Ohh... the Da Vinci Code....I've been wanting to read that. I'll have to see how long the waiting list at my Library is for it. Sounds like you have a wonderful day planned!
I think you are on the right track about maintanence - my SIL and I were having a talk last night about diets. She is of course like Brian - skinny. She is probably 5'8" or 5'9" and weighs 128 pounds usually (don't ya just hate her). She can pretty much eat whatever she wants and does. When I was explaining low carb to her (which she didn't know I was doing before) she made the comment but, "If you go off of it the weight all comes back on." And I told her something that has taken me awhile to figure out is that I'm never going to be able to eat everything I want when I want. That with my body type and metabolism I am always going to have to watch what I eat in order to maintain. Eating what I want is what put the weight on in the first place. At least with low carb I don't feel deprived. And yes I'll still have mashed potatoes and pizza (once I hit goal) but not on a regular basis. And I think during maintanence you are doing what we are suppose to do - find our balance, or a magic number if you were going to still count carbs everyday.
Let me know how the book is and have a great day!
The pictures look great! We are so darn cute!

A big :grouphug: to all my WISH buddies who have stopped by!
I read all day yesterday and finished the Da Vinci Code as DH walked in the door around 6 PM. Nothing else got done....LOL....but I finished the book! It was a great read, a real pageturner, and made me think (which I like!). Now I'm reading a Danielle Steele fluff book (Safe Harbour) to give my brain a rest while it processes everything from the Da Vinci Code. :p
My food choices have been horrendous for the past days. Believe it or not, I'm SICK of carby stuff! I feel like a blimp and the scale says 132 - up a pound.
I think I'm ready for goals today:
1. Meds and vitamins already taken.
2. I'm working on water and decaf mandarin orchard green tea. Will be trying for 64 ozs during the work-day.
3. B = honey-roasted sunflower seeds & an apple. Not sure what the rest of the day will bring, but I think I need to start journalling every bite again. I have more of a conscience when I know I'll have to post it.
That's it! I'm not going to saddle myself with too many goals. I don't want that overwhelmed feeling to come back.
As far as a healthy living lifestyle goes, I'm happy to be back at work on a normal routine. My good habits are so embedded in my workday that they don't seem like a burden. At home, they just seem like "one more thing on the already-too-long to-do list".
I'm in the last days of the d-zone. I can already see the light at the end of the tunnel. Back to business as usual and feeling pretty good about it.

Good Morning, Moreen! I know you have the power to recover from any bad choices you've made--don't worry about it. It's nice to get back into a routine. I like the idea of your small goals each day; you don't need to get overwhelmed again--take it easy! :) Oh, I thought I'd suggest a good read to you. You may have read it already, but if not, the five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom, is a great book. And, it can be read in about 1 or 2 hours! I was pleasantly surprised by it. If you've ever read Tuesdays with Morrie, it's the same author. Anyway, just thought I'd make the suggestion--Have a great day!

Thanks for the recommendations for 5 People You Meet in Heaven - I'll add it to my list! I LOVE to read and am constantly looking for new books so if anyone else has any recommendations....please let me know.
2. I'm revising my goal to 60 oz which is 5 12 oz mugs of decaf liquids. I've finished 1 mug of decaf green tea and 1 mug of water so far. 3 mugs to go!
I'm trying to get my mind on work, but am having trouble concentrating. There are some difficult issues that need to be dealt with and I'm feeling sick to my stomach with the stress.
 I'd prefer to just hide or leave work & never come back, but the bills must be paid so I'll have to find a way to get through this impasse. I'm looking for the win-win solution (thank you Steven Covey!) for all involved.
Edit: 1 PM
Still working on that 3rd mug of water.
I had some more honey roasted sunflower seeds and a grapefruit at lunch.
Edit: 2:45 PM
I gave into the EVM - TWICE! Had 2 packs of Peanut M&Ms. Why? Don't know. I do know that I'm feeling uncomfortable at work today - not competent, not focused, not up to the tasks that I need to do. I keep thinking of the elf in Rudolfph the Red-Nosed Reindeer who wanted to be a dentist instead of making toys "not happy in my work, I guess...." :(
So if I truly dislike my job and feel uncomfortable there, what does that have to do with sabotaging my weight with Peanut M&Ms????

Wow Doe - you and I could be twins today. I am feeling the same way about my job - just not happy with it and unmotivated to do anything. Maybe these feelings are what is causing you to go for the chocolate - looking for some comfort food, or something to make you smile even if for a moment. Don't stress to hard about it, and don't beat yourself up over it.   to you my friend! Keep your chin up!

Doreen - stay away from the EVM! I mean it!
It is so hard once you start eating all those bad carbs to quit eating all those bad carbs. I really believe that sugar is an addiction. I'm always craving something sweet - especially after I eat. I'm now limiting myself to an oz of sugar-free jelly bellies when I get the sugar cravings. Sad thing is that I'd rather have them than a half-cup of low-carb ice cream. But popcorn still tops my list of wants and wishes.
DH and I loved DaVinci Code - we listened to it on our long drive to my family's cabin last October. It really gets you to thinking...
More sunshine coming your way - and stay away from the EVM!

Hi Doe!
I had to stop by and see how you are doing. {{{{{Hugs}}}} to you. It is no fun to dislike the job you have to go to everyday to pay the bills. I feel like you mentioned sometimes about where I work. If I am so unhappy then I need to either do something about it or maybe I don't really dislike it as much as I say I do. Sometimes it's hard to figure out. Anyway, I hope you find the solution that is right for you.
I am interested in your experiment with your relaxed but healthy eating plan. You definitely shouldn't feel added stress in your life as a result of your way of eating and I will be following your progress - I hope it works out for you.
Please remember in the midst of taking care of everyone else, to take care of yourself!

Hi Doe! I haven't been by in a while, so I wanted to check in. I too had some difficult issues at work recently. My suggestion would be to make sure you leave that stuff at work when you leave work. Don't bring it home with you; don't talk about it to DH or any one else. My rule is, when I am at home, I am Mom or wife. When I am at work, I leave those roles at home (as much as possible) and I am Sharon. I try very hard not to let the roles overlap. My family life/issues don't belong at the office, just as the office does not belong in my home!::yes::
Beyond that, you need to stay away from the EVM!!! Make sure you have NO change when you go to work, then you can't stop by! You are doing so great, don't let a bad situation at work ruin all of your personal gains (ie healthy living). Sounds like that place has taken enough out of you; don't give it the satisfaction of taking these accomplishments from you too!:Pinkbounc
So heres hoping for :sunny: :sunny: days to come your way. Lose yourself in another book and just relax tonight.:teeth:

Sharon, your comment about work already taking enough out of me without taking away my weight loss & healthy living accomplishments is profound! I'll remember this in the days to come as I try not to let the work stuff send me to the EVM. The funny thing about my trips to the EVM today was that I KNEW I really wasn't hungry. Maybe I'll put my Trident out on my desk where I can see it so I'll remember to try that first.
Dinner was a cheeseburger - no bun - and.....french fries! I really feel like buns are just filler now but those fries were calling me. I also had 3 Dove dark chocolate promises and 2 chocolate covered strawberries.
Now I'm enjoying a glass of wine. Was it a healthy eating day?? Well, believe it or not, I feel like I restrained myself! I WANTED lots more junk food & carbs but I passed them by. On a scale of 1 (all junk) to 10 (all healthy), my day was about a 5 but it had the potential to be a 2 or 3. :D
I'm finished eating for the night. I made tons of hamburger patties on the George Foreman and I'll be freezing them so I'll have something quick to grab for those lunches at work or crazy nights at home. I haven't "cooked" for weeks so this was good.
I am celebrating today! Some of you know that I have poor vision. My driver's license limits me to daylight driving only. The sun was up long enough today that I stopped by the grocery store on the way home from work (a QUICK stop). This means that I don't have to bug DH to go to the store for me during the week - I can stop and pick stuff up on the way home. This is a blessing to me! I feel more independent when I don't have to constantly ask DH to take me out to the store - he's a busy guy and although he doesn't mind, I don't like to add more chores to his day.
My days are getting longer and filled with more :sunny: ! YAY! Can Spring be far behind??? :D

