Final recap of the day:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 10/10 100%
2. Water - all 5 mugs 10/10 100%
3. Food - B=2, L=6, S=4 (the rest of the Ben & Jerry's), D=pecans (8g), apple, GS cookies (27g) Total for the day=45g carbs 7/10 70%
4. Exercise - 9/10 90%

Another good day for me! I'm feeling very sunny. I hesitate to type this because it may jinx me - but I don't really feel the d-zone yet. I'm at day 20 in my cycle and usually by now I'm feeling the plunge into the d-zone. Maybe all this exercise and healthy eating are helping? I'm sure the d-zone is coming but a shortened version instead of the 2 solid weeks I'm used to would be great!

I popped into the libaray today and requested a copy of "Thin Tastes Better". It's at another branch and should be ready for me to pick up in a few days. In the meantime, I've been re-reading Dana Carpender's "How I Gave Up My Low Fat Diet and Lost 40 Pounds." Lots of good low-carb info in there that I needed to brush up on, as well as motivation to stay the course and continue to WANT to eat low-carb. With Girl Scout cookies and other assorted carby stuff in the house, I have to WANT this way of eating.

Tomorrow, DS will be headed back to school. I'll be going back to work. I can handle 2 days of work! :p It's almost a relief to be going back to my work routine. I'm feeling better about work lately - definitely a good thing since I was in a real funk about it for quite some time!

Time for bed - see you all tomorrow! :sunny:

I'm supposed to be finishing up my lesson plans and heading to bed, but I wanted to stop by and say "good night." It sounds like you're in a good place, Doreen. I'm wondering about exercise helping us through the dzone, too--I've felt a lot better this month, too.

I'll be interested in knowing what you think about the book. My opinion is mostly positive, but a few of the ideas--like making an tape to listen to for reinforcement--didn't really strike a chord with me. I could see where that might work, though. There's also an eating plan, too, but I haven't gotten to that part yet. I think this book is like a lot of the other ones on healthy eating--you have to pick and choose what's meaningful for you as an individual.

WISH-sis, thank you for all that you do for me.

Erin

I opened up the book you sent me tonight for the first time and noticed the card - you are the sweetest person alive! It is amazing to me how the internet can connect people that have never even met before (of course you and I have met) you are a dear dear friend:hug:

I'm in the 3rd or 4th chapter of the book and WOW it really does speak to me. I know I am going to enjoy having it in my collection of motivating books. Really helps to stay on track.

I reccomend a book by Og Mandino titled The Greatest Miracle in the World I think you will really really like it. My library has a copy so I bet yours does as well.

Well I am off to bed since I am going to try and get up early tomorrow and actually work out. Wish me luck!

And a good cheery morning to all!! :sunny:

Thanks to everyone who pops into my journal to leave a message - you all brighten my days!! :grouphug:

I'm up to 10....count 'em....10 cheat free days so far in March! I've made it through one-third of the month! Setting and trying to reach my 4 monthly goals has made such a big difference for me this month. I have measurable, attainable goals that help me to treat myself well! Thank you for the idea, Amanda!!

So far today:
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water and decaf green tea - 1 mug down, 4 to go. I'm sipping my mandarin orange decaf green tea and the orange scent is heavenly!
3. Food - Breakfast was a protein bar (2g) and a packet of Splenda in my tea (1g). Lunch will be tuna salad on fiber rye crackers (20g tops - I'll have to look up the exact count & edit this later). Dinner will probably be chicken quesadillas a la Amanda (8g tops). Snacks at work will be string cheese (1g per string). Snacks / dessert at home will be sf jello w/ whipped cream. I'll be well under my 60g again. My veggies will be in my tuna salad at lunch and in my salsa at dinner.
4. Exercise - 20 minutes of Pilates, still mixing in some of the more advanced exercises - a very relaxing way to start my day with some stretching and toning up my abs, thighs & bum.

The scale said 129 today - was happy to see that! I've been hovering between 130 and 132 for quite a while. I'm not going to claim the lower number in my siggie yet - I've seen 129 before and it always got away from me  . If I keep seeing it for a while, maybe I'll be brave enough to claim it! I'm sure the lower carbs and daily exercise are helping!

I have lots to do at work today. I'm going to try to have some self discipline and do work until noon. Hopefully I'll be able to get around to journals this afternoon, but I know I'll feel better if I get some real uninterrupted work time in first. This is an area I need to work on and I feel strong enough to work on it today. :sunny:

Know that I'm thinking of all of you, even if I don't get to journals! My WISH-buddies are a huge part of my success!! :grouphug:

Look at Doe,

She's becoming a pro at the Cheat free clippie, 10 Days in a Row. Double Digits! WooHoo!

I'm really proud of you. It's wonderful to hear you so cheerful around DZone. Great job exercising again this morning. Do you think that is why you are feeling better during the day. You are exercising in the AM. The Pilates seems to calm you. Hmm..might try that myself. With all your exercise and staying OP, here's to goodbye 130's.

Congratulations!

hey doe, i just had a chance to catch up on your journal, and i'm so glad to hear that you're doing so well! i know the dzone is just around the corner for you, but so far, so good! i wouldn't be surprised if all of the healthy living you've been doing is helping with that ::yes::

129 on the scale! i know you're a little hesitant to actually claim that number in your siggie for fear that it will disappear, but i think that this time, it just might stick ::yes:: . you've been doing a really great job meeting your goals and staying cheat free, you deserve it :bounce:

i am so proud of you for all of the healthy living you are doing, keep up the great work. and of course, don't forget to stick your tongue out at the EVM

And your weight is low! Now this is the motivation you need to defy the Munchie Monster and stay on track! I want to see the Bear's number roll over tonight sister!

Erin, what a great quote!!

Desiree, you've got the same willpower inside you, girlfriend! Some days it's easier to find than others, but it's there!

Sharon, thanks for the water reminder. I tend to not drink as much on the weekends so I'll work hard to get it all in!

Amanda, Beth, Val, and Lisa, you all keep me smilin' and motivated!! No wonder I've been this successful for this length of time!!

So far today:
1. Meds & vitamins done!
2. Water - 5 mugs + green tea - 1 mug!
3. Food - B = 2g, S = tuna salad (2g) + string cheese (1g), L = Subway wrap (15g). Total so far today = 20g carbs. I have TONS of carbs left for dinner. I will NOT let this be an excuse to over-indulge though!
4. Exercise - done!

All I have to do is monitor my food carbs tonight and it will be another cheat free day for all my goals!! :sunny:

EDIT: 9 PM

Final recap for Saturday 3/13:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 13/13 100%
2. Water - all 5 mugs, drank the last one around 10 PM because I just HAD to make this goal....LOL! 13/13 100%
3. Food - ? 9/13 69%
4. Exercise - I had over 6 miles on my pedometer! 12/13 92%

The day started with a wonderful walk & chat and healthy lunch with Erin. We would've walked more but my cell phone rang. My daughter and her friend summoned us to see the dresses they were trying on. FYI, Erin, they both got the white sweaters and Steph got one of those tank tops that Liz likes in a beautiful peach color. No dresses or skirts....LOL!

It was time to part ways with Erin all too soon, but we had a great time as usual. The walking really flies by so quickly when you have a friend to talk to - I highly recommend finding a walking buddy.

I was feeling a bit draggy after the walk and took a nap on the drive home. Last night we got pizza and I definitely cannot call the day cheat free as far as food. It was a conscious choice I made early in the day, though.

Today, I'm feeling the beginning symptoms of the d-zone and in addition, the beginning symptoms of the cold my son had earlier this week. My plan today is to drink like crazy and try to be good to myself. We have a 2 hr. meeting this evening for my son's trip to Australia but the rest of the day is free. I'll get to church if my laundry is finished in time for me to get dressed - gotta have undies.... :teeth: !

Food will be on plan today. I have some chicken waldorf salad left and some burgers in the freezer if I don't feel like cooking.

Goals:
1. Meds & vitamins - I'll take them with breakfast.
2. Water - at least 5 mugs, one down already.
3. Food - whatever I can find that's low-carb.
4. Exercise - Pilates 20 minute deluxe workout already finished. On the weekends I don't allow myself to DIS until I get the exercise finished :p .

The big goal for today - do what I can to relax and recharge for the week ahead. With the d-zone and a cold, it could be a tough one but I can do it! :sunny:

EDIT: 8:45 AM
I rolled my bear since I met 3 goals and used one of my food cheat days to cover yesterday's food.

Yesterday the scale was back up to 130. Today it's at 132 - hello Bloat Fairy!

I do want to post the measurements I took yesterday. The second number is where I started in late August 2003.
Weight = 130 / 142 - 12 pounds lost
Bust = 38.5 / 39.5 - 1 inch lost
Chest = 32.5 / 33.5 - 1 inch lost
Waist = 31 / 34 - 3 inches lost
Hips = 38.5 / 40 - 1.5 inches lost
Thighs = 39.5 / 41 - 1.5 inches lost

I guess I'm making progress.

