Hi Liz--thanks so much for all you've done. You can count on my group of six for the cruise if it goes, but the early B&C won't work for us--too close to our dinner time. Hope to see you in November.

Party of 4 checking in...keep in mind we may be a little late as we have a PS at 1900 Park Fare for dinner at 5pm but we'll head on over for some ice cream after.

barbeml - do you have dinner plans that evening already? If not, you could eat dinner at B&C. While I haven't sampled, I hear their hamburgers and lime rickeys are the best on property.

Hopefully, we'll still get that second boat.

DW and I will be there. I'll be the only one interested in sharing a Kitchen Sink. DW's idea of a sundae is vanilla ice cream with hot fudge sauce, she does not want any part of the all the other goodies in a Kitchen Sink.

I'll have to check with DH and see if he'll be up to it. :) Hopefully he will - I'd love to meet other Disers!

You can count on seeing two very happy Cdn Disers at the Kitchen Sink Party.
Can't wait to meet you all.

6pm for ice cream may preclude others from joining us if they have firm dinner plans.

Since you don't have to show up for the cruise until 8pm and it's right at the Y&B Marina, could we back it up a bit? Maybe 6:30 or 7pm?

This might allow barbeml to bring her group and would give me a little more breathing room to get to the Y&B from the GF.

Any opinions? I am not dictating here, just asking for feedback.

So I will get a table and we can continue to add as everybody comes....for those who would like to start to gather and mingle at 6:00 and grab a few extra seats and order the Kitchen Sink at about 7:00...does that help at all? I hope so!!!!

Any time after 5 PM is fine with us. It's been our experience that Beaches and Cream gets very crowded after Illuminations so I'd agree with zulaya's suggestion of meeting at 6:30 or 7 PM.

We were considering dinner there also so.. we can also have a table that we can add people to. See you all there.

I'm Back on Board!
Finally able to post under my own user name again- Just wanted to let everyone know that I still haven't been able to secure that second boat but I'm still trying- Also to say that Beaches and Cream is still a go for us, but expect one more- my DS will be with us.
This means that if we can't get that 2nd boat we will be giving up our seats on the Illuminations cruise-Maybe fixintodie and his DW can jump on instead.

KDawnLily, thanks for the mention about getting back on the cruise if you can't do it. We can toss a coin with lizdotcom99 to determine who gets the last 2 seats. Then again I'll probably be trying to book a Birthday Fireworks Cruise in late January. Both DW and I have late Jan birthdays. So there may be no need for a coin toss. Can't believe there's only 62 days or so until our meet.

KDawnLily--I have some concerns about people having to give up their seats. We do not have kids but are traveling with my 3-year-old nephew for the first time, and I worry that his "moods and stamina" may be unpredictable.

I would hate for any of you guys to give up seats and then wind up having just me and my Hubby available for the cruise because Nephew gets cranky, sick or exhausted.

Any advice? I am willing to back out my whole group if it means everyone else can get on the boat.

barbeml--- I think it's going to be your call. The boat costs $120 plus tax I think. Then there's the captain's gratuity. From what I have read, most groups tip $20-$25 depending on their captain. If we fill the boat with the max - 12 people - then it's going to cost $12-$13 per person for everyone to pay their own share. So I guess you'd need to decide when the time comes for everyone to pay me if you want to pay for your whole group or not.

KDawnLily

zulaya beat me to the answer but I also sent you a PM barbeml.

barbeml
09-16-2003, 04:55 PM
Thanks guys. Don't get me wrong--we are all excited about the boat. It's just that I am inexperienced with little kids and travel and don't want to make others suffer at our expense! He is usually an angel but he's never had a week of WDW stimulation and can really be a cranky pants when he's tired. It would be a shame if someone could not go because of a last-minute meltdown.

DH and I are definites no matter what, and it is likely that it will be all six. Once we have paid our share we will certainly not back out of that obligation no matter what.

zulaya
09-16-2003, 05:10 PM
barbeml-- For that matter, if the rest of your party does cancel out, then whoever else can't make it on the boat (if we don't get a 2nd one) can take those spots and reimburse you. It can be that simple. Everyone is meeting at B&C beforehand anyway so they will be there and if there is space, then it can be easy to do!

