I'm sending you some sun and flowers to eliminate any grey, Monday morning blahs you may have today. Just think of all the May flowers we're going to have!

How did your weekend go? Mine had its ups and downs, but now it's Monday and I have a new dose of resolve and determination. Want to share it with me? Let's make today cheat free, OK? We can do this!:cheer2:

What do you and DS have on the calendar for today? I vote for a good storybook and a nap this afternoon. . .can I come over?:p

I don't know what happened to me. I think I was kidnapped by freaky fat loving aliens;)

Last week was a blur. It was a full blown eating nightmare. We were down near Atlantic City for 3 days and I had no control. so then I figured the week was shot so I just ate whatever. I did walk everyday. I think the beach, boardwalk with ocean is absolutely my energizer/my soother(I can't think of the right word). I could walk every day for hours, I just love it. I find soooo much peace with everything. All except food:p

Well enough bad news. I'm ok today. B- eggs w/ ch &bacon took my vits water & coffee w/ cream. L- ch & pep water now having coffee w/ cream. The rain & chilliness is awful plus I did the MS walk yesterday so I'll skip today. I'm goaling for my bd in June and the goal will be 10 pounds. I need to focus really honker down and have something to look forward to. You would think being thinner & healthier but that doesn't seem to do it. Why? somebody posted about really wanting it and I do but what drives me to eat???? I think I just like food, I do. My dh is opposite, he eats but doesn't think about it. He could skip meals and he would be grumpy but would manage. Me, I want to know what I'm eating first thought of the day and after breakfast I think about lunch & dinner. So maybe it's a mind problem and I should think of other things. It's like I am programmed to think about food, all food. How will I manage my life in the long term if I will always be this way????????

I'm not sleeping very well, thinking wayyy too much. took a nap today with my ds, I feel good but did not get everything done around the home. So much to do and so little time, where does it go??

Auntmeme
05-09-2004, 12:16 PM
The Doylestown walk was great, 3.5 miles and met 5 other wishers- had a wonderful day:sunny: Stayed on plan until the wedding and had 3 drinks & cake - yikes.

Scale this am gave me no loss or gain so I'm ok with that. I'll need to focus on lower fat and portions this coming week.

For mothers' day I treated myself to a bagel -yummy- definitely not low carb but it is one food that I just love. I'll try to stay low carb for the rest of the day. No exercise today, legs need a break.

I was veryyyy tempted by icecream in particular a chocolate sundae last night but held steadfast. Dh gave me one spoonful of his. Then walked 1 1/2 miles around the neighborhood. Had a great day, also did yard work, which I feel is such an all body workout. So today

b- 1 egg w/ch & 1 sl lc toast coffee w/ cream
l- salad w/ tuna & 1 pep shooter
h2o all day, still have a lot to go.

It looks like rain and I heard some thunder so I'll hold off on walking till tonight. Need to add some abs & stretching.

Well my cheat free days are moving up but I didn't walk yesterday. We hit Sesame Place and with the heat & walking around the park ( can I count that?) I was exhausted;) My 3 year old wasn't so mommy rested and he watched tv. Never walked due to the special survivor, addicted to that show. I have high hopes to walk walk walk today but first must get moving.

b- mock danish & coffee w/ cream

ran errand for dh & ate sm bit of his cheeseburger
l- tuna w/ may slices of pickle & sh ch

I've been staying OP but hit a plateau which I finally broke. I'm ok with that though, moving forward!

Thanks so much for posting to my journal the other day and not forgetting about me. I'm going to try really hard to journal every day. Take care!

Hi MeMe!! :wave2: I've finally made it over to your journal and I see I've missed a LOT!

Looks like you've found your groove! You're eating healthy and getting LOTS of exercise!! I sure hope the scale was good to you!

It was great to meet you at Doylestown! You're such a sweetie and Parker - so adorable!! I can't find the cable to upload the pictures from the digital camera  but as soon as I find it, I'll be sure to send you the pics of Parker. ::yes::

I'm sending  and :sunny: for your Monday!

Well it's Tuesday and I did not stay on focus at the b-day party. My sister had 2 gorgeous cakes & pbchc ic so of course I had to have it. Sunday I was on target & walked 3.4 miles. Yesterday no walk but gardened for hours and last night my thighs were a hurtin, all the squatting I think. I'm dressed and ready to walk today. Bought new sneaks last night & found the running times mag w/ the wdw marathon ad & a new low carb eating mag. So I'm focused and ready.

Disappointed the scale showed a 1 lb gain, don't know unless it's because of tom. Shorts fit better around waist and I'm watching the cheese intake.

Hi Doe thanks for stopping in. I loved meeting you & your dh and can't wait to see alll the great pics:wave:

Tues
b- coffee w/cream & 2 eggs 1 ch & 1 sl lc bread bit of ket

Auntmeme
05-19-2004, 09:45 AM
Tues
s- almonds
l-chsteak no bun
s-sm salad w/ feta ch
d- 1 sl lc toast w/pb (not too hungry)
s- lc ic
walked 2 miles

My new low carb mag has some great articles and a few websites I'll be checking. They say the key is variety of foods. It lists many recipes for summer which will be great. I need to take the time to plan the meals and stay on program. An article talks about taking pleasure in our meals using all of our senses, taking the time to enjoy. I think this will help me focus better on meal prep & portion control.

My new sneaks are great but I need new socks, I could feel a potential blister.

If the scale does not show a downward move I'll need to go back to induction. Time to reread the book.

Today I am choosing to not stay on program as I am taking my ds to see shrek 2 and I will have popcorn(one of life's evil pleasures, tongue: )

I'll exercise tonight and be on course tomorrow.

Good morning, MeMe. Just stopped by to tell you how I appreciate your support and your visits to my journal.

So, you're inspired to cook and make new meals. . .hmmm, I think I need that, too, but I really don't like to cook, so that's a problem. Can I just come over for dinner?:teeth:

Have a good day. Did you like the movie?

Erin

Auntmeme
05-20-2004, 04:12 PM
Lulu you are invited anytime;)

The shrek movie is great, we had a good time and then hit sears for some cool max socks, shorts & shirt. Had movie popcorn & 3 sm choc eggs but the rest of the day was on plan. Walked 2 miles last night, legs are feeling good :yo-yo:

Thurs
b- coffee w/ creamer(yuck out of half&half), 2 eggs w/ onions & peps
l-sm salad w/ bl ch & couple of chick wings (Applebees)
did more flower shopping so I'm off to plant - my garden is going to look dynamite:flower1:

have not stepped on the scale yet this week, last week I obsessed. I moved it under the bed and will not check till sunday. I better see a loss or else the scale is going to get it:mad:

lulu201
05-21-2004, 09:23 AM
OK, here's the plan. Start whispering threatening messages to the scale under the bed (when no one's around, of course:rolleyes: )--things like "If you don't cooperate, I'm going to leave you on the porch and Erin will come over and beat the you-know-what out of you." If you start now, by Sunday you should see some good results (as long as you keep up with the sensible eating and great walking that you've been doing :D ). If it doesn't, well, you know what to do. . .I can be over there by 6 a.m.!

Have a good day, MeMe.

Oh, yeah, what are we having for dinner?:p

I hope you had a great weekend and that you & the scale are still on speaking terms after yesterday.

Let me know how you like your new CoolMax workout gear! I've been thinking I'd like to try some CoolMax stuff but haven't done it yet. Does it really keep you cooler??

Have a great Monday! :sunny:

Hi girls:wave2:

The scale is ok, not my best friend but we are on speaking terms. I lost 1 lb says the scale today :Pinkbounc I know I veered a little off course this weekend with movie popcorn and I only walked 3x so I'll take the one. and saturday night I had some nachos oh my and yesterday a couple of chips while out by the pool. This week will be better and I have to make a really good plan for the weekend. The new low carb mag has quite a few menu plans for bbq and parties, drinks and snacks. I'm hitting the grocery store now but will most likely have to go to the health food store later in the week. And I must walk more this week and do some ab work. This healthy living is sooooo muchhhh workkk

The coolmx socks are wonderful and the shirt & shorts have yet to be really put to the test. I have worn them but not for an intense workout. If the are like the socks I highly recommend. And my new sauconys are the bomb!

Auntmeme
05-26-2004, 01:43 PM
Well it's wednesday already and the rain has halted my walking plans. Looks like it may clear up later and I'll try for a 2-3 miler. Monday was on target, no walk can't remember why. Yesterday was on target till evening and then hit the pizza joint with girlfriend, we shared so it was not all bad but the calzone is definitely not atkins firendly. So today

b- coffee w/ cream & omelet w/ gr pep, on, ham & ch
water

Still organizing summer clothes and am amazed at how many shorts I own that do not fit, what happened to my hips??? Need to get in more intense exercise or those shorts will never see daylight;)

Auntmeme
05-27-2004, 11:12 AM
wed l- chick salad
d-scallops w/ bacon & mushrooms, salad w/ bl ch
s- low carb ic bar
s- 1 tbs pb
walked 1.8 miles
almost finished the closet organizing, must have 1 more box of clothes missing swimsuit. gardened a little still much more to do, it is such a whole body workout that I don't like doing it so much each day. Today will plan to do some and finish this weekend. It's less humid today think we'll hit sesame place for a while and walk later. Even though I belong to a gym I haven't been there in 3 months so I may cancel the membership since I'm enjoying walks outside now but what happens come fall, hmmm.

lulu202
05-27-2004, 02:55 PM
Did you go to Sesame Place today? At least it wasn't hot and icky. Can you put a hold on the gym membership and then go back in the fall? That way you have a back up plan for cold weather. Personally, I HATE to walk in the cold, so for me, it's the treadie in the winter or nothing. It's just my two cents, but I say: jock athletes like us need to keep our options open! Where did you get your cool max socks? I have to get some!

I'm jealous of your clean closets. If you want to take on any more, let me know!:D

Erin

Auntmeme
05-28-2004, 10:47 AM
Sesame Place was good, alittle more crowded than last time. Will probably get worse as we head into summer.

Thurs - l- ham & ch rolups & atkins chips
d- sauted scallops w/ baked cauliflower
s- coffee w/ cream
s- 1/2 diet rb & tbl pb

walked 2.3 miles and then another .5 later, did bit of gardening with more for today if it stops raining and not too muddy:D

Hi Erin, thanks for stopping in:wave: us jocks;) do need the most options. Would love to get tm but can't figure out where to put it, still thinking:crazy: Sorry can't see me doing anyone else's closets can barely make through my own, it's taken me months and they still don't seem organized:rolleyes:

I've been a slave to my scale this week:eek: I moved it under the bed and can't stop myself each am and it does not appear good. I've switched to egg whites and switched from lc ic to lc ic bars better portion control. This holiday weekend will be tough so I'm off to find lc recipes and then hit the store, preparedness is the key;)

TGIF
b- coffee w/ cream, 3 ew w/ ham & ch & 1 sl lc toast, bit of ket

Meme, organized closets - what a concept!! I should tackle mine over this long weekend! I was watching one of those home makeover shows last night and I liked their concept. Take everything out and then put each thing on one of three piles - keep it, sell it or toss it! Then go through the keep pile again and make SURE you want to keep it all. :p I'd have a lot less "stuff" if I did it that way!

You're down a pound!! :Pinkbounc YAY!! Those single pounds add up over time! It sounds like you're getting plenty of exercise in, with all that gardening and running around Sesame Place!

I'm going to look for some CoolMax socks!!

Hope your day is filled with sunshine & smiles! :sunny:

Well the weekend is near complete and I did not make it through too well. From Saturday's movie popcorn & fries oh yeah 2 margaritas to today's donut  So I can not add anymore cheatfree days but I can plan to exceed that number nextmonth.

I walked 2 miles on Saturday but nothing yesterday or today. The scale shows a 1/2 lb loss so I guess better than nothing:) Tomorrow will be hard have a long day planned and dinner at in-laws. Told neighborhood I'd work for him, really don't want to :( why do we do we things for others when we really want to say no?

Will need to stick to plan for first week of June since walking will be hard to fit in.

Auntmeme
06-04-2004, 03:52 PM
JUne and the beginning of another month. Today has been good, keeping to plan and cleaning the house:rolleyes: Tuesday did not fair well as had mil b-day dinner, which had 2 side choices - peas or noodles, neither considered low carb and of course had to have cake, they made me do it:p

Wed was great. Stuck to plan & walked 2.25 miles, finally.

Yesterday was good until arrived homle late, after working for neighbor all day doing mindless crap, only again if he desperately needs help. Ate dinner at 8ish, starving and angry with dh so of course ate 2 sl of pizza:( and no exercise. I can feel the fat clinging to my thighs & belly, yikes where is my will power:rolleyes: )

So after 4 days in a new month I only have 2 cheat free days, better not keep this rate up or I'll never lose more.

On to finish cleaning & make chicken dinner.

Wow it's the end of the weekend already. I did great. Yahoo! Will check scale tomorrow am, let's keep fingers crossed is everybody listening?????

Walked a little over 4 miles yesterday on dm treadmill, I was feeling the vibes from my wishers friends. Truly that is what made me last so long and the great high paced cd I listened to. In the end I made it in 63 minutes now I just have to keep that pace for another 9 miles? yikes, I need to really train harder. With 6 months to go I have a good shot.

I'm adding 2 more cheat free days and let's hope I can change my clippie tomorrow.

lulu201
06-06-2004, 06:53 PM
I'm listening, MeMe, and I say WAY TO GO!:cheer2: You're walking the walk! I know that question: "will I be able to go 13 miles?" and the answer is YES, YOU WILL! YES I WILL, TOO!! But, here's the kicker: we can't stop training. We have to want it, we have to go get it, we can never turn your back on it and then we'll succeed! GO, MEME!!

Good luck with the scale tomorrow.

Hugs,
Erin

Monday am and it's ok. Made it through sunday and the scale was good, not great but 1 lb loss. So I need one more to claim a new clippie, hopefully next week. I'm also buying a 5lb bag of sugar so I can check my scale. My dm scale was nicer than mine.

b- mock danish, coffee w/ cream

d- will be meatloaf

Need to run errands so catch you later.

Thanks for stopping by Erin:wave2: When I walked on the tm saturday I specifically thought of you. I could hear you pushing me to the end. I could picture you doing your 4 miles. Thanks for the motivation!

Walked 1.7 yesterday around neighborhood, today will be longer!

Made meatloaf for dinner lastnight and substituted haf ingredients with lc stuff, dh doesn't know the difference. Also ate sauerkraut, coffee w/cream. No snacks.

Today
b- coffee w/cream denver omelet w/ mostly egg whites, lc ket & 1 sl lc toast. Trying the Baker lc bread, and it is much better than atkins.

Plan to stick to plan:p and walk.

Auntmeme
06-10-2004, 10:54 AM
Well the plan to stick to plan did not work out. After busting my butt in the garden all day I was too exhausted to cook & ordered chinese- yikes! Ate a few crunchy noodles, who can resist;) my main meal was ch veggies w/ honey roasted pork, due to the sweetness I'm sure I was not too lc for the day so I won't count as a cheat free day.

Worked in the garden yesterday too, this has to be considered cross-training:teeth: as my entire body aches in the evening. We now have a small pond & garden swing, what a couple of bucks & hard work will do ;)
Yesterday meals were on target and today is shaping up.

b- mock danish, coffee w/cream

dressed to walk so I'll catch you later

walked 4.1 miles at the park- feels great!
l- pros & ch

It's been days since I posted and the weekend did me in:(

It was my b-day on satu so we headed for the beach to walk the boards. The fries & chips w/salsa were not on my plan. And sunday with tom I had to have a ho-ho. Anyway no loss for me:mad: But no gain either:D

Did stay on plan tuesday & today. So I'll count 2 more cheat free days yeah :bounce: But-there is always a but - I'm heading for the beach on monday for 3 days and we're doing a bbq for dear old dad on sunday. Hi MeMe,
How are you doing? I read that you're going to have the vision surgery. That's really great. Both my sons had it and now see 20-20 without glasses or contacts. They highly recommend it.

How about this weather? It's either rainy or so humid it's difficult to be outdoors. I'll try to ride my bike this evening when it cools down.

Have a great time at the shore. We're heading down about the 2nd week of July after DD has her baby.

Talk to you soon. Nancy J

Wow it's been over a week since I posted. I was down the shore and then had eye surgery. The good news is the lasik surgery worked and it is truly amazing:)

The bad news is I ate all types of junk and gained a pound:( I probably should count myself as lucky :p

I'm back today with a real vengance, I must loss weight before my next shore vacation in August:crazy:

Walked over 4 miles yesterday and so far only cofee w/ cream.

