We are planning a trip to Disney World in September and plan to camp but there is very little info. on the Disney Campground. Anyone with any insight? I would appreciate any ideas, facts or opinions on the place. Thanks.

I don't have any information personally. There is however a seperate forum on these boards for camping, you can check it out. Go up top and click on trp planning and scroll through the list.

And Welcome!

I also was wondering if the Magic Kingdom Club discounts apply at the Campground. Anyone know?

Doesn't exist anymore. It has been replace by the Disney Club.

There is information online at the Disney site.

There are DC discounts for FW as well as AP discounts. There is a whole Camping at Disney section on this very site. I am going for the first time at the end of this month and will post a trip report when I get back. If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask :)

AFAIK, AAA still offers discounts at Fort Wilderness Campground too. Jeff Spencer's FAQ is great! Have fun reading it!!!

Thanks! I can guarentee we are going to have loooots of questions while planning this trip. We are going with another couple and their kids and our plan was to get 2 sites but now that we know you can have 10 people on one site and 2 tents we are thinking of only getting one site and using the money we save for fun stuff. Any one have any comments on if this is a good or bad idea.

Thanks,
Lisa

PS...we are going in September but the dates are unclear...any advice on whether early (tho after Labor Day) or later in Sept. is better. We are wondering about temp. and rain mostly.

Immollohan,
We were there late last Sept (21-28) and will be returning at the same time this year. (20-28) We loved late Sept.
It rained each day but only for 1/2 hour (one day it rained an entire hour HARD! but we were perched under an awning in Italy at Epcot and with a nice glass of wine and Pavoratti (SP?) singing to me it was one of my special memories actually.
It wasn't too hot, and the crowds were quite thin. With a little planning and research we hit the right parks on the right days. We never had more than a 15 min wait for any ride and frankly those were rare.
There were love bugs to contend with in late Sept. (little bugs flying around while they are maiting...attached at oposite ends....my son said "mommy, look! That bug had a head at each end just like CatDog!" they look like lightning bugs (fireflys to the rest of the world) with no light. They don't bite and we found them to be a small bother at best.
I have never been there earlier in Sept, so i don't really have a frame of refference, but that's my take on late Sept.

good luck - lori

we used the disney club card and got 20% off the value season rates!! we are going sept 9- 16. it worked out to $210.00 for seven night at a partial hook-up. Are you tent camping or pop-up??

Birnbaum's Guide to WDW always has a chapter on Fort Wilderness. You can buy this book at any major bookstore, or any Disney Store. I will also point out, that Birnbaum's notes that they and AAA rank Fort Wilderness, the #1 campground in the USA.

On a personal note, don't miss the evening Chip & Dale campfire, movie, sing-a-long as it is free and enjoyable regardless of your age. Hoop-Dee-Doo is a must, and make reservations early as it is often a sell out. You can also do the Hayride, and All American Backyard Bar-B-Q. All these events are held in Fort Wilderness ! I just Love Fort Wilderness.
