Thursday is here and my report is not even close to finished. They are asking me to lay out the step by step creation of a new area within my organization. I've studied the basic principles in books but have never worked in such an area and definitely don't know how to create one step by step. I'll be taking what I have into the meeting and telling them that I am not the best person for this job. I just don't know enough and they'll need to get me some help from someone more knowledgable. It will work out okay, though. I have a sense of calm about it.

Yesterday the carb fest continued. I do well at work but fall apart at home. On the bright side, half a day of low-carb is better than nothing! :p

Today I've taken my pills, started on my water and plan to eat low carb during work hours. ::yes::

EDIT: 2:30 PM
The meeting is over and it went very well. You have to understand that I was meeting with my boss, his boss and HIS boss - so all 3 levels above me were there.

They understood that I felt overwhelmed and underqualified. They gave me a small assignment to brainstorm until Tuesday when we'll meet again as a group and work out the details together.

I am feeling better now! ::yes:: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Good Morning Doe! What a wonderful birthday present for Todd! I am so jealous! I miss the :earsboy:

I can feel your sense of calm in regards to your report and I think it is great that you are recognizing that you don't have enough information to the job to the quality standard that YOU pride yourself on.

I agree half a day of healthy eating is better then nothing at all - I am going to remember that for the future when my eating falls through the cracks.

Have a great day today!

 to you today, Doreen. I'm thinking about you as you go forward at your meeting. Going in and presenting what you've been able to do and what kind of help you need--stating what your limitations may be in a constructive way--is healthy. We don't have to be able to do everything for everyone now, do we?
You sound like you're in a centered place; I'm sending more :goodvibes your way.

Peace and love for your day,
Erin

Yes, it's Friday!! Can you tell I'm excited?? :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I'm at work and ready to tackle my assignments. I'm feeling so much better. Beth, you are right - it did take courage to admit my feelings in that meeting but in the end, I've found that the consequences of being honest are always better than the consequences of lying or faking it. Took me a lot of time and heart-ache to learn that one! ::yes::

I'm looking forward to a long weekend. Tonight is the first football game - DS and DD are both in marching band. DH and I will go and watch them march the pregame show and then go home. :) Sunday will be my busy day, helping with Sunday School followed by a family picnic at DH's dad's house. Saturday and Monday are reserved for chores around the house.

Today the pills have been taken, the water has been started and B = a ham & cheese rollup. No matter how many days I end up eating the bad stuff, I always start fresh the next morning. :p

EDIT: 3 PM
I've been drinking lots - forgot to keep track but LOTS! L = 1/2 lb. sirloin burger w/ special sauce and 1 pack peanut M&Ms, S = apple w/ PB.

The M&Ms - well, if that's the only junk I eat today, I'll be doing much better than any other day this week!! ::yes::

Erin, you asked about any weekend walking plans. I don't have any but I have lots of time this weekend and I really must make an effort to get back into the walking routine. I'll do my 5 mile loop sometime this weekend - probably tomorrow morning. Thanks for the reminder!

Make sure you drink your water today.:D Any walking planned for the weekend?

Doreen:

I do hope you have a fun and relaxing weekend - you really deserve it. Your DH (and you too) is sure lucky to get a weekend at WDW for a birthday gift. It gives you something to look forward too.

I'm so proud of you meeting with your boss(es) and going through a plan to finish and implement that huge report you've been working on. I don't know if I would have the courage to face up to enormous amount of responsibility you've taken on lately. Again, their trust in your abilities is well founded, but it will take support to accomplish everything you and they need to do.

Again, enjoy your weekend.

Yesterday was a good day! I finally got to the store and stocked up on those low-carb foods I love. I also ate low-carb, by choice because that's what sounded good. I'm trying to only eat when hungry and only enough to satisfy me without overdoing it. Thank you, Erin, for this idea! I don't remember what I ate but it was healthy food.

Today I've taken my pill, been drinking water, ate an apple for breakfast and had some honey roasted peanuts for a light snack after Sunday School. We have a picnic at DH's dad's house this afternoon with lots of low-carb options and wonderful family to catch up with. I'm looking forward to it!

Still no walk this weekend but I have plans for a long walk tomorrow morning. I'm looking forward to it - the time outside in the fresh air with lots of green around me!! It's nice when exercise doesn't feel like a chore!!

Not sure when I'll get around to all the journals. I've been spending less time on the DISboards lately - trying to put some perspective in my life. Know that I'm thinking of each one of you and wishing you all the best!

I'm feeling sunny after my long walk with Erin this morning! For those who haven't made it to her journal, we walked 11.16 miles in 2 hours 55 minutes. We would have had 35 minutes to walk another 2.04 miles at the half marathon. It was exciting to know that we could make it that far at race pace!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Walking and chatting together made the time truly fly! Erin is a true gem and I enjoyed our time together so much!

After a bite to eat, we parted ways. I felt great for quite a while but by the end of the hour & 15 minute drive home, I was so sleepy!! DH and I managed a quick nap - ahhhhh! I also took some ibuprofen for my aching hip - it feels like the joint just hasn't been oiled in a while. :p I'll be working on a strategy to beat this during the next few months.

The rest of today will be spent getting organized for the 4 days of work ahead, so I can ease my stress level during the hectic days.

Hey, WISH-sis? How's that achy hip? I'm just popped my second dose of ibuprofen a few minutes ago. . .I thought as Jock Athlete Queens we werern't going to get these aches and pain?!

I had such a great time today. After I left you I went to the studio to pick up my lesson plan work--and my first dose of ibu--and talked to DD and DH at home. When I got done talking to DH, DD told me that she'd done tons of work on her essay and was feeling happy to have done a thorough job. :D You know how I loved hearing that. Well, to celebrate we went to--you guessed it--THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY!:Pinkbounc We had a nice meal and then walked around the Court. DH and DD are now at Blockbuster getting movies and I'm in my jammies ready to fall asleep watching whatever they bring home!:faint:

You know how I treasure our friendship and our walks together--the ones out on the trail and, of course, our journey here on the WISH.

 and best wishes for a smooth re-entry tomorrow--

:sunny: Good morning! :sunny:

I'm so proud of what we accomplished, doing that long walk yesterday at race pace, that it's helping to dull the aches and pains of this morning! :teeth: :hyper: Yes, I'm sore, but it's a GOOD sore, if that makes sense. I challenged my body to do more than I've ever asked it to, and it came through for me! I realized that my mind puts limits on what I ask of myself, but when I really NEED to work hard, my body can handle it. What a great feeling! ::yes::

Erin, about that walk today....:p - talk to me tomorrow! :hyper: I may do a slow lap around my building a few times today, just to keep things from stiffening up, but for all purposes, today is a rest day! ::yes::

I also wanted to put another thought in my journal. Erin posted in her journal about her book and the idea that your stomach is only about as big as your fist. This has had a profound impact on me - you know how I love visual images! I find myself thinking about that when I'm eating and judging when I've had enough food. I'm satisfied with a lot less food now. I don't have to "talk myself into" smaller portions - it just makes sense to eat less since that's the way my body was designed.

