minniesota - You could always rent the snorkling equipment at CC when you get there or before. That way you can go in and out of the water as you see fit. I'm sure the snorkling on CC will be just as beautiful as anywhere else.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Minniesota,

We have snorkled twice at Castaway Cay. The first time was in August. My then DD8 and I did not get out of the water almost the whole day, we had a wonderful time and it was guarded. They have a "treasure hunt" where you look for Mickey while you are snorkling. We saw all types of beautiful fish and I felt safe as there were sandbars that you can rest on. The second time we went was last Janurary. Of course, last year was very cold everywhere and it was cold at Castaway Cay as well. We were warm enough on the land...but it was cold snorkling...so we did not do it very much. We are hoping for warmer this year. We plan to snorkle at St. Thomas....we hope that will be warm.

My DMIL is still not good...no one is sure what will happen.

I fell last week at a customer site and had to go to the Hospital by ambulence...HOW EMBARASSING!! I broke my foot in four places. I should be all well by the cruise.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone

Lisa -Thanks for the info on Castaway Cay. Let's hope for some warm weather. Where do you plan to snorkel on St. Thomas? Are you doing an excursion? Do you rent your snorkle gear or bring from home? Our Atlantis sub excursion is over by 11:15 so thought we might try to find a snorkel place on our own.

Sorry to hear about your foot! I suppose that hinders holiday shopping a bit. Hope you heal fast!

And I still need shorts for Allie!!! Yikes. Any ideas?

Thanks.

No excursion forms for me either:confused: .

I went on the DCL site looked at the offerings, then asked one of our fellow cruisers for the tour numbers. You can print out the form that they want you to fill in, on the DCL site. They also give an e-mail link, but when i choose that route, it sent the mail back to me:confused:

Now a quick question?

If you place two excursions as a first choice should they not book both? In St. Thomas I chose both the Island tour and the Paradise Point Tramway as first choices, one is a timed event ans the other is a go when ever you want to. But DCL only confirmed the tour. Can I do both through Disney, or will I have to get the PPT on my own now?

Just discovered this thread. Delighted to see that we won't be alone on the Jan 24 Magic cruise. We've got a group of 34 going with us, all adults. Our group, known as the Track II Travelers, takes a cruise every winter to get away from this cold and snow ( 5 inches fell yesterday), but this is our first time on Disney.

I didn't know that you could book excursions before boarding, but we'll definitely look into it.

Hope to see you all onboard!

It seems that some of us did not receive the excursion info from whomever, me included, but I just used the DCL Website for the info and took it from there. If I'm not mistaken, last year for the Wonder Cruise I received my excursion info with my docs! Go Figure!

track2traveller - DCL takes reservations for excursions 60 days out. If you know what you want to do and don't want to be dissapointed best to book beforehand. PS - keep that white stuff on your side please!LOL

Pjpoohbear - I find it best to directly to talk to them that way you know what you are truely getting. You don't want to be paying for something you don't want.

Disneylover5 - Hope your foot is doing better. Prayers still for your MIL.

Mariamard - Seems you have cruisin' on your mind! Pixie dust that all goes well!

Just think, right after Christmas we can all pull out those suitcases and start to really pack!

Hi everyone!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

I never received anything from Disney about the excursions. I just called the number my TA gave me. I just needed my confirmation number and the number of the excursions (available on the DCL site). I didn't know i was supposed to get excursion documents! :D

Track2Traveler - That sounds like fun! Where are your cabins?

MariaMard - Hope you recovered from your Turkey Day!! Sounds like you need another long weekend. Hope your little one is feeling better.

I'm nursing a cold myself. I hope it isn't really the flu (that's been going around my office.) Drinking a lot of tea and trying to save my throat by not talking. Thus, a lot of typing.

See you later!

Queen Trident - i was going through the guest bedroom closet this weekend and noticed my DD5's dresses from formal night on our last two cruises. It started me wondering what size your DD was. Gracie wore each of them once and they have never seen the light of day again. Let me know what size your DD is, and if you would like I can bring the dress with me, or mail it to you so you can try it on her, if you wanted to do formal night. I would be more than happy to let her use it, since they are just sitting in the closet and I know Gracie won't get any smaller.

Also, drink lots of tea, you don't want to get sick for the holidays.

mariamard - hope you have dried out from you holiday.

Dancer - Thanks so much for the offer, but DD is not the one I need to worry about. Being the only grandchild on both sides of the family, the kid has more clothes than she can wear. My mother is a huge eBay shopper and has already replaced the wardrobe she lost and has wardrobes for her until she's 6. She also has two closetfuls of shoes. (Okay, slight exaggeration, but Emily does have more clothes and shoes than DH and I combined). It's a great thing my Mom does (and has taken a huge load off of us), but it's also embarassing. Emily would be fine wearing her favorite jeans and Tinkerbell sweatshire every day. DH and I are wearing ratty hand-me-downs, but dd is walking around in Tommy Hilfiger jeans. Go figure.

Thanks again, though.

Queen Trident - Believe me I know about the kids having bulging closets. Both of mine do and I question buing things for myself, and won't buy unless it's on sale. Speaking of ebay, a friend of mine got a great emerald green long dress for her cuise in March fo $6.00. I think I need to start looking on ebay!!!

about what we are all wearing. I have not booked our
excursions yet. We are in room 2130 any one near us?

dancermom
12-01-2003, 11:39 AM
tinkerball4 - you will see just about everything from long dresses, to princess dresses, sundresses, etc. I'm thinking that it will be similar to when we went over Thanksgiving and you will see a lot of Christmas dresses. My girls will be wearing long dresses for formal night and their Christmas dresses for semi formal. I will be wearing something long for formal and shorter for semi formal. DH will be in a suit for both nights.

We are in 8080, but I believe there are other people on Deck 2. check a few pages back in the thread, buzzboymom has a chart.

Don't get stressed, you still have plenty of time. Remeber this is vacation!!!!! Also, ask any questions you have, I'm sure someone on the boards has the answer.

My prayers will be with you. My DMIL did the exact thing as your grandma...DNR and stroke and all. No one expected her to live more than a day or two and we are now 1 month into this.

I will pray for God's Will for your Grandma. We often do not understand why or what (I often am sad that DMIL is suffering like this, I feel sad that sometimes I think she would be better off if she had passed)...we just need to believe that it is all part of his plan and someday all will be clear.

We are trying to plan our excursions and were wondering what anybody has booked.
Do you pay at the time of booking?
Can we cancel and get our money back if we decide we want to do something else after we board?
What if it is bad weather and we just do not want to go?

Any input would be great,
Thanks,

Hi Lisa

I can answer at least one of your questions. When you make these resv's for the excursions you are not charged at the time for them. I think they have a 48 hr cancelation policy.

minniesota
12-03-2003, 09:03 PM
Lisa-
We booked the dolphin excursion, the Atlantis submarine ride and parasailing. You can cancel 2 days prior to sailing. The cruise is a surprise for the kids for Christmas, so once they know about it, they may have some input as to what we do. Just thought we'd reserve a couple of things. I'd really like to try a snorkeling excursion but we decided to ask the kids what they think
since they've never snorkeled in the ocean. Good luck with your decisions!

DBMagic
12-04-2003, 08:41 AM
We're also doing the Dolphin excursion and parasailing. We'll probably rent snorkling equipment on CC and do that at our leisure. I believe they charge your room account for the excursion. That way if they cancel the excursion due to weather, they never charge your room. I imagine that's a lot easier that processing refunds.

