I hope nobody has started the roll call for 9/18/04 yet, I would hate to have it double posted.
Who else besides me is looking forward to that stop in Antigua?
Our crew is large:
Me, Mary, 31...but my birthday is Sept 20 so I will end this cruise one year older;) ;)
My DH, Jimmy
My 2 DS's Bobby, 10 and Tommy, 6
My StepDS James, 16....watch out for your teenage daughters;)
My Dsis and Dbil, Lucy and Frank
My Dniece and Dnephew Victoria, 10 and Anthony, 12
My friends Lucille and Wade, and their DD, Amanda, 8
Hopefully we hit no snags in the next year, because I am looking forward to experiencing the Magic again.

Wow! I almost over looked this thread because it is still over a year away  .
We are booked! We are actually on the Wonder (2 weeks from tomorrow), so my mind is still on that cruise (although I have already changed my countdown timer to reflect next year's cruise).
Next year will be our 5th cruise and our twin DD's 11th birthday (this year they will be on the Wonder for their 10th birthday, a tradition we started when they turned 7, they have been on the cruise for their birthday each year since).
So I will be more 'into' this 2004 cruise once our Wonder 3 Night cruise in 2 weeks is over :( . I am looking forward to the Eastern, we have never been on it before (only done the 7 night Western).

I'm bumping this up in case there are any more 9/18 cruisers out there. We are less than a year away now.
I am getting excited to know that next year at this time I will be celebrating my birthday aboard The Magic, with all the people I love most:teeth:

Just got back from our 3 day cruise, so now I have a year to wait for this one!!!!
A 7 day will be much more fun; the 3 day went by TOOOOO fast!
Well we have a long wait! Nice to see there are others who start thinking about vacation a year in advance!

My DH, DD and DS just got home from the 7 day Western on Magic leaving 9/13. We had a blast. My son was a little young; 2 yrs old. He became friends with almost everyone on the ship saying Hi/Bye to anyone that crossed our path. He especially drove our servers crazy. We happened to see our assistant at breakfast almost everyday. He would yell across the room to her. We booked our next cruise 9/18 on our last day on the Magic. Can't believe we have a year to wait. We booked our most recent cruise only 4 weeks prior. I thought that was a long wait!!! We met some great people. What an awesome adventure. :smooth:

DH and I were also on the Western last week and booked the 9/18/04 Eastern while on board. It is great having another cruise to look forward to. Will help get us through our long Ohio winter. We booked our last cruise thirteen months early and the time flew, so to me it sounds great to say we have less than a year to go. I, too, am really looking forward to Antigua. Several of our table mates booked 9/18 also. Will be great to see them again and to meet new Diser's!

Will be just dh and I, kiddos will be home with grandparents.
Just got off the 9/13 Western also, and had wonderful tablemates, most of whom are I think going to be on this cruise too (hi ragdoll).
We are cruising once before then to the wait doesnt seem too long.

Wow so many of you cruise'd with me and my family on 9/13. I am sure you would remember me if you had any sort of interaction with my son. He was not bad... just overly friendly. We unfortunately did not have any tablemates. We sat at a four top. I was a little disappointed about that. Maybe next time. My husband and I are looking for a cruise to take for our anniversary in May. I want to take Disney with just him. He suggest we try another line. He wants to see how the Disney compares. Any suggestions?

Hi all fellow 9/18/04 cruisers: My DH (56) and I (53) will be on the Magic as well. That cruise will be our 4th DCL cruise. We were on the 6/29 Wonder this year with best friends and daughter. Our children are grown and starting their families. Once our grandchildren are older, they will be sailing with us. Looking forward to more chats with all of you. What a fun DIS meet we'll have. Just from this thread, there are 9 of us. I often check the Unofficial Disney Cruise List and some of you aren't listed yet. Can't wait to meet all of you. Jan

Jan,
Nice to see another DIS Board person joining us on the cruise! What is the "Unofficial Disney Cruise List"?
It is going to be a LONG year. I am ready to go now! But to get my mind off of it, we are planning a short trip to Disneyland in April while we are in San Diego at a convention. So I am hoping that helps me pass the time :D .

OK, we have been moved to the new Cruise Meet Board. Maybe there are some newbies ready to join our group. I know we still have a LONG wait before our cruise, but I am SO excited, I find myself planning all the time.
Right now our BIG debate is whether to drive or fly. We have pros and cons on both sides. One day I will say I want to fly, next day we are driving. DH was all for flying, but now is leaning towards driving.
So this is our biggest question in our planning for this cruise right now.

