloons for Mekayla. Bad news though - I won't be able to mail them out this week like I had planned. I've been VERY busy getting ready for this hurricane :worried: and I won't have time to get to the post office, even if it is open. I'm sorry. I promise, as soon as the weather gets better I'll mail them right out.
They cancelled school for tomorrow and Friday. DH is going to put the last hurricane shutter up tomorrow morning and it's going to be completely dark in my house. :scared1: My mom and step father (and their cat) are being evacuated from their house tomorrow at noon so they'll be staying with us until they're given the OK to go back. :crowded:  I might go crazy even before the storm hits.

I was just sitting here, on my lunch break, trying to avoid the rain. I don't know what I was thinking, being a Letter Carrier in Oregon. The Post Office should issue us Boats, in stead of Mail Trucks...
Sandy!...are you crazy girlfriend?!?! Don't give my signs a second thought! A DCL CM told me that they are sent out from 15 to 30 days prior to the cruise.

Hi everyone. We left our house last night and are now staying with my aunt in W. Palm Beach, which is about 35 minutes south of our house. She's farther inland and we figured we'd be better off here. My parents are coming here this morning also. And my cousin's girlfriend's family are go to be here later today. There will 15 of us. Good thing it's a big house.
DH had to go to work last night, but they actually let him leave this morning. As soon as he got out he went back up to our house because he forgot to secure the garage door. He has to go into work again this afternoon and then might have to stay there until Sunday or later.
There has been good news and bad news... It's now down to a category 3 - 125 mph winds, but it's moving VERY slowly, so it could strengthen again.
We could lose power today so this might be the last time I can get on for a while. I guess if we don't have a house to go back to we won't be able to go on the cruise either. Have to wait and see what happens. This is soooo hard to deal with.

I thought I would pull all the Postal strings I could get my hands on (weren't many) when I started with the Post Office, to see where my check was as well. They just replied, "it's in the mail." I think Ed lied to us, both. But I still look everyday!
Has anyone heard how Castaway Cay fared the storm? Wonder what the cruisers going out tomorrow are doing?!?! You think they {Disney} ever CANCELLED the trip due to weather? Perish the thought!
After all these years of planning, paying and dreaming... I would just fall over if our trip doesn't happen. Mekayla and I were doing "what if's" last night. You know how it goes... she says, what if Mickey can't get his island up and running by the time we're there...what if there's a hurricane when we go... what if we don't get to go...what if...what if. My standard response was "I dunno." :confused3

Sandy, My DH and I are keeping you in our prayers as you go through this hurricane. Hopefully there will be no harm to your family or your home.
WldWcnWmn, They said on the news that there was alot of damage at Abaco Island in the Bahamas. I thought that island was within sight of Castaway Cay. Hopefully CC will weather the storm without any damage to buildings, trees, or the beach.
Denine, I can appreciate how much a cat can love it's "people". I have two cats who are more than just animals ~ they are family members. My DD complains that I spoil the cats more than I ever spoiled her or her brother.

Okay...I made the pins. Unfortunately I can't show you because I don't know how. They are lime green Mickey heads, cut out from the Home Depot paint chips, name is put on with a paint pen, they are laminated and have a bar pin on the back. I think 50 cents a pin would cover the cost of the laminating sheets, bar backs, padded envelopes and postage. If you want any tell me the names and your address and I'll get them off to you.
How's it going, Sandy? Still thinking of and praying for you guys.

Well, we've been watching the news so close. I used to live in Jax Beach (Jacksonville) and I have family there. They still have power, but are getting ready to drive up to east Georgia hoping to miss most of the damage. I've been reading the reports from this board and on the walt disney web site. Looks like CC took a whallup and is still experiencing heavy rains. Apparently all the people who live there were evacuated. I know we won't be cancelled over this (Mickey's got 3 weeks to do his Magic and make the island o.k. for tourists) but I am still sick to my stomach. Literally. I am too type A to handle stuff like this. I hope that Sandy's o.k. and everyone makes it throught his storm allright. I feel guilty for having such a pretty weekend. It's sunny and warm, which is rare for Oregon.

:wave2: Hi ALL!
I hope Sandy's making out okay. What a mess that state is in. Those poor people.
This is a very busy month for us. We have baby showers, a birthday (Andrew's first!) two christenings (one which is today), and a wedding all coming up in the next 3 weeks. At least the month will go by very quickly. ::yes::
We were stopped at a red light yesterday and there was an suv type car stopped on the other side of the light. It had a sun roof and standing up out of the sun roof was this big pure white husky looking dog. It would have been funny enough just seeing him standing with his head out of the sun roof but he was also wearing goggles!
I hope everyone has a nice Labor Day. Stay safe.

Happy Labor Day to everyone. After today I won't have to go food shopping at 6am to avoid the crowds. But, on the other hand, it means summer is over. :( But then again it means the cruise is that much closer! :) (I could go on but I won't.)

I haven't posted on this board for a long time. I am pretty out of touch with everything.
I have been looking for information on how CC faired. Seems no one really knows but lots of speculation. Sounds like there is a good chance we may not get to stop there.:(

