Have you gone SOLO to a Buffet?

Just wondering if anyone here on the SOLO board has done Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace SOLO?:confused: I am thinking of doing this in November, thanks.;)

I haven't done those solo but have done other buffets solo (Akershus, H&V) and have enjoyed them.

Haven't done solo buffet yet but I am actually booked in for solo lunch at CP in Nov. Looking for to it and bringing a tablet to write all of my fond memories down.

I didn't feel odd being single, I did feel weird having to ask people to take pics for me, (at Chef Mickey's people just offered to)

Have done lots solo, Faith. Cape May, CP, H & V among them. I just make small talk with CM's or other guests in line. And take pictures, LOL. :teeth: You'll do fine.

I did breakfastasaurus on my solo trip- it was fine... they made sure to make me feel comfortable being alone. I didn't ask for pictures to be taken- but they OFFERED to take them when I was at the Garden Grill ice cream social- so I got pictures there. :)

Didn't feel odd at all. :) No different than eating out alone any other time- so that would really depend on whether or not you would feel odd eating out alone at all in any situation. :)

I haven't gone solo myself, but I have seen solo diners at the Crystal Palace. The characters came by to see them as well ... even though he didn't seem too interested (they were good at taking the hint) :)

You could always post and ask if there are any other solo diners in November who would want to go to CP or CM ... :)

I actually feel more comfortable as a single at a buffet than full-service. It doesn't stop me doing full-service of course! ;)

I had breakfast solo at Crystal Palace. It was great. The waitstaff was very helpful about taking photos of me and the characters when they visited my table. They also made sure no one totally cleared the table when I went to the buffet at different times.

I didn't feel out of place at all and had lots of fun :)

I did Chef Mickey's solo last month. The food and atmosphere were great, but I did have a great deal of difficulty getting pictures taken since there were no cast members with the characters like I've seen at Crystal Palace, and the family next to me didn't seem all that thrilled to help out. Even Mickey and Chip wanted to know why I was all by myself when they came to my table.

That said, this was my only negative experience dining solo. Everyplace else was fine.

I've done quiet a few buffets by myself. I didn't feel at all like I was an outsider. I really enjoyed it actually and will be do quiet a few this trip. Even doing CRT :)

I've gone to Crystal Palace and Hollywood & Vine. It was definitely pushing my comfort envelope only because I did feel a bit odd being a single at a character breakfast. But I would probably do it again. At Hollywood & Vine I had Pluto almost eat my entire breakfast with me but it was towards the end of the breakfast time and there weren't packed. That place was alot more friendlier than Crystal Palace. I agree that some diners aren't the most friendly to take pictures but I just asked anyways. All they can say is No, and there are more people around you who just might. I would give the advice to try and do it first thing in the morning or at the last seating.

I'm going again in January and plan to do Chef Mickey's solo.

I think the best thing to do with the solo jitters once you're there is to smile and be additional friendly. No one can resist a beautiful smile and friendly, happy person.

I did the Boma buffet solo last January. I actually think its easier to do a buffet solo than other types of sit-down restaurants. If you feel self conscious about sitting at a table alone, just keep in mind anyone looking at you will assume your dinner partner is up at the buffet!

Of course Disney staff always make you feel welcome, my server was great.

And with no one else at the table, you have extra room for putting a bunch of different courses on the table at one time:tongue:
