Disneyfan - Sorry to hear about your troubles.:( I bought insurance for the cruise but not through Disney....it was accessamerica.com which I was told is who Disney gets theirs from. I think it was around $120 for the three of us for the full package. My mom has MS and my dad's had a few heart attacks (they're in their 70's) so I thought that it would be worth it.
Wow....I haven't even thought of packing. As a matter of fact I don't even have suitcases for the kids yet. I've seen a few on sale at the disney store but don't know yet if that's what I want. I have bought a few things for the girls here and there but I'm so afraid that they're gonna have a growth spurt between now and then. I bought Emily a new pair of sneakers with a little room to grow about a month ago and she's complaining that they're too tight. I thought she was just trying to con me into a new pair but sure enough she had a blister on her foot tonight when I gave her a bath. Wish we could predict what size they'd be!!!
I joined that WISH board today. I've been on SouthBeach for a few weeks now and need a little pepper in my youknowwhat. I cheated in a BIG way on Valentine's Day and haven't been able to get serious since then. I want to lose ten pounds before the cruise and hopefully the support on that board will help me along. I also want to lose 30 by my wedding in October so I'm crossing my fingers.
Travel With Kids - Don't you LOVE Talbots for kids??? I can't bring myself to buy anything there but every so often I love going there without the girls just to drool. I can't bring them there 'cause they'll talk me into everything under the sun. Sometimes they have cool sales there but I can't ever seem to find their size in the items that I like.
I love shopping for little girls' dresses so that part will be fun. I also have to get Emily's first communion dress and a flower girl dress for both Emily and Megan so i can't wait till it's time to do that ::yes:: I'm sure boys are fun in their own way but I'm soooo glad I have two girlie girls. princess: princess:

Travel with kids I am sooo jealous that you can get your son to still wear a vest and that Bostonlass can still get her daughters to wear pretty little dresses! I'm sure the vest and tie will look nice at Triton's. Has your friend been on the Disney cruise? At Animator's palate they used to reverse their vests during the dinner so I thought maybe that's where she got the idea. As far as the tropical shirt for parrot cay, my husband and son both wore them last time (and probably will wear the SAME ones again this time, if they still fit, since that's the only time they wore them) and I thought it added to the fun. If your husband is happy with a vest for Parrot Cay, I would say Go for It, people seem to wear whatever they are comfortable with. It is vacation after all!!!
Good luck with the weightloss Bostonlass. Ever since my foot surgery, I've had a hard time getting back on track with exercise and I've never been the best with diet. Hope you get the results you're looking for!

disneysailor - Trust me this weightloss is s l o w going! I started out with Atkins on Jan 3 and then switched to South Beach and so far all I have to show is 8.4 pounds or so. My problem is that I don't exercise at all. I have a bad back, blah blah blah....I could go on with excuses. I know that I can do most of a pilates tape if I really wanted to but it's getting off the couch that's the hard part!!! I'll just be happy if I can fit into a normal 16 and not a Lane Bryant one by the time the cruise starts!
gotta go eat my salad now.....

Hello All! The countdown continues!!
I am a little disappointed in Life With Jim - I wanted to see the whole show at ONE TIME! I have to remember to watch again next week. The ship looks wonderful - even though it was the Magic!! I am so excited -- I can't wait to go.
I am getting to be a freak about getting ready for this trip - I have to get everything prepared ahead of time - I go back to work full time March 9th and will not have much time after that. I will probably get most everything possible done this weekend. I did go downtown to get 3 kids birth certificates...and have to go to a different city to get my oldest DD - she was born at a different hospital. Fun! I am getting all the paper work done now because there will be no extra days - besides Sundays - between now and then - and there's no getting anything done on a Sunday - downtown!
Gotta run - going out with the ladies tonight to enjoy a little comedy!
I am happily done losing weight - just want to continue toning up! And I'm having a heck of a time getting to the gym with all these things going on around here lately - I did get pilates rubberband thingies and will try and fit those in when I can not get to the gym at all - I am good and get there about 3-4 times a week. There's just way too much going on right now to remember my name right now - hey what's my name, again!! LOL!

Well, I made it as far as the airport today! I went with my mom to pick my brother up as he arrived from Orlando. He is stationed in Japan with the airforce. However, he has had to spend the past year in Korea away from his family while they remain in Japan. His year is up in May, then after six months he believes he'll be back in Iraq :( , where he was for the first Gulf War. Anyway, he was able to spend a week golfing with friends and visiting MGM while in Orlando and he'll be here until Wednesday. He sure picked a good time to come, the weather is the best it's been in a long time. We've actually reached the 50's!!!! He said that it was about the same in Florida.
The airport sure was enticing, I'm ready to start packing! Are you flying out of Bradley DVClady? We are, but we probably should have done Boston or RI with our strange flight. Oh well, whatever gets us there.

Hello All!
Only 48 days to go and I haven't packed a thing...I keep saying I'm going to finish going through all those rubbermaid totes and decide what's going and what's staying - and I haven't done it yet. I go back to work in 8 days and EEK!
It was beautiful here yesterday and it is suppose to be even nicer here today. Something like fifty degrees. I'll take it! It's getting so nice - BUT I still have not seen a robin - I hear birds chirping in the morning - but no ROBIN - where are they?
Ok - it's early - like 6:15 - I have to get a shower and get to church -- want to get everything done early - so that we can possibly take the kids to the park after lunch -- it's too nice not to do something with them. After all being Cleveland - it's going to rain tomorrow!! :sunny:
We're almost there...
We'll be seeing you all very soon...

It's leap day! Auggggh! They just had to put an extra day in between us and the cruise!
At least it's 60 out today. Got home from church and got the cars washed. The kids are playing outside.
The Radisson wouldn't take our reservation for a shuttle because we booked through an internet hotel site. I guess I'll drop the family off at port at 11:30 and then take the car back to the Radisson and try to get a shuttle ride if we can't get ressies the day we check in.::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I have to ask...is anyone else addicted to ebay for children's clothes?? I have bought several items over the weekend and OMG what cute things are out there!! I especially like the Gymboree clothes that are offered since most are lines that aren't sold in stores anymore.
Ok....back to Ebay!!!;)
goofy601
03-01-2004, 07:26 AM
Bostonlass - Hey - who said Gymboree? I love Gymboree! My friend works for them and is always telling me about the new lines and when things are on sale. It is wonderful. I do like some of the things for the boys - but my youngest DD is perfect for their stuff. She's a tiny 2 1/2 and looks pretty cute (if I do say so myself) in so many of the outfits. Another friend gave me a whole bunch of little vintage short sets for "Boo" the other day - I love them! I do not get to do too much ebay - but I have been exploring and have found really great stuff - I have friends that actually bought a truck off ebay! It's amazing what you can find!
It's getting closer...YEAH!

Oh, how I miss those Gymboree days! Not as cute, but I was at Wal-mart today and they had some pretty nice Disney ties and men's tropical shirts. They also had other Disney t-shirts and things in the women's department. Some of the t-shirts were so small, I bet they'd fit some of your younger girls. I usually wear a size small top but there would be no way that I could fit into some of those little t-shirts. The Wal-mart clothes are a good option if you think you're family might only wear these things for the trip.
DVCLady, I forgot you were driving down. As you've been on so many Disney cruises, I was wondering, do they loose any of their magic after the first time? Do you go to the shows over and over? We had so much fun the first time, we have high expectations for this trip.
It's March, it's warm and our vacation is coming soon!!!!! Looking forward to meeting you all!
P.S. This has nothing to do with Disney, but my husband and I saw Movin' Out last night. If anyone has the opportunity to see it, I would highly recommend it, it was fantastic!

If we decide not to go to a show there are other things to go do and see as an alternative. Like having a few drinks with hubby at the Promenade Lounge and listening to the music. I think the only show we ever skipped was Hercules. I love the Disney shows!! We haven't seen Golden Mickey's yet. We never get bored on Disney. Its also great that the kids can do their own thing and hubby and I can spend sometime alone. I just can't take him to the outside promenade deck because the chaise lounge chairs (like what was on the Titanic) make him fall asleep. They are very comfortable becareful, lol. I think one of the DCL commericals show a man sleeping in one also.
My daughter can't wait to get signed up for the Oceaneear's Club. I asked her why do I always see you guys jumping around at the Club and she said cause mom we are partying. She is 6. Even my son that is 2 and half (going on his 5th or 6th disney cruise) knows the words to the Y.M.C.A.
When we drive from the Raddison to the terminal we play Y.M.C.A. and Celebration. DCL is a party for the whole family!

Scottohiocpa - I started this silliness about a way to identify us to each other - and I FINALLY got it together and remembered to order my pins! Thank you for doing all the leg work and finding the link - that certainly helped me out a whole bunch.
The days are quickly slipping off the count down. YEAH!:Pinkbounc :bounce:
Trying to get all this stuff with my PTA out of the way so that I can enjoy my time on the ship - and then come back to plenty of chaos - we're doing a children's sale to raise money for our ECPTA on May 1 st and I'm trying to get all the tables "sold" now and money collected -- plan out the room arrangement by the number of tables sold...blah blah blah...you'd think I already had too much to do. And we teach our kids to just say NO! LOL!
We're goin' on the Mickey Ship! Hooray - hooray!!

I haven't ordered my pin yet...thanks for reminding me.
Has anyone gotten the dreaded tummy bug that's going around yet? I was home all day yesterday violently ill with it. :( I honestly didn't know that I had that much in my body! :earseek: :earseek: Was home today only because I was so wiped but also because it hurts to cough or sneeze or laugh....I really think I cracked a rib yesterday. I'm gonna call the doctor if it's not better by tomorrow. I'm so glad I'm done with that and I hope I still have a job left to go back to after being out two days in a row. . . . my boss is the wicked witch of the west.
The weather was so nice out today and I promised the girls they could wear some new capri pants that I bought them. Hope it is as warm tomorrow so I don't look like a bad mommy with cold kidlets.
I used to only dress the girls in Gymboree for the longest time when they were toddlers and then I switched to the Gap only because I could never find XL and up. Well wouldn't you know I found those rare sizes on Ebay so look out! I even started selling things there and have gotten some spending money from it. I'm having a lot of fun with it and am going to set up a mini-Ebay center in a room of my basement where I'm going to store my mailing envelopes, packing materials, etc. It's amazing what some people will buy!
Well time for more gingerale and bed. I couldn't think of our trip the past two days 'cause all I could imagine was getting seasick. After these past few days I'm definitely bringing bromine or whatever that stuff is with us. I don't ever wanna feel that nauseous again.

Bostonlass-- hope you are feeling better. Look on the good side...it will help with the weight lose!!:)
Disneysailor--I saw your post for the Palo brunch attire. Good question. Dh & I are hoping to do the brunch rather than the dinner.
OK--I am going to vent (haven't even told dh yet!!). We are scheduled to take Monday, April 26 off from work (we will be driving back from our WDW stay). However, today the Director of Special Ed Department has placed a mantory meeting for all special ed teachers for April 26!!!:( . I talked with my direct supervisor and she asked if I could possibly drive back earlier. :( :(
I should not be upset. I should be gratefull that we are able to go on the DCL and for a short visit at WDW. The funny thing about this whole thing is that I was positive DH's work would mess up our plans, not mine!! Oh, well.....ok...I am done..now I have to go talk to dh!!!.........Lee

Hooray! We got our Disney DVD in the mail today. I think I need some kind of quick fix since I think I'm starting to loose it. Besides spending way too much time on these boards, this morning I went out on the balcony we have off our master bath and started daydreaming about being out on the ship's verandah. Of course, I was sent back to reality quickly with the sight of barren trees and soggy soil  (at least all the snow finally melted).
I missed the According to Jim show last night. Did any of you see it? I hope the DVD will be even better. It seemed that those of you who saw the DVD really enjoyed it.
I need to get on the ball and order our pins. Is it true that the shipping is $5.00? That seems like a lot for a couple of pins. I haven't gone to the end of the ordering process, so maybe I didn't get that part straight.
See you all soon!!!

travel with kids- I had missed reading your post somehow, I guess that goes along with the loosing it thing. Anyway, since we told the kids they had to eat dinner with us, I didn't think it would be fair to tell them that we were going to Palo's instead of eating with them, hence the Palo brunch. I hope since it is new that we are able to get reservations. If not, I'm sure we'll be able to find plenty of other food but I would like to try the restaurant.
Good luck with your work scheduling. Is the Director of Special Ed a Disney fan? Maybe you could appeal to her Mickey sensibilities and get excused from the meeting. Hope it works out.