I'm back. We were able to come home Monday afternoon. We finally got power back last night and just now got our phone back. The only damage we sustained, at my house, was 4 out of 8 trees were blown over. DH staked them back up and hopefully we'll be able to save them. My DM (20 minutes SE of here, near the beach) had her screens ripped off her patio and a big palm tree knocked over. She was so worried that her whole house was going to be torn apart. We feel very lucky. The upscale mobile home park near my neighborhood took a huge hit. Big trees fell on a couple of them and a lot of roofs were ripped to shreds. There are many trees down, a lot on power lines. Our county cancelled school for the whole week. DS really wants to go back. I hope the school is OK, I haven't heard anything. Normally he would be happy about not having school, but all this has been extremely hard on him and he just wants everything to get back to normal. He was terrified during the worst of the storm, we all were. My aunt's house (where we stayed) has hundreds of very tall pine trees all around it and we were sure that at least one was going to come down on the house. Fortunately none of them hit the house or the cars. Their driveway was blocked by a few that fell down though. Luckily my uncle has a chain saw or we'd still be there. A small town in my county took the direct hit, but since this hurricane was so HUGE and covered the whole state everyone had to deal with it.
Now our only problem is we don't have any food. Well, we do have a few cans of ravioli left, but that doesn't appeal to me at all. A couple stores were open because they were running on generators, but they don't have any milk, meat, fresh fruit or vegetables.
Has anyone heard anything definite about Castaway Cay, St. Maarten, or St. Thomas? I went to DisneyCruise.com, but it only had info for 9/9 and 9/11 cruises. I really hope they don't switch it to the western itinerary. I've been to those places, except Key West. Looks like Port Canaveral will be up and running by this Saturday and CC might be OK for the 9/11 cruisers. At least it says they haven't made any itinerary changes to that cruise yet.

Hi Sandy.
So glad you are back with us and that you sustained no major damage. It probably seems like it will never get back to normal at this point, but it will. Keep reassuring your DS. I'm sure your family is being kept in everyone's prayers and thoughts as well as the whole state of Floridians.

Hi, Sandy, I'm glad that you and your family are safe. My DH and I were vacationing in Virginia last September when the hurricane went through. The people there seemed to handle things very well, even though there was so much devistation and no electricity. Most restaurants were closed, and the ones that were open had a very limited menu as they lost everything in their freezers and refrigerators. I remember eating a lot of salads! I remember talking to one clerk at the Wal-Mart. Her power had been off for four days at that point. She said that she was going to find a store that was open and buy a small container of milk for her cat. Lucky kitty, to have an owner that loved it that much!
I hope power is restored to your area soon, and that the stores are able to restock their freezers and shelves soon.
It looks like Ivan is going to stay away from the east coast of Florida. If they do change our itinerary, will we be able to make shore excursion reservations?

Mekayla and I are so glad to hear that everything is o.k. We are also super excited that Ivan is not going to hit Castaway Cay. (Hopefully)
I hope everything is o.k. for our cruise. I can't even imagine having our cruise cut to three nights...I would be so bummed. Even though no one was at fault, did DCL do anything for their guests that had to cut their trip short this week on the Magic? Just curious.

After a last minute change of plans (Hurricane Frances hit Grand Bahama Hard - we had been planning to go to our lucaya) We just booked this cruise. Imagine my surprise when I found out this chain was 55 pages so I don't really have time to go through them all.
So a quick introduction - My name is Debbie, I will be traveling with my husband, 3 1/2 year old daughter and 11 month old son. We have room 8520. My husband and I won (yes won) a 3 night cruise in October of 1999 (I believe it was the wonder first open to the public sail) We had a great time and I have just been dreaming about doing it again but it was so expensive (admittedly I wanted a verandah again and some extra room). So all of a sudden the hurricane wiped out my trip I had planned and I have all sort of personal issues going on (I'm only 35 and my Mom died more than 3 years ago and my dad now has lung cancer and It doesn't look good) and I said "screw it" and we are blowing the budget on this trip! I don't know think I will be able to get away over the next year because of my dad. I am so excited and everytime I think of how much fun my daugher is going to have I start to cry. Looking forward to hearing introductions from everyone.

Hi Debbie, welcome to the thread
Sandy, I am sooo glad that you and your family made it through the hurricane with only minor damage. I read that the Radisson is open and Ron Jon's suffered some water damage.
We are getting excited about sailing here. I am trying to get things together this week, the hottest week of the year. I made my 5 year old try on his black suit in 90 degree heat in an unairconditioned house. He was a real trooper though. He said he looks good in black....don't we all!
Frank, the challenging child, informed me the other day that "HIS life is miserable" because there was no LUCKY Charms to eat. Can we all say "DRAMA Queen"? I don't know where he gets these emotional, crazy outbursts.....must be the father's side.
My next task is to get the kids halloween costumes for the MNSSHP. I don't think the boys are gonna go for the princess outfits even though I keep pointing out the pretty pink lace. There is often a lot of eye rolling and loud groans however it doesn't stop me from torturing my children. Are you guys seeing years of therapy?
Please Stay SAfe and Well.

Welcome Debbie!
I read on another thread that someone cruising 10/2 got their docs. I'm not even going to start looking for them until 9/25.
I found this info on PortCanaveral.org and thought you guys might be interested in reading it. The next Disney Magic cruise, scheduled to depart on Saturday, September 11, is still expected to leave from Port Canaveral as planned. "The service and cooperation from those at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale during this time has been incredible, and we greatly appreciate their hospitality as we work through complications from the hurricane," said Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line. "I also want to thank all of the crew members who have done a tremendous job of continuing to focus on providing great guest service through Hurricane Frances."
Holz added that Disney Cruise Line is working closely with the talented leaders at Port Canaveral to re-commence operations there at the first opportunity.
Disney Cruise Line is currently performing a detailed inspection of the company's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, including its navigation channel and docking facilities. At this time, all of the other ports of call Disney Cruise Line visits - including Nassau in the Bahamas - are open for business.

Just got off the phone with a Disney Rep in Orlando. She indicated that they are just starting to process docs for 10/16 Magic and we should receive them within 2 weeks. They are back sailing out of Port Canaveral and all the parks had minimal damage. GREAT NEWS!!!

People who booked directly through DCL will probably see their documents much sooner than people who booked with a travel agent.
Has anyone told their child(ren)'s teacher(s) about the cruise yet? I was going to tell Brendan's teacher this week, but there wasn't any school because of Frances. After missing 7 days for the hurricane she probably won't be too happy to hear that I'm taking him out for 4 days next month.

