Is anyone here training to run the half marathon in Jan. 2005? I was thinking about doing it, just to say I DID it, but 13 miles is a LONG, LONG way to run. I just started trying to run last week, as exercise, and I think I can now run 1/10th a mile! lol So, 13 is a LOT more than that!
BUT, I was thinking if I joined a gym, and ran on a treadmill, I would only have to increase my length by 1 mile a month, or 1/4 mile a week, in order to be able to run 13 miles by Oct 2004, giving me 2 months to "really be able to run it" lol. What do you think? Crazy? Stupid? Am I just bored? Is it just another PLOY to get to WDW? <--- real reason :p
Anyone else want to do this with me? I know we have the WISH WALKERS, but are there any WISH RUNNERS yet?

Oh Karen, I cannot believe that ANY of us Dis-freaks are planning to do the Marathon JUST to go to WDW :p I am officially a WISH Walker, however I have come to the realization that even with my fastest power walk, I will not be able to do 13 miles in the required 3 1/2 hour timeframe. So, some jogging will be in store for me. I had wanted to already be working on this, but not quite yet  I love the way you've broken this down into achievable goals, with room to spare at the end to fine tune your training! Makes it seem like it's not such a huge undertaking. You can certainly do this, and I think you need to keep us all motivated by posting your monthly progress.

Karen if you'll do a search for karebare1 there is a thread a very loooooooooooooooooong thread it's proabley 4-6 pages back of all of us signed up to do the 1/2 marthon for 2005. At lot us signed on to walk it instead of run it. We are all committed to doing it. Actually someone here has a site with all of our names and info on it so that the list is a running one. Towards the first of the year i think they expect to have more info on sign up times and fees. They are also working on a wish meet for this and turning it into a few day event with blocking rooms for wish memeber and tee shirts the whole 9 yards. Do check it out. If you have trouble finding it you could just pm Karebare1 for more info i would find it for you but i don't know how to post a link anyways so i'm not much help. Have a great day and i'll see you at the walk in 2005.

Yes Yes Yes!
Your gradual increase plan sounds great. I have started my training, too. I can run about 4 miles straight now, and walk as much as 6 more miles (all on a treadmill), but that is absolutely ALL I can do. I really can't imagine running 13 miles straight, but that's my goal.
I have a journal for my training (I haven't updated it for quite a while). Eventually I want to train out doors as well as the treadmill because I know it adds extra effort and I don't want to be caught unprepared.
I'm so glad there are others planning to run. We're all part of the WISHCon2005 running or walking!