Well I'm much better but my boss is still a youknowwhat. I had my weekly meeting with her and she looked at me and said, "So...how are *we* feeling?". I said that I'm ok but not 100%. She asked what the doctor said and I told her I didn't go to the doctor. (who goes to the doctor for a stomach flu?!?!? I mean I go if I think I have an ear/sinus, etc. infection but when you have the tummy bug there's nothing they can do and quite frankly I don't think they'd appreciate me being there spreading the thing around) Well she said, "well I find it QUITE odd that you wouldn't want to find out what was wrong with you!"
UGh. Are we on the high seas with no phones yet???:p
Travel With Kids - Good luck. I hate things like that. I always think of tons of things I want to say to my boss to stand up to her and then I end up a big wuss. My review is over two months late and it's never a good time for me to bring it up to her 'cause I'm so afraid of her. Not only that...I wanted to get married a week earlier and she said that if I did it would seriously jeapordize the department. (you'd think if I were that important I'd have my review on time and it would include a big fat raise!!)
Well I for one cannot wait for this much needed vacation. I want to sit out on the deck with one of those cool looking drinks and a good book and not have to worry about anything for a while. I sooo hope the kids have a good time!!!!

What happened to the spring weather? It was 50 yesterday and only 28 today. burrr!! We are expected to get snow tomorrow, Monday and maybe next Thursday!!!
Well, I talked to DH last night about the day off and my job. We still do not know what we are going to do. I might take time off from work before the vacation rather then after. .....we need more discussions. It is fairly certain that I will not be able to take April 26 off.
Bostonlass--you and (my) dh should both have a drink when you reach the Wonder. His job is beyond anyone's nightmare!!! I have no clue how he can handle it day after day after day. Oh Happy Day!
It's official - or at least it is to me!! I saw THREE - not just one - but THREE ROBINS this morning! Oh Happy Day!! Ok - I've been cooped up way too long and any good news is great news these days! Hooray - hooray - we're going on the mickey ship! Yes - I've lost my mind - I've been without sunshine and nice weather for way too long...ah the joys of living in Ohio!
Hello MRS. Scottohiocpa and good luck with the 2 weeks notice! My DH is having TONS of fun with his job right now...he's been thinking about a career change...it's been like living with a monster for the past couple of days - just very unhappy - feels unappreciated - over worked - under paid - you get the general idea! Warm happy thoughts your way when you go to find another job!
Disneysailor and Travel with kids - BRUNCH at Palo's!?! That sounds great!! Is the attire a little less formal? That certainly sounds like something I wouldn't mind trying - we're definately more along the lines of casual type peoples!
Well, I've been at spring cleaning again - and have to get back at it...I go back to work full time on Tuesday - so much to do and so little time to do it in...YES - I might even consider packing this weekend - finally! And before anyone says it - yes, I am a little strange and bizarre - I just like being prepared - I'm the one that made it to our wedding on time - DH arrived moments before...but who's counting!! :teeth:
Cheerio for now! Oh - anyone think of where to meet - since we'll be looking for a needle in a haystack trying to find which lime green dcl pins are for this board...hee hee!

Don't forgot to bring the sunscreen!!!! My pale skin is causing me more trouble. Now the doctor wants to biopsy skin from my back. I told her I wanted to wait until after vacation but she was nice(?) enough to make me a special appointment next Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. What a way to start the day. After that, no more sit ups for me for a few weeks (I can't say that's all bad;)). I'm glad it's my back and not the bottom of my foot again. I'm not especially graceful, so it was kind of hard to get around. The good news is that my stitches will be out in time for swimming at Castaway Cay!!
goofy601-Glad to know Spring is on it's way. It's hard to tell here where it is gloomy and chilly. Maybe we can all sign up at Palo's to have brunch together. I posted a few questions about it but I'm still not real clear if you sign up for different times or if it is just one sign up. Someone did real reply that is more resort casual than dressy which is nice, especially in the middle of the day.
It sounds like many of you have I lot going on with your jobs. I hope everything works out for everyone and you can have a relaxing vacation!

DH said that he would probably prefer brunch at Palo's -- we'll have to see if we can book a babysitter when we get on the ship for the brunch! Think we can get a table with all of you?!?

OK Goofy601 would you like to come visit Maine for a week? You can spring clean my house (you might need to Summer clean, Fall Clean and Winter clean first!!) and then pack for me.
Disneysailor--Good luck with your doctor's appointment on Tuesday. I, too am very pale (my grandmother said I was blessed and would not have wrinkles!!!). When we went to Mexico last October I sat on the beach with my nose covered in 45spf and a beach towel over my shoulders and legs. I did get a pretty good tan on my feet!!

goofy601- WOW! It must be a great feeling to know that you have most of your packing done. I've hung a few things on an empty bar in my husband's closet, but that's as far as I've got.
I went to JoAnn fabric today. There was a great selection of Disney scrapbooking papers and stickers. I bought some along with a sheet of magnet paper to try and make a sign for our stateroom door. I also decided to try and make our pins since I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my family to wear them. Maybe if they help make them, they'll be more likely to wear them. We'll see.

Tomorrow Emily's basketball team is playing the parents and so yours truly will have to get her groove on and show the lil darlings how it's done. :hyper: This outta be a trip ::yes::
I was looking over the menus today at ***************** and saw some of the drink specials they have. I would like a Carribean Lemonade right now!!! Yes! I am a huge Buffet fan!! We have not seen 60 F. since last October, but I made it a point to play a Buffet CD on my way to work when it was -28F. I think it helped a little. :) . Ah! margaritas. I could have used one (ok--several) last night!! My Cabana Boy is on vacation. Do like your margaritas on the rocks with lots of salt or frozen? ............Lee

Need some advice please:confused:
My daughter worked hard last night helping to make our pins and making the sign for our stateroom door. The sign she made came out great, but here is the dilemma. I had her put our last name on it and my son reprimanded us, saying that it was a safety issue putting our name on our door. Do you agree with this? Our door will be locked whether we're in the room or not. Of course, we put our full names on our pins too. Was that a bad idea? They've been teaching the kids a lot about internet safety, etc., so I don't want to set a bad example.:( Becky is also really concerned that someone might take her sign. With our name on it, I don't know why anyone would want it.
Any advice will be appreciated.
(Scottohiocpa-my kids know the "Cheeseburger in Paradise" song by heart, not sure if they're happy about that or not!)

NO, Bostonlass, you will not be the only one! I think I am Chairman of the "Pooh Sized" world. I am waiting to the last minute (No, Goofy601--do not panic--I will be fine!!). I tried on a skirt and top and decided that much more work needs to be done!! It was also a Wal-mart outfit. I usually do not buy clothing at Wal-mart. We live in a Outlet Mega. I have so many higher quality clothing options (granted they are maybe not this years fashions, but they are cheaper then the department stores).

I, personally think your last name is fine! I understand the concern about putting your names (especially the kids) on items. I will not let my children have their names on their backpacks. Is it just your last name? Maybe explain that the DCL would know your entire name, where as a stranger would not.
As far as the someone taking your sign. I have a hard time thinking of someone stealing a sign off a door. Maybe you could ask this question on the main Disney Cruise Board. They might be abole to help you. I know that there was a thread about someone's stolen door poster. ..........Lee

It is just our last name on the door, but I put our full names on the pins. I'm sure the kids won't be wearing the pins much, if at all, anyway. I intend to know the kids whereabouts at all times (ideally) and the ship seems very safe.
I have read some posts where people have stolen things off the doors. Worse case, if someone really appreciates her hard work and can't live without our sign, we'll buy materials so she can make a new one at home.

Disneysailor. I live in Westeren Maine (next door to North Conwy,NH). This is where I do most of my shopping (tax-free). Freeport, Maine is on the coast and is home to LLBean. Freeport is the best place to outlet shop. You can park your car and then walk around the village. The distance from most parking lots to stores are not that far. Freeport does have an LLBean outlet and their main store (open 24 hours-- but not the other stores in Freeport!). The main store and the outlet LLBean are in two sperate locations, but walkable.
There is also Kittery, Maine. I do not have much experience with Kittery outlets.

Travel with kids:
We like frozen margaritas best! But our favorites are the Down Under Ritas at Outback Steakhouse.::yes::
Warning: Only drink one or you will start to see Kangaroos and wallabys!
About the door sign:
We think you will be safe with your name on the door. We will be putting our name on the door also. After all, they're going to announce "The Thomas Family from Canton, OH" when we board.
Since it's a family oriented cruise, I think it's safe. I read about people stealing door signs and stuff on other cruise boards but it sounded like this sort of thing happens at 2:00 am when some drunken partyers are wandering the halls. We have been on two Carnival Cruises and sometimes people have a little too much fun.
About packing:
We had our DS try on his shorts and they pretty much all fit him. DD got a new pair of capris and some new shorts as she is growing like a weed. She is very into sports and it is hard to get her to wear anything but soccer shorts and t-shirts. I'm sure a dress is out of the question! We did get her to buy a few nice items at Limited Too last weekend.

Disneysailor- Yes, I was up way too early!! I have to get on the ball and get everything organized for the trip. I have been jumping between this board and my college class (on-line). Both DH and I are feeling very overwhelmed. His job (really bad stuff happening) and my classes have really taken a toll on us. It will be good to relax. I hope that we do not forget anything. Finding time to make a door sing is almost out of the question, but perhaps this what our family needs to let go all that is happening around us.....Lee

I so excited - and I just can't hide it -- :bounce: Ok - so I've lost my mind - which I'm quite sure most of think that already anyways! AND - your all correct!! BUT - we're going on a mickey ship - hooray - hooray!
I had DH go up into the attic to get the suitcases down (since I'm not allowed on the ladder - because I fell off!:( ) and wouldn't you know it - he found another container with MORE clothes in it for the kids - He didn't look too pleased - I do hit resale shops - garage sales - clearance racks - friends and family...it's a never ending supply of clothes for everyone -- except ME! LOL! I did manage to find enough "cruise" clothes - or at least I hope so -- something casual - something a little nicer and then plenty of hanging out stuff - sound good...??? This could drive you nuts planning out what your going to wear 6 weeks from now!
I need to go on your shopping trips - disneysailor and travelwith kids - I've driven to PA a couple times to go to the outlet mall and not pay taxes on clothes! That is soooooooo awesome - we of course - pay taxes for everything! Yet another joy of living in OH!
Gotta run - still tons of stuff to do before I go back to work - and I actually LOVE this job!! It's outside - it's with plants and different people every day -- ask me again about July about my job and my attitude changes a little - HOT and STICKY and...you get the idea!
We're going on a Mickey ship....hooray - hooray!
p.s. about the sign - I think it would be fine with your name -- we did just pins for DH and myself and are a little leary about putting names on our kids - of course the kids principal INSISTS on their names being on the outside of backpacks - for confusion purposes -- there's a whole different story!

goofy 601- How many suitcases are you bringing? I wish I could go up in my attic and magically find some more clothes! BTW,what is your principal thinking, it is definately a bad idea having the kids go to school with their names showing. Until my son brought it up, I wasn't concerned about the ship because I figured they would always be supervised, but walking back and forth to school is another story.
travel with kids-Sorry your dh's job is not going so well. The only thing I can say, is that my dh has had some weird things happen in the past with his jobs and no matter how bad things seem at the time, everything seems to work out in the end. Good luck. We have some extra materials left over from our sign, I'm sure my dd would be happy to make your family a sign if you like. Let me know.

disneysailor - as of this minute we have 3 suitcases - one for DH, one for the 2 boys and one really really big one for the 2 girls
and me! I still have room in the big one for a couple of extras - and might bag and put our shoes in there - since we girls have SO many shoes! LOL!
about the principal - she's a little wacky anways - at the end of the school year she sends home a packet of information about the upcoming year - which includes a tag for NAME, ADDRESS and of course PHONE # for the students to attach to his or her backpack! Isn't that a sweet thing -- and of course - if you lose it over the summer - she will most definately point that out and give you another one when school starts...isn't she a peach! Oh yes - and bus number (which our city paper publishes a list of which roads ride which buses - which of course leads back to the tags...) Then of course - we teach our kids not to tell people their names and blah blah blah -- and this lady emblazens it across their backs!
You know that door sign thing - does sound like a great idea -- and I really don't think that it will really make a difference with last names -- they do announce us as we get on the ship -- we do have to let our guard down to a small degree - or else we'll all huddle up in our rooms and not enjoy this trip at all!
I need one of those pretty little drinks with a little 'brella in it right now...

Yah!! You made me cry!! Thank you for your kind words. I think it is important for my family to build our own sign to unite as a family and also create something that speaks about who we are. As far as DH's job goes---he has had many different jobs. And some tough situations. This is at the top. It is a no win situation. He entered the Medical Practice while it was loosing $$, he became the whipping boy and can not deal that the establishment will not make and stick to a "plan of action". He keeps saying that it is coming to a head soon, but I am not sure when that is happening.

Hi! This is Mrs. ScottOhioCPA - boy do I have a reputation already! I'm not all that neat and organized. You should see my basement. Out of site, out of mind. ;) As a matter of fact, I have a box in the basement that I am throwing things into for the trip. Necessities like Downy wrinkle-free spray and hair conditioner. (Heard about the irons and the hair dryers on the ship:eek: )
Still need to find Bonine for the kids. Where do you think I can find that? I looked in our Grocery Store (Giant eagle) and Wal-mart but didn't see it. I use the patches and they work well except for the dry mouth.
We should find a time to meet on the first day. We have to work around the muster drill and early and late seating. How about right after the muster drill (around 4:30)? - which will be around the start of the Sail Away Celebration. Let us know what you think.
BTW - anyone interested in the Wine Tasting Seminar ($12 per person) on the sea day? DH can't drink wine, but I would like to go.

