I just found 2 more families that are going on the March 6th! My school's counselor and her family, and another family with a 2nd grade daughter that's in the classroom right next door to me!

Has anyone ever gone to the "Singles, Single Parents" get together that they have on board? I'm single and my friend is a single parent.

Brent B
09-15-2003, 02:03 PM
I do not know anyone that has gone..... however there is so much to do....... Most of the time I have to beg my son to come spend some time with us.... He love the kids club which is great... Single or not you will find something.... One night at sea we need to get everone on here together...

Still looking for table mates!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grumbo
09-16-2003, 01:35 PM
There will be 6 of us in total including our 10 year old dd and her 12 year old girlfriend.
We have booked a sailing day in St Thomas. We get the boat for the entire day to sail over to St Johns, snorkel and all drinks and food is included.
It should be just the ticket if the upcoming winter is as cold and miserable as last years.
Cheers,
Grumbo

Is anyone going down the night before the cruise? We're flying down on Friday and staying at the Radisson at the port.

MissDisneyTeach
10-06-2003, 08:28 PM
Hey Kimnicki,
We (me, my friend and her DD9) are flying down Friday night and staying at the Radisson at the Port, too! :earsgirl: We leave Dallas at 5 p.m. and get to Orlando at 8:28 p.m.

Have you checked on driving directions to the hotel or are y'all doing a shuttle? We have a friend that is planning on picking us up at the airport and taking us to the hotel.

Can't wait to get there!

Brent B
10-07-2003, 08:36 AM
We are going to go down on Wed. We do three days before and one day after... It helps breakup the trip and make a great vacation.

I was at the port this weekend and the Radisson is very close... Very easy drive from Orlando Airport.

Kimnicki
10-07-2003, 02:49 PM
I haven't booked our flight yet, so I'm not sure the details of how we'll get to the Radisson. I was contemplating surprising my family with a limo ride, but it depends on when our flight will arrive. We'll have to meet up at the hotel...my DD will turn 9 in April!

Is anyone interested in a DIS... Function while we are on the ship

Francisca64
10-21-2003, 02:59 PM
Myself, DD (7) and DS (12 soon to be 13) are going to be there. Yeah!! No homework since it's Sping Break. We went just a month ago on the Sept 28, Wonder and had a really great times (except for the homework).

Both kids should be able to move up to the next level of kids clubs which I think will make them happy. My son was just too old for the Lab and my daughter wasn't so sure about being surrounded by five year olds when she's 7 1/2.

The kids absolutley loved the ship, pools, arcade and ping-pong. They also had a blast snorkeling. I think for St. Maarten we're going to book the See & Sea Adventure. Anyone been on it? Not sure about St. John, probably a beach/snorkel excursion.

Looking forward to a lovely Spring Break and meeting some of you. Any young teens on board??

Here we are!

I am so excited to finally see a thread for this cruise. I was wondering if I had picked the wrong week to go - although it appears from what I have learned from this board that there are no wrong weeks to cruise on DCL.

We are a family of four: myself, DH, DD3 and DD4 on our first cruise together. (DH and I went on a 4 night Carnival cruise several years ago). We can hardly contain our excitement. We are looking forward to meeting all of you on our trip!

ARE WE THERE YET.......... We just got back from a Great Carnival cruise and I am so ready for the Magic.......

MissDisneyTeach
12-16-2003, 03:36 PM
Well Brent B, how does Carnival compare to Disney?:earsgirl:
Where did y'all cruise to?

Brent B
12-16-2003, 03:47 PM
Being my 8th(mostly RCCL) cruise nothing compares to Disney..... Disney to me you pay more but you get more....

This was my first Carnival and we had a blast..... We were worried that we would not enjoy it due to the previous cruises that we had been on....... It was our guys trip my dad, my son (age 5) and myself...... It was so much fun that we have already rebooked for next year.....

We did the 7 night western: cozumel, cayman and ocho rios

It was a fun getaway...... Honestly I am still in shock and awe because I was expecting a lot less from Carnival......

But now we are ready to see the MOUSE!!!!!!!!!

We love the Magic and can not wait until March......

MissDisneyTeach
12-17-2003, 04:11 PM
Brent B,
I'm glad y'all had a good time! Did you do Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios? I was there this summer--it was awesome! I really surprised myself that I could climb the waterfall!

My mom and dad are doing the Carnival 7 day western at the end of Feb., so they'll be glad to know that it's a good one.

I'm ready for March to get here! I've already started my packing list! But now I've got to get home and pack for my Christmas trip. We leave on Friday afternoon and I'm not ready yet!

Hope everybody has a very, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, too!

We are going too! I'm new to this board and am not up on the abreviated lingo. My husband and I are going with our 61/2 year old son and 3-1/2 year old son. Can't wait to go. It will be our first Disney Cruise. We have been to WDW many, many times having grown up in Florida. My husband even worked there in high school!

Glad you are going to join us....

Please let me know if you have any questions in ref. to the cruise.....

Evans Family
12-22-2003, 11:06 AM
My latest question that I have been searching for involves shore trips done on your own. Having small children I'm not too excited to pay $200 to go to the beach on our stops and have been searching to see if it can be done (safely) on your own at a MUCH cheaper price. Any ideas? I've been on cruises before and know usually there are taxi's available at the port. Any ideas on prices and access to nice beaches?