I promise I'm taking it easy. I've done 2 loads of wash - all finished with that. I got showered & dressed around 2 PM. I've balanced the checkbook. The rest of the time, I've been lazing around.

Goal update:
1. Meds & vitamin taken - will look for some extra vitamin C.
2. Water - I'm finishing my 5th mug and will be having more.
3. Food - I've been nibbling at the leftover chicken waldorf salad (12g) all day - it's finished now. I also had 2 Dove dark chocolates (7g). That's only 19g so far.
4. Exercise already finished.

I think this will be a cheat free day! We have DS' meeting but I think I have time for a quick nap first - thanks for the idea, Beth!

Final recap for Sunday 3/14:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 14/14 100%
2. Water - 6 mugs 14/14 100%
3. Food - 19g + 2 GS cookies (12g) + a Wendy's double cheeseburger with no bun (had to be less than 15g!) = 46g for the day. 10/14 71%
4. Exercise - Pilates 20 minute deluxe workout 13/14 93%

After using one of my food cheat days yesterday, I was worried that I'd be craving sugar all day. However, I felt very in control and I did well. I did have some chocolate but I was very careful about portion size and counting carbs. I'm proud of myself for getting right back on the low-carb path today!

Tomorrow starts another busy week which will include the d-zone and the cold that I feel coming on. I don't feel as bad tonight so maybe all that water helped?? I'm going to work extra hard to stay relaxed and drink all my water. If any asks me to do anything extra, I'm gonna say no!

Time to roll my bear & head to bed. Sweet dreams, all!

Doreen - here's to you having a good week despite the dzone and your cold. I'm sure that getting in your water helped today - I know people often get dehydrated when they are sick so getting in all your water has to be good for you. Also good job on getting in your pilates - I did some today too, a lower body toning routine. Knowing that you, even though not at 100%, can get in your exercise helps me find the motivation to get moving. I hope tomorrow's work won't be too bad - take care of yourself first, but you know that already.

Stephanie, sounds like I have a Pilates buddy!! Good for you! I think Pilates may finally be the exercise that I can stick with. I find the stretching aspect really helps me feel loose and limber, the slower pace of many of the exercises feels almost like yoga, but the abs, thighs and bum get challenged enough that I feel like I'm working those muscles. I like the exercises much better when I'm going at my own pace and NOT doing them with the DVD.

Here we go, boldly striding into Monday. I'm dragging today but I'm doing my best to put on a happy face and do what needs to be done - no moping! I'll save that for later in the week! :p

Goals today:
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water - 2 mugs down, 3 more to go - at a minimum!
3. Food - B was a protein bar (3g). L will be a cheeseburger (2g). S will be string cheese (2g). D will be ?. I have nothing planned. We have to take the puppy to the vet for her annual physical so there won't be time to cook. We did Wendy's last night. I see a problem here. I'd better give this some thought today!
4. Exercise - Pilates 20 minute deluxe workout done! The routine seems to be DH getting ready for work, radio on, the two of us chatting, me on the floor doing my exercises, and puppy trying to "help" me! :p It's quite a picture but it still manages to feel like a relaxing way to start the day and something I can live with long-term.

I'm in good shape with everything except dinner. I could send DH to pick up Subway if things REALLY get hectic. :teeth: Well, at least I have a backup plan now!

I won't be able to get to journals today - too much to do at work. I feel like I'm neglecting everyone and missing out but work needs to come first. I'll get caught up when things slow down a bit. Know that I'm thinking of all of you, keeping each one of you in my prayers, and looking forward to catching up when I can. :grouphug:

Having Subway as a plan on a hectic night sounds like a good idea; I hope Maya makes out OK at the vet. I had a dream last night I was tossing Mickey chicken legs for dinner. Wonder where I got that????

I hope you day is full of smiles, though it's probably a safe bet that none of your co-workers will tell you her brother has a sore hiney, and if one does--run the other way. :p

I'm hanging in there!

1. Meds & vitamins - check
2. Water - I've had 5 mugs and am working on the 6th!
3. Food - B protein bar (3g), S trail mix (15g), L cheeseburger (2g). Then I started craving junk from the EVM. I ate another protein bar instead (3g). That puts me at 23g carbs so far today. I'm going to chew some Trident to keep my mouth occupied.
4. Exercise - check.

I'm doing great so far - just gotta keep my carb intake in line for the rest of the day. I can do this! ::yes::

EDIT: 5:30 PM
Food update: I didn't have anything else at work. When I got home I had sf jello w/ whipped cream and 2 Dove dark chocolates (7g). That puts me at 30g. I have plenty left for dinner. I have made the best choices I could considering the d-zone cravings I'm having. So far, I'm winning!

Thanks for all the sunshine, princess: Lulu....I'll need it with the snow falling outside. We're supposed to get 3-5 inches of the white stuff today and into tomorrow. Beth, how many more days until Spring???

The urge to hide under the covers and avoid the world was strong this morning but I'm here at work and I'm ready to make the most of the day.

Final recap for Monday 3/15:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 15/15 100%
2. Water - 6 mugs 15/15 100%
3. Food - 30g + Subway lc wrap (15g) + a few M&Ms (15g - I counted all the carbs!) = 60g for the day. 11/15 73%
4. Exercise - Pilates 20 minute deluxe workout 14/15 93%

Yesterday the cravings for chocolate were bad and I did give into them but only as far as my carb limit would allow. I was counting out M&Ms.....how sad!

Today looks to be tough as well but I can do it! The only goal I've met so far is my exercise - did my Pilates this morning. I will say that it was not my best effort ever, but I did it.

Lots of work on my desk - I'm really missing journals but I've got a major meeting to run on Thursday and another meeting on Friday with assignments that I have to have finished. This work stuff is really interfering with my online life!!

Maya was NOT the happy camper at the vet last night. She's a very fearful dog and we ended up having to muzzle her to prevent her from biting out of fear. She was much better behaved after that - go figure! She did get a clean bill of health and all her shots are up to date now.

Into the day!

EDIT: 9:45 AM
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water - 1 mug water and 1 mug decaf mandarin orange green tea down so far.
3. Food - B was protein bar (3g) and an apple (my one allowable fruit). L will be a cheeseburger (1g). D ? - at least I'm at home tonight - maybe 2 eggs scrambled with ham & veggies & cheese.
4. Exercise - yeah I did my Pilates 20 minute deluxe workout but maybe I'll walk a bit during lunch?

I'm getting a lot of work done. If I'm a good productive girl maybe I'll squeeze in a little reward of some time for journals this afternoon. ;)

Good Morning Doe!

The urge to hide under the covers and avoid the world was strong this morning but I'm here at work and I'm ready to make the most of the day.

You and me both today Sista! I had to talk myself into getting up and going to work. Never a good sign. As I was telling Erin I need to schedule a Mental Health Day soon :)

I have had to count out M&M's before - kinda depressing huh?

Final recap for Tuesday 3/16:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 16/16 100%
2. Water - 6 mugs 16/16 100%
3. Food - let's not even discuss it, OK? 11/16 69%
4. Exercise - Pilates 20 minute deluxe workout 15/16 94%

I am in the pit of the d-zone. Last night's food - what a fiasco! I was feeling like yesterday was a waste until I came here this morning and updated the goals above. I made 3 out of 4 goals, so at least I did SOME healthy stuff for my body, right???

Today is a new day and I think I'll strive to do what I did yesterday - meet 3 of my goals. All bets are off as far as food. I NEED chocolate today. I'm tired and weak and cranky and adding the pressure of food today is NOT going to help me. I'm going to try to not binge and just eat healthier stuff, even if it's carbier than usual.

Goals today:
1. Meds taken - gotta refill my water mug to take my vitamins.
2. Water - 1 mug down, 4 to go.
3. Food - I'll be eating today.
4. Exercise - none yet - I'm lucky I crawled out of bed at all this morning, Pilates was NOT an option. I WILL get this done sometime today.

Another goal today - not bite anyone's head off... Erin, I really NEED a sign on my desk today warning people to just leave me alone. I'll use all my energy to meet my 3 goals and be civil. Aren't you all glad we're cyber-friends and not every-day face-to-face friends??? :hyper:

I have a mountain of work on my desk. I'm going to get some of it done now.

i'm so sorry that you are in the middle of that awful dzone. i know that it's so rough on you, i understand the need for chocolate! i had to add to the m&m's counting thing...is it sad that i know that there are 4.6 calories in each m&m? yeah...i know, that's a bit crazy to know. better to know that 11 are 1 point, but the fact that i know the breakdown for each one...kinda scary

since this is such a hard time of the month for you, i think it's absolutely acceptable to reach 3 of your 4 goals, actually, i think it's *commendable* that you can do that. as long as you make the best choices you can with your food, you're doing just fine. and if that includes medicinal chocolate, well, so be it. you just have to listen to your body, i'd say going for the chocolate is a better trade off than biting off someone's head :p (but if you must do both, go for it anyway :p )

i knwo you posted in my journal that you've been so busy and haven't had time to catch up with journals, just like me! and you told me not to be so hard on myself, so i'm here to tell you exactly the same thing. i think we really are sometimes too hard on ourselves, and we need to remember that our wish buddies know we're thinking about them even when we dont' ahve the chance to post to their journals. yup. that's pretty much exactly what you said to me, but i'm saying it to you anyway :) [edit: oh yeah, and i took a page out of your book and am going through journals alphabetically...except i started at "z" and went backwards :p]

alright doe, i know it will be a tough day, but i hope that you make it through okay. here's some extra :sunny: and :wizard: to help you on your way. just remember, you truly are a diva princess:

:wave2: Doe! I'm getting around to everyone's journals and just wanted to see how you are doing. I'm sorry to find you in the middle of the Dzone but you seem to be holding up well.

