Hey thanks Kimnicki! We are in Cabin 6556, hope its a good one, and we have the early (main) dinner seating. Question, what is the deal with the paint chips? Do I need one? Also if someone can answer me this, is the Embarkation time what time we are getting on the boat, or is that what time it leaves? Hope I don't miss it! I found this site by accident, but i am sooo glad I did! See you all on March 6th!

Just reading the latest on all my fellow crusiers. I can't believe this time next week I'll be packing for a week in the sun!!! We just got bombarded with snow last night...about 3" in Georgia. Everything (except my work) seems to be closed down here. Out my window all is white but soon....:sunny: and that warm sand between my toes.

Has anyone set a place for the DIS meet Sunday at lunch? I haven't had a chance to read all of the back posts. My kids and I are looking forward to meeting some friends aboard, especially since I'll be traveling as a single adult. My son is soooo excited about the Stack and being able to exercise his 13 year old freedom a bit. He's so funny about wanting to meet his first girlfriend on the ship...any 13 year old girls? I think it's sweet since he wasn't interested in girls a month ago. They grow up so quickly.

I think we are all going to have a great time. I want to relax and soak up some sun, have a few Konk Koolers and maybe get up the nerve to do some dancing. :earseek:

I talked to my TA several weeks ago about the Romantic Escape package. They were actuall reluctant to take the reservation within 30 days so it may not be an option for you. We decided against it. DH will be reluctant to do a massage, my TA said DCL would not honor a request for a certain dining rotation (contrary to what I have seen here) so it would be diffifcult to plan a Palo dinner. She also said you could not pre-book brunch.

Hi Mickeyboat.
Your TA is definitely wrong.
I made the arrangement with All Seasons Travel last week, and this week booked my Palo supper, lunch and brunch, had my choice of ANY dining rotation I wanted, and chose which spa my DW and I wanted from the two and the times. IF you still wanted it you still have time to book it.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Our home depot is out of the alien green mickey paint chips too and no other color! It's really strange because I think the only people that would know about them is people that are on this board and I don't think there are very many people on this ship from where we are from and all in the same area. So we grabbed the next green too, like norma30 did.

Well good luck packing everyone! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Good morning fellow cruisers. Am I dreaming or are we really going to be on the Magic in 8 days? I laid awake for almost an hour last night thinking about being there. I also did some ironing. My kids have never seen an iron in action so you should all feel special that I am ironing for you.

Have a great weekend.

Mickeyandtink...I think we are going to start a new trend...lol

:bounce: :bounce: 8 days YIPEE!!!

My daughter came down with strep throat at the beginning of this week so we are battling that right now. This should mean we are in the clear for the cruise however.

76 and sunny is the forcast for Cape Canaveral next Saturday...what an improvement from NY weather.

My husband and I are trying to figure money out!! We are going to bring some travellers checks. Can we use these on the boat? Or does everything go on the credit card?
Packed a little more today. Little by little the suit cases are filling up! I think I may go find those things that everyone was talking about that gets the air out of the clothes!
One week from today we depart! (4 am in the morning though, YIKES)

minimouse43
02-27-2004, 11:38 AM
I think that you use your card for everything on the ship. Then when you settle the bill you can pay for it however you want. I am planning on bringing travelers checks, cash and a credit card. I am sure on the islands we stop at you can use traveler checks.
Just a note on those bags that get the air out of your clothes.... I packed all my clothes about a week ago in them and decieded to go through all if it again......(let me tell you, I am famous for taking to much stuff!!!) anyhow all my clothes got wrinkled! So I opt to roll all my clothes instead. Rolling them seems to work for me from past experience. I just thought this info might save you some money.
Hope this helps!!

mickeyboat
02-27-2004, 11:41 AM
Madden6 -

I think guest services will cash travelers checks for you. We are bringing a mix of both cash and travelers checks but most everything will go on the credit card.

I used large ziploc bags to pack clothes. It works pretty well to get the air out. Be careful when you pack that you don't go over weight limits for your bags.