Today - pills have been taken, water consumption has begun, B = a banana and a handful of honey roasted peanuts, exercise - a few short slow strolls throughout the day.

KLH 1973

It's humid and rainy here this morning so I'm gonna have to make my own sunshine! :p It's funny how the rain doesn't bother me when I'm in a good mood. ::yes::

I was on the DIS yesterday, and even visited some journals, but somehow I missed my own! :teeth:  It was a good day, but I didn't get enough done at work. Today's a new day and I'll be jumping right into my assignments as soon as I post this.

Yesterday was a healthy living day as far as pills and water. It was a mostly healthy eating day, except for some work-stress induced peanut M&Ms. I didn't exercise, though, because my shins just were not up to any more walking and I was exhausted.

Today I've taken my meds and will pop my vitamin as soon as I refill my Beach Club mug :D . Water is going well. I had a ham & cheese roll-up on lc tortilla for breakfast and I'm stuffed! I need to learn to stop when satisfied and put the rest into the fridge for later. I have some yogurt and some almonds for later.

I'd like to walk today. I'm not going to make a big committment though. I'm going to commit to 10 minutes of walking today. Hey, it's a start and I can always walk more if I choose.

Thanks to all who have stopped by to encourage me!! I'm slowly making it around to journals, but there are a LOT of us on this board and it takes a while. :p I wouldn't change it for the world though. It's great to see so many of us working toward being the best we can be! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I want to get this down in my journal - I'll try to analyze it later. I just don't want to forget it.

I've been under the gun at work. I've got a major project that I'm working on, a class that I'm teaching in 2 weeks that needs some work and I had my yearly evaluation with my boss this afternoon.

I'm getting a lot of work done but I've been feeling the pressure, the urge to roll up my sleeves and work like crazy until things are done. I have a tight deadline on the next piece of this project.

I've noticed a pattern that I can trace all the way back to college. Big project + me, a master procrastinator = tight deadline. This can really get the creative juices and the adrenaline flowing, and truthfully I've always done my best work under these conditions.

However, I also tend to use junk food to help me stay energized through the work. I've had a Pepsi Edge, a pack of crackers, peanut M&Ms and a Snickers bar this afternoon! Looking back, though, I've always done this when the deadline is looming and I push caffeine and carbs to get me through.

I truly am a computer nerd at heart. :p If you've ever seen the cartoon image of a computer programmer working feverishly and single-mindedly late into the night in a darkened room with soda bottles, food wrappers and empty pizza boxes strewn around, I'm here to tell you it's true! We all seem to be that way. I'm not sure if people with those tendencies are drawn to computer work or if the computers drive us to it, but I'm not the only one like this. Ask any computer programmer you know.

So the caffeine / carb push is a comfortable routine, something that has gotten me through many a tight deadline and helped me do my best work for at least the last 20 years. No wonder it feels like I go on autopilot to the EVM when this happens. It's ingrained and it has worked well in the past.

More analysis later but I just wanted to capture the idea and then get back to work. :p

With the cramps last week, I endulged in the licorice...I was not happy with myself for eating it, but it did serve its purpose for getting me throught the week knowing I could come home to the bag and have a few pieces.

You know what you have to do and what has helped to get you through it before. When you are under stress, it is difficult to change the habits even if you do recognize the habits are there. I think the only thing you can do is to take something healthy with you and sub that for the other choices whenever possible. Less stressful days are ahead of you and that is something to look forward to when you get this project over and your class planned.

Hi Doe,

Nurses are the same way. We work odd hours with a lot of adrenaline. We depend on our caffiene and carbs. I've given up the carbs, but the caffiene is my lifeline. Having a substitute available is proably your best bet. Bring a single serving of peanuts, a lc chocolate bar, bowl of berries with whipped cream. It might just be enough to get you through the day.

How did the evaluation go? Glowing is my bet. My thoughts are with you, and I'm sending you :goodvibes to help you through the next couple of weeks.

Try to relax tonight,

  I LOVE FRIDAYS!!!!

This week seems to have taken forever but Friday is finally here - yippee!! It's also pay day for me and my checking account was definitely needing a deposit! :p I'm a happy camper!

Last night was crazy busy - with DD's tennis match (called for rain when she was on the court WINNING a match for a change), haircuts for the whole family and new blonde highlights for me and play time with the 5 shih tzu puppies at the hair stylist's :Pinkbounc , and band rehearsal, on top of the usual dinner, signing school papers, homework help, etc. etc. No wonder I was tired!

Today is another tennis match for DD, band performance at the football game. How do I ever find time for a job??!!

For those that wondered, my evaluation went very well. My boss is very happy with the job I'm doing and I received the highest allowable rating of outstanding. Of course, I always think I'm not doing enough but he assured me he and everyone up the chain of command are happy and very appreciative of the work I'm doing even though I'm getting really tough assignments.

Plan for today - just survive the hectic whirlwind - isn't that enough?? :hyper: :teeth:

OK, I know that won't help me be the healthy person I want to be. Being realistic, though, I don't have much extra time or energy. I'll take the pills, drink the water and eat a decent low-carb breakfast and lunch. I should make time for that 10 minute walk that I DIDN'T take yesterday. Today is the first day that my shins don't hurt with every step. :p

I'll be back with updates!

Hi Doreen!

WOW! It's sounds as though you've had a REALLY BUSY few days! I'm so glad you have the strength and energy to make it through. A big congratulations on your evaluation!:cheer2:

OK, I told Michelle that I'd be coming over to bug you about this. I figure that since you're the one who came up with "You've Lost That Bloated Feeling," then you should have to come up with Tom Cruise and several other Top Gun pilots (preferably shirtless) to sing it to me just like in the movie! I live in Augusta, GA and will be happy to provide you with the dates and times that my dh will be out of the house.... :teeth:

A big CONGRATULATIONS on all your successes this week (and the fact that you are able to remain awake with all you've been doing! :) )!

Sorry to hear DD was rained out just when she was showing everyone how tennis is played. Maybe another day?

Also, :Pinkbounc to you for your glowing review, but I have to tell you I'm not surprised in the least. Your employers know what a gem they have in you. But, Doreen, do they realize that their Number One Star Employee is also a Jock Athlete Queen???:hyper:

Yesterday, I took the pills, drank lots of water and even walked for 15 minutes!! Food - well, let's just say low-carb wasn't my strong suit yesterday. On top of everything else, I had that pre-TOM chocolate/carb craving thing goin' on!!

Today will be a better day - spent getting ready for my mom's birthday party this evening. Now that her birthday coincides with the Sept. 11 tragedy, we try to make it a special celebration.

