Tom-- First it is a father's duty to teach the children the proper use of "sentance enhancers" when my daughter was 2 she thought that power outlets were called "sonofa*****es" after observing my trying to wire the basement. Second, remember that as men we are only allowed to drink fruity drinks when next to or on the ocean ( I mean I'm OK with my fruity dirink side, but the guys at the office don't need to know ;) )

Jen 1 and Jen 2 - there were 967 children in my elementary school in the 70's -- 94 of whom were named Jen and 236 were named Ryan- I couldn't walk into a mall without hearing ten mothers yell out my name (my mother distinguished mine by using Tom's daughter's new favorite word as my middle name)

And all of you lurker Dads-- Suck it up and post like a man, we are going on a big boat where we can act like pirates!!!!

To a mom used to being able to pick up the phone and "reach out and touch someone" it's kind of like communication withdrawal to only be able to talk on Saturdays and St. Thomas days and to send e-mails that may go unread for a week. I'm more used to e-mail ping pong conversations. At least I know she's having a fantastic time.

Heidi, I checked out the cabins you listed and they're two cat 4s, two cat 7s, one cat 8 and two cat 11s. We're not picky. Interestingly enough, DCL also lists cat 5 as available. Curiouser and curiouser.

DH checked the TV schedule and said "it's starting" so at 10:00 I checked out to the TV to dream about the Magic for an hour. We taped it this time so I can show Mom who doesn't have cable. Hey everyone...DH said that I should probably read this thread since I may be "meeting" some of you on the cruise. No problem I said. So this is how my day went yesterday...I put my kindergartener (Sarah) on the bus yesterday afternoon and I put Abby (damnit) down for a nap and I sat down in front of the computer. Two and a half hours later Abby was awake and I wasn't even half way through the thread. I turned on Abby's favorite movie "Meemo" (also known as Finding Nemo) and sat down for another hour and a half...still not done reading and time to pick Lindsey and Sarah up from school. No time for the computer, need to make dinner, go tanning, soccer practice, homework, watch a movie with DH...by the time I am able to finish reading the thread it is up to 51 pages! But I did it! I read all 51 pages...I even stayed up past my bedtime just to get it done and now I'm afraid that I am going to be addicted just like the rest of you!!!

In the scene after Jack Sparrow is stranded on the island and he's looking for rum, they had planned on showing him finding a bottle (of rum) and mixing up a round of strawberry daiquiris for Elizabeth and himself. It just never made it past the cutting-room floor. :confused:

Well Ryan, I went to an all-girl high school and there were many more Jennifer's than Ryan's there. :D Of the 150 of us in my graduating class there were almost 30 Jennifer's and the majority of those were "Jennifer Lynn" (myself included, obviously)

(and Jason, i will admit that i am going to go pop Pirates of the Carribean in to the DVD player to watch the out-takes for that scene! i love anything daiquiris)

And to my fellow tanners/burners .... the %&(# thing got me too!!! I went last night into the stand-up tanner for 10 minutes and i am a bit ... ummm... toasty! Will now take a few days off before going back again. (i had started on saturday for 6 minutes, then monday for 8 minutes, then yesterday for 10 minutes)

Tanning bed gals, 3 words: spray on tan! Has anybody tried the tanning mist? My friend did it for her wedding and looked great, might help you guys avoid painful burns! I'm ouching in sympathy every time I read one of the burn posts! Personally, I gave up trying to absorb any color-- but you can find me in the dark because I glow, kind of a nuclear pale!!:cool:

Hey all...finally an active day on this thread! I LOVE IT!

Amber--ROFLMAO at the scurvy cure!! That's a great idea!!! Add the mojito to another drink I haven't tried...hot damn more liquor to add with the cuvee, konk kooler, bushwackers, guavaberry, and now mojito's! Vacations rock! LOL I am so going to be hurling! Better stock up on the water, ibuprofen and $$$ for more drinks! I've done the spray on tan thing and I love it BUT I need a color base so I don't fry up like a piece of Southern Chicken! I'd much rather get burned at home (not at all but better home than on vacation) so I can stay out of the sun until it's gone. Also the burns from a tanning bed aren't as bad to me as a regular sunburn though still suck! They sting more.

Tom--OH MY GOD you are killing me here! LOL on the just had to try the Konk Kooler! I'm sure someone was twisting your arm right??? LOL Hahahaha on yelling at monkeyboy to get you a drink. Amber, My friend Kristi who is going on this cruise with us mentioned the posibility of the spray-on-tan. I'll be interested to hear how it turns out. I have heard very good things about the spray-on-tans but i decided to go with my old stand-by - the tanning booths! In the past i have always done the tanning beds, but this time i am trying the stand-up and i have to say it is much stronger than the beds. (and this reply kinds sounds like i am talking about something other than tanning :D )

Heidi, Be careful while tanning tonight, my friend... we don't want a repeat of last week's burn. And i have been loading up on the aloe lotion all day today and am in pretty good condition now, thank goodness!

And i am clueless ... what is a mojito ... am i going to be adding that to my list of things to try?

Mojito
(from Die Another Day)

2 oz. light rum
1 oz. lime juice
2 teaspoons sugar
fresh mint
soda water
lime slice
In a tall glass, muddle the mint leaves, sugar and lime juice. Fill the glass with ice, add rum and stir. Top with soda water, and garnish with lime slice and a mint sprig.

Hi All! Yeppers, quite an active thread lately - cool!

I've done the spray tan thing ONCE and going back for another next weekend. I wanted to "try" it out first weeks in advance to see how it went. I am a fair blonde and tend to burn at first, so I figured I'd try this spray on so I wouldn't be scaring anyone away who might think I'm a ghost... It was pretty cool - worked great and lasted about a week if that.. Very quick and a few spots I had "patches" but that was becuase it was my first time and I didn't use the barrier cream where I should have...:confused:

I too would like to know more about this mojito!! Jason, you've already convinced me to give the FT Cuvee a whirl, now theres no stopping me!! just kidding.. I imagine theres no way in h*ll I'll be able to keep up with all you partiers, but I'll definetly be living vicariously through ya'll!!!!!!!!!!!

Travis--Why yes someone did say Jack Daniels (it in fact was JASON) so no wonder you were craving Jack and Coke all day long. Seems that the 2 of you need to down a few him for the taxes and you for the cravings! LOL

JenL--The spray on tan thing is really awesome BUT if you burn you will still burn. I also have found it really wears off quickly if you shave like your legs and also if you are in chlorinated water. It is a great alternative to spending days in a tanning salon or out in the sun and I plan to do it the day before we leave for our trip..at least the beginning of the cruise I will still hopefully have some left on me! I had the same problems as Tracey did though with the patches and splotches where the cream was thicker or the skin didnt get exfoliated good enough but all in all a pretty easy way to LOOK tan!!! I have heard that the stand up beds are more potent! I just got back from the same bed as last week for the same amount of time so unless I am thinking the wrong way I shouldn't get any MORE burned this time than I did last time right?? Of course this time I used an accelerator so who knows! The aloe helps as does drinking a TON of water surprisingly! We will be watching American Idol and I will be drunk and drooling over the famous Mr. Cowell! I think he is SO hot!!!:teeth: We will also be watching the Jazz in the last game of the season that doesn't mean squat now since they are out of the playoff race but oh well..still fun to watch!!!

Tracey--Good idea to do it long before so you know the mistakes to avoid! I did it once before something (can't remember what) and it looked terrible. The machine was a different type of machine and put it on different and oh my it looked like SH**! Just make sure you slather on the sunscreen as well...I kind of forget that part! DUH! Oh we'll get you partied up with all of us...you can count on it! Just drink loads of water and some ibuprofen and you will be able to party with us!!!!! I will make a lush out of you yet!:tongue: I want to try a mojito too although tequila and rum tend to make me sick to my stomach as does wine usually...but hey I'm on vacation...LOL. I love all the guys on here too! Now Jason and Travis don't have to feel so alone! LOL Poor them dealing with all us women folk!! They can all drink MANLY drinks together and we can all get froo froo drinks! LOL

Kathy--sorry to hear you got disconnected! That sucks!! Maybe you should write in a word document and then cut and paste..at least that way if you got booted you wouldn't lose what you had typed out.

For what it's worth, I can't complain about the whole tax thing. I usually have a refund at the end of the year but last August I cashed out a 401K and an employee profit sharing plan that I had been growing for the past 8 years. The penalties were steep! :)


In reality, I don't touch that Jack Daniel's stuff. I'll admit it, when I do drink I like foo-foo drinks or wine/champagne. And I'm proud of it! :teeth:

Hi all, remind me to see all of you early in the day. From the sound of it you'll be wasted by dinner. At least Disney does the driving so we don't have to worry about any of you crashing..at least not your cars.

Heard from DD today and they posted availability . :( ..but only for the 4/24 and 5/22 cruises. So unless they change what's posted, then we have to pay MUCH closer to full price. So we we're considering options about whether we want to REALLY splurge or just save our money and do the parks. Talked to my aunt and she said she wasn't planning to live forever and she couldn't take the money with her so we'll may just cough up and go. Oh well, it's only money and we're making memories.

Now I wait for DD to check her e-mail or talk to her on Saturday (and today's only Wednesday:crazy:) so we can get something confirmed. She's the only one who can book the cruise for us unless we want to pay FULL price and as Heidi says, that's a LOT.

We're going to have a great time no matter what we do. Glad some more folks are checking in. The DisMeet will be a blast. And then we'll keep seeing each other during the week and laughing cause we know all about those crazy folks.

Well, the family has has a pow wow and the consensus is to let DD book whatever she can get with whatever discount she can get and just suck it up and pay for it. My only concern is that if I don't hear from her till Saturday, all the rooms will be taken. Believe it or not, there's availability on the 4/24 sailing and they show fewer rooms available (6) than the 5/1 sailing. Hope we haven't given DCL false ideas about interest by checking every time we turn around.

Did find out that the really great rates are not only space available but you can be bumped for paying passengers so guess it's better to have a guaranteed room.

Now we WAIT........AGAIN. This is when I'm tempted to pay ship to shore rates to give that child a call...only I don't know her cabin number and she probably wouldn't be in it if I did call. Hey folks, kids don't JUST drive you crazy when they're little, I think it's a permanent condition.

My kids gave me a mother's day pin years ago that read" Insanity is hereditary...I caught it from my kids".

Next week at this time we will be in a nice British Airways Plane onour way to Orlando.I decided,that if I go on holiday ever again,I won´t tell nobody in advance,and just disappear.They go crazy and loaded me with work untill Tuesday,so no weekend for me.:mad:

Quick question ....
Does anyone know approximately what the taxi fair is from the port to Coki Beach in St. Thomas? Joe and Chris (my friend's dh) are planning on diving at Coki Beach and the dive shop will pick us up and take us from the port to the beach. The price for the guys is included in the price of the dive, but the price for those of us not diving is $10 one-way. Just wondering if we'd be better off taking a cab (there will be 4 of us paying the $10 charge each).

Jen, sorry this response is late in coming..... my 3 y/o dd's name is Emily (just turned three in Feb). She has been potty trained since December with very very RARE accidents, but she doesn't do the "paperwork" herself yet, which I understand is a requirement of the kids club. I am still going to take her to the clubs though. My plan is to take her potty right before taking her to the clubs, and then check back frequently and take her potty myself, so hopefully it won't be an issue. I don't think your dd will get kicked out of the club for accidents, lots of potty trained kids still have accidents!!

Heidi, you are too funny. Sorry that my room is not going to be able to be party central. I would have a great time, but remember, I am traveling with MY MOM, and I don't think she would approve, lol. :rolleyes: Plus, I don't anticipate spending much time in the room anyway!

Hey Linda ....
When we were on our last Disney cruise, Madalyn was 34 months old or so. She took one look at the Mickey slide and knew she wanted to try it ... they let her on without any trouble. I was a bit worried about her, but there is a CM at the top of the slide and another at the bottom. So, i'd think they'd let Emily do it, too!

Linda--I'm glad you have a sense of humor! Sometimes things come off on a board totally opposite of their meaning! I do really just want a quick peek...I won't stay long and I wont bring anything besides maybe a diet coke in there with me?? LOL And hopefully you can leave mama and the kids and come party with us because you know once you get with us wacko's the time just flies by! We aren't big stay up late party people either (I know what most of you are thinking but we arent) but the time just slips by with a few drinks and a lot of laughing! I've never understood why they to the tropic......party the night before immigration either! Why not do it like the 1st full day at sea on Sunday or something where people don't have to get up! I dont get it. Of course we'll be having our own deck party about then in our cabin.. Poor room service kids are going to hate us by the end but we will tip them well!!! About the slide..Tanner was 3 last time we went and he went on that thing about 250 times and there was no problem. I think its for 3-12 or something like that or a you can't be taller than this sign to go...I know he went and it wasn't a problem at all...other than he didn't get to do it more on later days!!! Especially since it doesn't enter the pool its pretty calm..it just ends at the bottom on a red squishy water mat. I'm sure she will be just fine!!!

Travis..I'll be waiting to hear if you got your coke or not! And calling in sick..now that is what I wish I could do TODAY! I NEED A BREAK FROM KIDS!!!!!!! At least one of them is home with me every day all day until next Tuesday when they are all in school (though Tanner is only gone from 12:30 to 3:30) it's a NICE break!

Thanks Heidi, for the info regarding the slide. I thought I had read somewhere that the age limits for the slide were 4 to 12 and over 36 inches. She is over 36 inches, but I wasn't sure if she was going to be able do the slide because of the age. Glad to hear that it won't be a problem.

Awwwe come on!!! It's vacation!! Who needs sleep? I find sleep tends to sober you up and thus resulting in hangover. Now that would be poor planning. Anyway I get enough sleep in the office, er, i mean at home.

As for the slide... When I took DD, they did ask how old she was (just shy of 3 at the time), and also asked if she had been on a water slide before. (guess cause she was young). To which i replied yes... A slide in your back yard that has been hosed down counts as a water slide right?? :scratchin But they let her go with no probs.

Linda--I'm sure that dd will be able to participate in the slide no problem! My Tanner was pretty average size at being 3 1/2 and he had no problem ever. I relate though about if not the fireworks would flow! I"m going to have that happen to me at Rock N Rollercoaster in MGM with Tanner. He's 2 inches short of the 48 height restriction...it's going to get ugly!!! OH well..nothing that a little bribery cant fix!pirate:

Hey Linda, I understand about having a little daredevil ... Madalyn has no fear it seems. She is on a gymnastics team and whenever we go to the park the rest of the mom's run to her to "help" her when she climbs the monkey bars and stuff. They are probably thinking to themselves "Where is this poor child's mother who is just letting her climb up these tall monkey bars?" :rolleyes: She loves it all and has no fear.