I told my Dd's teacher and there was no problem. She is in a Montessori school and they are pretty flexible with these kinds of things. They consider them learning experiences. I am having her keep a log of miles traveled, important events, etc. so she can have a scrapbook as well as something she can take in and share with classmates. I got the scrapbook at Organized Living. It is very nice. Has a wooden cut out of MM right on the front. It was fairly on the expensive side...I think about $30 but it was worth it for the trip of a lifetime for her. AS a surprise, we will also be swimming w/the dolphins at Discovery Cove before the cruise.

I guess this message is to Jill (mother of Alex), What are you doing about formula. Are the fridges/coolers in the room cold enough to keep formula in? I was thinking about shipping all the babystuff to meet me at the ship (I'm neurotic when I travel I always bring two days of stuff in my carryon - once got stuck in an airport for 24 hours with my 7 month old DD). Just concerned about formula. My son is not a big fan of powdered, single serving can's way a ton to ship - I would need like 30 cans) and the premade 32 oz would be lighter but need to be refigerated once open. Any suggestions?

I just found out the schools won't be ready to open on Monday now. Man, they're missing so much school. At least it looks like Ivan will miss us.
Denise ~ I didn't know about those excuse letters. I'm gonna go check them out. Thanks.
When do you get the brochure for stateroom gifts? With your documents? Is anyone planning on ordering anything? On our last cruise (2001) I ordered a Captain Mickey plush doll for DS. He thought it came from Mickey himself. The look on his face was priceless. I don't want to go overboard, so I was thinking about either the DCL logo watch or the Bon Voyage Memory Box. I really like the box, but some people who booked with All Seasons Travel said that's what they give you for a gift. I don't want to have two of them. I wish I knew for sure. I don't want to not order it and find out AST didn't give us one. Such a dilemma. Does anyone know if they sell the Bon Voyage Memory Box on the ship?
Ooh, ooh, ooh! Someone cruising 10/9 just got their documents yesterday! They booked through All Seasons. I'll be looking for my docs next Friday. :Pinkbounc

Hey Everyone
Debbie, about the formula....... I was hoping that he would be on whole milk by the cruise. I tried it like 2 weeks ago and it didnt agree with him, so had to put him back on the formula. My mom is going to be down there a week before and she is going to go to a supermarket and purchase what I need. I had originally thought of just packing everything for him in a separate suitcase, but then we realized that with the formula cans it would be so heavy.............for keeping it cold, I guess we'll have to make sure we have ice in our rooms at all times to pack the bottles in. I usually buy the concentrate, but for the cruise I am buying ready to feed........it's going to be a pain, i'm sure..............but still, i'm excited.........Glad to see there's another baby Andrew's age on board. He'll be 1 on Sept. 24th!...... Maybe they can play!! See you all soon...Jill

Denise ~ Jill should call whomever she booked with (DCL or her TA) now to request the fridge. Then it'll be all set up and getting cold before they get to the cabin, hopefully. It's just easier to let them know ahead of time. If it's not there when they get in the cabin they should leave a note for the stateroom attendant or call Guest Services.

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA lately. I have had a TON of stuff to do and haven't had any time to get on the boards.
The formula question..... we have cruised with an 8 mo. old for our 2 of our cruises and the pre-made formula kept cool in the "frig" that is already in the room. The cabin attendant always had fresh ice every day. I don't think that there will be a problem. We are also traveling with a 9 mo. this trip. Food and beverages stayed cool in the room "cooler/frig".
If you get a mini frig, where would they put it? I would perfer one, but the size of the cabins, I really thought the "cooler" WAS a frig.
Have a super day everyone!

Hi All,
Isn't this one of the greatest parts of the cruise...close enough to really anticipate. All day today when I was dealing with insane co-workers and families I just told myself to relax...I would soon be on the Magic, where my job is to enjoy myself. Actually I still have lots to do...arrange transportation, buy DS some clothes, send in measurements for tuxes, stop at the winery, and buy books for the cruise. At this point am trying to decide if I want to take the kayak/nature walk tour at CC...it may be a moot point, don't know if it is full or not. We will not be wearing lime green on embarkation day...unless I happen to find something for DS...he is the only one of us who looks good in "hot" colors. I will be in a deep blue swimsuit coverup and flipflops...we're pretty easy to pick out...or avoid...DH is 6'4'', I'm 5'11", DS is 5'10"...we're all thin and have crystal blue eyes. My mom has poofy hair and the same eyes. One year I had a student who loved my eyes...he said "if I took your eyes than they would be mine"...I told him if he took them they wouldn't work for him. Do you get an idea of the type of people I deal with ?
Teva girl, did you cancel Happy Limo ? I can't decide what to do there...we have an 11:25 flight out of MCO with SouthWest...not one of the airlines that you can check your bags at the port...DCL informed me that is only for "major airlines".
tevagirl
09-14-2004, 08:33 PM
Yes, I did cancel Happy Limo. I made a new reservation with Florida Tours. We also can't check our luggage at the port but we don't have a flight to catch since we aren't flying home until Monday. Last year we were able to though and it was so nice to get rid of the bags and not see them again until we got home. But we had gotten a very good price to fly with Spirit this time and it's only 45 minutes from my house as opposed to an hour and a half from Philadelphia. We leave for WDW 4 weeks from today!