Saturday went very well. My mom really enjoyed the birthday festivities. My present to her was a portable CD player with some CDs. She played the CD filled with hits from the 50s at the party! We had a blast singing and dancing! My teenagers had a blast rolling their eyes! :teeth: Even they were singing along after a while! :hyper:

Yesterday was a busy one. I helped at Sunday School and then DH and I walked 4 miles at a fundraiser for diabetes. We went to the start line early and started walking 20 minutes before everyone else so I could walk at race pace without tripping over strollers. :p I felt great - no hip pain or shin pain! YAY!

Today I just couldn't get into work mode so I stayed home! :teeth: Actually, DD is home from school - not feeling well. I think it's more exhaustion than anything. DH and DS left this morning and DD & I both went back to sleep. It's noon and I just got up - DD is still sleeping. I think we both just needed the extra rest.

The TOM ride is over and I now get 2 weeks of happy moods and less cravings - WOO HOO!! I'm going to make the most of it! DH and DS have both offered to walk with me on a regular basis so I'm going to put walks on the family calendar!

Thanks, all, for stopping by and helping me smile this morning!! :sunny:

I'm back at work and DD is back in school today. I think we both just needed a little down-time to regroup and recharge. We both faced today with much more energy and vigor! ::yes::

Reading Erin's journal has gotten me thinking about my daily walk with God and my daily struggles with food and exercise. My life in general has seemed so divided, with so many different areas of focus crammed into each day. It's no wonder that I would feel defeated at the end of every day, because when there are too many "to-dos" there's no way to do them all. It's impossible to be a good Christian / wife / mother / dog owner / employee / housekeeper / cook / exerciser / healthy eater / grocery shopper / appointment minder / daughter / sister / friend / etc. all in one day. I have set my bar of expectations way too high. I truly need God's help and strength to guide me to the most important things and His wisdom to get me through my day knowing that I've done enough. God needs to be in control - not me.

So today I will pray and then listen to where God leads me.

I've taken my pill and started on my water - I'm off to a good start. The rest will be in God's capable hands, as long as I can let go of my controlling nature. :p :sunny:

I'm so glad that you and dd are feeling better today--sometimes a little "down time" can just do wonders!

Your last post really made me think. You're so very right. So many women set the bar so high for themselves then feel like failures when they can't "do it all." Some days are better than others, but sometimes life's inevitable twists and turns put up a hurdle or two (or twenty)! I truly believe that God put us here to love and care for each other, so I'm sending you all my thoughts and best wishes for a day of happiness for you!

Well, I was not as successful yesterday as I would like to have been, but I made a start. Today I will again search for God's still, small voice of guidance and comfort. I did pray that He would speak a little louder, because my inner voice of anxiety and fearfulness is pretty loud! :p

I stayed up last night until 1:45 AM. DD was working on homework that she had let slide. I think she's just about caught up now, although she'll have to work hard to stay that way. I knew if I stayed up to keep her company, she'd stay on it instead of getting further behind.

I've taken my meds and started on my water. I got to the grocery store last night so I have healthy food with me for breakfast and snacks, and I'll buy a burger for lunch. Tonight is another busy one - DD has a tennis match so I'll be there to cheer her on.

Today is a new day, a fresh start. I'm tired but I'm willing to try another day of healthy living with God's grace and love.

EDIT: 8:45 AM
I'm trying out Erin's TW idea of eating when hungry. I didn't scarf down my breakfast the moment I got to work. I'm now hungry and looked at all my choices to see what sounded good to me. I'm having my beloved apple with peanut butter - YUMMY!

I'm also trying to eat more mindfully. I won't be working while eating my apple, like I usually do. I'm going to savor it and really TASTE it. I'm going to allow myself 5 minutes to be centered and quiet, so I can return to my work refreshed and energized.

EDIT: 1:15 PM
The day is going well. I feel surprisingly calm, with a quiet energy. I thought I'd be really dragging by now, but I'm feeling quite good!

I just finished some baby carrots (love that CRUNCH!!) and a raspberry yogurt. I didn't buy anything for lunch because I just wasn't all that hungry. I know I'll be hungry later this afternoon and I have some almonds in my desk drawer, but for now I'm satisfied.

Work is going well. I'm baby-stepping my way through my assignments and making some progress, trusting God that I'm on the right track. The sense of peace that I'm feeling, instead of the usual anxiousness and fear, tells me that I must be doing it right. I can feel His presence with me and its giving me both comfort and joy this afternoon. I'm feeling so very blessed.

EDIT: 3:45 PM
I just had some almonds to tide me over until I get home. It's been a good day. I only ate the food I brought and there were NO trips to the EVM!! This is a major victory! :p

Hi Doe!

First thing I need to say is what a caring mom you are, staying up so late to lend some encouragement to your dd. These are the kinds of things my father always did for me, and I never really appreciated it until I had a child of my own. Now I know what it means when they say "parenting is the most selfless job in the world." I'm sure you're tired today, but it was such a sweet thing to do. :)

I know you feel as though you didn't have the kind of day you would've liked to have had yesterday, but I'm so glad you're making the best of the new day today! I hope dd has a great tennis match and that you have a bright and wonderful Wednesday!:sunny:

I did great until I got home yesterday. My tiredness finally caught up to me and I hit the ice cream a little hard. The good news is...that was dinner, :p  and I didn't eat anything else last night except for a handful of Pringles. I did have other choices available, but I was just too tired and lazy and I took the easy way out.

DD & her doubles partner lost their match but she was happy she got to play and she's feeling that her game is improving. She was home by 6:30, played on the computer until 8 and then I made her do homework. We hung out on my bed and I helped look up Spanish words for the translation paragraph she was doing. Then we read part of her short story homework out loud. I have a feeling that I'll be holding her hand through her homework for the next few weeks. Otherwise she gets tired and lazy like her mom and just doesn't do it.

DS got a part in the school play - he's Prisoner #3 and a Sheriff's Deputy. He's bummed because these guys don't even have names in the script :p but happy that he got any part at all. I told him he can come up with his own names if it makes him feel better. :teeth:

Today I'm back at work. I brought my food, including a substantial lunch of an Uncle Ben's Rice Bowl. It's not the best low-carb food or even unprocessed food but it will do. I've given the day to God and am feeling focused and centered and relatively calm.

Tonight, DD has tennis practice and DS has play rehearsal from 3 to 5. Then they have marching band rehearsal from 7 to 9. In between we'll eat the chicken that I remembered to put in the crock-pot this morning (yay for me!!) and do some homework. No wonder my September days are flying by!

