Hey All,

We will be doing our second cruise on 4/3/2004 - I know there will be at least a few other DISSERS with us - Who are you?

Lets get this thing rockin'

UMTerp
09-26-2003, 04:27 PM
Myself, DH, DS(9), DD(6). Went on Western 7-day last year too! Can't wait!

kpgclark
09-27-2003, 07:04 PM
UMTerp, we'll have to get the kids together to meet! We're traveling with a DS9 and a DD6 (but she'll be 7 on the cruise). We did the Western last year and Trekker was on that cruise too. We had a blast last year and we're really looking forward to the next one.

Trekker
09-29-2003, 03:54 PM
Cool - at least there are 3 of us - looks like the ship will be empty - unless of course someone other than DISSERS are going - LOL!

kpgclark
09-29-2003, 03:57 PM
Trekker, I just don't get it. I figured we'd have more folks going with us especially since it is Easter break.

Trekker
09-30-2003, 03:45 PM
Yeah! I remember last year this was a very active thread - we had a huge group of Dissers on the ship. Maybe they just have not seen the thread yet?

kpgclark
09-30-2003, 03:50 PM
Let's just keep the thread active a bit and we'll see if anyone joins us.

UMTerp
10-02-2003, 01:20 PM
I agree, should be a full ship!

kpgclark,
Yes, we will have to get the kids to meet.
My DD is 5 now but will be 6 by April. They will be in the same club.

kpgclark
10-02-2003, 01:38 PM
UMTerp, that's great. Not only are the kids the same age, but the same sex. Hopefully they'll get along well. My guys really enjoyed the Eastern last year and would love to meet some friends on the cruise.

Not getting much of a response for our April 24, 2004 either. Miss you guys.

Myself, DH & DS (16) will be on the April 3rd cruise. It is our 1st (I'm so excited!)

Fanof Dis

It is so cool you will be on this cruise!

Judy

Good to here from you - hope all is well!

Come on folks - there have to be more of you on the 4/3/2004 eastern cruise!

gduvall
10-03-2003, 02:58 PM
Count us in! Myself, DW, DD(14), DD(12). This will be our 5th time. We were also on the Western the same week last year. Hopefully the seas will be alot calmer!!!::yes:: We're also bring as first time cruisers my DBil, Dsil, there DD(13), DD(9).

kpgclark
10-03-2003, 03:10 PM
UMTerp, did you get my PM?

gduvall, glad you are coming too. Wasn't last year the pits related to the choppy water? My poor DD got very seasick. This time I'm packing drugs for her.

Trekker
10-03-2003, 03:50 PM
I am very positive that this year we will not have the rough seas. I'm also positive this will not be a repeat of The Mystery Cruise

I sure hope we all get a chance to meet and spend sometime together!

kpgclark
10-03-2003, 04:00 PM
Trekker I hope your inside information is right! :boat:

When are you arriving in Orlando? We are getting in very late on April 1 - staying at the Swan and Dolphin for 2 nights and then heading to the port.

kpgclark
10-04-2003, 08:36 AM
I'm not sure yet. I haven't found good airfare yet. I'd like to come down on the 2nd, early in the day. I'm not sure where we will stay yet though. We're going to WDW over Thanksgiving so I don't think we'll spend any time there before the cruise. After the cruise I think we'll spend a day at the Space Center or playing in the ocean perhaps. I'm not sure what the shore weather will be like in April or what the ocean temp will be.

Trekker
10-06-2003, 02:56 PM
We are scheduled to fly home in the evening of the 10th. Plan to just hit some outlet malls in Orlando after debarkment from the ship - then head to the airport.

UMTerp
10-09-2003, 05:30 PM
kpgclark,

I know what you mean about flights!
The prices are pretty high right now.
Anyone know when the prices become a little more reasonable for springtime?

Thanks!

gduvall
10-09-2003, 05:56 PM
The ticket prices will probably continue to go up from here, because of the Easter holiday.

IF ANY OF YOU GUYS GOING ON THIS APRIL 3, EASTERN CRUISE WANT TO EMAIL ME AND CHAT ABOUT IT, PLEASE DO. MAYBE SOME OF OUR KIDS WILL BE IN THE SAME GROUP. OH MAN, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW EXCITED I AM ABOUT THIS CRUISE. THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST DC. WE HAVE CRUISED BEFORE BUT OUR DAUGHTER HASN'T, SHE WILL BE 8 WHEN WE GO. I WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU PEOPLE WHO POST REGULARLY. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS SITE YESTERDAY AND HAVE READ ALMOST EVERYTHING. YOU GUYS ARE SO HELPFUL. I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT A DISSER IS? LOL AND ALSO HOW DO YOU GET THAT THING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE POST THAT SAYS HOW MANY MORE DAYS, HOURS, MINUTES TILL THE CRUISE?

kpgclark
10-14-2003, 11:44 AM
Welcome to the boards! You will find a wealth of information here. Go to the tech support board and there will be a thread at the top that directs you on how to get the tag line with the countdown.

