View Full Version : So, how did you come up with your screen name?

SpideyHulk24

Okay, we are all family here, right? Let's get to know each other more. How did you get your screen name?

For me, it's kind of obvious. I love the Marvel Comics, as well as Marvel Superhero Island at IOA, and my son loves Spiderman.

So I took his favorite character, mixed with mine and added a special number and viola--SpideyHulk24 was born.

How about you?

My mom and dad gave me mine. :)

I really want to know what "FlyFly_Eclipse" came from!

TigerLilly's Mom

My name came from my daughter. She is most like Tigerlilly from the Peter Pan movie (which is also her fave). She is definately a princess, but a VERY tough princess. For instance, while all her friends will be princesses such as Jasmine, Belle, and Tink - Tatum is going to be a Warrior Princess, complete with sword and sheild. Tough, but beautiful!

Mine's a "Friends"-ism. Phoebe calls Joey "FlameBoy" and according to friends I look like Matt Le Blanc, although I don't see it myself.

I didn't want to use my "normal" screenname. I wanted something original (IMO). That's it.

I'm really into astronomy which is why I chose Eclipse...and also because it sounded cool...

As for Flyfly...well, um...nothing really special...it was supposed to be "firefly" but just made a REALLY bad typo...:p

Just imagine the fustration I had when I was first trying to log in and my s/n didn't work...

Flyfly stuck though :)

The first message board I posted on was for StrawberryShortcake doll collectors. In my youth, my hair was strawberry blonde, now it is more auburn. I have used this screen name at every message board I visit now. It isn't very "disney" but I do love strawberries so. Another poster has a pic of Poohbear with strawberries, it is the cutest. I'm on the lookout for a pic of Tink with strawberries :p

I volunteer at school a lot. One of the children of a friend couldn't pronounce my last name (we refer to each other as Mrs. so and so, not by our first names). So my name got shortened to Damo (the end of my actual last name, pronounced Day-mo). And the school was then called Damo's school. Even though the girl is now 10, it is still my nickname in her family and now a few other families as well.

Easy for me. I like the 'Blade' films. The vampires gave humans the name 'Daywalkers' Blade was also known to them as a 'Daywalker' I just liked the name as screen name :)

Mine is the name of a faery, it is pronounced Y-von. She was supposed to have stood at the well of knowledge and rather than letting humans partake of the drink, she would pour it on the ground.

I'm very much in the faeries, my Celtic heritage & all things mystical. :)

Selina..........Ooops is my name. I wanted to be something else, but it was already taken.
Then I chose another name and that was gone too and was itching to climb aboard so just typed in my name and nobody had that one!:)

Baseball fan here. Hated the Yankees but loved watching Don Mattingly (Donniebaseball) play. A great example of what can be done with average talent and ability and extraordinary attitude and willpower.

...er, I didn't realise that people WERE'NT using their real names! I just logged on with a specific question and had to fill the form in!! I'm advised that I'm stuck with it now!

(However, if I COULD change, I'd have ":D ")

edie w
09-16-2003, 03:18 PM
No, Edie isn't my real name either. It was my grandmother's name, actually. I would have been just Edie, but there's another one.... possibly a genuine one, so I don't begrudge her that!!

Just preferred the idea of being anonymous.

Funny, in 'real life' so many people think of cats when they think of me!

IMGONNABE40!
09-18-2003, 07:36 AM
I spent my 40th birthday at HRH and the theme parks. The excitement of the planning brought me to these boards. Who knew I'd still be hanging out on these boards a month after my return! While there we upgraded our length of stay pass to a 2 yr AP. Now we'll be planning lots of trips and IMGONNABE40! is passe. Is it true that I cannot change my name? Any suggestions for a new name if I can?

Well, way back when I was searching for a Disney related screename for an additional AOL name (to remain secret so I could surf w/o interference from IMs), I tried Poohbear after Poohbear related name. Finally, "bisybacksn" came up unused....It comes from the story where we learn what Christopher Robin does in the morning (goes to school) and he leaves notes that say "bisy, backsn" that the others find and have trouble reading. I love the original a.a.milne stories. I'm sure a few of you true Poohbear fans could have guessed it, right?!?!?!

Neat thread,
Diane

dcookies
09-19-2003, 11:41 AM
Our last name is Cooke, with an "e" at the end. At some time or another, we've all been called "cookie". On our local football team, my boys are known as "Big Cookie" and "Little Cookie". The "d" is both a play on words (the cookies/d cookies) and also because 3 of the 4 of us have D as our first initial. ;) Hence, dcookies!

This is a really interesting thread - great topic!

phamton
09-19-2003, 02:53 PM
12 years ago when we got internet, "phamton" was the user name we chose. I use that name everywhere on the internet. Why would we choose to misspell "phantom"?

Well it is my husband's first and last name blended together:

Pat Hamilton

Thus Phamton was born.

B(ev) Ham(il)ton just didn't have the same ring.

I have just realised you can tell if someone is off or on line by the arrow....silly me!! Fancy not noticing that before. So I went to a big thread like this one to see who is on-line. Not many at the moment! :p

Dopey & Grumpy
09-21-2003, 04:57 PM
Wow Selina! I didn't know that either. You're never to old to learn something new, I guess.

My screen name is pretty obvious. I'm Dopey and my husband is Grumpy. I have a shirt with a nice pic of Dopey on it and I wore it to WDW and one of the CM's said "You're Dopey and I bet he's Grumpy?" (meaning DH). I said "How did you know he was Grumpy? Is it because he looks grumpy?":p And he said "No, that's just what most husbands are called by their wives." So, I'm not very creative but there it is...:D

Well, I've squinted at the button every which way and I can't see an arrow no matter how hard I try, but they're referring to the button to the left of the "Profile" button at the bottom of each post.

Molokai - the island I live on and Gram, in honor of my three darling grandkids. When I first started on this board, I was looking for info about UO while planning a trip for our grandsons. It was the first time I ever used a screen name. Now I use it all over the Web.

I'm Grumpy (not really, just occasionally). But I really like the Grumpy golf logos, where he's breaking his wooden putter over his knee after missing a putt. Anyway, the name "Grumpy" was obviously already taken here, and since SWATSD came out in 1937, I became Grumpy37. :)

Mine is beacause my nickname at High School was Kaz.Now no-one calls me it now, only very, very occasionly my Brother or DH.I love it when they do as it means affection to me (hence very rarely;)

Kaz was gone when I registered so for some reason put kazzie. If I'd known I would still be posting regularly years later I would have given my name more thought:confused:

Rocketman really has no one specific reason: partly due to liking the Houston Rockets as my fav. NBA team, it sounded kind of neat, plus I have a theme song.

The 23 is the lane # Dude, Walter, and Donny bowl on in the early part of my favorite movie, The Big Lebowski.

Cool post.

Mine is my nickname, my Dad started it (so blame him!) he always called me kell-bell. (Name being Kelly.) And its kinda of stuck, most of my friends call me it now. But it stuck permanently to Kell-bell, when my mum bought me back a 'cow-bell' souviner from Yugoslavia (Sorry about the spelling!)

I didn't know what username to pick, and the only other nickname I had I wouldn't want to use! Its amazing the amount of words that rhyme with kelly! My brothers used to call me smeller! They don't anymore, thank god!! I can't believe I just told you all that!!

Although I wish I had a cool meaning like Ian5150. (I loved that thought it was great!!):D

Keep em coming!