I am trying not to plan too much so early. We haven't decided whether to fly or drive, that all depends on what we do with our car when the lease is up in April.
We have started talking about excursions. We are pretty sure DH and my stepson are going parasailing, and I am thinking of sending my DS, Bobby, to tandem with his dad. I have heard so much good stuff about the banana boat, so I am planning a banana boat ride.
Hopefully, we can keep this thread hopping, and get some more 9/18 cruisers to sign in!::MickeyMo

We are also booked on the 9/18/04 Magic. We booked while on the 9/20/03 eastern Magic. The only way I would get off the ship is if we rebooked right then and there. It seems we were not alone in that thought. My DH and I do not have children so it is just the two of us. We are looking forward to getting totally pampered again. My husband can't wait for the great food. Me, I already miss Mickey! We booked the same exact cabin as the past cruise. Can't wait!

Oops! I thought I just replied to this thread but it ended up seomewhere else. Oh well.
My DH and I are also set to sail on the 9/18/04 Magic. Our first cruise was the 9/20/03 Magic. We had an "excellant" time. The only way I would get off without a fight was if we rebooked for next year. WE are looking forward to going back. We will be traveling alone as we do not have children. At first we were aprehensive about going on a family cruise with no children, but we had no problem finding quiet areas. We loved the shows at night. We are looking forward to seeing the new Golden Mickey show. WE booked the same exact cabin. We met some great people and are looking forward to meeting y'all next cruise.:Pinkbounc

Hi Fellow Cruises!
I don't know if everyone is still watching the board since our cruise is still 10 months away, but there was a great tip in this thread today:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=465184&perpage=15&pagenumber=1
I booked the Hyatt at the Airport for $24 (plus tax and fees making it around $33 total) for the night before our cruise in September. This is the hotel that is in the airport (that is why there is no 'shuttle' icon listed for this one).
Anyway, I haven't stayed here before, but it has gotten great reviews on this board. Seems like a lot of people use it before the cruise.
Just thought I would mention it since the night before our cruise came up as available.

Hello Fellow 9/18/04 Cruisers: 2004 is almost here and September is not that far off into the future. This past weekend, I booked our flight (Detroit to Orlando), hotel at MCO (Sheraton through Hotwire), limo service (Cartier), and an excursoin on Antigua (adventureantigua.com). We're not too excited! This is our 4th DCL cruise, third on the Magic.
Whatever is decided about where and when to meet on the cruise or precruise night, count my husband, Dave, and myself as being there.

We have decided to 'celebrate' each month on the 18th as we count down to our cruise. We have a sign up in our family room that says '10' for ten more months, and on Dec. 18th the girls will make a new sign for '9' more months.
We have our room booked for the night before at the Marriott at the airport, but haven't book our flight yet. ATA usually offers a good price on flights and we are waiting for that.
I haven't thought about our excursions yet, just excited about being on the ship! Soon we will be saying we are going on the Disney Cruise THIS year!

Now that the holiday's are almost over, I can concentrate on the cruise again. We had a tough weekend here, DH has pneumonia, and my car was wrecked in an accident. But I have been singing a new song lately to cheer me up.

Thanks for the link, Gail! I haven't thought much about shore excursions. We are not really 'beach' people (the only beach we like is Castaway Cay); so I assumed we would probably not want to get off the ship. But I noticed there is a pineapple farm and if Disney were to offer a tour to that, I would be interested in going there.
I wonder when they will have a list of excursions for this trip available. We have never been on the Eastern Cruise, so at St. Thomas we want to take the trolley up the side of the hill to the shopping area.
We are really looking forward to the extra day at sea. On the Western Cruise we went on a couple years ago it seems to be very busy all the time. We want to just relax and enjoy the ship this time.
Can't Wait! We're going cruising THIS year!!!!!

I did a search on Antigua, mostly because my DH wants do know if they have helicopter tours. I found the official Antigua and Barbuda (http://www.interknowledge.com/antigua-barbuda/) Tourism site. There is a lot of useful information here. I plan to start researching some excursions on my own, until I find out what DCL will have to offer.

Aren't we the first Magic cruisers going to Antigua? We ususally do our own "tours" but I don't know how comfortable I will be doing anything on our own here. I did go over to Cruise Critic board and they do have a forum for Antigua that I have bookmarked.

We've made a deposit and we are set to go! This appears to be a popular excursion and we decided to book in case DCl doesn't offer it or it fills up fast. Looking forward to meeing all 9/18 DISers.