This is our second cruise and I know you will love it. What state are you from and what kind of cabin did you book?

UMTerp
10-14-2003, 04:25 PM
Can we use this as the "official" thread?
I don't know how that works?

Thanks!

Trekker
10-14-2003, 04:27 PM
Sillysmom - welcome to the DIS! It will be awesome for you on this cruise. Here is the place that we can do all the chatting about the cruise - let's keep this thread going.

sillysmom
10-14-2003, 04:36 PM
Thanks for the welcome guys! We are from Long Island, New York. And we are very excited especially my 8 year old DD (see i'm gettin the lingo already). We booked category 11 with a guarantee (just found out what that is). People are saying that the guarantee gives you a better chance of an upgrade. We shall see. I will be happy with this room, only because we do not sit still EVER. We like to keep very busy, and the $1000 more for the veranda was NUTS. Least I think so. Any comments on that? I would love to keep this thread going. My boss is freaking, ever since I've found this site, I have been on NON STOP. I just ordered the passporters book on amazon brand new for $4.50 think I got a good deal. Can't wait to get it. I'm finding so much out from you regulars its great thanks again.::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Hi again Sillysmom. I'm originally from Long Island-- south shore in Suffolk County. Where on the Island are you? You can send me a Private Message if you don't want to post it. Look on the screen and you'll see a button to send a private message.

HI BACK KPG, I LIVE IN CORAM, THATS RIGHT NEXT TO PORT JEFFERSON. HAVE YOU BEEN ON OTHER DC'S? ARE YOU TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN? IF SO HOW OLD ARE THEY?

kpgclark
10-14-2003, 06:07 PM
My mom taught school (art) in Port Jeff for many years. They have since moved to Vermont. My grandmother lives in Stoneybrook and my Aunt/Uncle in Hauppauge- all near you.

We are traveling with our DS9 (son who is 9) and our DD7 (daughter who will be 7 when we cruise). We have cruised the Western before on what is affectionately known as the "mystery cruise) because bad weather caused many detours and changed ports as Trekker will attest.

sillysmom
10-14-2003, 07:47 PM
I grew up in Central Islip, which is the next town over from Hauppauge. That is cool. Anyway maybe your son and my daughter will be in the same group, that would be cool. I love this board is unbelievable. I'm taking down notes like crazy. I'm trying to do that countdown thing, but it is simply now working. Once I put in all the information, there is no enter key or anything. Do you have a clue?

Trekker
10-15-2003, 10:17 PM
I certainly can attest to the mystery cruise last spring - But I personally loved Costa Maya!

My kids are a bit older than either of yours - 14 and 16 when we cruise - I gotta tell ya - sometimes it feels like DW and I are on a cruise by ourselves - the kids are always gone doing something.

The only thing we insist on is dinner together every night

kpgclark
10-15-2003, 10:26 PM
I really liked Costa Maya too! It was a nice compact port and we had fun on the beach. The free entertainment was decent. I liked the pool there, but we didn't go in because it was chilly. It was too bad the weather was so crummy. I also wonder if the water is always so cold or if cold water just floated in because of the storms.

kpgclark
10-15-2003, 10:28 PM
Sillysmom, I didn't see your post until just now. Would you believe I graduated from East Islip High School? I lived in South Great River. I was in the same grade as Boomer.

Hi Everyone!!! Just popping in on your thread. We won't be joining you on this cruise, I just wanted to wish you all well. I was solo at WDW last April, and had the pleasure of meeting Trekker, Mrs. Trekker, and the 2 Trekker Teens at an Off Kilter show. They had just finished their cruise in '03.

What a nice family, and the kids were just aces. So nice to see them enjoying hanging out with Mom and Dad, and not being 'too cool'. If you get the chance, make a point to meet them and say Hi.

I hope you all have a blast!!!!!

Debbie <-----hoping to convince DH we need an April '05 cruise!

sillysmom
10-16-2003, 01:52 PM
HEY KPG, what year did you graduate? I graduated in 1980, my DH in 1977. My husband worked with Boomers brother in law for 25 years. lol it is a small world. My brothers went to St. Marys School for a couple of years too. I used to be in East Islip alot when MEAT FARMS was there, do you remember that? Hope we can meet up with each other on this cruise. That would be cool. Linda

kpgclark
10-16-2003, 01:57 PM
I graduated in 1979. Sure I remember Meat Farms. I had friends that worked there while in High School.