EDIT: 1:20 PM
Took my meds & vitamin this morning with my breakfast of an apple with peanut butter. I've been drinking lots of water. I had my Uncle Ben's Pasta Bowl for lunch and I'm feeling pretty full but my mouth has the munchies. I may need to find some Trident gum to avoid the EVM! :p

Congratulations to your DS on his roles in the play! When I was in high school, I played a "porter" and a "screaming and obnoxious child". No names for me either. Congratulations to your DD too! Each game that she plays is more experience under her belt and tennis is a fun game.::yes::

A big congrats to dd & ds on their respective successes! I think it's great that even though your dd lost her match, she's happy because she's improving. That's exactly what I'm trying to get my ds9 to learn now as he plays Fall baseball with the 9-12 year-olds for the first time. I bet your ds is getting a kick out of being a prisoner in the school play! Last year mine played a weed. ("We're the weeds and we're taking over! Hi Doreen,

Congrats to DS for getting a part in the play. Which play is it. I was Rizzo in Grease my senior year. The costume didn't fit quite right, and I popped out of the top of my dress opening night. The next two nights we were filled to capacity, and I suddenly became very popular. I hope nothing similar happens in your sons play, but it was funny/horrifying at the time. I wonder if that is why I got all A's?:scratchin Just kidding.

I think ice cream is a legitimate souce of calcium. If there is fruit or nuts added you have vitamins and protein too.;) Good for you planning ahead for tonight's meal.

BTW - I know "that" is why I got a "B" in geometry instead of the "C" I deserved.

Doreen: does your daughter have a planner that she can write down all her assignments and due date? The middle school classes I observed on Monday actually print them and hand them out to all of their students. What a terrific idea - it even had helpful hints like the basics of essay writing, geometry facts and the periodic table included too.

She could also use the calendar system on her computer to pop up and remind her what she needs to do.

In high school, I had drill team practice every morning before school for an hour-hour 1/2 and each night (except for performances) for another hour & 1/2, and three hours on Saturdays. I also worked for a couple of hours after school a couple of days a week. I was always doing homework during 1st period band - flute and piccolo have a lot of waiting while the brass plays usually. I least I never had time to get into any trouble!

Weekend is almost here! You are doing great!

:( What to write in my journal? :(

My DS is home from school today - a mental health day. He is feeling way overwhelmed and is not a happy camper. I don't want to go into detail, since this is a public forum and he wouldn't want his private life struggles here for all to see. However, any prayers and pixie dust you could send his way would be so appreciated. My heart is aching for him - when our babies hurt, we moms seem to hurt as much or more I think.

I am majorly stressed out at the moment. With things going on at home and a boat-load of work at work and a yucky rainy day, I would love to just curl up with my puppy at home and nap, but that is not possible today. I'm at work and I have a lot that needs to be done, especially since I need to be off on Monday with DS.

While I type this, I am realizing that I'm letting the stress get the better of me. I've been eating EVM food this morning (crackers, peanut M&Ms and a Snickers over the past 3.5 hours). It's good that I've come here, because I can see that this is NOT helping me. I must focus on what has to get done at the office and stop medicating with junk food.

So, for the next half hour, I'm going to focus on getting things ready for the class I'm teaching next Wed. & Thurs. It's the same class I taught before so I know what needs to be done. I must focus on baby-stepping through it. I can do this!

I'll be back with an update later. I'm drinking lots of water and I've taken my meds. I have an Uncle Ben's rice bowl in the fridge for lunch. I do not need any food until then (she said to her tummy and her brain which are both screaming for more chocolate!).

By the way, I AM glad this is Friday - don't think I could take another workday this week. I'm at a loss for a song, though - the only thing coming to mind is "Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down" - not quite the uplifting song that I need at the moment! :teeth:

Also by the way, thanks for the words of wisdom, Erin! I AM a beloved child of God. I've forgotten to talk to Him and hand all this anxiety over to Him. I'll be doing that right now!

EDIT: 1:20 PM
Thanks, Beth!

Lunch was my Uncle Ben's rice bowl and a pack of peanut M&Ms. I'm full now and don't think I'll need anything else for a while.

I have no focus and am not getting the work done, but I am trying. Baby steps..... I only have to be here roughly 2 hours.

You are quite the mom to let your DS stay home and recharge. Many parents would not allow that kind of luxury or have that kind of respect for their young adults. Positive enery is on its way for both of you.

Things are looking up. DS went from very depressed to at least smiling last night after a key phone call. He's been applying at the local movie theater for a job for about 8 months now. They called last night and scheduled an interview for this evening. :p The ironic thing is that if he had gone to school yesterday, he would have been marching at the football game last night and would not have been home to take the call. We had a good conversation about how "all things work together for good", even those things that don't seem good at the time. I hope his interview goes well this evening - it won't solve all his problems but it would be a real boost for him to get this job.

I'm still in my jammies and it's after noon already! :p Relaxation is a good thing!

We're headed to the mall to get a baby shower gift for my SIL's shower tomorrow. Then DS has his interview. Later a friend of DS' is coming over so they can tackle a new video game together. Tomorrow is Sunday School and then the baby shower. The weekend has plenty of relax time in it.

I'll be off on Monday. DS has an appointment in the middle of the day that I need to take him to. Long weekends are always nice!!

I'm feeling better today and my food choices reflect that. I just ate a ham & cheese rollup on lc tortilla and took my meds. I don't have the craving for junk food anymore. I'm happy about that - I was really feeling out of control yesterday and I'm glad those feelings are gone. I think being able to sleep in today really helped!

Things are looking up! Thanks for the prayers and positive energy for DS - keep 'em comin'! :sunny:

:sunny: Good morning! :sunny:

It's such a beautiful sunny day with deep blue skies - hard to be anything but sunny this morning! :p

DS had a good interview and was offered a job. It's nothing glamorous - bathroom detail, cleaning the theater between shows, ushering and concession stand duties - but he's leaning toward taking it. Sometimes it's a nice boost just to get the offer, ya know? He had a friend stay overnight - they played video games until 3 AM. :p We're doing all we can to help him have a positive weekend.

DD and I spent lots of mall time yesterday - always fun. I really do enjoy the company of my kids. ::yes:: We were smart enough to buy the baby shower gifts at a store which will gift wrap them for free! :teeth:

Today - Sunday School and the baby shower. Then home for some laundry and relaxation, along with some homework monitoring. Should be a happy sunny day!

Hi Doreen!:sunny:

I just spent the last few minutes catching up on your journal, and I have said prayers for your son. Yes, it is so difficult when our children are hurting--and at this age you just can't slap a band-aid on the problem, give him a kiss and know everything will be fine. Adolescence/young adulthood can be such a confusing time in life, and I'm hoping the good news about his job offer makes him happy. My good thoughts and best wishes go out to him (and his mom, too ;) )!

Have a fun time at the baby shower and enjoy the rest of your Sunday (I'm on laundry detail, too :crazy2: )!

Oooh, it sounds like a good day!::yes:: Did you get any flooding in your town, Doreen? My DSister said that out near G-burg they had some water and a tornado touched down in the area. No problems for her, though.

Glad things worked out for DS. . . has he decided about the job yet? And mall time with DD sounded like fun, too. You didn't by any chance go to Vicky's and buy the store out again, did you?!:p

Enjoy your Sunday and the sunny skies,

Doreen...that is nice that your son was offered the job. He should think of getting to see the movies too! That's a perk.