Thanks.

Brent B
12-22-2003, 11:15 AM
yes.... being out 8th cruise we never book throught the cruise lines......

My 5 year old son loves the beach so we always take him over to Megans Bay (a must see) in St. Thomas. Just grab a taxi at the ship and they will take you over..... we spend a few hours at the beach then off to the shops..... No worries

On St Marteen our son usually stays in the kids club (because he loves it) so my wife and I have our favorite shops that we like to hit.

Both islands are safe.

Kimnicki
12-22-2003, 12:03 PM
Welcome Evans Family! I'm with Brent B, we'll be doing Megan's Beach on our own, and not sure about St. Martin. I agree totally agree with you about spending all that money just to hang out on the beach.

Have a great holiday every one!!

Kim

Evans Family
12-22-2003, 05:07 PM
Brent,
Thanks for the info. I gather that Megan's Bay is a public beach? Also, will the taxi come pick you back up? If not, how do you get back to the boat? Any idea what taxi trip would cost?

Thanks!

Brent B
12-22-2003, 05:12 PM
yes this is a public beautiful beach.... there will be all the taxies u need right there at the beach...
I want to say it was $6 a person..... I could be wrong but.....

We found out last night that my son (5) has to have surgery the first week of March....... My wife can not afford to take 2 weeks off....

So I had to call and cancel our trip today..... Boy did that hurt....

Well I just wanted to say I hope all of you have a great time.....

If any of you guys still have questions please feel free to ask....

Brent B - I am so sorry you had to cancel your cruise. I hope you will reschedule. We will miss you on the 3/6 Magic. I know how much you were looking forward to it. I hope everything works out o.k. with your son.

On another note - I just made final payment today - ouch! But it is really sinking in that we are leaving in just a little over 2 months. The excitement builds...

BRENT B.
HOPE ALL IS WELL.

CAN ANYONE COMMENT ON FLOUNDERS REEF? MY SON IS GOING TO BE 3 IN JUNE AND I KNOW HE CAN'T PARTICIPATE IN THE OCEANERS CLUB ACTIVITIES BUT DOES FLOUNDERS REEF OFFER ACTIVITIES FOR 2 1/2 YEAR OLDS??? HELP :)

Kimnicki
01-06-2004, 10:57 PM
Welcome VIKKIGZ! (We're at 60 days out everyone!) I'm sure that your son will have a great time at Flounder's Reef. Be sure to sign him up as soon as you arrive on the ship. I understand that they only have about 20 spots available:eek: . I've read that they have a play area and plenty of Disney movies that they show during their stay. I think there is a 2 hour minimum for each child and unlike the other clubs, there is an extra fee approx. $6.00 per hour.

Brent B- Sorry to hear your news! We will be thinking about y'all. Let us know how everything goes.

Can y'all believe how fast time is going? We booked our excursions this morning. St. Martin-Dolphin swim and St. Thomas-Trunk Bay snorkeling trip. Did anyone else book their excursions yet?

Look forward to seeing y'all in March!:earsgirl:

Can you believe we are almost there? Time has really gone quickly although I would not have predicted that three months ago.

We are not gong to book any excursions. My kids are only 3 and 4 and there are limited excursions in which they can participate. I want to play it by ear and maybe do some things on our own. We are planning on doing St. John on our own. It is where we honeymooned and we are dying to go back there - it's the main reason we chose the Eastern. I think we will do a little shopping in St. Maarten and then spend some time on the ship when it isn't so crowded.

Keep us posted as to when everyone starts getting docs. I can't wait to see you all there.

Denae

Kimnicki
01-07-2004, 07:53 PM
We didn't book any excursions either. My two are 5 and 8 and I didn't really want to pay all that money when we could do the beaches and the pool for almost nothing. We'll go to Megans Bay in St. Thomas and the tramway and probably Orient Beach in St. Martin. Time really is flying now! I can't wait....

Kim

01-12-2004, 05:31 PM
I am with all of you..... not to schedule any shore excursions. I heard that you can get the smae shore excursions for much cheaper when you get off the ship. I am willing too give it a try so I can use the rest of the money for SHOPPING!!!!

Grumbo
01-12-2004, 05:49 PM
St Maartens is going to be a few hours at the beach and then our group is splitting up. Half shopping and the other half watching the world go by with a nice cold drink in an outside bar/patio.

St Thomas we have rented a sailboat for the day and they take us over to St. Johns, snorkeling, our food and drinks are included. Gonna try and do a bit of fishing as well. If this is half as good as I'm anticipating it should be heaven :)

I also booked a bunch of us up for the Parasailing on Castaway Cay. I wanted decent times and got what I wanted so should be a great day.

Heres hoping for sunny days and warm nights :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Less than 7 weeks to go. I can't believe it is almost here. Make sure everyone gets their documents together - birth certificates, passports, etc. We don't want any surprises. I checked our birth certificates this weekend to make sure they have raised seals. They do, thank goodness.

I posted a thread on the main cruise forum. We got an upgrade! I am so excited. My husband said it was an upgrade from a broom closet to a linen closet. LOL! He just isn't getting as excited about this as I am. Maybe when we get a little closer.

Hapy planning.

