Hi All-
I had read on another board awhile back that Disney doesn't allow you to have a fire at your site because of the severe drought. Is this true? My sister and family are planning a trip down next April and just thought I'd ask.
Thanks in advance!

No campfires are allowed. I believe this extends to all campgrounds in FL. At least, that's what we were told in the panhandle area in April by park rangers. I had a small one with a few pinecones for s'mores in October in the grill. Boy, did those things burn fast. Really scary!

But, it's not because of the drought. FW has never allowed campfires. They have a charcoal grill - but that's all. I have seen people use those portable campfirefire holder things, but I don't know if they're "legal" or not.

The only real campfire allowed is the big one they make for the campfire program! :D

I know when we were there last October there was someone in our loop with a portable fire pit. Needless to say when the campground cm's saw it it was put out. There are no fires allowed.

Since the very begining of FW, campfires have never been allowed. Charcoal in their grill only, or if you have your own portable propane gas grill that is OK too. This has always been the case. Besides the danger of fire, it is for the comfort of the other guests in the campground. this is spelled out in their pamphlets and other material at check in, and I believe it is also written on the map of the FW area that they give you too.

I personally like this policy, if you want a campfire, go to the Meadows area at night, and enjoy the one they provide for you.