Sounds like you are having a great weekend. I enjoy the time I spend with my kids as well. It's nice that I can still relate to them and the changes they are going through..each is going through something different...but is unique to their personality. You are right...when they hurt...we hurt and even though we know that things will work out in the end...it's hard for them to realize this and no matter what we say it doesn't make it easier for them.

Keep the positive outlook strong! You are doing wonderful!

Enjoy your week (and the Monday off)!

I have the day off, but so do all the other workers in downtown Harrisburg. The flooding there is pretty bad - lots of closed streets, etc. Our town doesn't flood so we're fine, but lots of other towns in the area are having troubles with floodwaters, thanks to Hurricane Ivan passing over us and drowning us with water and wind.

DS is at school, making up a test he missed on Friday. I'm getting ready to take DD to school soon, so I only have a minute. The day will be a busy one, but I'll be sure to create some relax time in there somewhere. DS is taking the job at the theater - free movies, popcorn and soda for employees! We have to get his working papers finished this week and go shopping for uniform clothes, complete with black bow tie! :teeth:

I'm heading out with DD but will be makiing good food choices today! Later!

My desk at work is feeling very comforting at the moment. I'm glad to be back into my workday routine - predictable!

Yesterday was a whirlwind of activity. I was at the school 5 times  and I even skipped Parents' Night last night. :p My food choices were not the best, either.

I brought my food to work today, including a whole bag of baby carrots. While they may not be low-carb, they've gotta be better than EVM stuff if I feel stressed. ::yes:: I also have an apple and peanut butter for breakfast and another Uncle Ben's rice bowl for lunch. I'll be drinking my water & taking my pills in a few minutes.

I'm going to post this and then take a few moments to pray about my day and about my choices.

I'll try to get around to journals but I also need to prep for the class I teach tomorrow and Thursday.

"Yes, sir!"

I only have a few seconds to spare but wanted to pop in and reassure everyone that all is well. I missed posting yesterday - just too busy. If there was a panting smilie, I'd insert it here! :p

Class went very well yesterday, with few glitches and nothing we couldn't overcome. Since it's the second time I'm teaching this class, I'm much better at presenting the materials and using good examples. The participants seem to be learning a lot and having a lot of "aha" moments - "yes, this is what I need to do my job"! ::yes:: It's very gratifying to see!

Today is the second day of teaching the class and then I'm finished. I'll have to schedule more in the future but there are no more on the calendar at this point.

DS and DD are both doing well. Tonight is another whirlwind. DD has tennis practice and DS has to take his paperwork to the theater, then they both have band rehearsal from 7 to 9 PM. Tomorrow night and Saturday will be crazy as well, so I'm hoping for a relaxing Sunday! :p

Gotta run! Food choices have been fair but I haven't had time to eat very much at all. I have been drinking my water and faithfully taking my meds. No exercise to speak of, though. Oh well, I'm doing the best I can, and that's good enough.

I probably won't get to journals until Sunday, but know that I'm sending good wishes and hugs to all my WISH buddies! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Class went very well yesterday. I spent the evening helping DD with homework - she skipped band rehearsal in favor of biology and English. I did manage to walk the puppy for a short distance - the first time I've done that in ages! It felt good and relaxing to be outside and unrushed.

I'm taking it slow this morning. I have to drive into work by myself today. For those who don't know, I have a daylight only driver's license. Now that the sun rises later, I have to wait to drive in. That means I get to stay later this afternoon, but the office will be quiet and I should be able to work without lots of interruptions.

The kids are both going with the band to an away football game. They'll get on the bus before I get home, so it will be very peaceful and quiet at home this evening. We were going to do some extra running to get DD to both the away tennis match and the football game (at a different school), but that didn't work out - I'm secretly thankful. :p Maybe I'll get another short puppy walk in!

I'm off into my day. :sunny:

EDIT: 10:20 AM
I'm getting a lot done at work - babystepping through all those tough tasks I've been putting off. I'm proud of me!! I've found a Christian radio station at Live365.com that's keeping me focused on God's grace and love. I've never listened to Christian contemporary music before and I'm finding it uplifting. It reminds me that work is a part of my life but it doesn't need to be the focus of my life - I have a higher purpose. I am God's child and He is with me, even during work, guiding my steps, my words, my actions if I'll let Him.

I've taken the meds and am drinking lots of water. Breakfast was some fairly low-carb trail mix from the EVM. It's funny that the sugary junk which was so appealing yesterday doesn't look good to me at the moment.

I'm giving blood over lunch hour - the gift of life for someone who needs it.

Amanda, you've got me thinking about what I can do for me tonight. Haven't decided on anything yet, but you've planted a wonderful seed. Thanks for reminding me that I need to nurture myself. I'm a child of God AND a WISH princess - I deserve it! :sunny:

I think the extra time you and DD are putting into school work is time well-spent; getting things under control right now, at the beginning of the year, is going to help in the long run. The transition back into the work and routine of school isn't always easy--I know because my own DD verbalizes this EVERY DAY!:p

Yes, Mary, M-F DO feel like a marathon! :p

Last night, I came home tired. I donated blood during the day and that always wipes me out for the evening. DH, on the other hand, came home wired! I sent him out for a bike ride while puppy and I took a nap! :p

Today DH has been at his Dad's all day, helping with siding. I made breakfast for the kids & I, took DD to the eye doc for her annual checkup (all is well!), took DS to the mall for his movie theater uniform stuff ($200 in 1.5 hours   ), and helped DD study her biology. I'm taking the rest of the evening off! :teeth:

I've taken my meds. That's probably the most healthy thing I've done for me all day. Food choices have been fair - even though I'm not eating low-carb, at least I'm eating small portions. Exercise - can I count schlepping around the mall with DS?? Frankly, my healthy habits have taken a backseat to all the things I'm doing for the kids. I'm hoping things will slow down soon. Tennis season has only one more week. We have about 6 weeks left of marching band. I've been so busy that I haven't even thought about the weekend trip to WDW in 2 weeks.

No promises about downward, but I'm definitely moving onward! :sunny:

Monday's day off was wonderful! I did manage to get some of the house looking better - a relief.

Yesterday was stressful! This big project for work is driving me crazy. I had a meeting yesterday afternoon where I basically had to tell them that I'm still struggling. My choices were anything but healthy.

Today I've taken my meds and am drinking my water. Breakfast was a banana and a pack of peanut M&Ms. :p I'm feeling the effects of not treating myself in a healthy way - I'm bloated, I'm gaining belly fat, I've got a raging headache, and I just feel sluggish. I'm in my "big" clothes again. I KNOW I should be trying to avoid diabetes, etc. etc. by eating right and exercising, but when push comes to shove, I just don't care on a decision by decision basis. I do whatever will get me through the next 5 minutes. I know this has to do with the stress at work and the crazy schedule at home. I also know that exercise would help relieve some of the stress but I can't get motivated to move.