It's a new day! I was very tempted to stay under the covers today and hide from the world, but I realized that would just mean more work tomorrow! :p So I got myself ready for work and here I am! No feeling sorry for myself today!! I realize that a lot of what I'm feeling is NOT related to my job - it's just my PMS/PMDD talking, whispering things in my ear that ARE NOT TRUE!! I should be able to recognize this pattern by now - these feelings of fatigue, incompetence, over-emotional, lack of confidence, etc. They are not ME, they are related to the hormones (or lack thereof) in my system at this point in my monthly cycle. I don't have to BELIEVE all this negative stuff in my head, especially since I know that by this weekend I won't have it in my head anymore! :teeth:
I'm putting on a happy face and I'm going to do my best to sail :boat: peacefully and gracefully through my day. I won't try to overdo it, but I won't hide under the covers either.
As I sit here to write out my goals every morning, I get to the first one about the meds & vitamins, realize I haven't taken them, stop journalling and take them, just so I can say I've done it! LOL! How would I ever remember without this journal??
1. Meds & vitamins taken just now! :p
2. 5 mugs of decaf liquids. Only got 3 down yesterday so today I'm aiming for all 5!
3. B=half a PBJ sandwich, a small amount of honey roasted sunflower seeds and an apple. L will be 2 cheeseburger patties and a pink grapefruit. D - don't know but I can always stop at the store on the way home to pick something up! :bounce:
The temps today are supposed to hit 40 degrees - maybe I'll take the puppy for a quick walk when I get home!
That's it so far! After writing all this down, I feel sunnier somehow. :sunny:

 , , and more  s, dear princess: Doe-Doe. I felt bad yesterday that I couldn't respond to your rough day. . .I was at work and couldn't post (what's up with that???). Then when I came home from choir last night, I was just too much of a dishrag.
All I can say is to hang on, Doreen. Take it slow and take it small--doing what you have to do and finding little pockets of sunshine around you. You'll get through. You know that, but still it's a challenge, isn't it?
As far as the E.V.M. goes, my thought would be to tell yourself you can have peanut M &Ms if that's what you really want. . .but give yourself some time between the urge and the action. Or maybe have an M & M break time; buy a pack and enjoy them guilt and impulse free. There's nothing wrong with the food--it's just how we use it sometimes that's questionable. You know my personal preferences--"medicinal carbs." Monday was a Butterfinger, Tuesday was an iced sugar cookie. Man, oh, man, sometimes it's a struggle, isn't it?
I'm happy for the extra :sunny: in your day, Doreen, so that you can run to the store after work. Like you said, spring is on its way!
Take care, Doreen.

Hi there :sunny: Doe! You sound like you are in a much better mood this morning. Good for you! I'm also in a great mood today - who knows maybe the worse is behind us.
Your menu sounds delicious today - quick thought on Peanut Butter a friend of mine has a digestive disorder and is also low carbing (which seems to be correcting the disorder) her dietician told her that she needs to start every day with a Peanut Butter sandwich and here is why. Peanut Butter will naturally jump start your metabolism, it coats your stomach so that you can eat other foods a little bit more freely, and the nutritional benefits of Peanut Butter are numerous. Of course she reccomends Natural PB :smooth: So your breakfast was more healthy for ya then you thought. Isn't that something to get your spirits :bounce: !
I'll be thinking about us princess: today! Might have to wear my hat when I get home.

Thank you all for stopping in! I feel like I'm surrounded by my WISH friends :grouphug: and it's an uplifting feeling!
3 mugs down (2 water & 1 decaf green tea) - 2 more to go.
Lunch was just as planned - 2 burgers w/ cheese and my lovely grapefruit! It even SMELLS sunny! I've been missing fruit, so allowing myself to endulge in it has been heavenly!
I had to put my burgers & cheese in the fridge at work this morning and it's next to the EVM. I actually stuck my tongue out at that machine AND all the evil carby snacks that the coffee club people bring in on Wednesdays......I DO hope there's no hidden camera in there. :teeth:
Forgot to post earlier that the scale is up another pound today - 133! I know it's all from the Bloat Fairy and I think most of it is in my bust!! I did think of something positive though (just call me Pollyanna!!)! I wore my "big" jeans today - you know, the ones that are roomier because I feel like a beached whale?? Then I realized that these same jeans USED TO BE my "skinny" jeans.....LOL!!!
Writing here reminded me of my earlier idea to use my Trident to avoid the EVM this afternoon (my most vulnerable time!). I just popped a piece in my mouth and I'm feeling strong! :sunny:

Last evening wasn't a total success but I don't think it was a total failure either. I'm slowly getting back to healthier eating. I have found that I don't choose very wisely if left to my own devices. I think I'll have to go back to counting carbs, even if I set my daily carb level a little higher during the d-zone.
So, on to today!
1. Meds & vitamins will be taken when I get to work.
2. Only managed 4 mugs of water/tea yesterday. Is that enough? I'd like to get 5 mugs in today.
3. I think that I'll try for a 100 carb day to allow for the end of the d-zone. I should be back down to a lower level of carbs by this weekend.
4. Exercise......hmmmm.....I'm thinking about it. :p
I have to skedaddle & get ready for work. :sunny:

Friday......aaaahhhhhhh (can you all HEAR my sigh of relief??!)
This has been a rocky week for me. I'm glad that I gave myself a week's vacation from being strict. Mentally I needed it. This is a long term way of life and if I want to go the distance, I may need to stop every now and then to catch my breath.
The key is in knowing that it's a short rest break - not a total abandonment of the healthy living journey. I'm feeling more rested now so I think it's time to recommit, to get back in the game with my heart, soul, and mind.
OK, I'll admit that another part of the reason is that stupid scale we all seem to be struggling with! :p Mine says 133 and that's NOT acceptable. I KNOW it's the Bloat Fairy - I still feel like a beached whale  - and I also know that it will go away, but I HATE seeing that number so I'll try to hurry the process a bit. ::yes::
Today:
1. Meds & vitamins are on the desk - waiting until after I eat breakfast.
2. Water - 64 oz today and NO excuses! I had 8 oz before I left the house this morning, so I'm ahead of the game.
3. Food. This goal is tough. I've really slacked off and am not sure if I can or want to go directly to 60 carbs. I was thinking of trying Erin's PB surprise oatmeal this morning to see if it holds me over until lunch - that's a lot of carbs but the oatmeal & PB may be enough to make it lower glycemic enough..... I'll have to think about this goal but I will be watching what I eat today. No bingeing on chocolate and NO VISITS to the EVM!! Maybe that's enough of a goal to get me back on the healthy living road?
4. Exercise. Yup, it's time. I NEED to do this for my body, and I know it. I will walk for 15 minutes over lunch hour today - not going to set any speed records, but I will get out of my chair and MOVE a bit.
Here we go - back into the game. I'm setting my goals low so I can meet them and build my confidence. I'll be setting them higher in the days to come, but this is good enough for the day. If I meet them, I think I may find that cute little bear clippie and put him back in my siggie.
By the way, I LOVE my new tag! Thank you Tag Fairy! The tag will help me get back in the game. For those that don't read the main WISH board and so I don't forget the story.... I posted this joke on the WISH board and the Tag Fairy blessed me with a tag to remind me of it.
How come when you mix water and flour together you get glue..
and then you add eggs and sugar...and you get cake?
Where did the glue go?
NEED AN ANSWER?
You know darned well where it went!
That's what makes the cake... stick to your HIPS, THIGHS, BUNS!
Onward into the day! :sunny:

Well, Marcia, I tried the pb oatmeal surprise, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think I'll keep my pb and my oatmeal separate from now on - they don't play nice together. :p
I entered the ingredients into Fitday and it really threw my carb/fat/protein ratio out of balance, so I had to look for ways to recover. I ended up eating a couple bites of pb oatmeal surpise, the rest of the banana (I only put a few banana bites into the oatmeal, just in case), and 1/2 C honey-roasted sunflower seeds. It's all in Fitday and I'll continue to use Fitday today to monitor my ratios. It will really help me be mindful of what I'm eating so I get back on track.
Erin, I love when we set up our WISH-sis pacts! The funny thing is that I can promise myself, but then I'll make an excuse and not walk. Somehow promising YOU that I'll walk makes me want to keep that promise no matter what! Go figure!
Goal update:
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water - 20 oz down so far.
3. Food - a couple bites pb surprise oatmeal, banana, 1/2 C honey roasted sunflower seeds. Total so far - 38 carbs, F56%, C32%, P11%
4. I'll be strolling at lunch and thinking of my WISH-sis :happy1:
Marcia, I put my lunch (sub, but I'll be pitching the sub roll!) in the fridge and KICKED.....yes, physically KICKED the EVM - not hard, more of a symbolic kick, just to let it know who's boss! I like your litter box idea too - will keep a mental picture of that in my mind! YUCK!
I'm doin' it! I'm livin' the healthy life! I feel like I'm finding my groove again and it feels good! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Yep, I'm walking the walk on the treadie today, but only for you, Doreen. I'd back out, too, if I had my way!:p

Take that walk, soak up the :sunny: , breath deeply of the fresh air. Can you taste the springtime in the air? We had a day where it was about 40 a week or so ago and I swore I could SMELL spring!:teeth: I can't wait! My lawn is still covered with that yucky white stuff - I want to see green!