If I were having eye surgery, I'd be awfully stressed out before-hand - maybe that's what happened at the beach. Don't worry about it. You sound like you're ready to jump back on the healthy living wagon - good for you!

Good morning, MeMe!:wave2: Lasik surgery? Cool! You are more daring than I, I have to say. I've heard only wonderful things about the surgery, though. Congrats!

You asked where I was walking. Well, when I walked at the park I was Warminster's new community park. They have a 2.3 mile trail you can walk. Today I'm going to Warwick park. Tomorrow, who knows? :hyper: You are so inspiring to me with all that you've been doing--your example helps me to "just do it!"

Have a healthy day!

Well hello July!

I hope this month is better for me than last, with the eatting plan. I have been walking and think I need to add some othter type of exercise for increased weight loss, as I thought I would be further down the scale:( The good news is I feel healthier and some clothes do fit better, still where did all this celulite come from?????at least with my tan it doesn't appear as bad. This is the best tan I've had since college:cool:

Hi Erin thanks for stopping in. Lasik surgery was great, vvery weird but overall highly recommended!

Today I am headed out to walk and then to the movies with dmil. And you know what the movies mean, popcorn  have to do it, so today will not be cheat free. Not a great way to start a new month????

MeMe, if you've been eating on plan for the most part, I wouldn't worry about the popcorn. Enjoy some for me!!

Hope your weekend is filled with :sunny: and :teeth: !!

Well the long weekend has set me back again:( I'm up another pound, yikes! I can't begin to tell you the junk I ate. I did walk 3.5 miles but that is not enough to combat my eatting. So with only 4 weeks till vacation I need to jump back. I reread the atkins book and now I'll start at induction and see what happens.

B-
1 egg w/ 2 sausage links, coffee w/ cream

onto lunch and then errands. will have to catch up on the boards later, wondering how everyone else did this holiday?????

well i'm within the 20 carb count for today and it is after 7 pm. no exercise yet but hoping to walk a little later. I must continue this for the next 2 weeks, ahhhhh:rolleyes:

TGIF

I've made it through to friday with less than 20 carbs per day. I walked 2 miles on tuesday and need to walk again today. The difficulty will be to stick to plan for the weekend. Why are the weekends sooo hard? what is so different? could it be the relaxing attitude, enjoying family & friends which of course involves food. But isn't food to be enjoyed so how to enjoy it all and stick to plan???

Oh why couldn't I have been born one of those skinny, no weight problem, food eatting, no exercise needed women?????? genetics:rolleyes:

DoeWDW
07-14-2004, 02:10 PM
 MeMe, if you figure out the answer to your genetics question, let me know! I'm built exactly like my father and have his tendency to keep weight on. Sure wish I would have gotten my mom's figure! :teeth:

I hope induction is still going well. The weekends are definitely tougher for me. The weekdays have a certain routine and rhthym to them that helps me. The weekends have no routine - there's always time to hang out in the kitchen (not good for me!). :p

Sending you best wishes for a :sunny: day!

Auntmeme
07-16-2004, 01:04 PM
Well it's been days, oh my a whole week:rolleyes: The weekend was a disaster- so much for induction:mad:
My computer was on the fritz so I would have been here sooner.

I've made it through this week, with a small bit of chocolate;) I am an addict, and of course someone gave it to me as a gift - the nerve of them:p I've walked a total of 5 miles so far and am heading out the door now to walk, before the rain:) Where oh where is my sun:sunny: ?

I did get on the scale though officially I only should on Mondays, but we all know how that goes:rolleyes: I'm down to where I was weeks ago, and need to lose 1 more to hit the 15 clippie - can I hold strong over the weekend???? that would be the ultimate question:crazy:

Maybe, if you're really good this weekend, you'll get that elusive 15 pound clippie on Monday!!! ::yes:: You know how I love to throw clippie parties!! :sunny:

Have a great weekend and check in when you can.

Monday has turned out great so far:)

friday - I walked a 5 miler in the park & it had lots of hills - ah my thighs are still feeling it, we went to my fave mexican and I had some chips & 2 margs- the real ones ( more $$) but I'm sure lower carb since there is no mix used :drinking1

sat was great - made my own low carb margs - not the best but will do ;) hung out with friends and then someone decides that we should head to the local ice cream parlor :scared1: what was I to do? say NO? so I was thinking of a belgian waffle with ic but went for the pb sundae w/ pb cup ic - it was excellent and I don't regret it! but the scale sure did

sunday was right on target - the rain did not allow a walk though:(

today has been on plan and I'm making fish - yummy
walked 3 miles at the park and my thighs are still screaming!

no loss according to grand scale better luck next week;)

Made it another day!
tues
b- 1 1/2 eggs w/ ham & ch, lc ket, coffee w/ cream

heading off to the free movies for kids - joy I get to watch looney tunes:rolleyes: Can I resist the popcorn? I never can:eek:

I figured out it is onlt 10 weeks till our cruise and at this rate I won't even have lost another 10:mad: I think I need to kick my butt into high gear, what to do?

Oh why oh why wasn't I not born 5 ft 10, long legs & blond? that way I would probably have a personal chef & trainer;)

Auntmeme

Made it thru tuesday now on to wednesday.

Had a few bites of popcorn at the movies. this is such a change since we always get a small or medium container with x-tra butter. since this was a kids free movie and at 10:30 am, I was still full from breakfast, bought my son the kids meal which has a small amount of popcorn. So it was a true success:bounce:

Did not walk yesterday but will get out there today, waiting for ds to wake up. It needs to be first on agenda or I won't do it.

Need to go to the meat store, but the freezer is full ? I have no idea with what:crazy: I'm going to try to cut out cheese for the rest of the week and see how it goes. I need a whoosh fairy:D

Auntmeme

Walked a little over 2 miles yesterday - ahh it was hot!

Ate OP until bf called to go have a drink. Had 1 margarita and it was a real one so I'll till count that as a cheat free day. I had some cherries in the afternnon and need to find out the carb count, going to the atkins site.

Today I def need to hit the store, nothing to eat for dinner. It's only breakfast and I'm thinking of dinner:rolleyes:

I can't stay off the scale, terrible thing:mad: can't find my tape measure so I'm not sure how I'm doing there. I know i'm smaller but not small enough:p would love to lose 15 before our cruise, only 71 days, should be doable but look how long it's been for me to lose 1 and keep it off:( down 1 up 1 down 1 up 1 so actually I'm staying the same - this stinks.

I'm going to make a plan. I'm heading to rehoboth beach de in a week and a half. After that week's vacation I plan to stay cheat free till the cruise. I'm going to make a big sign to remind myself, and a count down calendar.
I feel better now

Everything went well yesterday, no exercise but lots of errands. I was exhausted;)

Visited the store and stocked up on all kinds of meat & veggies- yum:tongue: Visited atkins site and saved lots of recipes, hope I have time to make them, seems like it is easier to just grill a steak and steam some broccoli:crazy:

Will plan to eat op and walk today & do ab work. This belly pouch has got to go:mad:

Well hit the eye doc for a1 month eval and looks like I have drifted back into near sightedness:( He says this rarely happens, justmy luck:crazy: I may have to go back for an enhancement, wish it was an enhancement on a different part of my bod;)

Stayed op yesterday except for the 3 little pieces of chocolate, 2 kisses & a mini:teeth: How many carbs in them? wondering if I should buy lc choc to have on hand as I am an addict and nothing else fills that craving:crazy:

IThere was no way to walk yesterday as the rain lets up and then pours down, where is my sun:sunny: So I rented a movie and watched it as I rode my stat. bike, a whole hour:Pinkbounc :bounce: and then I did some ab work. Need to desparately do abs everyday or every other need to make this a commitment. After I had my ds it has not been the same:(

Purchased a new bathing suit yesteday for vaca, a blue tankini w/ flower print, sooo cute. Hoping some of my shorts that did not fit now will fit, keep youir fingers crossed :)

Good morning, MeMe! :sunny: The sun is finally shining in Bucks County! Can you believe it? I never thought we'd see the sun!

So where did you buy this tankini? I went looking for them a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find any I like. They have to have an underwire top--which is next to impossible--so that may be why I came up empty-handed.

Just so you know, I have a new journal. I'm trying my best to get myself re-motivated and serious and I thought maybe that would help. Come visit me there! Oh, btw, I'm totally in awe of your 15 day cheat free bear; if I can stay cheat free all week maybe I'll start a bear clippie, too. You're inspiring me, MeMe.

What a great idea, Meme!

I know clothing, and how it fits (and doesn't) has always been motivational for me!

I used to have my "tight jeans" the ones I could only get into if I dropped 5 or 10 lbs from where I was. After losing 40 lbs, imagine how I felt when they were too big!

Back from the beach and oh my, did not do well with eating. way too much junk:mad: just couldn't stop once I started. I did walk 2x; a 2+2 and a 2.5. I had charge of 4 kids for the last 3 1/2 days so I really couldn't leave them alone, the oldest is only 9. (god bless anyone who has more than 2 children:D) I have one more day to go and I'm pooped already. What to do with them today:crazy:

The beach is a real weight loss program motivator. I know I will never be like the 20ish size 2:rolleyes: but I'd love to loss another 20 and be more solid. My legs are doing pretty well from all the walking but I need to tone all the rest of me:teeth:

So I'm on a mission now, with less than 60 days till our cruise I need to hunker down. I vow to

1. aerobic exercise 5x/wk- walk or ride bike
2. abs & stretching 6x/wk
3. op - switch meat to mostly fish & chick, limit cheese
4. water 10 cups per day
5. vitamins

I'll grocery shop first thing on tuesday after I return my nephews and I'm throwing away all junk food!

Today begins my week - so bring it on:wave2:

Hi Meme,
You're really doing great with your walking! DH and I haven't been over to the park since the construction began and the weather got so rainy. With the entrance being closed, do you walk over to the park? We used to drive in and park and then walk around.

Well no cheat free days for me:( we went to the jersey shore and I went off plan, don't even want to tell you. I could have made better choices but I didn't, why? I justify to myslef that all my walking will cancel out the junk I'm eating but in the long run I won't make any progress.

For a smart woman I can be really stupid:confused3 even with all the rain we had a great time:love: no ds, it was like dating again:D I made ressies for labor day weekend, let's pray for :sunny: it will be the last fling of the summer, why does it go by soooo quickly? I'll plan to be cheatfree till then.

As I think about the food, junk food inparticular, I think we need to have a balance otherwise how can we go thru life and thoroughly enjoy it. I love food there is no doubt about it. I think food is one of the sheer pleasures of life and if the majority of the time I can make healthy choices than I should be ok with eatting some less than healthy choices sometimes. I consider myself healthy. I workout, I take vitamins, I drink lotssss of water, I have fun and basically live a stress free life(due to current unemployment:rolleyes: )

since I was in hs, I have worn a sz 10 and exercised. in college I went down to a sz8 only because I didn't eat well (I only drank beer:rolleyes: ) so I wasn't healthy. Than after college I worked at a gym, I lived there and exercised for hours, this had to be the time of my life when I was in the best shape(though I didn't eat all that well but lived at home with dm so wasn't too bad:) )After met dh I gained 20 lbs and then ds put on another20 and of course had no time to exercise or so I told myself and I never got on a scale and didn't realize how much I had gained:sad1: one day dh joked about how much I weighed so I found out and yikes:scared1: that is when i made a decision to loss the xtra lbs. I know it is a longgg journey but one I can make with changes. I love to exercise, I know some people think yuk but honestly I love the rush it gives you and the changes it makes in my physique (naturally wide hips& big bum:crazy: ) I need to concentrate on everyday healthy eating with an off plan night/day once in a while.

so where was I - today coffe w/crem, 1 egg w/ can bac/pep & lc toastw/lc ket I want to do a longgg walk today let's see how the weather holds up (it's overcast now)

all day ate on plan and walked 3.28 miles in the park, did abs & stretching - I will be in great shape in 40 days!

Hi Kristin :wave2:

I bought a new tape measure and it is not soo evil:teeth: In 1998 I wrote down my measurements and that is where I want to be(for now).

Bust - 36
Waist - 30.5
Hips - 39
thighs - 22
Arms - 12

Right now I'm at
38
31.5
41
22
13

so I'm not doing too bad. How do I get these hips down?

Instead of walking yesterday we went for a bike ride on the Delawre Canal. It was a great day - estimate we rode 18 miles, did abs & stretching. It feels wonderful to use different muscles. Boy I was achey alll nite.

Finally booked airfare & I'm glad I waited - got a great deal with Airtran (flew them last year) only 171 pp. They had some $49 deals, each way but still that is only $100 rt to Orlando,if the times are ok. I couldn't get a $49 departing flight but booked a $99, if we flew at 7am it would have been only $79. Now I need a car service & a hotel for 1 nite. Only 44 days to go, starting to think about wardrobe
:)

You did great on the airfare for your trip!! WOO HOO!! You're going to have such a great time!! ::yes:: Make sure you come back and tell us all about it, OK???

I have the same struggles with my food choices. Some days it is so easy and natural to eat on plan. Other days it is such a chore and I totally go off, eating whatever! I think you're right though - build in some days when you can have the foods you're missing. That way you can stay on plan most of the time and enjoy those splurges guilt-free!

Did well saturday, rode bike for 30 min & abs & stretching. Had a birhtday party and drank a lc drink & than some wine spritzer, it had fruit slices yummy:tongue: Ate a few nibbles of snacks but nothing outrageous and no cake:Pinkbounc Not counting cheat free due to drinks & nibbles:( Scale has not budged so no new clippie will check tomorrow after I load up on H2o, I feel bloated. Plan to walk today also, should do a longgggg one but not sure I'm in themood. Only 33 days till vacation:Pinkbounc

Happy Monday!

I did well yesterday. Walked 2.25 miles, soaked up some sun and ate pretty well. sister made me a pina colada- was I to day no:rolleyes: and mom offered to buy chinese for dinner:rolleyes: I made pretty good choices, considered but will not consider cheat free.

Have to push myself this week if I am to lose steadily before my cruise. I know by the marathon I'll be in great shape as all this training is helping tremendously. Will stay op this whole week or you have permission to beat me over the head;)

Happy Thursday!

I ate op yesterday & walked 4.2 miles - whew, I was feeling it and loving it:) did stretching & abs too.

today I'm op and I walked 2.5 miles, stretched and still need to do abs.

My dilemma is I'm heading down the shore tomorrow and you know what that means - the boardwalk:rolleyes: I plan on walking, love beach & early bw walking but I know I will not be eating totally op. I'm trying to figure out a happy medium, hmmmm:scratchin

Well I still have tomorrow am to let you know so I'll sleep on it:wave:

MeMe, I hope your beach time was relaxing! There's just nothing like walking barefoot along the surf, smelling the salt air and listening to the waves and the gulls....aaaaaahhhhh.

Now it's time to get serious! You've got 3.5 weeks until the cruise, right?? Keep up with that exercise and make healthy food choices! ::yes::

The beach was great:sunny: Friday was nice, sat was wonderful, sun was soo windy & chilly not a great beach day but we tried and yesterday was good but we only walked the boards & came home. In all I had a wonderful time:teeth:

The scoop on the food is not too good however the walking was. Fri - walked the boards, not for exercise but I know it is almost 1 mile each way.
Sat - up early - sun rising over the ocean(stunning) 2.4 miles
sun - 1.6 miles
Mon - 1.9 miles

3 1/2 weeks till cruise and need to push it a little harder - the scale is not being nice but my clothes are fitting much better. Still have some shorts I need to fit into - can I make it::yes::

Ate op yesterday & did some abs & stretching, no walkiing. Today planned to walk but rain has threw me for a loop. have many errands to run, what to do?

I think I'll visit dm and use her tm. Plan to increase workouts till cruise as my shorts are still on that top shelf waiting to be worn

Well yesterday did not work out as planned. Ever have those days:crazy: I did eat op all day and I did workout. Rode my stat bike for 60 min, increased tension every 10 min or so. Did abs 7 stretching. REally wanted to stop at 40 but I need to kick it up a notch.

Today ate all day op, walked 3.5 miles and need to do abs & st. My legs were aching at 1/2 mile and I thought I'd never make it. Most have been the bike workout, using other muscles:rolleyes: Felt much better after 1mile and then the rest was fine. It sprinkled and the wind was strong at times(do I get extra points?) but did 62 min. :Pinkbounc

The scale still is the same:( so I'm not sure atkins is doing it for me anymore. I'm goingto try to do egg whites & chicken & tuna & turkey for the next 3 weeks. Have to hit the grocery store:rolleyes: I will fit into some of those shelved shorts by my cruise!