We are doing the: Under 2 Flags Island Tour, St Thomas Island Tour (8:15am) and the Atlantis Submarine Tour (12:50pm), and the glassbottom boat. Want to do the parasailing but we will schedule that when we get there depending on how our money is going at that time.

THERE WERE A FEW EXCURSIONS THAT WE ARE INTERESTED IN....BUT HUBBY STILL DOES NOT WANT TO BOOK UNTIL WE BOARD:rolleyes: , SO WE PROBOBLY WONT GET WHAT WE WANT.....CURIOUS, WHEN WILL WE GET OUR DOCS? MY NEIGHBOR GOT THERE DOCS ALMOST 4 1/2 WEEKS PRIOR TO SAILING. IS THAT NORMAL??

disneylover5
12-04-2003, 10:56 AM
We cruised the Wonder same time last year and our DOCS came about the 10th of Dec......

I called Disney yesterday because we want to wrap the Docs and put them under the tree for our kids. They said right now they are running about 5 1/2 weeks before the sailing. If you call and they tell you something different...I would like to know that. If the DOCS do not come in time for the 25th...I will go to the Disney store and buy a Tee-Shirt or something to wrap.....

DMIL had a very bad day yesterday and the Doctors put her in a medical Coma for now. My foot still hurts but on Friday I can start walking without crutches.

Our High School Team (Westfield) is in the semi-final game for the VA state championship Saturday and I really want to go to the game. It is only an hour away...but now they are calling for 6" of snow( I know.... that is a 4 letter word) on Saturday in DC. Anybody else have snow in their forecast?

dancermom
12-04-2003, 11:16 AM
disneylover5 - we too have snow in the forecast. 3 inches on Friday and 6-9 on Saturday. We are also having highs in the teens. How long until January. We are leaving for a dance competition this afternoon and will be in the Poconos for the weekend, so since I have to be in the same place all weekend I'm ok with the snow.

Also, since I will have the suitcases out anyway, I might as well leave them out and start putting in the things I've bought so far.

Our continued prayers are with your family. I'll have to get your e-mail so Sarah can e-mail Annie over the holiday and catch her up on any plans her and Desiree (DBMagics's DD) have make for the trip. Have a great weekend everyone

mariamard - we didn't book excursions until we boarded on our first trip and didn't have a problem - we did the butterfly farm in St Martin and Coral World in St Thomas.

Hi Everyone! Remember me?!!!

It seems like years since I've been able to get out here. Work is crazy and December always seems so busy no matter how "ahead of the game" I think I may be.

I always assumed that I'd spend more time on the boards the closer I got to cruise date, but it seems to be the opposite.

I'll be off the boards next week. My father is having surgery to remove cancer that has spread too far! That cancer is just terrible - one of those things in life that I'll never understand. And when you see a loved one suffer with it, it is awful. So, I'm going to Florida to see what help I can be for him and my DM.

And yes, Lisa and Dancermom, we too are supposed to get snow. If it snows too bad, they will be rescheduling my DSs first school play ever - and if they reschedule to next week, I'll be in Florida and miss their big performance. I could just cry right now!!!!

If anyone has some spare pixie dust, sprinkle some over my way.

Everyone take care!!!! I'll miss the updates!

BuzzBoyMom - You and your family are in my prayers. And I'm sending lots of pixie dust your way, hoping you DS' play doesn't get rescheduled. If it does, can someone tape it for you? Not the same, I know, but at least you'll get to see it one way or another.

Lisa - I've been praying for you DMIL, as well.

My grandmother is the same as she was earlier this week. Still in a coma, with no feeding tubes or anything, but she's still hanging on.

I can't wait for the cruise. I think we all need a little :sunny: January 23rd (when we're leaving) can't come soon enough. The forecast for Jersey is 3 - 5 inches of snow this weekend (at least it was this morning). Ugh and ick!

What is Coral World? Can a 3-year old have fun there? Last May, she kind of liked Sea World, but didn't really want to get too close to anything. Of course, that was before she saw Nemo and now wants to be a SCUBA Diver when she grows up so she can have Nemo for herself. (Somehow, I think she missed the point of the movie!)

See you later,

disneylover5
12-04-2003, 12:31 PM
Queen Trident,

I hope your grandmother is peaceful. I am surprised that they do not have her on a feeding tube of some type. They told us as long as my DMIL is in a hospital in VA they must feed her somehow. They have used two different ways and right now one of the big problems is the infection in the feeding tube. If she was to go to hospice...then I think there does not have to be a feeding tube.

It is all too sad. I feel for your mom and dad....are they with her? I will really pray for them....is it your mom's mom or your dad's mom? My husband has been by his mom's side all month. We have kinda forgotten what he looks like.

dancermom
12-04-2003, 12:31 PM
Jenn -
Coral World is cute. They have an area you can observe shark feeding, and all types of marine life you can see. They also have a small area you can touch star fish and some other sea life. I don't remeber all of the particulars, but that is the general idea. Gracie then 3 enjoyed it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Jamie

QueenTrident
12-04-2003, 01:52 PM
Lisa - My Mom has been there all week, as well (my grandmother is my Mom's mom). I was shocked about the lack of feeding tube - and have had a very hard time accepting it. But, it was in my grandmother's living will/directive. She went through something like this 12 years ago and after that, she didn't want to go through it again. I feel the worst for my grandfather. He just seems so alone now. He beat cancer three or four times, open heart surgery twice, had his colon removed and now he's just lost. It is so, so sad. As cold as it seems, we're essentially just waiting for the call about my grandmother. All the funeral arrangements have been made and she's been given her last rites. If you want to PM me to talk about your DMIL or anything, please do. I hate to bring the board down.

Jamie - Thanks for the info. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Is anyone else doing Coral World in the a.m.? DH is diving and I'm worried about taking DD ashore myself. But, I do think she'd love it. If I "knew" someone else going, that would be great!

mariamard - I don't know of any limit on the ship. I think the limit comes into play with the airlines limiting you to 2 checked bags per person. I don't think it matters to the cruise line, it's just a matter of fitting it in the room.

pjpoohbear
12-09-2003, 04:24 PM
Dancermom/ Mariamard:

Disney send just two tags per person for luggage id. And somewhere they do state that the checked limit is two bags per person.

We are flying out of Buffalo and we have a three bag limit on Jetblue, but we can only have two bags checked with DCL.

And any bags that do not fit through the scanner at the port need to be check, I believe. The port scanner is similar in size to the ones located at most airports.

All information I have read seems to follow this. The carry on limit is not stated anywhere, but no items on wheels, like trolleys or wheeled coolers.

Hello 1/24 cruisers,

This will be the first cruise for myself 44, DW 38, DD 10, and DD 6.
I have never joined a forum before but this is such a good resource for information and Jan 24th is getting close and it just snowed 8 inches here in MN and I'm getting excited about going even though the cruise was my wife's idea, so I needed to join.

Fellow cruisers-
Have you or are you requesting your own table for dining? DH is not sure he wants to sit with "strangers" for dinner. It's not that he's anti-social, he is just really looking forward to family time at dinner. Well, in No VA (DC) we had about 10" of snow last weekend and now they are calling for more this Sunday. We do NOT know how to drive in this and 2 flakes fall and they cancel school......I know those of you from the North really laugh at us seeing we are so stupid with the snow

David - welcome to the boards. If your DD knows about the trip e-mail me and I will get her hooked in with the girls that are already e-mailing each other.