Goal update:
1. All pills dutifully swallowed.
2. 32 oz down & working on the next 12!
3. I'm eating the ham, cheese & tiny bits of lettuce from the inside of a sub. My totals so far today - 41 net carbs, F62%, C18%, P19%. The %s are moving in the right directions so I'm a happy girl.
4. I walked 20 minutes during lunch hour. If it were not for my WISH-sis pact with Erin, I definitely would have blown this off and sat on my butt! Thank you, Erin! I feel better since I did it, even if I went at a nice slow pace.
I am on track for my goals today! :sunny:

Wrap up for the evening:
1. check
2. check
3. Dinner was a lebanon bologna & cheese rollup, 4 potato chips, 2 Dove dark chocolate promises. Ended up with 56 carbs for the day, F62% C18% P20% - not perfect but considering what I've been eating for the past weeks, this is FANTASTIC!
4. check
Dinner was not the healthiest but I stayed under 60 carbs for the day. I consider that a rousing success.

First, I must confess. :( I fell apart around 9:30 last night. I was watching Michael Eisner trying to defend himself on Larry King Live so I figure I can claim temporary insanity, right? I was disgusted and talking back at the TV. I only had 1 glass of wine, a serving of potato chips and 2 pieces of chocolate, so it wasn't terrible, but it was over 60 carbs. But since everyone has celebrated my good day, I'm even more determined to live healthy and cheat free today!
This morning DH & I strolled to the local diner for breakfast - 2 scrambled eggs & bacon - YUM! We made a run to the library - found lots of good books to read. I took a 2.5 hour nap. A friend stopped by for a chat. I made a double batch of tuna salad with lots of chopped up celery, onion & green pepper - so good! We just finished eating lunch - but it's 4 PM!
Goals:
1. Meds & vitamins just taken with my late lunch.
2. Water - yup, need more....
3. Food - B = 3 carbs, L = 20 carbs. I have plenty of carbs left for dinner and I've eaten very healthy so far today. I plan to continue this for dinner and make some sf jello for a legal treat. I will be cheat free today!
4. Exercise - DH & I have been THINKING about going out for a walk....does that count??
The d-zone is officially OVER!!! That's reason enough to celebrate in my book....LOL!!! Now I get 2 weeks of sunny days and easy healthy living ways! It's so much easier to stay on track during these 2 weeks so I'm going to thoroughly enjoy it!

Dinner last evening was at a local restaurant with a salad bar. I had a quarter pound cheeseburger (no bun), a lovely salad and the tiniest bit of chocolate frozen yogurt with peanuts and a bit of whipped cream. I definitely was under 60 carbs for the day!!! YAY!!! I'll have to find that little bear clippie!!
I'm back in the game! It feels good! Never did exercise since we had company show up unexpectedly (hence the dinner out). That's OK - the food may be enough for me to concentrate on for the next day or two. I may start wearing my pedometer again, just to see how many steps I'm doing in a day. That usually encourages me to get up and move more.
Today:
1. Meds & vitamins
2. Water - 64 oz
3. Food - 60 carbs or less
4. Exercise will consist of housecleaning and laundry. :D
Time for me to get ready for Sunday School & church. Updates later! :sunny:

1. Meds taken, vitamins are waiting for lunch.
2. Water - 16 oz so far
3. Food - B=tuna salad on wheat thins (15 carbs). S=walnuts (2g). Now I have to figure out lunch and dinner. I'm sure there's a grocery store trip involved.
4. Just got home from church, so I need to change into work clothes and start laundry & cleaning, not to mention that grocery shopping. Sounds like a busy day for me. I'm sure DH will be watching the NASCAR race so I can't put on any good tunes - hmmm, may have to borrow DS' portable CD player.... :p
Edit: 12:30 PM
1. Gotta go take that vitamin....
2. Water - 24 oz so far
3. L = bologna & cheese rollup (2 carbs), tuna salad on wheat thins (20 carbs), banana - not gonna count the carbs in that. Total so far today = 39 carbs.
I've been missing fruit terribly and if I eat one piece a day with a meal that contains protein & fat, I'm not going to count the carbs. We'll see how the experiment goes.

Hi, Doreen! :p Did you get my IM? I responded back to you, but figured you must've gotten called away by something. I hope it was something fun and not the washer!:p
I know what you mean about fruit. Today after church, DD and I ran to get some produce and I bought a delicious fresh pineapple. Mmmmm, tasting it was like being transported to the Disney Wonder and off to the Bahamas. It was so good. Nature's dessert.
Make sure you get some "you time" in today so that you're feeling rested and recharged for tomorrow. I'm reading a book called "Dare to Lose." Have you read it? If I finish it by Saturday, I'll bring it for you to take home and read if you're interested. Also another good book I read (if you like Christian reading) is "Traveling Light" by Max Lucado. That I got from the library, though.
In case you haven't guessed, lying down with the puppy and good book is definitely in the game plan this afternoon. I'm going to walk later. How about you? Will you feel like it today? Maybe a walk around the grocery store will be enough? I have my pedometer on today; put it on last night when I went to the mall. It does have a tendency to inspire more walking, doesn't it?
Hopefully I'll touch base with you again before the day is done.
Enjoy--

I am one happy camper!!
1. Took my Centrum vitamin AND a flaxseed oil capsule AND some CO-Q10! Don't remember what those extra supplements are supposed to do for me but I'll re-research it so I can remember. I just know I've been wanting to incorporate them for a while now.
2. Water - got 64 oz in!
3. 39 carbs from earlier. D = taco salad (yummy!) and dessert was sf jello w/ whipped cream. I'm not sure how many carbs were in my taco salad (greens, ground beef w/ taco seasoning, mexican 4 cheese blend) but I know it must have been under 15 carbs.
I skipped the housework and took a nap during the NASCAR race this afternoon. I'll ask the kids to do some chores after school this week and things should come around nicely without me doing it all.
Yes, another cheat free day!! Now that I'm out of the d-zone AND I made a grocery trip, it should be simple to stay on track. I'm feeling sunny and great! I'm off to update my bear clippie and head to bed early.
It's gonna be a great week!! ::yes::

:sunny: It's a sunny day! :sunny:
The D-Zone is past, I brought all my food for work, I have lots of healthy food to make at home - life is good! I got plenty of rest over the weekend and my mood is upbeat.
Goals:
1. Meds & vitamins on the desk
2. 60 oz of water at work - 5 mugs.
3. Food at 60 carbs or less for the day. B = low-carb cheesecake (14g). L = tuna salad on fiber rye crackers (15g) plus a grapefruit (my one fruit indulgence for the day). D = roasted chicken, green beans, sf jello w/ whipped cream (5 carbs?). Snack = Atkins bar (2g). Total for today = 36 carbs. I have plenty of room to add extra low-carb snacks if needed.
4. Exercise - I'll strap on the pedometer & see how it goes. I will commit to a leisurely stroll during lunch hour lasting at least 10 minutes.
Here we go, into the day! I hear Katrina & the Waves singing "I'm walkin' on sunshine, yeah, I'm walkin' on sunshine and don't it feel GOOD!".

Today will be a tough one. I did not get up to exercise early - in fact I got up late and didn't have time to pack any food for the office! I WILL stay on plan though. I also have a very difficult meeting I need to hold at 10:30 so if any of you could send good thoughts my way and prayers to Heaven on my behalf, I'd appreciate it.

3. Food at 60 carbs or less. B = Atkins Advantage bar (2g). L = something from the cafeteria - probably a salad with lots of ham & cheese on top. D = chicken of some kind - I have a pack of chicken breasts in the fridge that need to be cooked, or possibly taco salad made with leftovers from Sunday night.

Good morning, dear Doreen, good morning to you!:sunny: Consider yourself prayed for, WISH-sis. ::yes:: I'll do my best to send another your way at that 10:30 time as well. You're a wise and strong woman--you'll find the best way to resolve the situation and problems at hand.
Your plan for today sounds good, too. I have a tip, though. Forgive me if you know all this, but it's something that caught my eye. I was reading in my new book about hormonal levels and how their fluctuations can make us eat, and one of the hormones they focused on was cortisol, the stress hormone. As you may know, our bodies are designed to focus and fight stress by releasing the cortisol. After a cortisol release and the passing of the event, however--like in your meeting?--we may experience strong cravings to eat (our bodies way of repairing us, in a way, after the stressful event). So what I'm trying to say is: take care of yourself AFTER that meeting. You may find yourself particularly vulnerable to the EVM, even if all goes super well. Be good to yourself throughout the day. Oh, and slather on that lavender stuff!:p
 ,
Erin