And Heidi, LOL about the poor room service people ... Madalyn was just asking me if she can order breakfast in bed and will they bring her anything she wants ... yes, she is a little princess. princess: The current debate between Teddy and Madalyn is "Who gets to sleep in the top bunk?" Last time they both slept in the top bunk at opposite ends ... I am hoping we can do the same thing this time.

And as for immigration on St. Thomas day .... well, we will be there and joe may be wearing his bowtie, but Teddy, Madalyn and I will still be in our pj's! It is vacation and i plan on sleeping in any chance the children will give me!

I have a quick question about immigration. I am not sure what everyone is talking about..... I imagine it is some kind of new thing since 9/11, we haven't cruised since 2000 and don't ever remember having to do that. I guess that means I will actually have to bring jammies!;) BTW- I certainly hope I will get to meet some of you, you all sound like such a blast! We will be traveling with our best friends from childhood and we really only like each other when we are drunk!!! Just kidding! But is sure is fun...

Oh so JEN YOU"RE the mom I always want to tsk tsk at the park! JUST KIDDING...I'm totally detached from my kids at the park too because I know what they can and can't do! LOL LOL at your princess wanting breakfast in bed! That is something McKaylee and Miles both want to do...they think it's so cool. I for one would rather go to the buffet and load up on waffles and fruit but I'll do it once for them (oh the sacrifices of being a parent!:rolleyes: :p :p ) Our kids know better than to fight about stuff like the bunk otherwise they have to sleep on the floor! LOL We just rotate them back and forth until we leave to come home..it seems to work out well and they haven't yet figured out that one of them gets 1 extra turn! LOL Oh joy when they do! NOT I'll be there in my PJ's as well, probably my hangover breath and hair and a really grumpy demeanor as I HATE MORNING! I hate everything about morning!!! *Then I wake up a little bit and realize but when it's morning I can start drinking again* and then I"m once again happy~! We leave in (since today is almost over)12 days! 11 if you don't count the day we leave and count today as almost over! LOL

hannah&kate----The immigration thing is when we get to St. Thomas everyone on the ship has to report to the main theatre and go through Immigration since the ship went to a foreign port first and THEN to a US port we all have to go through immigration. Supposedly it takes 10-20 min to get through and they have doughnuts *krispy kreme I hear* and coffee and juice while you wait! I think if memory serves me correctly it is at about 6am. According to the docs with the cruise stuff All non us and US citizens are required to present themselves upon arrival in St. Thomas USVI. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by these requirements. Please understand that the inspections are required by US Immigration law and we have no choice but to ensure that all required persons attend. The ship cannot be cleared for Guests to disembark until ALL required passengers (including children) have presented themselves to US Immigration. Me personally I don't understand why they can't do the route backward and do St. Thomas first and then go to St. Marten..seems it ends up being the same distance either way..but we will present our nasty looking selves to immigration, scare the living hell out of everyone around us and then go back to bed for a few hours! To hell with this getting off the ship at 7am! I'm going to go to bed as long as I can!! LOL

It must be the second child, bc my youngest daughter, Kate is a crazy girl. In fact we were thinking about making her official nickname "crazy" instead of Katie......She has been to the emergency room 3 times to my oldest daughters 1(M&M up her nose). I need a vacation so badly and can't wait to get crazy! We've never criused with the kids before(3 cruises alone) wondering how this cruising with kids meshes with partying?

Also-hard day at work, forgot today was tax day and we need to file 2 separate state returns so I am congratulating myself on my amazing quick tax work with my other favorite drink, a Manhattan!

A key lime martini is 3.5 oz of Vanilla Vodka and 1 oz of Roses Lime Juice, shake well with ice.....Its Harsh, but ohhhhh so good. My friend Patty and I had a "cruise planning session" a few weeks back(she is an independant cruise agent) and we got so smashed I peed my pants and spilled wine(I didn't even know I was drinking wine) on her floor. We both made up a song about how nobody appreciates mommy on the harmonica "blues" style. Our husbands(Pat and Mike) who had disowned us several hours before were cracking up. Ask Patty about that night, she doesn't even remember.....which is nice since I was the one who spilled the wine...

Jennifer---my wild child is my 3rd and LAST ONE THANK GOD! He has done you name it! One day while I was playing frisbee with our collie he was in here with the backyard hose spraying down my bed, filling my curio cabinet with water, put about 1/2 inch of water in my front room and soaked all the carpet in his room and mine along with making my bed a soggy mess to sleep in!~ It was AWFUL! We call him Satan most of the time! He's taken the sheets off our bed, pulled them into the master bath and flushed...you name it! Fortunately I guess none of them has needed a trip to the ER! LOL Way to go on the tax stuff! I'd be celebrating as well....and I LOVE when people get chatty!

As for drinking the key lime martini.............YOU GO GIRL! As for embarrasing drinking stories I have one of those as well!!! I've done what you did let me tell you! Along with my "thong" issue in Cancun and people watching me and laughing at me drunk off my keister Ryan and I went on a bus to a local club called Daddy Rock. We bought a wristband for like 20 bucks and got all we could drink. Well they had gin and I'd been drinking vodka tonics so having a pitcher of gin was amazing. Then they had these like lime slurpee things that were SO good and I drank so much so fast and got wasted off my butt. We decided to take a taxi back to the hotel because we were too wasted to remember the stop to get off at. We were walking back to our villa and it was all steps of concrete and I had a skirt on and Ryan said something that made me laugh and I just peed all over the steps...just let it rip! LOL I'm so glad I'm not the only one to get drunk and pee! Ryan doesn't disown me he eggs me on! LOL

Heidi and Jennifer-- Lordy you two, I too have a peeing story but I'll save it for the cruise (the story is set in Tijuana so you KNOW it's really embarassing!). Thank God there's other incontinents, DH thinks I'm the only one! A key lime martini sounds fantastic, in my opinion lime is God's gift to alcohol! And Jennifer, I was taken to the ER on several occasions to have things removed from my nose as a child including pearls from Mom's necklace, yikes!! No permanet damage (unless they forgot one and it traveled to my brain, that would explain alot !)

Travis-- you will have to try a mojito in Key West, we didn't get a chance on the Western last year and I was so bummed. They are supposed to be awesome there-- a tribute to Hemingway, it was his favorite drink.

Hi all--

Just a quick check in. I'm afraid I won't be around much after tomorrow around noon. I'm captain of a team for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. For those who don't know, it's an 18 hour fundraising event that kicks off tomorrow (in our area at least) at 6:00 PM and runs through Saturday at 12:00 noon. At least one member from our team has to be present (walking, running, jogging, crawling) on the sports track at all times during the event. So, if you should happen to wake up at 2:30 in the morning on Saturday, think of me walking around a track!

Do any of you know if the Disney bartenders can make a really good NON-ALCOHOLIC fruit drink?

I know I'm in the middle of a shipful of lushes but I just never developed the taste for it so wondered if any of you who have cruised before knew of any really good stuff for me to try. Maybe something special you've asked to be made for the under 21 set.

Seems like a shame to go on the cruise and limit my beverages to iced tea and cokes - the FAT kind - believe it or not, I'm allergic to nutrasweet and I DON'T need a migrane on the cruise.

To answers everyone's question...I haven't heard from DD. Since she's communicatively challenged while on the ship, I probably won't hear until Saturday...and then she'll say she can't do anything until Sunday because Saturday is embarkation and debarkation day for the crew. If she would check her e-mail she has instructions. This child and I are going to have a LOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGG talk about how suspense and lack of communication is bad for her mother's health.

Just got back from a little shopping. DH needed a new pair of tennies and new jeans. We actually got him another tropical type shirt. Man, he's getting wild in his old age! Found a tankand blouse combo to match a pair of capris I have so it was a successful night.

I just realized that I havent' had any dinner so I better grab a bite.

Jason - Relay for life - how great for you. We'll be thinking of you this weekend - here's hoping to great success for your team:) The teachers at my youngest DD's school also do Relay for Life. The kids are in the middle of a contest to see who can sell the most orange and black paw prints for 25 cents each. Its alot of fun and the winning class gets a pizza party.

Well - two weeks from now we'll be on a plane heading south.

We finally have nice weather here - sun and in the 60-70's for the entire weekend.

Between my 2 girls we have 7 soccer games and a 4 hour training session (oh and 3 hour drive on Monday to compete against a team from Delaware and New Jersey) - and not to forget, dance rehearsals for next weekend's dance show for my youngest DD. Did I mention I need a VACATION!!!!

Well, we have been spared ER visits, though Teddy did once spray himself in the eye with grass-killer ... that was not a pretty scene.

And Reine, along with having their drink of the day special with alcohol, they also have smoothie of the day specials without. And as Jason said, most of the drinks available with alchohol are also available without.

The DW went down (not what you pirates are thinking pirate: ) with a little stomach bug last night so we weren't on, but all seems ok today. Better at home then on the crusie at least.

Our kids know better than to fight about stuff like the bunk otherwise they have to sleep on the floor!

The best were the Miami Vice (haven't had one with alcohol YET but it's coming this trip!) and all the daquiris can be made without! Hope you hear from DD soon! Jason--Hope the walk goes well for you! The weather looks to be pretty nice down there today. Those souvenier glasses were the first time (on Carnival) that I ever had a froo froo drink with alcohol in it. Me being young and naiive and from Utah the land of the alcohol repressed I didn't even think about them having alcohol in them. We hadn't eaten breakfast as we knew we'd eat a huge buffet lunch so we started downing that drink. We have pictures of us looking wasted and goofy in the elevator...and that was the start of my "liquid xanax" days! LOL

Conny--I hope the photo sessions go well and the weekend flies by for you! I can't wait..only 2 more Friday's til we have our G&T at the POR pool! You still have my first and last name right?? Real quiet Friday night on the Boards.

Tracey, I'm reasonably sure I'll hear from Robyn tomorrow morning...I'm just not sure I'm gonna like what I hear!

I had a really busy day at work today. Microsoft came out with new security patches on Tuesday and I had to get reports from the field about how complete our patching effort was. Not really difficult, but tedious and time consuming. And guess what... after we get all the patching done and I get the reports completed, we get to do it ALL OVER AGAIN ...Next month. I shouldn't whine. I have a job and I guess you could consider it a form of job security. That's what I have to look forward to when I get back from vacation. The May security patch release.

Well it's time to go to bed. I've been reading the trip reports from folks and the posts on the Board and now my mouse hand is aching. That didn't happen when I was 25...but then we did computer entry on punch cards then too! For you younger ones, be glad you missed it...NO backspace...NO spell check. NO DisBoards...EEEK.

I just yawned for the forth time so I'm gonna suit actions to words.

FINALLY talked to DD today. She went to WDW on a department sponsored outing and she didn't call me until almost 12:00.

Naturally she hadn't checked her e-mail so didn't know what we wanted her to do. Anyway, I gave her instructions and she called reservations and signed our life away for two cabins.

We booked Cat 11 and there were two listed on cruise.com at the time. Now Cat 11 is listed as GTY so we are probably in 6015 and 6101...unless for some reason we get an upgrade. We get our Docs at the port so won't know definitely till then. Maybe we're joining the mahem on Deck 6.

DH is getting in the cruise mood. He wore SHORTS and tropical shirt to work today. I think that's the first time he's worn shorts in 10 years. He expresses his excitement in a different way than I do. In case you haven't figured out, I'm the outgoing one in the family.:crazy:

Jen, it was thoughtful to check just so you could see if we were going. WE ARE WE ARE WE ARE

I finally got the the clip joint and got my hair cut...it was getting too long for the style. Paul will probably not like it again. I think the longest hair on my head is maybe 2 inches----well I measured and some hairs are 2 1/2!!! Think pepper and salt pixie cut I think there's still more pepper than salt but mom has beautiful snow white hair and I'm headed that direction. Just hope it's as pretty as hers when it gets there. The problem I have is the girl Paul married 30 years ago (me) had hair 4 or 5 inches below her shoulders... and that's still his preference. Unfortunately for him, it hasn't been very long for about 28 years. And the older and lazier I get, the shorter it gets.

Don't want to make anyone feel bad but it's back to spring here. Upper 70's and sunny but real windy.

Just think, 2 weeks from now the lifeboat drill will be almost over and we can begin to dream of the ship MOVING and hearing the Wish Horn.

Cm Mom- I am new to the boards but have a few comments to you. I too, regardless of my family picture on 3circles have really short hair, maybe 3 inches at best. Very becoming! Do you feel like you look good(and I bet you do.....)? My husband, strange to say, loves me with short hair. I had short hair when I was 15 and met him. Besides, it is foolish to hide this beautiful face behind hair(For those who don't know me, I used to be a little vein but then I had 2 kids and gained 20 lbs and about 10 years.....). I used to say that before I got wrinkles.

Anyway, congrats... can't wait to meet you. My mommy's(yes I am 31 and I still call her mommy) main priority is her kids and it sounds like you have the same attitude. And my mommy is still too young to be 53 in calendar years.....she is a buddhist(although she has not yet renounced all her material possesions ie her Lexus or her country club... we are waiting though....). and does yoga and golfs 18 holes a day.. Young is a state of mind...

My computer geek(self proclaimed) husband made fantastic homemade Margarita's tonight. We don't have a grill and we had 78 degree weather today. What do you do without a grill on this nice day......you steam shrimp in old bay and have margaritas

I know this sounds so corney, but I asked Jason to take our picture of 3 circles. My husband freaked about having the kids pictures on the internet. We just had an internet related kidnapping in Philadelphia and we decided that it wasn't worth the risk. I know where the meet is and I am sure we will run into you all sooner or later. We are on deck 6, which sounds like the party deck. I am a crazy woman at heart, but my kids help calm me down. After all, someone has to be sober to drive "crazy" to the emergency room......

We are expecting 82 degrees tomorrow in Philly and I am sure warmer in MD. We will waive to you as we drive through MD on the 28th down to FL. WE love to drive, and spend that extra "captive" family time in the car. Not to mention save $1700 on airfare. We have family in Cocoa and so we arrive the night before and will have a stretch limo take us to the port. The girls have their best dresses all picked out....that is, if I can convince my 5YO that she doesn't need to wear her snow white costume on embarkation day......uhhhh the trials of being a 5yolds mom....... Love her to death, but man is she exhausting.. She scored 3 goals at her soccer game today... Yay!!!!