Here's something my dad sent me from the FAQ section:

You won't really need cash on the Disney ships, but when you get to port,
you'll probably want to have some money with you. In the Bahamas and the
Caribbean, U.S. dollars and major credit cards are accepted almost everywhere.
On board our ships, all transactions are in U.S. dollars. However, you won't
need cash while we're at sea because Disney Cruise Line has a convenient
"cash-free" system on board the ship. When you arrive at the Walt Disney
World® Resort or at the Disney Cruise Line terminal at Port Canaveral, your
signature will be requested for check-in. At this time you may also present a
credit card (Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express®, Discover® Card, Diners
Club®, Japanese Credit Bureau or Disney's Visa® Credit Card) which will give
you charging privileges at both the Walt Disney World Resort and aboard the
ship. Any purchases on the ship, including beverage services, spa, salon
services, photography, medical and laundry services, purchases from our retail
shops, gratuities and any item or service of a personal nature must be charged
to your room. All charges must be settled before your Resort departure and
debarkation from the ship by cash, travelers checks, Disney Dollars or by the
credit cards mentioned above.
omething that my dad sent me, as far as spending goes:

Kimnicki

I called DCL gifts and put money on our shipboard account. That way I don't have to worry about what card to use or running to guest services. Whatever I don't use (yeah right!) will be given back to me when the cruise is over!

I'm really excited about cruising but I have this anxiety about getting onboard and making Palo and spa ressies...anyone else feeling this:hyper: . I'm going with the attitude of "no worries" it's a vacation. But I still have that little voice in my head whispering "gotta get Palo ressies, gotta get Palo ressies" LOL!!

Kim:sunny:

plano4
02-27-2004, 02:10 PM
I'm worried about what night to make the Palo ressies. I've read to make them on the night of your Parrot Cay rotation, but we won't know what rotation we get until we check-in.

Also, what do you do with the kids the night of Palo? Do they eat in the clubs? I only have to worry about my DD 10.

Another question -- do they sell movie candy before the shows? I read where someone brought their own movie treats. I don't really think it would be necessary -- not like we're going to be hungry!! The kids might want it though.

Kimnicki
02-27-2004, 02:31 PM
Plano4, they say normally if your family is made up of parents and youngsters you can assume that you may have APL rotation. MMouse37 has a great chart on her site that lists the special nights along with your rotation. I'll try to find the link for you. I'm going for Tuesday night. We have the early seating, so we'll go to dinner with the kids at 6pm and send them to the clubs while we go to Palo. If you decide to go to Palo during your regular meal time, the kids will have dinner at the clubs. There is a special hall that they use to bring the kids to lunch/dinner.

I'm not sure about the candy, but I did call today to get a list of movies. Here's what I was told was playing:

Finding Nemo
Pirates of the Carribbean
Under the Tuscan Sun
Brother Bear
Haunted Mansion
Calendar Girls
Miracle
Cold Mountain
Teacher's Pet
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

They also made note that "Lord of the Rings, Return of the King" and "Master and Commander" were due to debut soon, but didn't have a date on them.

It is your dining rotation I believe. 7 letters, 7 day cruise, P= Parrot Cay, L= Lumieres, A= Animators Palate, or at least that would be my guess.

Kimnicki
02-27-2004, 03:44 PM
Thanks for the link TarraLee!;)

AndPigletToo, you are correct about the letters. I'll check and see if I have any Mickey chips left, if I do I'll let you know. They are the paint "swatches" that you get from Home Depot. They are shaped like Mickey's head. A lot of DISers use them to decorate their doors or use them to put their DIS name on so that you can recognize fellow DISers. Most people use the Sonic Boom or Alien Green. It's amazing to check out your local Home Depot and see all of the other colors, except those two, are full!

Is anyone getting in the night before sailing? If so where are you staying? We have made res in Orlando. Also, YIPPY!! DH agreed to rent a Lincoln Town car to get us to the boat rather than ride the Mears bus. Can you believe it? $50 per person to ride that bus. It was $50 cheaper to get the car! :wave2: That is for me!