MissDisneyTeach -

I posed your birth certificate to the regular cruise forum. Check out the answer (sorry, I don't know how to link you to the thread - I entitled it 'Birth Certificates'). It sounds like your friend should be o.k.

Thanks Mickeyboat!! I'll look it up!

Congrats on your upgrade. How did you find out you got one? When we booked in the fall, they told us our room number that day. (secret porthole room)

Can't wait to meet everybody! :earsgirl:

mickeyboat

MissDisneyTeach -

We booked in September GTY11. We were not assigned a cabin until after we made final payment. I only found out about the upgrade last Friday because that is the first time our travel agent was able to tell us what our room number was.

When we booked I didn't know about SPH rooms or even that you could request a particular room. Then I decided that it didn't matter to me which room we were in, just that we were on the boat. So I left our ressis as GTY11. It seems to have worked out well for us.

Are you a teacher? Do your kids have Spring Break the week of our cruise? I was wondering if it would be a busy cruise. Judging from the response on this forum, it would seem that it won't be busy. But we are wait-listed for early seating so maybe it will be more full than I think.

Our family is counting the days! I've been so busy reading posts on the message board that I didn't take time to post here. This will be mine and DH's 3rd cruise (first on Disney) and the kids 1st! We have 4 children...DD 15 and DS almost 13, DS almost 10 and DS 7. We are going on the Golden Eagle in St. Martin (for my 9 yr old fish fanatic) and no real plans in St. Thomas. Planning on the almost 13 yr old being able to do the Teen activities. Here's to great weather and a wonderful time for everyone.

Jena Finn -

I am looking forward to meeting you. It sounds like your group will have its hands full. Little girls everywhere!

We are very excited about the crusie too. My kids keep asking how many more days, how many more minutes? I can't imagine anything more precious than seeing my DD4 hugging Cinderella or DD3 stepping on Pluto's feet (that is what she keeps saying she is going to do). As you can probably tell, my children are polar opposites.

This is our first cruise with our kids but our second cruise. We actually won a four day Carnival cruise several years ago. We went to Nassau and to Carnival's private island in the Bahamas. The cruise was a themed one centering around country music so there were concerts on board and several acts played on the provate island. It was a blast. I think DCL is just perfect for the kids.

Looking forward to good weather and a wonderful time.

Hi Sultan 8312. I just told my DS about the Wild Thing. He's not so sure about it now, but I'm sure he'll be a different person once we get on the ship. What do you think about getting the Internet package? I'm afraid he'll spend too much time chatting with friends and not out enjoying himself.

Are y'all still staying at the Radisson at the Port? Last time we talked you didn't know when y'all were flying in. We fly in to MCO at 8 p.m. so I don't know when we'll get to the hotel.

I've started a "cruise pile" on the bed in my extra bedroom. When I think of something that I want to take, I put it in there. So hopefully when it is time to pack I won't have so much to do.

MissDisneyTeach - I have been collecting cruise things for a while too. I put them in a big bucket in my closet. I hope that will make things easier for packing. My biggest challenge will be to pare down what I am planning to bring. After all, I will have to carry this stuff (at least for a little while) while tending to two little ones.

Let the adventure begin!

Hi Ladies!

I'm jealous...I haven't started to get anything ready yet to pack. You're ahead of the game!

Theresa, we finalized our plans and are flying in the night before and get in to Orlando around 10pm. We will be staying at the Radisson as well! Although we probably won't be arriving until around midnight.

Denae, I think I may follow your lead and start to put everything in a closet! Great thinking!

We have to be sure to meet up somewhere onboard! Theresa, do you have a friend coming with you that has a daughter? I though maybe it was you that said that. My DD is 8 (9 in April). Denae, you have little ones as well? My DS is 5.

Do you know your room numbers yet? We'll be in 2026.

Got to get back to work now!

Hey Kim! Yes, my friend does have a daughter--Callie will be 9 in February. She is a 3rd grader. We are in room 5522. (secret porthole room) Are y'all taking the hotel shuttle to the port? It seems like someone said that you sign up when you check-in. Have you heard that? Too much to think about and still work, too. Talk to you later!

You are so lucky Kimnikki! Mickeyboat, I too booked air with DCL so I have to wait until the last minute to see my doc's. Where are you flying out of?

Vikkigz, I hope we can get our kids together on the boat. I havent seen too many people with toddlers on here. I am alittle concerned with dropping my DD off at Flounders. She isnt very good at being dropped off. We definitely want to do Palo's on my birthday.

The ship doesnt seem too crowded. Thats a wonderful thing! Cant wait to see everybody on board! This NY weather has me at wits end. I crave sun and sand. ( and food too...I am so sick of dieting!!!)

Hello everyone! This looks like a fun group of cruisers!!

DH and I just booked our first DCL cruise for March 6th. We don't have any children (but both love kids), just the two of us and two puppies, who will be spending vaccation week at G-ma's.

We're in a Cat 9 gty right now, so don't know our exact room yet. Hopefully soon!

We're flying in the night before, but our flight gets in at midnight, so we'll probably stay somewhere close to the airport. And take the DCL shuttle over Sat morning, doing the rental car on the way back to go to DtD for some shopping.

I haven't even thought about docs or packing, you're all way ahead of me!