As far as the excursion information goes I have seen nothing from Disney as yet, could be to early??? I would think by late spring/early summer they would have some information out. We have followed Jan's lead and book Eli's Eco tour.
I have also started a spreadsheet (so clinical but works well for me) with everyone's screennames, names, ages, relationships and any other information that has been shared in this thread. Well, it is the last week of February and we have less than 7 months to go!!!!
I am anxious to see what excursions will be offered by DCL. I guess we won't know until 60 days from the sailing date.
I am just sitting here buried in Girl Scout cookies (I am a troop leader) wishing I was laying on the beach at Castaway Cay! We had booked the 7 day on this week first and then switched to the September one when it became open. So I am going through one of those, "oh, I could be on the Disney Cruise right now!" blues!
But our time will come! And in September we have 5 families coming so far (maybe a 6th will join us), so it is going to be quite a different experience.

Your family will have a wonderful vacation. And it will be here sooner than we all think. I have friends joining us and I keep reminding them it had to be paid off in 4 months (60 days in advance). Glad to find this thread again. Haven't seen it since I posted back on page one. Glindamood, you can add me and DH to your spreadsheet... Donna and Harry, both 52. We were so desperate for a Disney fix that just last week we booked the May 20 land/sea combo. That one will be our 5th Disney Cruise. Yes, you can definitely call us Disney Addicts. Looking forward to some much needed pampering. Also looking forward to meeting everyone!

I will be happy to add the additional information to the spreadsheet. We are an interesting mix of people from what I have gotten from our post - also never paid any attention to anyone else's list but we are about half and half with just adults and the parent/child combo. I fount it interesting anyway - especially with so much talk of couples doing Disney. We did Princess to Alaska last August - give me the Magic anyday (that is a cruiseline statement, not destination). Can't wait to meet everyone.

Hello fellow 9/18/04 DIS cruisers: We cannot wait for our long awaited cruise. It was great meeting Gail (glindamood) 2 months ago at our mini Michigan DIS meet in Cadillac. We have grown children and 4 grandchildren who will NOT be cruising with us this time! Just two 50 somthings who love DCL. Jan

Hi everyone!
Glindamood, it sure is a small world. In a way we are still neighbors. Michigan is just a stones throw away. And we both have the same cold long winters. It was actually 81 degrees here today. Just beautiful!

Good Day All!!! 21 more weeks and it will be us getting up and heading to the Port. Hope all of you are well and enjoying Spring - it has finally sprung in my neck of the woods. I am envious of Ragdoll's 81 degrees - we were in the 70's one day last week but that is as warm as it has been here and now back to 50's and 60's.
Have a great weekend everyone - enjoy the baseball, softball, soccer, yardwork or whatever you have planned.

We have our "5" sign up in our living room. Everyone month on the 18th we make a new sign to show how many more months are left. Maybe we will start doing weeks over the summer.
I love looking at other people's pictures of the cruise when they get back, but they make me SO anxious for our sailing date!
It does help that the weather is nice now and we have a beautiful summer ahead (and a trip to WDW to help us through the wait).
It is getting closer! I can't wait to see the excursions for our cruise. I hope they come at at 60 days at least!

I sent an email to DCL asking about shore excursions for the 9/18 cruise. I read a trip report today about a poster on jet skis at CC and the fun she and her family had. I also asked about this excursion as it was not listed on the list of CC excursions. I'll let you know when I hear anything.
Where and when is our first official DIS meet? I need to have a visual to keep me smiling .... We had an unofficial mini DIS meet in Michigan a couple of months ago with Gail (glindamood). Any fellow cruisers from the West Virginia area? We're there frequently visiting our kids and grandkids (Morgantown and Parkersburg).

We aren't from Parkersburg, but I grew up in that area! Ever hear of Woodsfield, Ohio? My in-laws are in Marietta (but I won't be there this summer, DH takes the girls and drops them off and drives back to Indiana all in one day for their week's visit).
I would really like to know the excursions too. I am trying to decide what to do at St. Thomas because this is our first Eastern 7 night, so everything is new to us.
At Castaway Cay we will be trying sailing. DH is taking sailing classes so that he can do that while we are there.