Wie Gehts? I think that is how you say it....I took German for like 6 years but can't remember worth a damn unless I am drunk.....which was 80% of my trip when I was 16. My sister and I took a school sponsored trip to Munich and a ski resort area with 2 names can't remember it now. Garmish Parten Kirchen??? Garmish I think was what everyone called it. Loved it. Loved the beer, although it was a tad difficult to acutally pick up the second beer......

Reine - WAY TO GO!!! I was so excited when I read your post - see the cruise gods are smiling on you. I'm so glad that you were finally able to make your resevations.

Jennifer - I have a 5yo DD too - they can be so fun one minute and so trying the next. Since I have older DD's my little one is always trying to keep up with them - why can't I... ,my sisters do..., why can;t I - just fill in the blanks. Congrats to your daughter on her soccer game and the goals. Between my two DD's we spent all day today at the soccer fields - we left this AM at 5:30 for a 2 hour drive. Happy to report a total of 4 games today - 3 wins and 1 loss. More games tomorrow. We'll be in your neck of the woods for part of the day in Pottstown.

Heidi - sorry to hear about the weather - it just sucks when it goes from nice to yucky in only days - there should be some kind of law that once its nice outside it has to stay that way :cool:

We went for ice cream tonight and spent over ten dollars for 5 cones. I told my DH that in 2 weeks we can eat all the FREE ice cream we want.:hyper:

Twelve days and counting till we leave - suitcases all over the place, can't pack the shorts yet, we might need them before we leave.

I guess I didn't realize how close you were to us. Pottstown is just like 15 miles from us. Where in central PA, PA is a big state and thus lots of "central".... Yeah, my 5 yo(she's my oldest) and I just watched the Disney cruise vidoe twice. I swear, she can't get enough of it. Then she asked me to sing her a lullaby(so cute) so I sang her "Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor and she fell asleep before I even finished. If that isn't a picture perfect bedtime!!!! She laughed when I started cause she said that was a "rock song" lullaby but apparently it worked...

Good Luck on the Soccer Game tomorrow. Hannah just plays for West Mont so her game is like 1/2 hour of "beehive" soccer but hey a goal is a goal in my book!

Alice, don't know what I was thinking when I read the posts earlier. Excited maybe but I totally missed the question about POR. Sorry but we're leaving DFW at 9:07 PM getting to MCO at 12:31 AM. We're staying at the Hyatt. With the 50% SR citizen discount it's reasonable my main concern was to see how fast I can get my body horizontal. I'll probably take a couple of benedryl on the plane and I'll be sleeping as soon as my head hits the pillow. NOT I'll be too excited. :jester:

Anyway, DH and I both have to work that Friday. Then come home, pick up bags, meet DS, GMA and AM and head for the airport. DS is the chauffeur responsible for getting the cruisers to the airport.

FYI, GMA=grandma and AM=Auntie Mutt which is what I call my Aunt Myrtis. DA has too many other meanings for me to refer to her as that! And we long ago started referring to my mom as Grandma. When you get three generations, it's just easier.

We're doing Disney Transfers from the Hyatt to the port. We probably won't be the first on board since we have to pick up our docs at the port.

Conny, I can't remember when you leave but it's soon isn't it? Lucky, Lucky....Well maybe just good planning.

Tammy, congrats on the soccer games. Hang in there tomorrow.

Heidi, I understand about the weeds. I worked in the iris bed today and got about 10 feet of it cleaned out. Bermuda grass is the pits to clean out of an area. But I also got about 10 feet of the edging installed to I have some armor against the Bermuda. only 30 feet too go.:crazy2:

Jennifer, with the short hair one thing is certain. It's quick to wash and a bottle of shampoo lasts forever. Only problem is sometimes my cowlicks misbehave. Thank goodness for mousse.

Jennifer-Hhoah,I had to learn thie stupid poem in school as well and can only remember the first 2 lines.I think it´s called Der Erlkönig ,but I´m not 100% sure.And uns gehts gut.
3 more days(not counting today) and tons of work,so I´ll guess the packing has to wait till Wednesday.I tried very hard to leave this day free of work and so far it looks promising.Normally I get up 1 hour early before heading to the airport and thats a nono this time.I want to start relaxed.Dropped by my sister(she is living 1 floor below me and it seemed like she started packing but she has to work on Wednesday,so its probably a good idea.

Jason and Travis-how is the weather currently in Florida,Thinking of what to wear on the plane.Luckily the weather is improving over here.

Like Jen said, GORGEOUS weather here in MD - I actually had some free time yesterday and laid out in my backyard. Did manage to get a little burn which is usually how I start out anyway, so I call that a good accomplishment! lol..

I actually did manage to bring the suitcases up from the basement, but thats the only "cruise related" thing I've done! Oh, does watching Pirates of the Caribbean count?? lol.. :earseek:

Another beautiful day - Logan's first soccer game is this afternoon, so I'm going to go yell and scream and root him on like only a soccer mom can! LOL..

Good morning all--

I'm still recovering from the Relay for Life so you'll have to excuse me for not making this a long post. I ended up staying awake for 31 hours and probably 10 of those were spent walking around the track! The event did really well though and raised over $100,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Glad to see you finally got the ressies. Now all you have to do is pack and enjoy the cruise!

The daytime weather has been pretty nice here in Florida. We've had highs at about 80 or just above. The nights have still been cool, unseasonably cool, actually. During the Relay the temp hit 53 and we were all walking the track with sweaters, gloves, and comforters wrapped around us!

Jennifer - we actually live right outside (east side) of Hershey. My older daughter played a West-Mont team in the fall - out at the farm I believe? Some days I miss the beehive soccer - it is so cute to watch. Kaitlyn trains at Owen J Roberts school - so that's where they are heading today.

Tracey - good luck to Logan today at his game. Isn't it fun being a "soccermom" :bounce: At least we have a beautiful day to be outside and a nice chance to work on the tan :hyper:

Happy Sunday one and All!! It's another COLD one here! 40 degrees and raining AGAIN! Oh well..at least it will help our nasty drought situation right?? I'm nursing a hell of hangover today so my post will be shorter than usual (I'm sure you are all disappointed with that!) Geez it took me 10 min to read the thread this morning (some of that due to a nasty headache)so I'm just going to do the rest of this post fast and then off for more Ibuprofen!

Jen(aka hannahandkate) I've had long hair, short hair, long hair, short hair and now long hair again! I got tired of always having to style my short hair..now I just chuck it into a ponytail and off I go! Homemade Margaritas sound good (though not right now nursing a hangover)! Glad hubby played such a great bartender! We're taking a limo to the port as well and I say if your dd wants to wear snow white..let her! There were lots of little girls in minnie dresses and princess dresses on embarkation day!:teeth:

Tammy--I agree about the weather! Sounds like you had a productive soccer day! Ouch about the ice cream! I can't wait for that either! I want ice cream..ok go get one! LOL I need to get the suitcases and at least start throwing stuff in them respectively for the trip...but I have too bad of a hangover today to think about it! I can pack the shorts since the whole week is supposed to be cold and crappy!!

Reine--Too funny about quickest way to go horizontal...I feel that way after I travel too! We don't get in until 11 something on Wed night and I dread the drive to POR but oh well...it will technically only be 9 something in our brain and I am NOT going to go commando in the park the next day. We did that last time had PS at Cindy's castle for breakfast the morning after we got in at midnight and it was tough to get the kids going! We plan on doing it more leisurely this time! Can't wait to get there!

Conny--I'm so jealous that you only have 3 more days! I can't wait until I can say that! As of tomorrow we will be in single digits!:teeth: Can't wait for our meet at the POR pool on Friday!

Tracey--LOL about the pirates counting...I think it should I mean anything that has Johnny Depp in it counts for just about anything..yuummmy!~::yes:: Crappy weather forcasted here all week so I think I may start the short's packing early!

LOL I too was laughing my butt off at the thought of you in hat and gloves! 53 here is a heatwave lately! But I understand...when you are accustomed to heat...cool is hard to deal with! In Utah we get 2 different reactions to 50 degree weather. In the fall we wear gloves and jackets and in the spring we wear shorts, skirts and t-shirts (No, Joe, I don't wear a skirt, I don't have the legs for it)

Jennifer-- ah, the Margarita... Second on the list of classic boat drinks and the source of general mayhem. The smooth burn of the mexican whiskey with the sharp tartness of lime brings the rolling waves of the ocean. I'm for anything with tequila, with the exception of the hangover;)

The single fang protruding slightly over the lower lip and the standard eye patch are definitely reminiscent of pirate folk. The bananas of course add the needed tropical touch.

Ah Tammy ... I know and love Hershey, PA! In fact, each August i go scrapbooking for 4 days to Camp Hill and many of us make a side-trip to a scrapbooking store in Hershey.

Jason, great job on the Relay for life! It sounds like you had a very successful event. And i totally understand about the need for hat and gloves. I would have needed gloves too!

Short hair, long hair .... yep, i've done both... in fact, my hair was down the middle of my back for my wedding and then two days later i went and had it all cut off. I am now letting it grow long again ... and Heidi I am with you with the ponytail thing.

Yay for me!!! My girls are 100% packed with the exception of their formal dresses and those will just be put in the suitcase the night before. I actually had to spend this 84 degree day at the Mall bc mommy has no clothes. I have been about 4 different sizes in the last 6 years so nothing fits quite right. Of course, Hannah got a capri outfit and a dress , Dad got a new tie for formal night.....mom-zilch! Not for lack of trying though. My friend, Patty, who is traveling with us and I had the clothing discussion today. I know I am completely overpacking and over planning my wardrobe. Even though I like to believe it is "all about me", no one really cares what I wear. Every cruise we have been on has been bathingsuits all day and an outfit for night. Please someone talk me off the ledge-I don't need 7+ daytime outfits, right?

My husband made delicious crab cakes for dinner tonight. Again, 85 degrees and no grill. We threw ours out last weekend with the intention of buying a new one but the $$ ran out! Better than a restaurant. He's quite a catch, bartender, chef and all around funny guy!

Ryan, my husband is in IT as well. What do you do? I ask the question not knowing what I will do with the answer as I really have no grasp of the technical world..... Anyway, my husband, Pat, calls himself an applications "architect". I don't know whether that is like "sanitation engineer" or head bottle washer but he has been known to put computers thru the wall as well. He is like Tim the Tool Man Taylor with ours. I finally told him to keep his hands off, get his own machine to play with. :teeth:

Alright, I was up at 3 in the morning checking these boards bc I am too excited to sleep. Oh yeah and the fact that Kate got up in the middle of the night screaming because she needed help putting on her Dora "flippers"(slippers). Then my husband set off the security system at 6am about 15 minutes after I had finally fallen asleep. Needless to say, early to be for me. Busy 2 weeks ahead.

Well we finally got some good weather here in Michigan, sunny and in the high 70's all weekend, it was so nice. The winters are long here. So many people around here going crusing in the dead of winter and come back to the the dead of winter. We like going the first of May, we don't have to worry about snow storms and we come back to good weather here and can keep up our tans. My neighbor went in Feb. her tan lasted about a week. I can't believe the cruise is almost here, we have been waiting a long time. Got all the suitcases out this weekend just know were going to overpack, but who cares I just want to go! Traveling with 11 people should be real fun. Can you belive that I only received documents for one of our rooms? Called my TA on Sat and she said the other two packets were fed-exed on Friday so we should get them today. No upgrades for us.Hope you all have a great day!

Jason - Great Job on the Relay! Too bad more people don't get involved.

The weather's been so nice here this past weekend. That made it easier to work on the kitchen drain when it dumped water in my cabinet. We fixed that & when we were checking for water damage we noticed a cracked pipe in the basement & had to fix that too! Never a dull moment.
DH got the yard cleaned up & mowed. We're all done shopping for the trip so we're just waiting for this weekend to start packing!We have been trying to get the house in order before we leave since DS is staying home this trip. He's 18 & wants to stay home alone... OH BOY! We're alittle nervous about that.

We also had time to do our volunteer ambulance duty (we're both vol. EMT's with our local ambulance.Our son is a first aider there too. Both DH & DS are vol fireman also) by going to a county sponsored family safety day & answer calls.
We had to treat our son there. They have a building that they can start fires in for training. They were doing a demo for the people by starting a very large fire inside.Well DS got to go in & put the fire out. He comes out & shows us a large red burn area on his leg. Nothing too bad. When we pick him up later the other leg has a 5" area of burn on it with blisters. He's got a 2nd degree burn! That part I hate about EMS having to treat your family. Since we had the cream he needed at home we took him home & treated it there. I understand it's part of the job but I'm still mom. Today it looks much better. But now it's got me thinking about what if?? I know he's a big boy now & nana's only down the street & his dad's close by but mom & Bill aren't going to be there.
Today seems like a good day for a sick day! Everyone needs a mental health day! :smooth:

Not a lot going on here. We get Heidi's weather a couple of days later and it's now cloudy and occassionally scattered showers. Typical April.

Sorry Guys but we're not getting to do the Doc Dance since we'll be picking them up at the port. But I may be wiggling and jumping with so much excitement that everyone will think I'm dancing. GO CLOCK GO...GO CLOCK GO I did check with DCL today cause I wondered what to do about the transfers. They said that our names would be on the manifest and we could pick up luggage tags at the hotel on Saturday AM. For someone who usually plans everything meticulously, this trip will be an experience.

Lisa, thanks for the wishes. Sorry your DS got burned. It's SOOOO hard to let go but they get really aggravated if we don't. I've let go pretty much but have both my DS and DD convinced that it's a crime to come to my house and leave without giving me a hug. Embarassed the fool out of them when they were in high school with my "have you hugged your mother today?" line but I think they secretly enjoyed it.

We're beginning to get stuff sorted out and organized. I copied the "tips" from the list on the board into Word and I'm going through and deleting the duplicates and the ones that don't make sense for us....like suggestions for small kids. It will be interesting to see how much I can shrink 13 pages to.:magnify:

Brenda, haven't heard from you lately. Are you hiding or just quiet. I measured at Curves today and haven't lost as much as I hoped. But the original measurements were taken at lunch time and I weighed and measured after work today. We do normally gain weight during the day don't we:crazy: Anyway, some shrinkage but not enough. The true test is going to come when I weigh NEXT month AFTER the cruise. My goal is to not be any bigger. To accomplish that I've GOT to get smaller between now and April 30.

Going to play with my lists. This is beginning to REALLY get exciting.

Just saw a show on the Travel Channel about the most expensive RV parks. Can you imagine I think they said $1100 a week(maybe night) for an exclusive place to PARK the RV you spent multimillions on. Course the amentities are great but just think how many Disney cruises we could all do with that kind of money. WAY too rich for my blood. But it was interesting.