Lisa - I feel your snow pain. Our schools closed on Friday before the snow even started. They let school out at 11:00 and the snow didn't start until after 2:00. I think at least a few flakes should fall before they let them go home. We are also hearing about snow on Sunday. Of course it's pouring today with gusting winds.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm having the Christmas is two weeks away and I'm not ready panic setting in.

Also, prayers and pixie dust to all of those with ill family members.

Is it January yet????

Hi all. Sorry I haven't been around. I've lurked a bit, but haven't had much to post. My grandmother passed away on Saturday and we completed the funeral ceremonies yesterday. I'm okay. She's no longer suffering and in a much better place. Thanks for all your prayers and pixie dust. I appreciated it.

Just wanted to say a quick Welcome to David! Look forward to getting to know you better.

Also, hope everyone dug out from the storm okay. Today is a beautiful blue day - you never would have known we got over a foot of snow less that a week ago. It's all gone!

Some good new on the home front. I think we will be able to move back home before Christmas. It's been a long road, but we're getting there.

Re: Sitting with strangers. I hope we get to sit with others - as long as they are patient people. I'm not super-social, but like getting to know other people, especially in a relaxing setting.

Talk to you later,

Jenn, So sorry to hear about your grandmother. My thoughts

ahead.

I was also wondering about the seating arrangements. I'm
not the most outgoing person either, but we are looking forward
to meeting lots of new people. I'm sure everything will be
fine.

Snow is gone here too. We had a lot of rain and now a flood

Take care everyone. I can't wait to meet you all!

I also have two DD's that are 6 and 10. My DD(10), Desiree, has been e-mailing with DancerMom's DD, Sarah, and they are getting very excited. Like DancerMom said, send us an email if your DD already knows about the cruise and she can join in. There's a list out there of all us DISer's and where we're satying, etc.

Thanks for all the welcomes, my daughter is looking forward to E-mailing the other kids.

Jenn, I'm very sorry about your grandmother.

We were planning on renting a car in St. Martin. From what I've read there are companies at the port to rent from. Usually I like to reserve a car, but the web pages I've found for St. Martin rentals aren't very good(Thrifty was good but they didn't have a port location). My only worry is that there might be a long line or worse that they run out of cars. Has any one rented a car there before?... What can we expect as far as a wait?

Thanks

How are the docs delivered? Our cruise is also a surprise so do I need to be concerned about the kids answering the door or do they come in the mail? Are there any 11-13 girls e-mailing each other? Was hoping I could get my DD-12 connected. How about boys? Any 9-11 year olds out there for DS-10?
We're still trying to decide about dinner seating. DH is waffling - he loves the idea of our family just hanging out at dinner. It's the one time we all really get a chance to talk/connect. But he's also wondering if maybe it would be fun for the kids to meet new people at dinner. Do they try to put you with families of similar age kids?
I'm getting really excited. DH kind of slipped this morning. He mentioned that the Hawaiian shirt I bought him was a bit snug but if he only had to wear it for one dinner, it would be okay. My DD gave him a really strange look! My SIL has an 8 X 10 photo of the ship so I;m going to make a puzzle from it and have the kids put it together Chritsmas eve. I also have a box for each of them with flip flops, shorts, sunscreen, etc. And they are both getting a mask and snorkle. Should be a fun Christmas.

Docs are your Documents! These are the magical paperwork that allows you to board the Ship!

:jumping1:

Last year they come in a cute little box and looks like a whole lot of tickets in a booklet!

If you did not book your air travel with Disney, then you will receive your documents soon! If you did book your air, then you will have to wait until January!

It is best that you fill out all your documents before you leave then it is less hassle when you get to port!

Jenn, once again, our condolences and prayers... Lisa, the same for your MIL. January may not erase your burden, but hopefully a week at sea will give you some mental relief and let you refresh.

To all the rest: DW will be doing the Dolphin Encounter (it's a b-day surprise). I will not, as DS would probably be too young for the observation program (plus, for $125, it's not worth it to watch!!). Since I'll be spending the day with him, I was hoping to get some names of who is doing the Dolphin encounter, so that DW can help put some names with faces (after the DISmeet).

We're not a family group, we're actually a group of group tour leaders. Since most of us have not sailed on Disney before, they are giving us a bargain rate in hopes that we will take our respective groups on a Disney cruise in the future. Our group, the Track II Travelers, have booked Caribbean cruises for the last 4 years, but not on Disney. For a change of pace in 2004, we are doing an Alaska cruise in August. We are primarily country/western dancers and use one of the ship's lounges for dancing on sea days. I know that the Disney Magic is really a family experience but maybe it will work out for our group as well - we'll see.

My father-in-law and his wife are "retired" line-dance instructors from the Hudson Valley! When they were actively teaching, they also brokered/led several cruises (NCL, RCL, Carnival) for their students and always did the same thing -- dancing in the lounges, etc.

The first (and until now, only) cruise that DW and I were on was a 1998 cruise to Bermuda with them and their group! What a blast! I'll have to keep an ear out for your music and take a peek!

Our group is 34 strong, but we are not all line dancers - only 5 or 6. We are group tour leaders and we are scouting Disney to see if it would be appropriate to book them for a line dancing group in the future. The Alaska cruise in August is our primary line dancing cruise this year. We hope to do some dancing on the Magic, but there will be just a few of us this time. We have led groups of 25-30 dancers on Costa and Carnival ships the past few years and have had a great time. In know you guys probably forgot about us-sorry for not being around!

We also used DVC points, paid for a Cat 11 and got upgraded to a Cat 7! Our friends paid cash for a Cat 11 and got upgraded to a Cat 7 also. We are right beside each other!

Scott and I still do not have documents but our friends do. Oh well as long as they are here by January 22th.

DBMagic and dan and scott, congrats on your upgrades! How exciting. Just a little more magic to the magical cruise!

I still haven't gotten my docs. They were mailed from PA to NJ on Wednesday morning. I expected them today. I'll be down at the house tomorrow, so maybe I'll get them then.

Penny - We still need to do a few things (like hook up appliances and finish the flooring), but we'll spend Christmas Eve at the house, then go to my parents for Christmas Day. On the 26th, my in-laws are coming down, so it'll be the the first party in the not-so-new, but definitely improved house. I still need to replace things like our microwave and curtains, but it's liveable. We have our temporary housing until New Year's Eve, so we'll be making trips over the next 12 days to get the things we've accumulated over the last 6 months back to our house.

Adrienne - I'm neighbors (practically) with your friends!

Thanks again to everyone for their prayers and pixie dust. I do believe in both!

Oh, DH keeps making fun of me and my obsession with these boards. He swears he's getting me a lime green running suit for Christmas.

Have a great weekend! Hope those upgrades keep on coming!

Hi gang! Our docs were rec'd by our TA and forwarded on Monday. We got them yesterday! Wooo-Hooo! Not upgraded, but that actually works to our advantage. DW is mildly concerned about seasickness, so we intentially booked mid-ship, lower decks.

Dan and Scott - Welcome Back! I was wondering where you went!!

Craig - Connor dictated emails to Makenna. He was thrilled to get his own e-mail.

Mariamard (or anyone else with younger kids) = our DS (Connor) is 4. Our email address is theglensidegregorys@netzero.com. Feel free to email! He thinks it's great.