Hello fellow 9/18/04 cruisers:
I contacted DCL this week about the Antigua excursions (even though we already booked the eco tour direct) and info about the personal watercraft (jet ski) excursion on CC. This is DCL's response:
The shore excursions for Antigua have not been finalized yet. Please check periodically with our
Special Service Desk or website for updated information.
The Personal Watercraft Tour on Castaway Cay is for our guests 8 years and older. However, this
shore excursion cannot be reserved in advance. Arrangements for this specific excursion can only be
made once onboard the ship at our Shore Excursion Desk. Following is a description for you:
Get to know Castaway Cay like a native! A knowledgeable guide will take you on a fascinating eco
adventure via personal watercraft as you learn about the area's abundant marine life, unique ecology
and storied history. First, your guide will lead the way to a scenic stop amid the mangroves, where
you'll learn about Castaway Cay's intriguing ecosystem. Then, it's off to a second point of
interest, where your guide will describe the colorful history of The Bahamas and the unique island
marine life. You may ride either single or in pairs on this exciting journey-why not make it a
family affair? The entire adventure, including Personal Watercraft instructions will last
approximately 1 hour. It is recommended to wear water shoes or sandals, as well as eyeglass straps.
Riders will board the watercraft from the water.
Cost Per Person: $95 single riders $160 double riders
To ride, you must be at least 8 years old. To drive, you must be at least 18 years old. If you are
16 or 17 years old and wish to drive, you must obtain authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
Age Requirements: No one under 8 allowed on this shore excursion due to age limits and safety
concerns.

We are a hair over 4 months away from our cruise, and it finally becoming real to me. I am thinking about final payment, and scrambling to get a better deal or an upgraded cabin at a reasonable price. I am currently shopping some TA's and I will probably call Costco, because of all I have read on the boards.
I have been occupied with another Disney board lately. It called All Things and WDW (http://allthingswdw.conforums.com/index.cgi) stop by and check it out.
But now that things are flowing smoothly in my life, I am back at DISboards and ready to plan this cruise.
To excursion or not to excursion, that is my question now. I am thinking of just winging it in Antigua and St Thomas, sightsee and maybe hit the beach, but mostly take it easy.
So, what is everyone else doing to prepare? And has anyone made their dreaded final payment yet?
I look forward to getting to know everyone better as the cruise approaches:chat:

:wave2: Hope all are having a good spring! It's 34 here in Cadillac this morning but heading out to mid-fifties, things are turning green so we have said good-bye to winter for one more year.
Anyone getting excited about our cruise besides me? I have been reading the board and trip reports daily - even all the negative ones. Doesn't scare me - bring it on! Having cruised Princess I can report that my experience has bee better on the Magic!
I followed Jan's path and tried to find out about the Antigua excursions, emailed Disney and they still don't know. I figured if they knew what was being offered in PR that Antigua should follow soon. The response had nothing to offer as to when they would be avialable. DH and I are booked on Eli's Eco Tour but I would still like to know what they are offering.

The cruise is getting closer :)
Havent had too much time to think about it yet as we are getting all prepped to take the whole gang on the June 5th Western. When we come back from that I will make final payment and the time will just fly by those last two months.
We always like to do a St. John snorkel trip while at St. Thomas. Havent thought about any of the rest yet and will probably just lay around at Serenity Bay while on Castaway Key since we are doing a bunch of busy stuff there with the kids in June. That and stuff my face with food at Cookies Barbeque.
We booked the August 2005 repositioning cruise through the canal, anyone else on that one?
glindamood
05-15-2004, 08:58 AM
Jeanne - have a great cruise, you only have to wait 3 weeks to see the Magic in person. We didn't book the repositioning cruises, while I would love to do it (that is a week's worth of sea days) we are going to wait and take the entire family on 12/17 Western next year. Taking DS out of school for 2 weeks is too much and missing the first day of high school would not be a good idea either.
We will be right with you on Serenity Bay - soaking up the rays.
Have a great weekend.

Hi everyone! Jeanne, I've been thinking of you and Eric and your June cruise. Harry and I are kind of in the same boat you guys are. Haven't had much time to think about our Sept. cruise because we are booked on the 5/20 land/sea package. Life has been crazy for us and we really felt like we had to get away. To tell you the truth I'm not at all prepared for next weeks vacation but looking forward to it. Figure I will just throw stuff in a suitcase the night before and make due. We really need to relax. It will be a very casual vacation for us. We will definitely have to meet up on board in Sept. We really enjoyed your company at dinner last year.

Stephanie, so glad to hear you are doing well.
Let us know when the baby comes!!
Disney store online has lots of stuff on sale for babies. Bet he will have so many things he wont get to wear them all.
There is probably a way to request certain dinnermates. I know when we cruise with all our family we are all linked and get the same table. I am all for that one, we are gonna want to chat with you guys anyhow. I am just not intelligent enough to figure out how to do it.

