does milk really stay cold in the styrofoam / or soft side cooler if we add ice in morning and evening? I'm trying to think of ways to save money on breakfasts but we are all milk drinkers/cereal eaters. We plan on the grocery stop with TTC, but our check-in is at least 4 hours away from arrival....what do you do with refrig. items...milk....for your trips? Anyone tried Parmalat?

Hi Dawna,

Me again!

We bought a cheap styrofoam cooler from Walmart and kept it in our room for milk, butter, drink and beer!

We filled it up each morning when we got up and last thing at night before we went to bed.

We had no problem at all with keeping things cool and the resorts don't appear to frown upon thier use.

On two different trips we have used a soft sided and regular cooler. Both worked fine. The softsided is a little messier because you can't dump the water as easily, but they definately kept the milk, yogurt, jelly, etc nice and cold. Colder than the fridge, actually!

We travel by car and go to WDW quite often. We invested in an electric cooler in late 1999. It is about the size of one of those mini-fridges and it works great! At $10 a night fridge rental, it has payed for itself many, many times over. They cost about $80, and can plug into the wall or the car.

Our soft sided cooler worked well. It kept everything incl. milk, and lunchmeat nice and cold.

We also, used our extra trashcan in the room, as a huge ice bucket to keep, pop, and bottled water cold. I lined it with a clean garbage bag brought from home. We may have looked a little strange, but it was nice to have cold pop, and water when we took our afternoon breaks.

Hi, we used a soft sided cooler. Once we got to our resort, we took the cooler from our luggage, and grabbed the milk (we also used TTC and their grocery stop). then we proceeded to find the ice machine at the resort. We filled up the cooler and kept the milk cold. Ours had a strap, so it was easy to carry around waiting for our room, heavy, but easy. Hope this helps.

These are great ideas to save on money for the fridge! Think I'll be finding some type of soft side cooler next time we go.

just to be on the safe side I would buy the milk boxes (same size as a juice box). They will last a lot longer. We also bought an electric cooler and use it now when ever we travel. I buy our milk and juice before we leave home and freeze them just to make sure everything is nice and cold in the cooler. At HRH we did early check in and they plugged it in for us. I believe many have had WDW resorts do the same.