You mentioned how you feel like you just need chocolate at this time. I have a recipe for sugar free chocolate pudding that's more like a mousse. I made some last night for a little gathering and one of my friends who is a flight attendant on international flights told me it tasted like european mousse. That was the nicest compliment. If you are interested I can give you the quick and ridiculously easy recipe. It makes 6 servings and tastes very decadent.

WTG on the Pilates work outs! I want to try Pilates when I get to onederland.

Take care of yourself and I know you'll be looking at blue and sunny skies soon! :)

Hope you are feeling better. Just remember all of your WISH buddies are here for you. Times get hard, believe me well all know right marcia. One of the things I have found is taking a little time and food for yourself can make things a little more bearable. Yesterday I felt like I hadn't slept in 3 days. So I watched a little TV and had a few White Chocolate Reese's cups. made me feel soooo much better. Here's hoping you get through the day, and Remember a little chocolate isn't going to hurt it'll probably help. Doreen: 3 out 4 is perfectly acceptable. I'd say that is a passing grade. Medicinal chocolate is also acceptable. Whatever it takes to keep the monster on the leash and not running amok. Final recap for Wednesday 3/17:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 17/17 100%
2. Water - 5 mugs 17/17 100%
3. Food - better than Tuesday but not cheat free 11/17 65%
4. Exercise - nope 15/17 88%

I used my last food cheat day yesterday. I'm OK with that - it seems like what I needed to do to get through the day. I also used one of my exercise free days, and I'm OK with that too.

Today is a new day and I WANT to be cheat free. I'm not feeling the cravings I felt yesterday - that's a good sign.

Goals:
1. Meds taken & vitamins are waiting for me to fill up my water mug.
2. Water - 1 mug down - gotta go get more.
3. Food - B was a protein bar (2g). I have no idea about food for the rest of the day. I've used up all my snacks at work and I have nothing planned for dinner. This will be tough but I think I can make it through. :sunny:
4. Exercise - none yet but I'm hoping to fit Pilates into my evening.

I have to run a big meeting at 9 AM - guess I'd better get my materials ready so I won't be around to journals until later. I'll feel much less stressed when it's finished. There's plenty of work to keep me busy this afternoon but the tasks are manageable and I'm not stressed thinking about them - a good sign.

Tonight, we have to take DD for her 6 month eye doctor visit that I forgot to schedule - it's been 9 months now and her contacts are so bad she's having trouble seeing out of them - major Mommy guilt on that one. I know better. The good news is that she'll get a new pair tonight - the bad news is that the insurance will only pay for one new pair a year and this isn't the pair, we'll be $350 poorer. I know you can't put a price on DD's sight and I'd go without food before I'd go without her contacts, but the strain on my checkbook is a bit stressful at the moment. All will work out in time - I've just gotta have faith and put it in God's hands where it belongs.

Also, we're supposed to get another 3-4 inches of snow tonight. Is Spring EVER gonna get here???

A better question right now might be - is TOM EVER gonna get here and take this dark PMS-induced cloud away??? A week from now I'll be able to take all these things in stride as part of a normal day but at the moment, in the d-zone, they all feel like heavy weights on my mind dragging me down.

Yesterday I started out feeling the same way, but finding messages from lots of my WISH buddies in my journal had me feeling better in a couple hours. I bet that will happen today too. I'll be feeling better in a few hours. The mornings seem to be the worst for me - anyone else find this to be true??

I'm off into the day! I can do this! :sunny: I've been through worse in my life and today actually holds some sunshine and smiles if I'm willing to look for them. I could wallow in this blue mood or I can choose to look for the joy. Happiness is a state of mind and I'm going in search of it!! ::yes:: I think I'll picture myself in full Adventureland Jungle Cruise regalia, complete with hat and binoculars. I'm going walking through the jungle for an adventure to search out happiness, sunshine and joy!! :sunny:

I've come out of the meeting with some assignments that will be difficult but do-able and I'll be looking like a hero if I can pull them off - always fun! I'm looking forward to the challenge!

I was starving and had to go to 2 different EVMs (does taking the stairs count toward my exercise??) but I finally found a single packet of peanuts (2g) so I can make it until lunchtime. The carby junk in the EVMs didn't even look appealing!

Thank you all for helping me feel sunnier! :sunny: Seeing your messages has brightened my day. I can do this! :sunny:

doreen, congrats on making it through that tough meeting! you have such a great outlook for today, even though i know you are feeling less than :sunny: . i'm very proud of you for not even wanting the carby snacks in the evm! and even though the first evm did not have what you were looking for, you still didn't give in! great legal snack of peanuts, plus you had to take the stairs. that's definitely a little exercise :p

this crazy weather is definitely taking its toll on everybody around here! spring is supposedly on the way...i just fear that it will arrive and we'll still be covered in snow! but i'm sure that that glorious :sunny: will show it's face soon, melt away all the white stuff, and leave us with the beautiful colors of spring :teeth:

Goal Update - 2 PM
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water - 3 mugs down, workin' on the 4th.
3. Food - 4g + a salad (12g?) and some cantaloupe and honeydew melon (16g). Total so far is 32g but if I really get in a bind, I don't have to count the melon (my one allowable fruit today). I think I'll be fine counting it though. That leaves 28g for dinner and a legal treat - maybe a CarbSmart ice cream bar (5g I think).
4. No exercise yet.

1. Meds & vitamins taken 18/18 100%
2. Water - 5 mugs 18/18 100%
3. Food - a cheat free day at last!!! Dinner was half a Wendy's salad and a CarbSmart bar - way under the carbs I had left! 12/18 67%
4. Exercise - 1.5 mile walk w/ DS & puppy 16/18 89%

I finally met all 4 of my goals again!! I felt good yesterday! I think I'll do it again today!

Goals:
1. Meds & vitamins with breakfast at work
2. Water - yep, 5 mugs
3. Food - B will be a protein bar (2g), S will be string cheese (2g), L will be a burger (0g), S will be peanuts (2g), D will be....low-carb something! :p
4. Exercise - did my Pilates 20 minute deluxe workout already!!

TOM isn't here yet. My emotional black cloud seems to have passed but the Bloat Fairy is definitely still here. The mere thought of putting on a bra this morning sounds painful! I suppose I'd invest in some Midol if I were smart but no time to get to the store until after work. Time will work it all out, with or without Midol. :p

I'm off to get ready for work. We got more snow last night so I'll have to leave early to allow time for the slippery roads. The kids already had off school for a teacher in-service day so at least I don't have to get them out the door this morning - a blessing!

3. Food - 20g + a CarbSmart ice cream bar (5g) + ice cream (25g) - gee I really overdid the ice cream but it was what I was hungry for! 50g total 13/19 68%
4. Exercise - Pilates deluxe + 1 mile walk 17/19 89%

I was craving ice cream last night. I tried to eat the CarbSmart bar but that just didn't cut it. I wasn't hungry for anything else and the ice cream I ate satisfied me so I'm calling it cheat free!

Goals for today:
1. Meds & vitamins already taken.
2. Water - 2 mugs down, and 3 more to go
3. Food - B was a protein bar (3g). I'll be making chicken for lunch today and using the leftovers to make my yummy chicken waldorf salad. Dinner may be out with my family, my brother and my parents to celebrate their 47th anniversary - if everyone can get together tonight. Otherwise, I'll be making something at home - probably a pork roast w/ sauerkraut.
4. Exercise - Pilates deluxe workout is already done - YAY!

All I have to do is drink 3 mugs of water and watch my food. Sounds like an easy day! :sunny:

It is 12:30 in the afternoon and I am finally allowing myself to DIS!! My weekend rule of DIS until the exercise is finished is working! :p If left to my own devices I would have skipped exercise today out of sheer laziness but I can't live without the DIS!! :hyper:

Goals so far today:
1. Meds & vitamins taken with breakfast.
2. Water - working on my 4th mug already!
3. Food - B was leftover chicken waldorf salad (8g). S was 2 Dove dark chocolates (7g). Lunch will be later - still full from breakfast. I have a pork roast & sauerkraut in the crock-pot for dinner. I may just skip lunch and have a snack and an early dinner, if my body isn't very hungry.
4. Exercise - Pilates 20 minute deluxe workout already finished.