Good Morning All!

I guess I should have been checking these boards from day 1 bc now I am addicted. I even checked at work the other day while I was sitting in front of a customer. He was sitting on the other side of the desk, and he thought I was checking something for him on the internet.

The reason I at least have the girls packed is for three reasons. I have a busy 2 weeks at work trying to get everythig ready to be out for a week and a half. Katie's third birthday party is next Saturday and we are walking in the March of Dimes walk-a-thon on Sunday(Katie was 2 months premature so we have done it every year on her birthday weekend). Then.....leaving thursday night.

I am also a giant procrastinator when it comes to packing. We will "think" we have everything ready and put the details off until the last night and realize that we have much more to pack than we had originally thought. This time around we are going to try to leave at 9pm from Philadelphia and drive all night. We'll see how that works out. The main goals here are to try to avoid DC rush hour(all day long) and to have the kids sleep **most** of the way. That timing would put us in Cocoa at around 2pm on Friday afternoon. That's plenty of time to get all our details taken care of.

Ryan, Thanks for the Network description. I actually took what I thought was a basic networking class as part of my MBA program, but my daughter was born right in the middle of the class so my husband did all my papers. The final paper was to design a network beginning to end, including hardware specs etc....NOT what I would call basic. He loved it and dashed off 10 pages in no time complete with computer geek flowcharts. Turns out my professor died before he had time to grade Pat's masterpiece. On one hand I feel badly that he died, I also feel for Pat but he had fun doing it.

Anyway, the tooth fairy came for Hannah last night so of course she is up and about already. Better go assume my duties as domestic goddess this morning...princess:

Another bee-yooo-tiful day in Maryland. High temp yesterday in the low 90's. Not supposed to be that hot today (i think they are calling for a high of 75) ... but i'll take it!!

Teddy is heading off to school with his clothes on inside-out because it is 'wacky week' at his school and today is "inside-out" day. He spent half the morning trying to figure out if there is some way to turn his tennis-shoes inside out. :crazy:

Tanning .... hmmmm.... going pretty well if i could just find the time! Hoping to go today (they were closed yesterday because they couldn't get the air conditioning to work). :sunny:

Ryan .... I love the improvements you've made to your 'monkey' ... i just love a monkey in formal wear! :D

And goofball Joe is now hobbling around here after somehow injuring his ankle (ooh sorry, it is his foot, not his ankle). We are hitting single digits and he is now limping around!? And will that stop him from playing softball tonight? NEVER!! (hey, ace bandages fix anything, right? ~sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm~)

Now I *really* think i am done shopping and can focus more on the 'packing' (uggg .. and laundry to prepare for packing!)

Okay I'm still here!! Thanks Heidi for caring.
I have been really busy. I'm still taking my sommelier classes and have lots of homework, if drinking lots of wine is considered homework. It is to me. Noah had a birthday (now 6) this weekend and my Dad has been visiting for the last 5 days. He left this AM,..boo hoo,...I am a Daddy's girl. I feel like I need rehab from all the partying we did. But rehab is for quitters, and I'm no quitter!!
ANYWAY,....with all that has been going on, the cruise is really all I think about. We are leaving Thurs the 29th and are staying with some good friends in Cocoa Beach for 2 nights. I think I will have them drop us off at the DCL terminal around 10:30 AM. Unless you think I should go earlier??
I have tons of shopping, organizing and packing to do. But I work well under pressure.

I am swamped at work right now, trying to get my desk cleared off before I leave so the wonderful people I work with have plenty of places to stack the work while I am gone...... ugh!! Plus we have had 9 members of dh's extended family in from out of state, so that has been taking a lot of time as well. FYI, I'm divorced and have primary custody of Alyssa. I kinda figured this would be a perfect vacation for the two of us. Never done anything like this, though we have been to St. John many times. I'd highly recommend going there if you've never been. Obviously options are limited given time constraints, but the north shore beaches are the best I've ever seen.

As the DW has mentioned it has been great weather here the past few days. Ahh... so many little soccer players out there. DS (Teddy) had his first lacrosse game and loved it. I think the helmet and pads makes him feel like a power ranger. Not to mention the stick he gets to hit other players with.

Well we have the most weed infested front yard so while it's nice and cool I guess I'll go help Ryan weed it.

I find gasoline kills weeds fast... grass goes too, but hey no more lawn to mow which leaves more time to drink that avatar. :laughing:

Go Teddy! My husband was(way past tense) a college All American Lacrosse player-(attackman). He can't wait until our girls can play. They start the girls out around 8 yo here. Maryland is a huge LAX area, Philly is coming around. We are from central New York(Syracuse) which is a big lacrosse town too! Anyway, I am sure you aren't thinking about college for Teddy yet;) We live just about an hour from Princeton. Hannah has informed her grandfather(thank God) that he will be paying for her to go there to become a dr. She's 5 but hey, it doesn't hurt to have a dream!

Butter.......my favorite food group! We have made Hamburgers with Old Bay bread crumbs we love it so much. We also steam a lot of clams in beer and garlic. Then we cover them in hot sauce and lemons....I know we are screwy but it makes us feel like we are on vacation! It goes great with the margarita on the rocks food group!

We are Maryland wannabe's here in Philly. I will be in Timonium?? tomorrow for a meeting in the afternoon.
I am thinking it will be about an hour and 15 minutes from me. If its not.... I will be late:)

Anyway, gotta get to work and daydream about vacation some more...

Timonium is where Joe's company is based and where we lived when we first got married. You will be just about 40 minutes from where we live now! Yep, an hour and 15 minutes sounds about right from Philly.

Around here they have lax leagues starting at age 5 and up for boys and girls. Madalyn can't wait to start playing but was upset when she found out that girls don't wear helmets. We told her that the boys clobber each other but the girls aren't allowed to do that and she said "But i want to clobber people!" And she sounds a lot like your dd ... she has already informed me that she is going to be a Mommy/Doctor/Rock Star when she grows up.

Heidi I'm still here, I have been entertaining out of town guests (plying them with beer) and getting ready for Justin's party this weekend and MORE out-of towners for that event. We ordered a DCL cruise themed cake and I will post the pix. He wanted to have a b-day party for school friends before we go, and then DH's whole rowdy family decided they'd drive out too. Last year during the week before the cruise, we had Justin's party, Easter, and my gallbladder out. Aagh! I keep wondering if my appendix will give out around Monday next week!!:crazy2: The only thing keeping me going is knowing that the cruise and mulitple KONK COOLERS are within reach!! WOO HOO!!

It has been crazy around here...we had two soccer games this past weekend, many tanning appoitnments to attend (priorities, priorites), Tom played golf all day Saturday and again yesterday, we had a surprise 39th birthday party to go to for a good friend, last night was Brownies, tonight is soccer practice, tomorrow is Daisys, the fun is never ending around here!!!!!!! And to top it all off, Tom left for Vegas this morning (in search of Heidi's bra) and won't be back until Friday night! He'll be back just in time for another crazy weekend of soccer, Brownie & Daisy field trips, a birthday party and a first communion!!! (Oh yeah, and more tanning appointments for me). When will I ever get a chance to pack???

I am seriously beginning to wonder if we will even be able to pay our bar tab on the cruise...I can't seem to keep myself out of the mall!!! I'm spending money like crazy! We'll be so broke that we'll have to drink the free water on the boat...but at least we'll look good!!! Don't forget to look for Lindsey, Sarah & Abby...they'll be hard to miss because they'll be dressed alike! Yes, it's true...I'm one of those mothers!!!

Okay, I have a confession to make...I am a beer drinker! I'm afraid that I'll be hanging out by myself because the rest of you are so into all of the frou frou drinks! I'll definitely be trying some of them, but my drink of preference is beer! Labatt Blue Light to be exact...and I can't even get that on the ship! The konk koolers that we've been making at home are yummy, but you can only drink so many of them because they are a little on the sweet side. I know that I definitely won't be hanging with Heidi at all because I can't even say the G word...you know...gin. I had a bad experience many many years ago (great bar in the town where I went to college had four dollar pitchers of mixed drinks on Thursday nights) and to this day the smell of gin makes me gag! I'll wave to you from the other side of the pool Heidi!

We're leaving next Thursday after school and driving straight through...we made record time to Orlando in February (17 hours and 18 minutes to be exact) so Tom is pretty confident that we'll be in Cocoa Beach in roughly the same amount of time (give or take an hour)...we'll be meeting up with my parents and some good friends from here (they have a daughter Lindsey's age). We're all staying at the Ron Jon Resort on Friday night and will be at the terminal as early as they'll let us on Saturday morning.

Who cares if the house is clean as long as you are packed and ready..the depression of coming home will be enough to deal with..if the house is a mess then it means doing less laundry just add it to the rest of the mess!! Actually I'm a fine one to talk..my house has to be spotless before we leave...it's something I am SO anal about! I make sure I get everything clean and put away and the dishes washed and put away..then everyone eats on plastic, paper and styrofoam. The goofy pool meet I say we meet on Deck 9 by whatever fast food thing is right there (I can't remember what is there) or the bar or something easily accessible to spot! Since we will have our mini meet the night before we can easily see each other and those who join us and then it will be easier to grab the rest!!! I'm jealous..I wish I was leaving tomorrow!! Oh well only 1 more week!

Julie--I must say you are a MUCH better wife than me! NO WAY would Ryan play golf on a weekend twice without suffering serious consequences or cost! LOL Just reading everything you did last weekend and the coming weekend made me exhausted!! I'm sorry Tom is gone but I sure do hope he finds my bra! LOL I miss that puppy!!!!I've been hitting the tanning salon as well...I figure 2 more times should do it! I know the feeling about the bar tab..not because I'm spending it at the mall but because I think we will be wasted pretty much the whole time! LOL I think it's cute you dress your girls the same!!If I had 2 girls I would but I guess thankfully I dont. I love my 1 but I don't think I could handle more than 1..the boys are SO much easier! I had the same kind of experience with beer you did with Gin (well beer and tequila for me) but on deck I plan on drinking froo froo drinks most of the day and saving the gin for later at dinner, on the balcony, at the shows, on the way to the show, on the way back from the show, on the way to dinner, on the way back from dinner...you get the point. I'll drink mostly froo froo drinks when I'm around you ok?? LOL I promise I will try to not get you sick!! Ouch the drive time sounds painful! I thought 4 hours on a plane sounded bad but definitely that amount of time in a car would make me nutso! We may drive to Denver in August and I dread the 8-10 hours in the car each way and we have a built in DVD system with wireless headphones and I still dread the "are we there yet?" WE CANT WAIT EITHER!!! ONLY 1 more week basically!!! I can't wait to meet all of you guys!!!

Joe--Oh yeah when you buy beer on a cruise ship buy the bucket. They bring like 6 of them in a bucket of ice..seemed to help our tablemates on our last cruise without kids!!!!

Hey, I'm all for beer over frou frou drinks! Beer is good food! Not that I get the opportunity to drink much these days. But on the upside, guess that means my bar tab won't be hefty!

I bought my daughter several new dresses to take on the cruise this past weekend, but, of course, she wanted to wear them right away. And since it's been so nice in the DC area the past few days, she's been outside getting all kinds of nice grass stains and dirt on them :crazy2:

Tom had a celebrity citing (or is it sighting? or siting?) already...he has been in Vegas for less than an hour and already he's seen someone famous...she's not exactly a celebrity, but she's more famous than he is...he walked into the MGM to check in and there was Heidi from The Apprentice sitting in the lobby talking on her cell phone wearing one of her little ruffley mini skirts! She is going to be a "celebrity" in one of the booths at the trade show that he is attending...hopefully she won't be the most famous person that he sees though or he'll be disappointed...last year he got his picture taken with Carmen Electra at this same trade show...not the smartest cookie in the box, but easy on the eyes (but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't her brains that he was checking out anyway)! I told him to keep his eyes open for Jessica Simpson...she was at the MGM Sunday night filming the VH1 Divas Concert along with Patti LaBelle, Cyndi Lauper and Debbie Harry...don't you think that it would be more fun to see one of them than to see Heidi from The Apprentice???

I saw those 3 girls were on VH1 Divas the other night (why anyone would want to watch them is beyond me...I tivo'd it for the 30 second Tom Jones snippet! Julie, I understand completely about not being able to stay out of the mall. Don't tell Joe ;) but i can't seem to resist buying anything and everything i see that seems "just perfect for the cruise"! I wish i could dress my children alike and i do try to put them in complimentary colors for special occassions but that is the best i can do (it would be a heck of a lot easier if they were the same gender, LOL). One of the moms in Madalyn's pre-school class has 2 boys that are about 18 months apart in age and she dresses them identically all the time and then gets upset if people ask her if they are twins .... i mean, come on now they are close in height and look very similar and are dressed exactly the same ... you have to be prepared for that.

BooHoo, didn't get a chance to go tanning today .. but do have my 'schedule' worked out for the rest of the week (just hoping nothing screws it up!)

And those of you packing for the kids ..... are you packing a sweater or jacket for them? (trying to decide if i should bring one or not ... i could definitely use that room in the suitcase for something else, heheheh)

Jeff, i just showed my daughter the pic of Alyssa and she said "Oh look, she has a bitty baby doll just like i do!" So glad there are so many kids so close in age to each other on our thread.

I did the matching outfits for my 3 kids for easter one year...McKaylee wore a yellow dress and the 2 boys had yellow vests and blue and yellow shirts and blue shorts but I only did it once and it was too hard so now I just say screw it!:tongue: Packing for the kids...I'm packing a sweatshirt for each of them and a sweater for McKaylee as well since the dining rooms can get chilly at night *especially if you have a little sun on you during the day* When we went last time it was so cold in Florida that we boarded the ship in jeans and sweatshirts and that is our embarkation photo.

JennL and Jeff- we have the same bitty baby as well. Thankfully it doesn't have to come on our trip with us. Katie wants to bring an orange duck puppet named Gertie but if we leave in the middle of the night, I may just forget it.

Julie-My girls will also be dressed alike on embarkation day. Pink Lilly dresses are already laid out. They have several dresses that are the same for the cruise, formal night, tropical night.....They acutally have wardrobes to envy-mom on the other hand not so much.

We too are driving but Julie, that sound like a hell of a drive from Michigan in only 17 hours? We are leaving after dinner on Thursday night and from Philadelphia it is about 16 hours. I had a minor car crisis this week and thankfully it is solved but on Friday(I work for GM and we are all driving Oldsmobiles for company cars bc the division is phasing out) I got a call from our company vehicle coordinator telling me my new vehicle is ready to pick up.......a 2 door Oldsmobile Alero. I really like the Alero, but with 2 car seats and a 16 hour trip ahead of us, it wasn't going to work. I of course had a panic attack on Friday, Saturday and Sunday oh and today too until he called me to tell me he found me a van. Whew! Thank God for the built in DVD-electronic babysitter.

