View Full Version : Meme's skinny jeans journal

I'm starting my journal today to stay motivated because I have way too many cheat days and not enough exercise days. So far I have done well. I was going to stop and pick up bagels for my office but stopped at the grocery store and bought Atkins bread & a shake. So I made a great decision. I thought about myself wearing my skinny jeans. If you watch Sex in the City, it was part of an episode 2 weeks ago. It made me remember that I have been saving a few pairs of jeans (though I can't get them past my thighs) for when I lost weight. Well I am now on that mission(maybe Tom Cruise will join me), boy that would be motivation;) I'm having my shake now and will journal the rest of my day later.
Hope it's ok to post here, if not, just yell at me! :)
I think your skinny jeans motivation is GREAT! I bet you will be in them in no time!!! I wish Tom Cruise would join you too (hubba hubba!) I loved that episode, Miranda looked GREAT in her skinny jeans. I know you can do this! DH and I had a bunch of pants stuck away in a closet that neither of us could fit into anymore. It was so exciting to take them out and try them on and have them FIT! I know you can do it and I will be waiting to celebrate with you when that great day comes!
You have a great attitude, good luck! ;)

Hey, Meme, congrats on your journal! Move those skinny jeans to the front of your closet where you can see them every day and try them on once a week. You'll get into them, you'll see. And one day you'll be walking out of Starbucks on State Street (that's where it is, isn't it?) or something, look over your shoulder, and Tom C. will be following you!;)
I don't have skinny jeans, but I do have a skinny bathing suit that I want to wear on our cruise in 6 weeks. My new motto is "15 (pounds, that is) in 42" (days 'til the trip). While I know that's a lot to lose, I figure I won't get anywhere by dreaming small--I want to get rid of these thighs ASAP! Set a goal for yourself, make it your mantra, and you'll succeed!
Let's hear it for Bucks County WISHers!

Thank you Tigh & Lulu201 for the encouragement.
The skinny jeans will be moved to the front, I'm not sure I want them though. A new shopping spree will be another motivation. Does Tom do Starbucks? he's taken now anyway.
Well yesterday I had an atkins shake, cheeseburger w/bacon & mushrooms(no bun), small salad w/ blue cheese. Great, then after work they dragged me to a bar(I went screaming:p ) and had a cosmo(how many carbs?) and 1 cracker w/cheese spread. So not too bad but... Went home to make ground beef w/cheese & salad w/ creamy garlic dressing and the night was done.
Did abs & streching this am with egg & bacon for breakfast w/ coffee w/cream.
I must stay focused for the weekend. Have a family b-day party and must resist the cake - ahhhh:(

Meme...LOL about the skinny jeans!!! I didn't see the episode but I do the same thing...I have a couple of pairs of shorts that I bought for motivation, specificallys mall. I can't even cram my fat stomach into them, but I know it will gradually increase and one day I will be able to wear them and throw away these horrible, worn-out, jumbo shorts I have here now! :)
That's funny about being dragged off to the bar...I am told that clear liquors without any kind of fruit juice are ok as they have no carbs (though the alcohol gets burned first) so I'm thinking I need to switch myself from being a beer drinker to being a bacardi and diet coke drinker. Moderation and all that, but still...for me, going out and having a few drinks is very fun and I have always enjoyed it...and mich. ultra at 2.6 grams is fine, but not a pitcher of them
Anyway, I wanted to pop in and offer you encouragement, you're doing great!!! Try to resist those cheats, it's not easy but before you put that cracker in your mouth, eat the spread and chuck the cracker...you'll be proud of yourself! I know everytime I throw away a bun, I feel like I've liberated myself in some small way! LOL Ok, maybe that's a bit dramatic!
Keep up the great work and keep us posted on your skinny pants progress! ;)

Good girl!!! :)
My younger son turns 9 tomorrow and we are going to be giving his cake away at Dixie Landings (POR) tomorrow night at Bob Jackson's show...there's no sense in a 1/4 sheet cake sitting around with only 2 kids eating it, and goodness knows, they would try!!!
I promise not to cheat either! :)

Thanks for your Posts:p
I did not have cake or icecream, only water & diet pepsi. I ate an atkins bar before I left. Now I'll have a really late dinner of a cheeseburger minus the buns. Yum!
Hey Karen are you're there now? I envy you. You'll have to tell all about POR that's where we head in 6 weeks, oh my I have to get moving:Pinkbounc It must be so hard to stay motivated at disney, hope you stayed focused, I'm watching:cool:

hi MEME
Just found your thread (told you I was new to this game!)
Very impressed, and yes I have several pairs of lovely jeans and cropped trousers which will not go over my thighs (how embarrasing) So enough motivation for me too. I can wear them all in Feb on my hols!
the above post certainly seem to confirm our thoughts on the Vodka, I think as long as it is with a diet mixer you are o.k in moderation. (I am going to start a campaign to ban that bloody word "moderation") "Excess" is much nicer dont you think!!
We can only dream about an ATKINs update " alcohol may be consumed freely and excessively, in fact it will AID weight loss!"DREAM DREAM DREAM :p :D
Hope it is O.k to share my trip for this evening on your threads, as I think you USA WISHER's will find it off interest.
I am going to a lovely English Country Inn in a place called Matlock in the Derbyshire Dales. Very pretty with thatched roof's and green hills etc. The Pub puts the R&C in Epcot to shame, it is made of Derbyshire stone and inside there are low ceilings with beams and dried flowers and horse brasses on the walls. It is a very traditional place, but the food is 1st class. I plan to have ......
Hartington Muchrooms - large wild mushrooms oven baked in garlic and butter and topped with a local blue cheese ;)
A meat dish for entree, these are the speciality, either steak chicken or lamb is served on a huge sizzling iron platter, it comes to the table hissing and spitting and the table is filled with lots of side dishes, cheesy cauliflower, lots of different potatoes, which I will ignore of course, loads of lovely fresh veg. I will treat myself to a couple of their home made battered onion rings, as they are my favourite and I havnt cheated all week, they will be my only carb.
The desserts as you can imagine are ridiculously gorgous Dont even go there! they do have a cheese selection though if I am still hungry, which idoubt after thatlot!
:D
Anyway sorry for hijacking you thread but I know you AMericans seem to like all things English!! Funny as I like all things US anyone want to swap!!

Feebee, share whatever you wish on my thread:D
Your dinner sounds fabou, I'm salivating and I just woke up. How many onion rings? 1 maybe 2. I love a real onion ring, not the fake stuff they serve at most places, though I will stay away from them for a while.
I don't know how my thighs and hips outgrew my pants, seems like I just wore them, ahhh! Well I have 6 weeks from tomorrow and I will fit into some fo my skinny clothes, or Mickey will not be able to wrap his arms around me.
For extra motivation I read posts by Kamgen. Look at her before & after shots, stunning. So I think about her and it gives me s kick in my big ole butt.
One day totally cheat free and now for my second. And I must do at least 55 min of cardio today.
I'm also heading for the health food store to see what they carry. Off to eat my atkins b-fast.

Hey, 6 weeks from tomorrow you'll be in WDW? We'll be in WDW then on our cruise 40 days from today! MeMe, we're going to be looking so amazing that Mouse won't even recognize us!
Anyway, on to serious stuff. . .skinny cows!:p I wish I could say that I have good news, but well, it doesn't look good for you, Atkins girl. The sandwich cows have 27g and the fudge bar cows have 22g. I know you're liking the Atkins thing and all, but I think you should seriously consider defecting and jumping into my low carb WW camp. Hey, if it can get you a cow, it might be worth it.
Are you going to that health food store on State Street? That man there is so nice. He's the one that showed me where the Atkins baking mix was and he had the best price around! I live in Warwick Township, but work in Southampton--they have a nice health food store called Bunn's there. Have you ever been in? Well, don't go looking for Atkins--they don't stock it. Has to be special ordered.
Today's a beautiful day for the 55 min. of cardio. You go girl!:smooth:

Thanks Lulu for the post. I went to the store in Penndel, bought the keto brand & lo-something. Muffins & rolls & ketchup. I've done ww but couldn't stick to it(did it 2x) and did jenny craig. Atkins seems to keep my carb overload in check, if you know what I mean.
I should try to store on State St, it's so close I forgot about it.
You're on the 10/2 cruise? we're on the 10/12 cruise, 4 night wonder and before that we have 7 days at the POR. I am so excited and now I am so focused.
Sat was a good day - beautiful. Hung by the pool and swam. exercise but not intense. Did abs, push ups and stretching and tonight walked 40 minutes.
B-1egg, 1 bacon, 1 cheese, 1 atkins bread, coffee w/cream
L-salami, roast beef & sharp cheese, atkins chips, water
S-low carb shake, cheese stick
D-2 hotdogs, clams w/ butter, cucumber w/vinegar
S-glass red wine & low carb chocolate bar
Weighed in at 0 lose but that's ok, I'll do better next week.

No, MeMe, we're on the 10/5 Wonder four day with stop in Freeport. We're going down to Orlando on 10/3 to celebrate DD's 13th birthday at the Halloween Party in the MK!:Pinkbounc Saturday, 10/4 we'll spend the day in Epcot, and Sunday we'll leave for the port. DH will celebrate his bday at Castaway Cay! We're staying at All Star Music--where we stayed when we were in WDW in January. (Can't believe I got DH to let us go again so soon!) We stayed at the PO French Quarter once and we really liked it. You're so lucky to be spending a whole week there!
We're in a cat. 11 on the ship; still dreaming of a pixie dust upgrade, though.
Have to agree, the trip is really helping in keeping me on track. I
get a little worried wondering if I'll be able to maintain the focus after we get back, but then I think of you and Castillo Mom and Disney Grannie and Karen and all the other great people on this board and I think it'll be OK. One day at a time, right?
About all this exercise. . .the treadmill and the weight lifting is kind of a drudge though I feel good while I'm doing it and ecstatic when I'm finished!:p The biking is pure joy because I find it so relaxing. What I'm thinking, though, is that I have to really go all out NOW--before my work schedule becomes more demanding in mid-Sept. (more classes and students) or I won't see the results I want. When I'm back into my full-time work routine, I'll be down to 30 minutes treadmill and bike time will be questionable (especially when it gets cold! ). Also, I have a 12 year old DD while you have a little guy. When DD was that small, I didn't have the time that I do now; it's challenging to find any time for yourself when you have a young child.
Be kind to yourself if you're going to try working out at 5:30 a.m. It's hard to get up at that time when it's dark outside! It can be hard to exercise right after awakening, too. You might want a routine that has a lot of warm up time! A couple of years ago, before my DD had the early morning school schedule, a friend of mine and I walked at 6 a.m., three days a week, for a whole school year. If I hadn't known she was outside my door each morning, I don't think I could've done it so regularly, particularly in January! See if you can find someone in your neighborhood, particularly if you're planning on being outside alone. All that said, the early morning is a great time to be doing something for yourself--no demands from anyone else, quiet all around. . .
Don't forget, too, that every a.m. I'll be up at 5:30, too, thinking of you and mentally pushing you out of that bed and into your exercise! We gotta support each other!!!!!!;)
Well, DD is chomping at the bit to go biking and I'm so grateful she'll go, I don't want to let her down.
Have a great day and keep up the awesome work! I'm jealous of your cheat free days! (If I just hadn't met up with that general. . .)