I've spent lots of time reading this weekend. I finished an interesting book called "Alkalize or Die" - will have to do some more research in this area. I'm reading "Thin Tastes Better" and taking the quizzes twice - once for the way I used to eat and once for the way I eat now. Turns out I'm already doing lots of things to help myself stay on track as far as healthy eating but I'm learning even more good stuff that I can use. I've started "The Lake House" by James Patterson (fiction). There are several more books that I'd like to get to that my DH & DS checked out from the library, including Anne Rice's "Interveiw with a Vampire" and a book about Stephen Hawking. Boy, my reading tastes really run the gamut!!

The worst of TOM will be over today and I'll be sailing into my work week tomorrow with a happy heart and a sunny attitude. :sunny:

Final recap for Sunday 3/21:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 21/21 100%
2. Water - 5 mugs 21/21 100%
3. Food - I fell apart.... 14/21 67%
4. Exercise - Pilates deluxe 19/21 90%

I met 3 of my goals yesterday. The food goal was going well until these armed men broke into my house, tied me up and forced M&Ms down my throat.....:( OK, let's be honest here. I CHOSE to eat the M&Ms that were sitting on the kitchen table. No one MADE me. Why???? Wish I could answer that one.  No rolling my clippie for yesterday - I've already used up all my food cheat days for the month of March. Hard to believe out of 3 weeks (21 days), I've cheated away 1 whole week of them (7 days). But this is reality and I'd better learn from it and move on. Thank goodness I have my other 3 goals to help me feel successful!!

I'm already struggling this morning. I was really hungry when I got to the office, so for breakfast I ate my chicken waldorf salad AND my pbj sandwich.

Goals for today:
1. Meds taken, vitamins are next.
2. Water - 1 mug down. I have decaf green tea and water - I'll get 4 more mugs down!
3. Food - B chicken waldorf salad (8g) and pbj (30g). :scared1:
4. Exercise - Pilates deluxe already finished this morning!

I've already eaten 38g carbs out of my 60g goal for the day. Part of me just wants to call today another cheat day and give up. Another part of me says I've got 22g left and that's more than some people eat in a whole day so I should suck it up and make it work. Which side will win??? I have to remember that it's my choice. Whatever I choose to do, my body has to live with. If I overdo it with poor food choices, I have to WEAR the results on my hips, thighs, etc. I think as I approach each food choice today, I'll ask myself if the food is going to help me meet my longterm goals of being healthy and fit or if it's going to set me back.

I'm going to take today as it comes, minute by minute, knowing that I can CHOOSE to eat anything I want to eat, but I have to acknowledge that my choices will either help me move forward on my path to healthy living or they will hold me back. It's up to me.

 Hey, where are you? :p I'd thought I'd pop over here
from my journal and I'd find that you'd written about your vitamins and meds on your desk and your mugs of water that you'd had. . .this is the stuff I like to know about in the morning! :D What gives?? Yeah, I know, you're a princess: and you do things in your own sweet time. That's what makes being princess: es like us so wonderfully unpredictable and special! :p

Here's some :sunny: for your own cold PA day. You know what? I couldn't care less how cold it is--Spring has sprung and the rest will follow. :Pinkbounc We can shiver through the day knowing, like you said, warm temps are coming! Someday, when we're living in Florida, we'll open our patio doors and yell across our back lawns to each other and say, "Remember back in the day when it was COLD in March?"

Yep, I've got a little Monday morning silliness going on, but I think that's probably the best way to start the week. I hope your heart is light, Doreen, and your day is filled with smiles, :goodvibes , and :wizard: .

Aww, geez, we cross posted again and missed each other. I do have to smile, though, 'cause now I can start my day knowing what's going on with you, but I am a little worried about your Monday morning. :(

So I have to say this: STOP! and think a second about this. It would seem to me that you're on an M and M sugar high from yesterday (ooh, I'll bet it was good while it was going down) and that is dramatically messing with your hunger and your cravings (hence eating salad and the PB sandwich). IF you choose to make it a cheating day, will you be happy with that tonight? Ummmmm, I'm not sure you will. IF you choose to correct the situation at hand, how will you feel then at the end of the day? Maybe you could jot down a sketchy plan for how you can save the day carb-wise, if you want to, and that could guide you through?

Like you said, you have the decision to make, and either one is OK with me and all your WISH buddies. We're here for you no matter what. We all know what those tough days are like.

 , WISH-sis,
Erin

Erin, you're right! If I want to get back on track, then a food plan for the rest of the day would be a great idea!

L will be a cheeseburger - no bun (2g). I have a protein bar (3g) stashed in my drawer if I need a snack this afternoon. I have lots of Trident gum if I need it. OK, that takes me to 43-45 g by the end of the workday. I'll have 15g for dinner. I have leftover pork & sauerkraut and leftover chicken so I'll do something low carb with one or the other. I have sf jello & whipped cream for dessert if I need it. I can do this!

Your plan for the rest of your day sounds very good. I think Erin is right about the M&M carb attack. Be extra gentle with yourself today, and you will stay cheat free today. Try to flush those carbs out of your system with lots of water.:boat: I'll be thinking about you today Doe.

I'm going to stick close to my journal today. Frequent updates here help me stay on track.

1. Meds & vitamins all taken!
2. 1 mug water and 1 mug decaf mandarin orange tea already down and I'm almost finished my 2nd mug of water.
3. Food - 38g + 1 Splenda packet for my tea (1g) = 39g.
4. Exercise already finished.

From here on out I'll only update goals 2 & 3, since I've already met goals 1 and 4.

I've got some tasks at work that are causing me a bit of stress. I'm going to work on them right now, because procrastinating will only make things more stressful, which will make it harder for me to stick to my food plan.

More later! :sunny:

You can do it Doreen. 22g left for the ENTIRE day? I KNOW you can do it. I often don't eat 22g all day long. To feel satisfied you will have to be sure to give you body alot of protein today and some healthy fats too. So focus on healthy fats and protein and I KNOW you will make it thru the day. Eggs are a perfect food in ratio of fat/protein/carbs --- so try to work some of them in to your meals. Maybe skip the traditional sense of supper and make a nice big 3 egg omelet with bacon and cheese and maybe a few veggies thrown in.

I'll check back later to see how you've done!:sunny:

So you still have 22 carbs left for the day - I know that you can do this! 22 carbs is a lot - there is lots of flexibility in this. I don't want to hear you are throwing in the towel already! It is only 10:30 in the morning! Nope! Sorry that just won't do! No pity party today my friend ;) Erin had the right idea - plan your menu for the rest of the day - you've already done that, now the hard part - stick through it. You know tomorrow will be easier if you get the M&M sugar out of your body today. It is tough but I know you can do it. Go for a walk at lunch today so you can burn some of those carbs.

I know you can do it! I know you really want to do it! I know you are going to turn that bear's # over tonight! Just picture me sitting besides you with our princess: hats on! We can do it ! We can do it! We can do it!

Amanda! What a great idea! I'm going to take a stroll at lunchtime - that's only 6 minutes away for me - YAY!!

I'm not even remotely hungry - guess I ate plenty this morning. Should I skip lunch and just rely on my protein bar this afternoon?

I'm working on my 3rd mug of water - I've had 2 mugs of water a mug of decaf green tea. Getting my water in will NOT be a problem!

Thanks to all of you for stopping by and encouraging me. I'm feeling stronger as the day goes on. I'm getting prepared for a stressful afternoon here at work - I've got my reference materials printed out and I've done what I can. I have to work with someone this afternoon and that's hard for me because of my limited vision. I have bifocals so I have to be really close to the computer screen to see it well and that doesn't work well with another person there too. I'll make the most of it though and it will only be for a couple hours.

I'm off for my walk! :sunny:

Thank you all for helping me through this day! I truly feel so blessed to have you all gathered around me. :grouphug:

EDIT: 1:15 PM
L was a hamburger (it was SUPPOSED to be a cheeseburger but the bun stole my cheese!  ) with mayo & a dab of mustard (2g?). That puts me at 40g so far today

I've finished my 3rd mug of water - am off to get more water and work with this other person for an hour or two.

EDIT: 3:45 PM
I'm not very hungry but I'm eating my protein bar (3g). I do not want to be starving when I walk in the house at 5:30 tonight, especially if the M&Ms are still sitting on the kitchen table. Tonight I'm going to look them in the eye and say a resounding "no, thank you!".

I did better than I thought working with my colleague. We did get some things accomplished. I have some issues to work on with our IT guys but all in all it went well. I'm in training for the rest of this week - an easy class that I've already taken. I know the material, but I have to take this 4 day class and help the instructors tailor it into 2 days for our department. At least the snack bar where I'm taking the training always has nuts on hand!! :D

Now, it's just about time to head home. We have nothing on the agenda tonight. I think I'll round up the last two pieces of documentation we need for our taxes.