TarraLee
02-27-2004, 06:08 PM
We are flying to Orlando Friday, renting a car (still cheaper than Mears!), and staying at Pop Century the night before the cruise. I really wanted to do some shopping at DTD, so that's our plan for Friday. Trying to decide where to eat Friday night, I was thinking maybe CA Grill or Ohana to see the Fireworks.

Can't wait to see you all in a week!

We're driving down and leaving Wednesday night around 7 or 8 pm. Driving all night and down to around Hilton Head for Thursday night and then a 6 or 7 hour drive on Friday to the Radisson.
Love the drive down. Watching everything change from ice and snow, to no snow, to yellowish browns to green to summer.
Got all our American money yesterday and put the hard top roof carrier on the van so getting closer :)

I am thinking that we won't have any transportation to DTD, but I am wondering if I can catch a shuttle bus to there. We get in around 7pm, byt the time we get to the hotel by shuttle it will be around 8:30 pm. How late is DTD open? The stores and restaurants I mean. We absolutely LOVE the Rainforest Cafe'. But by the time we take the shuttle to DTD it will be atleast 9:30 pm, so hmmmm. I'll have to think on this one. Maybe I'll just order a pizza, take a quick evening dip, then get a good nights rest. Hope those limo drivers are dependable, don't want to miss the boat.Would really like to meet you all, so let me know what the plan is.:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1::jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1::jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

We are leaving Tuesday, and being DVC members we will stay at the Boardwalk. TerraLee, Ohana is a great choice. It is a fun place to eat and the food is great. Walk up and watch them cook.
All the snow we have left on the ground is that yucky black stuff on the side of the road Grumbo, but snow is in the forcast for Tuesday.

-Anybody driving to Florida to the DCL besides us? Comming from Michigan. 1200 miles one way!

-And lastly, when the cruise is over, will you all be comming back TO THIS THREAD to post our reviews on our cruise ????

We're driving down as well.
2165 kms (1346 miles)
We have all the DVD's packed for those in the rear of the van, bunch of CD's for those in the front, and enough snacks and drinks to assure us of frequent washroom breaks all the way down :)
We are leaving Wednesday after work/school.

Norma30, we will definately be using Flounders. We already have reservations at Palo (we are doing the romace package) and we have a couple of shore excursions set up, too. I hope to get him in for a few during the day hours so we can have sometime together on the boat, too.
I have noticed from reading the boards that most people didn't have a hard time getting a slot, but it all depends on how many young ones are on the cruise..we will see on Saturday :earsboy:

:teeth: And the excitement continues...

My family wanted me to ask you guys a couple of questions. First, for those of you who have been on this cruise before, what did you think of the excursions? How long ahead of time did you have to plan them? What were some good/bad ones? We know nothing about them, so anything you can tell us would be great!

Second, my sister (who is 18) teaches ballroom dancing; she loves to do that stuff. Are there any opportunities for "classical" dancing like that while we're on the boat?

Oh, and by the way...definitely no packing done, hahaha.... And I am getting up at about 4:30am on the 6th to jump a plane from Grand Rapids to Detroit to Orlando, then hitting the bus, then getting on the boat. crazy, crazy day.

Take care all! Keep counting the days!

Good morning everyone! I am unusually peppy this morning at work because this is the last Monday before ... well you know!

I am so excited!

I am about 75% packed. I have to wait for the last minute for toiletries and underwear. I am petrified that I will forget it. We did some shopping this weekend and DH actually bought some dress clothes and a tropical shirt. He is getting into this almost as much as I am.

We are coming in Saturday AM from Manchester through Atlanta. Actually we won't be there until afternoon - I estimate we won't get to the terminal until around 3PM. (YUCK)

Looking foreward to meeting all of you.