I am sorry if I made it sound difficult. I want everyone to come! Your 3 yr old will probably love it. My 7 year olds will love having another kid around. The 3 of them will probably have more energy than the rest of us!

barbeml
09-16-2003, 05:47 PM
Zulaya--you did not make it seem difficult. I was just worried about potentially depriving others of the opportunity. Thanks for all your efforts, we're looking forward to a great time.

We arrive at WDW on Nov. 7. We can try to get on the waiting list when we get there.
(I'm sure that one or two of the CM's are starting to recognize my voice....I hardly get 8pm Specialty cruise for Nov... out and a couple of times they have chimed in.. the 17th?)

I have posted the link to our Kitchen Sink Meet on the 'who's going in November' thread. We may see more Dis'ers yet.

Only 51 more days till We check in....

I am guessing that no one else has had any luck snagging another boat? I still call periodically. I wish one of those other 3 people would cancel their trips:p It sure would make it easier for us:p

09-29-2003, 11:24 PM
No luck yet, but I will keep trying!! I also plan to get on the waiting list once on property. I will be there the 15th of November. If anybody gets there before that and would like to get on the waiting list...please feel free to do so, but you must be on property to get added to the list. It also might not be a bad idea to get some names and numbers of people who would like to be able to contact one another in case somebody gets lucky with that other boat. If you would like to be on a call list, please contact me with your name, where staying and cell phone number (optional). This information will be used for the purpose of getting another boat so that you may be contacted of a change. Also with your info please include your arrival date and if you would be willing to get on the waiting list. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by way of email or PM.

Zulaya, how many do you have for your boat????12??? I am quite sure we could fill another given the opportunity to get one.
I'm gonna keep on trying!!

I *think* the groups that are on the boat my DH got are;

zulaya - 4 people
barbeml - 6 people
Kdawnlily - 2? - but I seem to remember that she might be bringing another person and if so that might put us over the limit.

I know lizdotcom99 and fixintodie, both groups of 2, offered to give up spots.

We probably should finalize this list now since October is tomorrow.

Liz - sending you a PM with my cell. I am at BCV on November 15th same as you I think.

09-30-2003, 10:54 AM
Yes, we are going to have one more - my DGS who is 5-well- I guess he will be 6 then. I think that liz or fixin could take those spots of ours if we don't get that second boat. I am going to put us on the waiting list when we get there on Nov 7. Anything can happen in 10 days... so we will give liz a call if we get that 2nd boat before your arrivals. I'm sure we could get some more if we had that second boat. We can even check out the cruise central thread- let people know that if we get that second boat we may have a couple of spots available and if they would like to join our party they are more than welcome.

I found out that they do not take PS, but I was able to "warn" him of all of us crazy DISers looking to have a good time on the 17th. I let him know that there would be some of us dining there for dinner at 6 and more expected sometime between 6:30 and 7 is and then a bunch catching a crusie at 8:15. He said he could not really reserve anything for us...but would make all management aware that we would be there and try to make some sort of accomodations. He was very nice and accomadating, considering the scenerio. I told him that the Kitchen Sink was definately on our list of things to do!!!! I also tried for another boat and well.....you all know that story. It seems as though there are several of us all trying to get a second boat that day....as there is another group having the same problem as us. Oh well, here's hoping...but I am getting very excited to meet all of you at B&C. Anybody else care to meet us at Beaches and Cream...still working on that head count!!

Hey all, I am guessing that since there hasn't been any activity on this thread, that we still don't have that 2nd boat. Drat.

Since we are 3 weeks away from the day most of us arrive, I'd like to ask that we decide who is going with my and my group. barbeml has 6 in her party and I have 4 in mine. Kdawnlily has a party of 3 now and from what I understand has bowed out. So lizdotcom99 or fixintodie, which of you couples are coming?

And then, not to bring it up in a weird way, but what is everyone comfortable with in terms of sharing the cost? Do you want to do it the night of the event? Not trying to pressure anyone, just wanting to get it clear before we all leave and such.

barbeml
10-24-2003, 03:32 PM
I have confirmed with my group that everyone does indeed want to do this...and all are excited about it. (Just ordered my DIS tee shirt!). My SIL assures me that when my nephew is prepped for "evening events," he is good about taking a nap. The only possible glitch is if her Mom has to fly back home unexpectedly to attend to her Dad--he is a cancer patient and has had some ups and downs lately. That would make our group 5.