I'm physically and mentally very tired but I have not crashed and ceased to function in spite of the stresses and busyness at work and at home. I'm feeling very good about this! Maybe I'm becoming more able to handle life again?? I hope so!! ::yes::

Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers! :sunny:

Doe I have been missing you! I am glad your training is almost over, that way you can be on WISH more often! :) I know, purely selfish reasons.

I lent the book you gave me to a friend today who is trying to lose some weight since her pregnancy. She has always been a low fat person.

I only have a moment before I must be back in training.

Goals:
1. Meds & vitamins must be taken - haven't done this yet.
2. Water - at leat 60 oz. - have barely started.
3. Food - 60g or less of carbs - haven't eaten anything and I have no plan for the day.
4. Exercise - haven't done any yet.

Do we see a pattern here??? :teeth:

I'm a bit behind this morning, but I'm not going to let that derail me. I'll find a way to meet my goals today, in spite of training and a mountain of work at the office. Why, you ask??? Because I am princess: Doe-Doe of the WISH!!! ::yes:: :teeth:

Sounds like you'll be back at Vicky's this weekend. Sounds like fun to me! At least you won't be shocked when they come at you with the tape measure!:p

Today is so gorgeous; we shouldn't be working, we should be out walking! :hyper: I'm already looking forward to our next stroll.

My WISH buds, you are all wonderful!! :sunny:

The goals so far:
1. Just took my meds & vitamins!
2. Water - I've lost track but I'm sure I've had at least 35 oz. I'll be drinking more this afternoon.
3. Food - B was peanuts (2g) from the EVM. L was a Subway wrap (12g). Not sure about dinner but I'll be on track!
4. Exercise - I'm going to walk the pup as soon as I get home - at least a mile. It is GORGEOUS outside today!!! I was out in short sleeves over lunch hour!! :sunny:

I'm well on my way to a positively wonderful day! Training is officially over and I'm very pleased with all I learned. I have some serious work to get done this afternoon but I can handle it.

Tonight DD is going to a birthday sleepover at a friend's house. DS is going to play rehearsal. I think I may try to talk DH into Outback Steakhouse - we can call our order in, hop in the car with the puppy and pick it up, bring it home and have a nice quiet dinner for 2! Hmmm, I could include some candlelight and use the good china for a nice change of pace!

Tomorrow, I have to take DD to the eye doctor for new contacts. In the evening we're taking my parents out to dinner to celebrate their 47 years of wedded bliss. Sunday holds a mom-daughter shopping trip to Victoria's Secret. DD got her costumes for her dance / baton recital. Of course they are very form fitting and will require a strapless bra & some undies that don't show. I think I'll go bra shopping for me too. ;) After all, I AM a princess: !

OK, time to get back to work! :sunny:

I met all my goals today, so I'll be rolling my bear as soon as I finish this journal entry.

Final recap for Friday 3/26:
1. Meds & vitamins - yep 26/26 100%
2. Water - 64+ oz 26/26 100%
3. Food - I had 46g left for the day. D was from Outback - a burger (2g for lettuce?), half a salad and half a baked sweet potato. Dessert was 2 Dove dark chocolates (7g). I don't know the exact carb counts on the salad & sweet potato but I don't think I went over my 60g for the day - I'm calling it cheat free. 19/26 73%
4. Exercise - walked the puppy with DH for a mile 24/26 92%

Dinner was very nice, with my china, stemmed water glasses and candlelight. I tried to find some nice music on the radio, but no luck. Guess I need to buy a CD or two - any suggestions? We figured DS might walk in from play practice at any moment so we behaved ::yes:: but we enjoyed chatting over a leisurely dinner. It's wonderful that we've been married for almost 19 years and we still enjoy talking together, sharing our days and our thoughts on life and the world and raising the kids and what we'll do when we retire, etc. We are very blessed.

So now, I'm off to bed. I will be getting around to journals over the weekend! :sunny:

I can finally visit the DIS! My rule about exercising before DISing on the weekends is really helping me meet my exercise goal for the month!!

Goals today:
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water - way behind on this one! One mug down, 4 to go!
3. Food - B was an EAS chocolate fudge shake, only 1g but awfully sweet! L was 2 crab cakes (12g) and 4 Dove dark chocolates (14g). That makes 27g so far, with 33g left for dinner tonight.
4. Exercise - I strolled with the puppy for a mile.

I'm feeling good! My day has been moving along at a leisurely pace. I don't have much time - still have to gather some tax documents so I can hand everything over to my mom tonight.

I won't be hitting many journals today but tomorrow, I'll be making the rounds! ::yes::

Final recap for Saturday 3/27:
1. Meds & vitamins - yep 27/27 100%
2. Water - 64+ oz 27/27 100%
3. Food - I was doing fine even through dinner but dessert was my undoing - not a cheat free day. 19/27 70%
4. Exercise - walked the puppy 25/27 93%

Final recap for Sunday 3/28:
1. Meds & vitamins - yep 28/28 100%
2. Water - 64+ oz 28/28 100%
3. Food - Breakfast was leftover cake from last night - not a cheat free day. 19/28 68%
4. Exercise - walked the puppy 26/28 93%

Last night's dinner out with my parents and my brother was very nice. DH and I left the kids at home - they didn't want to be bored by all the adult conversation. We went back to our house after dinner so the guys could watch the NCAA basketball game and to see the kids & have dessert. It was a very nice evening and I was feeling thin in a skirt!

The cake is gone now - thank goodness! I have discovered a new trigger food for me. :teeth: I will not be bringing any more of it into the house! I'm chalking it up to a lesson learned and moving on. ::yes::

DD and I spent the afternoon at Victoria's Secret. We both found new bras. I never really thought a bra could make that much of a difference but I must say I'm a believer now!

It's been a good weekend! I neglected the food thing though and now I'm going into the week with no plan and very little food in the house. I'll be stopping by the store tomorrow evening. We don't have much running this week during the evenings so I'm hoping to get caught up then.

At least I have all the laundry caught up, including the new stuff from Vicky's. :hyper:

Now I'm off to check journals!! Can't wait to see how everyone else has been doing! :sunny:

It's 11 PM and I've only done a few journals. I'm going through them alphabetically because that's the only way I know I won't skip anyone. I did the Ls and most of the Ms tonight. I'll finish the Ms tomorrow and move on.

There's got to a way for me to keep up with everyone - I really miss getting around to them. However I must be realistic and limit myself to only so much time a day. Please bear with me until I get to all of you. Know that you're all in my thoughts and prayers daily, even when I can't get to all the journals.

:sunny: I'm at work and feeling a little tired but a lot sunny! :sunny:

DD couldn't sleep last night - we MUST work on this because it's hurting my sleep too! I finally got to bed around 1:30 AM. Needless to say, I did NOT get up early to do my Pilates this morning. I've been missing it - I really love the stretching and the ab work and I feel better the whole day. However, I must get to bed by 9:30 or I just need the sleep more than I need the exercise. I can't burn the candle at both ends.

Today:
1. Meds & vitamins - gotta take 'em.
2. Water - gotta drink at least 60 oz.
3. Food - gotta eat no more than 60g carbs, but I have no plan in place and no emergency snacks with me.
4. Exercise - gotta do Pilates deluxe or walk a mile.

I'm behind the 8 ball already but when has that ever stopped me? :p Today is back to business and on plan! ::yes:: I'll be rolling my bear's number tonight!

It was fun to get dressed this morning! Even though no one can see what I'm wearing underneath, I FEEL better about how I look. Guess that trip to Victoria's Secret was worth it, even if DH said he can't tell a difference. Don't men know there are times when they are supposed to SAY what we want to hear? I mean, I'm not all that excited when he gets a new gadget at Home Depot but I ooohhh and ahhhh over it because I know HE likes it. Maybe he really IS from Mars! :teeth: Oh well, he has other endearing traits - guess I'll cut him a break.

Here I go, boldly embarking on a Monday adventure! Lots of work at the office, but I can handle it.....I think. :p I'll just take baby steps and all will be fine. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be good enough. ::yes::

Wow what a :sunny: attitude you have this morning!!! It's amazing just buying new clothes (or underwear) makes you feel better. Your DH probably doesn't notice, since he's around you every day. I guess it's hard to see those little changes each day and those that aren't around you much will probably notice a huge difference! So, you should cut him some slack there! :)

Desiree and married2grumpy, I guess I'll give DH a break. My 15yo DD went with me and SHE can tell the difference! :p I'll have to look to her for my encouragement!

Lisa, always nice to have you stop in and encourage me! I am walking on air today! Who knew a bra could have such an impact??

Marsha, I'm determined to try to find a happy balance on these journals! I refuse to give them up - they are my lifeline some days! But I also need to keep my priorities straight and handle my obligations in the real world too. We'll both find a way that works for us! ::yes::

Amanda, I bought 5 new bras (so I can get through the work week without doing laundry!). You see, I could not bear to go to work "perky" one day and "saggy" the next day so I HAD to get 5, right?? I'm still trying to justify all the $$! :p

So far today:
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water - 12 oz. down.
3. Food - B was 4 slices bacon (0g) and some honeydew & cantaloupe (about 16g).
4. Exercise - none yet.