THANK YOU ALL!!!
The meeting turned out much better than I anticipated so all those prayers, good vibes and pixie dust worked wonders!! All the right people were there and came up with a better option than we proposed - yahoo!! Everyone left happy - a real win-win situation for all! Just knowing that my WISH buddies were thinking of me and praying for me helped me walk in there with confidence and a sense of peace that all would work out for the best. :grouphug:
Now I can breathe easy and it's almost lunchtime. I AM getting rather hungry but I will be going to the cafeteria for healthy food! There is NO EVM in my future!! Maybe I'll splurge and walk to Subway for a low-carb wrap!! Amanda keeps saying I should do something for me! That way I'll get healthy food AND some exercise....LOL!! :p
I'm feeling extra sunny :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: , can ya tell??!!
Thanks again to all my WISH friends!!!
EDIT: 1 PM
I walked to Subway for my wrap - so yummy! I also stopped by Hallmark and found one of those Russell Stover low-carb pecan delights - delish! Total for lunch = 16g carbs. Total for today = 18g carbs!! I'm hoping the malitol in the candy doesn't affect me badly. ::yes:: I'm willing to take the risk.
1. Meds & vitamin taken.
2. Water - 3 mugs down - 2 to go!
3. Food - 18g carbs so far today
4. Walked for 15 minutes at lunch :p
I have lots of work to get through this afternoon, but I'm feeling so relieved and happy after my morning meeting that I'm ready to take it on! :sunny:
EDIT: 4 PM
Well, it's quittin' time here at work. I had NO EVM temptations today - didn't even THINK about that silly machine! I'm still stuffed from lunch! I only got 4 mugs of water down (48 oz). I can't seem to get that 5th one in. Oh well, I'll be drinking more water at home tonight.
EDIT: 7:45 PM
D = taco meat, cheese, tortilla (20g), sf jello w/ whipped cream, 4 Dove dark chocolates (14g) Total carbs today = 52g - another cheat free day! Amazing!

Laurie: My monthly hormonal cycle seems to be quite predictable. You're right, the monster is chained in the basement for another 2 weeks or so! :D By the way, how did you know I have a large Parkay tub for all my change?? You're right, I'm saving it for our next WDW trip!! :p
Beth: I'll have to try the mints. The RS low-carb pecan delights were good but I only ate 2 and had some nasty, gassy after-effects - nothing terrible but from now on I'll have to eat only 1 at a time.
R_Judy: Glad we both made it through yesterday!!
Holly: Yep, I'm feeling pretty good about getting a cheat free streak going!! I see you're doing well in that dept. too!
It's Wednesday - halfway through the workweek! I was very tired this morning - thought of staying in bed but I made it to work. I have another big meeting to run tomorrow but it should be a cake-walk compared to yesterday's meeting! Today I'll be getting all the materials ready and tying up some loose ends. It should be a pretty good day at work.
Goals:
1. Meds taken. Vitamins will have to wait until I refill my water mug.
2. I can't remember the last time I drank 5 mugs of water at work. I always set a goal of 5 and I easily make 4.....I'll try again today. 1 mug already finished.
3. Food at or under 60g carbs. B was an Atkins bar (2g). Lunch & dinner are up in the air, but they'll be low-carb also.
The scale is down to 130 - I'm slowly losing all the water weight from last week. That's a good thing. Plus, I FEEL thinner.
Here we go, into the day!

Almost time to leave work - YAY! Not the most productive day I've ever had but they keep paying me....
Goals update:
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Am finishing that elusive 5th mug!
3. S = trail mix (15g), L = tuna salad wrap (20g), S = another protein bar (2g). Total so far today = 39g carbs. That leaves 21g for dinner & dessert tonight - shouldn't be a problem.
I was really craving junk food today but it seems to stem from work stress. Also DD stayed home from school today - she was really tired. Now, before I get flamed, she was REALLY tired, like "I can't keep my eyes open" tired. Not sure what's going on but I couldn't see sending her to school just so she'd fall asleep in class and get in trouble. She actually slept until after 11 AM. So the mom in me is a little worried about her and what's going on with her health.
Tonight DH and I are helping the local child care center with more computer stuff, so I won't have much time for myself. I hope to get to bed early, since I've been extra tired lately. I know that I'll be sluggish in the AM because of the stress of this meeting but I've got to push through it. There are days when working at KMart seems preferable to going to my job! I've never actually tried to get promoted - I've always been ASKED to step up to the next level. Maybe I would have been better off if I'd stayed at a lower level with less responsibilities. Too late now.

Doreen:
It's hard to leave a daughter at home, alone, from school even if she's an older daughter. I think you did the right thing letting her catch up on her rest. Hopefully she's warded off whatever bug might be coming at her and recharging her batteries for the rest of the week. Also by giving permission for her to stay home when she's run down you tell her that you trust her to make the best decisions regarding her health and her life. Given your family's work ethic and commitment to community needs, your daughter has a great grounding for taking on the rest of her life. One day away from school is OK.
It doesn't surprise me that you keep gaining more responsibility at work - look at what you accomplish everyday! People who seek higher positions rarely do so for the right reasons. (And in my experience, they're usually less suited to the responsibility.) If you were working at KMart, they would have promoted you to store manager by now...
More sunshine coming your way!

Thanks for the encouragement about DD. She is 14.5 yrs old (she wouldn't want me to forget that .5! :p ) so she's definitely able to stay at home by herself during the day. She's still tired but says she's ready to go back to school tomorrow. If she had had a fever or was throwing up, I would have stayed home with her, but I figured there was no point in staying home to watch her sleep. Besides, I always have my cell phone on - my family are the only ones with the number - I call it my Mom Phone. :D
All this talk of exercise on the boards has inspired me! I came home from work, put on my pink Princess hat and briskly walked the puppy outside for 15 minutes! The good news is that it's FUN to walk with my princess hat on - it reminds me of all my WISH friends! The bad news is that it's still COLD outside and the wind was NOT helping - could someone let Mother Nature know that we're ready for SPRING in the North East!!
I'm feeling better now, thanks to my walk and my WISH friends! ::yes:: :grouphug:

Thank you all for stopping by and encouraging me! This morning I'm feeling a bit stressed about my meeting and feeling all my WISH-friends around me really helps. :grouphug:
Finished yesterday with a dinner of 1/2 C ice cream (just wasn't that hungry). That added 20g carbs to bring my total to 59g. I need to change my bear clippie!
DD is back to school today. She still seems a bit tired but she assures me she's feeling more rested and ready to face the day. I think staying home yesterday was the right decision for her. :D
My meeting is from 9 to 11 AM. I'll feel better when it's over. It shouldn't be too bad. When I was younger, I seemed to thrive on being "in" on things, climbing the ladder, running meetings and taking responsibility for areas. Now that I'm older, I'd rather climb back down the ladder, but there aren't too many opportunities for that. :p Maybe I peaked too early?? :teeth:  I am actively trying to sort out my feelings in this area and make peace with where I am. If anyone sees any good books on the subject or has any good ideas or experiences, let me know. There's something in this area for me to learn, but I haven't found it yet. I'm trying to learn to enjoy the process of discovering why I'm not comfortable where I am.
I think there are times in life where we just have to accept being uncomfortable. It doesn't necessarily mean we're in the wrong place or doing the wrong thing. It just means there's something we're supposed to be learning but we're not learning easily - like being in school, in a class where you just don't "get it" yet.
OK, enough deep philosophy for this morning!
Goals:
1. Meds & vitamins taken....just now. :p
2. Water - try for the elusive 5 mugs! I'm working on a mug of water and a mug of decaf green tea at the moment.
3. Food at or under 60g. B was 2 string cheese (2g). Brought 2 burgers & a slice of cheese for lunch. Dinner? We'll see.
I've spent time this morning praying for God's guidance and peace to see me through the day and I am feeling more peaceful. I don't have to be in control of everything. He is watching over me and taking far better care of me than I ever could. His grace and mercy are all around me and I am blessed beyond measure in so many ways.
I'm starting today with a smile and a feeling that, in the end, all will turn out right.
Now I must get ready for my meeting so I'll save journal visits for later!

Good Morning Doe!:sunny:
I hope your meeting goes well this morning. And I hope DD is feeling better soon. I think kids have so much pressure on them now. My DD was sick a few weeks ago, I let her stay home for an extra day or two because she was so tired. You have to look at the whole picture too. How often does DD miss school? You'd be amazed at how often some kids are out! So a day or two of needed rest is not a big deal in my book.
Yes, I think we've all questioned whether the additional responsibilities of our jobs are worth the extra $$. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. You just have to roll with the punches and take one day at a time. Remember to leave the work baggage at work! It definitely helps to lighten the load in the long run!::yes::
Have a good day Doe! I'm happy to see you got a walk in yesterday. Hopefully that spring weather is just around the corner. I know they are telling us we are going to have a nice weekend this week!:teeth: :sunny: Get out there and enjoy it! :sunny:

I hope your meeting goes well and I know you are going to reach 5 mugs of water today!
Your post made me think of a Christian Song that we use to sing. Not sure if you are catholic or not but it was "Eagle's Wings" I can't remember all the words but it was, " And he will raise you up on Eagle's Wings, there you are the breath of dawn. Makes you to shine like the sun! And hold you in the palm of his hands."