I'm not going to beat myself up over this. I'm not sure when I'll be back on the healthy living road. I do know that I'm at least THINKING about doing the healthy stuff. I haven't given up the idea of eating healthy and being fit, but I have lowered its priority in my life for the moment.

Onward into Wednesday! :sunny:

Thanks for the good vibes, Beth & Erin!

After a grueling hour and a half meeting yesterday afternoon, I have been told to schedule DAILY meetings with the same 3 people so we can make quick progress on this project.

I am relieved to have so much intense and hands-on help. On the other hand, I am so stressed out about working on this so intensely with these people! :( I know this will resolve the road blocks as quickly as possible so in the end, my stress will be more short-lived, but I think it will be pretty intense over the coming days.

Thanks for your reminder, Erin, that all I can do is my best and it will be good enough. I'm clinging to that thought. I'm also feeling very anxious and out of control - not a good feeling! - so I'm going to take some time to pray and hand this over to God, who has a plan and a purpose. Steel is forged and strengthened only through fire - I'm feeling like I'm in the hot seat at the moment but am trusting in Him that I'll come through stronger in the end. If anyone has any Bible verses to send my way, feel free! :D

No bible verse to offer (I'm sure somewhere there is a priest smacking himself on the head at the moment) but remember God only gives you what he knows you can handle. He knows that you will be able to accomplish this task. Just ask for his help when you need it and everything will work smoothly.

Do your best today and know that you will get through it unscathe.

Good morning, WISH-sis, and  and strength for your new day. You asked for some verses, so here are two for your day ahead.

One that made me think of you being that woman forged of steel:

"We also rejoice in our sufferings ( ), because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us (Romans 5:3-5).:D "

And the other to lift you up:

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:31)."

Whether it's at the half marathon or in the office, WISH-sis, you're going to walk and not be faint. He will carry you through whatever you're going through. Hang in there. You can do this.

Hi Doe!

Oh Erin, those are such genuinely inspirational verses!

I wish I were as articulate as so many others when it comes to offering support and comfort, Doreen. Everything I'm thinking of writing to you just sounds so cliched and trite. Rejoice in the fact that you are a Child of God (this thought can make me smile even when I'm in the midst of the most terrible of times--it gives me chills to know how truly awesome it is!) and that He will *always* be walking by your side--He'll also be there to carry you on an as-needed basis! There's nothing you can't handle, Doe! :D

Don't you worry about journals right now--we know you're behind every single one of us, cheering us on! Your thoughts and good wishes mean so much! :grouphug:

Have a lovely, stress-less Thursday, Doreen! :sunny:

Today has gone pretty well! I reviewed my project progress with my immediate boss and he & I are in agreement. Now I have some prep work for tomorrow morning's meeting with more bosses up the line. Hopefully they will be happy with the progress also.

I'm still letting life and stress control my choices, instead of taking control myself. As soon as the stress lets up or as soon as I can no longer fit into my clothes :D, I'll be addressing this more clearly.

Gotta run before I'm late for my carpool home! :p

Hi Doe,

I'm glad your meeting went well. I'm sure that the meeting tomorrow will be just as successful. You have said yourself that you have a tendency to procrastinate. Maybe these meetings are a blessing. You can't procrastinate, and hopefully the big stressful push won't be necessary. Just a thought.

Take care of yourself.

Beth, you are so right! I DO tend to procrastinate or to just get overwhelmed and avoid the work. Can't do that now so I'm making progress a lot faster. Yes, it's stressful, but it will be over sooner. I'm reminded of Erin's post in her journal a few days back that talked about how procrastination robs us of peace and it is true for me. These meetings are a blessing and I'm feeling tired but proud of what I'm accomplishing, instead of tired and beating myself up for not getting more done.

It's a new month! Not sure where September went. :p Might be a good time for a new beginning, a recommitment to being a little more healthy. I think I'll keep my goals simple. Of course I'll be taking my meds and drinking lots of water - don't even need to make those goals anymore because they happen automatically. I'm going to aim for something so simple. Here's my goal for October - just one:

WALK FOR 5 MINUTES EVERY DAY IN OCTOBER

That's it. Just take 5 minutes out of my busy day and stroll outside or do laps inside at work or do WATP at home if the weather's bad. No excuses. No matter how tired I am, I can certainly make 5 minutes to walk.

Goals don't get much simpler than that! :sunny:

I also tend to procrastinate like you. Currently I need to work on my speech for the wedding on Sunday - I haven't even started this yet. I'm hoping I'll get it done tonight. ::yes::

I'm pleased to announce that my goal-setting yesterday resulted in a 15 minute walk with the puppy and DH last evening! It was a busy night and I know I would have made excuses without that simple 5 minute goal. :sunny:

After the walk, DH and I went to see the marching band's field show - looked pretty good! We left before the football game started! :p I invited a friend of mine (also there to see the band but NOT the football game) to come back to our house. We spent a couple hours chatting - very nice!

Today I woke up feeling anxious over all the SHOULDS but quickly turned to God in prayer - it helps! DH is helping his father today and the kids have a band festival this evening. I, on the other hand, have NOTHING on my schedule!! :teeth: :hyper: :teeth: Tomorrow looks blissfully empty as well! I do need to pack for our trip next weekend, clean, do laundry, etc. but no outside obligations. There will be plenty of time for me this weekend!

I'm feeling better about work. The daily meetings are helping me to get things done and keep the assignments small and manageable. I'm getting lots of help and support from my boss. I'm not feeling overwhelmed anymore as long as I focus on the next baby step.

Maybe I'll be ready for some healthy eating soon! ::yes:: With this time over the weekend, I may cook some low-carb stuff so I'll have it on hand for next week.

I DID get my walk in last evening. DS and puppy and I drove out to a local park that is in the country and usually quiet. It was a good time for DS and I to talk uninterrupted. We walked for about 30 minutes, so I think I made up for missing Sunday's walk. :p

Today will be filled with work! My project needs to get finished and soon!

I've been neglecting journals and I've been trying to catch up by doing a few journals each day. Please be patient with me.

I got lots done at work yesterday! I'm sure it was because of all the good thoughts and pixie dust that my WISH buddies sent me!! ::yes:: I also took a 20 minute walk with puppy and DS in the park after work! It was a good day! :sunny:

This morning I'm off to a training session on Data Warehousing with a group of people from work. This afternoon I'll be working more on the project. I have a clear vision of what I'm doing, at least for the next few steps, so I'm feeling confident about it.

Disney trip??? Am I supposed to be packing and planning??? Who has time!  DH and I often joke about just throwing a couple things in a suitcase and dashing off to the airport on a whim - that's the way this trip is turning out. :teeth:

OK, for those who want to live vicariously....

Friday we'll be flying from Harrisburg PA to Sanford FL where we'll pick up the Mustang convertible I rented for DH to drive! :teeth: We'll high-tail it to All Star Music to check in and then dash off to the Magic Kingdom just in time for MNSSHP (that's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party). We are NOT wearing costumes but we'll have fun anyway.