Julie - do you think it is a good idea to bring something for the kids for being seasick - I am assuming that that is what that Bonine is for?!? We've never been on a ship - we are all fine on small boats - except for my youngest DS - he just doesn't like how fast they go -- we're hoping he doesn't realize that the Mickey ship is actually a really really really big boat! Also - what do you mean about the hairdryers on the ship? Do I have to worry about that now, too! If I don't do stuff with this head of mine - it looks horrible - eek - guess I will be shaving my head before we go!
I am hoping to bring a little of my scrapbooking stuff to possibly work on if there is inclimate weather?! I want to get my photos in our family trip album right away - I am already planning on what I hope to do with my photos. Ok - I'm a little strange - but I really enjoy doing our photo albums! I have several for each of the kids and then our family ones and then one for DH and the different types of work he's done on different houses --
Oh - and the whole reason that I am posting - wine tasting sounds good to me - my DH isn't into wine either - so it sounds like we could leave them in deck chairs and head over there! Do we sign up for that now or when we get on the ship? We of course have not gotten anything from the travel agent to book our excursions...we could of course count my DFriend on in that wine tasting -- she always enjoys a good wine and great company!
I am finishing my laundry before this insane week starts...taking the youngest 2 on one last field trip - to the fire station - before it's back to full-time working again! :teeth:
See you all soon! I have to go back into the archives here and see what else others have said was important to bring along...anyone else hear to bring deodorizes for the bathrooms?

You do have to make ressies for the wine tasting after you board because it does get full. But great! I'm glad someone else wants to go!:bounce:
Goofy601 - I've been reading that a lot of people give Bonine to their kids to prevent seasickness. I guess it's better for them than dramamine (if that's even available for kids) and makes them less drowsy. It is basically an antihistamine that works for motion sickness and it is available OTC. They may not have a problem but just in case I will get something because I don't want their trip to be miserable.
I've also read from these very informative forums that the hair dryers are very weak, so people suggest to bring your own. But with all the wind and humidity maybe shaving our heads would be the best way to go! And the irons have one setting - burning hot! I don't know if that Downy stuff works - but that was another tip I picked up. Worth a try:D

:scratchin Wine tasting, bridge tour, Palo brunch, oh my! So many fun things to do, so little time! My husband wasn't interested in the wine tasting at all and I really wanted to try it, so that sounds great! I also would like to do the bridge tour and the Palo brunch too, though. I tried doing a search but couldn't really find out when these things take place so it is hard to plan.
I noticed some posts about DIS meets after the boat drill that take place in the Promenade lounge on deck 3 midship before the Sailaway Party. I don't get it though since from what I can tell, the drill is at 4:00 and the party is at 4:30. How does this work? I sent my oldest DS out the door this morning in winter coat, scarf, hat and mittens - he'll probably come home in shorts and a t-shirt! :earseek:
Winetasting - brunch - and lots of other fun - oh my! I am SO ready for this trip! DH and I went through the suitcases last night to make sure I hadn't overpacked and I had actually underpacked in a couple of places! Thank heavens we thought to double check everything now and not the night before! I'll more than likely be bringing my own hairdryer - this hair of mine is such a pain - and I even cut it shorter than it's been in a long time - I'll probably have to convince the hairdresser to go a little shorter just before the cruise -- the less I need to do for my hair the better. I've tried to research where people do their cruise meets a little more and here are a couple of idreas. At 3:00,Secret Aft area Deck 7 (sounds like sometimes the doors are locked to get here) or Deck 10 above adult pool. At Sailaway Party, Deck 10 port side overlooking Goofy pool. It was also suggested that you set up a second meet in case the first doesn't work out.I thought maybe at 9:30 p.m. at wavebands but I don't know how this would work for everyone. There was also a suggestion of wearing green leis. I'm pretty shy and I don't know if I would want to stand out too much. What does everyone think?

Hi! We'll be on board!!! myself, hubby, son (18) and dau (12). This will be our 7th cruise (6th for the kids) - we're totally addicted to cruising!!!!! Everytime I suggest trying something else, my kids beg NO!!! For you first-timers, you can't imagine what a blast your entire family will have. It is the perfect choice, as there is so much for all ages to do, everyone is happy!! That's important in my household because of the age difference of my kids. We live north of Boston, MA in Ipswich. I can't imagine driving from here - I give you guys credit - good luck!!! I noticed someone was from Maine - we vacation there every summer in Belgrade and ski every winter at Sugarloaf - beautiful state!!! Look forward to this thread. If anyone has a dau around 12, mine would love to make friends via e-mail ahead of time: thebets57@hotmail.com

WOW! What more can I say than - THANK YOU! We would have totally missed out on SO much if you weren't all helping us plan this trip! I have to call my friend and my DH! They are going to be so excited!! I won't worry too much about a carry on - I'll probably put the kids suits on under their clothes in the morning at the hotel...and zip - they're in their suits and ready to hit the pool...is that also the time to sign up for the wine tasting - brunch at Palo's and a babysitter if you need one...??? I'll have to worry about that carry on after all...sunscreen and diapers -- and anything else that I can not get to until our suitcases arrive in our rooms later that afternoon.
LUNCH, too! This just keeps getting better and better! Ok - your all probably convinced that I'm a nut - and your all right! But, I'm going to be having TONS of fun while on this trip!!

See you all EVEN sooner! :hyper: pirate: princess: princess: pirate: pirate: princess:

I am quite sure that the girls would love to all hang out together! Please feel free to have your dd email and chat with our dd! hills601@sbcglobal.net We are from OH - and this our family's first cruise. I'm new to this thread, and have a couple of ?s - I thought I read on a different disboard that there is no brunch at Palos on the 3 & 4 nite cruises - just 7 nite. Is this incorrect? I would love to try the brunch, as we decided to have family dinners each night with the kids, so we were going to skip Palos! Also, where and when do we sign-up for the wine tasting? We did this on a previous cruise, and had a blast - some nice "adult" time! Thanks!

Welcome to the April 18th Wonder sailing board! As you can see, we have 22 pages of postings from goofy601's thread starter in September to present.
Some DCL vets, some cruise vets, some newbies. Two from OH, two from CT, two from MA (including you), two from ?(travel with kids and disney1fan2002 sorry I forget where you hail from).
ALL have one thing in common - We can't wait to get aboard and start having some fun!::yes::

thebets57 - Welcome!! I live in Swampscott :) Moved from Beverly two years ago! Good to know there's practically a next door neighbor going! I'll be there with my two daughters ages 7 and 8 so can't wait to meet you.
Wine??? Did someone say wine???? Count me in if I can figure out when and where it is! A friend at work went over Feb vacation and told me not to miss the boat tour so depending on what time that is and all that I'll see if I can make it.
disneysailor - if you go to ***************** you can click on the navigators. They have a 4 day cruise one from Dec '03 so that should give you some idea of the schedule of events. That's where I'll check out the winetasting time. That's also how I planned on the times of our excursion to Atlantis....originally I booked it for 1pm but Megan's group will be doing a "So you wanna be a pirate" thing that she's been looking forward to at 3:30pm so I moved Atlantis up to 11am so we'll be back in time.
It's snowing here too and although there's 0 accumulation it wasn't supposed to keep on snowing throughout the day. It's easy to take though given the fact that it's almost over and we're going on a mickey ship!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
I finally got a suitcase for the girls...one each. Read it on these boards and went down to Walmart to find the carryon's - 20 inch, for $14.99!!! I paid well over $80 for mine and am now kicking myself for it!
I switched to weight watchers today and went to sign up online only to find out that I've been a member since June. Apparently I have been charged for it all along but I'll be d@mned if I can find the charge anywhere in my statements!
Is anyone planning on *gasp* walking or excersising on this trip? I mean I'm definitely not counting points but I would like to get a walk or something in each day and would love a walking buddy.
ciao!

Bostonlass, What a coincidence! I was in Swampscott wednesday coming back from Zimmans in Lynn (the BEST fabric store ever!), and picked up my dau at her classmates in Swampscott. Of course, I had to also stop in Vinnan Square at Marshalls - that one is so much better than ones closer to me:-)! My sister-in-law is from Nahant. We owned our first house in Salem before moving here, so I really know your neck of the woods well! I wish I had found this thread earlier, but am glad I'm here now!

Thanks for the tip to check the Navigators - I see the wine tasting on that cruise was offered the day at Castaway Cay, and sign-up was that same day at $12pp. Still wondering whether Palos does offer brunch on a 4-day cruise?

Welcome thebets57! More cruisemates, hooray! Have all your cruises been Disney or have you done a variety of cruiselines? There have been posts about the Palo brunch being on the four day cruise now, I hope they're true because I don't want to miss dinner with the kids either but would love to try Palo's. We didn't get there on our last cruise either. We've done the Wonder one other time and Carnival once (without kids). My husband also went on a cruise with work (tough, huh?) but I forget which cruise line it was. It is encouraging that you keep coming back for more.
bostonlass, thanks for the info with the navigators. I could find a sign up time for the wine tasting (which I've already forgotten:( )but no time for when it takes place, the bridge tour or Palo brunch. If you find anything, could you please let me know. Thanks
goofy601-Glad the firestation tour went well. Hope you were able to take a rest afterward!

Disney Sailor, I hope you're right about the brunch. I would love to know ahead of time so I don't waste time in the reservation line for Palos for nothing! I know I saw the bridge tour in the Navigator when I was looking for the wine tasting. I think it was in the morning sometime, and the sign-up was that day - we'll just have to check our own Navigator. We did this on a previous cruise, and it was fastinating! We brought our teenage son as well, and he loved it - went home and wrote a paper on it for school. For our previous cruises, we've done 4 RCL, 2 Costa, and 1 NCL. We're first-timers for Disney, and expect we will love it based on all that we've read!!

Well, DH came home for lunch and I gave him the GREAT news about having another 1/2 a day on the cruise - he was literally doing cartwheels! There went his bad day right out the window! The possibilities are just endless as to what we can do on this cruise. I am so eager to meet everyone -- still not sure where and now when (makes more sense to me!!). :Pinkbounc
I did not get a nap after the firestation tour - these two have been nonstop all day! Lots of luck for the babysitter! I am amazed how she does it - they all take naps over there -- and she's got quite a little group! She's a wonder and I couldn't do it without her! ::yes::
thebets57 - we all (I think everyone has by now...)have order the lime green pins that say our names on them from the dcl site -- the link was put in these posts by scottohiocpa -- a couple times for those of us (me) who have lost our minds!
:wave2: Gotta run - I have to work out tonight - I totally forgot that I have a beauticontrol party here tomorrow night (yes - on top of everything else)...and had to switch nights at the gym with DH -- Bostonlass - I will glady be a walking partner! That is a big part of my working out - we walk and then do weights...keep me posted! Can we do that work out with Goofy? That looks like fun - but I didn't know if the 4 night has that as well.
Heck - sign us up for everything!! :earseek:

Hi! It's Mrs. ScottOhioCPA:wave:
Count me in for walking also! I love walking around the sports deck when I'm on a cruise! I try to work out on a regular basis at home but the gym gets boring. I'd rather be outside.
For those that are interested in the wine tasting - I'm pretty sure on our cruise it is on the sea day around 3:00 or 3:30. Sign up is when you get on the ship at Guest Services. It is held in Palo.
Not sure if the brunch is always offered, but sounds good to me also.
Maybe we should walk 2x each day!

Goofy 601 - Catherine was THRILLED to make a connection with Casey last night. She was one happy girl (hormones have kicked in, so one never knows......)
I just finished catching up with this group last night by reading all 23 pages of the thread (!) and realized that my cabin is the one Mouse Attack had - #8538! What a coincidence that we would both find this board!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I was the lucky one, as it is in a GREAT location. I had a panic attack at first thinking the cabin was double-booked - I e-mailed her and called my TA etc, etc before I came to the post about her having to cancel. I still can't get over the fact that with the relatively few people on this thread compared to the huge numbers on the boat, we would both be posting here!! We booked so late, I remember being amazed at the cabin choice when my TA called with the details. It was fate I guess!

DisneySailor - Thank you for asking about us. Yes, we are still eagerly awaiting our first Disney cruise! I've tried replying a couple of times and my posts never made it to the thread. Hopefully, this will work.
I haven't had much time lately but I think I'm all caught up on reading this thread. Everyone's enthusiasm is contagious...I can't wait to go!
Someone asked about Bonine and I remember reading somewhere (it could have been on the Bonine package) that you need a pediatrician to determine the dosage for a child but that it's safe. Hopefully, none of us will have to use it!
According to one posted daily Navigator that I read, Palo Brunch was offered on a 4-night Wonder cruise. We would love to do that.
Our DD-3.5 has informed us that she wants to eat meals with the other children during our cruise. I hope we get to spend a LITTLE time with her during the trip. ;)
We can't wait to see you all onboard!