38 days to go!! The best thing about last minute is you don't have that long to wait!

Hey TarraLee! Welcome to our group! No kids or husband for me, but I'm traveling with my friend and her DD9.

We are planning to go to DtD when we get back, too! We don't fly out til about 5 p.m. So now I'm trying to plan that day and what time to leave to get to the airport on time! Let me know if you come up with a good plan.

Start Packing! We only have 38 days to go!:Pinkbounc

I'm thrilled to see more new "faces" in our thread. It looks like with the ages of all of our children, that we will be running into each other quite frequently. We should try to get together. Anyone have any ideas of when or where?

Please let us all in on your plans for DtD. I am not sure when our flight home will be but we will be looking for something to do if it is late. We are flying from Manchester, NH the morning of our departure. I kick myself for doing that now. Next time I will know better. My travel agent has not been very helpful.

We are in room 1048. We were upgraded to a Category 11 GTY to Category 9. If people are still booking, the cruise doesn't appear to be full. Maybe we will all get upgraded even further. What I can't understand is that we are on the wait list for early seating. I don't think my kids will survive through late dinner. If we can't get moved, we will make due.

I find that I am overplanning everything and I need to remember that traveling with small kids requires flexibilty. Take a deep breath!

As far as dieting goes, I have been dieting for over a year and I am sick of it! I can't decide if I should try really hard for the next 5 weeks or just bag it and wait until after the cruise. I can't wait to eat the food. I love that we can try anything, and get something else if we don't like it.

Happy packing!

::MinnieMo Mickeyboat, we have the late seating also. I am hoping my DD cooperates. I hope the wait staff keeps her so busy that she doesnt realize how tired she is. I am dieting until we get on that boat.....then there will be no holding me back. (Even though I have cheated for the past two days....something about 10 in of snow that makes me hungry). Anyway, yesterday I started dragging out the shorts and sundresses. Boy that really makes it hard to wait. I am so siked!!!! I would love to get together with everyone. I would love to hear any suggetstions. We will be in a category 11 also and we also arent getting much info from our TA. I know better next time.:Pinkbounc

We have late seating too, which we're glad about, but no small kids to worry about either. Doesn't seem the ship is all that full, hopefully you all will be able to switch if you want!

As for DtD, we thought we'd do our breakfast at 8, then all the disembark stuff, pick up the rental car, and be headed for WDW by 11ish. Get to DtD about noon, have lunch, shop. Our flight doesn't leave til 8:55, so I'm toying with the idea of going to one of the resorts for an early dinner before we head out to MCO about 7.

Sundresses, shorts...geez, those are all in tubs in the closet! It is 12 degrees here!

I'd like to meet all of you DIS-ers, so if anyone has good ideas for a meet, let's hear em!

This is our first cruise and we are doing it with our four daughters!!4year old twins and 3 year old and a 1 year old so I do not expect much just hope I can relax. I was able to get an early seating (thank god) Couldn't go if that was any different. Grace loves to eat on time!!. I am learning more and more hear everyday! Like finding out what time we will be picked up and dropped off at the boat!! Good to know with 4 little ones! We are in cat 6 staying in connecting rooms. Yes, we have 6 going so we had to pay for 2 rooms but it may just work out well for us in the long run. I am so excited to find this site!! We are flying in Friday morning and then connecting to airport and to boat next day. Big schedule for 2 days but I wanted to be there day before. Anyway 9:30 at night now and past my bedtime. I'll check in tomorrow. Sounds like there will be lots of little girls for my girls to play with!

 Hi to all the new posters joining the 3/6/04 post!

Theresa, we'll have a rental car that we'll use to get to the port. I'll have DH drop us off at the port with the bags, return the rental car and take the shuttle to the port alone. It sounded a lot easier than taking the shuttle. I have heard that you can call ahead and have your name put on the list for the shuttle. Might want to pose that question to the cruise board.

We'll be heading out to DtD the day we get back as well. Our flight isn't until the next day, so we're staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree resort.

Sounds like this cruise is just going to be filled with little princesses!!

Welcome aboard, madden6!

How about a meet for lunch on one of the sea days? Maybe sunday so all the little princesses can meet early on? Just a thought, I don't know how hard it will be to coordinate a time with all the kiddos involved.

37 days and counting!

I think lunch on a Sunday is a great idea. Do you think we should try to meet in the dining rooms or at the buffet? I am leaning towards the dining room. That way we can get our little ones out of the sun for a while. We can try to sit near one another or at one of the large tables. Maybe we will need more than one. Won't the servers just love us with all of our girls? We can call it "Princess Fest." Is there anyone with boys going on this cruise?

Madden6 - Or anyone else for that matter. Do you have a preference on what time? You said that Grace likes to eat on time. Is she your one year old? My kids don't really care when they eat. I think they will probably be so busy and distracted that they won't eat much anyway. Although, DD4 has been eating like a hog lately. She must be growing.

Should we contact DCL once we decide what we want to do? Maybe they can give us some suggestions.

Does anyone else have a better idea. ?

Can't wait!!

With all those kids around, it will probably be more running around and less eating for her. This is getting so exciting...37 more days and new friends already.

35 days and counting!!! I am dying to find out what room we are in. I am sure we wont find out until the last minute.