Thank-you Tevagirl...
I HAVE to make a decision by tomorrow...we're renting a car and driving from MCO to Cocoa Beach on the 15th, but don't really want to do the rental thing on the way back. RATS !!! I was thrilled with the Happy Limo plan till that thread a few days ago.
WldWcnWmn
09-14-2004, 09:30 PM
I haven't decided what to do to get to Cape Canaveral from MCO. I wanted to rent a car, and have one reserved through budget...but it's not the cheapest thing runnin' and they want a $250.00 deposit on a credit card, they can't promise will be released when I drop off the car at CoCo Beach. Anyone take the Disney buses before? Is it really fun, or are they a drag. I DO NOT want to get to the peir at 12:30pm or later! Ergo, the rental. Plus, our flight doesn't leave for Oregon until 2:30pm on the 23rd, I was hoping to take Mekayla to the beach for a few hours before the flight (wear her out for the long trip home). So, don't really know what options are there for us (if any). What was the thread...do we hate happy limo now? Lemme' know.
tevagirl
09-14-2004, 10:10 PM
I'm not sure about us hating Happy Limo but there are a few people right now who aren't very happy with Happy. It made me a little nervous about using them so I changed plans. We used the Disney transfers last year and had no problems with it but I don't remember what time we got to the port.
Well, wide awake, you'll be able to recoqnize me (if you want to)...I'll be the lady with the three year old who will be standing in the middle of Port Canaveral with this really awful twitch, pulling her hair out and screaming for the three year old's Daddy. If he ditches us I'm sending her home via fed ex. Plus, we'll all have lime green Mickey name tags on.

I washed up Kaleigh's princess dresses today. I am debating on whether I should let her wear one for her birthday party on the 25th.
We used DCL transportation for our 1st cruise. We had no trouble. I don't remember what time we got to the port though.
I will be wearing a striped, lime green shirt. I only wear it for DCL cruises.
Maybe I can pay more attention to this cruise now. I don't want it creeping up on me.
I ordered the party tray and cake for Kaleigh's birthday.

Hi Everyone,
I too am making all the final plans for our trip. We leave on the 3rd October and are counting down the days. Not looking to the long trip from Australia though.....but it will be worth it :-). We had some good new yesterday and after nearly a year on the market we finally sold our home. Now we just have to wait for our land to be ready and we can build our new home. Not quite sure what we'll be wearing on embarkation day - don't have anything lime green - so it won't be that. I still need to work out whether to bring wine with us from Australia or buy some over there for the wine & cheese party. Is it still on the Sunday? There was some talk of changing it to Monday wasn't there?
Does anyone know where I might find a readable copy of the navigators? I want to try and pencil in some activities we want to do.
Well, I'd better go. DD5 has a book parade a school today - she's going as a witch since I think nearly every other girl will be a princess or a fairy.
Oh, one more question. Has tropical night changed to the Pirates in the Caribbean party?

Hi Libby,
I was feeling sorry for myself with the flight from Sacramento...I'd be a basket case on one from Australia...I can't stand sitting still that long, and there isn't enough money in the world to make me use one of those disgusting bathrooms on the plane.
Tevagirl...my mom twitches when she gets nervous too...her eyes.
I'm thinking I need to make up a little chart with what everyone is wearing...how humiliating would it be if everyone changed their plans and I ran around the terminal saying "hi" to non DIS board people. Of course I have to MAKE it to the terminal...I again failed to make transportation reservations.

Hi Libby! I was just reading some navigators from the end of June on Dave's site (www.dcltribute.com). We are going to be wearing tropical wear, leis and eye patches so we will have it all covered whatever it is that night!
Wide awake.... I wouldn't worry too much what those non Dis board people think...after all what do they know? NOTHING!!:teeth:

Stupid Hurricane Frances!!! Originally DS had 10/15 and 10/22(my bday) off of school for teacher work days. This was the main reason I booked the 10/16 cruise. However, they missed 8 days of school due to the storm and power outages so officials want to make up the days now instead of at the end of the year. So he won't get the day off before the cruise when his NY grandparents come down and he'll miss another day of school while we're on the cruise. If I would have known this, which of course I couldn't, I would have booked the cruise for November.
OK I'm done venting.

I just got my plane reservation from Disney, and called the airline for seat assignments. On one segment of our flight down to Orlando, the Delta service rep could not assign seats to us. She said the plane was pretty full, but she could guarantee that we would get our seat assignments when we get to the airport (Atlanta). She said all of the available seats are "singles" - she did not have two empty seats together.
This may present a problem as I do not want my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter sitting by herself. Neither will the filght attendents - can you imagine how much noise a scared little girl who has never flown before can make if Daddy isn't right next to her?
The service rep said that someone at the gate in Atlanta would shuffle people around so that my son would be able to sit next to his daughter. Wouldn't you think that Disney would tell the airlines the sizes of the parties flying so that everyone in the party could sit together? Out of the four flight segments, we are all sitting together on only one flight.
I am really looking forward to that bushwacker at Paradise Point!

I called the DCL to see about Docs 'cause I STILL don't know our room # and I was told they're booked at capacity for kids in Mekayla's age group. Guess she has a chance to make a cruise friend or two...::yes:: Wow!! Didn't I read in Passporters that October was the slow time of year for WDW?...Oh yeah, guess everyone else read that, too. Oh well. Family in Florida still doesn't have electricity from Ivan. Did you guys see Jeanne's predicted path? Man, I REALLY wanted to see Castway Cay. :(
My friends at work think Disney should develop the rest of the island and have a hotel, and maybe even vacation club member exclusive suites there...whatcha' think? I just went into my bedroom to shut my blinds and what to my wondering eyes should appear.......well I can tell you it wasn't 8 tiny reindeer and a fat man. It was the biggest, ugliest, scariest looking spider hanging right outside my window. I don't like spiders. As a matter of fact you could even say I have a BIG phobia about them. So guess who killed the spider? My poor 82 year old mother. Yep, drug her butt right out there to spray that sucker (used a whole can of bug spray) and took a broom to the web. She's a brave woman, let me tell you! ::yes:: It wouldn't be me making that thing mad. I've heard they get even.