Wow thebets57, you must have been up all night reading these posts. It's hard to believe that our vacation is almost here when it had seemed forever away! What a coincidence that you have the cabin that Mouse Attack had.
I would love to join you all for walking too, if I can drag myself out of bed in the morning. With second seating and all the late night fun for both my husband and I and the kids, it will be hard! Of course, I will need some clothes that still fit when I walk off the boat! Which seating is your family on thebets57? With the exception of Disney1fan2002, we all have late seating (actually, I'm not sure about DVClady). I'm sure it will work out fine, but I'm not used to eating that late at night.
Goofy601, hope your day back to work went well. It's hard to think about gardening with snow all over the ground AGAIN!
See you soon!

Hi again! We have late seating. By the time we booked, there was no choice. I'm not as concerned as I would have been in the past, as my youngest is 12...... Hopefully it will work out fine. This will be our first experience with second seating.
I was just reading the Disney board on cruisecritic.com, and a woman who just returned from the Wonder posted that her husband was deathly ill with the Norwalk Virus!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a little concerned about that!! Has anyone heard that this has been a problem for Disney? She said they were tellling everyone to wash their hands before and after all meals. We were on NCL in January, and they had hand washing stations with an antiseptic cleanser at each port. Staff were stationed to make sure NO ONE walked past without cleaning their hands. This was the first time we had seen that, but did not hear of any flu cases while we were on board.

thebets - I love Zimmans! I totally forgot that we had it and the other day I was moaning that I didn't have enough time to go to JoAnn fabrics. I haven't been to Zimmans since my mom took me a few years ago. I've been looking for fabric to make some pareos for me and the girls so I'll have to go there this weekend.
I wouldn't worry about the ship and getting sick. (famous last words, right?) I'm saying this because just about everyone around me has gotten the bad tummy bug...including me.....so I think no matter where you are you're bound to catch it. Hopefully it will be all gone by the time we board.
I plan on giving the girls 1/2 bonine pill each day starting with the day we leave for Disney. I"m going to give it to them next weekend to see how they react to it but that's what my pedi suggested. I was on the Carnival (old carnival ship) in '88 and was sick as a dog the whole time. I don't plan on getting sick again. Since then I've been on whale watches where the whole ship was sick and I was fine because of dramamine. I'd rather be safe than sorry but I'm prone to motion sickness so everyone is different. I'm not sure how the kids will do and that's why I don't want to chance it.
Goofy - Guess what???? We're going on a Mickey ship!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :) Happy first day at work!!!! Hope all goes well.

Ok! I have no time, but I am taking a few minutes to respond and comment on the last 3 pages:) .
sopandbass--so glad you are still on board. I had sent you a PM asking if you and your family were ok....glad to hear that Isabel (I am assuming that is DD) is ready to make new friends. I think the age 3 is so magical.
SCOTTOHIOCPA- are you still staying at the Radison? Did you ever get you shuttle ressies? I have read on the DCL board that you have to keep calling back until you get the right person, who will put your name on the list. We may not use the shuttle service after all. We will keep our name on the list and let you know in just before leaving for FL. We have a ressie for 10:30am for 4!
Bostonlass--welcome to WW. Yes, I too am counting points. I am doing the on-line system. I like it. I actually ate girl scout cookies and didn't feel quilty:) !! Oh, yah! speaking of loading up the points. I have a great rum drink!! Cocktails in our room!!:) :) . Liz has been very busy. Please let Emily know that she will respond soon.
Thebets57--so glad that mouse attack's room is going to a fellow disboarder. Is your ds going to be in the teen group? (what is the cut of age?) What about the Castaway Cay teen excursion?
Goofy601-- are you children as excited as you are? How was work? Are you in greenhouse? One of my students just started working Friday mornings in a greenhouse. I love it---it is sooo warm!! You will be happy to know that I have started to pack!!! DD needs a suitcase.
Disney1fan2002 - When are you leaving the Boston area? I think we might leave very early (3-4am) friday morning!! If we can get to the Radison by mid-day saturday, I will be happy.
DVCLday--Love the idea of playing the songs on the way to the terminal. I think the best part of entering the MK is the excitment of the other vistors. I am sure the energy is even greater when arriving at the terminal.
Disneysailor-- The documents arrived via UPS!! Both dd and I were jumping around and screaming. DS (who is way to cool to show that type of emotion) called his Dad at work and expressed his own excitment. We want to do Palo Brunch (if offering) and the wine tasting. Walking in the morning......I do not know. I need coffee first:crazy: !!! I think your stateroom is near ours (am I correct? we are7036). If you and Goofy601 go for a am walk...please keep the noise down. I have a feeling Goofy601 is just a little excited about this cruise!!!!
PHEW!!! I am exhasuted!! I need to rush out to my school's Winter Sports Award Banguet. The boy's hockey team is the Maine Champions and one of my students received the highest Special Olympics award offered in the State of Maine....big night!!!

:( :( I rushed home and nada...no docs. I wonder if it's faster when you book through DU. I booked the cruise through Expedia so if anyone else did and gets their docs lemme know!!!! I'm actually kind of glad in a sense since I called Disney on Monday and I still have not been assigned a specific cabin. I know it will be an upgrade since cat. 11's are all out but it would still be nice to know where exactly on this boat I'll be.
Ok I need help from all you veteran mommies out there.....I promised Emily that she can have her very first sleepover birthday party this year. It will be on April 3rd. I first said we could bring her friends to the movies that night but doofus over here forgot that I have a Subaru Forester and it can only hold three of her friends and that's with her sitting in the front...which obviously she shouldn't do at 8 yrs old.
So....................I'm gonna need some suggestions on what to do that's not too too labor intensive and will keep these lil girlies occupied. I thought we could make homemade pizza's but unfortunately she has another sleepover the night before and that's what they are doing. Any suggestions??
Ok i'm torturing myself tonight...I'm watching Emeril....LOVE this show...he just made corndogs and now I'm hungry with only 4 points left. :earseek:

4 points--:) I never have enough pooints at the end of the day! I have eaten so much popcorn the state of Iowa will be honoring me!! The good news and bad news about the point sysytem is that it works and as you take off the weight you also lower your points!!

BostonLass - Have you considered using a motion sickness patch for the cruise? I personally don't have that problem, but I've heard from so many people that this is the way to go. You just stick it behind your ear, and forget it! No worries about side effects or missing a dose, etc.
Travel with kids - I believe the youngest age to join in with the teens is 13, and my understanding is that Disney is quite strict about this. My dd is 12, so she won't make it. That would put her in a group with probably 10-12yo. I doubt she will want to do this, based on past cruise experience. But, the bottom line is that if she makes a friend or two, she'll be happy as a clam doing whatever the consensus is!!

Travel with kids -We still could not get the Radisson to book us the shuttle. Thanks for the offer of holding your ressies, but if worst comes to worst, I'll just use my rental to drop off the family and go back to drop the car at the Radisson. I think they can probably squeeze 1 person with no luggage onto the shuttle somehow. Just in case I can't, I've been going the YMCA and running 2 miles twice a week. :) LOL. If I ran, that would qualify me for extra dessert, right?
I found out why everyone was talking about "Home Depot lime green Mickey's". DW thinks I practically live there (OK- I do spend way too much time there), but I have never seen a lime green mickey. It turns out that Home Depot carries a special line of Disney paint. The paint swatches are in the shape of Mickey! The color to look for is Alien Green. Some DISer stick them on their cabin doors.
We will probably be the last ones to get our Docs. We booked through Carlson Wagonlit and their stated policy is not to send docs until two weeks out because "something might change, and we wouldn't want to have to resend them to you". Oh well, maybe we'll be surprised.

Scottohiocpa - please don't start running yet. DH said that he would be happy to drop us off at the terminal and come back for you. We'll have to coordinate a little more - but since we have a 15 passenger vehicle with 10 people we could even have you ride along with us on the way over to the terminal.
travelwithkids - ok - thanks for the great reputation already! No one is going to want to have this nut case around. I am actually kinda shy until I get to know people - but I feel like I know so many of you already! Your all in trouble! Unless of course you all mess with me and change your DCL pin color - eek! :bounce:
First day back to work was good. We started "spring cleaning"! Go figure - cleaning at home - cleaning at work -- what more could I ask for!?! I love working at the green house - we have our work cut out for us between now and opening...we have started getting in some of our trees and they will continue to come in over the next couple of months. I never thought that I would like this type of work - but it is awesome!
The kids are really getting excited! Every day when I ask Cara (youngest DD) where we are going (meaning to the babysitters) - she says - THE MICKEY SHIP! :earsboy: She's already asking when she gets to meet the princesses - since she's a princess! I've been looking around for a princess costume or cute little dress - she just loves those princesses - princess:
Ok - gotta run - have to get this crew ready for the day! My oldest DD is quite upset cuz dh and I are making her go to school - her brother accidentally jumped up when she was coming down and WHAM - black eye! It's quite lovely! I don't want her to miss school - it's proficiency test time!! Oh well, she'll survive! :earseek:

Well today was a tease to say the least!!! My bf called me at work...he was at home laying tile on our new bathroom floor and was taking a break...anyways......he called to say 1) I got about 5 pkgs from ebay and 2) my cruise documents came in.
HA. Well we did get a lot of clothes from ebay but lemme tell ya I'm gettin' mighty sick and tired of getting these thick ole pkgs that LOOK like our cruise documents. Seems like Holiday Inn sold our name to some company in Orlando and we've been getting pkgs stuffed with coupons for things. I was so excited thinking we'd finally been assigned a room and all that.

Oh by the way...DH, if he has not already, will have read the entire contract that DCL asks you to sign. Any questions, ask him. It drives him insane.....I never read the fine print....I go on blind faith alone!!!!!

I feel like Steve Martin when the new phonebook arrived (am I dating myself?), our travel documents are here!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc !!!!
I breathlessly checked them to make sure our names, dates and rooms were all right especially since my first name is hyphenated and spelled weird (thanks, Mom) and we have a first name for a last name. Everything is in order! We weren't downgraded (my husband works in the travel industry and just laughted when I put that request in) and remained on second seating. Our room is 7598.
The timing couldn't have been better. My dh called today to say that he was going to California TODAY. He'll be coming home on the red eye Saturday morning. Besides hating when he travels, we have eight people coming for dinner Saturday night, so let's hope he makes it ( of course, he'll be sleepiing through his dinner!). Lee, does that Cabana boy of yours do parties of 12? There'll be a big tip in it for him!!!:smooth:

Disney1fan2002 - When are you leaving the Boston area? I think we might leave very early (3-4am) friday morning!! If we can get to the Radison by mid-day saturday, I will be happy.
We are leaving after the kids get out of school Friday afternoon. We anticipate arriving at the Raddison around 4PM Saturday. Just in time to see the Magic set sail!
We got our DOCS today also!!!! It's official! I am high as a kite, we also put an offer in on our dream home and it was accepted today....so for once I have good things happening!!!!!

Boy, the snow is really coming down! What happened to the 70 degrees we had last Friday
Just thinking that we could all meet at Scoops Ice cream (deck 9) right before the sailaway party. That is the deck the party is on so we won't miss it, and Scoops should be easy enough to find.

disney1fan2002 and DVClady- Have either of you done the culinary demonstration or napkin folding? I know activities and times are subject to change, but a recent navigator I saw posted showed these at the same time as the brunch and I'm not sure what to do. My DH was not impressed by the brunch menu but he would be more than happy to hang out and grab the chicken tender things or return to Scoops for an ice cream lunch! Good morning! thebets57, I've been up for a while too. I can't complain though since my husband has been flying all night. He should get in in a couple hours. I've already warned our company for tonight that we might have to keep poking him throughout dinner to keep him awake.
Disney1fan2002- Do you close before vacation? You really must have a lot of packing to do. Good luck with everything.
Do any of you have pets? That always seems to be the most difficult part of vacation planning. We have a bichon and a big fat cat. The cat isn't too bad, but our wacky dog is always a problem.
If you use the code Spring04, you can get 10% off your Disney store order of $50. or more (mine only came to $49. and it still worked).
Have a great weekend everyone. Let's hope for no more snow!!!

Good Morning All!! I DID sleep late.
thebets57--are you dong the parks before or after the cruise? I saw your post for a 4-day wine package. Did you find out how much it cost? It looks like around $20.00 per bottle for the standard package and around $35.00 for the premium package. I need to look over the 3-day menu options and see what they have for wines. I did not see a 4-day wine menu. Did you?
Disneysailor--we have a dog and a cat. The cat is fine. It is ou dog that it is our problem. He is on Prozac to begin with for "companion separation". The fact that I have brought the suitcases into our bedroom has set him into a frenzy. We have to hide them!! We have a house sitter so we do not have to worry about putting them in a kennel. Zip, the cat would love it. Jake, the dog, would die!!