I might ask when I call to make my final payment then, if there is a way to sit with y'all, or near you. There's just the 4 of us, mom, Andy, myself, and the baby.
if not, there's still plenty of time for a meet and greet! I'll definitely post/email when the baby comes!

We will be on this cruise with 3 other families and what we did was get a list of all of our reservation numbers, then one person in our group contacted their TA and gave them all the numbers to be linked for dinner (we all used different TAs for reservations, but that didn't seem to matter).
So I think what you guys would have to do is "PM" each other or send private emails and exchange reservation numbers, then one of you contact your TA and have your numbers linked for dinner.
This is our first time doing this, so I am 'hoping' it all works out. There will be 17 people in our group, so I think we will have to have 2 tables. We are usually by ourselves, so this will be quite different for us.

DS or DS and his girlfriend may be with us. Right now they are in the middle of a breakup so I gave him a week to decide. How about we decide how to go about it and how big of a table we need when Jeanne gets back from her June cruise?
Have either of you corresponded with our other tablemates? I remember the couple from Tennessee saying that they might consider this cruise. It would be great to see them too.
Talk to you all soon.

Tina and Doug went earlier this year, so they won't be on the September cruise. I have kept in touch a little via email. I think it would be great if we could arrange to sit together. You calculated correctly. I just went to the PS Calculator website:

and put in our sail date and 7/20 came up as 60 days. We know which excursions we want to sign up and we do want the morning excursions (I assume the afternoon ones are the last fill up), so we are going to sign up as soon as we are able to do so.

Hi all! I just finished sending emails to those that gave me addresses today (sorry to be so late). If I forget to ask you - let me know if I can add your email to the list - I don't want to do this without your permission. Hope I didn't leave anything or anyone out - please let me know what else you would like added and we can just keep expanding the list. I will send out every week or so with additions and revisions if I get any.
There were a few names on there that I got from the cruise list but I think I will remove them - we have not heard from them here. You can tell which ones they are because there is nothing but a name.
Have a great evening!

Add another one to your list! :)
It will be myself: Karen, 34 (by then) and my DH, Joe 37. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise. Like many of you, and we booked last September , (we were on the 9/6 cruise), but I didn't know about this board until recently. We've always cruised in September to be on the ship on our anniversary. We're missing it slightly this time (our anniversary is 9/11) because the special cruise sounded exciting.
Yippee, less than three months to go!

Welcome Karen! I will be happy to add you to the list and send you a copy. Could you email me your email address - I did the list in Excel and can't attach to PM's. Also let me know if you want me to add your email address to the list.
10 weeks from this very minute we will be landing at MCO!!!

I just checked DCL's website and noticed that DCL is stating that when we are at port in Antigua, the ship departs at 6:30 p.m. instead of 5:30 p.m. The St. Thomas departure time is 4:45 p.m. - prevously 4:30 p.m.
Thanks for the spreadsheet Gail. I noticed that Dave and I are the oldest cruisers! I was just a kid a few years ago!

Can you all believe that 10 weeks from today it will be us waking up and heading toward the terminal??? We will get through the rest of summer and school starting fast enough and then we can haul out our suitcases - although I do have a stash of items that I have been collecting.
Jan - glad you got the spreadsheet open, I would have done it is Word and maybe I still should. You and Dave are not alone in the older generation, Dave and I are right there with you!
Have we decided on a DIS meet time (s) and place? Having done this before I do suggest early in the cruise so we can match faces and names during the week. Saturday always seems so hectic to try and meet up but if we tried Saturday and then maybe again on Sunday for those that we missed???
Everyone have a great weekend and enjoy your family and other activities.

Just booked our air last night!!!! That is really making this feel real! I'd been putting off doing that because my DH has just changed jobs and while he loves his new job dearly, its loooong hours and I wasn't sure if we'd need to rebook for some further time. But over the past week he has repeatedly stated we're going - so We ARE!!!!! :) (I've sure been hoping!)
Coming from Seattle, we're losing all of Friday - we leave at 8:18 am and get in at 6:24pm! Thinking of staying around the airport for convenience - last year we got in around 9pm and it was nice to stay at the Hyatt. But its pricey. Wondering how we'd catch the Disney buses if we stayed at a different hotel - any advice? We've always used Disney transfers and for 2 people, they tend to be the cheapest.
On the trip home, we don't leave until almost 7:30pm, so I'm thinking we'll either head to WDW for a short bit, or finally do a tour of the Kennedy Space Station (which I know would require a car rental). Any suggestions?
Karen, doing a happy dance!!!!!!

