I need all the help I can get. I (like many of you) have tried numerous (and I mean NUMEROUS) weight loss programs. I have to say that I believe the best program is WW; however, the most I lost in a year was 20lbs. Nothing seems to work for me. I have considered joining Curves. Can I do it? I am rather large (250lbs) and anyone who is plus size knows what I'm talking about. Help me please.

Doris,
I've belonged to Curves since April. I've lost a lot of inches, even though I totally fell off the WW wagon this summer.
I can tell you that at the studio I belong to, there are women of *all* shapes and sizes and all ages. There are definitely ladies in the 250+ range that work out faithfully. One gal has trouble feeling comfortable in a couple of the machines, so she just walks in place or does lunges next to those machines, and then moves on. :)
It's all about getting healthy and being good to yourself, and it's a wonderful supportive atmosphere.
I hope that helps answer your question. If you have any more, just let us know! :teeth:
I am another Curves person! In fact, just went this morning! :) I go 3x a week. This program REALLY works for me. I love the fact that you are in and out in 30 -40 minutes. Women of all ages and sizes can do Curves. The instructors can help you with a program that works for YOU. You don't have to be a fanatic on the machines - do them at your pace. I like to march on the recovery squares - some women jog - others just move their feet around. I sweat A LOT during my work-out because I put a lot into it - some women walk out with barely breaking a sweat. I started out at this new Curves the beginiing of August at 220 lbs - not sure what I'm at now since I won't weigh myself! :) I will get weighed & measured at Curves on 10/12 to see how I've done.
Go in for a trial run and see how you like it. Most of the women I've spoken to really like it and are sticking with it - mush easier now that the kids are back in school. Last night I went to my DS8's Open House at school and I saw two women I hadn't seen for a while - they commented how I now had a waist - made my night! :)
Hope you like it!

I've only been a member of Curves for 3 days :) but I can tell you my experience so far has been so good. One of the things that I like so much about it is that there is really a cross section of women there. Today at my workout there were 4 other women doing the circuit with me. One was about 20, very tiny. The other two were like me, in their 30's/40's. One had about 100 pounds to lose, the other just looked like she needed to lose only a few. And the last was a woman who was probably in her mid 60's and looked the most fit of us all! :) Truly, everyone there is SO supportive. Not sure if they are like this at all Curves, but I know I hit the jackpot with my Curves location - from the instructor/leader to the women that go there - everyone has made me feel so welcomed. There doesn't seem to be the normal judging that so often occurs at gyms.
Do try it out, I think you'll like it!
