How early do you reserve rental car??

We're going President's week Feb. 2002, when should I look into reserving our rental car? T.I.A.

I would start now & run the dates back thru once a week to see what comes up! My rates for October have changed 3 times in 2 weeks! Fortunately, it has been for the better!

I would start looking online now at all the major companies, and check back every few weeks until your trip. Most of the rental agencies don't take a credit card for the reservation so they can be cancelled easily if a better deal comes along. The rates change very often and it is usually a little luck and patience that gets you the best rate.

Try booking it now. and then keep checking the rate on what you have booked. I ALREADY HAVE MINE BOOKED FOR NEXT SEP. got a rate so far of 39.99 on a minivan for a daily with dollarusing the KISS code. everyone else wants 49 a day. I keep checking to see how much lower I can get it.

Agree with the above but note that usually rates get better the closer the date of departure. Get a web site or sites where you can keep checking on rates, particularly as you get closer to date. Rates change very often (both up, then down, then up and down again). If you are not on your toes (checking at least once a week in the last three months or so before the trip) you can miss out on some very good rates.