Gotta Go- a Go-Gurt related emergency needs to be attended to!

Heidi, finally someone who understands the horror of watching Jessica Simpson perform! Jeez, the girl needs to cut back on the caffeine or something! Hysterectomy, oy! Luckily the gallbladder is no big deal but I still didn't understand how I was going to have the procedure Monday, fly Friday all day, then get in salt water with sutures on Sunday! But I did-- my will to cruise was far too strong! So glad I could enjoy the food on the cruise, the first time in almost 10 years that my stomach wasn't killing me! I will definately post the cake pix Sat-- I am so anxious to see it, this bakery does fantastic work! Take care of that cold!

Julie, I am also a beer lover, and actually I think there is now a beer tasting on board. I like the frou frou stuff on vacation because it feels tropical but DH and I are definately beer drinkers! You're not alone! (affecting Homer Simpson: MMMmm, beer!).

Jason, hang in there with finals, etc. I still have computer-related wrist injuries sustained while working on my thesis! Have an awesome time at Disney this weekend!

Jeff--- A little girl after my own heart! Til I started packing on the mommy pounds I could outshop almost anyone but now...I just outpuke everyone when I see myself! LOL My dd is the oldest dd in Ryan's family(and there is only 2 total), the first grandchild and spoiled rotten! I was the only girl in my family and the baby to boot...talk about SPOILED ROTTEN!! LOL I still am and poor Ryan has had to continue the trend! LOL Thankfully we went through some extremely POOR years where just going to the grocery store about broke our bank account so I DID scale back for the most part!

Amber--I was hoping I explained that whole Jessica Simpson thing right! If I close my eyes I can listen but I can't watch her...she just bugs me to watch her!!! Yeah the hysterectomy was not the most pleasant thing but I am SURE happy about it now! LOL I think the honest worst part was I didn't realize I was allergic to the morphine drip and I was wigging out seeing spiders on the walls and people who weren't there. It took 3 shots of Benadryl along with something else to get the hives out of every crevice in my body...but now I am SO glad I had it done! The amount of room I save in my suitcase from not packing "supplies" is enough for at least 3 cases of gin! LOL I bet it was nice to be able to eat that food but I can't figure out how you were able to do the flight and then swimming either..YOU GO GIRL!!!!! You are definitely committed when you want to do something aren't you?? LOL I can't wait to see the pic of the cake either for 2 reasons #1 it sounds just awesome and #2 IT WILL BE ALMOST TIME TO CRUISE WHEN SATURDAY GETS HERE! LOL

Boy the excitement keeps building - sounds like everyone's plans are coming together. I plan to start packing this weekend. Our weather here has been so nice, my DD"s want to wear the things I need to pack.

Jeff and Alyssa - welcome to our group, glad you found us. I have 5yo DD Brenna saw Alyssa's pictures and asked me to tell her hello and yo ask who is her favorite princess?

My middle DD is kinda bummed because there aren't any 12 you girls in our group. She was hoping to make a friend before we arrive. I told her she can't possibly be the only 12 yo on the entire cruise.

We have dance dress rehersals all week for the recital Friday and Saturday night, a cheerleading competition at Great Adventure (Six Flags) all day Saturday, my yard sale Saturday, and soccer training from 8am to 5pm for Kaitlyn on Sunday. Forget dance pictures Sunday afternoon as well.

Sorry to hear your middle DD is bummed about the 12 year old. My Miles is bummed about no 9 year olds either. My dd will be 11 in 4 months...maybe they will hit it off a little bit...she LOVES older girls. Our pain in the butt neighbor girl is 13 and they get along great! My dd is 10 going on 18 that is for sure! If there aren't any other kids to hang out with and your dd is interested I'm sure mine would be game although I realize the age difference is kind of big! What grade is your dd in?? Mine missed the cut off so she is in 4th but only missed it by 25 days or she could have been in 5th. Your weekend sounds busy but at least it will go by quickly and then it will be CRUISE WEEK!

Heidi -- Well, I have 2 brothers (no sisters), so my mom is going nuts having a girl to shop for, etc. My extremely poor years all happened while I was married. Funny, as soon as I got divorced, I started seeing more than $0.00 on my bank statements ;) Been planning this Disney cruise ever since! If Alyssa likes it (a sure thing if ever there was one), we'll probably do the Western itinerary the next time.

I like an icy cold brew myself. As Moe (of Moes Bar on the Simpson) once said "We need beer. Beer will help us plan!" The problem in Uth is that unless you get the "good stuff" at the liquor store it's 3.2 beer which is only designed to make you discover the reason for fear of public restrooms.

And what is this addiction that has happened to me? Heidi has been telling me stories and keeping me up to date for like 200 days about you guys. Besides that I think the NEXT trip is ADULTS only..NO KIDS ALLOWED! Cancun is calling my name around Xmas time this year!!!

Jen--I'm sure by next week I will feel MUCH better....nothing that a little gin and froo froo drink can't cure or some Zicam up my nose! LOL As for what Zicam is..it is a zinc nasal spray that really does lessen the duration of the common cold. When started at the very first sign of a cold it really helps! It is OTC and is just basically Zinc but I swear by it as does my family. The first sign of a sore throat or runny nose the zicam goes in and in a few days it's gone! Heidi - I love the Zicam - it seems to work wonders. Just finished my springtime cold (get one every year) - hope you are feeling better soon. I'm sure Kaitlyn would love to meet your daughter. Kaitlyn just turned 12 last month and is in 6th grade. She has alot of friends who are younger, so I'm sure the age difference won't be a problem. We'll have to get them together at the DIS meet.

Jason - good luck with your presentation - just think when your finished you'll be one step closer to the cruise. You guys sound like my DH - I asked him when he was going to pack - his response what time are we leaving, I'll do it then :crazy:

Philly Jen - no soccer fields on the ship, but my girls love to play on the beach. I for one am glad to be away from soccer and fields for a good 10 days. Although Kaitlyn might have to miss a big game if they can't get it rescheduled and played before we leave.

Another day is over - got to get to the bank to get my travelers checks soon, last thing I have to do besides pack before we leave. Its hard to beleive that we leave in a little over the week. I can't beleive it is so soon.

Maybe if they could even talk a few times before we go it might help!! The Zicam I think is actually finally starting to work. I feel better than I have most of the day (or maybe that's the gin?) LOL I'm glad we aren't the only family who likes it!! Your kids might be able to play soccer up on the sports deck where the basketball standard is...it's plenty big!!!

Well I finally got to the end of the postings, Surprisingly before anyone else posted.

We watched Jessica Simpson grow up in our church. She's a couple of years younger than my DD. FYI, the expressions aren't something she's just come up with. I always closed my eyes too. Since I really prefer a more "restful" style instead of "belting", I don't think I ever appreciated her music. But I have to give her and her dad credit for marketing her REALLY well.

I'm not EVEN going to try to reply to everyone who posted since yesterday. Glad several of you checked in.

Glad all of you are getting packed. We have the luggage out and some of the stuff laid out on the bed. I'll either keep it low key or put it all in the suitcase and put that in the closet since I don't want the cleaning lady who comes on Monday to know we'll be out of town. But after she's done, I can spread stuff all over the house. There are some definite perks to having an empty nest.

Right now I'm just hanging stuff together in the closet.

Some of you guys have so much going on that you really NEED a vacation to relax. Just don't obsess and try to do everything on the cruise.

I've got my packing list of essential stuff created and am adding to it a little at a time.

Called DH this morning and told him I wanted to be on Vacation NOW. I had started a project last week that got interrupted by the patching deal and when I went back to the original project today, I had lost my train of thought and couldn't remember what direction I had planned to organize the info. I'm getting VERY OLD or really ready for a VACATION...on a SHIP:boat:

Since we're getting to Orlando at 12:31 AM, I hope I get enough sleep so I won't be totally exhausted on Saturday. But I probably will since I'll be WAY to excited to sleep on Thursday night. Sometimes it might be useful if I liked wine. Oh well, I guess a couple of Benadryl might do the trick.

Good Morning all! I will give my official Heidi post warning-this one is long and relatively unrelated to the cruise.

Just 8 days until the Philly clan leaves for vacation. In the meantime, I have to throw a party for Kate which in an of itself is not too big of a deal, but my house is a wreck from all this packing. I finally did some shopping yesterday and got myself a few things so I can finally pack myself. Hubby has just recently lost a few pouds(jerk..) so he was really excited to try on his stuff so he is almost packed. Poor guy is still wearing stuff from college so my girls can wear Talbots formal dresses....at least that is the line he gives me when the Talbots bill comes in....

Sadly, my main crisis right now is what suitcase are we going to dedicate to bringing on our liquer. Pat works in Delaware where the liquer is really cheap so I am going to have him pick up a few bottles of wine/champagne and Three Olives Vanilla Vodka(can't stand cheap vodka-the kind we used to pour into a garbage can lined with a garbage bag and pour in some disgusting fruit juice and call it a drink) Oh yeah, we also would float some fruit on top for that sophisticated look! I think we called it wapatoola??

Thankfully my tastes have become somewhat more refined in the last 10 years. Anyway, his famous Key Lime Martini only takes 2 ingredients so it will be easy to bring the shaker(yes Travis, shaken not stirred) and those 2 things for our verandah nights.

DTHogue-Hannah is a new soccer player, this is only her second season so we still wait all week for her games. I can see how more than 1 game a week could start to wear you down a bit.. Last year, she was the social butterfly during the game, on the field-waving to all her friends at different fields, yelling over to me asking when it would be snack time, laying in the grass at the other end of the field picking daisys...you know, the real dedicated soccer player... I think the coach wanted to give her a trophy just because at the last game, she actually kicked the ball. The funny part is, her game would not change 1 bit if the ball magically disappeared from the field. We chuckle but hey, she is getting good exercise.

Jason-good luck on your presentation. Just think, after that it will all be over....until you decide to get your PhD.... I acutally couldn't wait unil school was over bc I wanted to become like an adjunct professor at a college/university-Marketing type warm fuzzy classes. I thought for part-time, all you needed was an MBA and experience. Anyway, I asked an old professor from college and he of course was encouraging me to get my PhD if I was really serious about it.

Yuck! I will probably do it for several reasons. I HATE my job but I work like 3 hours a day(yes, it is a full time job, I just have it condensed to about 3 hours) and get any GM product I want to drive.(My last company car was a Hummer H2). Nice gig if you can get it, problem is--- if I want to advance in the company any farther all roads lead to Michigan or Purchase, NY(thus an 8+ hour work day). Belle and Rella's mom and dad, Michigan is a wonderful state but my family is here in Philadelphia and that is what is important to me at this point with the kids little and all.

Pat leaves for work at 6am( 1 hour drive to DE) so I apologize for being so chatty, it acutally makes me feel as though I have had a real conversation with a grown up this morning.

Heidi- we have a pain in the butt neighbor kid as well, except she is 5. Don't let me get started on them on the cruise or I may never shut up about it......Anyway, I see her mom yesterday and she said that she came home from school with a rash- I think it is fiths disease or Impetago........I think it is from the sun..... WELL WHAT THE %^&* is it from because I am going on a $%!@#$^ cruise next week and don't want my kid to have the rash..... This mom and dad work so much that their kid could be missing an arm and they would still send them to school until the nurse called them to pick her up. Sadly, the little girl has caught on to this and uses the Nurses office as an excuse to have mommy or daddy come get her..... Already!!! Our kids, much to my disdain, play everyday at school. We live on the corner so everyone passes our house on the way home from school or work and stop by....yep-swingset party central. Unfortunately even the kids we don't like come over...

Philly Jen - Sadly I miss those days of soccer. My favorite memory is of my oldest daughter when she was 5 - her and her best friend (still BF today) were playing - the friend was the goalie and Kristen was in defense. The ball was at the other end of the field for most of the game - the girls were standing in the goal picking dandelions, not even paying attention to the game. It was adorable (the coach didn't think so, but us moms did):bounce: Those days are priceless - enjoy them while you can :)

CM-Mom - glad you were able to get caught up. Good luck with the packing.

Morning!

Alyssa played soccer last fall... well, I say played, but that's only in the loosest sense of the term. She loved to play during practice. But during the games she suddenly realized there were a lot of adults around that she had never seen. The odds of the coach getting her on the field at that point were slim to none! The whole season she went on the field twice and never went near the ball. Ah well, she enjoyed the practices :cool:

Sounds like there should be a good showing among 5 year olds. Alyssa will be thrilled about the princess party!

Jason - Good luck with your speech/presentation! I'm not very good at speaking in public. I recall having to do it a few times in college and i was SHAKING the entire time!! Not for me..

Tammy - Last year Logan played soccer on the tots team and there were QUITE a few kids who would sit on the field picking dandelions!!! It was hilarious... Our coach didn't think it was funny either!! Logan is on the bigger kids team now (he's one of the youngest) and I'll still see him playing defense making funny faces to the player next to him, not paying attention!!! memories.... lol...

Well, actually figured out I need to buy Logan a new pair of tenners (the ones I bought with the intention of taking on the trip have since been ruined), so we'll finish up that little bit of shopping this weekend I'm sure...

Bra Update,

I checked in yesterday to the MGM at approximately 11 a.m.
No sign of the Bra, time to investigate.
Set up meetings with security, crowd control, and Tom Jones fan club president. Tom Jones opens at the MGM on Thursday I might have to talk to him.

Mission: To retrieve BRA, take back to Michigan, then drive as fast as I can to Port Canaveral, Present it to MonkeyBoy as gift for all the drinks he will be getting us. (HEY MONKEYBOY I NEED A DRINK DAMNIT)

Last year I was out here and yes I had my picture taken with Carmen, but they should always tell drunk men to suck in your stomach when getting your picture taken. Her large fake B**BS ended up sitting across my beer shelf, my friends point that out all the time. Last year Vegas Show girls and Carmen Electra this year Al Roker and Heidi from the Apprentice, I think the queen is happy.

Speaking of the Queen, get your *** out of the mall your killing me.

BTW the Queen and I have booked a long weekend in Vegas over labor day, it could be like the survivor reunion show might have to plan a get together.

Well another 1/2 of the week is gone! We start the downward slide after today!! Ryan only has 5 more days of work including today to get through and the kids have 4 long days and 2 short days to get through and I just have all 7 / 6 days to get through. Thinking that the Zicam might be helping though. I still dont feel great but at least I don't think my head is going to explode anytime soon!

