We went in Mar. 2002. One of us ordered the skillet, one ordered a regular menu item, and the kids ordered kids' meals (not the kids' skillets).

No, not everyone has to order the skillet. When we went 4 out of the 5 adults ordered the skillet; my mom had the pork chops and DS5 had a hot dog. DS2 picked off my plate. I thought it was very good food- the ribs and chicken were quite good, my mother in law and my dad really liked the brisket & sausage, and I thought salad, potatoes & biscuits were enough to make a meal out of! My mom deemed her porkchops wonderful. My kids (and us adults) loved the atmosphere of the Lodge, and the restaurant is fast paced, loud and a whole lot of fun! They do stick pony races every 45 minutes or so, make lots of jokes, and it's just silly. I would definitely go again. The only thing we thought was not so great was the stew- yuck! It looked just like canned stew, and then the waiter even said as he was explaining all of the food "And, here is the Dinty Moore Beef Stew!" I just about laughed out loud cause he said it so proudly and it looked like brown, chunky sludge.

The skillet sounds great. I've been obsessing about it since June.

I'll try to leave some for you guys going later in October!

Last Oct we were able to share one skillet. You could not have it refilled. We had some leftovers but I agree with previous poster "beef stew" didn't taste homemade. I think I ordered an extra side salad. Planning on going again hopefully you can still share them.

Getting very excited.....21 days and counting

No refills?!?!?! I thought it was all-you-can-eat?!?!

Wait, maybe if you share there are no refills?

Jordan's MOM, WCC is one of those polarizing restaurants, it seems - sort of a love it or hate it, if you read posts pertaining to it.

We like it a lot. From the menu: "Start with mixed greens with apple vinaigrette dressing, fresh baked corn bread and biscuits. Move on to smoked pork ribs, canyon pulled pork, oven-roasted chicken, pork sausage, beef stew, roasted red bliss potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw and corn on the cob."

The pork and chicken are exceptional, and the sides are just fine. The only questionable item is the ribs - the flavor is great, but you're in for some pretty serious gnawing. Of couse, that doesn't stop me from eating a plateful.

Much has been said about the atmosphere and hijinks. Again some folks find it an absolute hoot, others are intimidated if not insulted.

Go once and form your own opinion, 'cause Lord knows you'll get all kinds of opinions here!

It IS an all-you-can-eat. It must be because they were sharing. I was told that that was not allowed (except for children under 3 eating from their parent's food).

We were there in august and we will not be going back. It was our first time and I admit I chose it due to all the reviews I saw on these boards. We have also lived in Texas so we are used to barbeque and fun country times . Well our server was definetely not into the fun. This was a huge dissappointment to our 3 ds. They were the ones who begged me never to plan this place again. Don't go expecting the fun antics because you can get very dissappointed. They were actually jealous of all the other tables who were having so much fun.

As far as the food, the salad and cornbread were good. 3 of us had the skillet. 2 adults and 1 kids. They just put all the food into one big skillet. Its like a lazy susan in the middle and you just spin it around. The pulled pork is excellent and we got more of that. Yes the beef stew looked like dog food and we mostly passed on that. The ribs were soo tough they were like shoe leather. The potatoes and chicken and beans were very good. Only dh had the sausage and he said it was good. Our one ds loved the all you can drink milkshakes. He had the special of the day - cookies and cream. All regular drinks are served in little glass mason jars. The dessert was good. I cant remember what we had. Don't get a table by the fireplace or you will miss all the action and have too far away of a view since this is in the back of the restraunt so to speak. Our oldest ds 15 was given the job of handing out the award certificates to all the kids after the pony races. (hmm maybe they knew he is a kids bowling coach and is always around kids), little ds did the race but did not enjoy it. He is 11. We all did have a laugh doing the hokey pokey.

I do hope you will have a better experience then us. The Wilderness Lodge itself is beautiful. DH even fell asleep in a chair while we were waiting for the ds to get out of the game room. I love the little brook through the lobby.

We had breakfast here Labor Day Week and it was very good. My DH had the breakfast skillet which he really enjoyed and I had the waffle. The boys shared my waffle and a jr. plate.

I did not like the way the server charged us.
My DH and I both had Juice albeit he had Orange Juice and I had Grapefruit Juice. The GJ was really good, so on the next round of refills my DH requested GJ. We were charged for 1 OJ and 2 GJ!
The boys had apple juice in cups. Everything is ala carte if you don't get the skillet. I ordered strawberries for the waffle and was charged $3 for a small bowl. Also our waiter asked my boys if they would like to eat dirt and worms but we laughed it off because we are not used to being sold dessert at 9:00 a.m.

My 6 year old frowned and said yuck but my 4 year old was game. That dessert was $3 and no one ate it. I really thought the waiter was joking or maybe they passed out gummi worms to the kids instead of a mint after a meal.

We will definitely go again, but just keep a better eye on the tab!
