This will be our first time ever staying there. If requests are taken at check-in where do I want to be?
Is the 1st floor better? Pool view? Near the bus stop or boat launch?
Please Help!

This is a realitivly small resort so you can't go wrong. "far from the elevator" is equal to approx. 1/2 of a Boardwalk Hallway.
Here are room reports along with member comments to give you some ides.

It is a terrific resort, I'm sure you love it no matter what room.

Hi, Tinkrbell. You will absolutely love VWL!!!
I would recommend requesting the pool/lake side of the resort, as the dumpster view, and busses are on the other side. Requesting a room closer to the elevators will increase your chances of a pool view, but I personally prefer the 'wilderness view' at the far end of the hall (not a formal, recognized DVC view).
Good luck, and enjoy the wilderness!!!

Almost forgot... Not sure what size room you are getting, but many fifth floor villas have beautiful vaulted ceilings.
Also be sure to ask for an open balcony, as a few have them enclosed.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply's
We are getting a 2br unit so the 5th floor might work. I just worry about elevator service up there. Are the elevators quick? Is there 1 or 2? I always seem to be waiting forever at hotels for elevators.

We never had a significant wait for the elevator. My mind may be slipping here, but I know there are at least two, possibly three elevators.
Good luck...

I was just in a 1BR on the fifth floor with the beautiful vaulted ceilings and two balconies (both enclosed). We really loved this villa. It was the first villa to the left when you got off the elevators. There are two elevators and we hardly had to wait at all for an elevator at any time.

The two elevators are pretty quick...and you can pass the time waiting for them by admiring the wonderful animal etchings on the outside of the elevator doors!
The first floor will, of course, take the elevators out of play. But also, you will not get a balcony with the first floor. You will get a patio with bushes around it to help with the privacy.
The vast majority of the views at VWL are of the woods, so of all the DVC resorts, I think VWL has the least amount of disappointment in views. I guess there is the small number of rooms with the quiet pool view that some people really like, but it's nothing to compare with the Boardwalk view or Illuminations view rooms at other resorts.
Hope you have a great trip!! :)

I tried this link before I left and it didn't work then either....
We just got back - had a corner room - 4528 that was a dedicated 2 bedroom. Seemed a little smaller and was a different layout than our dedicated 2 bedroom in the past - think it had something to do with being on a corner. We could see the bus stop but no big deal....
Didn't like this location because you could hear people letting their kids SCREAM in the hallways, balcony area. Sigh.....
The elevators were quick - no problem. If you get a room down at the end of a long hall, it will be a walk if you want coffee :)
Have fun,
Annette

Sorry, some people reported problems, so I have added the file extension and that seems to have fixed it:

Oh that's a big pet peeve of mine. Why do parents let their kids do this? Everytime I go on vacation people are LOUD in the hallway, even adults. Drives me crazy.
My daughter knows better than to scream in a hallway, especially after 8 p.m. If she does, she is told to be quiet right away.

**********s- Thanks for fixing that for me. It is very helpful.
It seems like the rooms on the 5th floor have the best view.
1) Is the MK view in the back of WL or the front? I'm a bit disoriented from the maps.
2) Do the trees block a lot of the views?

Jennifer - yea - someone else!! :) We tell the kids when we are getting off the elevator - "please don't yell or race because people might be sleeping" - it's not big deal and then the kids know. The screaming we heard may have been a family on one level screaming at the ones on the lower level.
at the Grovesnor on sat night, there was some sort of a reunion with people SCREAMING in the halls at 1030pm and again around 230am - didn't get much sleep that night either with the Grovesnor's slamming doors (not the people, I think they just shut loudly on their own!).
Thanks for writing too,
annette

I am also wondering the same thing about the studios at VWL. Can anyone tell me which ones are the best for view and location as well as vaulted ceilings?

The vast majority of the rooms at VWL are views of the trees, in keeping with its theming.
This picture gives you an idea of what I mean...VWL is the red roofed building:

Do you know if the 2 lockout studios on the 5th floor have vaulted ceilings?