Jen--congrats on getting a few things for you so you can continue to pack! LOL about hubby wearing older clothes so your girls can wear Talbots. Thankfully the only "designer" type clothing they know about (other than Old Navy and the Gap do they count?) is Tommy Hilfiger and Polo outlet stores. I keep my fingers crossed that this will be ALL they will continue to know:crazy:
Just make sure you pack your liquor in ziploc bags so if they break everything around it wont be soaked in wine/champage whatever! I think we are going to bring a few older towels with us and a vacuum zip bag to put our purchases in before we get on ship. We have a comp stop and since they tax liquor here to the point where you have to really want a drink we figured we'd stock up on land by the ship! LOL You have to LOVE the neighbor kids dont you??? This little girl (not really little) has absolutely NO manners what so ever which is why I think she likes to play over here with kids younger than her so she feels like the boss. she is annoying and overbearing at times. She is also not the best looking kid in the world (We have been known to refer to her in the privacy of our room as the Gimp from Pulp Fiction) but it is so hard. Our street isn't that great of a street for a few reasons....but we live here because our school and district are the least populated with kids mostly because around here there aren't many kids.

Tammy--I'll have McKaylee start emailing her after school today. She gets home at about 4 local mtn time and I'll have her write at least a hi to her and a few other things. This will give them a week to write back and forth. I'm starting to feel better..I think 1 more day of resting will probably do it for me and I'll be at least feeling good enough to deal with packing and stopping the newspaper and the mail and and and.....

Tracey--I think taking the Zicam is really helping keep the worst part at bay. I still have a little runny nose/stuffy nose but the sore throat is gone and I think after we rest today I'll be back on the mends!!!! Hope you feel better soon as well!!! I too am addicted to the PLastic Surgery shows! Love them all! I am a HUGE fan of reality tv though! Survivor, the swan, extreme makeover and makeover house, The Eden Show...all of those I Love!!!

I am trying to clean the kitchen and when i picked up the kitchen towel to dry off my hands i ended up covered in white glue and green glitter!!! Apparently when Picasso and his sister were doing arts and crafts they had a slight glue/glitter spill and sopped it up with my kitchen towel and then hung the towel back in its place ... so now there is glue and glitter everywhere!! Does anyone want 2 artistic children?

LOL JenL--As I am typing this my little picasso is coloring on everything and using glitter glue to make his Santa coloring book from Christmas look more sparkly! Of course it's on newspaper with a plastic bag under the bar stool but he loves to color, draw, cut, paste...drives me nutty! At least your kids try to clean it up...my kids especially Miles would just give a halfassed job at cleaning it up and then wait for me to find it all dry and going crazy!!!

Julie--I have a special file for artwork too! LOL It gets the fridge honor for 24 hours and then the special file comes out and grabs it! Now if it is WET paint, glittered up (except for glitter glue) or has anything that still needs to "cure" it's in the round file but other than that they get 24 hours to show off and then bye bye! LOL

Jeff--We HAD some of that glitter sunscreen as well..it is now outside on the trees, decking, sidewalk and used in place of chalk for different things! LOL

One day my house will be spotless...and my yards will look nice...for now I just turn my head and sigh!

JenL - I would have to agree with Julie you are a way better mom than me, we also have the NO GLITTER rule - nothing in the art form and nothing on the clothes. There is nothing worse (except maybe red underware) than washing a t-shirt with glitter and then having it spread to everything else in the washer. Brenna at daisys last xmas brought home a pine cone xmas tree covered in glitter - that tree found its way to the very special glitter file as well.

Jeff - I saw the glitter sunscreen - love to know how it works. I know Brenna would love to use that. She likes the colored sunscreen and ends up with all over the place.

Jason - glad to hear you made it through your presentation. Now get packing so you can meet us Friday night.

My microwave just beeped - supper's done - time to put it in little plastic dishes for my hour long ride to soccer practice. I just love eating in the car. How many more days til we go - can't wait to actually eat dinner at a table 7 nights in a row - I won't know what to do!

It was thrown with the right hand, from the second row (seat 12 I believe) Tom was standing at approximately a 15 degree angle from our seated position. There were no other obstructions, as the old people next to us were not nearly second row fans. Speed of travel is estimated at 25 mph (never seen a bra move that fast). The object then traveled upward at about 10 degrees and fell off in smooth arc, slid 6.5 feet across the floor and came gently to rest at the feet of Mr. Jones.

The item remained in its landing position for the remainder of the show, it was glanced at several times by the performer, after one of which he made a definitive wink at said screaming fan. When the curtain came down on the bra, 1/3 of the bra lay on the outside of the velvet for approximately 30 seconds. At which time it was pulled beneath the curtain and foot steps could be seen taking the object to stage left (my right).

I have my money on the backup singer, with the candle stick in the green room.

Well in my DREAMS I was sitting ON MR. JONES LAP CARESSING THE LOWER QUADRANT OF HIS BODY...but in reality I was on the 2nd row about 6 seats from being dead center...looking out from the stage where he was singing would have been his right about 6 seats from dead center on the 2nd row. At the time of the hurling there was a girl seated ON the front row about 4 seats to my right *think almost dead center* who had on a skirt and she hoisted her legs up on the stage with her big bulky boots to give him a little show of her own. Shortly before I lost my bra a very young stripper bodied blonde threw her thong panties up on stage, went back to her seat a few rows behind me and then decided to give Mr. Jones a show of her RACK! *Put my small little bra to shame but at least mine didn't cost a fortune right?*

What a day!!! Tom is living it up in Vegas, having the time of his life on the "Locate Heidi's Bra Quest" and I am stuck here chauffering the girls all over town...oh yeah, and spending even more time in the mall! Two year old Abby threw a temper tantrum in the middle of Blimpies tonight...we stopped in for a quick dinner on our way to Sarah's Daisy Troop meeting. Just found out that Lindsey didn't get placed on the softball team with all of her friends (she ended up on another team)...haven't broken the news to her yet. I decided that I needed a beer (or two or three) to help de-stress me while I watched The Bachelor! Don't worry...I won't ruin it for all of you Central, Mountain and Pacific time zone people and tell you who Jesse sent home!!! Drinking alone just isn't as much fun as drinking with friends! I think I have decided to rip out every stitch of carpet I have in my house and just put down Pergo!:rolleyes: Our basement has flooded both the laundry room and McKaylee's room and dealing with carpet and pad is just way more than I want to deal with plus I HATE HATE HATE how stained carpet gets! We have Pergo in our entry and living room and I LOVE IT! Doesn't scratch, easy to clean...only colder than carpet but that's what rugs are for right?? Julie--I so understand what you mean about Tom being gone and you being everything while he is gone. Ryan in the past traveled for work and it drove me insane! I don't do well at night alone (I know I'm so hot someone out there want's to "do me") ROFLMAO! I hate being the SMMT or Single Married Mom of Three. Ryan hasn't traveled for awhile but if he gets this job he interviewed for he will go for 1 week once a month UGH! Sorry to hear that Lindsey is on a different team. That is SO hard! That is one of the reasons our kids don't play sports! Last time Miles played he was I think 7 or 8 and he played with a bunch of 4 year olds so I said NO MORE!!! Sorry to hear of the tantrum...I hate that time so bad! Thankfully our kids are old enough to completely understand the "look of death" that is emitted from my eyes in situations like that but the melt down is definitely draining especially when you are alone!!! I get all worked up and call LONG DISTANCE *yeah I'm cheap..it cuts into my booze budget* and talk to this woman who tells me to call my state recovery services. I call and tell them that I am not Heidi A *** but Heidi E *** and that they have the wrong person. I've never been married to the John (sounds like a pimp doesnt it?) they are telling me I've been married and owe child support too and she agrees with me and says she will change it in the system.

SOOOO..tonight Ryan and I are sitting on the couch watching a Tivo'd Law and Order when at 9:55 the damn doorbell rings. I look at Ryan and he looks at me and he goes to the door. He opens the door and some guy says he's with the constable's office here and wants to see me. Of course I'm over here thinking W T F??? So I go to the door and he wants to serve me a notice to appear in court. I'm like HUH??? He says Arent you Heidi A ***??? I say UH NO...I'm Heidi E *** and he is like oh. Alice, sorry about the carpet situation. We had a plumbing leak in our master bedroom closet and had bare concrete in there for a couple of weeks but did end up with all new carpet in the master bedroom . The carpet guy thought I was nuts because I went to his showroom and took off my shoes and socks and walked on the samples till I found one that felt heavenly barefoot. I'm a barefoot person when I can be so it was REALLY important that the carpet feel great when my feet hit the floor in the morning. I'm also NOT a morning person so I need all the encouragement I can get.

Made DH take me shopping tonight looking for sandals and something formal night. Found a sparkly top to wear with my black jersey pants so the Mother of the Groom dress gets to stay at home. Only problem is the top has a glitter type stuff on it so I had to put it in a plastic bag to keep it from wearing off all in my suitcase. So I'm wearing evening pants for formal night and semiformal night and Palos if we get ressies. May not be as elegant as a gown but WAY more comfortable. I tried on a couple of "little black dresses" and decided that they belong on size 6s not 16s.:charac2:

Those of you going carpool nuts and having messy houses because of glitter in the dishtowel and mud on the feet. ENJOY, it only lasts another 10 or 15 years and suddenly your house is REALLY quiet. Unfortunately, mine didn't stay clean even without kids.

DD called from St. Thomas today right about my lunchtime while she was doing some wandering around Charlotte Amalie and shopping. Since I was at lunch and she didn't have any reason not to, we talked for about 45 minutes. It was so fun. Got some plans made for what we're going to do in St. Maarten and St. Thomas and talked about how we're going to meet up, etc. It was really nice to just chat.:chat:

Tonight is Brenna's final dress rehearsal for her recital. She is so excited I think she has completely forgot about the cruise :)

Sorry to hear about your basement-I know it is only a matter of time before we get water. We have a crack in the foundation and it is thankfully located in the "back" room where all of our storage is and our hot water heater, furnace and stuff. The rest of the basement was recently finished and would hate to have to deal with rotting carpet!(I am sure it is coming though). My friend just did ceramic tile in her basement, cold but whose basement isn't cold....

Julie, JennL and Heidi-I am such a bad mom...I don't allow glitter or glue unless it is a tightly supervised situation and with a 2 year old....tightly supervised means sitting at the table with them. Sadly, Katie brought home a beautiful piece of paper with what I can only describe as a little bit of glue and a whole lot of glitter. I took it out of her bag and the damn glitter got all over my laundry room. My crazy boss is in town so I have no free time to actually clean it up and now my laundry room looks like Mardi Gras!

My neighbor, mom of the psycho children, allows the girls to paint in their bedrooms(2 and 5 years old btw), markers in bedrooms.......playdough and clay everywhere. No wonder their house is a @#$% hole with marker and dried playdough on EVERYTHING... I have had the marker on everything before but it was because Damien(I mean Katie) escaped the kitchen with a marker and decided that the living room wall would look better with a little "color". She was only 1 at the time and really the only one to blame is myself. Unfortunately, my older one can now be responsible for the art stuff and she has to suffer bc Katie is still at that age.... Someday...


I heard a song on the radio yesterday on the way to work and it is a line I will use often on the cruise to justify why I am drinking a girly drink at 9 in the morning...."It's 5 0'clock somewhere....."

Just for the record, the glitter sunscreen appears to work great if you use half the bottle in one application. Trust me on this one, Alyssa has field tested it! :cool2: How it works with a normal amount remains to be seen.

On a side note, I don't suppose they'll have any de-tangler spray in the shop on the ship? I suppose one more thing I'll have to pack (otherwise the entire ship would hear Alyssa every time I brushed her hair... OW! DAAADDY! STOP IT!)

Is it just me or does it seem like work gets far busier than it ever was about 2 weeks before vacation? Ah well, not much longer

I have run into a couple of bumps in my search for the object in question. This is not as easy as I originally had thought it would be, but the knowledge about the BRA is invauluable and will come in handy for the rest of my life. Don't worry Heidi the quest continues, I am not sure if you have your best man on it, but you got me babe.

I saw Al Roker last night at a party I was at (wow is he short), and I told him he is the third funniest man I know. I think he was a little taken back and asked "Who are the first two funniest?" Well I had to let him down easy so I said "Well, I would say there is a tie at the top between Bad Leg Bow Tie Joe and Monkeyboy (MONKEYBOY GET ME A DRINK DAMNIT!)." He just looked at me like what the He** are you talking about, but I knew he knew of these legendary two.

Queen, life is too short to fret over a softball team (but a great excuse to have a beer) our darling Linds is just going to have to kick her friends butts in softball. I will be home on Friday, get a sitter and let me take you out for some semi adult time (cause I will be going also). BTW I have asked the queen to do this earlier but I figure if it is in writing you all can help me convince her to go out with me (sort of like middle school isn't it).

OMG Heidi!! What a fiasco! Hey, lay-low for the next few days so if they try to re-serve you they won't be able to find you ;) Don't want you missing the cruise!

Well, i am certainly not super-mom ... and i am pretty good with the glitter thing (except when it is dripping from the kitchen towel with globs of glue). The one thing i am kind of a freak about is play-doh. We have a plethora of colors and all of the little plastics molds and such (all gifts from well-meaning aunts who do not yet have children ... don't worry, one day they will and you know what they say about pay-backs). When the kids ask to play with play-doh i just cringe and try to distract them with something else "How about easy-bake oven? Glitter? How about i take you out for ice cream? Please, anything but play-doh!":crazy2:

And i think i am finally done shopping!!! :happy2: Except for the bag of clothes i now need to return. And then of course while i am in the store returning things i will see armloads of other things i simply forgot i needed!!!

And did anyone watch American Idol last night? I was going crazy when Ryan revealed which group was A and which was B .. Joe and i were both shocked (and you could tell that all of the contestants were shocked too). I am not necessarily shocked that Jennifer got sent home, but i am shocked that Latoya and Fantasia were with her in the bottom 3.

Jeff, they have a small area in one of the gift shops with various toiletries, but i am thinking it is a long-shot that they will have de-tangling spray there. And any of you who need that stuff ... i am jealous!!! Madalyn has the thinnest, finest hair around! And even then she whines and complains when i brush it.

And isn't my "to do" list supposed to be shortening as the cruise approaches ... why is mine growing???