Karen - we are getting in around 6:30PM and renting a car. I experimented with Priceline for this trip and ended up with the Holiday Inn Select for about $40.00. We will go to dinner, drive to the port in the morning with a Pepsi/beer stop and hopefully a chance to stop and see Shirley at her shop. For the two of us in a mid-size it is less than the transfers plus we can stop on the way as we choose.
I know that there are folks that stay at hotels around the airport -select a one with free shuttle service and take the shuttle back to the airport in the morning. Or, try Priceline for the Hyatt. There are past threads that explain what to look for when selecting the options so you really end up at the Hyatt - and probaby Barb's website too.
Kennedy Space Center is very interesting - we went in 2001 before our reunion cruise. It was a very interesting place.

This week I made our final payment!:teeth:
Now it,s only a matter of time. I am researching excursions, I will probably book through DCL, I want to try the Jolly Roger Pirate Cruisepirate: I think the kids would enjoy it. And they recommended to me that I go through my cruise line rather than booking directly with them.
I have my DCL PassPorter out almost all the time now, and I am starting on my packing list. My Daisney box is bursting at the seams with toiletries and other sundries I have been collecting.
I am trying not to get too excited just yet, I don't want my kids to miss out on the fun of the summer. Before you know it, school will be starting, and we will be heading out to the World.

Hi Jan!
Just got back from a week at WDW, so I am only now seeing the posts for the past week.
You will love room 5520, we had it last year. We won't be 'neighbors' next to each other, but on the opposite halls from each other (but still very close).
Now that we are done with our summer WDW trip, I will be focused on our cruise! I can't wait!!!

I didn't notice, is there something set. I have been gone a while, so I haven't read all of the messages first.
Maybe if nothing has been set yet, those who have been to a 'met' could tell us what their other groups did in the past.

In the past, if you book a 7 night cruise while on board you get 10% off (the DCL price) and a $200 onboard credit.
I don't know what they offer for the 3 or 4 day, but it didn't include the 10% off, just an onboard credit.
I am not sure if they are still doing this, it was what they offered last year when I booked.

On our cruise last August, we had a meet, which I unfortunately could not find:( in the Promenade Lounge. I did find the lounge after dinner later.
Anyway, the meet was organized by VerandahMan. He had a banner, and it was at a set time in a set place, and was just a "hi" and "nice to put a face to a name" session. So anyone who might be worried about meeting, have no fear. It's nice to meet and have a familiar face during the week.
I think we should put our heads together and come up with a place and time, and go with it. If anyone doesn't feel comfortable meeting, no big deal. And anyone who wants a meet can be in a certain place at a certian time. And for shy ones like me, a pin, ribbon, or whatever, means I am open to meeting, but too shy to approach.:bitelip:

I'm all for a meeting - like you said, just to put a face to a name. I definitely think we should plan something, maybe on one of the days at sea? it doesn't have to be at night either, it can be midafternoon or something. maybe everyone grab food at one of the snacky places and sit together on deck to chat?
if there's no official meet & greet, I'd still love to meet some people, anyone who's interested. =)

I'd love a meet and greet, too! I like Ambermomma's idea of meeting on deck. I think around the Goofy pool could be fun, though I don't know if we'd find enough space during the afternoon. A meeting early in the cruise would be great. That way we'd have the whole week to wave at eachother in the halls :) Either Saturday afternoon, maybe before the boat drill, or Sunday sometime would work for us. We plan to be some of the earliest people on the ship! :)
Seeya real soon!

I think I have read that some groups meet right after the 'drill' on the first day up on deck 9. Maybe around the Goofy pool. That is usually a 'low' time as there are no activities for the kids yet, and most people are done making reservations for the spa and Palo.
Just a thought. What does everyone think?
DJ

07-12-2004, 12:15 PM
That sounds like a plan. We could meet in the lull that follows the drill, and precedes the Sail Away Party. That way, we can meet, say hi, and get right to the party without missing a beat.
glindamood
07-12-2004, 12:30 PM
Saturday after the drill and a trip back to the cabins to return life jackets works for me. Goofy pool area is great - port or starboard side? Since the sailaway is at 5:00 it will be very quick but that is what we are looking for I think.
I would also like to suggest lunch - Lumiere's, Topsiders inside or on deck somewhere with our trays would be fine. Doesn't even have to be lunch - a Scoops party would be fun too. That way we can have an extended visit and those that can't make it on Saturday will get another chance. Sunday maybe???

When we cruised in May we had a DIS meet in The Promenade Lounge before the drill at 3 o'clock. It worked out really well because it is a smaller area and not hard to pick out DISer's. Also it was nice and quiet. Personally, I thought it was a great spot to meet. Any time would be fine with me. Whatever you all decide DH and I will be there!