Things are looking up for my goals! At least I've started on them now. I'm not getting much done at work and I really must buckle down! I've finished the M journals through the R journals and will start on the Ss after I get some real work done. :p Oh, if only I could get paid to DIS!!! :teeth:

EDIT: 1:15 PM
2. 24 oz water down - need 3 more mugs!
3. 16g + salad (12g) + peanuts (2g) = 30g

EDIT: 4:15 PM
Fell off the wagon and landed right in front of the EVM! Will I never learn?? I'm going to go home and make a lovely low carb dinner and not go off plan any more today! ::yes::

I'm not sure what was up with yesterday. It all fell apart mid-afternoon and went downhill from there. I was tired. I'd been up late the night before with my daughter - usual bedtime is 9:30 but I was up until 1:30. I was exhausted when the alarm went off at 5:30, didn't get my exercise in, felt totally unprepared for the day. I tried my best until mid-afternoon and then just gave in to the tiredness and said "whatever!".

Final recap for Monday 3/29:
1. Meds & vitamins - yep 29/29 100%
2. Water - 60+ oz 29/29 100%
3. Food - ate plenty but not low-carb 19/29 66%
4. Exercise - none 26/29 90%

Last night, I had everyone in the house in bed at 9:30 PM! We all slept peacefully and soundly. I'm feeling better this morning.

Today:
1. Need to take meds & vitamins.
2. Need to drink 5 mugs of water.
3. Need to eat 60g carbs or less and NO peanut M&Ms!
4. Exercise - I did Pilates deluxe this morning! :D

The food will be a struggle again. I really need to get to the store - no more low carb stuff left in the house! I was just too tired to go last night. Tonight's the night!! I'll have to buy stuff at work. I need to make sure I get enough protein. Another problem yesterday was that I only had bacon & fruit for breakfast, peanuts for snack and a salad for lunch and with only a little protein in it, I was hungry by mid-afternoon. Today I'll make sure I get a burger or some other protein to help me avoid the EVM.

I must wrap this up and go find some healthy breakfast food!

EDIT: 9:30 AM
1. Meds & vitamins taken
2. Water - 1 mug down, 4 to go
3. Food - sausage patty (0g) not much of a selection in the cafeteria

Hi Doe! It is amazing how when we are tired we seem to fall off the wagon easier. I was there on Sunday - nothing kept me from being off program except that I was tired and just didn't care. No worries though - we will get through this as well.

Again I keep telling myself that although I want to keep the weight off I won't be able to avoid pizza and pasta forever. Once I start on maintence (sp?) I will occasionally have these treats. I'm glad that you are feeling better today and I know you will make good decisions. Keep up your amount of protein and fat so that your body doesn't start storing fat for you!

"Accomplishing a goal is not as important as the person you become accomplishing it."
–– Neil Armstrong

Earlier today I posted the following in Erin's journal. I wanted to copy it here so I can remember it.

***
We focus so much on our goal. We yearn for it, we work long and tirelessly to attain it, we achieve it,.....and then what?? You're right, it's a part of all life's big events. I struggle with it to some extent after every Disney trip. In a way, I'm dreading the half marathon, because I know this same feeling will hit me.

But every time I worry about those feelings, I look at the alternative. If I never set any goals, if I never try, then what kind of a life would that be? Would I be happier? I know I wouldn't.

When I look back on my life, it is the big events I remember, the big achievements I'm proud of. I don't remember those feelings afterward. I think the time after is a time to regroup, to recharge and to search for the next goal, to come to terms with all you've achieved and the hard work it took to get there, to look at how you've changed and grown in the process.

That's what it's about, right? It isn't about the achievement as much as it's about how we've had to grow and stretch and challenge ourselves to attain it. We're better people, wiser and stronger, just because we set the goal and strived to achieve it. We can feel better about ourselves because we went the distance and didn't give up in the face of obstacles.

Oh my, now I've gotten all philosophical in your journal. Thanks, though, for the opportunity to reflect on what it means to set our goals and then work toward them. There are times when I wonder why I do it? Why not just live moment to moment and forget about this goal stuff that can be so hard! Now I think I see - it's not about the goal, it's about discovering a better me!

Hi Doreen! I had just had to come by and say hello and thanks for the wonderful comments you made on my journal. I'm trying really hard to hang in there. I've said it a million times before, but I'll say it again, it's ladies like you on this board that have helped me stay in the game. Thank you so much.

Your thoughts on reaching goals are what I've been thinking as well. Once I reach goal, what then? But you're right, life is all about always having something to reach out for, something new to attain. Very thought provoking subject you brought up!:scratchin

Have a beautiful day Doreen!:sunny:

than peanut m & m's in the EVM. (I keep oz. bags of almonds & macadamias in my purse all the time. I'd love them to be chocolate coated, but settle for something crunchie and salty. The pre-measured amount keeps me from going off the deep end on them too.)

You've been pretty busy with training (I know it's also work, but the real work doesn't stop just 'cause you're training) and family. I guess peanut m & m's are the least of your worries. Good for you for getting your pilates in before your day starts!

Your trip to VS reminded me that I need to get in there and get some new bras myself...I really want to try the newer, more supportive Body by Victoria ones. The regular Body ones are so comfortable and have lasted me longer than any other brand I've tried in the last 5 years.

Yeah for Spring! Get out in the nicer weather and do some real "training"!

Final recap for Tuesday 3/30:
1. Meds & vitamins - yep 30/30 100%
2. Water - didn't drink enough! 29/30 97%
3. Food - sausage patty (0g), peanuts (2g), protein bar (3g), 2 Dove dark chocolates (7g), Lean Cuisine meal (16g), sf jello w/ whipped cream (0g) = 28g total = cheat free for me!! 20/30 67%
4. Exercise - Pilates deluxe 27/30 90%

Well, I don't get to roll my bear - I didn't DRINK enough!

At least I did well with food yesterday! I kept remembering Lisa Z.'s concept that a cheat is not about eating the wrong foods, it's about breaking a promise to myself. This new concept has really struck a chord with me and cheating does not seem to have the appeal it did a day ago.

So far today:
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water - 1 mug down, 4 to go.
3. Food - 2 string cheese (2g).
4. Exercise - Pilates deluxe already done.

I'm well on my way today. Food - oh my!! I was just too tired to go to the store last night. At least I brought string cheese with me today. It will be another struggle but that's life, right?

I can't believe today is the last day of March! The monthly goals have really kept me on track more than I would have been and I'm grateful to Amanda for the idea. Now I'll have to set some new goals for April!

Meds & vitamins - what a great goal this has been! Because I have to write it in my journal daily, it ensures that I won't forget. My goal was 100% and I've achieved it! I'm keeping this goal because those meds & vitamins are very important 100% of the time.

Water - my goal was 60 oz a day 100% of the time. I almost made it! Yesterday I goofed & didn't get enough. However, just writing the goal every day is a great reminder to me. I'm going to keep this goal also!

Exercise - my goal was Pilates or a mile walk 25 out of 31 days, allowing myself 6 days off. I've managed to exercise 28 out of 31 days - 90%!! I'm really proud of myself for this one because it isn't always easy. Getting Pilates done first thing in the AM has been very helpful! I do want to set an exercise goal, but I think I'm going to have to raise the bar on this one somehow. I'll make it Pilates AND a mile walk (even if it's WATP!) or 15 minutes of aerobic exercise of some kind 25 out of 31 days.

Food - my goal was 60g carbs or less for 25 out of 31 days. If I'm cheat free today, I'll have 21 out of 31 days - about 68%. I'm rather disappointed in myself on this one. How do I expect to lose weight and be healthy by following the rules only 2/3 of the time? I think I'd better set the same goal and try to do better!

Four goals seem like enough! It looks like 3 goals will stay the same and my exercise goal will get bumped up a bit - as it should be! My weight has stayed the same over the course of March - maybe if I meet these goals, it'll go down a bit???

Enough for now - I must get some work done! :sunny:

Wow Doe,

Way to analyze your goals! you've already prioritized for next month too. Now, about being dissappointed with yourself over eating. You did a great job. it seems to me that you are in maintainace. You maintained your weight for the month. That does not mean that you shouldn't strive to eat better for the month, but you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You reached 3 out od four goals. That is amazing. You are doing a fabulous job, and continue to be one of my inspirations. Ok, rant over.

I know you will stay cheat free today. It is worked into your stats. :p I hope it is a peaceful, stressfree day. Stick out your tongue at EVM for me.

I had to laugh this morning as I was catching up on Erin's journal when I read your post. I am also in the middle of Interview with the Vampire! I read it in high school and I wanted to re read it now and see if it was as weird as I remembered. Pretty weird!