As of now we are a go for the six, and paying that evening would be no problem at all...and probably best, since it will be definite and you won't have to worry about "refunding or billing."

lizdotcom99
10-25-2003, 01:39 AM
Greg and I are happy just to meet everyone at Beaches and Cream and heckle from above. Should you have trouble filling the boat.....we would certainly be able to give a hand with that at the last minute!!!!

KDawnLily
10-25-2003, 03:43 AM
Mom and I have opted out of the 1st boat, given that I wasn't able to snag that second.. but with that said.. If I do snag a second Everyone is in a Boat.... I'm still hopeful that when I arrive and get on that waiting list.. maybe.. just maybe there will be a boat available...
then our party of 3 becomes a party of 5 and we will have room for 7 more.

fingers crossed.. toes crossed.. pixie dust is flying.

We will definitely see everyone at the Beaches and Cream- We will be wearing our Dis T's also.

Sorry to be so late getting back to you but we've been in Florida on a non-Disney trip to Tampa for a wedding. DW and I will be at the Beaches and Cream affair and would like to go on the cruise if there's room. Our DIS t-shirts arrived while we were gone so we'll be somewhat identifiable by them and my Off Kilter hat.

Myself, my DW and 3 yo DD will be at the world from 11/14 - 11/25. We will try to attend the Beaches and Cream fiasco. We have PS for 1900 at 1630hrs., so we are not sure if we can pull off the B&C meet. If you guys get a second boat, or need help filling the first boat let me know, we would really love to be a part of that.

Thanks, Bill

Hi Everybody,
I just wanted to let you know that we will not be able to attend the DIS meet that was planned. Due to some old reoccuring ankle problems I am having, we have canceled our trip. It has been a pretty upsetting day here. Anyway I am hoping that all of you will have a wonderful trip and have a scoop of icecream for me!!!!! Should anyone be needing a great priced BWV, please let me know as we need to use our points by the end of November!!! Enjoy!!! I will miss meeting all of you!!!

Just a few days left before our little meet at Beaches and Cream. We'll be arriving there between 6:15 and 6:30 Monday night. Of course we'll be wearing our grey DIS t-shirts.

Zulaya, do we go to the dock in front of the YC/BC to get aboard the cruise boat?

Look forward to meeting you all Monday night.

We will try to meet you all at Beaches and Cream first, but if we can't we will shoot for the YBC Marina at 8.

Forigive me, but where exactly is Beaches & Cream? Is it easy to walk there from International Gateway?

I will have my gray DIS shirt on!!

Barbe

zulaya

Beaches and Cream is at the Beach Club Resort which is about a 5 minute walk from the International Gateway. As you approach the BC, it will be on your right. Look for the Pirate Ship slide. Walk around the near side of it towards the BC itself. Beaches and Cream is located near the pool area. You'll have to angle your way around to the left and behind the pool to get there.

I'll have my DIS button - didn't get the shirt in time! We'll be late comers to B&C too with our PS at 1900 Park Faire being at 5pm.

See you all on Monday!!!!!!

Hi all!

Well it all went well! I met fixintodie (Bob) and his wife at B&C and we hung for a while before my crew came down from the room. We moseyed over to the marina only to find out we didn't have to be there until 8:15. I took my kids over to the lighthouse to burn off some energy.

barbeml (Barb) and her crew came right at 8:15 and we got the kids suited up with life jackets and loaded up on our boat with Captain Aaron. Amazingly enough, Cap. Aaron says he has never fished in his life. Couldn't handle baiting his own line with live bait it seems.

He took us around Crescent Lake and down the canal to MGM and then we headed back and parked under the bridge for Illuminations. It was pretty spectacular to be right on the water. It was my DD's birthday and a few other birthdays on the other boats there too, so all the captains gave us the signal to blow out the torches around WS lake as those were the birthday candles for the night. My DD blew and was amazed when the torches went "out".

Totally worth the money for a special occasion. The music is still as stirring as ever. I'll have to try and get one for my Grand Gathering, maybe.

See you all later!

Thanks again to Zulaya (Mary) and "Fastest Finger" for making it happen. It was definitely a highlight of the trip for all of us. My Sister-in-law's Mom was particulary awestruck--first time seeing Illuminations.

Aaron was great--my nephew talked his ear off and he was very patient!