I could probably meet there, but DH would have to be with the kids somewhere (probably up at the pools). There is not child care provided at that time, so the kids need a parent with them.

Oh, I just assumed that since it is a 'bar' that kids were not allowed in that area.
If kids can come, then we both could be there. It probably would be less crowded than at the pool, and the pool will be covered at the time after the drill because of the Sail Away party.
So this would work for us!

Last cruise, most of us went out to Home Depot and picked up some Alien Green, Mickey Head paint chips and made name badges out of them.
It was easy to see who was Dis with these on. But beware, there were so many groups with so many different type name badges....and it seemed that a lot of them used those Mickey Head paint chips in all different colors, so it did get a bit confusing on the first day.
I have a PassPorter name badge pin, which I normally strap on my camera bag on vacation. It's lime green, like the color normally used by DISers when having a meet.
If anyone has any ideas, or would like to borrow ideas from previous cruisers, speak up! Let's settle on something so we can all plan for it.:teeth:

We don't have a Home Depot here, so I wouldn't be able to get those. But it does sound like a good idea. Maybe I would send someone a self addressed stamped envelope and they could pick up some extras (if anyone would be willing to do this).

I think we need a Plan A for our DIS meet (which can change to Plan B or C or D..... if it doesn't work). Just something for people to plan.
I like this idea after realizing that the Goofy Pool will be covered right after the drill, and that this would give us a more cozy place to meet. I also like knowing we can bring the kids and they can meet before going into the Club/Lab that evening. Is everyone alright with this?......

Our September 18, 2004 DIS Meet on the Disney Magic can officially be (unless changed in the future :earsboy: ):
<b>On Saturday, September 18th, 2004, all DIS Board Members can meet and greet each other in the Promenade Lounge (on deck 3, I believe) at 3:00 pm. Afterwards we can go get ready for the drill and Sail away party.</b>
This really is a good time, because it isn't a busy time (most people just looking around). There is no programming going on yet, and many people are on deck 9 at this time).
So should we make this our Plan A for now?

Yes, that is "Plan A".
I think we are trying to get Alien Green Disney samples to make name tags (these are at Home Depots).
I assume we cut these out (and don't wear them with the white borders), is that correct? And we just write our names on them?
DJ
DisneyNutMary
07-14-2004, 09:50 AM
and use a marker to write your name on them.
Someone on our cruise last year made buttons with them. I guess he must have a button maker at home. They looked really cool.
The biggest problem with them is how to attach it to yourself. Last year I used double sided tape, but I am looking for a better method this time. So if anyone has any ideas, I will be glad to hear them.

BTW, My DH drove me to Indianapolis tonight (a little over an hour away) to find a Home Depot. The had exactly 4 of the Alien Green Mickey paint samples left! So we are set! I just hope I don't mess any of them up since we won't have extras now. I wonder if other Hoosiers have been there to pick them us as well. The other colors seemed to have more samples. ::yes::

Our cruise has just been canceled! My DH started a new job in June. We had booked our cruise last September but I'd been carefully not getting excited because I knew he was looking for a new job and he might not get vacation. When he started I'd asked him to check and make sure it would work. Early July I asked him again if all was good - could I start making plans. He said "YES". So I did - I booked airfare, transfer, hotel, rental car. And yesterday he finally got around to sending out the official notice of his vacation, and today the word came down - a definitive NOOOOOOO. We are not going!!!
I love my DH dearly, but why couldn't he have asked when I asked him to, before I let myself get excited? I am sooooo soooooo soooooo sad!

On Saturday, September 18th, 2004, all DIS Board Members can meet and greet each other in the Promenade Lounge (on deck 3, I believe) at 3:00 pm. Afterwards we can go get ready for the drill and Sail away party.
I am not aware of any further plans beyond this. Someone did mention something about meeting at DTD the day before the cruise (but we are not getting in until late that night, so I forget those details).

My DH Was _supposed_ to have checked on this during the interview process, and I thought he had, but it turns out that although he mentioned it, he hadn't explicitly said "I must have the time off" - he thought September was far enough from June 1st. (NOT!)
So, we've now pushed our cruise back to September 10, 2005. If any of you happen to rebook for September of next year, perhaps we'll meet you then.
Have a great trip!

Can't wait - only 8 more weeks and it will be us waking up in hotels, eating breakfast and heading to the ship!
http://www.local6.com/wxcam/1808263/detail.html
Stopped at Home Depot last night and picked up a few Mickey heads (alien green I think) to make nametags from. Jo Ann Fabric had some foamboard (pretty thin) that I thought I would mount it on to give it some substance and will then glue a pin backing on it.
Now to work on a door sign...