You all are such a source of comfort and inspiration to me! :grouphug: Amanda, I've heard that song, although I'm not Catholic, and it is beautiful and very on-the-mark for me today - thank you for reminding me of it! For some reason I've been hearing an old gospel song lyric about "leaning on the Everlasting Arms" - that's the only bit I can remember but it seems to fit too.
Sharon, I agree about leaving the office at the office to a point. When the weather gets warm, DH and I usually walk the puppy for an hour in the evenings and spend some of that time on our work frustrations. Then by the time we get home, we both feel listened-to, refreshed, and ready to move on. We don't allow work to overshadow our entire homelife though.
My meeting has ended. It went very well - better than I expected in many ways - and I felt peaceful and comfortable throughout. I truly believe that prayers (both my prayers and your prayers on my behalf!) make a difference and I want to thank you all for your prayers, good vibes, pixie dust, etc.
I'm anxious to dig in and get some of my real work done so I won't linger here anymore at the moment, but I'll be back later to check on everyone! I haven't felt happy about doing my work for a while so I'm going to take advantage of this burst of enthusiasm. :p
Warm  to all!!
EDIT: 1 PM
2. I've had 3 mugs of water and 1 mug of decaf green tea.
3. I had trail mix (14g) from the EVM around 11. I'm not sure when I'll eat lunch - am not hungry yet. Total carbs today = 16g.
I'm halfway through writing the minutes from my meeting this morning. I'm feeling peaceful and centered. :sunny: This is such a nice feeling to have at work. I'm not avoiding my work - I'm actually enjoying it. I really hope this continues - it could dramatically improve my overall mood!
EDIT: 2:15 PM
I've sent out the minutes from this morning's meeting and I feel such a great sense of accomplishment! I have only been functioning at a marginal level at work for quite a while but today I feel like I'm doing my job well. :sunny:
EDIT: 3:15 PM
2. 4 mugs water and 1 mug decaf green tea - YAY!
3. Cheeseburger (2g), grapefruit (19g). My total so far is 18g without the grapefruit and 37g with the grapefruit. I do not count 1 piece of fruit a day as a cheat as long as I eat it with protein so my insulin doesn't spike. Who knows though - today my carbs may be low enough to count the grapefruit!! :p

How are ya doin today, Doe. How's the weather in beautiful southcentral Pa. ? (makes me homesick just typing the words!)
Wow. I just looked at one of your countdown timers and it says 107 until WDW. I'm sooooooooooooooo jealous. Ofcourse, the next time I'm at WDW I want to be thin, so I guess it's best if I stay away for a while. :)
YOU, on the other hand, are not only going to look great, but be walking so fast, that you'll get ahead of your family!:p
wooooohooooo!!! You'll be walking at the speed of lightning!!

I stopped with 4g carbs at breakfast. Lunch was a Subway wrap (11g). Snack was trail mix (15g) from the EVM. Snack (after I got home) was 2 Dove chocolates (7g) and sf jello & whipped cream (0g). That brings me to 37g so far today. Dinner will be the toppings of a few slices of Pizza Hut veggie pizza. I have 23g of carbs left so I'll do just fine and roll over that lovely bear clippie number! YAY!
I WANTED to binge on ice cream when I got home, but I didn't want to ruin my cheat free streak! Good for me for resisting!
I drank 4 mugs of water at work so I'll drink 1 more with dinner. I also took my meds & vitamins.
I didn't walk the puppy - DH & I ran errands instead. I did walk at lunch though. I'll be getting PLENTY of walking in tomorrow though. Erin & I will be power walking at least 4 miles. :p
Another day is coming to an end. I'm feeling really good about this past week. It wasn't an easy one but I came through it pretty well and with a cheat free bear! I'm going to roll my bear's number now - will probably not be back on until Sunday.

I walked about 11 miles today! :p I am no longer afraid of the half-marathon distance. Of course, I'll have to move a little faster during the race, but I know I can make the distance!
Erin and I walked about 6 miles around the mall today. The time flew by as we talked and laughed. We had a bite to eat and then parted ways. The time went all too quickly!
When the weather gets nicer and we can walk outside, we'll invite more WISH friends to join us. In the mall, you can only really walk in pairs but outside we can walk as a group. Those of you in the area - watch for upcoming walks!! It will be great to get to know each other a little better as we walk and chat in the sunshine and fresh air!
Food today: Breakfast was 1/2 a protein bar and some sunflower seeds - 4g carbs total. Lunch was a Subway wrap (12g). Snack was a few sips of a fruit smoothie (I'm guessing 20g). That leaves me with 24g for dinner and I'll stay within that. I'm starting to enjoy the higher numbers that my cheat free bear is holding up every day!!
Gotta go and won't be on anymore tonight. I'll try to get to everyone else's journal tomorrow. I'm going to change my clippie and call it a day! :sunny:

Say, I've been meaning to ask, approximately how many carbs are you taking in per day? Eventually I'm going to have to start adding, but I'm not ready yet, too scared. You're doing great Doreen!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Take care!:D

Lisa, I try to stay at or under 60g carbs per day. You could always start slowly by adding in 5 extra carbs every other day or something.
Judy, I've been gaining and losing the same few pounds for a month now. I'm not sure if my body will release any more weight with diet alone. I'm afraid I'll need to exercise on a regular basis to drop any more.
Today's goals:
1. Take meds & vitamin.
2. Water - 64 oz. I don't drink as much when I'm out and about like yesterday. Today I'll need to get back to my water.
3. Food - 60g carbs or less. I don't have a plan yet and that has me a bit worried.
I'm doing laundry now. I'll be heading out to Sunday School & church in a couple hours. After that, who knows? :p

It's Monday and I'm back in the office. The routine of the workday will help me get back in the game and stay on plan.
Goals - all the same:
1. Meds & vitamins must be taken.
2. 5 mugs of water and/or decaf green tea must be ingested.
3. 60g carbs or less must be eaten.
4. No exercise - I'm nursing a blister on my little pinkie toe. :( :p
There are times when straying from my plan almost seems like a relief, like I don't have to strive to be perfect. Then there are times when going back to the plan seems like coming home to a familiar and comfortable place. Today, I want to be on plan just because it's comfortable there and I know my habits are healthy ones that will nurture my body.

Amanda has inspired me!! I am setting goals for the month of March! Actually, I decided to track the percentage of days that I meet my daily goals - so I can get a sense of long-term accomplishment.
Goals for March:
1. Meds & vitamin every day, no exceptions, 100% of the time.
2. Water or decaf green tea - 60 oz (5 Disney mugs :p ) daily, no exceptions, 100% of the time.
3. Food - 60g carbs or less + 1 piece of fruit per day. I'm shooting for 80% of the month or 25 of 31 days. 100% is NOT realistic but 6 days of straying should be enough for one month! ::yes::
4. Exercise - Walk one mile or do Pilates 20 minute workout daily. Again, I'm shooting for 80% of the month or 25 of 31 days. 6 days off should allow for the occasional crazy day when I CAN'T exercise but should be enough to get me off my duff on those days when I'm just being lazy.
I'm really excited by this idea! I think it's enough of a challenge to keep me on the right path but not so rigid that I'll drive myself crazy. The meds & liquids really need to be a part of my life daily, without fail. I'm willing to allow some leeway for food and exercise but I want them to be a regular part of my life.
Goals for today:
1. Meds & vitamin taken - 1/1 100% (meaning I accomplished the goal 1 day of 1 day).
2. Water / decaf green tea - 4 mugs down, 1 to go.
3. B = protein bar (2g). I don't have a plan for lunch or dinner yet.
4. No exercise yet but I'm anxious to get some in now. It will probably be Pilates so I can rest my little pinky toe. :p
I'm hoping the monthly goal will inspire me to get my goals planned into my day and finish them early. I can finish goals 1, 2 and 4 early and have a concrete plan for goal 3 early in the day.
I'll have to figure out what to do about the bear clippie. I guess as long as I'm meeting my goals, I can roll the bear's number? If I take one of my 6 allowed days off from my food or exercise goals, then I can still count the day cheat-free but if I reach that 7th day off then I won't roll the bear's number that day. The bear will count the number of days I've met my goals for the month. I can live with that!
By the way, Beth, I do have moleskin. However I'm not sure quite how to put it on. The blister is on the fleshy part of my toe that hits the floor every time I take a step. I'd have to cut a small hole in the middle of the moleskin but I'm not sure it would stay on. I'll look at it again tonight - I know I should be cushioning it somehow - just not quite sure how to do it. Thanks for the reminder! ::yes::
Here I go, feeling more confident and ready to tackle my goals today! ::yes::

Hi Doreen!:wave2:
Amanda inspired me as well! I have set short term goals for the month of March. I think it is a great idea. Step-by-step, we will reach our bigger goals!
Your goals look very good. And I like how you have allowed yourself lee-way for the crazy days you are bound to have during the month. I also like that you have them set-up so that you can get some of them met right off the bat during your day. Great planning!
I hope your little pinky toe is feeling better. I broke mine last Nov, and I can't tell you what a *pain* (literally and figuratively) that was!! It also set me behind on my exercise, so I hope yours heals quickly!
Have a wonderful, warm :sunny: Monday Doe!!