We have the late seating too. Some of me thinks this might be a good thing so we arent rushing. Usually she is sleeping by 9 when we are home but I figure if she naps from 3:30 until 6:30 it will be perfect. Maybe we could sit together ( anyone know how to set this up)???? Hello everyone,

We will be joining everyone and can't wait. Its me and my husband, our 7 yr old son and a daughter 2 months shy of 3. A Disney rep told me the sailing was sold out. But she also told me Disney doesn't upgrade. We booked a cat 11 and were upgraded to a 10. Cabin 2043. I booked through Expedia and finding that info out was like pulling teeth. I'm jealous that people are receiving their docs. Expedia keeps telling me I won't receive them until 2 weeks before the cruise.

If it makes you feel better, I booked direct through DCL, and they also told me 2 weeks before for docs.... haven't gotten anything so far, so 2 weeks is looking like the answer. I bet they send the docs out in batches.

It snowed and iced again here last night and this morning..... I can't wait for that Carribean sunshine!!

TarraLee - A door decoration is a great idea. Are you using magnetic paper? Give me some ideas. I am a dunce when it comes to creativity.

norma30 - I am glad you finally got your room number. I saw that it is listed as a noisy room. I wouldn't worry about that. You will proably be so tired after chasing your 22mo old all day long that you'll sleep like a baby.

Madden6 - have you chosen any excursions yet? We are not planning anything. I want to play it by ear and do some things on our own. Probably a beach day in St. Maarten and a little shopping. Then we will get back on the ship. We are planning a trip to St. John on our own. Does anyone know id we will have to tender in?

Denae,
Creativity is not my forte either! I stole my ideas for a door dec from Verandah Man's website. http://www.verandahman.com/2003magicaltripreport.htm

You have to scroll down a little to see them, but he has a picture of his door and all the cute door decs he made. I made mine similar to his. I was going to print on regular paper, then glue it to heavier paper and put a magnetic strip at the top and the bottom of it.

Happy crafting!

Kb and Evans Family,

We are getting so excited about the cruise! We will have to get our 7 (or 6 1/2 ) year old boys together. Mine is a little concerned that he won't be in the club with his nine year old brother and I've decided to try and get him moved up but I know this isn't likely and I don't want to move my 9 year old down. He will be fine either way but I promised I would try.

kb I'm so glad you will be on the Golden Eagle with us. My 7 year old is really small for his age but being the youngest of 4 he thinks he can do anything they can::yes::

Bonnie my son is an XBox man...mostly NCAA Football and Sponge Bob. He isn't into Yu-Gi-Oh but you never know...

I have to tell y'all this . . . After reading everyone's posts about receiving their documents, I began to worry that we would not get our documents since we booked through icruise.com and the DCL passsengers were still waiting for their documents. On Thursday, 1/22, I sent an e-mail to our TA, Jason, and asked if I could get our docs. before two weeks before sailing. (Like y'all, they had told us they would be sent two weeks prior to sailing.) I received a prompt e-mail from customer service that they would put a note on our reservation to send our documents as soon as they received them from Disney. To my great surprise and delight, we received our docs on Thursday, 1/27. What a wonderful surprise!

I hope to meet all of you on the ship. Our children are much older, so we probably won't be hanging around in the same areas! Still trying to decide what excursions we want to do.

Don't give up on the diets! I'm right there with you.

I have a dd 15 and ds 13 besides my ds 9 (almost 10) and ds 7. I'm a little anxious about the teen program but if they don't enjoy it there is so much else to do.
Are you from Plano Texas? We live in Midland but I grew up between Fort Worth and Dallas.

I didn't book thru Disney either so I think I may give my TA a call and see if they will send my docs as soon as they get them.

I will diet until I step on the ship and then I'm enjoying my week.

Hello everyone! We recieved a surprise upgrade notice today, from our travel agent. We were upgraded from a Cat 11 to a Cat 10, on Deck 2. We will be in room 2047. We are also on the later eating list and are hoping for an upgrade to the early list for our 4 yr old son. IF anyone knows how to get an upgrade on the dining times, please give us hints. I think a door decoration is a great idea to identify where all our newly found chat friends rooms are. We are hoping our little boy will find lots of new friends. We booked an excursion on St Martin, to go spend the day at the beach. We found that alot of the excursions where for older childern, starting at age 5 and up, so we felt like we could spend a beautiful day on the beach having fun in the sun. St Thomas we are going to just walk around and find fun things to do, we hope. Wow, I still can not believe this Wyoming Gang will be sailing away sooooon!!!! Congrats on the upgrade Wyoming Gang! We were also upgraded from category 11 to category 10...room 2153. This is the last room aft so nobody will find us there as nobody will be walking by.

My DD will be almost 2 on the cruise. We also have the late seating. At first I was alittle worried about this but the more I think about it the more it makes sense. I hate the idea of rushing back early to try to get DD to nap and get cleaned up just to make the 6PM dinner. This way we can all get rested and showered and take our time...maybe even catch a show before. We are on the waiting list but if it doesnt come through I dont think it will be that bad for us.

We are not booking excursions...they are soooo expensive. We are going to relax and do everything on our own. Someone mentioned Coral World as a great trip with the young ones and Coki Beach is right next door (and reportedly beautiful)...thats the plan for St. Thomas ( plus shopping). St Martin will just be a relaxing day on Orient Beach.