Trekker
10-16-2003, 10:57 PM
Hi Debbie,

It was a pleasure to have metyou as well. Thanks so much for all teh kind words, it is a great joy to hear when other people enjoy meeting the kids!

Trekker - thanks for your countdown clock! I check this thread often for that countdown! Getting close to buying my airline tickets (ouch!). Still thinking about where we will stay the night before. What's everyone else's plans? Anyone made a reservation yet? What are the prices like at the airport hotels or near the port during spring break?

gduvall
10-23-2003, 09:27 AM
We get in early on April 2 and we're going to check out Pop Century for the night before.

UMTerp
10-23-2003, 12:13 PM
gduvall - If you don't mind me asking... what is Pop Century?

Thanks!

gduvall
10-23-2003, 01:10 PM
Pop Century is Disney's new resort that their opening this December. It's a value resort, so it's not to expensive for one night.

Hey All,

Myself and my 2 dd's ages 16 and 11 will be on that cruise as well.

I think you are a bit confused as Easter is the 11th and we will all be off the ship by then.

We were originally booked on the "Easter" cruise (our 3rd) but my school district changed our calendar to include Passover....so therefore we had to travel the week prior to Easter.( I am a teacher)

My 16 yo is concerned that she will not have a good time as when we rebooked on the ship last Easter, there were many of us dis'ers who were going to be together again.

I hope I can hook her up, as I have in the past...so she will be comfortable.

The last time we all wore lime green Mickey stickers from the Home Depot paint section to designate ourselves at the port at check-in. We wrote our screen names on the stickers as well. It was great fun...we had the party started before we even boarded!

Hope to hear more from all of you.

Hey FanofDis, where in NJ are you....and you have 16yo s?

sillysmom
10-23-2003, 03:43 PM
Who said it was a Easter Cruise, I think it says Eastern. But anyway, those stickers sound like a great idea. We should all talk about it when the time comes closer to our departure. I hope to meet some of you on the boat. Feel like I know some of you already. :wave2:

Good to here you clan will be aboard. My DS 16 and DD 14 nwill be there - close to your kids ages. Last year the kids had the "best vacation ever" and are really looking forward to meeting new and old friends at the teen hangout.

Tell your DD - not to worry there will be plenty of great kids to meet and fun to be had!

And it does say EASTERN not Easter! LOL!

Anyone try to make reservations at the Raddison for the night before? I looked at their web site and it looked like they didn't have any rooms for 4 left for April 2nd.

dcbrown
10-28-2003, 04:29 PM
I have reservations ....but I made them at the same time I booked the Cruise....last spring ....I like to plan ahead.....also booked the Hard Rock Hotel for 2 nights when we come in on the 10th/11th.

I passed the info on to my daughter Trekker...she was slightly excited when I told her you had a 16yo son!!! She is a very congenial kid and I am sure she will meld w/your 14yo d as well!!!

10-30-2003, 01:44 PM
Got a reservation last night for the Radisson! Got my flights set too. Just need to work on rental car for the drive in and town car for the drive back. Anyone used a town car before? I'm not sure what time I should tell them to pick up at the port.

Thanks!

kpgclark
10-30-2003, 01:47 PM
We used Tiffany town car. You don't have to tell them a time. They'll just be there waiting. They will tell you the procedure when they bring you to the pier.

dcbrown
10-30-2003, 01:59 PM
We have used Florida Tours and Mears for Town Car service...both were very good...FL Tours had a coupon on site last year and the owner is usually the driver!

This is the only thing I did not book yet!

dcbrown
10-30-2003, 03:05 PM
I always use Spirit out of Atlantic City....We have the 3pm flight on Friday the 2nd....when I booked in the spring, it was $239...I believe.
Don't know where in PA you are ...but ACY is a great alternative to Philly.
It looks like we spend our lunch hour doing the same thing....reading the boards!

We are flying out of BWI. Airfaire was pretty high ($350) but I was afraid to wait any longer. All fares had gone up since I fist started checking on them and I was afraid we wouldn't get the times we needed. We had to fly Delta to use some vouchers that we had.

kpgclark - we are only using the town car one way (from the port). Do you think I need to tell them a time or just tell them where to pick us up?

Thanks!

kpgclark
10-30-2003, 04:21 PM
What time is your flight out when you leave? Usually the drivers just get there whenever and chat in the parking lot. We had a late flight out and we told the driver we were going to stay on the ship as long as possible. He said he would be there talking in the parking lot.

dcbrown
10-30-2003, 04:22 PM
If you are using one of the main services ...just tell them DCL....they will know when to be there....they check the arrivals just like they do for flights as there is an occasional delay.