Tevagirl, You dragged your 82 year old mom out back to take care of the spider? I can picture it now ~ your mom armed with a can of Raid and a broom to protect her daughter from the spider.
I can relate ~ we had a big spider (well, maybe he was only the size of a half-dollar) on the curtains once. I scooped it into a trashcan, and flipped the trashcan upside down onto the carpet. It stayed there (and I watched the trashcan to make sure the spider didn't escape) for about 3 or 4 hours until my husband came home and took care of it.
I can hardly wait until we all get our docs next week. I can't believe that September is half over already. I hope the first two weeks of October go by fairly quickly. So does my hubby ~ he will be glad when I stop buying things for the cruise. :-)

1000 kids !!! Where are all those people that would NEVER take their kids out of school ??? Are their parents like me, who had one question...."which week is the very cheapest ?" Four weeks from today and we will be enroute to Florida...I have yet to make transportation reservations...Yahoo has been acting up...and I am starting to wonder if I need a new outfit. I need to buy black dress shoes too. I need to run off those Bushwacker coupons, need to switch to late dining for certain sure, and sense that I will be needing some sessions at the tanning booth. For some stupid reason we're having autumn type weather...come on, we're in Sacramento...it is 100 degrees from late April til mid Oct, then some rain, fog, and 55 degrees...but since I need a tan we have possible showers expected on Sunday. Is the wine party Monday ? I am bringing my favorite...DH likes it too. This is a man who NEVER drinks at home, but you put him on a ship where the drinks are $6 apiece and he wants to try them all.
We're flying Southwest...probably all end up sitting with strangers...once on a transatlantic flight my best friend and I sat next to this man that had a very smelly fungus on his hands...this Orlando thing can't be as bad as that.
Good going with the spider Tevagirl...at least your mom had bug spray...I've gone after them with Windex because that is what I had...it works if you spray enough to drown them.

How could I have forgotten...Tiggerfantoo's trash can story brought it back. I don't let anyone wear shoes in my house, so our everyday shoes are usually on the front porch. One day when DS was about 18 months old I decided to go somewhere, so opened the front door and tried to put my shoe on...I felt a big lump but because I'm stupid and stubborn I tried to force the issue...the shoe would not go on, I kicked it into the air and a snake slithered out...DS and I slammed the screen and stared at the empty front porch till DH got home. I was certain the snake would come in and attack if I didn't keep a vigilant eye out.

We had a free screening for prostate cancer today at work so I had to go in. We saw 66 men and their prostates. (Only kidding about their prostates!) Last year we saw 100 but this year it happened to fall on the same day as the Fireman's convention (there's 50,000 firemen in the neighboring town right now) and I think that's why our numbers were down. Doesn't matter, I'm still tired.

We took our hurricane shutters off the windows when we got back home on the Monday (9/6) after Frances hit. Tigger was VERY happy to have her window back. :D
No, DS won't have to go to school on Saturdays. They're going to use teacher work days and some holiday time to make up days. I was hoping they'd extend the school year, but they want to stay on track with marking periods and scheduled report card dates. St. Lucie County (just north of us) still hasn't opened their schools yet.

Hi Patty:
You cannot register the kids before you board. However, last year, I registered the kids around 12:30pm and let them look around the club. You can't drop the kids off until later that evening. It is only when you drop your kids off that they give you a pager. I believe the first night, the kids club doesn't open until after the Bon Voyage party....6 or 7 pm. Don't quote me on times. The memory isn't as good as it used to be.
Hope that helps.

I will have copies of the list on board. If you want to set up a meeting time before the sail away party or in the terminal that would be fine to get one. If you want on before we sail, PM me with your email address and I will send it to you.
Wine party on board...... we were going to have it on Sun around 2:30pm but there was a conflict with a "wine tasting class" so I thought we decided to have it on Monday at 2:30pm on deck 7 "secret deck". We all were going to order the cheese plate from room service and bring it to the party and a bottle of wine(s) from your home state/country or your favorite wine.
Now that we are so close, you will see me posting more often. We been having a CRAZY last few weeks with school starting for my dd (kindergarten) and ds (preschool). My MIL and BIL (from NY) got their docs yesterday. MIL took my idea about getting my DM & DSF the wine, so I guess I won't be doing that. Now I'm not sure what to do for them.

If you book through MS with DVC points can you see your reservation online? We may use DVC points for part or all of our next cruise and I was curious if you can pull up your reservation with your reservation number and phone number like you can if you book directly with DCL.

Glad other cruisers are finally getting their docs!
Does anyone know if they have ATM's on board or in ports? If so, where?
Also, does anyone plan on going to Maho (sp?) Beach to watch the planes fly over Princess Juliana Airport? (Daughter's middle name - Juliana)

No docs for us !!! I had my hopes up too...when I got home saw two packages on my front porch...turned out to be art supplies for students. I'm enjoying the anticipation but REALLY need this cruise...found out yesterday that DS needs to be fully anesthesisized (sp?) next Tuesday so he can have his teeth cleaned, filled, etc...he has had this done before, always comes through well but something else to worry about. Naturally the only day the OR had an opening was Tuesday, which coincides with our one all day meeting of the year for work. For months we've been told there are no excuses for missing it...just emailed my advisor and told her I'd be late. DS's bus was 45 minutes late again this morning...that is 3 times in 4 weeks...if I had a regular classroom teaching job I'd have been fired by now. I'm going to spend LOTS of time sitting and staring at the water...maybe by the time the cruise is over I'll be able to put two thoughts together again. Hope lots of you (including me) get docs tomorrow !!!
By the way, someone was talking about Lava Flows ? When we were in Hawaii they said they were a layered mix of pina coladas and strawberry daiquiries...they were very yummy.

Just found the website, and excited to see so many people with something in common...........25 days until CRUISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am travling with my aunt, DW, DS 4, DD 1.5. We have a routine of watching the DVD every night before bed time with the kids.
My DS 4 now controls the DVD remote and tells us that he is the tour guide and takes us around the DVD with superb knowledge (he can answer all the "ask a fish" questions before they are fully asked)
Anyway, no docs yet, but am holding my breath so I hope it does not take too long...would not want to pass out from lack of oxygen before the cruies. Look forward to seeing you all on board...