You did great on your goals. Look back and see what your percentage was for January and February - the important thing is that we increase our cheat free days every month. Remember sweetie nobody is perfect. I'm going to be doing some reassesing of goals as well.

I hope you get a chance to go to the store today and stock up on some low carb items! They are so important to have around so you are not tempted to eat bad stuff.

hey doreen! i must say, i'm super impressed with your commitment to your goals. just the fact that you consciously detailed out each one each day, whether or not you met it, is a step in the right direction. but you have done a wonderful job meeting most of your goals for the month! sure, you came in a little low on the food one, but amanda's right...check out how you've progressed from january and february, i'm thinking you had a better percentage this month.

how bout making a goal today of getting to the grocery store to stock up on cheat free food! i know you are in desperate need of some, you have to do this for you. you'll be much more likely to stay OP if you have your legal foods ::yes::

hope everything goes well for you today :sunny:

Beth, I'll have to stick out my tongue at the EVM from far away - I'm not even ENTERING that room!! :rotfl:

Actually the 68% of good food days in March is about the same as my January stats. I don't think I kept track in February. At least I'm not getting worse! ::yes::

Amanda, that book is STRANGE! I'm almost finished - 10 pages to go. The funny thing is that someone recommended it to my 16 yr old DS - not sure what he would make of it! He won't read it - he'd be bored within the first 20 pages and give up. I think I'm happy about that, although he's in 10th grade and you read it in high school.... I don't think he'd "get" a lot of it.

Marcia and Amanda, I will do my best to get to the store tonight. I've just been so darn tired in the evenings that it was a struggle just to stay awake, much less go to the store. You both are very right - I've got to have some low carb stuff easily available. On Sunday night, dinner was a bowl of Cap'n Crunch cereal! We DON'T want a repeat of that! :p Besides, the puppy is out of food - can't let her starve!

Goal update:
2. Water - 3 mugs down, working on #4!
3. Food - 2g + huge cheeseburger w/ mayo & mustard (3g). 5g so far today. Peanuts (2g) will be snack this afternoon around 3 PM so I'm not starving when I get home. Dinner will be something I pick up when I go to the grocery store! ::yes::

I don't remember what I thought of it in high school. It was a very strange book for me to read - but then I did go on to read other books by Anne Rice that I really enjoyed. If you want a really weird book read The Witching Hour by Rice - it is LONG and very strange.

I was reading more adult books at a very young age though. I read "Flowers in the Attic" when I was 11 years old. :)

Amanda, we've found something else we share!! I was quite a precocious reader too and read "Flowers in the Attic" sometime in my early teens.

2. Water - 4 mugs down, will drink more at home.
3. 5g + a peanut bar (26g) from the EVM. There were no peanuts!! I was NOT binging - I wanted to eat something before I headed home so I would not be starving. This truly was the lowest carb choice available to me. I'm at 31g for the day - still can make it cheat free!

Hi Doe,

I know you can do it. You've still got 29 carbs for the day. I liked the Witching Hour, but I didn't like the followup Lasher. Actually, there's a funny story about Anne Rice books. The year I started reading the Anne Rice books, my DM got me all she could come up with for christmas one year. Anne Rice also writes under a pseudonym. Under the other name, it's erotica. My DM got her 16yo daughter 4 erotica books for christmas. She was mortified when she found out 3 yrs later. She found out by starting to read the Sleeping Beauty. She didn't read the back cover. Did I mention that my Mom actually was in a convent to become a nun? She met my dad 1.5 yrs into it.

Have a good one

Beth - all I can say is "oh my!! "!! What a great story!! Can't say that my mom bought me any books like that! ;)

Sharon - if I have inspired you in any way, that's only the payback for you inspiring me! I just got back from walking the puppy. We "power-walked" up a long steep hill and I was thinking of you and your *evil* stepper! :p What a workout for the glutes!!

2. Water - still need to drink 12 oz, and I'll be doing that just as soon as I finish this entry!
3. Food - I'm stuck at 31g for the day. Still haven't eaten anything else.

I went straight from work to the grocery store. After an hour and a half and a hefty bill, I came home and put everything away. I was too tired to cook at that point and told everyone to fend for themselves. I took a 10 minute power nap, read a little and walked the puppy.

I'll go try to find something that looks appetizing in the kitchen only because I know I have to eat something but honestly, I'm really just not hungry.

I'm off to get my 12 oz of water and my bedtime snack. :sunny:

Good morning all!! :grouphug:

I'm at home today. I called off sick. I was even more exhausted this morning plus I'm having some "intestinal discomfort" - is that tactful or what?? :p

Goals:
1. Meds & vitamins - I'll take them as soon as I eat some solid food.
2. Water - haven't had any yet but I'll be starting soon.
3. Food - had a protein shake (1g). So far that's sitting pretty well but solid food just isn't sounding good at all. I don't think I'll have any problems keeping it under 60g carbs today. :p
4. Exercise - I walked the puppy for 15 minutes so if I can get my Pilates done I'll finally meet this goal! :Pinkbounc

I'm physically tired & feeling a bit sick but my mental attitude is pretty sunny. The sun is shining and the sky is blue! :sunny: It's a bit cold outside but it sure does look pretty!

Many of you know I have a min-dachshund, Maya. Many of you don't know that we raised her to use a litter pan. There's special puppy litter but it basically works the same as a cat's litter pan. DH has decided that it's time to teach her to go outside, but of course no one else in the family wants to take the time to train her - more fun for me!! Wish me luck as I retrain my almost 3 year old doxie! She's afraid of the outside - shakes whenever I put her collar on so this may be an uphill battle.

Anyway, I'll get around to journals later today. For now, I'm going to rest and relax and let my body fix whatever it's not happy about.

I'm still sick to my stomach and I have a headache but I'm at work. I did not sleep well at all last night and had the strangest unsettling dreams when I did sleep. I doubt if I'll be productive but my employer seems to value attendance more than productivity.

I did eat some of the new low carb Total cereal (16g carbs with the milk) this morning and took my meds. I don't think that helped my tummy but I didn't want to go without my antidepressant 2 days in a row. I haven't taken my vitamins yet - will hopefully be feeling better later. Even my water is not sitting well in my tummy.

OK, enough whining from me! The fact is that I'm at work and I have lots to do so I cannot spend the day feeling sorry for myself or wishing I was at home. If anyone sees my sunny attitude wandering around, would you please send it back to me? :teeth:

I'm hoping everyone else is having a better day. One of my favorite sayings applies to my situation - "this, too, shall pass!".

Hi Doe,

I hope you are feeling better soon. Here's some healing:wizard: for you. Take it easy on yourself today. If your tummy is still upset, maybe you could try some low carb toast with peanut butter for protein. Keep drinking your tea, sweetie.

How was the total? I picked up a box. I'll probably try it in the AM.

Oh Doe I am sorry to hear that you are feeling bad. I hate to be sick, so I can only imagine how awful you must feel! I'm sending lots of Cyber  and :wizard: to you. I'll also try to send your :sunny: attitude back to you.

Be sure to take care of you today. You might want to try some diet white soda for setteling your tummy. Otherwise it is okay to go off plan to help feel better.

I sure hope you are feeling better - yucky tummy problems - tell them to go away!

I'm happy to hear that it's just the tummy though and not the D-monster. No good to have both.

Your goals have inspired me...dare I make some of my own? Thanks for stopping by my journal over the weekend. A "litter box trained puppy" - wow! We have a "littermaid" autoclean-litter box for the cats, but it's kind of like have a house full of children and only one bathroom. It's a revolving door - but much easier to keep clean.;)

 to you, my dear friend, Princess Doe-Doe. Here I am, off spending money at our favorite walking mall (it wasn't quite the same without you, I must say), and you're home feeling all sick. I'm so sorry. :guilty: I hope you're starting to feel better.

How are things with Maya? I think the litter box thing is fascinating; how is Maya taking to the great outdoors?

Hmmm, you've had a day or two off plan. Sorry, nope, you can't compare to me--I haven't moved my clippie since March 31st! Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not proud or anything, but I hope you're not despairing because you're sick and don't feel like Pilates. Bag it until you feel better and then you can do it happily once again! :Pinkbounc The same with eating and everything--listen to your body; you'll know what to do.

Here's another  , Doreen. Please get well soon. ::yes::

Well, I know you left some sunshine in my journal, and I'm sure in others - and with you feeling sick too. So I think it must be there with you still:teeth:

Final recap for Wednesday 4/7
1. Meds (yes) & vitamins (no) 5/7 71%
2. Water - did better than yesterday but not enough for goal 5/7 71%
3. Food - not even close to low carb 5/7 71%
4. Exercise - walked the puppy (.5) 4/7 57%

Yesterday is in the past. Today is where it's at and I'm feeling better! I'm not at 100% yet but it will be an on-plan make-all-the-goals kind of day! :sunny:

Apparently my sunny attitude has found it's way home! :teeth: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I managed to take my meds yesterday (even though they made my tummy sicker!) and I slept much better last night - must've had something to do with me feeling better today!