Lulu and Meme, I'm so jealous, you'll be sailing off pretty soon won't you? You have a lot to look forward to! I still have almost a year to go. Just changed my reservations from CBR to the Beach Club and I'm so excited but I'm keeping it a secret from hubby and kids.
Hey, I forgot about the Atkins bread. I'm going to run to the healthfood store today because I'm dying to have a sandwich! I still haven't posted my menus for the last couple of days. I tried to last night but I got too sleepy.
That's a great idea about the skinny pants MeMe. I have a dress I wore for a millenium New Year's Eve celebration that I think I'll try on. I bet I won't get it past my thighs!LOL:eek: It'll be a way to gauge my weight loss without weighing every day.
Karen, I didn't know you could drink clear liquors. Hmmm.....I wonder how Bacardi and Crystal Light on ice would taste. Am I desperate or what?:p
You all are doing great with the exercise. I start tomorrow. Remind me of how it's good for me when I complain about being sore. I haven't exercised in three years!:(
I'm off to do groceries......

I'm cheat free for 3 days and it was hard. Today was good.
B early-low carb roll w/ coffee
B w/dh - 1 sl atkins toast w/ low carb fruit spread, scrambled egg w/ peppers & cheese low carb ketchup 3 sl bacon w/coffee
L - sharp cheese, pepperoni, atkins chips, water
D- chicken strips w/ peppers, cheese, salsa, guacamole & s. cream
I'll have a sf jello & wh. cream later.
Swam a few laps but need more so I'll need to do abs & biking.
Lulu - have you done the mickey halloween before, we have tickets for the 10th, do you dress up what about your dh? We almost did the 10/2 cruise but thought it would be better to do the parks and then cruise. I'm also cat 11 and hopeing for that upgrade. When do you think our papers will arrive? What special do you have planned for the birthdays? We also celebrate my dh's on 10/5 the day we arrive. Any tips for the POR? wanted one of the lodges, but $$$.
I may not go outside at 5:30 am, I did once and didn't like it. I'll probably do a tape or try jump roping on my patio.
Let's all promise to tell the general, the colonel & the king to hit the road, we don't need them
:bounce:
Wow castillo mom, the bc? was that a huge $ difference? I really want to stay at the ak or wl but the $ difference is holding me back and I think I'll plan to go back next year.

You're doing a great job MeMe! The breakfast you had sounds so good, especially the toast and fruit spread.
I originally had two rooms booked at CBR (tough to find one room with a family of 5). A few months after I made my reservations, they raised the rate to $159 since I had requested Martinique and this was now a "preferred" building. I mulled it over and had actually thought about downgrading to two rooms at one of the AS. I was perusing the resort boards and someone mentioned that rooms at BC can accomodate up to 5. I officially made the switch on Friday and it turned out to be less expensive because of the one room. I'm very excited, more so than when I had made reservations for CBR and I'm keeping the change a secret. The only thing I mentioned was to my husband. I told him that due to budget constraints, I had to switch us to another resort and we'd have to share a room with the kids. He just groaned! But little does he know.... My boys are going to love Stormalong Bay.
Keep up the good work Meme!

Wow, MeMe, what yummy meals you had yesterday! That dinner sounds good! Did you get up this a.m. and exercise? How did it feel? Were you tired or energized?
I don't know what we're going to do for the Halloween Party. I have some Halloween sweatshirts, etc., that I might wear with my Minnie Mouse ears headband, or I might make special T-shirts for all of us. . .I just don't know! What are you planning? It'll be so much fun to see your little one in costume! You and your DH will have lots of great picture opportunities! At 13, my DD is definitely NOT in the dress up frame of mind, so I'm going to have to work on her a bit!
I'm ashamed to say this, but I don't have a whole lot planned for DD and DH's birthdays on our trip. For DD, we'll have a late lunch at Rain Forest Cafe in Downtown Disney before we head over to the H. Party; for DH, I guess that we'll sing to him in the dining room onboard the ship. I think of the whole trip as a birthday extravaganza!:D I have been tempted to surprise them with a gift basket on the ship, but I'm wondering if I really want to spend the money. Then I thought about bringing some wrapped surprises myself and then realized I wouldn't be able to get anything wrapped through security at the airport! What are you going to do?
The excursion we are hoping to do is visit the Atlantis in Nassau. We got that great rate at the Comfort Suites (for $136.50). Do you have anything planned? We stop in Freeport (do you?), but haven't planned anything to do there. If the weather's nice we may just grab a cab to a beach for a couple of hours.
I have no pointers for the POR. :( We loved our stay at the French Quarter; the food court was perfect for meeting the needs of our selective (then 4 yr. old) DD's tastes! You're going to enjoy the resort, I'm sure.
Well, gotta go start the day. Remember to make good choices, MeMe, 'cause all of us on the board are keeping tabs on you!:)

Did not get up to exercise, ahh. But have taken a sick day so I have all day.
Wondering about this weekend, labor day? if I head to the shore area with family I know there will be so my temptations. My dad already has a frozen margarita waiting. Thoughts?
LULU -I'm not sure about the costume thing. Tried to get Buzz lightyear pjs, but no luck. Realized he has batman pjs w/cape that he loves so I think that is what will do. For me just minnie mouse ears for dh ???. We have reservations at chef mickeys for his b-day. I'll get a cake and make him get the buttons in the park. For his gift I am booking him a ride of a lifetime at the racecar track, he's a big racing fan. I also looked at the baskets for the ship but the $$, thinking about the champagne & chocolate, probably shouldn't. Never thought about wrapped gifts w/ security. You can call the hotel and have some balloons. How does the atlantis deal work for the comfort suites? I was thinking about the atlantis excursion. No freeport on our trip.
Castillo mom- I've hear the stormalong bay is the best. Good for you:D

Meme, Your menu sounds SO yummy!!! I'm still eating the really boring induction stuff...is it safe to branch out? I'm scared! LOL
Keep up the good work!!!
I LOVE POR (Dixie, as I'll always call it!) and I think it's a great value...sometimes it's hard to justify the cost of the Premium resorts! We don't stay at the resorts much anymore since moving down here, but we spend more time at POR than any other resort, I'd say...
POR is split up into the Mansion section and the Alligator Bayou section and both are wonderful, but very different theming! I prefer the bayou, personally...it's more rustic, the pools are more of a free-form type...just more my style! The Bayou buildings 14-18 are the closest to the foodcourt and all the action, so those are the best buildings to request (14&15 are very close!). If you prefer the more formal...you might prefer the mansions, they are a bit further out and I can't tell you off the top of my head which ones are closest (you have to walk through the main pool and across the Sassagoula river) but I can find out!
Be sure to hit the lounge at least one evening...Wed.-Sat. night to catch Bob Jackson's show...he's awesome and the show is great for the whole family...no matter what age!
Lisa, I'm sure you know, but POR can accomodate families of 5 in the Bayou section where they have trundle beds...good for a little one, not so good for a teenager! Stormalong bay really is awesome and be sure to hit beaches and cream for a burger with no bun...their burgers are VERY yummy!
I'm jealous too...I can't wait to go back on the Disney cruise! I went on the 4 night cruise in '99 without my kids and now I want to take them (9 & 11) and my fiance...but we just bought a house...priorities and all that  It's going to be wonderful though, no doubt!!!
I don't know what advice to offer about visiting the shore....keep lots of safe snacks handy and drink that water to keep from feeling hungry! The margarita is a really tough one!
Keep up the good work! I know for myself, I stay motivated by saying "I didn't work this hard to blow it for the sake of one (fill in the blank)!" I want the fat to be burning, not the alcholol, or sugar or whatever is tempting me, and I get past it somehow...it's not easy though! You just have to try the best you can and give yourself a treat that you can live with once in awhile, maybe?

MeMe, when you go to the shore, just put on a blindfold and stick a clothespin on your nose and I'm sure you'll be fine. Just kidding! Seriously though, I 'd do what Karen suggested, bring some snacks with you that you know you can eat. Remember, focus, focus, focus. If you must cheat, I wouldn't cheat with sugar or any white flour. You know what to do MeMe. I have confidence in you!
Karen, maybe try adding 5 carbs and see how it goes. You can always go back on induction. I'm scared too, but I need more variety. Remember, this is a lifestyle change. If you have more options of what to eat, you're more likely to stick to the plan. Maybe try adding a little fruit or macadamia nuts, maybe an additional serving of veggies.

Thanks Karen for all the POR info. I am requesting the bayou I think bldg 15, I have a list of the recommended ones. And I've read about the lounge guy, is it ok to take a toddler?
So far today
b-1 sl atkins, 2 egg whites, 1 sl canadian bacon w/ low carb ketchup coffee w/cream, crystal light
s- water & part of lw carb bar
l-cheesburger no bun, water
s-water, part of low carb bar, small salad creamy parm dressing, piece sharp cheese & pepperoni
Dinner will be a struggle going to in-laws and don't know what is cooking. But will remember my new mantra- I didn't work this hard for the sake of one?(I love that, thanks Karen)
I'm still debating the shore thing, so many snacks it's so tempting and I don't think my parents would like it if I wore a blind fold, maybe they'd be ok with a bag over my head???
I'm off to do my new watp dvd, yeah.