Its seems that we have evened out the number of Princesses with Princes. I cant wait to meet all of you...

We are not going on any excursions either. We decided it would be too much with our 14month old. The kids will love going to the beach and see new sights in the different ports.
We found out that because we are staying in a Disney hotel the night before, we do not have to check in at Port Canaveral. I am going to double check on that but it will be one less thing to do!!

What is the countdown anyway????

mickeyboat
02-06-2004, 03:05 PM
Countdown is T-Minus 29 days and counting.

We finally got flight information from DCL. We will not arrive in Orlando until 12:56. That means we will probably not get to port until around 3PM. There go Palo ressies. Oh well, I will get on a wait list and check with the restaurant throughout the trip. We will probably still be able to get in at some point.

Take it all in stride...this is a vacation after all.

Denae,
We are sailing on a CM rate, so we can't make Palo ressies til after 3, as a rule. So, I hear you! Not to worry, there are 7 nights, and everybody only gets one (at least at first), so I think you should be safe for one. At least that's what I am hoping.

And your attitude is awesome! It is a vaccation, and I am just going to go with the flow, or waves, or whatever.

I think the only way you can do that is if you are all eating together as a group. Ie, if a guest is traveling with other guests, in several cabins, then one person may make the reservation for all of them to eat at Palo together.

How nice of you to offer, but we want you to be able to have a nice romantic dinner at Palo with your DH! Hopefully, though, we'll be able to have all the DISers eat lunch together on Sunday?

Thanks again, very nice of you to offer!

My TA gave me our flight info today. We land in Orlando at 1. That puts us on the boat at around 3 (please save me some shrimp). There goes the Palo's birthday dinner and my massage. Oh well maybe I can get that chocolate souffle to go.

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:It's my turn to dance!!! We picked up our Docs yesterday from our AAA TA. She said they came in last week but she was waiting for our friends Docs to come in so she could give them at the same time. Friends still have not come in but TA checked and they got an upgrade from 11GTY to a 9. Friends are happy they get to see the ocean now. Of course I would have shared our veranda on deck 6 with them anyway.

norma30 - we come in at 1:00 too. Do you connect out of Atlanta? Maybe we will be on the same flight. I wonder if we complain to DCL that we will miss ressies because of their flights, they will let us pre-book Palo. Then again, why make a fuss? We can probably get in anyway, especially if we keep checking back. Go with the flow - that's what I'm telling myself.

Happy packing to all.

We are having a real hard time finding summer clothes to buy here. We live in Washington state.
Another question for anyone....Do the dis discussion members (members of this board) meet somewhere on the ship? It would be nice to meet face to face.

Minniemouse...I have it easy b/c my daughter is 21mo old. I pack for her....although she does like unpacking. All her little sundresses and bikinis are packed away.

Great idea Kim! I have one slight change, we no longer have an assigned room, we upgraded, and have a GTY. We are late seating.

And yes, we will miss our pups!! hehe- they will have a great time at my mom's-- they are her only "grands" and she spoils them rotten-- ie makes them bisucts and gravy and bacon. She doesn't make that stuff for me when I stay over, and I am her first born! I do like to tease her about that.

I am just thrilled that our cruise is so soon! Even DH is getting excited, and he has been on an anti-disney kick lately. I heard him on the phone with his Dad, telling him all about how Animator's Palate changes color! I wouldn't have believed it, but it sounds like he actually listens when I talk about Disney!! Yipeee!

Also, a side question: I see many of you have a countdown timer on your thread replies. How do I get that?

To get a countdown timer go to the Tech Board from the Main "forums" page. They have a "how to" post there.

The "chart" is a couple pages back on this post, Kiminicki made it. Hopefully she'll post an updated one soon!

As I understand it, the plan is for everyone to meet for lunch on Sunday at whatever restaurant is offering it? Say around Noon? Someone correct me on this if I misunderstood, please.

It was in the 30s here today, man, does that 83 sound great! Heck. I'd settle for 60! ;)

The way you read that is this:

"18 days and a wake up".

I learned that in the Army. As your service time comes to end, you start to countdown the days. When your fellow soliders would ask you how much time you have left, you would say (number of days left MINUS 1) "___ days and a wake up!"

You dont count the last day. Thats the day (morning) you "wake up" and leave !!!!

I packed my girls' stuff this weekend and pulled out all the little things I have been squirreling away in my closet. The kids really enjoyed the "fashion" show when I had them try everything on. I packed 9 regular outfits and 2 dressier dresses for formal and semi-formal nights. I hope that is enough. Usually in a paint store/shop they have different coloured paint chips you can take home and compare and see what colour you want to paint your walls. (If it were up to me everything would be a nice beige colour so it doesn't really matter :) ) and Home Depot has a line of paint where the chips are shaped like a Mickey Mouse head. They have a couple of really bright neon like green colours.
Disers have been cleaning Home Depot out of them for get togethers :)

Its either that or Walkers have decided to get into coloured crisps :)

Is the neon green paint chip a long standing Disney Cruise tradition, or this something new and creative?
What I am wondering is if the room attendants will remove the chips from our doors? Or will they know why they are on our doors and leave them alone?
Do we write anything on these chips? I am going to the mall (where Home Depot is) and kinda wondering how many chips to pick up.