Erin I sent you a pm. would love to walk again!

yesterday walked 1.9 what happend to another .1:rolleyes: had a little struggle eating. well not struggle just wanted to eat some carbs:D had a cheesburger while at a fleamarket and ate the roll & 2 homemade cho chip cookies, yummy  then for dinner made a salad & wanted to have briannas raspberry dressing, not too mych but full of sugar, delicious:tongue:

I've decided to eliminate the cheat free bear:( I'm sure someone new wil use him:) I feel that I'm eating pretty well most of the time and the exercising is also going very well, I jsut need that scale to move:mad: I'm visiting dm and she says her scale is right, she weighs in at ww weekly so I'll we'll see. I've always thought my scale was crazy:crazy:

Received a compliment yesrterday, wahoo:Pinkbounc from dmil, double wahoo:Pinkbounc :bounce: if you know what I mean!she noticed I was losing weight. Then decided to buy new dress for formal nite on cruise, not a gown but something nice. Everyone is wearing black so I pick a purple one(fav color) and it's very sexy(according to dh) but also beautiful. Best part the size is an 8:earseek: What an 8? well I know I'm not a size 8 cause my shorts/pants that are 10s still do not fit. but that number made me feel great! numbers numbers addicted to numbers:p

Will be trying on other clothes today to see what else fits, maybe some of those shorts, keeping fingers crossed:teeth:

lulu201

MOnday and I'm op but really want to have chocolate:tongue: I'll need to eat dinner soon or else I may just give in...

I walked 2 miles with dm yesterday and 3 miles today. We are having gorgeous weather and walking has been so delicious - I must be hungry:p

My scale is not moving, however dm's scale says I lost 1 lb. DM swears her scale is right due to her weigh ins at ww. Moms are always right, right:teeth: I'm surprised my scale isn't moving, I'm doing so well with exercising and eatting. It can be soooo discouraging. and my measurements are still the same. Clothes do fit better, which is good. I can zip & snap shorts that are on top of the skinny shorts pile, though I won't be wearing them out because I don't even like them anymore:rolleyes: So the next pair of shorts in the pile, I do like this pair, better fit next week.

Yseterday we went to the zoo so we walked but it weas casual. I hit dm tm and did 4.25 miles. I was exhausted last night, yawning at 9pm:faint: Too tired to do abs.

Today I ate OP. Had lunch at ruby tuesday. the lc broccoli soup is fantastic however it does have 12 gms and then with the salad:rolleyes: this to me is not that low carb but better than wed when I ate french fries.

I walked 3.6 miles today, did some upper body and will do double abs soon. Gotta go put chicken on the grill.

It's turned out to be a great day so far! Thanks for the walk Erin:wave2: We walked 5.72 yippie all I have left is stretching & abs. The scale still has not moved:mad: I've become obsessed:( and I hate it! So I will not get on the scale until 2 days before we leave on vacation, that is the plan! I am moving the scale to where I can not seeit, maybe I'll forget where it is;)

I will be trying on my small(er) shorts and this is how I will know I'm doing well. I feel great and that is what counts the most:earseek:

Ate eggs & lc toast with coffee for breakfast and plan to stay on plan for the day.

Wow I've missed sooo many days:rolleyes: I did not stick to eating plan this weekend, just felt like I had to have certain foods. Why is it that the really delicious foods are the ones that are bad for our bodies? shouldn't it be the other way around?????

I have yet to step on a scale which is torture;) I have been exercising
Sat 20 min jump roping - if you haven't jumped in awhile this is a killer for legs - exhausted
sun - walked around town with dm, forgot pedometer but walked lasted over an hour close to two, not fast but still exercise. Visited my ancestors' church & cemetery, I now know where my great grandmother is buried:D got some great genealogy info.
mon - tm for 2.25

Today I feel tired:confused: I want to go walk, it is a beautiful day but I feel sooooo sleepy. We'll see what the rest of the day brings.

Felt much better yesterday and it was soooo beautiful was going to do a quick walk around neighborhood but the sunshine convinced me to walk over to the park:) Total of 5 miles:Pinkbounc :bounce: also stretched & ab work. Also ate op.

Today will be hard to stay op as we have dinner at dils and that always includes carbs. I think the only side dishes they know how to make are high carb:confused:

I'm off today to have another lasik procedure as the first one 3 mon ago was not enough. I am a tad apprehensive but need to do it or I'll need to get glasses again:cool: not sure I'll have time to walk we'll see.

Hi Maryellen,
I hope your procedure went well. Not wearing glasses will be great. I wish I could get rid of mine. I wore contacts for may years, but when I needed bifocals (am I really that old?) I switched back to glasses.

You really are doing a lot of walking in the park. It is pretty this time of year.

It's been over a week since I posted:( where does the time go? well I feel as though I have been so busy, running here, there & everywhere. with ds in pre-school it takes up half of 2 days, by the time I take him, I need to turn arund and pick hime up:rolleyes: today is his first fall party, he needed to dress up as a bible character,so he looks like a shepherd but he doesn't want to wear it, he like his batman so much more:) too hard for him to understand why he can't wear it.

My eating hasn't been the best but not the worst either so if I focus I could get it under control. Hi MeMe!
You are getting in some great miles of training for the half marathon! Way to go! Between all of the walking we are doing, and the No Candy Challenge, we should be in good shape. ::yes:: What plan are you following for the marathon? I am doing John Bingham's because it gave me 2 extra weeks of training. I have checked and it is very close to Hal Higdon's.

Tomorrow is 40 minutes for me. I am planning to do some speed drills to see if I can improve my pace. Wish me luck! :D

Hi Terry, thanks for stopping by. do yuo have a journal? Ashley from the marathon board sent me a schedule though I'm not sure whose. I try to follow a schedult that's posted in about.com for 1/2 marathon walkers, not too strictly. It schedules a 4 miler 2x per week and then 2 longer walks, a 6 & 8 & the next week a 8& 10 each week the longer oes increase till you hit 14. Themost I've done is an 8 so far, time is really the factor for me. Most of the time I am pushing ds in a stroller and if he doesn't fall asleep I don't like to go longer than a hour or so. Need to do some training on my own, this weekend I hope to do at least a 10 miler.

Getting a little apprehensive about the 1/2 marathon, not that I can't do it but that I'm with just me, no family or friends walking with me. Hoping to find a wish buddy who will chit chat the entire time, this is what makes my walks now go by so quickly. My df & I just talk talk talk, any & all subjects.

Eatting has been stillunder par  Too many carbs and now I have a head cold so I want noodles & juice. I'm going to have to get on the scale soon & start focusing on losing more weight. It seems if I don't know how much I weigh then I don't worry about it - but this is when the pounds will creep upon me, one by one they attack me:p Picture a fat blob running after me forcing fat onto my butt & thighs & stomach - I will keep this image so as to stay away from the junk food:D

I bet he looked so adorable!! Did I say adorable?? I meant tough, yeah, and strong, like a superhero should! ::yes::

No worries about the half, MeMe! There will be lots of WISHers for you to chat with, including me!

Hey, Meme. How are you doing this morning? I see that you've posted to my journal. . .I'll go over there in a minute.

Alone? At the half marathon? Doreen and Amanda and a bunch of others are walking, too. . .you've got to hook up with them, girlfriend. You know that if I were still in the game (did you read how I had to withdraw?) we'd be walking together. Still, I know that there will be WISH friends out there for you.

A 10 miler this weekend? YOU GO GIRL!!!!:Pinkbounc The weather is supposed to be nice, so this is the weekend to do it. I AM worried about your training, though--you're going to need consistent access to a treadie when the weather gets cold, I think. Are you planning on using your mom's on a regular basis? You and Parker are NOT going to want to be out in the chill.:(

What's on your schedule for tomorrow? Do you want to get in a walk? I can go for an hour in the morning. . .if you're available, you just say when is good for you and Parker and I'll meet you wherever you want to walk.

Take care,
Erin

Edit: Doreen beat me to the reply button! I knew she'd be up for a Florida walk and chat!

Hey Meme! No worries about going solo. I don't think there *is* such a thing as solo when you are a WISHer! Where are you staying?? Right now I am staying at the All Star Movies - still trying to get an AP or discount rate somewhere.