DCBrown:Pinkbounc :smooth: :Pinkbounc :smooth: :Pinkbounc pirate:

UMTerp
10-31-2003, 01:08 PM
Our flight out is at 11:50 so we won't be able to spend any extra time in FL. I'll just tell them it's for a return trip from DCL.

Thanks for the info!

Hello to all! We are going on our first Disney cruise April 3rd! I will be going with my Mom & Dad (in their 50's), My Grandparents (in their 80's) and my family us, (in our 30's) our two kids (:earsgirl: 8 & :earsboy: 10 ) I read that some of you have kids the same ages, I would love for them to get together. We went to Disney World in 99, it was fun, went with the same group of family members, all we did was :chat: argue drove me crazy  at least we will get our own room and do things on our own. I have been researching about the Dolphin Fantaseas program the ship has at St. Maarten and although it is pricey, we will sacrafice. My daughter wants to be a marine scientist. Let me know if you have had any experience with the dolphin trip. I hope to hear from someone soon. Nice to meet you all, Stephanie. Got to get backon my diet now:laughing:

Welcome to our little (but growing) group! I will have a 7 year old daughter and a son who will be almost 10 on the cruise. There is another group with children about the same age/sex as ours as well. This will be a great cruise and we can't wait to go! Last time we cruised everyone met up right after the boat drill. We'll have to schedule a meet closer to cruising time. I also ran into some people in line that day too.

sillysmom
11-04-2003, 09:30 AM
Hi Monchichi welcome. This will be our first Disney Cruise as well. Our DD is also 8, maybe the girls can get together, that would be fun to know someone. Does your DD go on the computer? Maybe she would want an e pal or something . Anyway we are planning on doing the Dolphin and Stingray encounter, is that the excursion you are referring to? It is a bit pricey but it sounds great. We are also planning to go snorkeling, and the DH and DD are going to parasail. I cannot wait to go on this trip! By the way, HI to KPG haven't talked to you in awhile my Long Island Friend, hope all is well!

UMTerp
11-04-2003, 12:53 PM
Welcome Monchichi!

Love your smileys!

I haven't started to think about excursions yet. Anyone thinking of doing them on their own instead of through DCL? We did that last time in Grand Cayman. Gave us more flexibility and cost at lot less!

Monchichi
11-04-2003, 01:10 PM
Yes sillysmom we are doing that one w/ the stingrays. I looked up the website to do a price check, and that is one that is better to take the ships tour instead of doing it on your own. I talked to someone who lived there and he said the boat ride alone to get to the other island would be $25.50 per person. then you have to get a taxi on both islands. I added it up and the ship is a better deal for this one.
I would love to get together with everyone. I know we have the late dinner. how about everyone else? I don't mind, my kids are late nighters.
My daughter, Taylor, goes online with me sometimes. I will ask her today after school about an e-pal.
here is the web site to the dolphin thing if you want more info:
http://www.dolphinfantaseas.com/ they let you buy the photo's online, so your other family members can buy them. I also found lots of info at www.***************** lots of pictures and insider tips.
We also got a Cat 11 room, dosen't matter to me about a window, just going to sleep there. LOL :teeth:
My son, Bryson, is happy to go, but the first thing he asked was, "What happens if the ship sinks?" Oh boy!

Monchichi

Hey, UMTerp, I use to live in VA. I lived in Burke for 9 years, and I graduated in 89 from Lake Braddock is that close to you? I miss Va soooo much.:(

UMTerp
11-04-2003, 02:59 PM
Hey Monchichi!

Yes, we are close to Burke! We are in Fairfax, near Fairfax City! I have visited your lovely state a few times! Had a great time!

Good info about the excursion - thanks!
I'll check it out.

We have early seating. We are early risers due to school and work schedules (and East Coast time).

Funny about your DS comment!

sillysmom
11-04-2003, 04:39 PM
MONCHICHI, That is funny, we have a lot in common. First we're definitely doing the dolphin stringray excursion at St. Maarten (I think), then at St. Thomas we're doing the submarine. I may have the ports mixed up but I don't think so. In Castaway Cay we're going to do the snorkeling, and my DH and DD are going to do the parasailing. We are also in a Category 11 guarantee room, and I also COULD NOT CARE LESS. If we get upgraded that would be great, if not OH WELL! We will not be spending much time in the room at all. I don't even know much time my DD will spend in the lab. I think she will spend more time there after dinner. We also have late seating. I figure she'll hang out with us all day, and then we'll see the show, have dinner and then she can go in the lab for a bit and we'll hang out alone for a little while. Let me know if your DD would like a e mail Disney buddy to chat about their upcoming trip, I think that would be cool. My daughter is in 3rd grade and her name is Gina.

11-07-2003, 02:40 PM
Wow, day's are going fast here. Sillysmom, I talked to Taylor and she would love to talk to Gina. I have MSN messenger I could get her a screan name or something, let me know. This weekend the kids get 4 days off, so we are going to be doing some pre-garage sale set-up. I have so much to get rid of. We started a saving bank for all of us to put our change in for the trip. The kids like that. Taylor even added her tooth fariy money princess: what a doll!
Well I hope everyone is having a good day! talk to you all later,

Hey all!

Been away on a couple of hunting trips - just checking in to say Hello!

We should make plans for an embarkment day meet, I think that on Deck 9 near Scoop's always seems to work good. Maybe someone could volunteer to make a sign/banner/poster/flag/balloons or something that could be what we all look for.

Anyway as time draws near - we should DIScuss this.

Are you kidding....I am fortunate enough to have to take an unexpected trip to the "World" because my daughter's cheerleading team came in first in the Eastern U.S. and must compete in the Nationals at WDW (darn it!) We already had plans to go for my 50th over the Christmas holidays (26th-3rd) and with the cruise not too far along after that .....Heck, I am just going to stay packed.

I have always saved snowy days in the North East to do my cruise packing and it looks like its headed here this weekend!!!

Well according to the weather guys we are to get snow tonight and tomorrow!

Here's a heads up... We might cancel our cruise. We've basically been traveling non-stop over school vacations and the Disney cruise will be our third cruise in one year. My DH and I are leaving on Friday for a week long cruise alone! Additionally we just spent 10 days at WDW. We're thinking about just taking it easy over the Easter break. I'll keep you up to date, but we're leaning toward cancelling.

Well we haven't cancelled yet but we also haven't purchased airfare. We'll see how we feel when we get back from our cruise next week. We are leaning toward going to the Cape May four a couple of weeks in the summer instead of the cruise though.

Hi everyone!!! This will be our first cruise! I am getting very excited. We are doing the land/sea trip. Our daughter (15) knows about the cruise, but not the parks trip. We are so sneaky.:smooth:

Our group is myself, DH, and DD (15).

Any other teens going to be on board? Any advice for us first-timers?

FanofDis....this will be my 16yo dd 3rd cruise and each time she gets off the boat w/tears in her eyes because she has met some wonderful kids....last year she met them on these boards first and then at port we identified ourselves with lime green mickey stickersw/our screen names printed on them. We were already off to a great start. We got the stickers at the home depot paint section..I am sure I have cleaned out the one in Lakewood NJ!!

The teens have an initial meet w/counselors at the beginning of the cruise where they do introductions and go over ground rules.

My daughter is a very congenial Jersey Girl...honor student ....drama queen...and wanna be surfer!!! Perhaps she can correspond at some point w/your son?

Ahh, HS..I spent 4 years at an alternative HS doing math and History. Begged to move to elementary. Love it!! I work in a great district, incredible town, the whole nine yards. I've been there 2 years and still pinch myself...
I'm not sure about the shore excursions. My son wants to do the dolphin adventure, but I worry about the catamaran over to St. Johns. Read lots of posts of seasickness!! May opt for a beach chair on a resort. Some shopping. Any suggestions?
We are staying at the Holiday Inn Select for the night before and the night after. I'm sucking it up for each second of my break!! The best thing for my son is that his "official" break starts the following week. So he won't have to bring his homework!!:Pinkbounc

Hey Kelly it seems as if we have the same idea! I'm just gonna check my excursions that I made this morning. You called it the dolphin swim, on the excursion list it is the encounter. I've heard about someone that booked the encounter and they ended up being booked for the observation (that will never do). I also booked the snorkle package at Castaway, I figured we can do that any time of the day so that will be good, they have an area just for that. I also want to do the couples cabana massage, but you must do that on the boat. What category did you book and where are you from (just curious). I'm dying to know my room but I have an 11 guarantee, and I'm hearing I may have to wait till I get my documents. Hopefully I can find out sooner.

kellydmac
02-03-2004, 03:33 PM
OK- it is the encounter----I called to double check myself--just to be safe! Whew!:p When you mentioned that someone booked it without being able to swim, I got a little nervous, but we are booked to be active with the dolphins!
We also booked at a cat. 11 with a guarantee through our TA. I will be happy with whatever category and room we get, but I would also like to know what cabin we will have.
I see you are late dinner. So are we!
I would also love to get a cabana massage as well as a spa visit onboard. Maybe we will meet up in line on the 3rd!! We all deserve the pampering! princess:
So looking forward to this first cruise! This winter weather is driving me nuts!!!