Just to let you know we will be DOCKING in St Thomas and will NOT be tendering in. The schedule was posted this morning and we dock at the Crown Bay docks. I confirmed on the mainboard that this IS a dock so we don't have to worry about getting tickets to get off the ship etc for tenders.
This is great news as we're doing our own excursion and time is of the essence. :)

I'm packing....and packing...and packing some more! I really don't want to do laundry but I'm sure we will not wear all of these clothes!

The kids are done....DH is just about done and I haven't started packing yet!

I feel like mother hen looking over my two DS's just waiting for them to get sick! I'm just sure I will be at the doctor's before Friday comes.

I'm keeping my DS 3-1/2 home this week from preschool. It's a running joke in my family that if the kids get sick the Doctor asks "where are you off to" because they ALWAYS get sick just before we leave on a trip. I figured that I would be better safe than sorry and decided to "quarantine" him at home. Unfortunately, my DS 6-1/2 has to go to school so I can't do the same with him.

Keep your fingers crossed that Murphy's Law overlooks the Evans' houshold this week! ha-ha.

Happy packing!:hyper: pirate: pirate: pirate:

I ws a little concerned about the rain in the forcast but I 've heard that a lot of time it will rain a little and shine a lot so here's hoping for that!

We saw the doctor today with my DS 7. Double ear infection...oh well at least I found out now and not Friday.

We fly out Friday evening, spend the night near the airport and have a limo to the port at 10 the next morning. We were planning on a van service or renting but couldn't find what we wanted to rent available so I saw a post about a limo service and he gave me a great deal...same price as a van at another service. My kids still think we are taking a van so they will be so surprised! I can't wait to see their faces!

I'm not sure I'll make it to the Dis lunch but look for the tired nursing student with 4 kids who is asleep in a chair...that's me!

Got the dog being taken care of, paper work is all together, ride to and from the airport is covered...am I forgetting something?

Reading all of your posts has been a lot of fun. I don't have any paint chips, maybe I will bump into Sultan and grab one! I will meet you all in the dining room at NOON on Sunday! Oh yeah, which dining room again?

Also, I'd like to do the workout room if anyone is interested PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

This morning, the driveway was a sheet of ice and the kids kept falling down. Making me a nervous wreck, kept invisioning one of them falling on the ice and breaking an arm or something to that nature.

Still have no paint chip, but my DS has some Toy Story bedroom paints left over from when we painted his Pinewood Derby car, and the color is called Space Wing Green. So I took a cd and traced it on paper, then took a Nintendo Gamecube game disc and traced forthe Mickey ears, and painted it. I cut it out, now I have an 8 inch Space Wing Green Mickey head! Didn't realize Icould posses so much talent lol. Look for me!!!

Way to go AndPigletToo!

I'm anxious to meet everyone. With all the green Mickey's displayed everywhere, we'll be old friends by Sunday at lunch. I still haven't packed a thing yet! I'm off all day Friday so I'll have plenty of time to get it packed before our 5:00 flight. We're staying near the airport Friday night. Tiffany's Towncar will take us to the port Saturday morning.

We're almost there now!

Two from here...(IN) we will be on our HONEYMOON..yeah!
It will be my second Disney Cruise...his first. At first the idea of a Disney honeymoon didn't appeal to him at all...so I had to break out the pictures from my last cruise. It didn't take long for him to agree! ( I think it was the picture of the buffet table with all the jumbo shrimp that did him in ) ha

You are very creative, AndPigletToo! I am inspired to try and make myself a green mickey head from scrapbook paper now!

ewelty- Congrats on your wedding!! And Welcome Aboard!! DH and I are celebrating our 2nd anniversary onboard. We don't have children, but I'm still a Mickey-lover myself. Hopefully we will meet you at the adults pool! Congrats again!

Norma- I think we just ask when we get onboard to sit together. We could go to dining changes after the whole Palo/Spa rush. When are you arriving at the port?

If anyone has info to update Kiminicki's chart (on page 10), please post it-- I wanted to make a door dec for all my new DIS friends. :) (Yes, I was an RA in college, and yes, I miss making all those door decs!)

ewelty - welcome to our thread and congratulations on your marriage and being your honeymoon. I guess we won't see much of you, will we? Wink, wink.