Let me know how that long sleeved CoolMax shirt works out for you. I know I need some things for the marathon - just don't know what! Today it was 48º, windy with a slight drizzle. I had on a tshirt, light weight zippered hoodie and a sweatshirt! The sweatshirt kept coming off and on, depending on the wind. I forgot my hat - big mistake - but tried to keep the hoodie up when I could. My pants (okay - they are really capris, but not on me!) are lightweight as well. I did okay this outfit.

Which water pack did you order? I can't decide if I should be carrying water or just rely upon the water stations. I have been bringing 'food' on my long walks - trying the different ones out. So far, my favorite is the Clif Bar. I had a Protein Plus bar today - liked it a lot - only to find out this flavor has been discontinued. Ugh.

Keep training! It sounds like you have the endurance thing down pat. I still need to work on my time. You are doing GREAT!

Have been not too committed to eatting plan:( snacking way to much still. I feel as though I can't stop myself, why? Breakfast & lunch are fine but then I have high carbs for dinner & then snack on a few cookies, or pretzels. Need to get this under control:mad:

Walking is great, did 4 miles tuesday and am heading out today. Hope to walk for 2 hours while ds is in school but without a walking buddy, I'm not sure how it will go:rolleyes: I know I'll be bored talking to myself. I will wear my headphones but 2 hours:crazy:

For layers I wore a sports bra top, a ls ski shirt from dh(not coolmax, but similar), sweatshirt & wind breaker - the sweatshirt was too much will eliminate that today. Pants were just cotton sweats, ok but will switch to coolmax pants today. Need hat & gloves. The waist pack I purchased was on a recommended list at about.com. It is by Ultimate Direction called Gemini. Has twin water bottles, large zipper main compartment, rear pocket, hipbelt pocket. Looks a little big but when I don't push a stroller I have no where to put stuff. I usually bring water, snack ( a loved the snickers marathon bars but I think they are more like a candy bar so I'm sticking to lc bars), keys, cell phone. The rretail tag says $45, I paid $14.95 through sierra trading post.

I don't like this cold weather - if I wasn't doing the marathon I think I'd stay under my blankets all day:)

You and me both, Girlfriend! You and me both!!

You sound like you are well on your way to having the appropriate equipment for this marathon. I definitely need to focus on getting some items ready. I feel time creeping up on me!

PS: Can we go back to bed now? ;)

Auntmeme
11-11-2004, 01:21 PM
No staying in bed today! The weather is not too bad, paper says 50's-60's. so I layered, got my new waist pack ready, water, snack, music. Dropped ds off & found cd player in the car, changed the cd & oops batteries low, lucky I have extras, oops low again What? found another pair and works but getting low so first place to walk is the drug store for batteries.

Start walking good pace, a little windy but comfortable. Waistpack is a little heavy with 2 waters & cd player. Make it to CVS buy batteries and I'm off again. wind jacket has to go, fold it & put in new waistpack, perfect. Now i'm walking..... Oh no realize forgot pedometer, ok will drive later to see how far. Ok now I have to pee, already? no I'm not stopping - the stores are the opposite direction and I'll be fine, a porta potty would have done well;) Need to make my own cds to keep the pace had to switch songs a number of times. One hour down, turn around, great song YMCA, boogieing now. I'm now walking against the wind, wish there was no wind:sunny: Going to have to pee, head to grocery store, perfect need lc bread anyway. Ok feel better now, but starting to drag. Eat 1/2 of lc bar feeling motivated. What music does disney play? is it the entire marathon or only certain places???? will need x-tra motivation at the 2 hour mark. Ok need to head back to ds' school. Right on time, do some stretching then head into school. Now to drive & see how far. I can definitely feel it in my legs, and my hands:crazy: Well after making a wrong turn & re-driving my course, total is a little over 9 miles. Whew, can't believe I did it:earseek:

HOLY COW, MeMe! Are you kidding me?? 9 miles in 2 hours? You are sooooooooooooo kicking my tail! I still haven't posted to my own journal, but I did my long walk yesterday, and it took me 2 hours to walk 6 miles. :o

You rock!!!

Auntmeme
11-15-2004, 07:38 PM
Well I only walked 3 miles yesterday and bagged today. don't know why i couldn't get motivated. I ate way too much today, like I just couldn't stop myself. Now I feel too full & tired, yuck! very disappointed in myself. I must get back on track! I am scheduled to walk with a buddy tomorrow am so that will be good but can someone volunteer to be my food police? i don't know what has happened to me, I was off a little with my plan but know I am out of control. all my walking is only burning off what I'm eating:( Why oh why does it always have to be struggle?

DoeWDW
11-16-2004, 11:31 AM
MeMe, I'm struggling too!! You'd think by now it would be easy for us - we've been at this healthy living thing for over a year!! I'm afraid it will never be easy, but being healthy is so worth it. After spending the day with my Mom at the hospital for her gall bladder surgery, I am a little more motivated to stick with my plan! ::yes::

Sounds like you're ready for the half marathon! If you can do 9 miles in 2 hours you'll have no trouble at all with 13+ miles in 3.5 hours! I'll be working hard to keep up with you, so we can chat!

Hope your Tuesday is terrific!! :sunny:

11-17-2004, 09:14 AM
thanks Terry I keep forgetting that:p day by day right!

Made it throught the nite with min snacking a few graham pretzels & coffee. The evenings have been so hard I think because it gets dark so early & it's too cold for me:mad: I am truly a summer person, give me sun & a beach! And what is with the day light savings time:rolleyes: do we really need to still do this? wouldn't everyone prefer to have it lighter later than earlier so when they come home from work there is still time to enjoy the outside, who do I contact to change this?

Anyway lots of errands today, maybe I'll get in some type of exercise, hmmm. Eating will def be op!

11-17-2004, 12:02 PM
Hey, MaryEllen! How are you doing?:wave2:

OK, I hate to rile you all up and create conflict with a WISH buddy, but I just CANNOT allow you to call the Powers That Be and get rid of day light savings time. :p Daylight Savings is GREAT because 1.) You get a whole hour of extra sleep (we'll forget about that whole "spring ahead" thing for now) and 2.) When you have to get your teenager out of bed at 5:45 it's nice to be able to see dawn a-coming. For the moment, I'm choosing to ignore the "dark tunnel syndrome" that I feel when I'm leaving work at the end of the day and my odd need to be in bed at 8:30.

Just my honest opinion.

Too bad we couldn't have walked today. It's sure :sunny: and warm, isn't it? We still have to get together so I can listen to every single detail of your cruise!

Erin

geetey
11-17-2004, 04:45 PM
Here's a solution. We can keep the earlier sun rise (I can sleep through the sun shining in my window) but not let the sun set until 7:30ish! What do you think? I think it might be easier to slow down the sun, than get the Powers That Be to change daylight savings time. :p

Terry,
the other summer person :sunny:

Auntmeme
11-17-2004, 05:55 PM
I agree with Terry! why can't we have both???? Oh I feel for you Erin, the teenage nightmare;) I remember dreading to get up before the break of dawn to go sit & listen to some boring old person:p Oh let's get together soon:wave:

Well just returned from errands so I missed walking in the beautiful weather and now it is dark:mad: we'll walk tomorrow:hyper:

Hi Terry, thanks for stopping in. I'll check for your email.

Weekend is rainy, yuck:( I'll have to walk the treadmill. I have a b-day party today so will need to walk after. Eating is still an issue, snacking at night on carbs. Not losing any pounds though clothes fit well. Not the skinny jeans but I'll get there, just taking longer than expected:rolleyes:

geetey
11-20-2004, 12:02 PM
:umbrella: Me Me. I hope the rain goes away and the :sunny: comes out for you soon.

One of these times I am going to have to walk in the rain. What if it rains for the marathon? I will have no idea what to expect.

Have fun at your party today. May they have healthy choices for you!! Keep drinking your water! There will be less room for those late night carbs. ;)

Auntmeme
11-20-2004, 07:37 PM
I hear you Terry. I did have not so low fat or low carb at the party but just walked 2.5 miles. Started to drizzle, really sprinkle, so I walked faster:) Here's to better choices & longer walks tomorrow:teeth:

Wow haven't been herre for days. It's tom and I feel like s... I walked 3.5 yesterday but for the week my total is a little over 10 miles and it should be over 20. I will do better this week! Food wise I'm eating carbs again in moderation and really should cut them out, they are my evil foods :guilty: and I know it but can't help myself. It's like I just have to have. My goal this week is to focus on eating low carb and walking over 20 miles.

lulu201
11-29-2004, 08:56 AM
:cool1: You can do it, MeMe! Yes, you can! :cheer2: Walk that walk, girlfriend!