Thanks!

I'm starting to stress too! I've got to get on the ball and start organizing everything. The first thing I think about every day is this cruise:sunny: My family thinks I'm crazy:yo-yo:

Welcome sanela, I'll add you to our cruisers list on page 10!

I'm going to put my DIS name on my green mickey head and pin it to my bag, I'll also use them for decorations on our cabin door.

I'm off to organize:wave:

Well we have all of our clothes and just need to get them into the suitcase! And we have the mickey paint chips and they have our user name on them.

To MissDisneyTeach: Me and my mom are going on the cruise, I am 15.

12 days to go and we can't wait!! :Pinkbounc

Finally I have my doc's. It really is true. We will be on a beautiful cruise ship, drinking a pina colada watching my DD have a ballin less than two weeks. Could life be any better???

Believe it or not...I am practically packed. DD is all packed.

Question: Is anyone bringing a coller onboard? My cruise doc's said no coolers unless med reasons...I was going to pack some sippy cups for DD and then use it for days at the beach??

See ya all soon................Norma

Hi Norma30,
We are bringing a softside cooler. I'm just going to flatten it out and pack it in my suitcase. We are going to take it to excursions with water and room service sandwiches, just in case we don't like their food.

Congrats. on receiving your docs. That really makes it sink in!

We are bringing a soft-sided beach bag style cooler too, going to put a couple bottles of wine, some Dr Pepper, and maybe a bottle of rum too. I'm not a lush by any means, but I need the rum so I can have a drink and sing "yo ho yo ho" as I dance around on my verandah ;)

11 days to go, I just can't wait!

About the soft side coolers - - do they really work at keeping stuff cold enough? Do you get the room steward to get you ice? Do they leak?

TarraLee
02-24-2004, 01:30 PM
Yeah! I'm ready for the single digit dance! I woke up today thinking, the Magic is in St Maarten today and the next time it is there, I'll be on it!

About the soft side coolers-- we aren't going to use it in our room, just to carry stuff on and maybe for shore excursions. I thought there was a beverage cooler/small fridge in the room to chill drinks.

Last night I went to 3 Home Depots and they are all out of Alien Green paint chips....so what do I do???

I grabbed the next shade of green...I believe it is Sonic Boom....is that OK with everybody?? I plan on wearing them and making some magnets for our door.

Ok, Norma30, we'll let you slide this time on the color of your paint chips!+:bounce: lol I can't believe you went to 3 Home Depots! We only have 1! You are very determined! ::yes::

We are using our little cooler on just excursions. I don't know if they leak! I hope not! I think the room steward will bring ice for you, too.

Norma -- I don't know about those Sonic Green Mickey's . . . well, all right, they'll be fine!

I just read another thread about the fridge's in the cabins. Everyone says they work great. Soft side cooler -- one more thing to add to my shopping list for this weekend.

It's so rainy and gloomy in Dallas today, I can't wait to see crystal blue water and sunshine.

TarraLee
02-24-2004, 03:29 PM
It is gloomy and rainy here in St Louis, too! But I would rather it rain here than when we are on the Magic.

DH is getting a cold, so we're giving him lots of cold meds and OJ-- he can't be sick for our cruise.

I haven't gotten a green Mickey yet, or an over the door shoe holder. Guess I'll start a shopping list for this weekend.

02-24-2004, 04:28 PM
Missdinseyteach Thanks for letting me slide on the paint chips .....Im just glad that I can distinguish myself as a DISmember.

Tarralee My DD was sick last week...the sniffles and a slight cough. I hope this means we are in the clear for next week. I gave her ZImax and it did seem to work. Her cold only lasted 4 days

Plano Cold, cloudy day here in NY also...I cant wait to be wearing my flipflops watching the blue waters of the carribean float on by.

See ya all VERY soon

Single digit dancing shoes are on and ready for action!!! An inch of snow this morning, but that's o.k. I keep thinking about all of us in 80 plus temps pretty soon. Me, DD, and DH are packed and ready. Door decorations, alien green paint chips, over the door shoe holder, underwater camera, sunscreen, duct tape....Did I forget anything???

mickeyboat
02-24-2004, 04:47 PM
Sultan8312 -

Yes you forgot to pack for me!

Why am I having such a hard time packing? Maybe it is because I have been thinking about it for six months and now it is time to actually do it.

I did go shopping today and buy a new dress. We are not bringing formalwear but the girls and I are wearing nice dresses and DH is wearing a suit. That suit will do double-time for him when we go to Palo.

I am really afraid that I am going to forget something like underwear or pj's. ARGH!

It's gloomy and rainy in Longview, too. Inside recess is not as much fun. (for the kids or the teacher!):Pinkbounc

Hey, Plano4, I'll be up your way this weekend, in Garland, visiting friends. Is the weather still forcasting rain? I'm going to have to restrain myself from too much shopping!

Denae,
I'm having the same problem you are. I cannot get myself to pack! I've been organizing for the last 3 weeks but haven't packed. We're not going formal either, just a pant suit for me a suit for DH.

My DS5 had the croup this weekend and is getting over it, however, I'm afraid that we'll all get some part of whatever he had:eek: At least we have 10 days to get over it.

