just posted this on the resort board as well, thought you might know as well, we will be at the bdwk in December, my 5 year old is just learning to swim, but is very comfortable with those swimmies that go on your arms, would they let him go down the slide with them on??
(i hope so...) for he would love it..
thank you for your help

I know kids can go down with the lifevests--and you can get one for the length of your stay for free as a DVC member....

I will defer to those with younger children, but that is a very large slide for a 5 year old, regardless of swimming ability.
I don't think Tagrel (one of our resident ace photographers) would mind if I borrowed a couple of his pictures:

The slide is the red portion on the far right of the picture...it loops around quite a bit.
If it appears that this is too much for your young one, you might want to pool hop over to some of the other resorts with smaller slides. Wilderness Lodge has a great main pool with a pretty manageable slide for that age child. But only you know what your child can safely handle.
It does appear that little ones with the inflatable arm thingies are allowed to go down that slide:

Well, since I ripped off Tagrel's photos, I guess it's okay to quote Tagrel as well on a recent thread where he posted those pictures:
Only Stormalong Bay has a problem with the water wings on the slide. We have used the slide at WL, BWV and GF with no problems while wearing the water wings. SAB requires NO floatation device and that the slider be a strong enough swimmer to exit the pool themselves after exiting the slide. (you can't catch them at the bottom)
So you might be in good shape...though I believe you can't catch the child at the bottom of the BW slide either.

Our kids have used water wings at BWV and have used a bathing suit with a built in floatie. You can't stand right at the bottom of the slide but you can stand off to the side near the bottom (just tell the lifeguard what you are doing). Our kids started going on that slide when they were between 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 and they love it! Have fun.

My guess is the reason you can't use floaties or anything on SAB's slide is because it is enclosed. I'm sure it's a safety issue.
