View Full Version : MY daughter in law asked me today what is the cut off for flying when

pregnant.....Now I am not sure if I am going to be a grandma ..........or if it is just in the thinking process.......but she is curious......we may all go to disney again as a family next spring.......any ideas on the cut off......and I assume this is for a normal run of the mill pregnancy......thanks in advance

She needs to check with her Dr. I'm sure different Drs, have different opinions.

I flew when I was 4 months, and I know people who have flown later. I would still check. You can't be too careful.

If it is a healthy pregnancy, most doctors will let you travel until the 8th month. May not be a comfortable trip for your daughter-in-law though.

once you hit the 3rd trimester they would like for the passenger to have a dr note that medically you are ok to fly. and once you are in the 8th month they preefer you not to fly.

From my experience it's usually not an issue with flying per se, it's about being away from home close to the end. It's an insurance issue. I have Kaiser and you may be held responsible for the cost of the birth if you are out of town and the baby arrives. It varies but if you are healthy you can usually travel up to the last 4 - 8 weeks.