Check out the chart on page 10 of this thread to see other DISer's who will be on the Magic with you. We are also meeting for lunch on Sunday in whatever dining room is serving lunch about 12ish. Please join us (if you come out of your cabin - wink wink).

AndPigletToo! Congratulations on inheriting the crafty gene. Unfortunately, that one passed me by. If I have time I am going to make a magnet and some buttons with the Mickey heads Kimnicki is sending me. Don't laugh when you see the finished product. Maybe I should have a few "beverages" before I make an attempt.

I would love to try the workout room with you. I usually like to walk so maybe we could take a few trips around Deck 4 together too. Exercise always works better when you have a buddyl.

plano4 - please pack for me! I have almost everything out but I can't bring myself to put it in the bags. If I trusted DH not to wrinkle everything, I'd let him do it.

Madden6 - I was awake for 3 hours last night thinking about the trip, the travel, and the packing. I should have gotten up and done something. By the time I got back to sleep, DD4 came in my room to tell me she couldn't get back under the covers. They were stuck.

TarraLee - We were posting at the same time. Thanks for the making door decorations. That would be great!

Can't wait to see everyone! I'm so excited!

Well just cancelled my ressies at the Radisson...
The new Ron Jon Caribe condos had availibility for us and we get a two bedroom (sleep 8) condo that has a lazy river pool and 248 foot slide for less than what the two rooms we were going to rent at the Radisson. This place looks GREAT. Gonna try and get in early to take advantage of it. It is right on the water and close to the port.
There are 6 of us so this works out wonderfully.
Take a look at the place.

Norma30 ~ We are flying out of Rochester and into Cin. Ohio, then to MCO, we leave Friday. Kinda the long way there, but it still beats driving, I'm no good in the car for long trips. Believe it or not, I really have no interest in Palos, and I don't know why. I looked at the menu for there, and nothing impressed me, the regular dining room menus looked better to me, plus I like dining with other people, you won't have to worry about us filling a spot.

Micketboat ~ Yes, will you be going to the Dis meet on Sunday? If so maybe we can set up a time to either walk or hit the excercise room?

Tarralee ~ How are the Mickey heads coming? Did you get to make them from the scrap book paper? We'll be playing our own version of the Hidden Mickeys. It will be fun trying to locate everyones Green Mickey head.

Kimnicki ~ Thanks for the update, and the room change, lol. 6556. Hey... 20 lbs is a lot. Think of it... a bag of dog food weighs that much! Imagine yourself having to lug around a 20 lb. bag of dog food all over the Magic eh? Good job! Can you tell which program I'm on lol?

I need to do some last minute shopping before work on Thursday night...one class Friday morning, and then I have four hours to pack! I'll certainly be busy until I get on that airplane!

I'm excited to meet all of you. (And to you State fans...what a sad loss, I almost cried...GO PURDUE, BEAT ILLINOIS!!!) I will hopefully be wearing a Mickey head thing (I'm gonna ask my dad to get one), so hopefully I'll get to meet some of you! Can't wait!

Sanela - here's hoping for healthy little ones. DD4 woke up stuffy this morning. PLEASE don't let her be getting sick. Our Pedi gave me a Rx for Amoxicillin in case we need it for strep or ear infections.

MSUSpartanFan - good luck on your exams. I know how stressful they can be, especially when all you are thinking about is vacation. BTW, I am an UNC alum, GO TARHEELS!

I have had a lousy morning. We were running late, the kids just wanted to dwaddle around. I burned the back of my neck on my curling iron. Then I ran over the recycling box backing out of the driveway, and cut my finger while picking up the glass. But I look at it this way, if I get all my bad luck out of the way before I leave, the trip will go without a hitch.

norma30 - we won't be arriving until late, either. If we can't get into Palo, maybe we can make our own adults only dinner - Pizza at Quiet Cove with a big bottle of wine - in the hot tub.