Hi guys! You haven't heard much from me because I've been holding my breath! Still no docs and the kids keep wondering why there aren't many presents under the tree. Since the cruise is their present, or at least the major one, I only have a few things wrapped. I was hoping to wrap the docs up along with the video, brochure and a puzzle of the ship. I'm also including a box for each with some beach clothes, flip flops, sunscreen, and a snorkle/mask set. It's all going into a giant Mickey Christmas bag. My plan was to wrap each thing individually and make it kind of a mystery game. Of course when they see the Mickey bag, they will think we're gong to WDW. I hope they'll be surprised. ANyway, hope our docs come before the 24th. We used All Seasons Travel. Anyone else use them and received your docs ?

Thanks for the e-mail addresses of the 10 - 13 year old girls. I hope Allie will be inspired to correspond after Christmas. Still no 10 year old boys? Gotta go get the Christmas cards written. Doesn't it seem like Christmas is coming really early this year? Yikes!

Gracie can't wait to e-mail but unfortunately she needs mom to type while she dictates. Let's say the minor surgery was a little more then I bargained for, but at least I can hold my head up today. I get the packing out of my nose this afternoon and have been promised I will feel better when I can breath.

Hey everyone. I can't tell you how nice it is when I log on the boards and see good news - Congrats to all of you who got upgrades. I'm just anxious to get our docs. Booking through AAA, my agent told us that we probably won't see them till 2 weeks before. The waiting is killing me!!!

It is so hard to believe that we're almost here...I can remember when we were still in the 100s...

All Ye Radisson Folks - are we still on for a poolside meet on Friday?

Is it still Kevin and Family (TheGlensideGregorys), Suecot2000, DB Magic and Tinkerbell4 and us at the Radisson?

Hope everyone has a great day!!

We'll definately be out there. Our family and the Gregorys will be getting in to FL around lunch time. I'm sure we'll be driving around a little, but then we'll be starting our vacation with some R&R...getting in the right mind set for the cruise of course. Look for the rowdy bunch with 2 boys. Kevin and Melissa also have a son the same age as our youngest so...put 3 boys in the pool and I'm sure you'll be able to pick us out.

We'll try to have some "refreshments" for everyone. Do stop by!!

We're going to be there too! We land at MCO at 5:30, so we'll probably get to the hotel around 7:30, as well. Have you all booked your shuttle yet?

Got my docs. No upgrade, but wasn't expecting one since we upgraded before and were very specific about our cabin number. I'm a little confused as what to fill out. Do I have to fill out the Credit Card form for each of us? Of course, DD can't sign any of her forms, so do I sign them? Also, when do we put the tags on the luggage? When we leave the Raddison? Sorry, I'm just a little slow on these things.

Talk to you later! :sunny:

We booked the shuttle - I called on Friday, and got us set for the 10:30 a.m. Very nice folks there, and eager to help. Somebody else posted the number a few pages back.

I know I'm looking forward to a relaxing pre-cruise day. We may do something for an hour or two in the afternoon - Ron Jon's, the port area, or maybe the manatee area... but most of the day will be relaxing around the pool (hope it warms up in a few weeks... FL's been looking a bit cool lately! BUT at 60 or so, it's still warmer than PA has been lately!!).

Nesnboy from Boston said she got an upgrade from a cat 6 to a cat 4. I've invited her to come over here and introduce herself....hopefully we'll see her soon!

Merry Christmas to fellow 1/24 cruisers!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I found out I won't have docs to wrap, but I finished the puzzle of the Magic today and will get that wrapped up along with the Travel Channel video of DCL. I'm so excited to see the looks on my kids' faces! We decided to let them open their surprise on Christmas Eve (not letting Santa take credit for this one!) So by this time tomorrow night, we'll just be sitting down to dinner. And then we'll open "mom and dad" gifts! My heart is bursting!

I know from reading these boards, there is a lot of joy and sadness among our community at this holiday season. To those of you experiencing joy, may it multiply tenfold in 2004. And to those who bear the hardship of sorrow, may your troubles ease and may you find comfort in the New Year. God bless us all...

The secret is out! The kids opened the package with the puzzle pieces and Allie picks up the first piece and shrieks, "We're going on a cruise!" and David, not to be outsmarted, yells,"the Disney cruise!" I made them put the whole puzzle together anyway! They are so excited - we watched the Travel Channel video I had taped and I think they've watched it 3 more times.

Allie's e-mail is allie91912@yahoo.com and David's is cheezit64@yahoo.com

Hope that everyone celebrating had a happy and healthy Christmas! We sure did. It's great being back in our house (though a little weird, since every thing is new. It's all a bit "off"). But, DD had a great Christmas. Our family and friends are so generous - you'd think Santa stopped by 3 or 4 times to our house. Don't know where I'm going to put all the Disney Princess stuff. ;) She received a few Princess dress-up things that might be cute for her to wear on the cruise. I had bought the Disney Cruise beanie babies off of Ebay, but decided to wait to give it to her. She was too overwhelmed as it was. I'll wait until a week or so before the cruise, so she can really start getting excited.

Minnie - Your kids sure are smart! They guessed on the first piece?!? That's great!

Maria - Your kids must be so excited as well. I think if we do the trip again in a few years, we will wait to tell DD, so it can be a surprise. She was too young to do that this year.

Karen, Lisa and anyone else with family/health issues: I hope your holidays are a little brighter and happier than the last few months. In less than 30 days, we can all get together and hopefully say bon voyage to the past while toasting to a better future. :D

Talk to you all soon,

Let's get this party started...

Unfortunately, I haven't been at any holiday parties. I'VE BEEN GIVING ALL OF THEM!!! Somehow I ended up hosting six parties in 10 days! Today is # 5 and then I have NYE. So you may hear some lung-clearing on Jan. 1. Actually, it has been a lot of fun. I really love to cook and my wonderful DH is the best at cleaning up. After our guests leave, I drop into bed and - volia - the next morning, the house is restored to its pre-party condition. Both of us need this cruise for big-time relaxation.

Allie has been e-maling the other girls like mad - enjoying getting to know some of them. Now David wants to get in on it, too.

You mystic tan experts - I've been considering it so I've been reading that thread. I had skin cancer 2 years ago, so I am so so so careful and oh so very white! I've done the sunless lotion applications but am considering the mystic route. We'll see...

Anyone packing yet? Are you brining a soft=sided cooler? Anyone doing the gift basket in the stateroom deal? What time are people getting to the port? You can tell, I'm switching gears from party-giving to cruising!!!

I usually give all of the holiday parties too. This year was too hard with a sick DMIL (she is no better...I did go on Christmas Day and spend 2 hours giving her a manicure and pedicure...she would have liked the way it came out) and a broken foot (cast came off yesterday and the although I am limping badly the doctor says I will be able to dance just fine by Jan 24th!!:cool1:)

We are having New Years Eve...about 100....I am on my way to Costco to figure out what to serve...any ideas would be welcome! I am for sure have Chick Fila chicken Nugget Trays...they go so fast with all the kids.

In DC, we have 60 degrees and sunny. I feel like I am on the ship already (just kidding). It certainly could be a lot worse. We have had 2 snowstorms already this year......I would be just as happy if we had no more snow.

I saw at Penny's they had a lot of girls bathing suits on Christmas eve......we are going back soon!
Take care

I know the feeling of wanting to get the holidays behind you. I even took one of our Christmas trees down today so I can start getting the house back in order. I'm having a party tomorrow night, then I can get into full cruise mode. Lisa - 100 people, wow that's impressive. Also, I can turn the guest room bed into cruise central now that all of the gifts are off the bed.