We'll spend either Saturday or Sunday at Epcot for the Food & Wine Festival. I suppose if I were smart, I'd do it Saturday so I have Sunday to recover from the wine. I promise not to overdo it but I NEED a margarita from Mexico and I hear it's not good to mix margaritas and wine. :scared1: :tilt: OK, I'll behave responsibly - no need to worry!

Sunday will be our day for relaxing. We'd like to drive over to Celebration and wander around. We've always wanted to do this but never have. Don't know if we'll make it to any parks or not. I thought about trying Jelly Rolls on the Boardwalk. It's a dueling piano bar and I hear it's a hoot! Sunday will be our take-it-as-it-comes day to do whatever sounds interesting.

Monday morning, bright and early, we'll be meeting my brother and my niece for breakfast at 'Ohana in the Polynesian. Their vacation trip just happens to overlap ours and I really want a picture of my niece with Mickey. :earsgirl: ::MickeyMo Then it's off to the airport to fly home.

The only PS I have is for Monday's breakfast. Not sure where else we'll eat. Food usually isn't a big deal for us.

I've gotta run to meet the gang for our ride to training. I'll be back at lunch! :sunny:

Brief trip report for those who are interested:

Friday's flight (TransMeridian Airlines - Harrisburg PA to Sanford FL) went well. We picked up the rental car - a silver Ford Mustang convertible - and headed to All Star Music to check in. The line was SOOOOO long that we skipped checking in and headed out to the Magic Kingdom for the Halloween party. I had such a great time trick or treating for the first time in 25+ years!! There are trick or treat stops all over the park! Todd went back through one spot 3 times (he loves M&Ms!!). The costumes were amazing and the parade was fun. The mood was very festive and MK looked wonderful all decorated for Halloween! Dinner was a chicken wrap from Pecos Bills - very tasty! We got back to the All Star Music late, checked in and crashed!

Saturday morning we put the top down on the car and drove to Celebration. We've been wanting to check this town out for ages. We've confirmed our suspicions - that's where we want to live when we retire! We spent quite a bit of time driving through the various areas of town and walking through the downtown. We also drove north of WDW toward Winter Garden - tons of gated communities. Lunch was a large chicken salad at Perkins in the Crossroads - really good!

Saturday afternoon was spent napping! I was so tired! In the evening we headed to Epcot and sampled lots of yummy stuff at the food & wine festival. We enjoyed the Chinese acrobats and a mime in France. There was a whiskey flan and a honey wine from Ireland, strawberry rice cream and a merlot from Norway, shrimp on the barbie and a reisling from Australia, an apple strudel with vanilla bean sauce from Germany - oh my!!! Fortunately, I skipped the margarita! :p It was fun but it was also very crowded. All in all, we had a good time! Then it was back to the hotel to crash again!

Sunday morning we spent some time wandering through Animal Kingdom. Then we headed to Port Orleans Riverside to meet my brother, his wife and their 4 yo daughter. While DSIL & DN napped, we strolled with my brother and showed him around Riverside and French Quarter. Then DH and I headed to an early dinner at Le Cellier - cheddar cheese soup, filet mignon in a maple BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, a glass of red zinfandel, and apple/cranberry cobbler w/ cinnamon ice cream. We then headed to MK to spend time with my brother & his family. We had a great time. Then back to the hotel for another heavy sleep!

This morning we were up very early! We picked up my brother and his family and drove to the Polynesian for the character breakfast at 'Ohana. The food was fair but my niece loved the characters and we had a nice time. DH and I headed to the airport for an uneventful flight home, and here I am! :sunny:

DH loved driving the convertible. He put the top down at every opportunity and it was a lot of fun driving around with the wind in our hair. We had a very relaxing and happy weekend together!

:sunny: Good morning! :sunny:

I promised myself that I would actually WORK for the first couple hours of my workday, instead of posting to my journal. I've gotten into such a bad habit of DISing too much at the office. I've gotten 2 solid hours of work done - WOO HOO!! I feel so productive!! ::yes::

I'm taking things a step at a time and getting a lot done without getting stressed out. It helps that I'm rested and refreshed after my weekend jaunt.

I walked plenty over the weekend and feel great because of it. I plan to continue my October goal of walking at least 5 minutes every day. I haven't gotten my walk for today in yet, but I did walk up 5 flights of stairs this morning instead of taking the elevator. :p

Oh, and Wilderness, we did NOT dress up for the Halloween party. There were some awesome costumes to look at though and we were certainly not the only ones in regular "tourist attire". :)

Hugs to all!! :grouphug: :grouphug:

Doe it sounds like you had such a magical weekend. And you drank a lot of wine! Holy Cow girlie!

I need to make the same commitments you do about work - less DISing and more Work. Of course DISing is more fun!

What will you do for Todd's birthday next year?;) I am so glad that you both had a fun and relaxing time.::yes::

Hey Doe, Way to go taking those stairs! That takes some will power. I think you're a woman on a mission today! :teeth:

I'm listening to Live365.com to get my Disney fix this morning! :p The station at the moment is Sorceror Radio: WDW. Why is it that WDW music calms me, helps me feel upbeat and helps me focus on work? :earsgirl:

I managed to work a whole hour before coming here to my journal! I'm working hard to DIS less and work more at work. I've gotten a good bit finished already! ::yes:: It definitely starts my day off on a positive note. I feel much better about myself when I get right down to work and accomplish some tasks before coming here.

Last night I fell asleep with the puppy on the sofa and took a 2 hour nap! I was really tired! However, I wasn't sleepy when it was bedtime. I know better than to take those long naps in the evening but I guess it's one of those lessons I need to learn over and over. :teeth: Dinner was a small bowl of cereal - just wasn't hungry. I never did get a walk in either.

This morning I took the stairs again - it's actually 6 flights. I did have to rest twice for 30 seconds to catch my wind but I'm hoping this will improve soon. Breakfast is an Atkins bar and I've already taken my meds.

Tonight is haircut night for the family after work. I'm looking forward to getting my bangs cut - they're hanging in my eyes!

Off I go into another workday! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Just running over here to give you a  and some :sunny: and a big good morning :wave2: . I think your new plan to "work first, DIS second" is a wonderful way to say good-bye to a teeny bit of morning procrastination. YOU GO, GIRL!

Those naps after work feel so great but then it stinks when you can't fall asleep. Brian and I had the same issue last night and were up to about midnight because of it. But again - the nap felt so good.

Doe - you are making me look bad with this work first and DIS second. But I am also trying to get better about it. I guess we will see how it goes.