AndPigletToo - yes I plan to be at the DIS meet on Sunday. We'll make plans to exercise. I am looking forward it.

Looking forward to it. Only 3 more days.

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had as good a time as I did! It was so great to meet most of you! I just wish all of us could have met! And next time--y'all remind me to take a group picture! I got a picture of some people, but not of others! So when I'm putting my pictures in the photo album, I'll be mad at myself for not getting everyone!

I slept late on Sunday, then did laundry and started transfering my video from the camera to a tape. Took my pictures to get developed---they'll be back tomorrow! Sure wish I could have done 1 hour!

Here's a funny story on the trip home: We went to DTD and ate at Rainforest Cafe. Linda asked Callie (9 yrs. old) what she was going to order off of the kid's menu. Callie said chicken strips, mac and cheese, and a hot dog. Linda and I just laughed and told her we were back in the "real world" and she could only order 1 thing off the menu!

Well, we wanted to rebook, but after I got my itemized bill, I figured I better pay this one off before I booked another one! But I will go again for sure!::yes::

Y'all take care and keep in touch!
Happy unpacking! (it's not as much fun-except finding souveniers that I forgot I bought!)

We did have the time of our lives didn't we? Miss. Disney Teach I couldn't find you on the last night to tell you bye. We just made the 11:00 dead line to get our luggage out. It was great putting faces with the names. We got 4in. of snow today but I have warm memories.

Hi Jill,
I know what you mean about the 11 pm deadline. We barely made it, too! I should have started packing on Thursday! We missed the farewell variety show because of packing!

I got most of my pictures back last night and I put in my last 2 rolls. All but 4 pictures turned out great! :bounce:
I've got a copy of the one of us at the adult beach on Castaway Cay to send to you, so PM your address to me and I'll send it to you.

The weather here in East Texas is great! It is supposed to be almost 80 today! At recess yesterday, my tan got a little darker! Hoping to get even more this afternoon. I can't imagine going back to snow!

Hey Kim! We had a blast hanging out with you, too! Maybe next time we can win the jackpot in Bingo! I realized when I was looking through my pictures that I didn't get a picture of y'all! I got you on the video camera at Bingo, but that's it. So if you have an extra picture of y'all, I would love one to put in my photo album.

Well, my students are back from Music so I've got to go. Talk to y'all later!

Just able to log on to this discussion board today. Something wrong with internet server. Anyway, I was very sorry I didn't get to meet everyone. Although, some recognized me with all the girls and did introduce themselves. Thanks!!

We had a great time on the cruise. First time vacation for husband and I, where we did not want to go home!! Kids had a absolute blast ! Although, very difficult at times with such little ones. The kids were exhausted by 8pm everynight so to our room we headed. We were not able to really enjoy any of the adult entertainment. Oh well, it was great to see the kids faces light up when they saw a character!!
Hubby and I decided we will wait till the little one is 5 before we cruise again. But I am already planning a visit to the Bahamas next year! Wasn't the weather absolutely beautiful there!!(Snowed 3inches here today,YUK)

I will miss all our conversations leading to our trip=:(. But just wanted to thank everyone for their ideas and tips. I don't know what I would have done without them.

Thanks for the door decoration Taralee. My little ones talked about it to everyone they saw when they got home!!!

Bye for now,

Kate -

How could I miss you with those beautiful little girls? I too missed meeting everyone (but you), and the adult entertainment because the kids were so tired. We lasted until about 9:00 or 9:30 most nights. My kids slept like rocks once their heads hit the pillow.

My kids were difficult at times too and I think we would have gotten a lot more out of the trip if they were a couple of years older. They wanted to be carried everywhere which was a challenge since they weigh 35 pounds each. But they had a blast and loved the characters, the pool and CC.

Every time we went to a show, they would fall asleep. We would wait for the theater to clear and lug them back to the room. I don't know what we would have done with four.

We are thinking of doing some kind of beachside resort or all-inclusive thing. Fewer scheduled activities, more time to relax. Is there somewhere in the world like CC where we could stay for a week?

Denae
