We'll be arriving on Sept. 21 (13 days!!!) and DD10 has already requested to have her hair braided. She wants the corn row type. Does anyone know where we might find a place to do this? I'm hoping Downtown Disney would have it available. We could get it done on our first night there and then she'd be set for the rest of the trip. Thanks for any info!

Do it at a hair that specilizes in African-American hair! It will MOST definatly be cheaper.

They do not do hair braiding they do a hair wrap..... I think they charge like 1.50 per inch and then extra for the beads and other decorations.
hair wraping is when they wrap a section of hair in multi-colored treads....

I think all the parks have a hair wrapping/braiding, don't know about doing corn rows. I've seen the braiding stations at MGM (near the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set playground) and at the Boardwalk.

We just got back and all we saw were hair wrapping stations but not 100% sure about braiding. I would think though that to do corn rows would be extremely time consuming from what I've heard friends say about it so I don't know if they could do it at Disney. You might want to call guest services once you get there to be sure though.

Some of the resorts have hair salons that will cornrow braid but you have to make an appointment and be sure to specify - corn row braids - as not all the hairdresser's do them. Its very pricey and like another poster mentioned very time consuming. Not something my girls would want to spend an hour or more doing during or vacation. That said once its done its very convenient for a FL vacation. We have a local hairdressing school that does them quick and inexpensive so we have them done before we leave. Many of the "super cuts" or "snip it"s" places will do them as well. IMHO your better off having them done a day or so before you leave so as not to waste precious vacation time or vacation $#$. The stands in the pools, boardwalk or in the parks offer the "hair wraps" not the braids.
If you do have them done be sure and bring alone a scarf, if your dd will sleep with it the braids stay in better and fresher longer!!