Oh and YES I will be getting some sort of spa treatment. I was thinking a facial one day that 20 minute bath thing that feels like it was two hours. I was also looking at making an appointment at one of the spas in the hotels when we dock. but I think they will be just as much money.

Take care all, Steph

All of the Dolphin Encounters have a meeting time of 7:30, we picked the 10:30? for the submarine in St. Thomas, and the 10:15 parasailing (not me, the hubby and dd) for CC. I was thinking about the cabana massage, but I read back on the old threads, and some people made the argument that you're taking away from the day on the island, I kinda agree, and also the fact that it is so expensive and the noise can make it not as enjoyable as it should be. So with that, I've decided to do a couples massage in the spa. I think myself and the dh will be very happy with that. By the way kelly, how old are your child(ren)? Our dd is 8 and is just now getting very very excited. Can't wait to meet all of you.

Hello everyone!
I am sooooo excited:hyper: it won't be long now. I am leaving my and my hubby's clothes until last. the spring/summer clothes are just starting to come out. I got my DDprincess: all her shoes at walmart for 3$ a pair and they were last years summer stuff. I need some water shoes, and some shorts, hubby needs some dockers. Not going to get to fancy on the dress up nights because we probably will never wear them again. (Not much high class shindigs going on here) Oh, Well. I UPSed info to get my DH's Birth Certificate. 40$ round trip:earseek: But it will get here within the week, I will get mine next week since I was born in Washington.
I need to get the Alien Green Stickers and some bubbles and glow sticks, and some other odds and ends.

Hey Monchichi (Steph), I'm on the last minute shopping spree also. You can absolutely get your room number now. If you booked through disney call them they will tell you. If not call you're travel agent, they will call with you on hold and get you the number. A note to everyone else, we will be able to find out our flight arrangements (even without documents) on the 30th day out which will be Thursday the 4TH. My travel agent is gonna get it and call me back with it, so if you wait until Thursday, you can get both the cabin, and the flight information as well. I'm dying to know myself, and I'm also getting a limo to the airport and I have to give them the time, I certainly can't wait until I get my documents, it is Spring break and a very busy week for those guys. Steph, Gina is dying to talk to Taylor, so if she is interested, PM me and I will get your number and give you ours, I have free long distance on my cell on Sat. and Sundays, so we could call and it wouldn't cost a thing. Don't know why the email didn't get through, but Gina just asked me last nite and she is disappointed they didn't get to chat yet. She's already telling everyone that she ALREADY knows someone on the boat! You know I spoke to someone the other day who went on the cruise 2 years ago. He told me that Gina will not wanna be away from the clubs. I'm kinda hoping that is not the case, I originally thought she wouldn't want to hang all day and would just go after dinner for a little bit, but from what I'm hearing, I'm starting to think we're never gonna see her. I hope it is a happy medium and not too much either way. THE DAYS ARE GOING SO SLOW AREN'T THEY?

Saturday, Works best for us, my son has soccer tryout in the morning so we will be up early. You are on east coast right? so I add 3 hours, anytime after 11:30 my time I will be able to have her talk. I will PM you with the #, I think I have statewide LD because they said I could call Cali. We have our flights we are on a red eye leaving here around 11pm and getting there around 9 or 10 in the morning. we are going to be dead tired but maybe we will get a second wind ..LOL I will send that pic soon, Talk to you all later.

OH MAN! Just got a fax from my TA with our travel arrangements. I'm pretty sure I'm rebooking for next year on board, but I AM NOT taking the DCL air. My flight leaves at 6:45 NY time so that means the limo has to pick us up at 3:30 to get us there 2 hours before the flight. THEN we have a one hour layover in Pittsburgh and get to Orlando at 11:35. I understand that it is about an hour ride to port, so we will be there in plenty of time and probably feel unrushed, BUT REAL REAL TIRED. Our flight home leaves at 11:35 a.m., so I'm figuring we have to be off the boat by like 8:30? Then we have ANOTHER layover in Atlanta for an hour and a half and we will get to the airport in NY at 4:43 p.m. which means we will be home sometime around 7:00-7:30. Way too much work for a 3 hour ride. Next time I'm going the night before and getting my own air. I'm not going to get any sleep from Friday until Saturday night. I get home from work at 6:00, gotta finish packing and I CAN NEVER sleep well before a trip, and I would have to get up like 1:30 a.m. to get myself ready before waking up the DH and DD. Oh well, I'll live, hopefully I'll get my second wind lol :o

I guess I will be taking the Atlantis ride we got tickets for that, but I may let my dad go in my place. I will be getting My Hubby'd birth certificate by UPS today, amazing what $40 can get you if you are in a hurry.
I think I will get one of those over the door shoe holders, maybe two. I was reading some comments other shippers have made and they said there were small drawers and not many of them. (in 11, 12 cat.)