They called the cruise line and came back to me and said they wouldnt be mailing mine or anyone elses until 2 weeks before the cruise. Of course since I am on the "Dis" I told her I know that the docs for this sailing are going out. I am going to give them the bennifit of being behind. I am going to call again on monday.

Zandy, us Letter Carriers have an "in" at the Post Office, Ya' never know...the signs might be in my box as I type...:smooth:
Just kidding...I'll be happy if they get here within the next two weeks. It is nice knowing your Carrier personally though...she calls me from her cell phone when I get something "good." I should tell her to expect a large envelope from Florida any day!:teeth: Our "desks" (they call them cases) where we get the mail ready in the morning is all metal, so I am gonna bring in my door signs and smack them on my case when I get them, since I am at the 16 day mark.:hyper: Everyone at work says they think I'll need valium the week before the trip, just to get through. Hope none of my customers expect to get their own mail that week, I'm gonna' be so scatter-brained...I'll be doin' good to deliver the right block, much less the right house. I wonder if I can use that excuse with my boss, and ask for a personal day or two before the trip? Tell him I only have my customer's best interests at heart, or something like that...:hyper: I heard some Eaterners are doing Antigua instead of St. Martin...anyone know if our itinerary is the same? I know with Lisa and Mark out there it's subject to change, but any information would be good. I originally thought I'd be upset if our schedule changed, but now, as long as we're going to Castway Cay, and going for 7 days, I don't care where else we go.

WldWcnWmn ~ What a surprise to get your phone call last night! :D DH was online at the time and called me into the den to listen to your message. I'm so glad you got your signs. I was really afraid they'd come back to me, postage due. I have a feeling the lady at the post office put the extra postage on it herself because I know it wasn't right. Anyway, glad you like them.
cinric ~ My parents (Karen & Paul) are doing the 12 Metre regatta in St. Maarten.
vandawho ~ I watched "LOST" last night too. I'm glad I'm driving to Port Canaveral. What the heck is that monster thing? I didn't realize it was a sci-fi show.
Hurricane Jeanne - Our local weather people have Jeanne possibly hitting my area this Saturday. Looks like the hurricane shutters are going back up tomorrow. I can't stand having the windows covered and no natural light in the house. I'm so tired of this. By the time I get to the store tomorrow morning all the canned food, water and batteries will probably be gone. I went through my whole supply after Frances. There hasn't even been enough time to get all the debris cleaned up and now we have to prepare for another one. My aunt still hasn't gotten her phone back. This will be the fourth hurricane to hit Florida in, what is it now, 7 or 8 weeks? I don't remember Florida getting hit by four hurricanes in one year before this.
They were saying on the news this morning that Ivan is reforming in the Gulf of Mexico. They are predicting that it may become a tropical depression. I guess from what they said that part of it splintered off of the East coast and then looped around back to the Gulf. I've never heard of anything like that, either.
Zandy, I am glad you are doing the document dance. Poor kitty if you have to put plywood back up on your windows. You can move up here in Maine - we don't have any poisonous snakes or animals - but we don't have a Disney park, either. Oh well . . . .

Zandy - That was weird getting the signs in the mail last night. I called Florida information just to get your number, 'cause I knew you'd go...hmmm, that was fast.::yes:: There were three Disney stamps on it, I should have checked the weight today at work, but everyone was ooohhing and aaahhhing over the signs, I forgot to check. Mekayla flipped! She loves her sign, thanks so much! I can't believe the lousy luck with the storms. My Grandpa hasn't even finished cleaning up either, and he says it looks like a MAC Truck drove thru 40 feet of his privacy fence. Bummer. You'll definately need a restful vacation I hope all fares well for you guys.
We got an upgrade...to Cat. 11. I guess when you book at a Cat. 12 there's no where else to go but up. We're in 6141 for that list that's being made with names and room numbers:earsboy: For the longest time (actually the last 200 days) we were just GNTY. Feels so good to have a number. Remember when we were at 200+ days guys?!?
I saw the location of the room in my Passporter's book. Pretty cool being one deck away from the OL - I'm sure Mekayla won't have trouble finding her "home" on the ship from there. I'll have to teach her the route from the room to the tropical rainforest. I told her that's where I'll be most the time!::yes::
One more Thursday to go, then we'll be on a plane to Mickey's House. I can't wait. I called the DCL today 'cause I'm an idiot and couldn't find the dinner rotation on the little boarding pass looking cards (they aren't there, who knew) and asked if the itinerary was looking like it was changing with Lisa and Mark out there for our Cruise. They changed around the Western Ininterary, the 25th of Sept., the 9th and the 23rd of October, but said if the storms go as predicted, we'll be smooth sailin'. Hope so. I don't think I'd be the stable person you've seen all this time (yeah right!) if our cruise is shortened. So, everybody get together :grouphug: the NEW, IMPROVED mantra is, "we will not be cancelled, and we will be out for 7 days" (or longer:p ) BTW I didn't have to sign for the cruise documents. Do you think it's worth $30.00 to have DCL put up a banner and centerpiece for Mekayla's B-Day in our stateroom? There was a brochure that came with the docs that had all this cute stuff you could buy and have in the stateroom, but would the room steward get totally bent if I just hung up my own Happy Birthday banner? I am on the Single Parent Spending Plan...

Mekayla and I went to walmart last night to look for pirate gear...they didn't have all of their halloween stuff up but it was funny that she found eye patches (for the Pirate's night pirate: ) by the bonine! She didn't realize that eye patches were used because people had medical need, not strictly for costume use. I got an email notification last night that stated WDW would be closed today! I can't remember when WDW has closed sooooo much in one year!
What a year!
Sandy, I hope you are safe! PLEASE let us know how you are doing as soon as possible!

Sandy lives in Stuart...you know, that little town they keep showing on the weather channel that got slammed by Jeanne?!?! I hope she's o.k. And I hope that's the last of the Hurricanes. Mickey's got two weeks to get everything up and running. Hope all goes well. Can't wait to hear from Sandy.

