*Saturday August 30 2003 The Final Day*

The saddest day of all has arrived, it is 5:00am, and I just stepped out onto the verandah to see the Magic has just turned up the Port Canaveral channel. In a few short hours, we will have to disembark this "MAGICal" ship. I have to finish putting the last minute items into my back pack, and wake my girls up shortly so we can get ready for our last meal on the August 23-30, 2003 Cruise. I have had the best time this past week, and have met some of the most "WONDERful" people, and "ALL" the "DCL CM's" have been "MAGICal" as well!!! A special thanks to all my "DIS'ers" who helped to make this cruise so enjoyable, now if only Travis (mostyn17) would have come forward, so that I could have met him, that would have been icing on the cake!!!

We got to say a final farewell to our tablemates Ian, Tina, and Grace Parkes.

and to our serving team: Head Server - Tommy from Norway

With one final salute from "Captian Verandah"

http://www.verandahman.com/August%2023-30,%202003%20DCL%20Cruise%20photos%20420.jpg

we headed for the gangway,

http://www.verandahman.com/August%2023-30,%202003%20DCL%20Cruise%20photos%20429.jpg

and left the ship at 8:55am, it was reported that screams were heard from one "Captain Verandah" as he was leaving the ship, "Heck no. I won't go! Heck no, I won't go!

*The Trip Home*

After picking up our Avis rental car, we stopped and visited Shirley of "The Perfect Gift" for a few minutes at her store, then it was on to "DIXIE CROSSROADS" for some "ROCK SHRIMP." Upon arriving we found Lynn (moosysmom) already waiting for us. The Rock Shrimp tasted as good as ever, and we shared some laughs around the table, Lynn is such a sweetie!!! After lunch we headed for the Orlando Airport for our flight home.

At the airport, my DD found an internet computer, since we had over two hours until our flight, I had to get on and make a few posts to the DISboards, fancy that!!! I found the "Welcome Home Verandah Man" thread and made a post, then headed back to sit with my family while we waited for our flight.

While my DW was headed to the Mc Donald's in the airport for a soda and some fries for our DD, I headed towards the restrooms. Remember now, I can't see very well without my glasses, I walked into the restroom, and thought to myself, this is very strange, there aren't any urinals, only stalls. As I started to go into one of the stalls, my DD comes running into the restroom screaming, "Dad, you're in the Ladies Room!!!" As I walked out and headed towards the Men's Room, I could see my family was nearly on the floor, in a fit of laughter!!!

I sure hope I have an old pair of glasses at home, or I can be in "BIG TROUBLE!!!"

We boarded the plane at 6:00pm and headed for the runway, our take off was delayed for a few minutes, because we had to wait for a large "turtle" to cross the runway ahead of us. We finally took off at 6:25 and were on our way home. We were only about a half an hour from touching down when we ran into some severe thunderstorms, the turbulance is so bad, I can't even write my final notes. We landed safely at 8:23pm. We then collected our bags, got in our cars, and headed for home, where we arrived safe and sound at 10:15pm.

*A Final Word of Thanks*

I just wanted to take a brief second or two to thank some very special DIS'ers out there. When we were checking out on the ship, we noticed that some onboard ship credits had been made to our account, there were no names with these credits, but you know who you are, and in behalf of my family, I just wanted to say "THANKS" this indeed was the most "MAGICal" vacation we had ever taken!!!

THE END!!!

Links to my cruise photos have now been added below:

I have added my Webshots Cruise Photo Albums, only the first album has captions so far, I will be working on the other albums over the next several days, but I thought I would add all the photos together now. The first 3 albums were taken with my digital camera, the last album was taken with my underwater camera, other ship photos have been added in as well.

Andy ~
Thanks so much for sharing your enjoyable trip report and pictures with us. You look so relaxed sitting on your verandah! I am so glad your first cruise was 'magic'al, more so than you thought it would be, making some very special memories. Hang onto them and remembrance of the royal treatment, as it is the best therapy at times when you need it the most. Take care Verandah Man and my best to all!

P.S... Stay out of the ladies room...LOL! :earseek:

It was fun knowing other DIS'ers that was going to be on the same cruise in advance. It seemed as though we were traveling with friends, before the cruise ever started!!!

Reading your reports was like watching my kids open presents on Christmas morning. The joy is in sharing their joy on that day and your joy on this trip. Like you I am still in mourning over my July 19th trip. All of us that are interested do need to give Disney a gentle shove into the 10 day cruise business. I know they are doing this over Thanksgiving but there should be more of the same through the year. I know I would jump on that for 2004/5.
Glad you had a great trip, and that you got your glasses fixed, guys our age should not be found in womens bathrooms.

:D :D :D :D :D

Hi Andy, Thanks so much for all the wonderful reports. I'm so glad you and your family had a great time. You certainly deserved it!

I have to admit to you (and I guess to other DISers) , I walked into the men's bathroom about a year or so ago at Olive Garden. Thank goodness it was empty! I just ran in to wash my hands so at first I didn't even notice. My DH was just staring at me when I came out, and asked if I saw "anything different!" Oh well, happens to the best of us!

Can't wait to use my Halloween magnet on my cabin door! Sure wish you were coming then too!

My family will be on the 8-21-04 cruise. Rock Shrimp look and taste like mini lobster tails, we go to Dixie Crossroads and get our rock shrimp there, whenever we are in Florida.

Andy, thank you for the wonderful trip reports! I was laughing so hard reading your reports at work at lunch that I got a few strange looks. You've added something to my packing list, my DH can't see three feet without his glasses, so we'll be taking a spare pair.