I saw cruise wear at the mall today, and got even more excited. It's nice to see all of the e-mails and instant messages that are going back and forth between everyone. The girls are really excited that they will already know people at the clubs.

Hope everyone has a great remainder of the holiday season. The dr has assured my I won't look like I got in a really good bar fight by the 24th, so bring on the frozen drinks.

Okay, here is what I bought at Costco for NYE.

A filet tenderlion....about 7 lbs...I think I will cook it rare and serve it with different sauces and fresh rolls. Meatballs (someone told me a good recipe is barbeque sauce and welchs grape jelly anyone know that one???). Turkey breast. They had a package of 100 little hor derves (spelling??? ) that looked good. Creme puffs and chocolate eclairs. 5 pounds of shrimp (already cooked...less work

10 bottles of wine, 5 bottles of champange, (my husband is only charge of beer)...water, soda, sparkling cider for the kids. I need to figure out the bar.

We do this every year.....one year we had a "45 party". My son thought everybody had to bring a gun...but we only meant a 45 record...we played them all night long and it was so fun!!!

All right Annie wants to see who has e-mailed her...thanks to all the mom's who have let their kids e-mail my kids...they are having so much fun!

Okay - I admit it - I spent yesterday laying out all of our cruise clothes and boy did it feel GREAT!! I had the boys pick out the shirts they wanted to bring and I'm down to about 26 outfits or so....don't worrry....this is my system for big trips. I go through my clothes and layout "maybes" and "definatelys". Then as I get closer, I look through the "maybes" and keep whittling them down. A few days before, I'll coordinate to make sure I have enough. But I cannot tell you how good it was for the soul. I remember when I was counting down at the hundreds and now we leave in 25 days. WOW! I know this time will all fly.

Let's all stay healthy and no flu!!!! I putting my kids in quarantine to keep them healthy.

disneylover5 - WOW! Now that's a party! I hope you have great time - the food sounds great. I have done the BBQ sauce and grape jelly - it's delicious. Allie has had fun e-mailing the girls - helps to get them excited - as if they need that!

BuzzBoyMom - you are an inspiration. I think we still have some shopping to do before I can even think about packing! I'm thinking the Christmas trees come down today and tomorrow. The sooner I get this holiday season put away, the sooner I get packing!

Tinkerbell4 - Our DDs have certainly been busy on-line! Allie is really having fun getting to know Heather. Sounds like they have plans for the ship! Did you ever get your excursions figured out? Is there a wait list for the dolphin excursion? We are thinking of calling about a snorkeling trip at St. Thomas/St. John's. What time is Heather parasailing?

I took My DD shopping yesterday for a formal dress and came

Minniesota - Heather is having the best time getting to know
Allie too. As of now we are not able to do the dolphin excursion.
will keep trying everyday to get DD and DS on. DH and I are
booked for the observation. If we don't get on before the
cruise I will go wait in line at the excursion desk. I have friends
that did it that way and had no trouble booking the dolphin
excursion. Heather is not booked for the parasailing, but if she
wants to do it that's ok with me. Which one? We did book the glass bottom boat, but may cancel that one.

My DS is 14 and we are traveling with our best friends w/DS7, DS14, DS15....too many boys. I also have Annie (DD10) and Gretchen (DD7).

I am one who packs the morning we leave...never give it a second thought before then.....my kids want to start packing after the NYE party....they want me to change my ways...maybe I will...sounds like everybody on this board is having as much fun packing as they will on the cruise!

Maredith,
Allie is signed up for parasailing on Castaway Cay at 1:30. I had to sign up DH:D because she's 12. He will most likely just ride along in the boat, though you never know - he might get a little crazy! I'm going to e-mail you regarding the dolphin excursion. David -10 -is going to send Ryan an e-mail on Heather's address. He thinks there are no boys on this cruise!

disneylover5, if only your group's boys were younger! Allie will have to ask Annie about dance. She does tap, jazz, ballet and lyrical.

Can I take the Christmas stuff down now!!??

Well, we finally received our docs yesterday and they're already filled out. Is that considered complusive?

DBMagic - Compulsive, no way!!!! Our docs are filled out and filed with birth certificates, Hyatt hotel, rental car and Castaway Cay confirmation information. I don't think any of us are even excited about cruising lol.

Not sure if it is the cruise or lack of holiday spirits this year but I spent my morning taking down some of my decorations. Both trees are still up and our outside decorations are still going strong. I cant' decide if I want to push the time as fast as it can go to get the holidays over or get the cruise here. I'm spending tomorrow cleaning our house for our NYE party and after that it's gonna be shopping and packing. DH will be traveling for 2 of the 3 weeks before the cruise so I get to drive the kids crazy all by myself. Can anyone explain why my DSs keep looking at me, shaking their heads and rolling their eyes?

By the way, I think it is fabulous how all the young girls are writing emails before the cruise. We're all going to have such a great time!

Ours haven't arrived yet... I can't wait for them! I am starting to pack, tho... especially DS's items.

We decided to use a certificate for the Courtyard at Cocoa Beach and are renting a car to get there & back, especially since our flight back isn't until 5:00 p.m. This will give us a chance to do something fun... like go to the outlets!

Can you believe it's almost January???

No docs here either!

Hope we see them in the next week or so. I've been reading the main board on what to pack and what not to pack. Some good info there. I've also been looking at the navigators on Barb and Tony's site and trying to get an idea of what to expect. A few questions for you guys:

Do you have early or late seating?
What do you think your rotation will be? Or what do you hope for?
When's a good night for Palo? How about brunch?
Anyone doing spa treatments?
What about wine tasting?

Just thought I'd get the planning wheels turning! Can't wait for Jan. 24!

We have early seating.....I get really grumpy at about 8pm...so you have better already fed me.

Any rotation is just fine with us. On our other Disney cruises.....each night we thought we were heaven no matter what restraunt we we in...they are all wonderful!!

We want to do one night in Palo ... we need to figure this out...which is formal night and semi-formal night.....or do we not find out until we are already on the ship?

I was thinking of changing my cabin # from 2528 to SPA...and just stay there the entire trip...anyone with me???? I will sign up for anything that is available .... maybe twice. I want to do that week long one where you can sit and relax and go in the steam rooms ....what is that called?

No wine tasting for us....well maybe thatr would be "educational"...but we will do a wine package at dinner....I need to figure that out as well if anyone has any advise.

Went shopping with the girs yesterday and spent way to much on cruise clothes...fun though....

But I did talk with my TA and she is gonna find out where they are. I told her as long as I get them "BEFORE" I leave!LOL

We are early sitting plus we are with Minybear and her DH.

Formal Night is Sunday Night, otherwise there would be no way I would get my DD all dressed up for her birthday! Tropical night is when we are in St. Marten and I believe Thursday is Semi-Formal.

Lisa, isn't that the Rainforest where you can just go in and relax?

No spa stuff for me but maybe the wine tasting! Brunch and High Tea are during Sea Days so depending on what is available. Don't forget that by the time we sail that Palo will have raised their price to $10.00 per person.

We are at the early seating also.

No wine tasting or Spa, we're just going to wing it on the ship. I've been thinking about the wine package at dinner but I'm really the only one that drinks it. Maybe if we have tablemates, I'll suggesst it.