TravelwithKids - I think I only found the 3-day wine package info (my head is sort of swimming with dis details...), and I figured it would certainly be offered on the 4-day. Looked like adaquate choices and a fair price for those not too particular. We'll probably do it. We are staying 4 nights at the AKL before the cruise (wed-sun). I hope this works out, as I imagine the cruise will be a bit more relaxing than the parks - we should be ready for a rest by then!! I'm SOOOO excited about so many things, including the fact that the hotel and cruise cabin are nicer accommiodations than we typically have. We'll be spoiled after this trip!!

Well, the mailman brought the DVD today. DW and I have a busy weekend planned so we can't watch it until Monday night. The TA left a call at my house to say they airborned ny docs out Friday and I should get them Monday or Tuesday. Stay tuned for doc dance details!:bounce:
Disneysailor- we have a dog and a gineau pig. The pig doesn't care who is watching him as long as he gets food. The dog is a Shetland sheepdog who is still a puppy(9 months). She will be going to vacation at my parents house. They have a border collie, and the two get along just fine. My parents are going to Disney for 8 days on Monday and we will be watching their border collie for them.
Also, I found a neat little trick when ordering from the Disney store- if your purchase doesn't add up to the amount needed to reach free shipping, buy some disney dollars to get up to the amount. I bought some stuff for Christmas this way, and the disney dollars will be going on my shipboard account when we get on the boat.
Well, we gotta get going. :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

FINALLY - our documents have arrived. Our great (ha!) travel agency has had them since Thursday - did not call us - our "old" travel agent - called my DH this morning and he went over and got them! I called them MONDAY and they said that they would call us when they came in since the travel agent didn't work there anymore - what a mess! We'll definately be going with a different travel agent if we plan another trip like this!
THEY CAME - THEY CAME - WE'RE GOING ON A MICKEY SHIP! HOORAY! HOORAY!
With all these luggage tags - I can certainly find more to pack! LOL! DH didn't find that too funny!!
I was at a weekend type crop and got 3 out of 4 children's books all caught up! I have one more (the oldest DD's) to finish doing some things to...and then I'll have our CRUISE photos to work on! Hooray - hooray - we're going on a MICKEY SHIP!
We did notice that they changed our room ~ we added my MIL - so our rooms are 6037 and 6315...hopefully that gives a smidge more room with her added to our room! We are definately on 2nd seating - and I'm actually kinda happy with that now - the kids will more than likely do their own thing and we'll eat a nice dinner later on!

Disney1Fan2002 - Where is your dream home? We are in Ipswich. Congrats!!
It is in Hanson. The town I was born and raised in. We had to move to Plymouth 3 years ago, because we wanted out of our Townhouse, we made a TON of money on the sale of our townhouse but still not eneough for a house in Hanson. The money we had to spend took us to Plymouth. I have been miserable and homesick since. Well, we got a surprise when we were told we DO qualify for finaning of the house we want in Hanson. I am COMING HOME!
Disney1fan2002- Do you close before vacation? You really must have a lot of packing to do. Good luck with everything.
No, we stipulated a May 28th closing, because I don't want to have the kids switch school this close to the end of the year. School will end 3 weeks after we close, we are hoping whoever buys this house will let us rent for 3 weeks, or we can just lug them back and forth everyday for 3 weeks (SSSHHHHHH, don't tell Plymouth)Actually, renting for 3 weeks would be IDEAL....because we can take our time moving our things.

Disneyfan - Where is Hanson? Is it on the south shore? I ended up moving to where I grew up as well two years ago. I lived in Beverly for about 15 years and "came home" to Swampscott two years ago. There's something about living where you grew up that gives you a warm cozy feeling :) :) I also love that my kids go to the same schools that I went to.
Well I couldn't take it anymore so yesterday I called Expedia. They said that Disney sends them the documents and then they in turn send them to me. I wasn't sure about this since I had heard different things depending on what TA everyone uses. Anyway, they haven't received them yet from Disney so that's why I don't have them yet. Most likely it is due to the fact that I don't have a room assigned to me yet. I'm going to try not to think about it for another week or so.
We're staying at Disney for two days before the cruise so we're not one of the people at the Radisson. I'm now wishing we had booked our stay at the Holiday Inn Family Suites at Lake Bueno Vista after reading so many good things about it, but I'm sure where we are will be just fine. Since we'll be at Downtown Disney I'm considering taking the kids to the Cirque de Soleil (sp?) but not sure if they'd like it or not. My mom thinks they would but I've never been myself so I can't really tell. I was just going to have us hang out at the hotel the first day since we'll most certainly be pooped from our trip. We leave at 7am from Boston and arrive at Detroit at 9:30am. Then leave Detroit at 10:30am and arrive at Tampa at 12:30pm. Then I drive from Tampa to Orlando which should take about an hour or so I guess. I know I will need a nap and some lunch after all that!
I was contemplating having Emily's sleepover party on Good Friday instead of the prior Saturday since that will be back to back sleepovers for the kids. I'm hesitant because of the obvious but now I'm thinking..........do you think people would really mind? There's actually only one other kid who is Catholic and I know her parents aren't too strict. I guess it's so ingrained in me that you can't have fun on that day that I don't know if I could do it but now people are looking for dispensation for having a hotdog at Fenway on opening day so I'm like if they can go to a Red Sox game why can't my daughter have a sleepover party....
Ok I should start my day. Spent yesterday painting my bathroom and I'm out of energy today. Have to go buy some new towels, shower curtain, etc. so it's basically the fun stuff I have left to do.
ciao!

....but we won't get there probably until after 7pm :(
As soon as I board the ship, I wait over by Flounder's Reef to get Ryan signed up. Hubby is going to run over to the spa. He wants to try the spa taster. We usually get everything out of the way, then go to lunch.
Even when I book directly with DCL I've only gotten my docs once that was 6 weeks before the cruise, everything else was 30 days before. The docs that came 6 weeks before the cruise had a complimentary upgrade. :wave2:
My son started school last week and ended up catching a cold. Poor little guy. Atleast he got it now and not during vacation, so he can enjoy. :earsgirl:

goofy601- Congrats on your docs. There's a lot to fill out there, especially for a family of six!
bostonlass- We took the kids to see Cirque du Soleil (Mystere) while we were in Las Vegas with the kids a couple of years ago. We were in the second row and a lot of the action took place over our heads. It was awesome. It is hard to explain it, though. I don't know if it is PBS, or some channel like that, but there are different presentations of Cirque du Soleil on tv fairly often so that might help you. My kids were 11 and 9 at the time and loved it. It is expensive so I guess you'd have to decide where your money would be best spent.
We will be staying at the Hard Rock Hotel the two nights prior to the cruise. The Magic send off sounds like fun. Hope those of you who make it have a great time.
DVClady- Hope your son is better soon!

We received our travel packet yesterday, including a copy of the fax from disney to the TA with confimation details. TA said documents won't arrive until 2 weeks before (which has been typical in our past experience). Funny how this varies here! After looking at the deck layout, I'm wondering about location of Scoops for those DCL verterans here - does it open to the deck, or inside in the corridor?? I'm sure we will want to be outside on deck as the sailaway party gets going as we meet up. Any thoughts?
Bostonlass - I've heard Cirque du Soleil is amazing and worth every penny. I would be surprised if tickets are still available! We opted to skip it, as there are so many other nighttime options between Wishes, Spectromagic, and Fantasmic (we've got the dinner package reserved for this). FYI, I just heard that Cirque is coming to Suffolk Downs soon (I think July). I believe tickets just went on sale, and I know they discount for kids. You might want to check it out if the Disney show doesn't work out! Where are you staying? We will be at Animal Kingdom Lodge wed-sun before we sail.

thebets - We're staying at the Holiday Inn in Downtown Disney. On Saturday we're going to breakfast at Cinderella's castle, spending the day at the Magic Kingdom and then that night going to O'Hana's for dinner at the Polynesian....hopefully I timed the reservation correctly so that we can see wishes from out the window of the restaurant.
Anyway, I was just looking for something to fill the time the day before. We'll probably get to the hotel at around 3ish and I was originally planning on just keeping it low key and hanging at the pool and the hotel the rest of the night, but from what I've read the pool isn't that great at that hotel. It might not matter though since my kids could really care less about the niceties of a pool...they just want to swim and have fun. Because we'll be at Downtown Disney I figured we could do something there to kill some time so I think what I'll do to conserve $$ is just swim for a while and then walk around DTD to get us in the Disney spirit.
We're going to get between 4 to 8 inches of snow between tonight and tomorrow!!! I doubt they'll be school tomorrow. I'm sooo ready for this trip and for spring in general.
Does anyone know if it costs to park at the Magic Kingdom? Originally I was going to have us take the shuttle but I do like the freedom of coming and going as I please.

Hello All!
Well, wasn't that fun?!? We got SNOW and lots of it! I really thought we were done with that stuff. Ah the joys of Winter.
So - what's the count - only 4 1/2 weeks to go. So much to do in so little time. I have to start pulling all the necessities together. Soap, shampoo, sunscreen, etc. I think that is more of a pain than anything else. Oh - just one more step closer to our trip - hip hip hooray!
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at Scoops! We will have our Dfriend and her 2 daughter's and my MIL in tow - they are eager to meet everyone, as well.
Scottohiocpa - just checking to see if you got everything arranged with your rides to the port - DH said again to remind you that he would gladly include you in our ride! Keep us posted!!
Hope fully we will be able to dig ourselves out of all this snow soon - either way - we're going on the MICKEY SHIP! -- HIP HIP HOORAY!!

Bostonlass, We'll be at Ohanas sat nite also! The info I found said Spectromagic was at 9:00 and Wishes at 10:00 that night - is that what you had heard - I wonder if it is correct? I'd read that it is so fun to see Wishes from Ohanas, but because of the late times, we were going to eat, and then head over to the MK via monorail to get a spot somewhere before Spectro. We'll plan to stay for both and then head back to AKL. We had the same issues with what to do the first evening without a PHP. We decided to go to the Boardwalk, which is fun to see (and free). You can see Illuminations from there - they start at 9:00. Just another option!!
SCOTTOHIOCPA - Meeting up there sounds great to me! I know things should be very festive on deck. I guess we'll finalize as the day gets closer

Hi all!
Picked up some trip necessities today like chap stick with sun screen, disposable cameras for the kids to take to the clubs, water camera, film, etc. Also picked up a box of 24 mini bubbles that I'll bring to Scoops for the all the kids (and any adults, including goofy601's MIL, who want them:) ) to use at the sailaway party! I'm getting too excited already and know I'm driving my family nuts. Just 4 weeks and 2 days until we fly to Orlando!!!!!!! Still need to have my kids make their labels to bring. Hope I can keep everything organized!
DH came home sick today. He must be really, really sick because he NEVER misses work (see why I'm so excited about vacation) not even after having his wisdom teeth pulled. Hope he's better soon and the rest of us are healthy for vacation.

thebets....hmmmmmmmm.....I think when I made my P.S. they suggested that they be at 7:20pm because they thought that wishes would be at 9pm. (this was before the schedule came out).
I wonder if I should change them now? What time are yours for and are you going to the Aloha dinner thing or just the O'Hanas? We're going to just the dinner. I guess I could try to make them for later like around 8ish and just feed the kiddo's something in the meantime.

Bostonlass, Assuming 10:00 is correct (I need to hunt for that info to double-check) we decided to eat and head for MK to see both - figured we might as well get a spot and see Spectro too. (I think this will be our only stop at MK, as we just don't have enough time to do it all!) I just didn't want to be eating that late. We are just going to Ohanas, not the Luau show. I had posted a question about this on the attractions board - ? watch Wishes from beach vs. MK (I'd give you the link, but I don't know how to do it :-). Most people felt that it was better to be inside MK for the Wishes given a choice, and you can't see Spectro unless you are there, as it is a parade. I had a 7:00 PS, and was advised that it would really be rushing to get to MK in time. I tried to push it back, and the best I could do was 6:50. I'm going to leave it at that and wing it from there (probably show up early for the PS). If you don't care about Spectro, and think your kids can stay awake, you might want to eat late and just stay at Ohanas. Or, you could consider what we are doing. There may be the electric light parade on the lake that night (I'm not sure), and you could see that if you had a window table or were on the beach at Ohanas. Good luck!!

....MS said that they didn't mail off the cruise docs yet. That we will get them 2 weeks before the cruise
First time getting them this late.
I just bought an ionizer with night light for the stateroom, to help keep it fresh. The air circulation isn't that great when you don't have a verandah.
Also those of you that are used to a fan or get hot when you sleep, feel free to bring a fan. We bring one everytime, we always find the AC in the staterooms to be not that great. Even the crew says good idea, lol. ::yes::

thebets......I think I'll keep the PS the way they are and we'll just go for the fireworks if the kids aren't totally sleepy by then. You can get into MK if you've already been there that day, right? We'll be there the whole day but if we leave I'm assuming we can get back in for the show?
Still no docs but I'm just going to wait until the end of next week before I call them again. I don't want to be a huge pain.
DVC Lady - thanks for the tip! I'm the queen of hotflashes so a fan is a definite must if the room isn't that cool. I dress in like a million layers here at work because I just never know when it's gonna hit me!