The last 2 times we went it was the same time of year. Once away from Fla it was very HOT!! We needed more bathing suits than thought and less of everything else. The theatre is chilly so you need a sweater or light jacket ....really for any place that is AC...like restaurants. Very few people get dressed to the nines for the formal and semi formal evenings....I have yet to do a dressy dress. All in all bring less than you think you need and don't forget that one pair of really comfy shoes.

Hi Sillysmom,

DD's name is Kate and would love to hook up with the other girls in the club. She had a good enough time last year, but she was alone. She met a few other kids who were in the club by themselves. Our son is 6 and he was in the lab. It didn't matter to him at all. After brunch at Palo, we tried to convince him to go swimming with us but told us to go away and come back later.

It would be nice if we're swimming with the dolphins at the same time.

Trekker, have a question for you. When you land at Orlando and you go to baggage claim to the DCL booth, do you have to find your luggage and drag it there to get on the bus, or do they find it for you and take it when they get it, so that the next time you see it is on the boat?

Then I'm going to buy those iron on felt letters. I'm going to do it next week sometime, when I can take my time. Sounds like we're in the same vicinity. I checked our docs. and we're in 6545. Laundry and elevators are real convenient to us. The club is a stairway away. Maybe we'll have the same dinner rotation. Last year, we had a table for 4, so we didn't get to meet too many over dinner.

Sillysmom

We rebooked last April before we got off the boat. We needed some of your pixie dust. Maybe we can upgrade at check in. Did DCL charge you more to upgrade?

We're off to mall to shop do some shopping. I don't know how shopping has been going for all of you, but there isn't very much out for hot weather for us ladies. DH, DD & DS are finding things, but no luck for me.

Went shopping today and got him a suit for formal night. Oh my, looks so handsome!!! All I've done since the doctor called with the good news is spend, spend, spend!!!! Getting myself warmed up for the cruise...
Seems like I'm the only one on the 2nd floor. You guys are all pretty close, I'll be up to hang with you all. Bring on the drinks!! Would love to hook up at the beach too. I'm kinds of worried about feeling weird traveling alone with just Matthew. I think the thought of being lonely at dinner is what is really bothering me. Who knows, maybe I'll be seated with another "single" traveling parent!
Gotta go, the boys are running amuck!!! Now that Matthew has been given the clear to resume to normal "boy" activities he and his brother have been having a lot of fun. Who knew my 16 year old could be "nice' to his younger brother....:teeth:
Can't wait to meet all of you!!!!

Yep!! Chopped liver!! I forgot you were on the 2nd with me!!! Yeah for us!!!
It's going to snow here. UGH!!!
Can't stand to see another flake. I'm afraid of having more snow days...We have testing this week, so they will push to have school in session even if it's only a half day!!! Lucky for me. I hope that after this week the snow word is a distant memory for this winter!!!
Can't wait to meet all and put screen names to faces!!

Hi Monchichi

Great list! Thanks! We're late setting and DS is 6.

Dc consider yourself lucky. We're suppose to get 5-9 inches of snow today. We'll end up with 9+ inches. Ugh! Our snow piles only melted this past week. Kids will probably have a delay or closure tomorrow. We already have 6 snowdays. This vacation can't come soon enough.

Trekker, have a question for you. When you land at Orlando and you go to baggage claim to the DCL booth, do you have to find your luggage and drag it there to get on the bus, or do they find it for you and take it when they get it, so that the next time you see it is on the boat?

I do not use DCL transfers - but my understanding is that you will not touch your bags until you get on the ship

There are four of us traveling last year Fl. Tours picked us up at the airport with the towncar. We almost did not get all our luggage in. For the rest of our legs of transportation Andy brought the luxury van. We had 5 lg checked bags and 4 sm carry ons.

How's packing going?

Trekker - thank you so much for the info on the town car. I just called and upgraded to a limo to be safe (and to surprise the family)!

Monchichi - Great List - Thanks! We have early seating.

I might just start this weekend. I've decided to bring all my dry cleaning on the boat and let them do it. Why do it here (more expensive at home believe it or not), and bring it there to be pressed again. Let them do it all!

Here is a Monchichi!
Monchichi's were those cute monkeys in the 80's that sucked on their thumbs and had a cute song "Monchichi, Monchichi, oh so soft and cuddly. Put the thumb in it's mouth is really neat, nice to wiggle their little feet. La, lala,la lala happy happy monchichi" or something like that. I just use to be really into monkeys and they were so cute.
I call Taylor my Monchichi too.