Goal update
1. Meds & vitamins 1/1 100%
2. Water - 5 mugs water & 1 mug decaf green tea!! 1/1 100%
3. Food - B=protein bar (2g), L=6 oz burger (no bun) with lettuce, tomato, peppers, mayo, little mustard (8g?), S=trail mix (15g). Total so far today = 25g.
4. No exercise yet but I will this evening! :D
I feel very motivated with these new monthly goals!!
Sharon - your poor toe!! Hope it's all better now. A friend at work says they have special gel bandaids for blisters?? I'll be checking the store tonight! I actually MISS walking! :p
EDIT: 8:45 PM
Goals for today:
3. D = 1/2 PBJ on low-carb bread (20g), really small piece cake (15g). Total for today = 60g 1/1 100%
4. Exercise - 20 minute Pilates workout 1/1 100%

Stephanie: I never made it to the store for the new gel blister band-aids. I do have a regular band-aid on today and it seems to be helping. I know what you mean about preferring sneakers or going barefoot - I have yet to find a pair of really comfy dress shoes, although my Hush Puppie pumps come close.
Judy: I'm very happy to welcome my bear back into my siggie! So far this monthly goal thing is feeling very good!
Erin: I've got my ::MickeyMo umbrella to chase away any frowns! :p

hey doe, great job yesterday! it's always nice to start out a brand new month with a wonderful cheat free day :)
i've used specific blister bandaids that had a gel type area, i'm pretty sure that's what you're talking about. i had a nasty blister on my big toe, but in between the toes. the gel bandaid did very well for normal everyday activity, and it didn't hurt at all. it didn't hold up to running though. but i'm sure it would help with your walking and everyday activities ::yes::
good luck reaching your goals again today, i know you can do it! hope you have a great day :sunny: (even though it's icky out! :p )

Thanks, all, for stopping by and encouraging me! I am feeling very sunny and positive!
Goals so far today:
1. Meds & vitamins taken - 2/2 100%
2. Water - already had 5 mugs and am drinking more - 2/2 100%
3. Food - B = protein bar (2g). L = Subway wrap (15g), Trident (1g). Dinner? No idea! There are hot dogs at home if I get desparate. :p
4. Exercise - Walked a mile at lunch (to Subway & back). It's so warm out I didn't need my coat! I hope to get more walking in this evening, but my goal has been met! 2/2 100%

i noticed the alphabetical thing...it made me smile :). seeing names rise to the top a-z, hehe :p
and yeah, i've kept on plugging along even with the blisters. [notice, the following will be gross...so don't read if you don't want to be grossed out] i just pop em, squeeze out the liquid, cover em up with neosporin and a bandaid over night, and they're usually doing okay by the morning. i put on a new bandaid with neosporin in the morning, and by the time i get to the gym, i take the bandaids off and i'm off and running. i really notice them much more during the day, and usually not at all while running. they're all doing very well now though, i haven't had to pop and squeeze in at least a week, they're more like callouses (sp?). i just have to keep an eye on them because they'll blister again if i don't keep them under control. i guess it would be more of a problem if they were in another spot, but they're all on the tips of my toes, so i guess i just don't feel them
:scratchin
anyway, i hope your little toe gets better real soon and you can get some more walking in :)

I was doing fine until I logged off the computer last night. Then I had some stuff that I shouldn't have. I'm not fretting about it though, because that's why I allowed some leeway in my monthly objectives.
So far as of yesterday:
1. Meds & vitamins 2/2 100%
2. Water 2/2 100%
3. Food 1/2 50%
4. Exercise 2/2 100%
I'm still allowed to keep my cheat-free bear from yesterday because I used one of my 6 allowed days.
On to today!
I'm hoping to master all 4 of my goals today. I've got number 1 out of the way, but am still working on the rest. I didn't sleep well last night - woke up at 2:30 and couldn't get back to sleep - so I'm feeling tired. However I'm not going to let that stop me from succeeding today!

2. Water - all 5 mugs! 3/3 100%
3. Food so far - B=protein bar (2g), L=trail mix (15g). I'll have 2 string cheese (2g) before I leave work - don't want to be starving when I get home. Dinner will be a Wendy's salad (19g I think?) and a hot dog if I'm still hungry. No more late eating!!
4. Exercise - haven't done it yet but will try to walk the pup when I get home. Otherwise I'll be doing 20 minutes of Pilates later this evening. My toe is feeling better so I'm hoping to start walking again!

Food today:
B will be a protein bar (3g).
L will be cheeseburger (2g) and an apple
S will be trail mix (15g)
D will be chicken salad (9g I think?)
S will be sf jello w/ whipped cream
It feels good to KNOW what I'm going to eat.
Into the day! :sunny:

The last 2 weeks of my cycle are typically full of food cravings, depression & moodiness, overly emotional, physically tired, etc. This all makes it REALLY hard to stick with my healthy living since I basically want to crawl under a rock to avoid the world, harbor my bad attitude and wallow in junk food :p !

Wrap-up from yesterday:
1. Meds & vitamins - yes! 4/4 100%
2. Water - yes! 4/4 100%
3. Food - switched the chick salad to a Subway wrap - yes! 3/4 75%
4. Exercise - was just plain lazy. I had several chances to do it and just blew it off  Glad I put in some cheat days! 3/4 75%
I get to roll my bear for yesterday - YAY!
I was disappointed in myself for skipping the exercise yesterday, and that motivated me to get out of bed and do my Pilated early this morning - so my exercise for the day is finished!!
Now I'm off to wake up the kids and get us all ready to head out the door for work & school by 6:50.
It's gonna be another sunny day! :sunny:
EDIT: 8 AM
I'm at work, sipping some warm and wonderful decaf mandarin orange green tea - the smell of orange is heavenly - makes me feel all sunny and warm inside! :D
The plan:
1. Meds & vitamins out to be taken with breakfast.
2. Water and/or decaf green tea - 5 mugs.
3. Food B = 2 string cheese (2g), L = cheeseburger (2g), S = trail mix (15g), D = ? (guess I'd better figure this out before I get home tonight :p )
4. Exercise - 20 minute Winsor Pilates this morning! I'm so happy that I have this finished already! Love how it works my lower abs!
My father's birthday party is tomorrow evening at Red Lobster. I want to check their website today to see what I can order that's low carb, so I can plan the rest of my meals for tomorrow.
The rest of the weekend is looking blissfully clear of plans, but rainy - a great weekend to stay inside & read! If DH doesn't bring work home, maybe I can talk the family into doing a jigsaw puzzle at the dining room table - great for chatting with my teenagers!!
Now I'm off to check on all of my WISH friends and to do some work (do I have those two things in the right order?? ).

Good Morning Doreen! Sounds like you're off to a wonderful start! When I was doing SB, I went to Red Lobster and had Mahi, with veggies. It was decent and LC, but the whole thing was swimming in butter! Just be careful to stay away from those biscuits they bring! Very tempting. Have fun! Thanks for all the encouragement yesterday. I wish I could carry you around on my shoulder!:teeth: Then maybe somebody could have talked me out of dinner last night. Oh well, I was only over my range by 300. I guess I did that in exercise, so not all was lost!

Ooooooooo, Doe, Red Lobster's one of my favorites. I always order grilled salmon (sometimes I order it blackened) and I order double veggie instead of potato. It also comes with another side, I usually get salad. Yummy, yummy!
Have fun! And we are a BIG puzzle family. My DH does the 1,000 piece puzzles and the kids always help him. ONe year for Christmas, I bought him on of those things that you lay your puzzle on while you are working on it and if you are not finished, you simply roll it up. It's a great big piece of felt with a cylinder that the felt rolls up around. I think it is called Roll-o-puzz, or something like that. He loves it. And that way I don't have a puzzle sitting out on the dining room table all week, just at nights.
Have a great day!