DisneySailor - Thanks for thinking of the group and the bubbles! I was debating about bringing one for my DD12 - you never know at that age if they want to participate in that kind of thing, or if they'll feel "too cool"! I knew she would insist I keep it out of sight until she decided LOL!! Now I won't have to think about it!
Bostonlass - I know you can get back into the same park more than once on the same day - just not sure if you need a hand stamp or not. Make sure to check when you enter in the morning so you'll have the option.

Hello! Hello! We're going on a MICKEY SHIP! Hip HIP HOORAY! Is everyone dancing yet? Yahoo - it's almost here...and I'm not completely packed yet! :Pinkbounc I talked with my friend last night about packing for the trip and she told me that I didn't pack enough stuff - EEK! She said to pack at least 3 outfits per day. I have to go back and find some more clothes - I don't even know if I own that many summer clothes that fit! Oh who cares - we're going on a MICKEY SHIP!
I'll try and post more later...have to get to work! I love it! Hooray --

Goofy601 - Why does your friend think you need at least 3 outfits per day??? I'm really trying to limit what we bring, as in my experience, we ALWAYS have stuff at the end of the cruise that we don't wear, and I honestly try to be very conservative! With this itenerary, it seems to me that we will essentially be in bathing suits/cover-ups pretty much all the time except for dinner. If you have a decent cover-up (not too skimpy) my experience is that you will find that's all you need even for walking around the inside of the ship, etc. Please advise, as with this being our first Disney cruise, I'm wondering if things will be different than I expect. I'm hoping we will just have a total of 4 suitcases (the size just larger than the carry-on size) - one for each of us, and that includes full snorkel gear for us as well (minus vests). Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
SCOTTOHIOCPA
03-20-2004, 02:15 PM
goofy601 - I agree with thebets57. You probably don't need 3 changes per day.
We will be packing 2 outfits for sit down meals - 1 formal for Triton's:cool: and 1 casual for Parrot and Animator's. :) We will probably wear these same clothes to the clubs just before and after dinner. For the daytime we will bring 3 pairs of shorts, 1 pair long pants, 3 t-shirts, and 3 polo/collared shirts. Plus 1 sweatshirt in case it gets cold/windy at night. Mrs. SCOTTOHIOCPA will probably bring 2 additional outfits since ladies require more clothes.
Since the kids will not eat with us every night, they will have one less dressy outfit and one more set of shorts/shirt.
I would say that is about 2 changes per day per person.
You might also factor in the new stuff you will buy too. We almost always buy a few shirts as a souvenir, so we'll start out a little lighter than when we come home. For instance, if Cara gets a princess dress onboard, you might never get her out of it if she's like my daughter was at that age.princess:
Hope this helps.:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Hey all!
Thanks for all the good advice. I just can not go back and add to our suitcases. I am SO proud of myself packing what I have and can not really see any need for adding that many more clothes to our stuff.
We are going to head out to the store tomorrow to see if we can find a jacket or something a little dressy for DH. He is a TALL guy and we have a very hard time finding things that fit him. He's more the jeans and T kinda guy (just the way I like him!!) - but he suggested that he bring something a little nicer along for a nice dinner -- Triton's - so we'll have to see what we can find. It's even better that he suggested it!!
M-I-C...see you real soon...K-E-Y - WHY? Because we love you...hee hee - we're going on a Mickey Ship - hip hip HOORAY!
How the heck does that song go...M I C K E Y MOUSE - Mickey Mouse - Donald Duck - forever hold your banner high high HIGH - come along and sing a song and join the jamboree. MIC - KEY - MOUSE! I think I've lost my mind!

Goofy601,your excitement is contagious! I can't believe we'll be meeting you all in four weeks. I'll probably be a zombie by then because I'll be too excited to sleep the whole week before!
Scottohiocpa, I like your idea about packing less and buying new clothes on the trip. I'll have to share that one with my DH;) .
thebets57, I know what you mean about your daughter and the bubbles. I'm hoping my son will give into some of that Disney magic, blow some bubbles and forget he has to be a grumpy teenager for just a bit.
Sopandbass, sorry but we didn't do any of the spa treatments on the last cruise so I can't help you with your question.
My Disney store order came today but unfortunately the packing they used shrunk my dress on the way and it just won't fit:crazy: . Guess it has to go back, but the shirts I ordered for my dh and myself fit fine. Guess the packing material only causes the part around the hips to shrink. Oh well, since I can't squeeze into it, one less thing to squeeze in the suitcase.
Good luck with all your packing and trip prep! See you soon!!!!

BWAHAHA did I say I was packing two weeks ago? Nope, not me, I never said that! Still not packed, car needs $600 worth of repairs, and we are having house showings left and right since we put our house on the market...me thinks these 4 weeks are going to FLY by! Boy, I can't wait to get on that SHIP.
Disneysailor, don't you just HATE when clothes shrink in transit? The nerve of these companies!

Hello everyone!! I had to read over three pages of entries to get caught up!!::yes:: .
Way back in June when we booked this cruise, I was so organized and had tons of information logged in my brain. Now, a month away, I can't remember anything. I can't believe it is only 25 days before we leave. (3 more Sundays!!) Remember way back when we were saying it was only 20 more sundays!! (DH job has really sucked all the energy and life out of us!!:( ).
We will meet everyone at Scoops at 4:30 (is this correct?)
Disney Sailor- thanks for getting bubbles. I hope that DS will find a little magic and have fun. It is amazing how a 13 year old can live the life of all 7 dwarfs in one day!!
We plan to do the Palo Brunch. No Spa. No Palo Dinner. We currently have ressies at the Radisson and a shuttle ressie for 10:30 to DCL. The Grill (?) looks fun so we might make ressies for Saturday late afternoon/early evening. HOWEVER, because our trip has been cut short on the end (my work) they are allowing me to have an extra day at the beginning. We had ressies at AKL for April 22-24, but cancelled them. We now think we MIGHT go to Orlando Friday night, spend Saturday at a park (not sure which one), spend that night in Orlando and then drive to DCL Sunday AM (scottohiocpa-if we cancel our shuttle ressie, I will let you know--it is the first shuttle to dcl). With less then a month, we really need to pull our act together and figure this out!!
I, too have done some shopping for the trip. DS had a melt down (which dwarf would that be?!) in the middle of Macy's Friday evening. Ds, on his own, picked out 3 pairs of shorts and three t-shirts (all the same, simply a different color!!) and tried them on. However, when I asked him to try on a pair of Dockers he thought it was unjust of me to have planned a family trip that required him to wear pants to dinner!! Yes, if I had had an apple at that moment, I would have sliced it into 7 lovely pieces and fed it to all 7 of his teenage personalities!! Needless to say, we walked away with the shorts, t-shirts and a hawaiian shirt--no pants.
Wow!! That felt good--thanks for the therpy session:) .
Ok!! I need to go do housework (or maybe plan our trip--that does sound like more fun)........Lee

travelwithkids, your post really brought a smile to my heart. We went to the mall on Fri. (the kids were off Friday and will be again on Monday:rolleyes: ) and he bought 2 pairs of shorts, same shorts two different colors. Then he spent 2 hours walking through the mall with his friend and $100. He found ONE t-shirt and said there was nothing good in the ENTIRE mall. I brought him back to Filene's where he picked out two t-shirts, actually one t-shirt in two different colors. In the mean time, every time my daughter went in a store, she wanted practically everything she saw:earseek: . Anyway, after reading your post,I was relieved to realize that my son is not crazy but just behaving as 13 year olds must.
My husband just brought the Easter stuff and suitcases down from the attic, so hopefully I can start organizing my packing a bit more. Needless to say (close your eyes Mrs. Scottohiocpa:) ) my house is a wreck between the Easter dec, suitcases and vacation stuff all over over my bedroom, not to mention there are five kids at my house right now:rolleyes: .
Good luck with selling your house disney1fan2002. See everyone soon!!!

Hi all, I spent a good chunk of my weekend shopping - fri nite with DH (miraculous to get him in any store), where he found everything he needed at Kohl's!!! I really earned that beer we had on the way home! Today, I braved the mall with DD12 - that's always stressful (!). I find myself saying "give me strength, give me strength......:-). We also managed to find her everything she needed - WHEW!!!! She's grown so much this year, she needs an entire new wardrobe! DS is all set, so I now just need to check my stuff. I feel a bit better with all that out of the way.
I'm getting more and more excited, and talking with all of you makes the planning all the more fun!!!
We're going to try for Palos brunch also, but no spa treatments. I'm also going to register DD in the kids camp, so we have the option if she's so inclined. I looked at the Navigators, and some of the activities look really fun. As I've said before, it all depends on what happens with any new friends she meets.
I was thinking I might run into Home Depot and try and snag a few of the Disney paint chips in Alien Green (they're shaped like Mickey's head). I figured I could write our names, hometown, or whatever we're doing, on them and tape them to our shirts for our get-together. What do you think? Are we putting anything specific on the buttons? (I can't remember from earlier posts) I know if I buy buttons, they will end up in the trash, as I am NOT a saver!!!!!!
Monday, (and work), are looming...............My boss is on vacation this week, and I am filling in for her. There are so many "fires" to contain there right now, I know it's going to be a he** of a week!!!!!! DCL, Take me away..........

Hello All! We're knee deep in snow again! Ah the joys of spring! Isn't it lovely. DH is hoping that it snows the day after we leave and he will not have to worry about salting or plowing any of it! Hip Hip HOORAY for DH!
I spent 2 hours on the computer and telephone - ordering last minute clothes from Kohl's for DH and Eddie Bauer for DH and myself. My eyes are buggy and my ear and fingers hurt. We have DSL and my MIL does not - I had to keep going back to the previous page so that she could know what I was looking at and what DH picked out. She wanted to get us a little this and that for the trip - DH picked out a TIE and DRESS SHIRT! He has NEVER owned TIE! He did not even wear a bow tie for our wedding - WOW! He's always gotten those other dress shirts that do not require ties - I'm excited for him! He'll be so handsome - just hoping that the shirt fits ok -- he's so tall!
My MIL is getting me a massage for my birthday (it's the day we get off the ship) - I'm certainly not going to pass that one up!
MIL also ordered the cutest little Cinderella dress for Cara (for her birthday) She turns 3 - 5 days before the cruise. I can hardly wait for her to meet the princesses. She's going to love the dress just because it has a princess on it! What a little stinker.
My goal this week is to get through work and get the little odds and ends together...toothpaste, deodorants, sunscreen, etc. etc. We're going on a MICKEY SHIP - HIP HIP HOORAY!!
MIL reserved us rooms at the Clarion Hotel - on Merritt Island for Saturday and night - so we'll be close by the following day. We'll be at the terminal by 10:30 so we can get checked in and on our way -- we'll be meeting everyone at Scoops at the designated time - :hyper:
Gotta run - have to get the three little ones up and ready for school and the babysitters...hi ho - hi ho - it's off to work I go!
See you all really really really really soon! :wave2:

I am convinced after reading these posts that Emily is 7 going on 13. Megan, who will be 7 April 7, is the easiest person to buy for. Just buy her some clothes, give them to her, and she'll say "thank you" and that's the end of that.
Emily is a whole other story. Buy her clothes, she says "thank you", then she tries them on and all he!! breaks loose because this tickles or that is too loose, etc. We have gone back and forth so many times to Marshalls my head is ready to spin!!! Shoes are not trip to the park either since she likes them so tight that they practically leave marks on her.

However, she can have no tags, nothing scracthy, nothing that is too tight around the neck, it has to sit below her belly (and she has a belly!!), no elastic around the wrists. DW and I have started to go to the tanning booth so we won't get burned. Does anyone else do this? or is just an Ohio thing since there is NOOO sun in Ohio. In fact, do you know what we call the third straight day of rain (or snow) in Ohio? Monday!!!
I have started keeping track of how many more suits and ties I have to wear before I can spend a WHOLE WEEK without one (except at Triton's). I can't wait to get these things off my neck.