Hi Everyone!!
Oh, here I sit again watching the snow fall fast and furiously!! Yet another snow day!!! My spring break is now incredibly short and I am sure to hear the lecture about taking time off from work for a "simple vacation". Oh my!! Looks like I'll have to take the days off without pay!! But I DON'T CARE:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc because I'll be sitting on a lounge chair, drinking a margarita and reading a good book!!
Anyone else getting this storm?
I'm ordering a basket for Matthew today. Poor Matthew, his cat had to be put to sleep on Wednesday. She had cancer. She was only 5 years old. Her name was Sazou (Lion King)and she was the sweetest cat ever. I was up all night crying. My heart hurts, not only for the loss of her but for the ache I see in my Matthew's eyes. My poor boy, been through so much for only being 10.
I think I'll start getting together our things today as I am stuck inside. Maybe if I see summer clothes it will feel warmer??
Wishing you all a great Friday!
I have my green bag and green pass holder!!!

Hi all,

Yet another great day for packing...more snow and no school! We have not had our spring break interupted.....but we have been told that if there is another it will.

Audrey.....My Emilie is shy at first but somewhat of a power house once you get her going! She needs to have the "ice broken" if you know what I mean. She has aked if your daughter speaks "english" and if she will be wearing plaid?? I am sorry but she needs to be educated about the world around her and the people in it. Exactly why we are venturing off to Europe this summer.

We will be going to Sussex, then Leicesthire(Barnsdale Country Club) then ending in London. We are going to fly into Gatwick although I did not book it yet. I used to work for an Airline (People Express) and flew into Gatwick weekly....so I know it best.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing that glorious SUN:sunny:

Kate and I wondering what monchichi meant. Thanks. He's a cutie.
My dh had to explain why he chose boatniks for our screen name.

Kate emailed the girls last evening, however, the email to Taylor was kicked back. I'll try again this morning.

I was checking out the scrapbooking section of the disboards last evening and found a great place to buy Disney paper, borders and alphabets. I haven't done much scrapping yet, but I want to start with this year's cruise album.

Hi Pocono, Gina received Kates email and picture, she is very cute! She will probably email her Sunday evening, she is sleeping over her grandparents house so my DH and I can finish up the cruise shopping.

UMTerp, that basket sounds cool. I got the disney towel, sunglasses, candy bars, chips (and the like), soda, juice boxes and I also sent it from Mickey and Minnie. She sure puts alot o stuff in those baskets No? Did you ever have the folks on this board send your kids the postcard? It is so great, Gina loved it!

Matthewsmom, so sorry to hear about your cat. Hopefully the fun Matthew will have on the cruise will take his mind off that a little. Hopefully you can kick back a little too, you certainly need it.

Monchichi, what can I say? I'll catch you on line later. Gina wants to call Tayor tomorrow night too. I'll let her try if its not too late.

Trekker, please let me know about the meet, is it scuttles (where is that?) or scoops?

Eyoraud & dcbrown, look forward to meeting you as well.

Last night I was tossing and turning all night. Everytime I woke up I realized I was dreaming about the cruise. I have to lighten up a little, I want everything to be so perfect and organized. I'm going to need a couple of drinks with you all so that I can just kick back and relax.

Hopefully yesterday was the last of the snow for us, I JUST CAN NOT TAKE ANY MORE OF THE STUFF.

Again, look forward to meeting ALL of you in person.

Hi guys!!
This weekend just dragged!! I hope this week at work goes quickly. We have to make up the testing we missed on Friday from the snow.
I packed somewhat. Just seem to have this list of things still to get? Trying to find bug spray, small lysol. Also, still trying to figure out what we are going to do when we get off the ship. I'm thinking about Wet n' Wild. Not sure how far it is from the hotel.
Any suggestions?
I think I need to shop some more...
I also need 2 good books. Any ideas on a good mystery for reading?
Hope you all feel better. Better get that finger check Monchichi, I read a post where they didn't let somebody on the boat because of an infection!!

Try Wendy Corsi Staub's "She Loves Me Not" or "In the Blink of and Eye". Wendy has been compared to Mary Higgins Clark. The books take place in upstate New York and Long Island. I've read both books and couldn't put them down.

Good Luck with the testing. Our school is changing the standardized tests they use and won't be testing the kids this year.

Monchichi,
I sent the email again and it should work this time. I swore we weren't going to go crazy shopping, but we spent several hours at Rockaway Town Square today and I still have to get dressy shoes for Kate and me. We're still looking for coordinating tropical attire.