Sandy: We are thinking about you. Post when you can to let us know you are alright.
Kaleigh had a very nice party yesterday. Julie and the kids came and I got to see Brooke walking.
Can't wait for vacation, assuming Florida is still there by then.

Hi everyone! We're OK. We're at my mom's house right now. She got power back this morning. We still don't have it at our house. Just came over here to enjoy the A/C for awhile. It was 89 degrees inside our house when we left about 30 minutes ago. I dread going back.
It was VERY SCARY, but we made it through. My house wasn't damaged at all, but all the trees are down and our lamp post light in the front yard is broken. We had to go to our safe room (my walk-in closet) during the worst of the storm, but when the wind ripped off one of the metal hurricane shutters it wasn't safe to be in that part of the house anymore. We ran to the interior bathroom and stayed there until they said it was safe to leave. (We had a battery operated tv with us.)
My mom has some water damage at her house where rain came in around the windows. The rest of her patio screens were ripped off. Frances had already gotten some.
Well, gotta go. I might be able to check in again tomorrow.
Thanks for the prayers, thoughts and Pixie Dust. It worked!

Sandy, glad you're okay.
DS was supposed to have surgery tomorrow but has a cold so got bumped from the schedule. Now we're looking at after the cruise.
My DM has some kind of problem with the tendons in her foot and ankle...will be using a wheelchair in the airports. Am starting to wonder if she will even get off of the Magic.
We still don't have docs. Our reservations are with DU...are they slow on getting them out ?

Sandy: So glad to hear you are safe and so is your house.
WideAwake: At least you don't have to worry about your son and the anesthesia before the cruise. Your docs will come. Julie hasn't gotten hers either and she booked through DU.

Hazza Sandy! We're so glad you guys made it through yet another of Mother Nature's redecorating fits! I am so glad the horizons look clear for the forseeable future. Looks like you guys will be getting rain for the next week or so...nothing new to us here in Oregon. Rains everyday. Hope there's no flooding there. So glad to hear all is well!

Hi everyone !!!
I got my docs the other day, I wasnt even thinking they would be here by now, but time sure flies when youre remodeling a dungeon into a family room. It is 99% done !!! YAY I think I am more excited about that than the cruise ( did I just say that?) nooooooooooooooo !!! I guess I better shift gears as there isn't much time left to get ready!!! Nothing like waiting untill the last moment, huh. It's kinda starting to sink in now that there's only a couple of weeks left. Can you believe all this crazy weather, my office was flooded last week and I couldn't even drive into town, had to take a couple days off. I hope Sandy is doing well, I took some time to read all the posts I am sending pixie dust her way.....Now I can relax and just look forward to this vacation, everything is getting back to normal here. We did all the romodeling ouselves except for carpet, wood floors & electric, never again....now who wants to come hook up the surround sound system? that wire goes WHERE??? I am so clueless....we got an aquarium and some fish & I figured that out, they have been alive for going on 3 days now, hard to believe!!!
I must say tho, the family room has turned out 500% better than we imagined, I'm just sooooooo glad its done. Cruise here we come !!!!!!!!! Welcome to all the new people, we are: me, Lisa, DH Brian, DD19, DD14 (and that one may not come if she does't straighten herself out, ughhhh) but hey thats a whole nother story, ask me about the cooking oil and the dog and the 10 baths it took to get her clean and she is a LONG haired sheltie, go ahead ask me..... :wave2:
I'm back & will be posting alot more now.....Bye & stay safe!

Hi Everyone
I am really feeling discouraged. No docs yet. Seems like everyone has gotten theirs.
Please Please tell me are you having to be home to sign for them?? Or are they just being left??
Sandy glad you came through Jeanne ok. I was glued by the TV on Saturday night watching the weather channel as Jeanne was hitting land. That must have been really scary. Anyone heard how Port Canaveral held up?

Hello Everyone........
Glad everything's OK Sandy.........It's been hard for me to post lately, but I've been thinking about you.......I've been so busy, babysitting, picking up the slack of those who have forgotten what their phone numbers are and stuff...........but still have time to be excited about the cruise, hope everything is OK down south.........I'd be very disappointed missing a Disney Cruise 2 YEARS IN A ROW!!.........Hope our guys accomplished something today at the rally.......I was scared to go to work! See ya'll really really soon!!!! Good night........Jill

We had sooooo much fun at Drew's party can't wait until the cruise that is going to blow us away. Nicole is hoping to be able to get a balloon for Robert at the party there......after all is was impossible at the party on Sat as they were all taken..........lol....
Sandy, glad all is well with you, you should be the official greeter on ship you have been through enough and deserve it.
Gotta get ready for the crew here chat later..........julebobo

First..... to Lisa62064....nuh uh, no way...I'm not asking! It sounds way too messy to even imagine!
Second....to Barb...hang in there, we haven't gotten ours yet either. I'm beginning to think we are going to have to take out a loan to pay for all the drinks we are going to have to get you guys.
Third...to Julebobo....first of all....if you are going to offer to babysit you really should give out YOUR number and not the number of your neighbor (who by the way, never answers her phone). Second of all....there were plenty of balloons at that party. It's not our fault your family was too busy hanging around the "secret cooler" and wasn't in line when they gave them out. You know that ancient saying about alcohol and balloons not mixing....you don't? Well, you never were any good at history.

Sandy - Glad you and your family are safe.
Mickey02 - I did not have to sign for my docs. They came UPS. I asked a Disney Rep prior to them arriving and she said they do not have to be signed for. Not sure who you booked with but we booked w/Disney online.
Let's hope this is the end of the bad weather for Florida and the E. Carribbean. My daughter is getting school pics today and it's been raining like crazy up here in PA. Good day for ducks but not for pics! Come to think of it I don't even think the ducks like this much water.