Scottohiocpa - Only 15 more ties! That's a great way to think of this trip! I just love the creative ways we are working down the countdown. I think I'll just go with how many possibilities of accidents until then. DH and I were at the ER again last night - this time with Cara (youngest DD) - she decided that she would take a header off of her brothers bunk bed. I tell ya - this ol' heart just can not take much more. Luckily they tell us - the younger they are the easier they bounce -- these kids are going to put me into an early grave - BUT they need to wait until AFTER my DISNEY CRUISE!
Scottohiocpa DD - my DD is 12 1/2 and her name is Casey. She is very excited to meet others on the cruise around her same age. She is bringing her friend Dani along and she going to be 11 at the end of March. They are both eager to meet new friends.
Cat - Casey says hello. She has been very busy with school work. End of the grading period -- hope all is well with you and your family and we all look forward to meeting you and your family.
immalemon - welcome - welcome! Your dd is going to have a great time. This is our first cruise - but this group of people are fantastic. We are meeting at scoops -- to actually get to meet in person. It should be lots of fun. Our youngest dd is turning 3 a couple of days before the trip and my bday is the day we get off the ship. It's a fun filled adventure for everyone!
Well, have to run - a few more things to get done before I head off to work...I can't even get up the energy right now to count this one better than Scottohiocpa! I'm too tired!

goofy601-Oh no, not again!:( I hope your daughter is doing well. You must be developing a bunk bed phobia by now. At least they put them away during the day on the ship (I think I'm remembering that right anyway).
Scottohiocpa- no tanning for this family. Getting my stitches out today, Dr. wouldn't be too happy to hear I'm going tanning. She's actually trying to convince me to buy some type of sunscreen clothes(???). She claims she doesn't have stock in the company, but I don't know. I'll just have to hope plain old sunscreen and shade do the trick! My skin only seems to to pale and red anyhow so tanning wouldn't do me any good.
Mindy- Becky is looking forward to meeting you in person too. It sounds like there are lots of fun activities planned for your age group.
immalemon-Welcome! How fun to have three generations traveling together. I hope you all have a great time ( how can you not?!!).
Is everyone doing some kind of park before or after the cruise? I can't remember. We will really only have the one day at IOA/US parks before but two nights at the HRH. Last time we did five days at WDW before the cruise and it really didn't cost too much more, but is was January not spring break. This time couldn't convince dh to take the extra time off. Thebets57 - We are staying at the beach club resort. I am so looking forward to it. And the snow in colorado, what snow? This year was not a great year, and winter is over. We will probably get a couple more in, but nothing that will stick. I love the summers here in Colorado more anyway, but we need the snow to keep the summers beautiful.
I just hope we make it to the cruise. I have got some kind of stomach thing where i cannot hold anything, and i mean anything down. Was in ER last night cause i was dehydrated and needed fluids. And to top that off, my DD 4 was just Diagnosed with pnemonia yesterday. UGH. This is only happening because I have bragged about how easy my daughter has been to take care of cause she has never been sick, past a lil runny nose! We just all better get better by the time our plane leaves. Better to get sick now, and get over with it, than to get sick on the trip. Well, hope you all are doing better than us.

immalemon - Welcome :) I can't wait to sing happy birthday to your daughter! Hope she heals quickly from the pneumonia and that you get over your stomach bug. I had a tummy flu that lasted about 4 days and it was no fun.
scottopia - I've had 4 moles removed so far so no tanning for me. I'm bringing 30 block and stayin' in the shade!!!
goofy - omg....I used to have bunk beds for Emily and Megan but I had to take them down after a few months. No one fell or anything but I was worrying myself into a tizzy so it wasn't worth it to me. Megan is my accident prone child...whenever she is carrying anything that might spill you will find me not too far behind her with the paper towels!
I'm starting to sell more things on ebay in the hopes of making extra spending money for the trip.....we'll see how I do.:teeth:

travel with kids,
Thank you so much for the support it makes this whole thing that much easier! He was home in Jan for two weeks on leave but it went by so quick. We are really hoping this time will help us get over the seperation period and transition our dd a little easier. She has had a hard time dealing with dad being gone.
You all seem so enthusiastic and like a great group, my husband actually found this site when he had internet access. I am gonna try to remember to get those disboard buttons for us. I am really glad to know others on board. This is our first cruise and I am kinda freaking between packing and getting ready for dh return home we will not have much time between his return and the cruise.

Bostonlass - call them back - Expedia - and give the heck! Your trip is only a couple of weeks away and you need to have all those papers filled out...etc. You need them now! Sounds like you've been nothing but nice so far -- and sometimes you have to be a little less nice to find out what's going on with people!
DH asked me to post his way of countdown - only 500 yards of mulch to spread before his vacation!!
DH tried on his dress shirt and tie this morning and at 6:20 - he came in the room - turned on the overhead light and scared me and the youngest DD to death - he looked handsome - but it was another rough night with Cara. She gets extremely constipated - now has a fever from it and is just miserable. Ah the joys of parenting!
Is it ever going to stop raining? I think my swing set just sunk another couple of inches in the muck that used to be my backyard!
See you all soon!

Bostonlass-- I agree. You need to call them back, or maybe even have your TA call them back, since they were the ones that set it up with them. The weird thing is that my TA has shown to be a complete moron, so I have gone through Disney since for everything and they are being great about answering all my questions I might have. So maybe if you call back and get a different person??? I got my docs like a month ago.
Well, all , my family is starting to get better for the most part, so I am starting to get excited again.
BTW, we are late seating as well!! I guess I will see a lot of you there?
Well, take care all.....
PS, This year has been a bad year for me, and I am not in the best shape, actually the worst shape i have been in in my whole life. Should I be prepared for a total baywatch sean thing? LOL, I know this sounds stupid, but my confidence is not at the greatest right now.......

Bostonlass-Let's hope today is your day! I have a good feeling about it. I saw the post on the cruise forum from someone who ordered from expedia and just got their doc's so yours must be on the way!! Guardwife and DVClady congrats on your docs, time to start writing:D .

Well you all gave me some hootspa (dunno how to spell that) so I called and wouldn't you know they went out today! Even got the UPS tracking number so I can track the darn things. She said it's 2 day air so I'm betting on Monday. I guess that would be why the Disney gal directed me to Expedia but it is funny how she wouldn't come right out and say that they had already been sent over.
Now the wait...and the wait.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Not physically though. My poor lil one has this big red mark under her nose from blowin' it every two seconds and this morning I woke up with a wicked bad sore throat. (can ya tell i'm from boston with the "wicked bad"??)

Hello All!
I'm suppose to be at the kitchen table working on the paperwork that my work dropped off - so that I can get hours at home while tending to Cara. I keep hearing the beeping that tells me I have a message - so I just had to check...I'm so bad!
SO - will everyone have their documents now? I certainly hope so. I was soooo worried about ours...now I just have to find a few hours to fill out all that paperwork. They ask everything but blood type! Oh well - we're going on a Mickey Ship - hip hip hooray!! :Pinkbounc
Cara's fever finally broke - I don't know if that was related to her constipation thingy or where that came from - but it was high -- ugh - enough to put ya in the nuthouse around here. She is finally getting a little "unstopped" - if that's even a word -- this poor kid - we've been doing this since birth with her and they have ruled out a couple of things and can not say exactly what it might be -- the dr was kind enough to say yesterday - that it "...could all go away once she's become toilet trained." They honestly keep telling us that she had a bad experience with a bowel movement at birth and has since decided that having a BM is bad and won't have one without pain?!? Ah the joys of parenting!!
Well, neither child wants to nap and I have a couple of hours of work to do - so it's off to being the wicked witch of the west...hee hee hee!

Hi!! It's been a crazy week at work (and home) as anticipated!!! I had to read a bunch here to catch up!!
Disneysailor - Thanks for putting together the group list!! Our names are Betsy46, Art49, DS Jonathan18 (birthday 2 days ago - YIKES!!!) and DD Catherine12. I'm having a bit of a crisis being the mother of an 18 year old!! I asked him how someone so young-looking could have a child so old - he said "you just keep telling yourself that, Mom!!!. LOL
Bostonlass - WE DO NOT HAVE OUR DOCS!!!!! I've been so busy, I really haven't even been looking for them. I'll call the TA tomorrow. I get nervous because we live on a busy road, and twice before, our docs have been left at our front door (which is literally on the sidewalk, and a door we NEVER use...) Hope yours came. I can relate to the weight loss thing - it never ends!! I'm down 25 lbs since last year, but still not feeling at a totally comfortable weight yet.....sigh......Dieting and laundry - two things that will follow me to my grave :-)............ I'd love to talk to you about ebay. We're getting a new faster computer hooked up this weekend, and just bought a digital camera. When I figure them both out, I'd really love to give selling on ebay a try. My husband is an expert at buying things from there - he's constantly on it. With private school (DD) and college tuitions (DS) next year, it's going to be our only prayer for any kind of "fun money"!
Disney1fan2002 - I can't imagine how crazy you must be with the selling and buying of houses on top of planning the trip. Good luck, and I haven't started packing yet either - it's just too early for me. If I do it too soon, I lose my sense of organization!! You'll get it done.
Immalemon - The Beach Club is so beautiful. It would have been my first choice (if we had had one!) The pool is amazing there! I've read lots of great things about AKL, so hopefully, we won't be disappointed.
Sheilacat - Another family from Massachusetts!! Welcome!! We live in Ipswich.
Guardwife - Welcome to you too!! Yours is an amazing story. You will love cruising, and it should prove to be the perfect way for your family to readjust. I'm so thankful your husband will be home this weekend. You must be so excited!! I really miss my DH when I go on a rare girls get-away for a couple of nights. I totally respect all of your sacrifices. They arranged an unexpected reunion on the Today show this week with a soldier and his wife/dau12. I was all choked up, as was everyone in the studio. Did you catch it?
Well, I need to turn over the computer to the DS - homework time!! He got into all 6 of the colleges he applied to. The last letter (his first choice, and of course, most expensive) arrived yesterday!! Big decisions ahead!! My brain is really spinning in so many directions this week.........Where is that conch kooler???

I was wondering what happened to Sheilacat so I checked the April 17 thread and it appears she is going then.
We are expecting temps in the upper 60's this weekend in Ohio!:Pinkbounc (Doesn't take much to get me excited).
I had a job interview that went well Tuesday. Everyone keep their fingers crossed! I know my countdown will be how many days left at that stupid job of mine:rolleyes:
And I'm praying that everyone on this board will be/stay healthy in time for the cruise.::yes::
Goofy601 - you're contagious! We're going on a Mickey Ship! Can't wait! :Pinkbounc :bounce:  :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Ok--This whole bathing suit thing--I am looking for a really nice coverall (yes, coverall, not coverup!!:) ).
I hear you all on the bad year. Actually, this past year has been pretty good. The year before that was the worse one ever. This year I have hair and am not ill (last year at this time I had no hair and had to wear a mask for fear of infections!!). When I went to FL last year, I was so afraid that people would stare or say something (people can so rude!!:( ) I was very happy to find that the human race does have a soft side. Poeple treated me with the fullest respect.

Im going to look into it. I dont want to either, but I REALLY dont want my daughter to get stung either. I think I would rather be safe than sorry. She has never been to an ocean yet (we live in Colorado), and I would hate for her first memory to be an itchy one. I believe it is just a little thicker than other lotion, Safe Sea has a USV 30 in it, so I think I am just going to go ahead and get some. Just in case.

Speaking of time, I kept thinking we had lots of time until the cruise. We're delighted that it's so close!!!! In the immortal words of a cruise enthusiast ~ We're going on a Mickey Ship!
We have late seating for dinner so I'm hoping DD-3 doesn't faceplant into her entree due to exhaustion at that time of night.:p

Hi from Mrsscottohiocpa,
Sopandbass - there should be plenty of time to order pins. We got ours within a day or two of ordering!
Thebets57 - congrats on getting your docs! If only docs would come as fast as the pins!
Kids had a day off today. But it's been raining most of the day here:( I think the rest of the weekend is going to be sunnier. DH was home with them, except he has the sniffles now.
Planning to take the kids to the circus (Shrine Circus is in town this weekend) and meet a friend and her kids at the park this weekend. My DS actually asked me if we could do water balloons today! He asks that everytime the temp goes above 50! He was getting so upset because I said no. I said if you want to get wet, just walk outside. He said "OK, let's go for a walk." So what did we do? We went for a walk (with umbrellas). What us mothers do for our kids.:crazy
Take care everyone,

cori4disney-Welcome! It's really like you've been with us all along though since goofy601 has been sharing her enthusiasm about traveling with you since the beginning of this cruise meet thread. You all should have a lot of fun on the ride down. You may have to tie goofy601 down though to contain her excitement!! :D
Mrs. Scottohiocpa- Good luck with that job interview!!
Sea lice- I'm not sure what to do about that one, haven't bought anything yet. I was already having nightmares about the trip last night without worrying about sea lice. I couldn't find the sign up for the Palo brunch and I kept searching all over the ship and ending up at the wrong place. Then this guy asked me if I wanted to all go sign up together, I looked at him funny and he said never mind. I then realized I had forgotten my DIS pin, didn't know where it was and thought maybe he was someone from our group. Strange dream, I'm loosing it, right? The worse part is there are still about 3 weeks to go so between the worrying (I tend to do that) and the excitement (it doesn't take much to excite me) I'm afraid I'll be a wreck by the time I meet you all. Of course, by then I'll be on the ship so for four days, all will be right in the world!! OK, sorry for all the rambling.
Happy packing, see you soon!!!

goofy - The site is www.safesea.com . I had never heard of it either but now I know why....the safesea site has a map showing where they are prevalent and they don't seem to appear in the northeast. :) Originally I wasn't going to buy any because I didn't think we'd be in the water at all.....we're more pool people than ocean people. But then I caught a glimpse of the 5-7 schedule and I think they include at least one activity where they are in the ocean so I'd rather be safe than sorry. Then again i'm a number one worry wart.
disneysailor - I had a nightmare last night too but it had to do with a plane crash. :earseek: Suffice it to say I'm freaked out today. I may just have a bloody mary or two on the plane the day we leave.
Well I woke up wicked late today and my post office is closed. I was supposed to mail out about 5 things that I sold on ebay today so now I have to shlep over to Peabody which is 1/2 hour away to make it before theirs closes. This cold is making me sluggish and wicked tired.