No wine package for us. My DH would rather drink coffee (even at the beach:(). I would rather have a soda. We are considering purchasing a soda/water package that we saw somewhere I think we saw it on the Navagator for a low price.

QueenTrident

...but we're on the wait list for early. I'm torn about this. If I do the late seating, then at least I know DD will be awake for the shows, but I'm afraid she'll be a nightmare for dinner. And, while DH and I usually eat late, DD eats around 6:30. So, we'll probably try to get into early seating once we board.

I plan on doing at least one massage. Just not sure which one. DH has an excursion on Tuesday morning, so I plan to schedule it then, while DD is in in the clubs. I may sign us up for a couples massage, but I just don't know when.

We also plan to go to Palo one night and I would love to try high tea, though DH would hate it. Any want to join me?

I do care about our rotation, but want to know when the show at Animators Palate will be. Is it always your first time there? Or are there set days? I don't want to schedule Palo for that day.

It's getting closer...not quite January yet...but close.

TiggerPU88

Still no docs... time to checkwith All Seasons Travel!

We have early seating -- good for a 2-year-old! And given DS's age, I expect we'll start with Animators Palate. The show at AP is on the first night you are there.

Lisa, it is the Rainforest Room and the 1-week package is about $50. I plan on doing that... probably not too many other spa treatments, as I can get most of them at home and we will be busy with DS. We might do the wine tasting, though.

We are thinking of doing the butterfly farm tour. Anyone else doing that?

I know we will be getting a photo package, though!

We'll be getting to the port at about 12:30... since they'll have started boarding, we figure we should be able to check in and walk on!

-- Adrienne : )

P.S. When & where is the DIS meet again? I seem to remember that it is on Sunday.

dancermom
12-31-2003, 11:20 AM
We are early seating as well. DH would be just too cranky to eat at the later seating.

I'm all about the wine tasting and would love it if I could hook up with someone to go to it with. DH is not a wine drinker so I will be ordering by the glass at dinner.

Lisa - I'm all about the unlimited rainforest pass. I would love to do a facial, but the Dr. said absolutely not, and I am to have zinc oxide on my nose whenever I am near the sun. Are they doing sunless tanning on board? Does anyone know if they are still doing the hair braiding on sea days???

We were able to make Palo ressies already, so we decided to do brunch on Monday. We are skipping dinner at Palo so we can eat with the girls for seven days, a luxury we never get at home. When I spoke with Debbie at Guest Services she let me pick our rotation, so I took the one we start at Animators Palate, since we did that on both of our previous cruises, so why change a good thing.

Have a great New Year everyone.

Jamie - Are you doing the romance package? :love2: Is that how you got to do your Palo reservations?

We will certainly be getting the photograph package. Does anyone know if the formal photographs are included in the package? I don't need 8x10s of those, but would like to update my wallet sized formal portrait from our honeymoon cruise (the last time DH and I ever were in a picture together).

I think pictures, the spa and souvenirs are going to be our big expenses. I was looking at the charges we incurred on that honeymoon cruise and boy were we boozehounds then. Of course, we were just 22 and 24. Now, we never drink, save for a virgin pina colada or two. Funny what a difference nearly a decade makes!

DD has been "saving" for "the big boat." Each night we give her our change (and occassionally) our loose bills to put in her Princess bank. The bank is now full. We did a quick count on Saturday and she has over $150 in there. :earseek: That's going to be her souvenir money. We asked her what she wanted to buy with the money and she said "another bank!" That's my girl.

dancermom
12-31-2003, 03:30 PM
Jenn - we are in a one bedroom suite, so one of the ammenities is that they let you book Palo early. I know how you feel about what a difference a decade (or more in my case) makes. Now I'm feeling it after one glass of wine.

I think the spa and pictures will definately be our biggest expenses.

Is anyone having gift baskets sent to their room? If so what kind are you doing and where do you get them from?

Also, what is the romance package? I've read about people having it on other boards, but don't know what it is.

Jamie

TiggerPU88

I am having a basket sent to my room for my DS -- it will have beach toys, coloring books, goldfish crackers, etc. Some of these I could just as easily pick up for him on our WalMart run. However, the joy on his face when he saw his Pal Mickey in the room at WDW was amazing and I want him to have that here. We are ordering this one from the Perfect Gift.

I'm also having a memory box put in the room for my Mom and am thinking about a small fruit basket. I know we can pick up fruit upstairs, but I thought it would be nice to have something to come in to. We would use DCL for these. Has anyone done these before?

Thanks!

12-31-2003, 05:44 PM
We are having Shirley at the Perfect Gift make up a "basket" for each of the girls. It's the one that comes in a small backpack and full of snacks and things. They'll love it. I had Shirley write a card from Mickey and Minnie. She was fantastic to talk to.

QueenTrident
12-31-2003, 08:42 PM
I ordered the DCL basket with the scuba diver water bottles for DD. They are going to sign it - Welcome Aboard, Love Captain Mickey. It was funny, they were very particular as to what they could say when it was being signed by a character.

I thought about doing a fruit basket, but decided against it. I figure we'll be hitting the buffet before our cabin so we won't want to eat it then and after that, we can get whatever food we want for free.

Jamie - From what I understand, the romance package include high tea and dinner at palo, couples massage, a stateroom gift, one day pass to Rainforest for about $300. Some did the math and you save about $20 overall, plus get to reserve Palo and pick your rotation early.

Happy New Year Everyone!
Don't the let post time fool ya - we were up past midnight and I can't sleep. I'm sure I'll be napping later.

Well, we finally made it to January. Unbelievable. This morning while leisurely laying in bed (trying to get back to sleep) I hit a panic mode thinking of ALL those things to do before the cruise that I'd have plenty of time to do. I had purchased some snorkel stuff for DSs and I had planned on sending it down to Shirley for her to put in the baskets but I've got to get that out soon or the baskets will be cruising without any gear.

As for us - we're doing early dining.
Yes we're also doing the wine tasting (hopefully on Sunday).
I'd like to do the rainforest, maybe the 3 day pass.

We are going to do the wine package, but we haven't decided if we're doing the basic or premier.
On Tuesday I pulled up the Eastern navigators from barb & tony's site and there's some really good stuff on there. My DH and I went through them to see what events would be on what days in case they were "don't misses" for us. We listed them and now we have a reference. Even though the schedule might change, it helped me see some of the great stuff all in one week vice waiting for the daily sheet.

Wine tasting seems to be in the afternoons of sea days.
Each day there is 2 in a series of "The Art of Entertaining" that look quite interesting. They include topics like - appetizers, entrees, napkin/towel folding, plate decorating, etc. From what I've read elsewhere, they do a "cooking demo" and then you taste test. That even sparked my DH interest.
Also if you see what shows are what nights it might help with Palo ressies. I think we're going to shoot for Palo on Wed and brunch some other day.
Remember some days they do a behind-the-scenes tour.
There is also a Beer Tasting listed for one afternoon. Not sure if that was a one time deal or what.

Oh and one other note - don't forget to sign up with guest services any morning to do the Bridge Tour. Hopefully security won't be too tight and they will still be doing them. I remember after 9-11 they had stopped them.

Someone had asked about a DISmeet - it is still Sunday afternoon, right? Place? We wanted to do a wine tasting but that looks like it is at 1:00 and if I remember our meet was at 3 or 3:30 right?