Girl, you are living right! Look at your stats for March! Just keep taking it day by day and you're sure to get the results you want.
Along with the Da Vinci Code (which I'm finding VERY hard to put down), I picked up a book at the library called "Thin Tastes Better" by Stephen Gullo. It's quite interesting so far--talking all about the cultural, psychological, and biological influences that surround our eating behaviors and how we have to have "food control eating plans" if we're going to maintain weight loss. If it sounds interesting to you, check your library and add it to your rainy weekend activity list! After the puzzle, of course. :D

I'm on a roll today!!
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. 4 mugs water & 1 mug decaf green tea finished.
3. B = cheese (2g), Splenda for tea (1g), L = trail mix (15g) - just haven't been hungry for my cheeseburger. D will be ?? (it's still a mystery to me!) but I have 47g carbs left.
4. Winsor Pilates finished.
I've met all my goals except for my food tonight and I'm quite sure I'll be meeting that goal too! I haven't eaten much today but I FEEL full (must be all this water!) so I'm not going to worry about it.
Thanks for the info concerning puzzles! I'll have to try to find a roll-o-puzz or something similar!
Also, thanks for all the great ideas about Red Lobster! After looking at their online menu, I may have to declare tomorrow night's dinner as one of my cheats for the month - so many yummy things. I'm leaning toward the Aztec Chicken and splitting a dessert with DH. If I decide to have a biscuit, I'll split it with DH - their biscuits are so evil that I may just skip it altogether. We'll see how I feel when I get there. I don't want to have too many carbs even if it's a cheat - I don't want to have to kick the carb cravings all over again.
Also, Erin, thanks for the book info - I'll be checking into that one!
Beth, I've got the latest Reader's Digest, Suze Orman's "9 Steps to Financial Freedom", an R.L. Stine book my kids are reading, and a so-so book titled "Hitler's Pope" going at the moment, but I'm due for another visit to the library tomorrow morning - never know what I might find! :p Can you tell I like to read?? :teeth:
All goals met except for watching my 47g carbs for the evening - I'm feeling pretty good about this!! :sunny:

OMG Red Lobster has been one of my FAVORITE low carb stops! I usually get the 'Ultimate Feast'. It has crab legs w/drawn butter, shrimp scampi and I ask to have the fried shrimp substituted with grilled shrimp. I get the salad w/baby shrimp and have the veggies instead of the potatoe. Skip the biscuits.
YUMMY!

I left work with 47g carbs to play with tonight. I was really hungry when I got home and a PBJ sounded SOOOO good! I made one with low-carb bread - 30g for the whole sandwich. Then I had 2 Dove promises (7g). That means I only have 10g left. I'm just posting here to reinforce to myself that I must be careful tonight. I have plenty of legal treats like sf jello & whipped cream, string cheese, etc. so there's NO REASON for me to go over the 10g I have left.
I WILL have a 60g day! :sunny:
There! Now that I've put it in writing, I feel like I can do this!

I was feeling a little weak last night, and I KNEW that if I wrote it down in my journal, I'd stick to my goal better - IT WORKED!!
I still need to roll my bear - will do that as soon as I finish this entry.
It's well after 9 AM. I slept until 8:30! Guess I was tired. :p Then I got up and did my Pilates. I also wrote all the exercises down so that I can do the workout even if both TVs are in use - I've been wanting to do this for a while so I'm happy that I finally did it. :D
I was not going to allow myself to DIS until I got my Pilates in - that worked well, since I'm addicted to the DIS & these journals! :p
I haven't done anything else yet, but today will be on track - a visit to the library this morning for more books, out to dinner this evening, a little cleaning & laundry in between, maybe some errands. It sounds like a lot, but we'll be moving at a relaxed pace today so it will be fun.

Final recap of Saturday:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 6/6 100%
2. Water - I'm finishing my last mug now 6/6 100%
3. Food - I was pretty good at dinner but did have dessert. Can't count it as under 60g but I have days built in for this. 4/6 67%
4. Exercise - 20 minute Pilates 5/6 83%
It was a good day! The party for my father went very well and all had a great time. I ate more carbs than usual, but I saved them for the really good stuff - I didn't waste them on everything and anything. I'm pleased with myself!
Tomorrow I plan to sleep in, go to church, do some grocery shopping and help the kids with some school projects. We never did get a puzzle, but that's OK - plenty to keep us busy. :p

:sunny: Good afternoon!! :sunny:
I did my 20 minute Pilates workout first thing this morning. I've done it so much that I wanted to try it without the DVD. It only took me 15 minutes and I really was going slow and focusing on each exercise. I feel like I got a better workout in less time and I didn't have to listen to Mari Winsor say the same stuff I've heard countless times before! It wasn't a chore, but an enjoyable way to start my day. This could become a habit! ::yes::
Then I was sleepy so I went back to bed! :p I slept until 11! Then I got up, showered & dressed, made hard boiled eggs (for DH) and tuna salad to have on hand this week, helped the kids with school projects, etc.
I ate more than usual for dinner last night. I'm just now starting to get hungry and it's 1:30 PM! Does this happen to anyone else or just me? I figure why eat breakfast if my body is still processing food from last night? I have started drinking my water though!
The plan:
1. Meds & vitamins with lunch - soon.
2. Water - 1 mug down, 4 to go.
3. Food - Lunch will be tuna salad on fiber rye crackers. Dinner - maybe the chicken quesadilla recipe I've been meaning to try. Dessert if I need it - always sf jello w/ whipped cream in the house! :D
4. Exercise - 20 minute Pilates workout in 15 minutes! :teeth: I'd like to get to the point where this is a daily habit and then add a mile of walking every day. I will do some occasional walking but I won't make walking a goal until April.
This afternoon I hope to take the kids to the movies but they each have some homework projects to finish before we can go. All in all, it's going to be a laid-back kind of day!
EDIT: 3:30 PM
1. Meds & vitamins taken
2. Water - working on my 3rd mug
3. Food - Lunch was as planned (18g) + walnuts (2g).
4. Exercise done.
I need to keep working on my water and make sure I eat a healthy dinner and this day should be another good one for my goals!

How quickly things fall apart! Yesterday's wrap-up:
1. Meds & vitamins 7/7 100%
2. Water 7/7 100% I was guzzling the last of the water at 10 PM right before bed - it's TOUGH to get my water in on the weekends!
3. Food 4/7 57% Uh-oh! The leftover cake from Saturday was on the counter and calling me all day! I finally gave in & had a small piece and THEN checked the carbs - 70g in one piece!!!! I've now used 3 of my 6 allowed cheat days during the first week of the month - I'm a little worried about this.
4. Exercise 20 minute Pilates 6/7 86%
Nothing to do but move forward. The rest of the family finished that evil cake last night so it won't be tempting me anymore.
Same goals today:
1. Meds & vitamins on my desk.
2. Water - 1 mug down, 4 to go
3. Food - Breakfast was a protein shake (2g) + my fruit (5 strawberries & half a very small banana). Snack will be an Atkins bar (2g). Lunch will be tuna salad on fiber rye crackers (18g). Dinner will be chicken of some kind, green beans & sf jello / whipped cream for dessert. I will not deviate! I need to stick with this plan to make sure I have a cheat free day.
4. Exercise - Pilates when I got up. It's so peaceful to do these exercises in a focused manner in a quiet house first thing in the morning WITHOUT the noise of the DVD. There's a lot of stretching and a lot of ab work in the exercises and the movements are mostly slow. I'm really enjoying this!
We never made it to the movies yesterday - the kids stayed busy with homework - but next weekend we'll try again.
I'm still feeling pretty positive, although I'm worried about meeting my food goal this month. But if I never try, I'll never have the chance to feel the joy of succeeding! I'd like to figure out a reward if I meet all my goals this month to give myself some incentive. I'll think about this.
Onward and into the day! :sunny:

By the way, Erin, it was yellow cake with white coconut frosting from the most wonderful local bakery - they should label it as dangerous to your waistline! :hyper: The best part of my Dad's party was that he didn't realize it had coconut frosting and he really BLEW out those candles - the coconut flakes flew EVERYWHERE!!! :teeth: We all had quite a good laugh!
Haven't come up with my reward yet but I'm going to make it a good one, since I only have 3 more food cheat days left for the rest of the month!

Hi Doreen! Good job at staying away from the EVM. You seem really focused today. Ride that wave as long as you can!:D
Ooh, that coconut cake sounds so good. I hope you were able to get a picture of your dad blowing out the candles.
So it's time for a reward, huh? How about a new outfit, a new book or maybe a pedicure/manicure? Whatever you decide, you deserve it for all the hard work you've been putting in.
Take care Doreen!:D

I'm finished eating for the night and I will NOT have another bite of food - may drink some more water though! :p
Final recap of the day:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 8/8 100%
2. Water - all 5 mugs & then some 8/8 100%
3. Food - Dinner was a whole wheat tortilla w/ taco meat & cheese (18g) and sf jello w/ whipped cream. Total carbs today = 40g carbs - way under my 60g limit! YAY! 5/8 62.5%
4. Exercise - 7/8 87.5%
I made it through another day. That's how I have to do this - just one day at a time. I did 4 separate things (my goals) that were good for me! I'm worth it! :sunny:

Good Morning Doreen! Sounds like things are going well for you! Your weekend was not a total loss, and even with the cake, hey, as long as it didn't throw you too far from the wagon, you will be fine! I was reading about your monthly reward. I think I need to get a new perspective on this. I usually have a monthly failure, (right around my "monthly" :p ) and I think I should start considering it a reward. That way, won't feel so bad when I get crazy and go off plan. I should just count on it as part of my plan. Funny how many things we learn about ourselves through this process of healthy living. Hey, learning is healthy! ::yes::
Have a great day !