Today:
1. Meds & vitamins with breakfast.
2. Water - all 5 mugs!
3. Food - B = string cheese, apple w/ PB, L = burger w/ mayo & mustard, S = 7 almonds, 5 baby carrots, D = ?? - nothing planned yet.
4. Exercise - didn't do my Pilates this morning so I doubt it will get done. I do plan to walk the puppy if it isn't raining tonight.

The puppy training is fizzling. Maya is so scared of the outside that I'm working on that first. She used to run and hide when I jingled her collar & leash. Now she will at least stand about 10 feet away from me and watch me. Last night I walked outside into the back yard and left the door open and she was brave enough to venture out and run to me. She didn't fight when I bent down to put her collar on. I would not recommend letting most dogs have access to the great outdoors without a leash but Maya is such a scared puppy that she will run directly to me and stay within one foot of me at all times. After I put her collar on we had a nice run around the back yard and then took our usual 15 minute walk. I always take her on the same route so she can become more confident and relaxed, knowing what to expect. The outdoor potty training will have to wait until she is happy to have her collar and leash put on and go outdoors or until DH decides to fence in our yard (like THAT'S gonna happen!). DH will just have to get over it. :p

I spent lots of yesterday catching up on journals - did all the As thru most of the Ss. I'll be finishing the rest today. I love catching up with what's going on in everyone's journals!! Everyone here is such an inspiration to me! I can see myself in so many of the posts - when I've been doing well or when I've struggled. It's great to know we've all got each other for support and encouragement! I would have given up long ago if it weren't for these journals! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hi Doe,

I'm so happy that you are feeling better this morning. Just remember to take it easy. It sounds like you have the right approach with Maya. You can't expect her to train while terrified. Poor Puppy. This is going to be a long process.

Your plan looks sound. I hope you have a good day.

I'm just catching up with you. It sounds like your sunny disposition is back today! I hope training your doggie to go outside works out for you. I recently heard from one of my co-workers about doggie litter boxes and all I could think of was didn't I think of it first!

I love reading your journal as well as all my other WISH buddies and know I couldn't have gotten as far as I have on this long journey without the support and encouragement I get from reading journals and posting my own. It's nice to have friends on this road to health, fitness and success! {{{hugs}}} to you!

I'm feeling better and better today!

Goals so far:
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water - working on my last mug!
3. Food - followed my plan from this morning to the letter! I still don't know what I'll have for dinner though - I see a danger spot looming!
4. Exercise - none yet.

Hey, I'm doing pretty well so far! I've turned up my nose at the EVM - gotta nip those cravings in the bud! I've even gotten a good amount of real work done today - am feeling more confident about that also!

Life is good! :sunny:

Thanks for the info on SB. I also wanted to say that I know what you mean about not planning each meal. When I have no plan, I make poor choices. That is what is so great about Atkins, I pretty much know what I am going to eat every meal.

Anyway, have a nice weekend,

Final recap for Thursday 4/8
1. Meds & vitamins - yes! 6/8 75%
2. Water - drank all 5 mugs! 6/8 75%
3. Food - cheat free! Dinner was a Subway wrap! 6/8 75%
4. Exercise - none. 4/8 50%

I made 3 of my 4 goals - not bad at all! I just can't seem to get back into the exercise groove, but it will come in good time. I'm not going to obsess about it at the moment.

Today:
1. Meds (yes) & vitamins (will take shortly)
2. Water - 1 mug down, 4 to go
3. Food - B = string cheese & apple w/ PB, L = burger w/ mayo & mustard, S = 7 almonds & 5 baby carrots. D is up in the air again. Over the weekend I hope to plan some meals and have more stuff ready to go, like tuna salad.
4. Exercise - none yet but walking the puppy looks like a good bet this afternoon!

I am at work - this is not a holiday for us. I usually ride to work in a vanpool but the vanpool did not go today. I drove in by myself. This wouldn't be a big deal for most people but I only drive in my local town because of my bad eyesight (I have a daylight only license). I borrowed the vanpool's pass for the parking garage, but when I got here, the garage was closed! Now my van is parked on the street at a meter that sucks down $1.50 an hour with a 2 hour limit. I'm a bit stressed, to say the least. I'm trying to take all this in stride - I know lots of people deal with this on a daily basis - but I'm finding it hard to relax. I keep doing breathing exercises every few minutes to calm my nerves. Then I get the fun of driving home! Maybe I should put in a vacation day slip and just go home now! Of course I have one meeting and I'll have to move the van right in the middle of it. Maybe I'll leave at lunchtime. If anyone has any spare prayers this morning, please send one up for me.

OK, I've written enough of a novel. I tend to babble when I'm nervous. :p

Onward into a :sunny: Friday!

You are definately in my prayers today. It is ok to be nervous today. You started out your day out of your comfort zone. You are also dealing with something that is ongoing-moving the car every 2 hours. You will make today. If you feel it is too much, taking off at lunchis a great idea. You would also get a jump start on the weekend. At lunch, maybe you could take a walk before you decide. It might help center you. Doe, with stress you might get an attack of the munchies. Watch out for EVM. Keep up the deep breathing.

I'll be sending you:goodvibes :wizard: and:sunny: .

Beth, Tracy & Sharon - thanks soooo much for your prayers and encouragement! Boy do I need them today! :grouphug:

I had a friend at work move my car for me. Now I'm only paying $1.00 an hour and hopefully can leave my car there for the rest of the day. I'm feeling better - a little less stressed. At lunch, I'll walk down to the garage and see if they're open - if so, then I'll move the car to there so I won't have to worry about running out to put money in the meter this afternoon. I can get through this!

Beth, thanks for the munchie monster warning! I can feel it trying to rear it's ugly head but so far I'm keeping a lid on it. I may eat 2 snacks today (of food that's on plan) just to keep from feeling hungry at all. A couple extra good carbs are certainly better than those peanut M&Ms in the EVM, especially since I can rarely stop with only ONE pack of M&Ms!

I was productive at my meeting this morning. Now I've got some work at my desk to take care of. I can start to breathe easier.

Since I've had such a stressful day, though, maybe I can talk DH into taking me out for dinner! ;) Hmmm, Outback sounds good or our local hangout, Hennigan's - pretty much any place where someone will take my order & bring my food to the table will do! :p

Well, I made it home without any trouble - YAY!

I won't be going out to dinner. My 14 yr old DD & two friends were supposed to have a sleepover at one of THEIR houses - now they're all here for the night. I don't really mind - they're all good kids and they'll have a great time together. At the moment they're out decorating the driveway with sidewalk chalk and playing hopscotch! :p I'm hardboiling 3 dozen eggs for them to dye later. Gotta keep 'em busy!! :p

Thank you all for encouraging me today. I feel much better now that I'm home again. :grouphug:

You've been through the ringer today - I'm so sorry. But you have survived!

The admin part of our office are all out today - funny I thought we'd traded Jan. 2 for Good Friday this year - but the other half of the building didn't seem to see things that way. (They took off most of the time between Christmas eve and Jan. 5 too.) The only good thing about them being gone is that there is actually a place for the late afternoon TV crew to park today!

Have an absolutely delightful time decorating eggs with DD and her friends. It sounds like such fun!

Oh, look! A journal to help me on my road to healthy living!! What's healthy living again?? I must've taken a detour somewhere because I've been nowhere even close to the healthy living road.

Today is a new day, but it IS Easter Sunday. Now, I do NOT want to use this as an excuse to binge (boy, do I KNOW what binge eating feels like! ) but I am going to cut myself a little slack when we are out and about today.

So my goals for today are pretty simple. Take my meds (which I missed again yesterday) and do not binge-eat. Be conscious about what goes in my mouth.

I'm deep in the D-Zone AND trying to find my way back to the healthy living road, so I'm taking baby steps today - take meds & no binge. That's it! Anything else is a bonus.

Tomorrow I think I'll try to get back to business as usual. I miss it! I miss the structure and the habits and feeling good and feeling comfortable knowing I'm doing the best I can for me. I WANT to get back on the wagon, so I'll be moving in that direction. I may do limited goals again tomorrow but I'll be making steady progress back to my healthy living road. I feel at home there - I want to go home.

I wish you all a blessed Easter Sunday.:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I met my goals yesterday of taking my meds and not binging.....baby steps, baby steps. ::yes::

Today is a new day! I started my morning right with my Pilates deluxe routine - felt good! Now I'm at work and ready to dive into all the tasks of my day. I can't stay on WISH today and read journals - got WORK to do! :p I'm thinking of everyone though and I'll be getting around to journals soon enough! ::yes::

Goals today:
1. Meds & vitamins must be taken.
2. 5 mugs of water.
3. Food - 60g carbs or less.
4. Exercise - Pilates deluxe done and a 15 minute walk sometime today.

Back to business! Back to my familiar healthy living routines, my comfort zone! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

3. B = 5 baby carrots, 7 almonds, 1 string cheese, apple w/ PB - I was hungry! :p