Well, here is to a wonderful New Year filled with peace and happiness. (I'm tipping my coffee cup to y'all....it's funny now the kids keep toasting everytime they raise their glasses.)::yes:: ::yes::  My DS just came in the room, looked at the screen and yelled "M&Ms" so I told him I'd put some in my message. By the way, yes my son is up at 7:45 and he was up past midnight. Does this family never sleep!!!!! I guess he will when he is a teenager. Hey Kevin - will Connor be able to hang with this wild child!

:jumping1: :jumping1:

Now it's time for panic mode! Time to get those suitcases out! To pack and re-pack! To take this or not, to bring this or not! I love going on Vacation!

Yep, The Meet is set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. but as BuzzBoyMom says, there is lots to do on sea days so there is still time to reconcider the time! It wasn't until I saw the newest Navigators that I realized that you can really keep busy!

Well today is the day to take down the Xmas Decorations!

See you in 23 days!

I read on another board that I can pre-book a larger party for Palo, so if anyone wants to do a meet for brunch or tea, let me know and I will talk to Debbie and see what I can set up.

I got my dress for formal night today, and have to go on line to order Gracie's. Sarah told me there is a bathing suit at Limited Too that she just has to have for the cruise, because she can't possibly fit into the ones she has from last year. I hope I have money left to spend on the cruise.

Can someone e-mail or pm me the number for Shirley??? The back packs with snacks sound like fun. DBMagic, are you doing the same ones for Desiree and Brienna???? I will follow your lead for Sarah and Gracie.

Jamie - Shirley's website is theperfectgift.cc or her phone number is 800-950-4559. She is such a wonderful lady. If you let her know your likes/dislikes she will do a basket with your children or DH in mind.

Also - I'm considering tea but don't really think DH will be interested. If you're interested in getting a group together, let me know. I know DH and myself were going to do brunch, but a group brunch would also be fun. So if you set either up, please let me know.

I went out shopping today for a semi-formal dress and came home with 2 more formal ones (on top of the 2 new ones I've already bought). Now I've got to pick out which 2 I'm actually going to take. By the way - take my advice ladies - I've learned a new technique for getting my husband to say yes to anything - ask the question during these playoff games. I came home and asked which dress he liked and he said (without ever taking his eyes of the tv) - "why don't you keep both!" He is such a dear!

Take care all!

Well, I am back among the living....NYE was a blast.....so many people, we had about 80 show up. Tonight, is my last party ...YEAH...dinner for 15. Dinner is over and the girls are doing a talent show for the guests. I am ready for bed.

I am very interested in a group Palo for Tea (Lisa, Karen, Annie and Gretchen) and Brunch would be great too...(Don Lisa Karen Bill.) So count us in. E-mail me if we can get this together....lisa.halterman@cexp.com.

We have a threesome for Golf...anyone's husband want to fill out the foursome w/ DH, DS14, DS14.

I need to make more reservations...we want to snorkle somewhere. Oh my so much to do.......

I'm interested primarily in the tea, but would like to try the brunch, too. Let me know what you're thinking and when. I think it'd be a great get-together. I guess it really does pay to know people in high places (or category 3 and above...). :)

I'm laying low on excursions/reservations. DH is booked for SCUBA in St. Maarten. I plan to have my massage while he is diving. Then, later I'll try to get to the island to do some shopping. It's funny, only a handful of things survived our fire (mostly stuff in the attic), and as I was going through it, I found one of the St. Maarten shirts from the Regatta excursion we did on our honeymoon cruise. They said at the time that any other time we were in St. Maarten, we could bring the tshirt back to be replaced. It's all soot-stained and beat up, but I'm seriously considering bringing it back - more as a joke than anything else. Do you think that would be too tacky?

Other than the SCUBA, we're going to play it by ear. I want to try and do Coral World/Coki Beach on our own. Coki beach snorkeling was great las time I was there. I also want to shop. I lost my engagement ring (in the fire), so I want to see if I can find a good deal on an anniversary band, to take its place.

My big concern now is packing and getting all the stuff I need! :earseek: I'll be taking down the Christmas stuff this weekend, then I can really focus on what I do and do not have.

i believe in prayer chains, they have worked before.we have been at the hospital for 5 days with my little mouse, olivia. she has"that"flu....the one where little ones and seniors have not been able to get over it without medical attention and/or hospitalization. it started with an earache-sniifles and within 24 hours, she was at the dr who sent her to the hospital for xrays of her chest( im sure that i have mentioned before that she was a preemie with lung disease)to them sending her down the hall to the er, to admitting her. scary.....anyway, she is sleeping soundly in her own crib now:angel: , we had a company bring out a nebulizer and we are giving her treatments every 4 hours. she is also on steroids to help her little lungs out. we need her 100% better in 19 days to cruise, she SHOULD be, but we are still worried. shes our little fighter :) , and her dr is sure she"ll be ok, but im still a worry wort.

No need for beach towels....unless you must have huge ones (or disney ones...I will bring a few Disney Princess ones I am sure). They hae nice towels by the pool and also hand them out at stops as you get off the ship. A good tip is the morning of Castaway Cay to bring some off the ship with you from the pool and then take the one towel they give you as you get off the ship...that way you can have more than 1 towel per person.

mariamard -prayers and pixie dust for Olivia. My youngest had RSV three times and we're all to familiar with the dreaded nebulizer - but thank God for them! You and your family will be in our prayers.

BuzzBoyMom - thanks for all your work on compiling that list. It's great to have it all in one place!

Sounds like great minds think alike. I've been to two of the Talbot's in our area scouting out the cruisewear/spring offerings. We may have to coordinate our outfits, ladies! LOL

Prayers and Pixie Dust to Olivia:wizard:

Bad news, I just spoke with Debbie at the concierge desk and they will no longer do large parties due to the dis boards folks taking up the entire restaurant and not giving other people a chance. She said the most she could do would be a party of 6. Well, at least we tried. Maybe we can still get a girls group for tea. I asked about the age limit and you have to be 18 to go to Palo even for tea. They have tea with Wendy for the younger set. Sarah already told me that she thinks she's way too old to do that.

DBMagic - I know Sarah and Desiree are getting along very well. She's really enjoying e-mailing and sending Im's to all of the girls.

Of couse you mention Talbot's, and now I will just have to go on their website.

Picked out baskets for the girls, now I just need to call Shirley. I think this weekend will be devoted to putting everyones clothes on the bed and making a list of the last things I need.

Mariamard:

Prayers and wishes for DD, we need all your little ones to enjoy as we will have none of our own on the cruise. We (DM and I) love to see their faces light up with delight.

Dancersmom, if Tea becomes an option and there is a space open, I would love to have a afternoon of Tea and conversation with the gals.

I need to stop reading posts now I'm feeing so behind. Couldn't really plan until after the holidays this is DDs' Christmas present although our middle schooler is worried about homework and play practice. We have no cruise docs yet (I'm hoping they're waiting for me at the office) and now I get to go shopping (w/ DDs) for Formal wear. My 9 year old is hoping "there are girls my age" since the older DD 12 has already spied girls going her age. We have late seating and will probably do brunch at Palo not sure yet about dinner don't want to miss a thing! DH and I will be doing the rain forest, wine tasting and lots of cool adult things DDs have already asked if we would mind if they didn't always stay with us the are soooo excited about the lab! We are booked on the Atlantis sub in St. Thomas and are thinking about the butterfly farm in St. Marteen

jensensva - Desiree (10) has been emailing with a few girls and would love it if your daughter or daughters would join in. The girls are having a blast getting to know each other before the cruise. Desiree's e-mail is desisant@comcast.net and her IM name (if you have AOL IM) is bballcutie27727.

jensensva - Glad you joined us! I know what you mean about reading posts - I keep going back on this thread to familiarize myself with who's who. If you're comfortable posting your DDs' e-mails, I'm sure some of the girls would love to get in touch.