The children in the 5-7 age groups do not go in the ocean in any of the activities. When they play in Scuttles Cove, its located off the water. The only time they get wet and this is from my daughter, "We play with the hose and buckets, its really fun." She told me they dig for dinosaur bones. Sometimes Safari Mickey stops by while they are digging and the ship's photographer takes pictures. I've got a picture of my daughter with Mickey from Monstro Point.

Try http://www.nidaria.com for Safesea. I don't think I am going to buy it for this trip. We used it during our trip to Mexico last October. It is really for the use of jellyfish stings (sea lice is actually jellyfish). It is very difficult to put on! Liz hates it. Maybe I will purchase some and only use if there is a large population of jellyfish present. Does DCL sell it?

Good Morning All!
It's EARLY - I couldn't sleep anymore - and am going laundry (yes, again) -- and I have thoughts of filling out paperwork - checking the luggage - going through the medicine cabinet to get the little this and thats ready for the cruise...this trip is additictive! :bounce:
We're going on a Mickey Ship - hip hip hooray!
guardwife - None of our children received any type of postcard from any of the Disney characters - could it be from your travel agent? Might be you just had a better travel agent than we did - well, I'm sure most people had a better agent than we did! Oh well - we're still going on a Mickey Ship! I am very happy that your husband is making his safe return home. My little brother and cousin were just sent out about a month ago ~ I just keep them in my thoughts and prayers every day!
My friend brought over little Sleeping Beauty "slippers" for Cara - she was tropping through the house last night. I can not wait to take her photo with the princesses - I just hope she's not like her big brothers - and all excited about it until it's her turn and tuck tail and run! princess:
Gotta run and get ready for church! Take care all and see you all really really REALLY SOON!

Goofy601-- you have to request it on the main cruise board
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=460127
I am not sure if you have time to do it now. Maybe request to have one sent for your return. Try and see if one could be mailed ot ASAP! Good luck! My kids received one postcard on Christmas Eve. They were very excited. ......Lee

Hello! Thanks for the link! I sent them a message and will see if it is too late to get a postcard sent to one or all of the kids!
It was a busy day of last minute this and thats. MIL and I bought several pairs of shorts for DH that were way too big -- which is good - so we had to go and exchange those...he found a dress shirt that fits much better...we're getting there. I still have not finished getting all the little this and thats together...but I did start to get my Avon order together...for chap lips, lotions, soaps, smell goods...I'm ready - so ready!
HIP HIP HOORAY! We're going on a MICKEY SHIP!
:teeth: oh - oh I just got a message from the postcard folks - gotta run and see what's up - take care and chat again soon!

Only nineteen days until we all get on the ship:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: !!! and only 17 days until we leave CT, laundry and all our troubles behind!!!
I've started transferring our stuff from my husband's closet (he'll be happy) to the suitcases I've had sitting all over the place upstairs. We have one pretty good size suitcase just for shoes, shoes and more shoes and 2 sets of snorkel gear. I can't imagine packing for a seven day cruise. There are so many different things to do, it's hard to limit the packing. The Easter stuff dh brought down with the suitcases never made it out of the boxes so I think it will just go right back up. The little girl from up the street came over yesterday and asked my dd, "why is it such a mess up here?" I'm afraid it will only get worse. My dryer is not working and we can't get the repairman to call us back. If I let things spin around for about 3 hours they kind of get dry but it takes all day to do two loads of laundry!
Well, happy packing. I hope you all can weed out more than I've been able to.

Wow. Looks like we're the only family on this thread at the main seating. Oh, I feel so left out now! You guys are going to party and have a good time without us every night! LOL
Anyone else stying on the ship in Nassua? We don't plan on getting off, going to take advantage of an uncrowded ship.

Disney1fan2002 - We are getting off the ship to go to the Blue Lagoon. Then shopping, then out to Atlantis for a little gambling. Can you tell we are type A vacationers? I hope we make it back to the ship before she sails! lol.
Enjoy having the ship to yourselves in Nassau!

Bostonlass-CONGRATULATIONS!!! You must be relieved to finally have your docs, feels official now right?!
Disney1fan2002- We will most likely be on the ship in Nassau too. Last time I was really sick when we were docked in Nassau. I didn't get off but my family did and they weren't too impressed. I've been to Paradise Island and Atlantis before so I would rather spend time having fun on board. I'm bringing my Atlantis t-shirt though so I can feel extra touristy. As far as dinner, I hope all the rest of us aren't on different dining rotations. Last cruise we were pretty much seated at tables for our family only. I was really disappointed since my husband and I had fun when we cruised and were seated with others. I hope there isn't some sort of black mark next to my family's name:( . Anyway, hopefully we'll be seated with another family this time and see some of you in the dining room. Wouldn't it be funny if some of us ended up being seated together? Of course goofy601 et al will have be over whooping it up at their table! Hopefully we'll run into you disney1fan2002 at all the other eating places on the ship!
Scottohiocpa- It sounds like you'll have a full Nassau day. Hope you all have a great time!
Well now that I've cleared out dh's closet our bed is covered. Better go get it cleaned off before bedtime.
Have a good night:wave2:

Good Evening All!
It's really a good thing that I am not sensitive...I've got such a bad reputation already. Oh well - I'm going on a MICKEY SHIP and I'm going to have LOTS of fun. :hyper:
Bostonlass - congrats on the docs! With the trip being so close - I would have been a nervous wreck. Your on the same deck as us. I'll try and keep the noise down in our room! Hee hee! :Pinkbounc
Disney1fan2002 - we will all probably be on the ship at Nassau. DH is the only one considering getting off for a bottle of rum. He and MIL discuss going to Atlantis - but he still isn't too sure if he really wants to go. Anyone on if it's worth the $$? Have fun at main seating - at least your little ones won't be sleeping in their main course! Wouldn't it be a switch if you changed to late seating to be with all of us!? They would find that highly unusual since most people are trying to switch the other way!
Scottohiocpa - have tons of fun at Nassau! Sounds like you have a fun filled schedule planned! I'm planning on kickin' back and enjoying the view -- and hey - where's that cabana boy with my fruity little cocktail? :teeth:
disneysailor - we're going BACK through the luggage and putting in some of the new stuff from MIL. She bought us so many great new clothes -- for the cruise! She came in for the day on Sunday and we went to the mall this time - what a dangerous place to go! :teeth:
Gonna run - have to get to the gym and continue trying to get in shape...it's a neverending mess. Ta ta for now and see you all really really soon!!:hyper:

Ok cross that room off the list! Videogal on the main board did me in. I called Expedia and I'm now back on guaranteed status which means I could very well get that same room but if at all possible I told them I want a room with a tub since the girls have never taken a shower. Not that that would be the end of the world but to be honest I think I'd feel very weird about being in a handicapped room if people are that sensitive about it. Kind of like being told you can park in a handicapped spot by a policeman but no one else knows it so they keep giving you dirty looks. (i know that is a poor example but it's the only one I could think of ) This way I won't find out till we board the ship what cabin I'm in but heck........it's something to look forward to!
Goofy..........we're going on a Mickey Ship!!! Trust me...that phrase of yours is contageous and has gotten me through some hurdles this past month!! Thanks for your enthusiasm!!

Bostonlass- I just read the thread about your room. YIKES! I applaud how you didn't get sucked into the whole situation and maintained such a positive attitiude. It's amazing how an innocent question can create so much controversy especially when you had no control over which room you were assigned. Have an amazing time no matter which room you all end up in!

03-30-2004, 03:12 PM
Well I handled it civilly in public anyhow.
I can't even believe Disney let me put myself back on guaranteed status! If I had known that in the first place I would have done that anyways since I really don't want a handicapped room due to no tub. I know that guaranteed means that you have no choice but this is an unusual circumstance. Like I said, I may end up with it anyways but this way maybe I'll luck out in the end.
I'm getting so excited to see the countdown clock look so low! It's hard to think that it's that close for me since I have so much to do before hand!!! I'm stressed out beyond belief!!!!
This week:
Thurs - go shopping with Emily and Megan for b-day presents for their friends' birthday parties. (this will be after 5:30pm and we'll still have to eat and do homework when we get home)
Fri - leave work 1/2 hour early (my boss is not gonna like that!) so I can pick Emily up, feed her and take her to her friend's b-day slumber party. Then work on party favors for Megan's b-day which is Saturday.
Sat - Pick up Emily from b-day party and drop off at my sisters since Megan doesn't want her at her party. Then host Megan's b-day party.
Sun - CCD, then drop Megan off at her friends' b-day party.
Tues night - Clean house from top to bottom for upcoming party. Remind ex for millionth time to bring cupcakes to school for Megan's school party.
Wed - Have b-day party for both Emily and Megan at my mom's house.
Thurs - Host Emily's slumber b-day party.
Fri - scoot all kiddies off to their mom's. Drop off Emily and Megan to ex's house. Get to work by 1pm and work till 9pm since monthly close is on Monday.
Sat - Pack for the Cruise and Disney!!!
Sun - Easter. Go to everyone in the kitchen sink's house and eat till I can't eat no more. REmind ex for millionth time to bring cake to Emily's class for her birthday party at school.
Mon - Closing meeting for month end.

Hello All!
I am getting so excited! If you thought I was excited before - just wait! LOL! I just got home from a Creative Memories class and everyone there had such wonderful ideas for my photo albums (that I haven't even done yet)...my cruise photos! I really want to get busy on those albums - but I have to go on our cruise first! This is SO exciting!
It's so hard to believe that we are almost down to single digits for our countdown. I'm feeling faint here!
travel with kids - yes - I was actually just about done packing. Then MIL took us shopping and now things have got to get redone. I have a very full schedule between now and the MICKEY SHIP -- I was trying to get everything done early and it all back fired on me...but that's ok - because the end result is well worth the agony!! OK - EVERYONE - Say it with me...we're going on a MICKEY SHIP - HIP HIP HOORAY!
Alright - just out of curiosity - who's more excited in your households? The kids? Or the adults?
I'm pretty sure - it's the adults in our house! I'll take that vote tomorrow!
Gonna run - I'm falling asleep sitting up!

You guys are making me so excited for this cruise!!!! I appreciate your positive thoughts!! I haven't had much time this week for thinking about the trip. We're under the gun with the BIG decision of where to send DS to college!!!??? I know we have the oldest in the group, but believe it or not, you'll blink your eyes, and you too will be facing this as well.....I hope we have decided by the cruise, so we can just relax and stop talking about it!!!! Deposits are due May 1st..... I just can't believe my 'baby' is this old! The old cliche, "where did the time go!" really holds true! This will probably be the last spring break both my kids have off together. Sorry guys, I'm feeling a bit melancholy about this whole thing - his 18th bday was a week ago today....

thebets57-I don't know how you do it! I look at my kids (12 1/2, 8 1/2, 4 1/2 and almost 3) and cry like a baby when they reach certain milestones...I can not imagine that step being ready to be taken...I feel for you!! I work with a bunch of young guys at the greenhouse and it's strange when they start talking of heading off to college. Ah the joys of parenting!
Once again it's raining in OHIO! One thing for sure - I'm glad it's not snow - we'd be knee deep if it were. Thankfully - our vacation is only 15 days away!! Hip HIP HOORAY! We're going on a Mickey Ship!

Hi all!
Wow! We leave home in fifteen days, I can hardly believe it. I guess it's kind of like you said thebets57, "where did the time go?"
Well, my laundry countdown may be stalled. After paying the repairman $53, he basically told me that I need to buy a new dryer. Of course my dryer is about six years old and the washer is about 26 years old. I can think of a lot of other things I'd rather be buying but we could be buried in clothes if we don't replace it soon.
Thebets57, I'm getting a small taste of what your going through with your son. My daughter goes to middle school next year and my son is off to high school. I can hardly believe it and it definately makes me teary eyed if I think about it too much.
cori4disney- Did you read this whole thread? That would take a while. I'm glad you and the girls are so excited. In response to goofy601's poll, I think in our house, it's the girls that are more excited than the boys even though my son was the one who kept begging to go on this cruise again. I'm sure dh and ds are looking forward to it but dd told me that she can't concentrate at school because she's too excited thinking about the trip (like mother, like daughter).
guardwife- Has your husband returned yet? If so, please welcome him home for us and give him our gratitude!
Sounds like we'll all be pretty busy between now and the trip. It's hard to get all these last minute details taking care of. Good luck with everything. See you all soon!!!!

Hello!
This is Mr. Goofy601. Thank you all for your condolences. I will be the one by the pool with a nice stiff drink after that long ride. I was wondering how this lunch and breakfast thing works. Are we assigned resturants for those meals? Or do we fend for ourselves. Thanks!