I hope you have another FANTASTIC day! :Pinkbounc Wow! Look at all you're accomplishing for yourself this month! Your stats are great! :p
Hmmm, about your reward. . .maybe we can get some ideas at the mall. We'll have to check out our favorite stores again. :p

I finally made it to my journal! I've been a busy girl so far today. I was getting ready for work when DS informed me that he needed a strep throat culture. His throat was really hurting, especially when he swallowed. He had a dry hacking cough, muscle aches, swollen glands - all the usual symptoms. So I dropped DD at school & took him to the doc. The quickie culture says no strep but I'm betting I'll get a call tomorrow or Thursday that he's got it. :p
DS didn't feel too bad & he was starving so I took him out for breakfast and stopped by the store for hard candy & frozen treats. I even picked up a pint of the new Ben & Jerry's Carb Karma Vanilla Swiss Almond ice cream for me! I could eat the whole pint & it would count as 8 carbs! Of course the sugar alcohols would make me sick....LOL.....so I guess I'll savor it in smaller doses. :p
So we're back home and settling in for a relaxing day. I'll pick DD up after school and will ride along when DH drives her and her friend to baton and dance classes tonight. I have some chicken in the fridge so I'm going to try to make Amanda's chicken quesadilla recipe - hey, I've got all day, right?
Goals for the day:
1. Meds & vitamins already taken.
2. Water - 1 mug down, 4 mugs to go.
3. Food - Breakfast was 2 scrambled eggs & ham (3g). I'm stuffed so I might only have a snack this afternoon - plenty of legal snacks around. Dinner will be chicken quesadillas - minimal carbs. I have legal treats if my sweet tooth calls me. It should easily be a cheat free day!
4. Exercise - Did my Pilates this morning first thing. I may get the longer workout DVD out and pick one or two exercises to add into my morning routine.
I have to focus on my water and mind my food for the rest of the day. I'm feeling very sunny! :sunny:
Erin, I like your idea of checking out the mall for my monthly reward. :p I think I just might be able to make my goals for the month! ::yes::

Hi Doe!! You are sounding so bright and :sunny: today!!! Good for you!
Sorry DS is feeling poorly.:( But nice that you and he had a little one on one time this morning. I really miss that from when my guy was in preschool - he's 1st grade now. His sister was in school all day and we got a few hours to ourselves. It was a very nice time for us.
Have a nice quiet day and GET THAT WATER IN!!!

Hey Doe,
Things are lookin pretty good over here. I like to visit :sunny: places. :teeth:
I started monthly goals, also. I thought you came up with a good idea so I have incorporated it into my journal. I think it's going to help (especially with the exercise and water)
Keep up the great work!:sunny:

I almost got carried away with the low carb treats today, but I stopped myself. I had half of the Ben & Jerry's ice cream (4g) and then a CarbSmart ice cream bar (5g) - I HAD to compare them!! :teeth: I'm feeling a bit gaseous, so I know I overdid it but I'll be fine in a few hours.
I also had 2 Dove chocolates (7g). Combine all that with breakfast and I'm up to 19g for the day. I have chicken in the oven and will only need 30g max for dinner IF I use a tortilla for my chicken quesadillas. I may just have the chicken, salsa & cheese, though. Either way, it will be a cheat free day for me! YAY!! :Pinkbounc
I'm working on my last mug of water - no problem there either! :sunny:
I think I'll roll my bear's number and assume all will be well tonight. I'm thinking positive here!::yes::
DS is still taking ibuprofen for his sore throat & I'll have to pick up some cough meds so he can sleep tonight. Unless he spikes a fever or feels a whole lot worse he's going to school tomorrow.
I'll be back at work and into the weekday routine tomorrow! :sunny:

Doreen~It sounds like you are having a great week! You are definitely an inspiration to all of us w/ your attitude and making sure you just take it one day at a time. I love the mall idea as an award! If you love shopping half as much as I do, it will be definite motivation and I KNOW you'll make your goals this month. ::yes:: No harm in comparing the two treats, either! :) I hope DS starts feeling better soon! Take care of you; you don't need to be ill too! Have a great night! :sunny:

To compare Ice Creams if you give a detailed critique. After all, we all don't have 60 carbs to spend each day, and it's really important for me to know if it should be Ben & Jerry's or CarbSmart.
You're doing really great. I hope that your son is feeling better real soon. The sore throat, lose your voice thing has been going around our office. It seems to last about a week - only a couple of days of bed rest needed and a whole lot of at work suffering. Hope it's not strep - so far it isn't here.
Thanks again for all you caring support. I'm not real good at noticing the PM's down at the bottom of the screen - people must think I'm crazy answering messages weeks later.
Keep that D-zone monster on a short leash, OK?

Thanks to all for stopping by! :grouphug: I'll try to get around to journals later today.
Last night went as planned. I had a chicken breast with some shredded Mexican 4 cheese blend melted on top with some salsa - no tortilla (didn't need it). This was as close as I could get to Amanda's chicken quesadillas and it was wonderful!! I'll be making this a regular menu item. Of course the rest of my family wouldn't eat it but the plain chicken was there for them. :p I had sf jello & whipped cream for dessert. I met all my goals for yesterday!
DS is feeling worse so I'm off work again today. The lab still says his strep culture is negative - we'll be heading to the doc's office this morning to see if they've got any suggestions  and to get a note for his absence from school.
Goals for today:
1. Meds & vitamins taken.
2. Water - 2 mugs down, 3 to go.
3. Food - Breakfast was a protein bar (2g). Lunch will be chicken quesadillas a la Amanda (6g) (how's that for mixing Spanish & French :p ). It was so good last night that I can hardly wait to have more for lunch! Dinner - possibly a cheeseburger (2g). There are pleny of snacks around if I need them.
4. Exercise - Pilates. I did the 20 minute exercises but added in some from the 50 minute workout as well. I'm really proud of myself for sticking with this so many days in a row and actually still enjoying it rather than seeing it as a chore!
Laurie, the Ben & Jerry's Carb Karma Vanilla Swiss Almond ice cream is basically mediocre low carb vanilla ice cream with yummy dark chocolate covered whole almonds in it. The almonds are definitely the highlight! I prefer the CarbSmart Klondike ice cream bars that have vanilla ice cream (better tasting, I think) covered with a crunchy chocolate coating. However, in the interest of my low-carb WISH friends, I'll probably try them both again just to make sure! :teeth:
Also, Laurie, I'll work on contacting my friend & get the info back to you. Don't worry about missing the PM - next time I'll post a head's up in your journal. :D
I'll be back later with updates but now it's off to the doc's again.

Just a suggestion but ask the Dr to see if DS has a sinus infection. Whenever I get them my throat hurts like I have strep and sometimes my ears will hurt as well.
You had a great day yesterday! I love your dinner - I may have to try that - I've never done it without the tortilla before. hmmm.....
Have a great day today sweetie!

Hi Doe
It looks like your having a great week sticking to you goals! I hope your son gets to feeling better very soon!!! I dug through my exercise tapes and found my Pilates tape! It has 2 different 20 min. workouts on it so I think I'll give it a try this morning when I get done on the treadmill.
Have a GREAT day. Sending some pixie dust :wizard: to get you son feeling better.

Good morning Doe!
You are doing a great job with your food and exercise! My friend loaned me her Windsor Pilates DVDs and I'm going to give them a try tomorrow. I'm hoping to incorporate them with the FIRM on my rotation schedule.
I hope that your DS starts to feel better soon. Any news from the doctor today?
Have a gr8 day!

Thanks for all the well-wishes for DS! You guys are so sweet! He's 16 yrs old, but I think he's really enjoying hanging out at home with Mom taking care of him.
Amanda, the doc checked for a sinus infection - none so far, but he gave me a prescription for antibiotics just in case one flares up. Thanks so much for the heads up!
At this point, DS' symptoms seem viral so we'll ride it out. He did get a prescription for some heavy duty cough meds with codeine for home and a note to take his over-the-counter cough meds & cough drops at school. The kids aren't even allowed to carry Lifesavers without a dr's note!!
Now I'm off to make some lunch - I'm starving and the yummy chicken is calling me!! :sunny: DS is having biscuits to soothe his tummy & then taking more meds - poor kid. :(

Hi Doe! OOHHH how nice to have a couple of unanticipated days off from work! ;) I know DS being sick is not good, but those sick kids days are so nice sometimes. You get to make a nice dinner at a reasonable hour, the laundry gets caught up, the house picked up..... The weekend will find you with some extra free time this week!:smooth: Gotta look for the positives, right?!:teeth:
Yesterday looks great for your goals. That chicken sounds delicious!!! I think I'll have to give it a try. Sounds pretty WW friendly too!
Keep up the great work with your exercise! You are putting me to shame princess: Doe!!
Have a wonderful, :sunny: day!! Hope DS is feeling better!