What kind of cereal? :)

Let's see - I worked for an hour and then started to DIS. I've been DISing for an hour now - time to get back to work! :teeth:

The cereal - hmmmm, I think it was the maple mini wheats - VERY yummy! :teeth:

OK, I've got 2.5 hrs. til lunch - no more DIS til 12 noon! ::yes::

I was just catching up on all your trip news, and I must say you've gotten me so excited! We're leaving for WDW on Friday, and you have really put me in the Mickey Mood! ::MickeyMo

I'm so glad that you had such a wonderful time, and hope that your transition into The Real World goes smoothly. We went on a cruise this past summer and everytime I came downstairs in the morning after we got home, I kept wondering where my breakfast buffet was! :confused3 :p

Post-Lunch Update!

I had a cheeseburger and a soda (yep, regular sugared soda  ) for lunch. I wanted a Pepsi Edge with half the sugar but the cafeteria was out of it - I need the caffeine today!

While this wasn't the best lunch, at least I did not binge! That's my goal today. Now I have to make it through the afternoon with the evil EVM voices calling me. :p I'm tough - I can do it! ::yes::

Now it's back to work and no more DISing until 3 PM break - that's only 1.5 hours away! :sunny:

Hello Doreen,

Your work first attitude is inspiring. I may apply it tomorrow with my laundry. No DIS until the 1st load is in the washer and the bathroom is clean. We'll see. I listen to the WDW music while I clean. I am just more productive when it is on.

I hope you are able to sleep tonight. As for lunch, sometimes we need to do what will get us through the day. Do you have a healthy snack with you for your 3PM break? 6 flights of stairs is good exercise. Are yoiu doing it every time you need to get to the office? Just wondering.

Take care,
Beth

Your quick break to WDW sounds so nice! I sure wish we lived closer to Florida so we could make a weekend trip now and again. We love Disneyland/Cal Adventure too but there are never the deals for heading down and staying onsite (which is part of the magic right?) DH's brother lives in OC too and doesn't understand the Disney thing either...gives us a terribly bad time for heading to the parks.

Your work ethic is amazing!

I started my day a bit differently today. I did start working right away but I've been listening to a Christian music station on Live365 (Bigloo Radio) and I felt the need to take a few moments to pause for devotions. This is the verse on the christianwomentoday.com website devotional this morning:
“May the God of peace … equip you with everything good for doing His will and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him through Christ Jesus” (Hebrews 13:21)
It spoke to me of God's grace in equipping me to do the project I'm working on at work. I really am right where He wants me to be and He'll guide me through if I stop trying to do everything myself and listen to His voice.

This has decreased my stress level and calmed me from the inside out. What does this have to do with healthy living? Well, lately I've been letting the stress and my fears get to me, letting those feelings control my life, my eating, my lack of exercise. Today I feel empowered to hand my stress and fears over to God, along with my healthy living goals.

If I can keep this sense of peace with me, I won't feel so out of control that I want to binge-eat or eat all carbs. Maybe I'll even have enough peace that I can get my walk in today. God wants me to live the healthy life and He will equip me with all I need to do that.

Peace and joy to all this morning! :sunny:

Yes, Amanda, I AM working hard this morning! I've been so good the past 3 days - work first, DIS later. Today I'm avoiding a tough assignment so guess where I'm hanging out!  You'd think I'd know better by now - I'm 40 years old, for cryin' out loud!

I'm going to post here and then get to work!! HONEST!! :teeth: :hyper: :teeth: :hyper: :teeth:

I did great til I got home last night. Food was cookie dough and cookies that the kids were making  and the only exercise I got was sitting at the computer playing games  . Again, more avoidance behavior related to the meeting I have at 11 AM today.

Breakfast this morning was a bagel & a wild cherry Pepsi  . Remember how confident and peaceful and centered I was yesterday?? Well apparently I've used all that up and today I'm back to my old tricks.

I think I'll go read the devotional at christianwomentoday, take a moment to pray and then roll up my sleeves to get down to work. At least I SEE the pattern of avoidance now.

I'll be having a great Friday AFTER my 11 AM meeting! I'll update this post afterward. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

EDIT: 11:45 AM
WHEW!!!!! The meeting went very well and all are happy with my work so far. Now we move on to the next steps - yep, more work and more meetings! :p I'm feeling better about what I'm doing though, since I have some affirmation from the top brass in my area that I'm on the right track.

I'm going to have a healthy eating day for the rest of the day, with the addition of a celebratory glass of chardonnay this evening. :sunny:

Day 1 of my half marathon training! Today I will walk 2 miles at an easy pace. Thanks to Amanda for posting the training schedule on the main WISH board. I've printed it off and will be following it - NO MATTER WHAT! That means I'll be walking 2 miles today, Wed. & Thurs. and 3 miles on Saturday. I can handle that! ::yes::

The weekend went by in a whirlwind! Friday night was a surprise 50th birthday party for a friend of DH's - a really memorable time! Saturday - a marathon shopping day with DD, DD's best friend & her mom. We hit the Exton Square mall AND King of Prussia! Boy, was I tired!! :p Sunday was a veg at home with the kids day. We cleaned a little, did a bit of laundry, watched videos and enjoyed each others' company.

Today I woke up late but made it to work. I almost allowed myself to get sidetracked on the net first thing but pulled myself back to the reality of work and have been tying up some loose ends like emails & phone calls. It's amazing how much I can get done when I put my mind to it. I've read my daily devotional and am listening to Christian music.

Breakfast was half a ham & cheese sandwich and I brought enough food to last me the rest of the workday. I'm focusing on eating small amounts the size of my fist when I am truly hungry, even if the food isn't strictly low carb. I'm drinking lots of water and have taken my meds & vitamin. I'll walk my 2 miles right after work today - hopefully I can get DS to walk with me to help pass the time. I will walk before I do anything else at home, no matter how tired I feel - because I know that I'll feel energized afterward.

Mentally, I'm in a good place, feeling confident and happy with my progress at work and my commitment to the half marathon training schedule and my focus on portion size and eating when truly hungry in the food area. I'm anxious to feel the results because even my "big" pants are fitting too snugly these days. Gotta get in gear and drop some inches. I know how to do it - just gotta follow through! ::yes::

Onward, inward and looking Upward! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

EDIT: 1 PM
I had 2 Fig Newtons and some goldfish crackers for lunch. I know it doesn't sound like much but I'm going to give it some time to see if I'm really still hungry or if I'm just "mind-hungry". I'm on my 3rd mug of water.

Work is going well today! ::yes::

I am actually looking forward to it - as strange as that may sound.

Hi Doreen,
I finally finished reading your journal. Do you believe that I haven't posted since page 114? It has taken me most of a week, reading a few pages at a time to catch up...:p

I just wanted to let you know that I get alot of inspiration from your story. Like you, I'm a "middle-ager" with busy teenagers and a full time job. I really enjoy how you analyze each day's successes and struggles. Like you, I deal with stress-induced emotional eating...( I used to smoke under stress...now I eat )
I admire how you set goals each day and remain flexible depending on how the day goes...

I hope your walk went well today. I'll be rooting for you...continued success with your marathon training!!