I would also like to do the wine tasting but DH isn't that interested. He'd rather do the British pub beer tasting. Hopefully, I'll hook up with some of you wine tasters!

Our family went to see "Cheaper By The Dozen" tonight - I'm exhausted! I think I need a cruise!

We got our docs, too!

4nitz's - you guys are fast! All Seasons finally came through. I haven't really looked at all the stuff yet. Running kids everywhere today. I need to be sitting in a beach chair - won't be long. I'm sure you're probably having this lovely cold spell too. That -25 windchill tomorrow sounds great, huh? Well as my dad always says, the weather here should never come as a surprise to the natives!

jensensva - Allie's e-mail is allie91912@yahoo.com if your daughter wants to e-mail. Allie is 12 1/2 and has been chatting with Heather, Sarah, Annie and Desiree. I'm glad she's getting to know some of the girls before the trip.

ladies - I did some shopping today. How cool is it in the restaurants? Will it be too chilly for sleeveless? I know temperature is relative, but any experience? As cold as it is here, I can't imagine shorts and sleeveless shirts but if I try real hard...

Only 3 more weeks! :Pinkbounc

I'm starting to stress a bit though. Moving back home has cost us a lot more than we expected, so it looks like we'll have to break out the credit cards for the trip. We really wanted to do the whole thing in cash, but that's just not going to happen, unless we do no fun things on board. I hate stressing about money - it puts such a damper on things.

Maria - Hope Olivia is feeling better! Is she really going to be only 7 weeks old on the trip? You are brave

Hello Jan 24 Cruisers:

Happy New Year to everyone!

Prayers going out to little Olivia.

Can't believe we are at the 3 week mark. Got my docs the weekend before Xmas...no upgrade for me...darn. Was hoping for one since I have an inside cabin on deck 6, but that just means I have to spend more time on deck.

I have the late sitting for dinner, which is my favorite. Not sure about Palo's, I'll do whatever my "gang" is in favor of.

What time are Disers meeting at the Radison on Friday night. Want to try to stop by.

Hey Cruisers!

Just checked out St Thomas docking schedule. Looks like the Magic will be anchoring at the inner anchorage, and not docking at the Havensight peir. So, it seems we will be tendering into St. Thomas. We will have the company of 7 other ships while in St Thomas, so guys, it will be crowded.

OK....STOP the heavy sighs. I had to do it in August of '03 and it isn't that bad. I kind of liked it, went shopping in "downtown" St Thomas which I thought was better shopping. The Havensight Mall is OK, but enjoyed "downtown" much better.

Looks as if St Marten will be crowded also, 5 other ships will be joining the Magic in port.

The more the merrier!

queentrident-no, no, olivia is 5 months on tuesday!:) she was 7 weeks at the time we posted our cabin, names, and ages for the thread:p .

Okay - don't laugh but every day I'm forcing myself to take one item off my pile of clothes to pack. Every time I go into our guest room to look at all those clothes, I panic. How am I going to fit everything in the bag!!!! Isn't there a clothes fairy somewhere who can wave her magic wand.

Mariamard - glad to hear that Olivia is doing better.

Hope everyone else is doing well!! DH is coming down with a cold, but I handed him the Zicam and if all we get is a cold, that's just fine!!

Take care all!

Karen - Are you planning on taking one bag for the four of you? I am way overpacking then. Also, re: colds, have you tried Airborne? It really helped me when I had a cold during Christmas week. I got a supply for the cruise, too.

Sue - thanks for the info, but I'm am bummed about that. Seven years ago, we had to tender into St. Maarten - do you still have to do that? It was okay, but a pain. Also, do you know how easy it is to get to Coral World from where we'll go ashore? I really wanted to do that on our own, but now I'm not sure. What are the tenders like? Safe enough to take DD on?

Have a nice Sunday, everyone!

Minniesota - I called Shirley last ween and made basket arrangements for both my sons and DH. Shirley talked about putting candy, coloring books and sand toys in the basket but after thinking about it this weekend, I don't think I want the sand toys. I think I'll do stuffed mickeys instead. Shirley was great - as usual. She's very flexible to do what you want. Give her a call.

Jenn - I've never tired airborne before. I sent my DH off on a week long business trip with Zicam. We'll see how he does. He's off in sunny CA while we sit here in PA getting colder and colder....this cruise can't come fast enough!

And since clothes are not my thing, I quickly scanned the message to get up to date. Well, it is getting closer now - that is for sure! Karen - thanks for the updated list! I wonder if we have any lurkers who are going but haven't posted. Also, Connor got a kick out of the picture. I'll have to send one out to you for your boys (at work now, so I'll have to do it from home).

4nitzs & mariamard -- Connor loves the correspondence. He's pretty funny when he tells me "Type what I say"! He keeps asking if all the kids will swim and play together with Mickey.

Suecot -- thanks for the heads up on the port schedules! Good information... but to us, we're just happy to be there whether I docked, tendered in, or I had to swim in!

I finally got my docs today (went to the office on my day off to pick them up!):p Got a note from the airline and they changed our flight so we will not be in the crowd at the Radisson Friday night. We have swithed to the Hyatt since we don't get in til late and the girls will have been up early since they are going to school Friday Before we leave - last day of the semester before a 2 day break.

No upgrade for us (not that I was expecting one) we are in cabin 6540.

So if we are closer to downtown in St. Thomas this may mean I will "have" to go shopping for my Mom she'll send me with a list and I guess I'll have to buy a treat or two!

http://vinow.com/general_usvi/getting_here/Cruise-Schedule_2004/STT-Jan-2004.php

looks like 4 ships will be vying for tenders....don't see any other day in the month of Jan that will be like that. does that mean major delays????

track2traveler
01-05-2004, 03:13 PM
We won't see our docs for another week - we're getting them on the 12th. But they will be personally delivered by a Disney rep at a pre-departure meeting for our small group. We can get questions answered, and she'll be passing out some tote bags and other miscellanceous Disney goodies. We're not looking for any upgrades, however, since we have a category 5 stateroom (#7568). No problem.

We're flying in on the day of the cruise, so there will be no pre-night at the Radisson or anyplace else. I just hope that the weather cooperates - it can be pretty dismal for flying from here at this time of year and cancellations and delays are the norm. But it is a Disney-arranged flight, so, who knows, maybe they'll hold the ship for our group if we're delayed.

Sue, I agree with you that tendering into downtown Charlotte Amalie is preferable to tying up at Havensight. There is more to see, do and shop for there. Tendering should not be a problem either as each ship has their own tenders, and there is room for more than one tender at a time to tie up at the downtown piers.
The shops and sidewalks, however, will be crowded with all these ships in town.

Am I the only male on this thread? I'm retired and my DW still works, so I've been elected to work the boards and forums. Our group of 34 adults is overwhelmingly female. But I see that most people are in family groups, which means that there will be men on board! I think that I am the only member of our group on this thread, and my DW and I hope to meet some of you at the get-together on Sunday.

Will

Any word on Olivia?

Since we are tendering, that means we need to bring more money to spend!?! It could be a blessing in disguise!