It's absolutely fine to take a toddler!!! Grab the little one something to eat at the food court and bring it to the lounge and park yourselves at a table up front...little ones really seem to enjoy Bob's sill antics!!! :)
I think the bag on your head would be unsafe, but there's no reason you can't go with the clothespin on your nose...that will help a LOT! Great advice!!! :bounce:

Hey, MeMe, how are you today? Did you get in your workout yesterday? What about today? I'm behind on my journal and I need to hit the treadmill, but I wanted to check in with you and let you know I'm thinking about you and hoping you have another one of those amazing cheat free days of yours!
Thanks for all the birthday ideas. I'm going to have to sit down and think them all through. Yesterday we got our Disney excursion stuff in the mail, but I don't think I'll sign up for anything. Later on today, when I have a minute, I'll tell you about our plans for the Comfort Suites/Atlantis.
How did the meal with the in-laws go? I'm sorry to say that being
with my inlaws drives me to eat. I can be careful when I'm in their presence, but something happens afterwards and I'm driven to eat. Talk about an emotional eating response!!! However, if they offered me frozen margaritas I might have a real good time!:)
Honey, you've got to go to the shore. I know the anxiety you're facing--we're visiting my mom this weekend and will be gone from Thurs.-Sun. I'm so afraid that I'll lose my focus! Still, we have to meet these challenges, and I'm confident that you'll be able to go to the beach and remember all of us rooting for you. . .you'll be strong and successful, because this time (this moment in your weight loss history) is different from all the others that came before. You're committed to leading a healthy life and nothing--not even frenchfries and carmel popcorn on the boardwalk--can stop you.
Yikes, gotta run. Will talk to you later. Have a great day, MeMe!
Auntmeme
08-26-2003, 08:55 AM
I did it.
Yesterday
d-at inlaws - chicken w/ mushroom sauce and a few pieces of canteloupe, it was that or peas or rice, glass red wine, no cake or icecream, coffee w/ cream
Did the WATP express dvd that I bought and loved it, will have to find others she's great.
Did not get up this am to exercise, besides son waking me at 2 & 4 am my alarm did not go off, ahhh! So I commit to doing something after work. Are you sure typing at the computer isn't enough?
Thanks for the encouragement LULU:Pinkbounc
We also received our excursion book, my dh is not interested in any of them, boo. So maybe I can convince to go to the Atlantis, the aquarium, the beach, the casino, something for each of us.
I'm thinking about leaving on Friday afternoon and bringing my own snacks and some crystal light, I can mix with something if I feel the urge. We are outside of ocean city so probably won't do the boardwalk, way too much temptation. I'll wait till disney to have those fries.
I love these boards, thanks for keeping my focused:D

Hi, MeMe:) Just read on the cruise boards that some people on our 10/5 cruise have heard from their TA that they should have their "docs in hand" by Thursday! I hope we get ours; maybe it'll help me stay focused while we're visiting my mom. She's very supportive, but there's just something about being out of my routine that makes me want to splurge! You did a FANTASTIC job at your in-laws! Your strength is so inspiring!
As far as the Atlantis goes. . .we got a great rate at the Comfort Suites for a day room which allows us to have total access to the pools (as well as the beaches, restaurants, etc. ) at the nearby Atlantis. DD and I have seen the Mary-Kate and Ashley movie set in the Bahamas, and it all looks so cool!:smooth: Besides, she's a real pool nut, and from what I've read on the DIS and seen on the Travel Channel presentations on the cruise, the pools onboard are often crowded. With all the pools at the Atlantis complex, she's bound to have a good time--as long as the weather holds out. We got the rate of 136.50 by booking directly with Comfort Suites and asking for their GOLD rate (as suggested on the boards); if it looks like the ship won't dock at Nassau we can cancel as long as we let them know two days before. If you have any other questions, just let me know. . .you might like doing this, particularly 'cause it could give you and your little guy a chance to crash in the middle of the day if you needed to.
You're liking the WATP program, too? Hmmm, something I'll have to think about. Karen seems to love it as well.
GOTTA get to my journal,

Woo hoo! You did great at your in-laws MeMe. See, you CAN stay focused. Don't worry too much about the exercise, tomorrow is another day. I sure remember those days when my boys were little and those middle of the night wake up calls. I was so glad when they were over, but as I look back I kind of miss those times.
You might want to try diet Snapple if you haven't already. They're pretty good, especially raspberry and cranberry. Keep up the good work MeMe!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Up to cheat free day 6 - wow can't believe it. and yesterday a reeses cup was calling my name but stayed steadfast and threw it away(son did not finish it).
tuesday
b-atkind breakfast bar YUM couldn't believe it coffee w/cream
s- eas vanilla shake
l- slices of mozz & prosciutto
s- part of low carb bar
d-hot wings, bl cheese & broccoli w/ ch sauce, sf jello wh cream
Walked through the neighbor w/ ds. My legs are feeling 3 days of exercise in a row, I'm sure their in shock:p I know I am!
wednesday
late start again, but figured I need a little break or my legs my fall off:p
b- sl atkins toast, 2 egg wh, 1 sl can bacon, low carb ketchup, coffe w/ cream
Did abs, stretching & push ups. Will try to add something else after work.
I'll look into the diet snapple, I think some of them have carbs. I'm lucky because I've always been a water drinker, all day. Once in a while I like a diet dr. pepper and rarely do I switch brands. for variety I have added crystal light.
I'm not going down the shore, I feel some what relieved. My sister is not going so my ds would not have other kids to play with. Any how it will be easier to stay focused at home.
I hope I get my cruise info soon. I hear the ship is sold out, ahh. I can't wait to get there. I'm still looking into transportation between MCo, resort & port, any thoughts?
And thanks for helping me stay focused.

Meme! Day 6!!! Look at YOU!!! WOOHOO!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Good job resisting the evil peanut butter cup! Have you seen the atkins ones? My fiance and I haven't had anything sweet for 2 weeks and I saw them in the store...2 net carbs for 3 cups. I gave one to Kevin after dinner the other night, it's a tasty morsel...and one in his lunch....the third one is mine and I can take a teeny nibble every day and make it last for a number of days! LOL They aren't bad!
I haven't been able to find the breakfast bars
Good job with the exercising, it won't be long before you can do it with no pain!
It's probably best you didn't go to the shore at this time...you'll get stronger as you go and your cravings will dissipate. You'll find it easier and easier to stay focused and you'll have so many cheat free days, you'll lose count! :)
You're going to have SO much fun on the cruise! When I went, we rented a car...we got a really great rate (watch them!) and then parked it at the port. It was pretty cheap to park when we went (we were on the 4 day, and it was like $30 or something). The thing with it is, you can go to the store and get all kinds of good stuff to bring along. At the time, we brought lots of beer and cans of soda, but that doesn't sound good for YOU...but you get the point...we had a duffle just packed with that stuff. You pay for drinks that you want, with the exception of coffee, tea, soda, etc. that comes with your meals, and it adds up!
I wish I still had my van...I could be your driver! But, we're down to a pickup truck and no adult would fit in the back seat very well....
You must be SO excited though! I can't wait to take the 7 night cruise someday...the 4 was great and it just left me wanting more! Castaway Cay is just amazing...it's truly paradise!
Keep up the good work and have a great day!
Karen :smooth:

Hi, MeMe! Wait a minute. . .you threw away a reese cup AND you did ab exercises (like Karen)?! Just the fact that you do ab exercises makes you one of my heroes! Talk about strength. . .good for you.:Pinkbounc
We're using ******** to take us from MCO to WDW to the port to MCO. How did you find out that your cruise was sold out? I know that the cat. 11s on ours are gone. Makes me hope even more for that pixie dust upgrade!
It sounds like you're doing great, MeMe and really staying focused. Keep it up!

Can't believe cheat free day 7.
Wed
S-low carb muffin - pretty good
L-sls of salami & hot pepper cheese, chive cc
D-gr. turkey w/ch cheese, salsa, sc & guacamole - delicious
Did not get in any other exercise except sweeping & mopping, yuck!
Came of the boards and did the trip countdown but somehow lost the wish clip, what do I do???
Thurs
up at 5:45am, and boy it is still dark. Did 3/4 of the WATP and abs.
B-coffee w/c, 3 egg whites, 3 sausage, low carb ketchup
I can feel the fat slipping away, thank goodness. I need to fit into some shorts & dresses. I can't afford to keep buying new ones:p
LULU - on the cruise board someone else has been checking about our cruise and states that it is sold out. I also hope for that upgrade, I really want a verandah. But if not now then I can plan the next trip. And you be good at those restuarants, no bread!!! ******** quoted me way too much. Still looking though.
Karen, I have tried the low carb p cups & choc bars, they're ok. They do hit that sweet craving! Everytime I check for a rental car the $$ is almost 300. I can't find a good deal.
Here's to an downward holiday weekend! I hit the scale in 2 days and it better be lower or else everyone better duck:p

Meme, you've been doing so GREAT! I'm sure the scale will agree with me and show you a lower number! Have you taken your measurements? Sometimes I lose inches even when I haven't lost pounds. That keeps me motivated when the scale is being nasty.
Enjoy the holiday weekend and keep up the good work!!

Thanks Doe for you words. Yes I do measure probably more than the scale, and the numbers are lower & my clothes fit great but for some reason we have that obsession with those magic numbers. I will need your support for this long weekend. Please check back & make sure I'm behaving!

Great job, Meme!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
You must feel so great to have made it so many days without cheating...and I don't think one chip counts for anything!!! I admire you for being able to only have one!!!
I couldn't, I don't think! :(
I know it's been difficult passing up some of the wonderful things that are out there, but remember they are evil...EVIL I say!!! Imagine if you were on a low-fat diet all the restrictions you would have??? I keep telling myself that...I enjoy the foods we get to have and still lose weight! :bounce:
You might not have stepped on the scale..but how are your clothes fitting? I am ready to throw the scale out the window, but I have learned it's definitely not all about the weight because I work out every darn day and am eating right...and the scale is moving painfully slow, but I KNOW I'm getting smaller AND healthier, so don't be afraid, just be proud of what you're doing every single day!!!
Have a great weekend!