Since some of my officers do the training my dept will still pay me for the day I go & help out at the educational event!(Good County America!) We drink & eat for 6 hours & then the officers use the field sobrity tests they have just learned on us! We've done it for several years now & have a ball doing it. SO now we know how to do those test because we have practiced!!!! :teacher: :rotfl:

Only 1 more day of rain forcasted for the next several so maybe we can get the ground dried out again and it wont happen.
I go through my times where I am anal retentive mom and no one can do anything and then other times I just say go for it...I don't want to deal with the whining accompanied by wanting to do art and not able to. I guess part of it is because we are due to get a new kitchen floor soon..so for that I don't care and also because I too have a satanic child in Tanner. We bought brand new leather sofas 2 years ago and had the Pergo put down and had put up white beadboard and painted with crown moulding...it looked SO nice in there. The day the couches are delivered is the day before Ryan leaves to go out of town. We bought the couches with the extended protection warranty *only a handful of times do we buy something like this* and they say the girl will be out on Saturday to treat it for the warranty. Ryan leaves the next day to go to Philly and I was busy trying to get the kids in the tub one night and I go around the corner from the front bathroom and there is my little tanner with a blue sharpie marker running around in circles in my brand new living room with sharpie on the couches (1 day old) the beadboard, the walls, the big screen tv, the fresh paint, the fireplace tiles....I damn near sh*t a brick!

Just a quick note as there is soooo much to read all the time. I'm off tday again cDS has strep. They're calling it chronic strep at this point. I guess on the bright side I get a refrigerator at the Poly to keep the anti biotics cold and this will also keep the DH's beer nice and chill. See... God works in strange ways:)

I still cannot get DH to log on and write anything. He said he'll meet you all on the ship. I think he is afraid he just might start drinking GIN!!

He did start paching though so I know he's getting psyched:bounce:

I packed only the Tylenol, Thermometer, Aleve, Visine, etc. -the medically necessary stuff that moms pack:teeth:

Kathy--SO Sorry to hear about the chronic strep! I think when my kids get sick Strep is the worst on them. I guess the ONLY good thing is they can take anti-biotics for it. When McKaylee had strep a few months ago they offered a chance for her to make $100.00 doing lab work to test the strep she had and they would still have given her antibiotic just like normal she would just have had to have her throat swabbed twice and blood work done twice and she freaked out. I said...if I get strep can I do it and earn $100 bucks?? They laughed and said no..I was so mad she wouldn't do it..I mean a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks! CRAP!! OH well...more booze for me and less souveniers for her!:teeth: Tell Dh I say hi and that I won't hold it against him for not posting he just has to buy the first round at the meet!:sunny: :teeth: :tongue: ::yes::

OK..went tanning again..not burned again which is so nice. My face which NEVER tans is getting a nice bronze hue to it....and if my cold would go away for good I would be back to full speed. It is slowly going but man this one is a snotty one! LOL

Lisa--LOL I love the obstacle course idea as well..we can use my Bra if Tom ever finds it, Joe and his bowtie, a badger for Jason's annoying song, beer bottles, gin, konk kooler cups and various other obstacles along the way from this board, we could borrow Jeff's dd's glitter sunscreen to paint our bodies with and use one of Tammy's soccer balls, maybe Tammy could put on a cheerleader outfit to cheer us on since she knows so much about it, Allison can put up some wine bottles, Connie can put on some liederhosen (spelling) and boy we could have a blast! LOL and I agree loser has to watch winner drink AND has to buy! LOL

When we were at CC Ryan and his dad (I have this great picture of Ryan's dad wearing my pink mask and snorkel LOL) are at the snorkel beach thinking they'd just go out but the lifeguard guy at the entrance made them wear blow up type (no not dolls you perverts) life vests in order to go snorkel so I assume that not matter where you go in the water they make you wear one!

Next week at this time I'll be dealing with what drink to have for dinner that will sit well with my 1000's of times on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin instead of how much longer is the sick wet carpet smell going to stay in my house! WOOOHOOOOOOOO

Hi all. I think I'm getting in the spirit but I just added another project. DD said she didn't have any formal clothes on the ship so I bought material to make her a "twin set" to wear with her black pants. It's black and gold and shiny. If she doesn't like it, I'll have another dressy top. Shouldn't take too long but I'll have to spend less time on the boards and more at the sewing machine.

Actually got an email from DD. We had talked about coordinating what stuff I was bringing and what (cokes, laundry soap and bottled water) she either has or can get and leave with her roommate to pick up when we get there. Some folks need coffee in the morning, I need coke (Coca Cola for all you people with devious minds) and I'm WAY too cheap to pay for one from room service every day.

Weather her is gorgeous but looks like we'll get Heidi's rain tomorrow.

DH informed me that he had looked at the Navigators I had printed out and he noticed that they have bingo. He thinks that would be fun so guess we'll fit it in.

Are any of you going to the beach while in St. Maarten? I can't remember and don't have time to reread the whole thread. 64 pages, I don't think so! If you are, have you been before and which beach do you think is the best?

Travis and I did Orient Bay last May. The beach is absolutely beautiful and not at all hard to locate. (We rented a car for the day. Guess it would be even easier to locate if you take a cab! :) )

I'm not really sure how it compares to the others as that's the only one we've visited on the island.

Jeff - Alyssa is adorable, I agree with the others, bring your detangler from home. My Brenna is also a yeller when it comes to hair -all I have to do is look at it and she yells "ouch!!!" She wants to have it braided on the ship, but there's no way she'll sit through that.

Reine -- Alyssa knows where money comes from... Daddy! If only I could keep her interested in things that cost a quarter. I have a feeling her tastes will become *slightly* more expensive as she gets older ;) I think Alyssa and I were planning on going to the beach on St. Maarten. Been to the beaches a lot on St. Thomas/St. John, so I figured we'd skip that.

Tammy -- Don't think Alyssa would sit through braiding either.

She's very excited that there will be other girls around her age on the cruise. Though I expect she'll be rather shy at first. She takes some time to get accustomed to new circumstances (probably hasn't helped that so much has changed in the past couple years... divorce, move, new house, etc.) Anyway, I'm sure she'll be fine, just a bit quiet at first.

BTW, Tammy, my tip for renting a car on St. Thomas is stay on the left side of the road! I'd also make sure it's automatic transmission. St. Thomas isn't nearly as bad as St. John for mountainous roads, but there are some steep uphill hairpin turns, as I recall.

Nothing like the experience of hanging in the back of a Jeep full of luggage as my mother stalled in the middle of a very steep uphill hairpin :scared1:

Reine - Bill & I are going to Orient Beach. The pictures of this beach seem so nice we wanted to try it. Last time we went on the Golden Eagle Catamaran & snorkled on a small island off the French side. It was very nice.

McKaylee was so excited to get the email back from Kaitlin! I think Tanner is obsessed with Buzz SRS because that's all he wants to do. We were going to go to MGM for one day but decided against it so we are doing MK both days! I looked at the weather forcast down there for those days and WOOOHOOO it looks so nice!!! I'm starting the trip nightmares too....like I left my documents home, forgot a whole suitcase you know the normal travel crap!

Reine--sorry to hear you have another project to heap on top of getting ready to go on the cruise but at least you know how to sew...I can't even sew on a button (well maybe 1 but not multiples) so that's cool! I think we are going to take a cab to Orient Beach on St. Marten for a few hours, shop for awhile and then back to enjoy the ship and al of the FOOD!!! Yeah the constable thing is amusing now but it scared the crap out of me! I wrote to a local news guy who helps consumers and people with stuff like this to see if he can help me get MY name and address off that girls stuff...she should be responsible for her behavior not me!

Kathy--I think the course will be really fun! Even if it is only a mirage in my mind!!! I'm going nutty thinking about leaving! The packing will be starting this weekend and finally getting warm here again. Supposed to be mid 70's by tomorrow or Sunday so that will be nice. Maybe I will get rid of my cold that way!!

Haven't heard from Joe or either Jen's....I know Tom is traveling today and Julie is probably out of her mind. Haven't heard from Tracey for awhile either...you all need to get back on here! We have a lot of MIA's lately....either they are enjoying the weather or too busy getting ready to pack. At least in a week we will all be cruising...I can't wait!!!

The kids are now asking me how many hours...Yeah like I haven't rubbed off on them:teeth: I figured it out...we have about 100 hours until we leave...wow!

Ok...off to clean more of my house, get motivated to start dinner EARLIER than 7 tonight and see how my carpet drying technique is working out downstairs..we are ALMOST all dry!!!

Hi gang! I know it is really late, or early if you want to think of it that way. I just decided that I cannot drink wine anymore. My mom and dad are spending the night and between my mom and I we drank a 1.5 liter bottle of wine and I have the mother of all headaches right now and my heart is pounding like it is going to jump out of my body. That is on long run on sentance. I guess that is what happens when you get old.

Heidi, great news on your carpet. Do you have a dehumidifier?

Saturday blonde, good luck on your party. I have Kate's 3rd birthday tomorrow as well. I am just doing Sandwiches from Panera for the adults and PPJ for the kids and of course the huge Costco cake.... yummy!

This post isn't going to be long cause my typing fingers aren't working like they should at 2 in the morning. Just trying to get back to sleep....

Well, after my 3 or 4(I lost count, hadn't seen my mom in a month) glasses of wine, I decided it was time for a fashion show for her. THANKFULLY, the girls were so excited, they actually tried stuff on. One of my problems with getting ready for the cruise is that the girls refused to try on their new clothes. I kept warning them about having to go naked if I packed stuff that didn't fit them.....you can't tell kids anything. Oh-yeah, I also was brave enough to try on my bathing suit. The best thing that has ever happened to me is the advent of bathing suit "pants"....you know girls, the sheer palazzo type pants that cover just about everything. I acutally think I am going to have fun on this cruise bc I have the pants.....

My boss is such a stick in the mud, I was trying to explain them to her and I mentioned that if sales don't pick up I could wear them to my customers to see if showing a little #@! helps???? She freaked. Unfortunately for me...or fortunately....she likes me and understands that I will say anything anywhere just to get a laugh so she politely chuckled. Meanwhile she is telling me about a huge mole she had removed from her butt! Personally, I am not happy about the visual memory that leaves....

Speaking of Finding Nemo-my customers and my husband sometimes think that I remind them of Dory. "Hi I'm Dory".......That is what having children will do to your mind...

Congrats Jason on finishing school! Yay for you. It's such a relief. We went to NYC the weekend after I finished and I just kept saying to myself.."I'm done!" It was VERY slow to sink in. I kept having that rush of panic that there was something else I was supposed to be doing....

For Kate's party favors, we did CD's of all her favorite songs....except her true fave....In Da Club by 50 Cent... Go shorty Go shorty Its your birthday!!! I didn't think the parents would appreciate that but my geeky(said in the most affectionate way) husband was able to just use the first 2 lines and mix it in with the regular Happy Birthday song. If course I have to make 30 lables and CD covers by next week. She is in Daycare and some of the parents will bring in little goddie bags for the school party. I am NOT a fan of the goodie bag. Aside from being really expensive once you add it up, usually its candy and I am totally against most of the candy they give these 3 year olds. It is different for the older kids, but people are sending things 3 year olds can't eat...Anyway, the CD works out to be so cheap and everyone loves them.

I apologize, I guess once my fingers and brain warmed back up I had a lot to say......

Now I have to go back to sleep somehow.... and dream about how I am going to fit everything into my day tomorrow. Hannah has soccer practice, game and pictures in the am, party, tanning, nails( I get them done way in advance and then just go in for a polish change the day before I leave. That way, when I get busy which I always do, it only takes 15 minutes to get the polish changed instead of the 1 hour for the manicure and pedicure.)

OK I just reminded myself that I do have something else to do in these wee hours.... TTFN

I've been sewing an outfit for Robyn for formal night. It was just going to be a "twin set" out of a sequiny material. Unfortunately, it's hasn't turned out the way I wanted. So far I have a sleeveless top that I finally got to work, but the jacket looks horrible. Things don't always look as cute in "real life" as they do on the pattern cover. Now I have to figure out what to put with the top. Maybe an evening shawl? Oh well. I think I'll sleep on it and see what bright ideas I have in the morning.

Dis friends are wonderful. You can talk but they don't call early in the morning and wake you up!

Actually, my night got even more exciting from that point. I had finally decided that I should get back to bed before Katie's big day....5am, finally closed my eyes and I hear men screaming outside my house... now let me explain, I live in surburbia and these things don't happen here. Anyway, my mom comes running down the stairs yelling that someone is being beaten up across the street(again, something that doesn't happen here). So I panic and call 911-the police come out and of course come to my house so now the neighbors know who called the police(like I care). He of course remembered me from the M&M incident of 2003(Hannah stuck an M&M up her nose and I again panicked and called 911). That is a funny story for another time(they asked what color it was????Why is that important?)

Turns out they were drunk and just making a ruckus and now I am the mean lady at the corner. BUT the kid driving away from the scene was so drunk he hit the curb several times on his getaway. So no sleep for me.....

Katie woke up on the wrong side of the bed today and I am thinking about just cancelling her birthday! She doesn't NEED to be 3 yet....

Good (early) morning everyone!

Wow, I don't think our thread has been this quiet for a long time!

Travis and I went to the International Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot today and we stopped by the Animal Kingdom Lodge to see Conny and Silke.

Both are wonderfully nice and I think you'll all just adore them! :D

They are having a blast at Disney so far. They did the Sunrise Safari at DAK this morning and will be heading to Disney-MGM tomorrow. They also plan to visit the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Pleasure Island before the cruise. They'll need a week to relax after that schedule!

Conny said that she attempted to access our May 1st cruise thread at an Internet terminal at the lodge but ran into some problems. She said she had no trouble getting on the Dis Boards but when she clicked on our thread it said "Denied. Explicit Language." (I know this sounds like a joke, but believe me, they were very sincere!) I guess our thread is a little too racy for Disney! :teeth:

Conny asked me to tell you that she felt the Best Western was nice. She said that it was clean and well-kept and that the only downside was the noise level. She said that it was close to the Bee-line Expressway and train tracks and that the hotel caught noise from both. Other than that, she said it was nice.

Glad to see Conny and Silke got to the US safely. Jason, we already knew they were nice but glad they're as fun in person as on the thread.

How was the flower festival. Probably gorgeous.

It's finally cleared up here, at least for now. We got 3" of rain last night as the storm system that kept Heidi miserable slowly moved this way and picked up some gulf moisture to dump on us. I think we're a little below normal in our rainfall so we'll take whatever we can get. It'll be hot and DRY in July so we have to "stock up" in April and May.

If I remember correctly, almost everyone on the thread had really busy weekends. Birthday parties and soccer and lacrosse games, and scrapbooking, and cheerleading and OH MY..I'm getting tired just listing everything.

For those of you following the sewing issues, I talked to DD this morning and she said to forget the jacket, she probably wouldn't wear it anyway. She also implied I was making a big deal over nothing since she wasn't worried about what she would wear for formal night. Oh to be young and live day to day.

She was at WalMart buying new stuff to pack in. I think a collapsable duffel on rollers and another "duffel" that folds up into it's own pouch. She's redistributing how she packs since she brought a giant duffel (body bag size) when she flew from Dallas to Orlando and had to pay overweight charges. :sad: Anyway she got my Coca Colas so I don't have to bring em.

Guess we'll hear from everyone else tomorrow.

This time next week we'll all be on the Magic. :cheer2: :boat: :thewave:

Jason thanks for posting the picture, I'm really glad you guys had the chance to get together. I am sooo jealous you got to check out F&G Festival. If you have any pictures I would love to see them also, but don't worry about it if you don't have the time. I can't decide between Epcot and MK on Friday. Our flight doesn't arrive until 2:30 so we won't have time to do both.

I have a feeling this is going to be a warp drive week. The house is still a disaster area, cleaning people are coming on Monday, carpet (yes that's right Heidi - carpet:teeth: ) cleaners are coming Tuesday, new furniture delivered Wednesday, manicure and pedicures Thursday. Haven't packed a thing (nor do I have a list) have to go to confession (it's a Catholic thing) sometime this week because there is no way I'm getting on a plane without it;)
and I haven't been tanning since the burn, I think they are open until 11:00 so that's a good thing and since that is 2 hours after my official bedtime I can consider it training to keep up with you wild and explicit people:earseek: I have a feeling the White Star isn't going to make to WDW:crazy:

No Alice .. I am wigging out right along with you!!! :crazy: :crazy: :crazy: I have everything laid out to be packed, but am starting to panic that i am going to forget something. And this week is full of typical schedule stuff (Madalyn's gymnastics practices, school for both kids, lacrosse for Teddy) plus the 'cruise' type stuff (tanning, day spa, etc.). Oh my .... the only thing keeping me sane is the knowledge that this time next week i will be heading out of my cabin to a lovely breakfast on board the Magic without a care in the world (with my biggest decision being "Do i want another mimosa with breakfast?") :drinking1

And the day after we return, Joe's whole family is coming to our house for lunch. His younger sister lives in California and we don't often get the chance to be with her, so we are excited for the children to be able to spend time with her ... but now i am worrying about making sure the house is in perfect condition, making sure i have plans for the food/drink for Sunday when they are here, and trying to figure out when we will have time to cut the grass and such after we come back.

Jason, so glad you were able to meet up with Conny and so glad they arrived safely. ROFLMAO about not being able to access our thread .... explicit language my @$$ ... oh wait .. is that what they mean? :teeth:

And i understand what you mean about the rain, Reine ;) We had a horrible drought the year before last and now i welcome every rainstorm we get ... fill those resevoirs before the dry summer gets here!

We spent all afternoon yesterday getting Ryan and myself packed. By last night we were exhausted. Of course we also had to clean the rest of the gross water out of the hot tub, scrub it down with bleach re-suck the water out after cleaning it, take the kids to the park, go to the grocery store to get a few more things like snacks sind Delta no longer feeds us on flights to Orlando anymore even though they are over 4 hours long. We will end up buying dinner in the airport and then snacking the rest of the time.

I can't believe it's Sunday already! Only 2 more real days til we leave and one of those is for tanning and preschool stuff. WOWOWOWOWOWOW It's almost here!

Amber--Hope the party went well!!! Yes I was the original owner of Hooters in Space and sold the rights to the Earth Hooters which is how I now keep up my drinking habits and going on the Disney Cruise!:teeth:

Philly Jen--Ok YOUR post rivals mine in the epic proportion category! But it's nice to have company!!! Sorry to hear the wine did a little thing on you but sometimes that is how we are able to continue to party into the wee hours of the morning. We don't have a de-humidifer but we had a space heater and fans. We were going to rent a carpet drying machine at a Rental company but decided this was working just as well. Too funny about the fashion show! I have those palazzo pants as well and they are my BESTEST FRIEND. I feel so confident with those puppies covering up the gross legs and flabby belly.:earseek: I hope the party went well even though dd wasnt in the mood! I hate throwing parties for my kids before they are about 8 because they always seem to get pissy just before I need to get everything ready!!! I agree about the goodie bags! I do it with hardly any candy but other stuff like bubble or chalk! I don't do them very often however...I figure after a party who the heck needs a goodie bag??? It'll cut into my booze budget if I have to spend it on goodie bags!:crazy: Sorry to hear about the neighborhood! That stinks! We live in Suburbia too but we've had our share of really exciting stuff too!!! The world is too full of crazy people not to have something happen at sometime!!!

Jason I agree on the post being so quiet! I think everyone is in a little bit of panic mode (I know I am) and yesterday was one of my bigger days to panic. Now that Ryan and I are packed it's simple but man trying to figure out in my booze laden brain what needs to go in which suitcase was hard yesterday. So glad you got to meet Conny and Silke! I think it's pretty funny that the internet at the lodge wouldn't let her on due to racy language! ROFLMAO I've had racier conversations with my mom!::yes:: (none of it included alcohol or booze) Great pic you posted! I can't wait to meet all of you guys in person! This thread is the only thing keeping me going lately!!!!!

Reine--Glad that dd calmed the fears about the top! Sorry you got the crummy weather we've been having lately although yesterday was in the low 60's and pretty sunny. Supposed to be in the mid 70's by tuesday and then I could care less what it does here when I'm gone!:teeth: I actually hope it pours for days (except that I hope my basement doesnt flood again) but it would be nice to know I missed it! I'm worried about getting excess charges on our luggage too but oh well...I'll just pay it and move on!! I'm also having dreams that they bump Ryan and the kids since they are on FF miles and I have to fly to orlando by myself! I HATE the pre-cruise dreams!! The dreams on the vacation are so much more pleasant...dreaming of what to eat next is so much easier!

Alice--Wow girl talk about going gungho on the house before you leave! And thank you for finally talking about CARPET! I KNOW now I'm not crazy! LOL I was going to tell you about your yellow walls...our kitchen is yellow and so is McKaylee's bedroom. Something about when it's cold and depressing that a yellow room helps a little bit!!! I have to get the kids packed today. Tomorrow is school and work for Ryan and then if we are feeling better *yeah right* we may go to a local pool to practice our snorkeling skills. Tuesday is a tan day and preschool day for Tanner and then WE LEAVE!!!!! LOL about you doing communion. I should have gone to church today but oh well....I like living dangerously!!! YOu are doing well on your staying up training! I'm pretty sure with everything going on and all of us rowdies together you'll be awake..if not I'll keep kicking you!:tongue:

JenL--I'm partially packed but still wigging out as well!!!! I need to finish the kids packing today and then I have 2 days to get the house completely cleaned from top to bottom along with going tanning. It's so exciting! I can't wait to figure out what to eat and what to drink from all the great food!!! I think it should be a blast! I know by the end my new shorts wont fit...I may be going home naked but at least I'll be happy! OYE on the family visiting on Sunday! I am kind of secretly hoping we get bumped on Saturday coming home and have to fly home on Sunday! LOL I don't have one thing for either mother for that day and I know I wont get anything before we leave. I may just set up a flower delivery to them on Saturday when we get home and forget it! I have to have my house clean to come home to as well...so I feel for you. But mine is just a mental thing more than anything. Apparently you have no idea of a drought! LOL We are in year #6 this year of drought conditions. One of our biggest water sources is 1/2 empty or 1/2 full depending on how optimistic you are about it. I don't care so much because I only drink tonic water and gin and neither are made here...BUT...LOL

Jeff--I like the pressure too for some of it but trying to pack for 5 is harder than usual!!! LOL about Alyssa needing everything..just wait! The older she gets the worse it gets!!!!!

Off to yoga...gotta get the last little bit of my fat in training!

Don't freak out! It's supposed to be a vacation right??? The rain came again overnight but has gone away now and it's bright and sunny.:sunny: I was so excited when we came out of church to see the sunshine.

Don't have any packing done but I have some stuff hanging together in the closet and I got some ironing done yesterday. I took the tags off my new swimsuit yesterday and it said some color might run the first time it gets in the water so guess I'll wash it before we go so I won't look like I'm trying to dye the pool the first time I get in.

I got my new Passporter and I've been checking it out. It just occured to me that I might like to have a Passporter for WDW so I plan to go to the bookstore later this afternoon.

Alice, I'll be on the thread all week since we have to work. Our vacation doesn't start til 4:30 on Friday. Then it's mad dash home to grab the bags and get Paul's truck in the garage and head to mom's. Then airport, Orlando, Hyatt, THEN we go to the MAGIC. :cheer2:

Happy Birthday to all the kiddos who just celebrated. Mine is while we're at WDW after the cruise.

FYI, MOTHER'S DAY ALERT It's the DAY AFTER the cruise. GUYS, this is your fair notice that we gals don't do well.:sad: :sad2: if you don't make a big deal about this. :idea: Get your cards BEFORE the cruise so you're prepared. Also mail cards to distant moms Port Canaveral before we sail or it will be late! We got cards to take with us for mom and aunt, and will mail MIL's card on Friday as we leave. Notice has been given so now we have the right to feel bummed if you don't give us the notice we earned.

I'm still not sleeping right and Sunday afternoon is the time God designed for naps....Right? So I'm off to get horizontal and sleep.

Jason or anyone, do you have any idea about the dining rotation? Which one is highly unlikely given our kid situation(3 & 5)? I am thinking the one with Lumiere's 3 times is probably reserved for older kids and adults? I know it is a crap shoot but my travel agent who is also on the cruise with us requested PLAPLAP and wondering how likely we are to get it if she requested it?

JenL! Great job on the scrapbooking award. I have a blank scrapbook that I bought 5 years ago from Creative Memories and have yet to get started. The intention is absolutely there though.....

No problem concerning the cruise matrix! I put it together a while ago to help organize when I wanted to make reservations for Palo dinner, Champagne Brunch, High Tea, and the spa. It really helps put the whole week "at a glance."

I don't think that rotations are really set in stone but with younger kids you are probably much more likely to get APLAPLA. With older kids the likely rotation is PLAPLAP and with mainly adults the likely rotation is LAPLAPL.

Travis and I have always ended up with LAPLAPL. However, we usually print out all three matrix sheets just in case!

Well it's official except for the last minute things ie: toothbrush,hair stuff we are COMPLETELY PACKED UP AND READY TO GO with 2 days to spare! :jumping1: I can't believe that in only 2 more full days I will be all jumpy to get to the airport! THat means after eating dinner tonight I only have to fix 1 more dinner for 12 days...WOW! LOL I know SOME little things excite me!:teeth:

LOL we are taking a laptop but I highly doubt we will be inerneting while gone! We take it mostly for Tanner to watch a movie on the plane and to upload the 3000's pictures we take every day. It's technically only like a day and a half for you since we don't leave our house until 3 on Wednesday and you fly in on Friday..so it's basically Thursday! ANd if you'd get your butt in gear and get a room at POR then it would be even sooner that we could meet up!:hyper:

JenL-I forgot in my earlier post to congratulate you on your scrapbooking award! Way to go! The only thing I'd win is "most repetitive page" award. I tend to get stuck on one idea for a few pages!

Reine--Glad to see the rain is gone! It is a balmy 63 degree day here but I'll take it over rain anyday! I looked at the weather forcast for us in Florida and WOOHOO It still looks like it will be nice and warm! Our packing is finished for all 5 of us minus the stuff we just can't pack until Wednesday morning. Just need to do the credit card notifications and a few other things and we are set. I plan on "talking" Ryan into something really nice on one of the islands for my mother's day present OR trying to con him into re-booking one of the rumored California cruises....that would be more fun! As for cards..not a big card person so I don't send or receive! :smooth: I wish I was horizontal sleeping this cold off but I'm not...my kids are so hyper that they are driving me bonkers! I can't wait to get to Wednesday just to not have to hear how much longer?????

Philly Jen--Yep the cruise matrix is awesome!! I have reprinted the sailing list like 5 times now because it keeps growing! I have my lists all together in baggies or in a folder stapeled together so we don't forget something! As for dining rotation I know when we went before with the inlaws we had Parrot Cay, Triton's and Animator Palate on the 4 day cruise. We had a 3, 7 and 9 year olds with us!! I think the dining rotation is a crap shoot actually!

Well we still haven't heard anything from a NUMBER of people lately like Tracey, Tammy, Amber, Allison, Kathy, Lisa, Tom OR Julie (where's my bra dammit) and the rest whom I have forgotten in my exhausted post packing stupor! COME OUT people!!! It's almost time to leave!! Let's hear it from you!

Hi guys! We're sitting here wondering about our lush habits and we are SO hoping since you are the Disney experts you can help us! Ryan and I are planning on buying our Gin and Bourbon in Florida on our Limo comp grocery stop (hopefully the driver will know where to go on Sat morning and hopefully they are open by the time we go) BUUUTTTT We are wondering where we are going to be able to buy TONIC MIX or Club soda?????? Do they sell it on Disney property or how are we going to get both? Do they sell Gin and tonic or Club Soda at the liquor store??? You know us in Utah are so liquor repressed that we are CLUELESS when it comes to Florida (now Vegas we KNOW!) LOL But can you help US PLEASE???????????????????????????????????????

What would you suggest???? Is there a market in Disney we can buy that mixer stuff at or are we going to have to take a cab to get tonic or what??? PLEASE GUYS HELP US!!! I'll buy you both a drink for your help (if it is correct that is!:teeth: ;) )

Hmmm... Interesting questions you ask! :)

Any of the liquor stores here in Florida will probably have everything you need. Gin, bourbon, club soda, and tonic mix. If you stop at a grocery store, you'll easily find the club soda and the tonic mix but you won't be able to purchase the liquor.

Most of the Disney resorts will have a sundries shop that will sell alcohol. For instance, we stopped in the AKL shop last night just to have a look and they had a wide selection of alcohol. Generally they were smaller-sized bottles however and I'm sure they were pricey considering it's Disney. I haven't been to Port Orleans in a while but even if they didn't have alcohol you could always hop on the monorail or bus and hit the Contemporary, AKL, or one of the other resorts. Downtown Disney Marketplace also used to have a large liquor selection at Mickey's Gourment Pantry but I believe that has closed.

Let me know if this info is helpful. Are you guys looking to buy this stuff for the stay at WDW or for the ship? If it's the latter, and you need Travis and I to pick something up and bring it onboard, just let us know. We would be happy to help out.