Let us know how this works for the name tags. I am not a 'crafty' person and just don't think up things like this on my own. If this works well, let us know so we can try it.
Thanks!

Whats with the door signs? I've never seen a personalized sign on doors, but then again this is our first Disney cruise.

I tried one local Home Depot today for the alien green Mickey heads. They were completely out of all shades of green. I'll probably try the other Home Depot tomorrow after church.

I'm making special tee shirts for our trip. I used the mouse ears from home depot.

Looks like I need to head to Home Depot this week to pick up Alien Green paint chips. As I am creatively challenged, I will probably just hold them up so you'll know I'm a DIS cruiser.
Last year when we cruised on the Wonder with friends of ours, we had photos on our doors. My friend who had the photo department of Meijer (similar to a Super Walmart) make them into window clings. It was great for us and our 7 year old goddaughter to easily find our staterooms.

Hello fellow cruisers! I just read a tread that someone sailing on the 09/04 cruise got their documents - that means our should start coming in 2 weeks. I booked on points so I don't expect mine so soon but shortly.
Name Tag tip - if you are trying to get the chip off of the card and the microwave doesn't work too well for you (didn't for me) try your hair dryer. Start to seperate and point the hair dryer between the chip and the card - worked much better for me.
Anyone else want a copy of the spreadsheet? Just send me a PM with your email and I will be happy to send it on.
Have a good week!

Yes DJ, that does sound wonderful! I have been so busy with my new DGD and my two year old DGD that I really haven't had much time to get excited. DH and I definitely need this vacation. Trouble is I'm sure that we will feel that we really need another one just a few months after this one is over.
Guess I need to start looking forward to this one instead of worrying that it is going to be over soon. I always say that the excitement and the planning is half the fun of the trip. I seem to be missing out on that part this time. Still need to get those green Mickey heads from Home Depot...

My TA knows less about DCL than I do (won't ever use them again!). I'm wondering if they'll wait until 2 weeks prior to send out our documents.
Anyone know if the people who are getting their docs early booked directly through DCL.

I saw that post, I am hoping our docs don't come too soon, I don't want to sit around starting at them while our cruise is still over a month away.

It will be exciting to get our Docs! It is starting to sound closer and closer.
I can't wait to sit on deck 4 and look out at the ocean! That is our favorite spot for relaxing!

Can you believe that we are down to 6 weeks??? School starts at the end of the month here but the sports practices start this week. I just can't believe that it is the second week of August already.
I thought I would update the spreadsheet and send it out mid-month again. We had some additions and corrections - or did everyone just update the first one I sent? Let me know I will can resend.
Heading to Staunton, VA tomorrow for work so everyone have a good week!

Thanks again for the great info

Just thought I would post our DIS Meet info again in case anyone missed it:
<B>
On Saturday, September 18th, 2004, all DIS Board Members can meet and greet each other in the Promenade Lounge at 3:00 pm. Afterwards we can go get ready for the drill and Sail away party.
This really is a good time, because it isn't a busy time (most people just looking around). There is no programming going on yet, and many people are on deck 9 at this time).</B>
Don't forget your alien green Mickey heads from Home Depot for name tags (still haven't made mine yet).
See everyone there!

Yes, Welcome! And we hope to meet you on the cruise!
I can't believe that 5 weeks from tomorrow we get on the plane for Florida!
Is anyone else staying at the Hyatt at the airport the night before the cruise? This will be our first time staying there, I am anxious to see what it will be like.

I guess with the problems today at mco, it pays to give yourself enough traveling time to the cruise and back to the airport. Since we are going in hurricane season, it is best that we prepare for the weather. I know that we don't want to think about something like this, but it is a real concern. Just remain prayful and trust God that everything will work out alright for us. :goodvibes :umbrella:

Good Morning all! I feel so bad for the people of Florida that were in the storm's path - I can not even imagine what that was like or what it would be like to loose everything as some did - not to mention the lives that were lost as well. Mother Nature is very powerful.
One of my tasks for today is to update the list and send it out again - we have had some additions since the early lists that went out. I had asked everyone if I could add their email addresses to the list and I don't think anyone told me that I couldn't so I will do that before I send it out. DJ - I will also send you what I have for a door sign for the birthday girls.
No docs here yet - I even went into the office yesterday to see if they had appeared there but nothing was on my desk. Maybe this week.....