SAndy, glad you and your family are doing well. Let's hope that's the end of it for a while.
No docs here yet. Who was the one that said the last person to get their docs had to buy everyone drinks? What a silly thing to say. Maybe we didn't get our docs yet because they are giving us all upgrades. Yeah, that's it!
Well, I have the kids Halloween costumes for the MNSSHP. My 5 year old is "The Flash"....a pretty cool costume. And, think of the nerdest person my oldest could be? Yes, Frank wants to be Harry Potter for halloween. Can we all say Nerd? I tried to show him the mummy costumes and the ninja costumes but he wants to be Harry Potter! I kept my mouth shut but deep down I just want the kid to be cool! Why oh WHY?
We leave for Florida in 2 weeks. I can't wait. The only hurricane I want to see while on that ship are the ones you order from the bar!!!

Third...to Julebobo.... It's not our fault your family was too busy hanging around the "secret cooler"
There was a SECRET COOLER? I wasn't aware of any, second the balloon were designated to the OTHER crowd and third the phone # you insisted on calling is a seasonal person. And if she were theree she would have answered and it would have been PERFECT!

Hi Everyone,
Well our docs finally arrived in Australia on Monday. Don't know why but I wasn't as exited as all you guys are....though I was pretty excited when my MNSSHP tickets arrived....
Anyway, I booked through DU and when you all started getting your docs I contacted our agent and she contacted DCL who said they had been posted the day before. Our agent said they are posted out by DCL in no particular order. But since we leave on Sunday I was starting to worry they might not show up in time..
Just confirming the wine party is at 2.30pm MONDAY (deck 7). If that changes after Sunday 3rd can someone slip a note under our door on the cruise?

Sandy, I am glad that you are back here and that you and your family came through this hurricane safe and sound.
It has been said that the last one to get their docs will buy everyone a drink, but I think we should all buy Sandy a drink. I can't imagine going through what she has been through in the last month. My hat's off to anyone who goes through two hurricanes in one year and hasn't lost their sense of humor.
My granddaughter came up to me last night (3 1/2 yrs old) and said she wanted her "case". I kept asking her what she wanted, because I didn't understand her. After saying "case" three or four times, she said (in a rather loud voice) "my blue CASE!!!" I finally realized she meant her suitcase. I told her that I had it in a very safe place. I don't want her getting into it as it is filled with new coloring books and sticker books. I want to save some surprises for her for the plane trip on the 16th.
Our DCL DVD came in the mail yesterday. I can't believe how beautiful the ship is!

Hi All,
We have our docs, Yippee !!! I was in a meeting all day, came home and while checking the disboards read there was an earthquake in central CA...I didn't feel a a thing, and my meeting was in a VERY central part of CA. Of course I've been in 3 earthquakes in my life, the biggest the one in Alaska in the 60s. That one was incredible...we all ran outside and watched the ground move up and down like a seesaw.

Just wanted to pop in and say "Hi". We're on the 10/16 - dd (9), dh and I. Our docs arrived this weekend. I'd been trying to figure out how to read this thread (my computer doesn't like the length of it, lol) so (duh) I tried starting at the end.
Anyway, we are really excited to be taking our first Disney Cruise :bounce:

Oh yea, and we should have our docs by Thursday pm. Not really excited about that either but need to get them as we leave Friday, the 8th and I am excited about that. Really need this vaka so if no one sees me for the first few days me and vandawho will be at the bar with Goofy................

Welcome, Jeanne! We are excited too!
Gloria...my DGD is also 3 1/2 and she gets very indignant when I have to ask her what she has said more than two times. The hands go on her hips, her words get louder (not clearer, just louder) and her face gets all squinty. They are funny. Scary, but funny.
Julebobo...I do believe the "secret cooler" was actually kept in your car, was it not?
Have to get ready for work..talk to you all later.

OK- heres the story about the cooking oil & the dog. It all started when I woke up last Sunday morning and found a saucepan filled with what I thought was water on the back burner of the stove. My DD19 is a health freak and I always find saucepans with vegetable water sitting until I dump them out after she has eaten the vegetables. So what do I do? I start to pour it down the sink, only to my dismay that I find it is not water, but in fact it is vegetable oil. I know this is not my DD19's doing- she wouldnt dream of eating anything deep fried, let alone cook with oil. I knew it had to be DD14 who doesnt eat anything UNLESS its deep fried LOL (isnt it amazing how 2 kids can be soooooooo different) so after I calmed down and chased the oil with about 5 minutes worth of hot water down the sink, I questioned DD14. Oh yes she made french fries after we had all gone to bed last night. OH. so I said, "you know I dont like you to cook oil on the stove not to mention its not good for you to eat like that, plus you never clean up & guess whos left with the mess" blah blah blah. So I told her to go down & dump the rest of the oil in the weeds, which translates to take it down PAST the treeline & back INTO the woods. Well she stood there as I watched from the window & did what I told her NOT to do. The oil went right at the treeline and the dog was out. Well, you can guess what the dog did, as dogs do doesnt matter how much you pay for that pedigree. We were sitting, DH Brian & I, and guess who wanders over....a WET dog. not wet from water, mind you. WELL Brian just starts laughing, and for some reason that set me off big time....and then the dog had to have a bath....and a bath......and another bath....ect.....and the moral to this story is for all you kids out there reading: THERE IS ALWAYS A REASON YOUR PARENTS TELL YOU TO DO SOMETHING A CERTAIN WAY. And there my friends is the oil & dog story. WHEW I need a vacation.

WOO HOO! We finally have our electricity back!!! I'm so happy. At first the power company said we might not get it back until Oct. 12. I don't think I'd be able to handle that.
Still no school for DS. Maybe Monday. Kids have missed 17 days (so far) because of hurricanes. I feel very guilty about taking him out for the cruise now. We REALLY need this vacation though.
Welcome Jeanne/scrapcreator and family! :boat:
