Hello,

Just recently started LCing along with my daughter. For me it is not so much about losing weight as it is to eat healthy and to feel better. It is also the only way to get my daughter to lose the weight that is making her extremely unhappy. We both started on Sunday and to date I have lost 4.5lbs! I'm very surprised as I wasn't really expecting to lose so quickly without feeling deprived. DD will not weigh herself (she prolly has but won't tell me how much she weighs)

I'm on a mission to help her to feel better about herself praying that the LCing will help her not only lose a few lbs, but help her to start feeling better. (she has a brain injury, so consequently she is depressed a great deal of the time. Difficult for her to 'fit' in with so called 'normal' people since she looks fine but doesn't always act appropriately.) Anyway, she is only 5' tall and my quess is she weighs about 145. Before her accident, she wore a size 2, now she wears the same size as me and I'm 5'6.5".

Our trip to visit the Mouse in October has me worried about what she (and I) will be able to eat without feeling like we've totally blown our new healthy eating habits. I'd love to hear how you eat around the World, especially since we're looking forward to the F&W Festival.

:D

I know that there are many on this board who Lo-carb and do wonderful at WDW! You can do it! good luck! I am sure that some of the others will give you hints. Try looking for some posts by Ray Sharpton, he had a good post a while back on what to eat while low carbing. Also search the Restaurant boards.

Welcome to WISH, Candlelady.

I follow the Atkins plan and so far this year I've had two trips to WDW. I stayed exactly on plan the entire time and did not feel deprived.

I've never attended the Food and Wine festival, though. I don't know what the offerings are like there. I'll leave it to some of our October WDW vets to give you information about that, I just wanted to welcome you.

Will you be taking the challenge? There is a lot more to getting healthy than losing weight. I hope you will decide to join us. WISH is a great place.

My eating plan is to eat sensibly and to watch my calorie intake. I am going on a 14 day trip at the beginning of Dec. I ahve decided that I am not going to blow this, so I have started to plan for it now. We have a number of PS's so I have checked the menus for those restaurants and figured out what I will be able to eat. I have also looked at the menus for various other places, counter service etc. So now I know the places that have something on their menu that I will be able to eat. I think if you are prepared then you are less likely to go of your chosen eating plan.

Good luck to you and hope that you have a great trip.

Thanks for the welcome:D

Not sure if I'll be taking the challenge since I'm not really doing LC to lose weight, just to buddy up with DD. More of a quiet lurker than a poster since I'm pretty quiet in RL too. I'll prolly post when I have a question.

I'm going to have a real problem with the funnel cakes in Epcot. They are one of my fav bad things to eat, ordered extra crispy of course! But I promise to be strong to set an example for DD. I took a look at some of the menus and don't think it will be too difficult.

It's only been a week but I have to admit, I'm not craving any carbs or even sugar. And I certainly do not feel deprived in any way. I've almost given up the 10+ cups of coffee I'd normally have during the course of a day. Now I have one cup in morning and the rest of the day I drink water.

Thanks again. I'm off to do a search for Ray Sharpton like MelanieC suggested.