MeMe, you metioned something that's so important. When you're doing a food lifestyle change, you really need to make time to pamper yourself. It's not always easy, especially when you have a family. But keep taking that time out for yourself, you deserve it! Now if I could only follow my own advice. Maybe I'll follow suit and make an appointment for tomorrow to get my toesies done. Hi Meme,
I had a few drinks as well. Let's hope they don't put any pounds back on.
What kind of protein bars do you use. I know you said you had an Atkins bar for breakfast. How do they taste? I'm afraid to buy any because I heard some of the really low carb ones taste terrible. I looked in Acme yesterday and most of them had at least 12 carbs in them.
Do any of you WISH members know of a good, low carb bar? We should take a poll and see what most people like.
Have a great week. This might be the one where we all see a nice loss!! LOL

I don't know what day it is I have to go back and look. But I made it again and the carbs were staring at me all day. First potatoes at breakfast/lunch and then pretzels, doritoes, potato salad, broccoli salad & cake-ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
B-low carb muffin coffee w/cream
L-cheese & bacon omelet coffee w/cream, x-bacon
D-burger, no bun mustard & mayo, 2 hotdogs mustard
No exercise, yikes its been days. I feel yucky, I smoked last night and had too much alcohol and my body is feeling it. And I know I'm bloated, yuck yuck yuck.
I'll weigh in tomorrow as I only weigh in on my mom's scale and didn't have a chance to see her yet. I'll be up early tomorrow to exercise and start the week off right.
Nancy, I hope the frinks don't do much damage. I'll post the bar question. When you check the carbs You need to only count the net carbs for atkins, the book explains it, I really don't understand it. I like atkins chocolate coconut the best, the chocolate peanutbutter and the morning bar cinnamon bun flavor. I have had some others and they leave an aftertaste. The EAS low carb vanilla shakes are good. Walmart has better prices and GNC will sell by the box. The atkins crunchers are ok too. The prices are so ridulous but what are ya going to do. I hope the scale is good to you:D

Don't beat yourself up MeMe. Tomorrow is another day, so just keep looking forward. It's tough when TOM appears, it just thows you off kilter. I'm only going to nag you about one thing, so don't take it personal. DON'T SMOKE. You don't need me to tell you why and what the effects are. I work in the medical field and you'd be suprised that even though there's a lot of information out there about the dangers of smoking, it affects your body in many more ways than what you may realize. Your loved ones want you around for a long time, ok? Alright, alright, I'm off my soap box.
Hope you feel better soon MeMe. Have a great week!:D

How are you doing today, MeMe? I just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm thinking about you. . .sounds like you had a rough day or two, but you're still managing to be strong. Speaking from my perspective as The Big Cheat (you know, my little midgee indulgence?) in our little support group, I think you're doing an amazing job. Last month, the TOM almost knocked me right off the ole weight loss path, but you're still hanging in there, haven't fallen off the plan, and should feel good about that!:Pinkbounc

Oh, my gosh, you are so lucky!!! I want my docs AND an upgrade just like you, you skinny jeans girl!:smooth: I hope ours come soon, but if waiting gives me a chance at an upgrade. . .
MeMe, did you book with DCL or with an agent?
You are such an inspiration, MeMe. What does your DH say about

I'm going over to log in my food and look at my cheat free star.:p

Wow Meme, you're doing really well. You'll fit into those shorts in no time!
Let us know how you like Pilates. I've actually been kind of curious but haven't had the nerve to spend the money. Plus for some reason I feel more self conscious exercising at home than at the gym. I hear it's a good program though.
You're less than a month away from your trip. How exciting! Is this your first Disney Cruise? You're going to have a great time and look great in your vacation pictures. Talk to you soon!:D

Wow Meme,
I didn't realize how close you were to your trip. It won't be long now. You must be so excited! My DS and his family are going to Disney in November, but we're not going this year. We had a big cruise earlier this year.
We used Tiffany on our last visit. They were great. Did you get the coupon off their website?
Keep up the good work. Let us know how the pilates tape is. I won't even take my WATP tape out of the wrapper until it's too cold to walk/bike outside. I usually hate those things but I'm willing to give it a try.

Wow, made it through. Snack last night was sf lemon jello w/choc wh cr. Finally flovors that went pretty well together.
Got up to do the pilates. Has cardio, only did 15 min:mad: Ds woke up and had to change the channel to nickelodeon. The workout was interval training w/ hand weights, which I like. the cardio moves were walking w/ a few aerobic steps added. I don't have enough room in my lr even with my coffee table moved. I'm busy with work tonight so I'll try again tomorrow.
B-egg wh, cr ch & lox, low carb ketchup
S-low carb roll
L-steak salad
This is our first disney cruise and our ds 1st trip to the world, there will be many more:Pinkbounc So excited and getting anxious by the day. Glad to hear Tiffany is good to use. We leave on dh's b-day so it will be a great family trip. I'm planning to watch my carbs but still have some treats. And all that walking must count, right???
Also thinking about the wdw marathon. I've always wanted to do a marathon and this is half a marathon and at the happiest place on earth, so why not, right??? I'll have to convince my dh and a friend or 2, any one in?
DoeWDW
09-11-2003, 05:43 PM
MeMe, your SF jello sounds....interesting? Did you eat lemon SF jello and chocolate whipped cream together or did I read your post wrong??
Your Pilates sounds like a good workout! Let me know how you like it. Sorry you got interrupted but our little ones are only little for a short time so enjoy ds!! Besides, I bet chasing and lifting a 2 yr old gets you a LOT of exercise!!
We've used Tiffany many times in the past and have always been pleased with them. It's so fun to go down the escalator at Orlando International and see all the drivers there waiting with names on cards, and then to see one with YOUR name on it!! You feel like a celebrity being whisked away! I just know you'll have a great time!
To be honest, I've been thinking about the half marathon in 2005 also. I've looked up training regimens on the net and everything! I talked to DH about it and he says I should go for it. He's toying with the idea of doing it too but he says I can go by myself if he decides not to.

Good morning, MeMe!:D It's going to be another fabulous cheat free day for you, girl! You're absolutely unstoppable!!!
Wow, the half marathon. . .when I was walking tons on the treadmill a couple of weeks ago, I was giving this some thought.
Now I'm not sure if I'd have the time to train. Do you know what it involves? It does sound like a great goal to have, though! Think of the sense of accomplishment! Also, I'm concerned about taking DD out of school again (if I go to WDW, the rest of the family has to go--they'd never hear of me going alone. Who could blame them?) but maybe we could just go down for a long weekend and she wouldn't miss much. It just gets harder for her to miss the older she gets. I do love WDW in January, though; it's almost empty! Then there's the money part; it would have to come out of our vacation budget. . .see, I have lots of thoughts and no decision!! Let me know what you find out about training, 'cause maybe that could help me make up my mind!

Made it. Looking forward to weigh in but I know I must exercise more to fit into those shorts in 3 weeks. Did I say 3 weeks? Yes we will be at the world in 3 weeks & 2 days.
YAHOO:bounce:
Yes Doreen, sf lemon jello w/choc wh cr, it was actually good. had it again last nite. I bought the chocolate flavor, cause I am a chocoholic, though not lately:p I tried it on orange, strawberry, lime and it definitely did not match. So yes lemon jello & choc. Never thought I'd be eating that either.
Oh LULU such decisions. I will look into the training. It's not till 2005. From what I read already you have to keep a 15 min mile pace, I'll check that again. It will be hard but I think it is a great challenge. I'm pretty sure my dh won't do it, he has a bad ankle.
anyhoo-
last nite d-chick wrap from wendys no wrap (dh was supposed to get me a salad & grillled sandwich, don't know how that turned into a wrap??)
s- beef snack sausages wrapped in prov ch & mustard, sf jello w/ wh cr
Today
Did part of the pilates cardio (20 min) and don't like it. Does not work for the size of my space. Also did abs, stretching.
B-egg whites, sl ch, 3 sl bacon, low carb ketchup, coffee w/cream
s- 1/2 atkins bar
No plans for the weekend so I know I'll stay on target. With the predicted rain maybe I'll get to the gym :)

Meme, if you keep doing what you're doing, I'm sure fit into those shorts! I'm excited for you and I can't wait until you get back from your cruise and tell us everything about how it went. They did a profile of the DCL on the Travel Channel a couple of weeks ago and I was very impressed. For a split second I actually considered it and even checked out prices. But I've already changed my reservations at WDW twice and I think my hubby would have a fit if I made any more changes. Oh well, maybe for my eldest son graduates from high school.

No I didn't exercise yesterday either, I walked around a flea market:rolleyes: I haven't cheated though I sure want to but I keep thinking of my trip and how I know to be healthy I must loss some of this fat(ok all this fat).
Today
B-2 egg whites, 1 sl ch, 1 can bacon, low carb ketchup, coffee w/ cream
s-1/2 atkins bar
l-crystal light, 3 sl roast beef w/ 2 sl ch
No exercise today, busy at work and feel wiped out. Will go home & eat and play with ds.

Well hello Maryellen! It's going to take a while before I get used to your real name so forgive me if I still call you Meme from time to time.
Ahem! Weren't you just telling me the other day not to worry what that #@!* scale said? Didn't I hear you say that it doesn't matter what it says, it's how your clothes fit that means the most? Did you not utter the words, " Muscle weighs more than fat?" Honey, you're doing a great job! Don't worry so much. I know you want the scale pointer to move to the left, and it will. From what I've seen in your journal, you're doing what you're supposed to. You've surpassed me in the exercise department. You should be proud of yourself. Missing one day of exercise is no reason to beat yourself up over.

You have the privilege of moving and exercising that wonderful miraculous body of yours. You have the privilege of sharing your journey with us, your circle of support. I feel your pain, Maryellen (:) ), but what everyone said (uh, including yourself  ) is true and you know it. Though the dumb scale wouldn't cooperate, you are doing a tremendous job. Whenever I look at your clippie which now reads 25 DAYS!!!, I am in awe. MeMe, that's almost a month of good behavior! That's a month of treating yourself right! Think of all the temptations that you've endured and how strong you've been! Think of how your clothes are feeling and of how much respect you have for yourself. FORGET THAT DUMB SCALE! Hi Maryellen (Meme)
Are you sure you're eating enough? Your menu sounds like you're skimping. On Atkins you should be full all the time. Maybe you should try eating a little more fats and protein. Sometimes eating a little more will cause a better weight loss.
The rainy weather really put a crimp in my exercising. In the last 5 days, I only got exercise Sunday when I did two bike rides. I'm hoping it'll be clear when I get home today.
Keep trying! With all those days cheat free, you should be losing soon.

I am still at cheat free, though I don't remember all my food so I'll post for today.
B-low carb shake, coffee w/cream
s-couple pieces chick & ch
l- spinach & feta omelette, little bit ketchup(ate out)
s- 1/2 low carb bar
Thank you all for your encouraging words - they mean sooooo much:) I need to take my own advice, but do you know how hard that is??? I 'm sure you do. After reviewing my journal I think I'll cut back on some cheese, cause I don't measure(ever) maybe it's too much. I also did not post but remember eating 2 pieces of low carb candy, the peanut cluster one & pb cup. I read on another post that this may hinder loss for some people, so no more candy (even low carb) for me!
I had a stressful day yesterday and thought about popcorn(movie theatre), icecream sundae, french fries, chocolate kisses, a biggg mac and stopped myself. I know it is emotional eating so (please forgive me) I smoked 4 cigs. Sorry. I went to bed early and feel much better today. So I plan to walk after work and have been on track.
Lulu do you mean a 5k walk? cause I know I won't be able to run 5k. I get back on the 16th so I think I'd be able to. Where, what time, cost? can I push my son or should I leave him home?

You're doing great avoiding those nasty foods!! You and I are in the same boat - trying to avoid Ben, Jerry and anyone else associated with nasty food like Orville Reddenbacher, Ronald McDonald, etc! ;)
Thanks for the advice about not using candles during a power outage! To be honest, I'd forgotten about that. I only have jar candles but it pays to be extra careful!
I hope things settle down for you and the stress goes away! You're doing just fine!

09-18-2003, 09:08 AM
Geez, MeMe, talk about stress. . .if you're working at the Red Cross and a hurricane is on the way, you're surrounded with stress, aren't you? I hope that today's an easier day. Somehow, I bet it isn't. . .
You're so strong--avoiding all that yukky, bad food. Still, and you know what I'm going to say, you gotta watch those cigs. Can you find something else that'll do the trick? What about gum chewing? Buy one of those big packs and chew 6 sticks at a time!:p Or maybe a tall glass of your favorite lo-cal beverage?
How about crocheting?:p Hey, don't laugh, I can crochet one mean afghan when I'm in the mood, let me tell you! I'm not trying to be critical here, I just care about your health.:( OK, from this moment on, you can be completely honest about the number of cigs you smoke and I won't say one more word. Honest. REALLY!
OK, so the 5K is a walk/run; I think it's a race, though I have no personal aspirations of doing anything more than finishing! (You, though, could probably go for it!) It's called the Crooked Billet Run
(even though there's a walk, too) and it's going to be 10/18 at the new Warminster Community Park off of Street Road. It's part of a whole day of festivities to open the park (Justin Guarini from American Idol is going to entertain later in the day). I think the cost is $12 if you register that a.m., $10 if you pre-register. I'll find out more and let you know. Do you really think you'll be up for it, though, after just getting back from your trip?
I'm also going to look into planning one of these walk-at-your-own-pace volksmarch walks that Doreen was mentioning. I'll
research those events and get back to you about that, too.
I've never done anything like these events so I don't know if the stroller would work or not. As far as I'm concerned, I think it would be fun to bring Parker, but you know best. You are, after all, our track-jock-in-residence! ;)
Well, MeMe, keep doing what you're doing. All your hard work is going to pay off. You're going to be looking mighty fine on Castaway Cay:smooth:

I think I am at cheat free 29, though I question what does cheat free mean? is it our individual plan, is there a standard? Any hoo. I went out to friendlys and boy I thought about cheat free allday. I was going to order the nachos & then a huge sundae, thank goodness the waitress took so long. I ordered a steak salad and ate about 1/2 the lettuce and all the steak pieces (not much for the $$), I also ate 3 pieces of buffalo chicken tendersw/ bl ch, it had breading:( but the worst part was- no not a sundae- but a piece of my ds grilled cheese, less than 1 sl bread. So at first I thought oh I cheated but now when I researched the carbs in 1 sl white bread it's 14, I can't find breading so let's say 7. Total for dinner is over the 20 but I'm not on induction, I just try to keep it low. Did I cheat? am I trying to convince myself I didn't? What do you wishers think???? if I must I'll start back at 0.
My week was long, stress over the hurricane and 1 of my staff is in the hospital and another staff has issues. AHHH! TGIS ;)
I exercised 3x this week so far. I want to get out today & walk, it is so nice. I wish I had Doe's pedometer. Weigh in tomorrow, my fingers are crossed. Those shorts are over the hips now but can't zip them yet. After my ds those abs below the waist are not the same:p

Gee, I go missing for awhile and I come back to find out Meme isn't your real name???
LOL
I just wanted to stop in and say hi...I've read back to the last time I posted on your journal...I don't know where the time is going...I have a new slogan though, "time flies when your fiance is out of work!"
You've had some ups and downs but you have stayed the course and you're doing GREAT!!! I have a pair of shorts that are at about the same stage...originally, I couldn't pull them up over my hips though, and now I can almost button them (and I know that it won't be long before we can lie down and zip 'em! LOL)
I don't know what to tell you about defining cheating...I wouldn't beat yourself up about it though! I guess carbs can come in whatever form you choose and if you stay under or near your target, then what difference does it make? I can't even bring myself to put something like breading or bread near my mouth, for that I'm grateful because I would beat myself up (despite my own advice!). If a bite or two is what it takes to satisfy your urge, then it's great and you should just move on. For me, it wouldn't help me and I'd want more, so I don't touch it. We had pork rinds on our chicken the other night and DH2B was very doubtful about how it would be...we both loved it! Gosh, they smelled so nasty in the bag when I was crushing them up...but yum! I'm going to try the recipe for mozzarella sticks soon! :)
Keep your star and move on...now if you have a hot fudge sundae, I'm going to put my foot down and insist that you cheated, so don't!
And stop smoking!!! You're getting so much healthier eating the way you are...and then you put those toxins in...so stoppit! (I know, easy for me to say!) Heck, I'd rather you have a hot fudge sundae right now! ;)
Anyway, you're doing great and you're going to LOVE the cruise and yeah, you will want to then do a 7 night! That's the first thing I said after I went on the 4 night (back when they didn't have a 7 night), I put on the comment card that they need a 7 night cruise. They listened to me...go figure! :)
Have a great weekend, MaryEllen!

MeMe, I don't think a small piece of a grilled cheese, as long as you researched the carb count, should be counted as a cheat. I try to stay under 60 carbs per day so any day that I go over 60 cabs I'll count as a cheat. If I can eat a half cup of ice cream and fit it into those 60 grams of carbs, I'm not gonna give up my cheat free clippie. Now, if I started choosing ice cream every day over nutritional food, I'd have to rethink that.
My opinion is that you should keep your clippie just the way it is and not start over! Don't know if my opinion counts for anything :p but there it is!
You're right on track, sweetie, in spite of all that stress! You should be very proud of you!!
If we get together for any volksmarches, we can make sure we pick one that is stroller-friendly - I'd love to meet you and your little one! The volksmarch organizers use a trail-rating system that will let us know if the trail is stroller-friendly and since there's no time limit we truly can stroll.
Hope your weekend is going well!

09-20-2003, 03:42 PM
Hey, MeMe. If you dare touch that clippie, I'm going to have to come over and get tough with you! You've been exercising and you passed on an ice cream sundae. . . c'mon, girl, you're doing GREAT!
This journey isn't going to be easy, and we need to stop and reflect on the successes along the way to keep things in perspective. Think of those skinny jeans. . .think of that clippie. . .think of all the good choices you make EVERY day in the midst of job-, wife-, and mommy-stress. You're creating a new way of living for yourself; you're amazing!:Pinkbounc
Seems like the three of us are all psyched for a walk, we've just got to find the right place. Doreen, how about one of those year 'round walks. . .do you know of any centrally located off hand?
I'm off to clean up for my in-laws' visit tomorrow. Also have to get in my training walk.
Talk to you soon, Maryellen, and keep up the terrific work.

I think cheating is eating desserts, sugar, etc. while on Atkins. If you keep within your regular carb count, it should be anything goes! Whipped cream is O.K., though, and that's like a dessert. So go figure!
If you guys would like a nice walk, there's a 5K walk for Alzheimer's in Fairmount Park on October 12, a Sunday. I've been doing it for the last 5 years or so and it's a beautiful, relaxing walk. You can set any pace you'd like. People are there with strollers, wheelchairs, dogs, etc. Lots of parking and very safe.
They also give you a lot of nice goodies like Bucks County Coffee Company coffee and bagels for breakfast (I know, no bagels for the Atkins people), lots of bottled water, and lunch and goodie bags at the end. TV personalities are there too. There is no registration fee. They'd just like you to bring a few checks for donations to Alzheimers. If anyone's interested, registration is online.
Meme, good luck with your weigh in. You should do very well.

Meme,
1 pound! That's better than nothing.
I lost about 1/2 lb last week. I'm almost at the stall stage. But, I attended my daughter's bachelorette party last night (kind of informal...stops at Chickie & Pete's and and Irish pub). Had 3 glasses of white wine at the first stop along with some chicken cutlets with honey mustard sauce. There wasn't much of a selection if you don't eat seafood like me.
I know how hard it is sometimes when you have to attend functions and don't have much of a choice on your food choices. You and I will just have to start again this week on being VERY good!
I'm glad to see that you were riding your bike. I plan to do that today.

Maryellen, you did just fine! You chose to enjoy your evening out and it sounds like it was a lot of fun!! Yes, I agree your clippie should go back to 1 now, but please modify the number in it to "01" instead of just "1". We can't see your star until you do!
The great thing is, we will never be cheat free forever! We all have to accept that. We can choose to eat off plan whenever we want, as long as we understand the consequences. I think the key is that we control our food choices, instead of letting our food choices control us! Now, if you are choosing to go off plan every 3 days.....well then we may have to get tough with you!
As far as a walk - I'm free on Oct. 25th. There's a lovely 10k (6.2 miles) walk in Doylestown that looks very stroller friendly and has cool stuff to see. My DH loves castles and there are 2 on this walk!! It's rated a 1 so it's flat.
The walk in Philly on the 12th won't work for me - but I'm glad we're all looking at possibilities. Walking with my new WISH friends sounds like such a great time!!
Congrats on being 1 pound down!! :bounce:
We just keep getting lighter and lighter, don't we!!
Edit: I reread this and realized I goofed! A 10k walk is 6.2 miles, not 3.1, so I changed it in the above message. OOPS!!

Hey, MeMe, I'm doing the One Pound Happy Dance for you!:Pinkbounc You didn't put it on all at once, you can't take it off all at once. . .it's a cruel--but true--fact of nature!
Let's talk about your decision to go off plan. . .I really hesitate to call it a cheat. Like Doreen said, this was a choice you made and it sounds like you were totally in control and enjoying that decision. Having made that yummy decision ( I wouldn't have minded being at the table with you!:p ), you accepted the consequence of starting over again at Day One. Hey, it's not like you're going to give up eating your favorite foods for the rest of your life!!!!! We're blessed with lots of pleasurable, wonderful foods and it's OK to enjoy them, but I think all of my WISH friends would agree that we all have a history (to one degree or another) of NOT making good food decisions, and uh, maybe taking a little TOO much pleasure in our food! What you did, to me, showed good judgment regarding when to indulge. The trick, it would seem to me, is to have the ability to go back ON PLAN and make that the rule, rather than the exception. For me personally, to be able to do that will be a sweet victory indeed!
I believe that you'll be back on plan tomorrow morning because I know the level of commitment you have to healthy living. Why, you made it over four weeks on your program!! What an accomplishment! So, I'm glad you had some fun and good stuff, but now, Maryellen, it's time to get back in the game. ;)
Have a good night,
Erin

Well said, Erin. Maryellen, it's ok that you allowed yourself that one simple pleasure. I think to indulge every once in a while is ok, it's the going off the deep end and binging for days on end that will cause more of a setback. You are committed and tomorrow is a new day.
I had a difficult day today and served my husband a huge chunk of chocolate cake and I wanted a piece for myself so bad! Instead, I had my sugar free jello and packed on the whipped cream. It was definitely more cream than I was supposed to have and I did cheat, but I didn't go all the way, know what I mean? But another day I may make the conscious decision to go all the way but will remember that my indulgence will not be the norm for me and that the next day I must get back on track.
So be proud of yourself Maryellen, because you're still in the game!:D

Hi MeMe!! I hope all is going well for you! I'm thinking of you and hoping you're back on track now. If not, I'm sure you'll get it together real soon.
You've got that lovely vacation coming up and if you're like me, you're all stressed out about getting ready for it. There are always a million little details and things to remember and stuff to pack, etc. etc. Try to be good to yourself!!

I'm on day 3 again:p
Eating well. Trying to avoid the bars & shakes to see if it causes a big change in loss. I have less than 2 weeks and still can't zip those shorts. Oh yeah I could lay on the bed or floor (remember those days:p ) but I'd like to be able to breathe.
Isn't funny about the 1 lb at a time?? You think we'd be ecstatic about losing weight but 1 just doesn't seem like enough. We put so much energy into eating right and adding exercise that we want to see at least a 2 lb per week loss if not 3 or 4. We should be happy if we don't gain but we are so hard on ourselves. And like LULU said we didn't put it on all at once. It just kind of crept up on us:
I am so busy and getting frantic about the vaca, what to wear? what to pack? do we have all our docs? how much $$$ to bring? there are so many details, help help help!
My dh had to have his passport renewed so we expressed that and pray it will be back next week. Then we notice his license will expire the day after we fly and of course it could take up to 10 days to receive the picture card. I know all will work out but the stress is enough to drive one to a BIG MAC ATTACK:p
Haven't had a chance to exercise but I'm on track and doing abs for all that lower flab. Need a dessert other than sf jello, thoughts?

Well, MeMe, since you asked. . .you could always try a skinny cow!:p The Silhouette Company manufactures my cows and I read on their website (they send me coupon offers;) ) that they're coming out with some kind of lo-carb option. When I see it in the store, I'll let you know.
I know what you mean about the vacation stress. It's getting to me, too. I just remembered today that I have to get my neighbor to look after the mail. I have the Westie Nanny taking care of the dog (that's really what she calls herself) and DD's girlfriend is taking care of the chinchilla. Now if I could find someone out there to take care of the hermit crab. . .any takers? I'll ship it!;)
Glad you're doing so well, MeMe. Keep it up.

My favorite is fresh strawberries with real whipped cream - YUM!!
Now that it's getting cooler, maybe I'll make a batch of low-carb peanut butter cookies. I'll have to dig out the recipe and I'll let you know if they turn out good. As I recall, even my kids ate them up last year!
Vacation will be here before you know it, Maryellen. Somehow, everything that HAS to get done, will get done and you'll be sailing away in no time at all! Ahhhh.....sounds relaxing just thinking about it!!

I love exercising in the morning:Pinkbounc
Well when I started atkins back in March, I had a list of my measurements from 9/98. I can say I am there except for 2 on my hips. These hips were made for babies:p So though my STUPID scale isn't where I want it, I have made a nice change. Dh likes it;)
hey Lulu - let me know when you see that lc skinny cow, I really want one. YUM! Sorry but my cat would eat your crab in a second. And thanks for reminding me, I need to firm up those plans.
Thanks Doe-Doe - I'm going to get some strawberries on next shopping day.

Hi Maryellen! Just stopped in to say a quick hello and that I've been thinking of all of my WISH friends.
You might want to try peaches, cantaloupe or honeydew melon as a dessert. Actually, you could make yourself a fruit salad topped with whipped cream and nuts. Hey, why didn't I think of that before?
I'm keeping it short tonight, but I'll try to pop in tomorrow. Good night!:o

Good morning, MeMe! Are you ready for the weekend? I'm going to try to get most of our packing done, the docs filled out, etc. , so that I can breathe easier Mon.-Thurs. It's hard to believe that our vacations are almost here!
You're doing so well on your program. It sounds like you're seeing the results in your measurements--uh, and your husband is seeing them, too!;) I never wanted to take my measurements, but after reading that you and Doreen can see the changes, it's inspired me. Now, if I'd just write them down. . .
I haven't really figured out a plan for healthy living on a vacation yet. Originally I was totally sold on the idea that I was just going to live it up and eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, but now I'm not too sure. I don't want to gain too much weight--it's too hard to lose! I don't want to be too strict either, because that's unrealistic and I'll just be beating myself up for no good reason if I choose to indulge. Hmmmmm. Sometimes I think too much, but I think this is worth a strategy of some sort. Maybe limiting desserts or alcohol? Aside from that pina colada, I probably won't be having much to drink. . .that could save some calories.
I talked to a dear friend in Michigan about joining me for the half-marathon, but I couldn't really tell what she thought. I know she likes to walk and I know that she thinks it would be fun, but I don't know if she'll have the time or energy to commit to something so big. I haven't told my mom--she will definitely think I've gone over the deep end!:p You should get your name on the list, MeMe, and fill out the survey about rooms, tickets, etc.
Well, guess I'd better straighten up the house before I go into work later.
Take care,
Erin

MeMe, I know what you mean about exercising in the morning! I always feel so energetic when I've done my WATP workout before work. It's still hard to pry myself out from under the covers, though! :p
WOW - I'm so thrilled about your measurements!! Isn't it neat to need less and less of that tape measure??? Don't worry about the hips - eventually you'll lose more there too. All your hard work is paying off!!
Take good care of yourself!!

I'm ready for the weekend:Pinkbounc I do have a b-day party tomorrow so I'll have to be very focused if they have chocolate cake. I'm going to try to bring something low carb. I have to check out the recipes.
s-low carb cracker (1) w/ feta ch, spread
d-chick & broc stir fry w/ salsa & sc, sm salad
s-sf jello w/ wc
WATP this am
b-2 egg wh, 1 sl pr, 1 sl atkins br, low carb ket
s- pep slices
l- slices chick br & sh ch
Have not had any bars or shakes or candy this week. Will let you know if made a true difference.
I do literally roll out of that bed Doreen, it is the only way. So when I hit the floor I'm wide awake:p
Lulu - I think I did sign up, I know I completed the survey. I am so excited and don't care what anyone else thinks. I am doing that marathon come H-LL or high water;)
I also will begin to pack tomorrow. I just got my dh's b-day gift in the mail. I'm having him do the race car experience on our last day. He already knows but I got him a t-shirt too that he doesn't know about. When he's into his racing stuff he is soooo happy which of course makes me happy. Ahh the anticipation is starting to kick-in, how bout you? And for my trip I will be eating a large variety of items but will be sure to only eat when hungry.
lulu201
09-26-2003, 10:10 PM
MeMe, what race care experience do you mean? Test Track? Oh, that's fun!:p I've been doing some birthday planning, too, but mostly for DD. DH and I have said that this trip is pretty much it for our birthdays, but I do remember him saying something about buying me an anklet at a jewelry store in Nassau. . .I'll be sure to remind him about that!;) I want to pick up some birthday decorations to put on our cabin door--will try to do that tomorrow.
Is your husband going to wear a jacket at dinner at Triton's? DH doesn't really want to pack one--I think he's going to try to get away with a dress shirt and a tie. Fine with me.
I've started thinking about what I'll be doing a week from now, like "next Friday night at this time we'll be at the Halloween Party." I want to check the weather channel on-line, too, and see what kind of weather they're predicting for us. Hopefully it'll be dry.
DH says that I should not worry at all about what I'll eat. . .still thinking about that one!
And as far as our other plans go. . .yep, MeMe, it's the WDW half-marathon or bust! We'll have to put new countdown counters up when we get back!;)
Have a good time at the birthday party tomorrow. Be careful--you want to save those goodies for Palo!

Wahoo! 3 lbs - can't believe it. Tomorrow is weigh day but was at my moms and I use her scale. I didn't have any bars or shakes this week so maybe they were causing a slow down.
yesterday
d-chick wings, bl ch, celery, chick w/ch (applebees)
s-sf jello
today
b-mock danish coffee w/cr
l-8 little meaballs w/ sauce (church lunch)
I also am thinking where I'll be next week. Today I'll begin to pack, yeah!
The race car exp is at the (real) race track. It's part of the Richrd Petty driving school. He's doing the 4 hr experience, so I don't know if we'll go with him or not. I didn't think about the b-day decorations, I'm asking the hotel for some balloons.

Geez, do I feel kind of dumb; I didn't know there was a REAL racetrack! It sounds like an awesome experience. My husband would LOVE something like that. . .maybe when we go in Jan. 2005 I could surprise him???
Today I ran around the mall with my daughter and then did some shopping of my own, trying to pick up little odds and ends to make things extra special--little snacks, the birthday decorations, little gifts, etc. I also found a cute little lint brush--I love all the miniature travel size things! Oh, and guess what else I bought? A sleep machine! My DH, who is the sweetest thing in the world, snores like a roaring lion!!! The little unit is portable so that I can bring it along when we travel. I love it! Lots of sweet dreams for me tonight!:o

MeMe, thanks for coming to my defense and beating up my scale for me. That nasty thing deserved it! This morning I weighed in a pound less; rings fit better. I'm going to weigh-in officially again on Thursday morning before we leave for my in-laws (we're leaving from their house Fri. a.m.), so I hope I'm wearing my 10 lb. clippie then.
I'm going totally nuts here what with work and last minute things to do. Last night was Back to School Night (didn't get home 'til 9:30), tonight is the school's Star Party--watching the night skies from telescopes on the football field (won't get home from that until 9:30), and tomorrow night I work 'til 8. Can't make it tomorrow. Sorry girls. Just too busy and ds has a cold, want to be a good mom and will most liely stay inside. I have been sooo busy. Work, housework, the mail (yikes), getting my warm clothes out, my house is a disaster zone. But I wouldn't change a thing. the 11 nights in with disney were great. The first week had some challenges at the parks, way toooo crowded. I did enjoy the Port Orleans but next time i may have to splurge on a resort with the monorail, those buses were packed. The Magic Kingdom was the best yet the worst, after the parade the streets were gridlocked with people trying to leave, it was a little scary. We loved MNSSHP and would highly recommend. We enjoyed Chef Mickeys the best for character dinners. i've saved the best for last, THE CRUISE. Ahhh the luxury, fantastic shows, awesome food, the best customer service, castaway cay, I had to book another. I will be skipping the parks and doing the cruises. There are small lines to see the characters but nothing compared to the parks and it was relaxing as well as fun. I'm going to try to do a trip report with more info. I never got to meet up with anyone from the boards, oh 1 young girl (tessa) on the ship, I saw her the first day and that was it.. It's hard to know who to look for, even if they are wearing lime green. Maybe with the new shirts it will be better.
Anyway my diet plan went out the window though my clothes are fitting great so I don't think I gained alot. My dh gained 12 lbs, yes 12 however he can afford to. he had 4 desserts on our last night. I have not had a chance to exercise since I've been home but will try next week. I have started atkins again as of Monday. I now have a goal to lose at least 10 by 11/27, oh my my 20 year high school reunion - yikes:rolleyes:
I've missed you all and am glad to back, hopefully we can meet up another time. And Lulu I am still aiming for the 1/2 marathon in 1/2005 but I need to start doing the training and my mom may do it. Could you please tell me where that web site is again? I plan to check up on all of you this weekend

I'm on my way home and dinner will be on the plan. I'm thinking of tossing all that halloween candy, it is so tempting. Actually I think I've had at least 1 mini piece each day if not more. Arghh. Chocolate is my demon. Actually the Spa at the Hotel Hershey does all sorts of interesting things with chocolate - facials, full body wraps, etc. I live 20 minutes away but have never gone there. Maybe that should be my reward when I hit goal - hmmm, I hear they leave chocolate candy laying around so maybe I should wait until I'm UNDER my goal.... Anyone care to join me????
I'm glad to hear you've recovered from vacation and the scales were kind. Are you ready to get back to business?? It sounds like you're working toward getting back in the groove. I've been slouching on my exercise lately too - thanks for the reminder to ease myself back into it.
Onward and downward, MeMe! :sunny:

Hey, MeMe, I'm running like crazy here, but I wanted to leave this website with you: www.thewalkingsite.com. Go there and look around for training info--they have the beginners walk, half-marathon, and full marathon training. I'll check in with you again later. Have a great day and keep treating yourself right!princess:

Still here, but very busy. Making progress but again at 3 cheat free days. Each Saturday seems to be a challenge.
Checked measurements and they are now the same as 1998 - that was my first mini goal- YEAH, I did it. And IT feels good::yes::
I have yet to get into the exercise groove, what's wrong with me? I can't seem to drag myself out of bed in the morning, probably because I don't go to bed early enough. Someone needs to kick my butt into gear:moped:
Well what are my new goals, uhmmm.....
1. Skinny jeans (still not able to zip-maybe if I lay on the floor but I won't be able to get up:p )
2. Dress for high school reunion - hip, sleek yet sexy
3. Cheat free till Thanksgiving staying at about 20 gm carbs
4. Exercise 4 days/week - get to be early!!!
5. Take vitamins each day, have them all in the cabinet need to put out on counter.
6. Enjoy life:)

Hey, MeMe!:wave2: Great to have you around! Did I hear you say that you're going to get up and exercise tomorrow? Well, you might as well, 'cause you're gonna hear me all the way in Newtown telling you to get your butt out of bed and walk the walk!!!! Only said in love, of course, only said in love.:teeth:
Have a good day tomorrow. Two weeks until Thanksgiving. . .I'm going to try to match your challenge and stay cheat-free 'til then, too. It's not going to be easy, though, I'm almost in the PMS Danger Zone. (Hide your cookies--I can't guarantee their safety! )
Off to visit Doreen, update my journal, and hit the sack.

You sound like you are back on track! You and Erin are leaving me in the dust so I'm gonna have to get in gear and join you all. I'll take the cheat-free til Thanksgiving challenge too, starting today! We can do it together!
Now, did you exercise today?? Even in Lancaster county I could hear Erin calling you!! Time to start moving again!!

Sorry the bed was too comfy this am. Actually I got home after 9 last night and didn't hit the sack till 11. Toooo tired to move at 5:30 am:rolleyes:
Still on track with atkins, b-coffeew/ cream & 1 sl cheese
s- atkins morning bar
l-dried beef & cc
What should I have for dinner???? My dh is driving me crazy cause he is redoing our parts of our kitchen and everyday it is a mess. I can't bear to be in there right now. So maybe I should do takeout. HMMM no pizza but could stop at the grocery takeout, chicken, salad bar.
I must stay cheat free till turkey day and that candy has been calling my name so I am getting rid of it tomorrow. Willpower only goes so far with chocolate:p
Pictures are not my thing though I like to take them. I just never feel that I look my best. We'll see.

Sounds like you're walking that low-carb walk. Keep it up. Dump that nasty chocolate. You know it's only poison in a velvety, yummy wrapper.

What is wrong with me??? I just can not seem to get back on track. I've started over again, 2 days cheat free. Ahhh!
I went to NY on sunday and I won't tell you what I ate. Then Monday I had a bagel and Tuesday I ate french bread. And I have not exercised, yikes my thighs are showing so much cellulite :scared: It truly is a scary sight!
Well my reunion is a week from Saturday and I don't know what to wear, definitely covering up the hip area. I did get a new hairdo so I'm happy about that.
I need motivation where can I get some?? And I know I didn't make my turkey challenge:guilty:

First of all, stop beating yourself up! If you allow guilt to get to you, you won't be able to move ahead. Just accept the fact that you ate what you felt like a few times and just leave it at that. Just keep looking forward and start anew. I've been in your position before, and thinking about that thing that I shouldn't have eaten, or that I haven't exercised just makes me feel so crappy. It's just not productive and doesn't serve a purpose IMHO. Give yourself credit for what you've been able to accomplish so far! Look at all of the exercise you've been doing. I'm embarassed to admit it, but I haven't exercised in two months. I just don't have time, that's all there is to it. I'm working long hours Mon.-Fri. and 6 hours on Saturday. I have a family and need to make sure their needs are met and that I spend as much time with them as possible, in addition to my household responsibilities. I just have to do what I can. My suggestion is to plan ahead. Go to the market and stock up on all of the things that you know you can eat. If you make sure that you have the right foods around, you're more likely to stay on track. It's been my experience that if I come home from a long day at work and I'm exhausted and don't want to cook but don't have easy-to-prepare food on hand, I'm more likely to eat what I shouldn't. I also always make sure that I have plenty of "sweets" around for when I get the urge for dessert, like Atkins candy, ice cream, sugar free jello, whipped cream, strawberries, you get the idea. I've learned so much from all of you and have had a few moments of self-doubt. I don't know if you remember this but, a couple of months ago I posted on my journal that I had gone to a baby shower at this barbeque restaurant and pretty much ate what I wanted, including a hunk of cake. I tried remain positive about the whole thing and my WISH friends were so encouraging and tried me feel ok about it. But deep down inside I felt soooo guilty, but I didn't let it show. You ladies encouraged me and I eventually got over it. Just understand that we all struggle from time to time and feel bad about ourselves, but as you or Erin or Doreen have said (can't exactly remember who said it first) onward and downward!

 for you, MeMe-girl. It's always good to have you around.
Let's hear it for your cheat free days! Yay!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc That's a bounce a day!
MeMe, let's not forget that this healthy living stuff is hard. ::yes:: You know you have to make it a priority to care for yourself every day and all, but some days--or weeks--are just harder than others. You went on your terrific trip and came home to Halloween and all the holidays! This is a tough time of year to stay focused and on top of things, so, as Lisa said, don't beat yourself up. There's nothing wrong with you! You weren't thinking you'd never eat a bagel again were you? So, you indulged, now figure out what it is you want the most out of life's big picture.
Here's how I look at it. When I'm not on plan, I certainly
like eating all the foods I don't usually allow myself, but I don't really like how I feel about myself. I know I'm not treating myself in a healthy way (even though those poisonous tootsie rolls are yummy going down!). On the other hand, while I may be somewhat frustrated when I choose not to indulge my hard pretzel cravings, I can look myself--and the scale--in the eye the next morning with no fear or self-criticism.
One thing you can't overlook, MeMe, is the power of the carbs. Don't forget that the more you eat, the more you want, and the more you want, the more. . .you see the cycle here. This feeling of "what's wrong with me" really has nothing to do with you (hey, isn't this part of your Atkins bible or something??), it's the chemical effect of those carbs pulling you down!
OK, it's time for the song.
Remember, MeMe,
YOU ARE STRONG. . .YOU ARE INVINCIBLE. . .YOU ARE WOMAN!!!!
You can beat those empty carbs, Princess MeMe!princess: Go forward into another CHEAT FREE DAY!!!!!

I've been thinking of all of ou and really have not had a minute to join the group. I have not been a faithful exerciser or atkins follower. I know I've gained a few but still in the negatives. So I woke up at 2 am thinking I need to get back to that great place. Which is here with all you motivators:D
I am determined to get back in the groove. Winter is soooo hard fo rme. I hate the cole and the snow and the ice and the coats and the boots and the gloves and blah blah blah. Give me sun:sunny:
So I start cheat free tomorrow and I know I can do it. And I will exercise. I know it works, I just have to do it. Roll out of bed 5:30 and WATP, follow the atkins, which is a wonderful plan for me and I know the next 20 lbs will go away.
Thank you Karen, Erin and Doreen. Your words are so encouraging. I see you are all doing fantastic. Way to go! I will check out your journals now. I'm still thinking of the 1/2 marathon and I see Erin & Doreen are listed which encourages me more to sign up.
I've been thinking about Paris and the beach and I have another disney cruise booked so I'm not sure how to fit in another trip. People may think I don't have a job and I 'm just a jet-setter living the high life, Oh how I wish.
Well I so enjoy being able to share and look forward to each day continuing this journal. I still have those skinny jeans staring at me, begging me to put them on and celebrate. How much longer will she be, they keep asking?

