This is obviously wishful thinking, but if you could choose a new DVC resort where/what would you want?

Animal Kingdom Lodge!!!

I would also like the Polynesian.

AKL! We are BWV and HH owners, and I have no interest in buying into any other on-site properties. The only way I would change my mind is if AKL built a DVC resort. If that ever happened, I would buy points there in a heartbeat!

I said Eagle Pines. It looks like it will be a nice on if its ever built!! I also like the sounds of AKL villas!

AKL is my vote.

I don't care for the Contemporary at all, and Poly is nice but does not hold any interest for us as a DVC resort. If I never stay at the Poly again I wouldn't care, I do not plan on ever staying at the Contemporary again. We don't golf so EP does not interest me at this time.

I voted for the Poly, but I would also love to have one at AKL.
In a way I'm glad they don't, as I would go broke buying points!

Without question I would want the Poly. The Contemporay is a decent substitute for the Poly.

Well, despite all the predictions about no other off site resorts,, whether they are accurate or not and I don't wish to pursue that line of discussion (hense the comments) the original question is "If I could choose...' and I would choose another offsite location on this side of the Rocky mountains so that it was within reasonable driving distance. Possibilities?

Texas Coast
Colorado
Washington D.C.
New York
Grand Canyon
Other National Parks

Just my preference. There are plenty of WDW options with the development of SSR.

But, how would we get to Cataway Cay? They'd have to have a boat service or you'd to to work the cruise in. Days staying at a villa there woudl ahve to be planned around thsi.

I've always thought that if they ever offered a Poly Villas or Contemporary Villas, that I would absolutely have to purchase, there's just no way I could talk myself out of that one. But I hadn't thought of Peddler's idea of a Sports complex villas, and that would be interesting to me as well, maybe a place with a really huge workout center and unbelievably large pool with lap lanes, tennis center, things like that. Although those type of things cost more to maintain than a regular resort probably.

I cast my vote for AKL and stand by that one.

Honestly both the Poly and the Contemporary never did much for me. I've never stayed at the Grand Floridian, but that's the one monorail resort for which I would consider a DVC add-on.

But, in all honesty, if they did add a monorail resort, I have to think that the nightly point costs would be even higher than the BWV / VLW / BCV level.

Is the convenience of using the monorail to get to just the one theme park (two with a transfer to Epcot) worth additional consideration? I can't honestly say that it is for my family.

I would like to see a resort in the mountains for skiing. Probably out west in CO would be nice. I think that WDW is a great place but I would like to see something not at the water or WDW. The mountains are great in the summer also.

From the looks of things, they'd have a real winner if they went at the Poly or AKL. Maybe they'll see this? Sounds like fast sellers!

I originally voted Contemporary (this resort needs an update and DVC would be ideal), but AKL Villas would be so awesome! Can you IMAGINE??!!

BTW...love the Castaway Cay idea! ;)

I voted "other". I have to say DVC at Castaway Cay too. I know there are lots of bugs there but there were a lot in the WDW world area too at one time. Now most of them are in "A Bugs Life."

Hate to burst everyone's bubble but there will never be a DVC resort at the Poly. I spoke to one of the DVC higher ups about it and was told that 1) there's no room and 2) the ground there is unstable. It's a very wet area (lagoon) and when they refurb the hotel they have to fly in the supplies with a helicopter. They can't use a crane because it would sink. Sorry for the bad news.

Please modify this poll to include Castaway Cay and AKL. If it is not modifiable (is that a word?) a new poll that included these would be interesting.

I agree. My suggestions:

Poly
Contemporary
Grand Floridian
Animal Kingdom Lodge
Eagle Pines
Castaway Cay
Disneyland
Offsite (maybe even separate options for East / West Coast)

I hope all you folks aren't fibbing out there.
That way, if the rumor about the CR becomes reality, then we would have less competition for the points. Maistre Gracey and I will buy them all.
Sure, we'll be broke, but in the Happiest Place on Earth.
At least we will be able to ride the monorail. LOL:teeth: :teeth: :p

I voted for the Poly--really like the atmosphere. It would be great to have the monorail for a DVC resort.
How about if they used a couple of the existing log houses at the Poly and redid them for DVC?

AKL would be a good one too.

Poly for sure, if the Grand Floridian was building DVC ( which it never will) I would pick it over Poly.

Since I'm dreaming here...I would love to see one along the Epcot monorail line, on some of that unused property. Or better yet..something out near Grand Canyon or someplace like that. I hate the thought of using my hard earned points for a non-Disney experience. Ah well.

Where ever it is it should have good transportation to more than 1 activity, multiple parks or park and DTD. Bus transportation should not be considered. Mono-Rail or Water Taxi seem to be the best in my opinion. Home for me is BCV and I think the water taxi is great and close to 2 parks (EPCOT and MGM) was a great plus in our decision. The convenience to be able to walk to a Park and a short water taxi ride to another can't be beat.
As you may be able to tell I do not like the Bus transportation.

Somewhere (anywhere) within a short driving distance of NJ/NY/PA!!

I'm sure any DVC resort would be beautiful. Just wish there was one in the northeast that we could get to more often.:p

Hands down - AKL Villas! :)

We loved our week stay there. DH even mentioned when we were there how great a DVC component to the resort would be and he is one who really doesn't want to purchase anymore points! But if AKL Villas suddenly appeared he'd be calling up for points! :)

Lexxiefern
09-18-2003, 04:08 PM
I am surprised that the numbers for Eagle Pines is so low. (Although I'm not interested in it :p )

So there is a slim chance of a DVC Poly.....what about a DVC at AKL?? Is there plenty of space there?

StephenKay

AKL sounds wonderful and I would buy there in a minute too, but a DVC resort on the monorail would be excellent.

We would take the Polynesian in a heartbeat. We have always loved it there and used to stay there every time we went down. However, we are loving BCV just as much.