I'll be sure to pack plenty of cough medicine and what-not.

Ok I've got some questions.

We've read that no coolers are allowed. Does anyone know about this? They may not allow them off of the ship for the excursions.
Another thing is: Why are some of you taking an over the door shoe holder? Do you have a lot of shoes that you are taking? Is it a good idea to have one?
And to Sultan8312-- why duct tape? lol. But I know how prepared you are because I think you took duct tape to California when we went there. Right?

Can't wait! 9 days tomorrow!

sultan8312
02-25-2004, 10:27 AM
Wow, 50 degrees by the end of the week!!! Over the door shoe organizer is to put on the back of the bathroom door to store brush and comb, contact lense stuff, deoderant and all the junk teenage girls have to have. LOL MickeyandTink. With 2 people I wouldn't worry about it, but anymore then that and it is the best tip on the boards! Duct tape is for everthing. Fixing a hem, holding a door open between adjoining rooms, closing a broken suitcase (all from experience). Hey everyone! Can we dance tomorrow? :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Hey, I'm doing the Cotton Eyed Joe down here in Texas :Pinkbounc

Hi MissDisneyTeach. It is supposed to sunny and 61 on Saturday. I'm hoping it will stay that way as my parents are coming in from Illinois to attend my daughter's Metroplex Children's Choir performance at UTN on Saturday. It would be a nice change for them to have temperatures above 30!

You are all so energetic in your packing. I'm not even planning to do anything until Thursday!

Welcome Aboard MSUSpartanFan! The "list" is a list of DISers who will be on this cruise. Kiminicki made it, and I think it is on page 10 of this thread. Glad your family is joining the fun~!

We're flying down Fri morning, and I still haven't booked a hotel room for Fri night!! :eek! I guess I'm holding out that DH will say yes to the Poly, but I think I need to get realistic and book Pop or the A-S.

Btw, we wanted to stop and buy alcohol on the way. Does anyone know of a Sam's Club in Orlando?

9 days! 9 days! Dancing my little heart out!

:) Glad I found you guys. I am a student at MSU, and am traveling with my dad, my stepmom, and my sister. We're all REALLY excited. And thanks for the help on the counter!

I do have a question...I LOVE Disney, and am super excited to go on this cruise. But I am a college student. I'm a little nervous that there won't be things to do for me...? What do you think?

mickeyboat
02-25-2004, 04:22 PM
Welcome MSUSpartanandfam (that's a keyboard-full)!

I am sure you will find plenty to do if you like sand and sun, top-notch entertainment and food. How old are you? I think 18 and above is considered an adult on DCL (except maybe 21 for the drinking age) so you should be able to participate in all of the adult activities. Are you doing any excursions?

We can't wait to meet you. We are planning a DIS meet on Sunday at lunch in the dining room (which ever one serves lunch). Come and join us!

Doing the Macarena at my desk! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Does anyone know the words to that song, anyway?

Did everyone watch According To Jim last night on ABC? They're on our ship! Don't forget to watch next week (Tuesday night) because part two will be on!

Wow I can't believe we are in the single digits already! It seems like just yesterday that the cruise was months away but it actually has flown by! I can tell that everyone is excited because the thread is filling up fast!

MissDisneyTeach - Macarena lyrics - see www.geocities.com/Paris/2583/macarena.html
you would not believe what they are saying.

I also just ordered some Safesea from drugstore.com. I can't see letting my kids get stung when I could have prevented it. Probably just a big waste of money but it makes me feel better.

Leeannb11 - I am struggling with packing too. I have a lot of stuff out, just not packed. I did put my kids clothes in ziploc bags last night. It is amazing how much less room clothes take when the air is squeezed out of them.

DH is finally as excited as I am. The other night he said "I am going to do whatever I want and buy whatever I want." I wish I had tape-recorded that. Believe me, though, I won't forget it.

Hi all! I'm almost done packing! I feel so organized, it's so unlike me:rolleyes: I got all of my supplies...duct tape, shoe holder etc. I bought a few space saver bags from Target, pretty cheap $5.99 for 2 bags, and packed all of my clothes in them for the trip. Wow do they save space. I'll be bringing my little dirt devil vac to suck the air out on the trip home.

Hi  to MSUSpartanandfam and AndPigletToo:wave: I've added you names to the cruisers list on page 10, go check it out if you'd like!

Anyone else feel like their jumping out of their skin?

BTW, did anyone book the Romance at Sea package? I was interested in how you did with booking Palo. I had been debating booking it for the last few months. We're going to try and do Palo and a couples massage anyway.

:earsgirl: Bye everyone!:earsboy:

Kimnicki -

I need Mickey chips. We live almost an hour away from Home Depot and haven't had a chance to get there. Would you be willing to mail them to me? That would be great. I want everyone to know who that I'm a DIS'er.

I talked to my TA several weeks ago about the Romantic Escape package. They were actuall reluctant to take the reservation within 30 days so it may not be an option for you. We decided against it. DH will be reluctant to do a massage, my TA said DCL would not honor a request for a certain dining rotation (contrary to what I have seen here) so it would be diffifcult to plan a Palo dinner. She also said you could not pre-book brunch. Plus, how romantic can we get with little DD's in the room?

I have almost all my shopping done - hooray!