Sounds to me like you're in the thick of a carb addiction moment. They ARE evil and can just drive you to destruction unless you intentionally cut back like you're doing. BE STRONG! You know it'll be worth it.

So you're going to walk 20 miles this week? That's a great goal. Me? Well, I don't have a goal, but you're inspiring me. How about I go for 15. If I hold you to yours, will you hold me to mine?

Enjoy your Monday and give my best to that little guy in the stroller. :D

Thanks Doreen & Terry :wave2:

I'm sorry to say no walk yesterday & needed it to make goal this week. DS is sick and I can not take him anywhere so I'm kinda stuck in the house, DH is working and when I did get to do errands, I had to go to Kohls :flower: needed to spend the $20 coupon that was expiring. Today I hope to get out, either to use DM's tm or to the park, mywalking buddy is MIA she really was keeping me motivated. If I do 13 miles today I will make my goal for the week, I may try to break the miles up, still counts right?

Eating too much, need to watch portion control. All the christmas decorations are out & need to go up, dh got a tree yesterday  need to trim it & move it. So much to do & only so many hours in the day, & I hate how it gets dark early pirate:

DoeWDW
12-05-2004, 10:05 AM
MeMe, you're starting to sound a bit frazzled. It will all get done - honest!

Yes, your miles count, even if you break them up throughout the day. That's often a good way to fit more mileage into a busy schedule.

You asked if DH walked with me or if I listened to music yesterday. I walked all by myself and had only my thoughts to keep me entertained. I did pick up my puppy at Mile 6 and dropped her back at the house at Mile 7. Does she count as company?? :p I walked from 8 AM to 11:15 AM - just kept doing a 1 mile loop every 15 minutes. Every time I went by my house, I'd decide if I could do just one more.

I do hope your little guy is feeling better soon!

Enjoy your Sunday!

How's Parker doing? Poor little guy. I hope he's feeling better soon.

Sorry about your walking partner. . .when it's warmer again, we'll have to get back into some Friday walking. That is, if you're still interest in walking after the Big Event.

How was Kohls? I hope you managed to get some bargains! My dd and I hit Kohls for some jeans for her. Not the best sale on jeans, but better than nothing! We couldn't wait for a better deal -- we definitely need pants here!

Hi girls princess:

Kohls was great, love shopping! Bought a few items on clearance, wearing one shirt now :flower1: will save one shorts & shirt combo for disney.
Walked 5.5 miles sunday and 3 miles yesterday. Raining a little toooooo much! Weight is holding steady, no loss to report should really do something drastic. With all the holiday cookies and dinners It will be difficult to do anything drastic now. Ds is somewhat better still not normal and I had a touch of cold but feel fine now. Oh how I wish it was sunny.

Love to walk again Erin! when the snowy weather is gone, ok? and I plan to sign up for some walk event around here to keep me active. I need to research that!

The weather is bitterly cold here in STL. Wind chill in the teens. I guess it is a good thing DH made me buy a coat yesterday. I am still in denial about living somewhere with a cold climate!
With the cold comes the struggles in training. The last couple of days haven't gone well for me. I marched in place for an hour while watching tv. Do you think that would count towards our marathon training?!?! :o :teeth:

I think my winter hibernation mode has kicked in! :p Unfortunately, my bad carby winter eating habits have also kicked in! :p

My walking buddy is still missing, she is slacking and won't call me :sad2: It is amazing how time flies. Happy New Year Terry - so excited to get to meet you :Pinkbounc

Trying to eat sensibly before wdw trip and walking a little, have to save energy for the half marathon :cool1: when I return on the 12th I commit to beig more faithful with this journal. Journaling helped me tremendously. For some reason writing down whatyou eat makes it real  I want & need to lose at least 20 pounds. I will also plan to walk additional events, such as 5k etc. Though I have not lost all the weight I wanted to, I feel so healthy.

I have truly enjoyed training for the 1/2 marathon, yes it was hard sometimes but the challenge won over. I spent more time outside enjoying the beautiful sights & sounds of my local state park & town, I had the best tan ever :cool1: My son also enjoyed his time in the park, though he slept through alot of it :D We saw horses, deer, geese even a snake. I appreciated my walking buddys who kept good conversation to whittle the time, thanks Erin & Pam :flower1: Thanks to Doreen for that first long one in Doylestown. I have learned so much about walking & shoes & feet, never knew there was all that information or thought I cared to know. I learned to challenge myself & how to stay focused on the goal. Most important I learned how wonderful people truly are, complete strangers who I call friend. My fellow wishers have inspired & motivated me. People who I have never met, have made me cry, laugh & smile :grouphug: reading about challenges & success & then posting my own have been a part of my routine. I will miss, truly miss  the adventure. Though the 1/2 marathon has yet to begin I feel as though my journey has ended.
OK - who is up for a new adventure ;)

Hope to see you at the starting corral, otherwise I will see you in the W tent at the end!! :cool1:

Thanks girls! I will see you at Trails end, not sure if I'll have time to rcheck the boards, so I'll take whatever room they give & just meet you Doe :D

Tried shorts on last night & no go - too tight, they had just started fitting again in the summer :guilty: I know I have gained a few pounds back but come on. so I packed without the jean shorts, everthing else was fine. when I get back I will need to buckle down. I am nervous but excited. Off to finish up & then we are out of here :cool1:

I had the same experience with my shorts! They fit well over the summer but I've gained some weight since then. I left them at home. :(

No worries - we'll tackle that problem when we get home! ::yes::

See you soon!!

MaryEllen, I know you're still enjoying WDW but I wanted to pop in and tell you what a joy it was to see you this weekend! I'm so glad I got to be with you during the whole half-marathon experience, from boarding the bus in the wee hours of the morning, to getting back to the resort. You definitely helped me set a great pace and made the 3+ hours fly by!

I'm still thinking about the half in Philly next September....not ready to commit until my muscles stop aching! :teeth: I hope we can get together for some walks this spring and summer.

Ease back into the real world gently.

Hi girls - thanks for stopping by :grouphug: We did get back late on tuesday and I have finally jumped back into journalling. I need to if I'm every getting into my skinny jeans/shorts  WDW was wonderful - I had a great marathon experience & a great trip overall(minus a few glitches) & I met a few wishers :flower1:

I did start lc on wednesday but then reality hit & I hosted a 40th b-day dinner last night for my bf & she wanted mexican. Is there lc mexican???? tonight is her surpirse party with her family & it is at an italian rest, is there lc???? I am doomed :guilty: So I pledge to start again on sunday even though there will be snacks for the eagles game - Go Eagles :cheer2: I have yet to exercise since the marathon, my legs were slightly sore that night & the next day but nothing stopped me from going to MGM & riding ToT & RRC. I felt really good overall & very happy to have a Donald Medal! I now want a Mickey medal but the idea of 26.2 miles scares me, maybe in 2007. I will do the philly marathon & hope Erin & Doreenwill too.

Off to begin my late morning

:cool1: I'm seriously thinking I'm going to do this Philly walk, MeMe. I feel so darn left out of the WDW Half talk that I don't think I can stand to let another half pass me by! Do you think you'd be interested in some darn serious training this spring and summer? I'm sick of being fat and I want to be a LEAN MEAN WALKING MACHINE!

Did you know there's some walking event in Allentown, too? Maybe we can talk Doreen into that as well! Your medal display is going to get awfully crowded. . .

Keep me posted as to what you're interested in. . .

Hey Girlie - I pm'd you!

Low Carb Mexican is hard - and I LOVE mexican food with a passion. You can always do Chicken Ala Amanda - chicken strips (I buy the ones for salad in the meat section), salsa, cheese - microwave until cheese is melted - mix up and add sour cream. Guacamole is very low in carbs and very high in vitamins - you can eat this with low carb chips or with Cheese Crisps. You can always order Fajitas and not eat the tortillas.

Well the weekend did me in again - this has to stop! You don't even want to know about the mexican, italian, choc cake & than left over mexican  so today I start anew.
B- 1 sl lc toast, lc ketc, 2 sl bacon & 1 eg wh, coffee w/ cream & I plan to hit dm tm later today, I hate this cold weather.

thanks for the pm Amanda - I'm off to look at that pic :cool1:

I checked out all sorts of walks yesterday and there are a few to choose from in this area - the oned we are loking at is not the philly marathon, this only has a full marathon. This race is jefferson Hospital distance run and you need to keep at least a16 min pace, this is doable - so yes Erin I'm in if you want to begin planning.Sun Sept 18th.