I could see that you posted to my journal and I'm anxious to go see what you wrote. Again, welcome back! I'm still doing Atkins and will be right there with you. If I don't check in with you tomorrow, I definitely will on Monday, still official weigh in for me. Take care!:D

hey girls thanks for the kind words:)
I definitely wish to walk. Did you register already? I'll check it out. I could use a grand adventure and get some great exercise:p
My dh made waffles for me this am, I felt so bad telling him I really couldn't eat them. So I passed my first temptation, yeah!
b- 2 eggs, 1 ch, 1 pork roll, coffee & milk (need to get creamer)
l- chinese broccoli & sm bit of boneless ribs, coffee & cream
s- 1 beef stick
d- 2 burgers, ch, mayo, hot peps & sald w/caesar dressing
water all day
I made day one and am determined now to see that scale go down. I love how you all have weigh in on Monday, great idea to keep the weekend in check, that has been a hugh (fatty) problem for me. I will change my weigh in. I am apprehensive to start tomorrow so maybe next week.

Hmmm, you're getting a treadie now, are you? Don't you be thinking that you're going to leave me in the dust, Miss Track Queen. I may be 42, but I'm one serious jock athlete!:p
:rotfl: Sorry, sometimes I just crack myself up! Serious jock athlete!!!! :p That's too funny.

lulu201
01-26-2004, 09:30 PM
MeMe, about the clippie bear. . .we kind of had a big talk about what the bear could mean, and what we seemed to decide is that the Cheat Free Star Challenge--you know where you try to go 100 days--that is for CONSECUTIVE cheat free days. The BEAR clippie, on the other hand is a little more flexible. You might have noticed that Doreen and I both have in our siggie a little line about "#__ of healthy living days in January" or something like that. That enables us to recognize the good days we've had without always having to be perfect. It all started with our Cheat Free January Challenge, which was easier said than done. Even people who were doing fantastic had plans for WDW or other events and knew it wasn't realistic that they'd be "cheat free" in those circumstances, yet they wanted to try to do their best on the days around that vacation. Others of us just wanted to do the best we could for the long haul, so we made up our own little bear rules. If you want it to be consecutive for your own usage, go for it. If not, you can make up your own rules, too!
So there you have it, girlie; the bear laws have been clarified.
Have a good night and good luck on Tuesday!

Thanks Lisa, I needed a kick! Unfortunately I got kicked by the system today. Downsized, ugly word:( if I wanted to be down it would be only in my clothes size! No money so someone had to go. I think it was the boss or me so she picked me:mad:
I haven't not had a job forever probably over 20 years. No what???? Well I was in the office at 8:30 and out by 10, unbelievable. The worst part is how they made me feel like I didn't do a good job for over 12 years ofcourse they said it had nothing to do with job performance, it stinks! I was scheduled next week for an annual work performance review 12 years and all I got was a kick in the as- and turn in your keys:mad:
I know I'll be fine. When a door closes lots of windows open. So I'll let the cool breeze liven up my life for awhile and then decide where my futures lies. I know something was to happen just not this way. My employees (3) want to meet for lunch tomorrow, yes or no. I think I'll go but stear clear about the company conversation, yes?
Anyway I hit the gym for the first time in months. 2 miles on treadmill and 30 min on bike. Trying to decide if I should concentrate on the distance or the time for walking.
I will be having margaritas tonight- probably more than one:wave2:

Here's a  for you! I hope you got some kind of severance pay to tide you over for a while! You're right, though - when one door closes, another one opens, and often it's BETTER!

Aww, geez, MeMe, what a stinky situation. ::yes:: I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. I do have to say, though, I was impressed with the part about going to the gym. I think I would've gone right to the margaritas myself.
Here's a  for you. Better days are ahead, I'm sure.
Oh, and while kicking scales are my specialty, I could branch out into other things. . .or people. . .if you need me to. Just let me know, girlfriend.

I appreciate you words:)
My feelings range from high to medium, not low. I would say that is a great sign of things to come. I'm trying to take it easy and get settled in my life before I make any decisions.
Honestly I've had a couple of squares of dark chocolate with real peanu butter:tongue: And I had 2 margaritas(BIG) and chips w/salsa. The rest of my menus are on target so I feel good about that.
My dh has been the best. His words and actions keep me strong. I'm focusing on enjoying my soon to be 3 ds. His spirit also makes me strong.
I believe there are plans for me and I'll wait to experience them. And in that time I will stay low carb and exercise until I can wear those skinny jeans with pride::yes::

Hi Meme, sorry to hear about your job. You seem to be taking things in stride though. Maybe this is a chance for you to take a breather and spend some extra time with your son.
You're doing well with staying on plan, keep it up. Do you still weigh in on Monday? If so, I'll meet you at the scale day after tomorrow. Good night!:)

Well today is my son's 3rd birthday and I already shared a milkshake and a sundae (wow what a lunch:p ) Plan is to have cake after dinner boy I'm glad I did watp this am.
Thanks for checking in girls, you make life much happier:wave2:
My plans now after 1 week of confusion are to stay home and be a mom and a wife, the new term is a domestic goddessprincess:
I registered with unemployment today and will sign over my rights so I can get a severance package. I can afford to sit back and enjoy for a while however my husband wants my assistance with his business - we are still in negotiations;) So my future will hopefully include another child(now I have time for sex:blush:) and a new business relationship with my dh. I still feel strange, many mixed emotions. But I know time is on my side and everything happens for a reason.
I promise to be back on the plan soon and there will not be any excuse about exercise!

Hi Meme! Hey, thanks for stopping by my journal. I wanted to anwswer your question about the diet orange cream soda. It's called Stewart's and it's only sold in bottles. Don't know what grocery stores you have in your neck of the woods and I actually don't even know where they sell them near my home either since I get them at work. They're really good though, and they have other flavors. You'd almost swear they're not diet.
You're doing very well staying on plan Meme. In answer to your scale question, no I don't see any relief in sight with the obsession. It's like I just have to know! Oh well, I guess there are worse things to be addicted to. Have a good evening!:D

2. Cardio exercise 5 days per week
3. Stretch & abs 6 days per week

MeMe, your post yesterday sounded so bright and sunny! Amanda started the monthly goal craze and it has really caught on with many of us around here. I hope you find it helpful to you!
Sometimes I think being home all day makes it HARDER to get things done. I see that whole day stretched out in front of me and then before I know it, it's gone! I'm sure you'll get into a routine that will make it easier for you.
How did you do with your March goals yesterday?

Can't believe it has been 3 weeks since I lasted posted. How did I let that happen. I have not been faithful to my goals and have yet to get back on a scale. Too afraidpirate:
I've still not adjusted to my new unemployed status. I need to nail down a concrete schedule but each day I wake up and I don't have really anything that I have to do, it is an odd feeling. Well I do take care of my son and have realized how much I was truely missing being at work.
I am doing the WATP a couple of times per week but need to increase that if these thighs are going to be exposed:p Went to the park today and we walked a bit, every little thing counts.
Being home with cookies, icecream, candy has been all too tempting. So I have not made it through one week without cheating. I keep telling myself to stop but I don't listen very well, ahh I'm turning into my dh. Help!
Well if I could make myself stay true to this journal I know I would be losing the weight and fitting into those skinny jeans. And now with the swimsuit season upon us, yikes I better get moving.
Thanks for checking in Doreen & Erin, I hope to see you soon for one of those walks :wave2:

 Hi MeMe!
You asked on my journal what is different about SB and Atkins. Well, for ME I must have been eating foods way too high in calories doing Atkins. I think the cheese and full fat dressings especially were getting out of control for me. I didn't overdo it by Atkins standards but it must have been too many calories for my sedetary life. I am still on phase one of SB which is basically Atkins. You don't count carbs BUT you only eat foods on the acceptable list which are low carb foods. The other exception is eating lower fat meats only. Like lean cuts of beef, chicken breast, and fish, etc. SB allows LF or FF milk in this phase. But only lite dressings or Olive Oil and Vinegar. And LF cheese is also acceptable. I've also switched from butter to the I can't believe it's not butter spray. A couple pages back on my Journal I have listed all of the acceptable foods for Phase One.
I've also started to Journal EVERYTHING in to Fitday. It has been quite an eye opener. I'm finding myself right now averaging around 1,000 calories a day. It seems to be working for me. I've had excellent results for my first 10 days on the program!
If you have any more questions PLEASE just ask!::yes::

Did you get to stock up on "legal" foods Meme? You've been doing really well, keep it up. I've been meaning to ask you, what's a mock danish? Willing to share the recipe? Sounds yummy!
Auntmeme
03-31-2004, 04:45 PM
Thanks for checking in. The mock danish recipe is listed on the low carb recipe page. It has 1 egg, cream cheese, splenda, lemon juice & vanilla, I love it. And I still can't find that diet orange cream soda:(
Today I finally made it to the store, $200 yikes was my bill, I feel like I was robbedpirate: But I needed so much so what am I going to do. Before I went to the store though I had to pick up my friend, 7:15 am, ahhh! so we stopped & brought back fresh bagels. I know such high carbs, the good point is that I shared mine. So I normally would have ate the whole thing and today it was only half. And of course cream cheese & coffee w/ cream.
That was it until the store and since I was on the run and had a tired toddler, he had to snack on cheetos & chips and of course I had a few. Honestly just a few:D Not my idea of a nourishing lunch for me or him. Please don't tell my mil, she would have a bird:rolleyes:
Home and had a few mozz balls, part of an antipasta salad mix. Due to time I chose exercise instead of eating so I'm still hungry but I did watp 2 miles and abs & stretching - YEAH!
Chili is cooking on the stove, I'll take out the beans and I have package of atking corn bread to make - yummy.
I need to catch up on everyones journals but I really stink and need a shower before dh comes home.:wave2:

Easter weekend was 3 strikes out for me. I don't even want to tell you what I ate, it was way toooo much. I did exercise so hopefully I didn't do that much damage, what? anyway I'm focused again and on a mission.
There is a family confirmation party on May 1st and I'd like to be a bit healthier if you know what I mean.
Sometimes I tell myself if I exercise I can eat that piece of chocolate but that is defeating the purpose. How do I get by this? it seems when I don't exercise I focus on better eating, now I just need to combine the two. Wouldn't that be a perfect world:)