There is also the Broad Street Run on Sun May 1st. This is 10 miles but had a sub-15 min/mile requirement. Can we do a 14 min mile?

April16th there is the Ocean City MD marathon which has a half-marathon option - I don't see any pace info - I may check this out & try to do a weekend thing.

There is a list of 5k races at www.bucks5kseries.com, I see people with baby strollers but not sure if they are all runners or allow walkers. There is a doylestown one in May.

This one is a definite for me - a 5k walk/run at Tyler State Park, right across from my house - how convenient. check out http://www.helmuthfoundation.org/.

There is a NJ marathon weekend in april. it does not include a 1/2 marathon but does have a 10 mile walk/run, http://www.njmarathon.org/fitwalk.htm, I may do this instead of MD, it is the same weekend.

I want to do as many as i can to keep my commitment and training inline. Though most do not have medals I'll collect certficates

Hi, MeMe, you walking machine! :cool1: I emailed the J. Helmuth organization re: the walk in Tyler--the dates on the website were for last year. When I hear what they've got going for this year, I'll let you know. That would be a fun and easy walk, wouldn't it?

I also emailed the OC, MD folks. That would be great, too, if they allow walkers in the Half. I asked them if they had a pace requirement. Again, when I hear something I'll let you know. It sounds like a beautiful walk.

Also, there's supposed to be some half in Allentown. That's a driving distance that's certainly doable. I want to find out more. . .

Spring is coming, MeMe, and then we'll be out there in the fresh (warm) air and we'll be unstoppable!

Have a good day,
Erin

MeMe, you'll get back on track - I just KNOW it!! It's extra hard with the cold weather but when the temps warm up, we'll be outside walking again - YAY!!

Once you see the scale start to move, it's extra motivating to stick with your eating plan. Just commit to 2 or 3 days of on plan eating and then the momentum will help you keep going.

All those walking / running events - HOW COOL!! I really like the idea of getting to see each other a few times a year AND staying motivated to keep up our exercise. What a wonderful inspiration the WDW Half has turned out to be!

 and some extra warm :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: for your day, dear MeMe!

Hi Meme,

It was so great meeting you at Trails end! I wish we could have had more than a few moments to talk. I'm definately interested in doing some of these walk's.

Here is some info on the Allentown 1/2 on April 24th!
My DH doesn't have guards this day so that's good. We would need to start training soon as the 14 week training would be yesterday!! I did start the marathon training yesterday for the walk/run half marathon in anticipation that I may want to do this race. I just have to figure out what the time limit is. Since I made up my own training and the fact that I was thinking about doing this race I'm so confused on whether to do the post race training or the begining training.

I also looked at the results for the Allentown race last year there were around 2600 (Aprox. -I can't remember exactly how many). There were places up to about 2100. The chip times shown were about 3:16 for the highest. The year prior I think there was a chip time of about 3:29? Something like that. There were about 1000 more people who did it in 2004 than did in 2003.

Well, I did Mon all lc about 23 grams for the day. I walked/jogged on tm yesterday 2 miles but I took ds to the movies & had to have popcorn. How do I solve this problem, never go to the movies  how many carbs in a popcorn?????

I am lcarbing today, I measured myself today but i hate my scale so will wait to hit dm's scale. Snow & very low temps have taken over the outside world. I will need an inside plan if I can not drive to dm for her tm. Is it back to walking dvds???? it is still snowing - I HATE WINTER!!!!

I am excited to see Erin & Doreen going for the OC 1/2 marathon, a 17 min pace, easy right Doe :cool1: what are your plans????

Melanie - nice to meet you also. Can you come down for the 5k in Tyler Park in May? The Allentown one is out for me too - that pace is too quick for such a long distance, maybe next year.

Hey meme. doing good! The movies is hard for me too. What a habit to break! My only suggestion, is kinda lame but theres always pork rinds! Not sure if you even like them but its doable. I went to the movies last week and went with 2 friends that were watching themselves, they didnt buy anything so I didn;t half way through the movie, I got up and got some coffee. I once brought cheese (cubed and peperoni) that worked well, as long as you have something to eat there your fine......

bad news about my trip to the movies, later that night I caved and had some popcorn, Ok the whole bag! lol.
anyway, of all the chips/snacks I dont think popcorn is too bad.
I hear about the weather I am in near by new york and its depressing! Anything it takes though, if you have to take out those walking tapes, do it! sounds like your doing great!

At this point the OC half looks like a girls only trip on my end. Erin & I are planning to share a room. MelanieC is also interested in going, I believe. I also think Kimickey and pixiechick are talking about going. Check out the thread on the main WISH board. Maybe you can find someone to share a room with?

I know what you mean about winter-- YUCK! I always have good intentions to bundle up and get out there... but good intentions don't burn calories

Thankfully I never get munchie during movies so I am able to avoid popcorn. You might want consider making some microwave popcorn before the show and taking it in a ziplock bag that way you know exactly how many carbs you are eating ;)

Good job on the OC half marathon! You guys are gonna rock. Wish I could be there with ya!

Well I had all good intentions yesterday  Schedule was off so ate a lunch of hotdog at target, not great but well & then was a dm for dinner and they served shrimp, veggies & a clam soup oh yeah a glass of wine. So not too bad but not what I had in mind. I did 2.5 on the tm. Also ate a few chex & pretzels when I got home, tom & craved the crunch & salt :guilty:

I did but a tae-bo dvd - figured I'll let him kick my butt into shape :D It is freezing her about 8 degrees and feels colder. Yes Doe ds loves the snow but mommy will be inside, he can help dh shovel.

Melanie, I think the tyler park race website has info from last year. Are you for sure for the OC MD?

Terry what are you doing? how's the weather out there?

Plan for today - stay inside :cloud9: under the blankets & watch movies - maybe My Best Friend's wedding & Ghandi (it's 3 hours so maybe I'll hop on my bike)

B- I'd love some oatmeal - how many carbs?

Hi MeMe!
I think I am going to do the Spirit of St Louis marathon. The time requirement is the same as WDW, so that's okay. I have started training but haven't registered yet. I have to get the 'okay' from the doctor. I am going to drive the course and see exactly how hilly it is. The temps for the summer don't get too high, I might join Amanda for the Lewis & Clark half as well!

How was the movie marathon? I hope you got to stay indoors, nice and warm. :) STL didn't get any snow, but the winds this weekend were wicked! Enough to take your breathe away at times!

Hi Meme,

Yep I'm definate on the OC MD Marathon. I signed up on Friday! YIPPEE!! I will be going down with DH and the kids. I had asked them to go along and then tried to tell him I could go down by myself and just hang with "the girls" but I think he was actually hurt that I didn't want them to go. Now that I have had more time to think about it, I think it's good that they can be there for me at the end of the race because I know they wont' be at the Philadelphia Distance Run or Disney next year. I'm looking forward to a nice weekend and I hope the weather is really nice!! It's sure nice to have something to look forward to in the spring.

For the Tyler Park one, let me see if I can find an e-mail address. It would be nice to have a nice 3 mile walk to do that time of year.

I'm with you on not going outside to "play" in this weather. Usually I'm one of the first ones out on the hill with my kids to snowsled, but darn it was WAY to cold. I"m glad my kids are older now and can go out behind my house to do that without me being out there with them now! My kids had such a fun weekend. A few of the "girls" in the neighborhood all slept over at my neighbors house for a snow sleepover. My daughter doesn't have anyone her own age in the neighborhood, so I'm glad she gets along with the younger ones. The other two girls are 10 & 11 so they aren't too far off.

MeMe will be kickin' butt with TaeBo!!! WOO HOO!! You go, girl!! Just be careful with those punches & kicks. Most people really put their "all" into them and overextend. You should stop just short of full arm or leg extension - you've got to "pretend" there's a solid target just short of full extension. Use your muscles (like biceps) to power out and then your other muscles (like triceps) to stop short before overextension. Have I confused you yet? :scratchin

Oatmeal first thing in the morning isn't too bad for you, but the longer cooking old fashioned oats are better than the quick-cooking kind. They take longer to digest, so your blood sugar won't spike as bad. I haven't looked up the carbs in a while but they aren't too high. Just watch portion size. Hot oatmeal sure is appealing with these cold temps!! ::yes::

Hope you have a great day!! :sunny:
