View Full Version : Any plans for Indiana or Ohio meets in the fall?

I missed the June Indy meet and the Cincinnati meet last weekend. Any plans for something in the fall?

Figmentvi is going to the Yankee Peddler Festival in Canal Fulton on September 20th. I'm sure that she wouldn't mind if some other DISers showed up. :teeth:
(And neither would I)

Canal Fulton is about an hour south of Cleveland. The festival is held the first 3 weekends after Labor Day from 10AM to 6PM.

And of course, it's the reason that I'm "Towncrier". That's what I do for the three weekends of the festival.

Sounds great, John! I think you need to make that official!!! Chicago had MamaJoan-Con...Ohio can have Figmentvi-Con!

That sounds pretty neat..might have to consider it...
I think I am back in dis meet mode again..

How about the Renaissance Festival which is in Waynesville Ohio??(Halfway point? between Cincinnati & Columbus in between I-71 & I-75)
I've been pushing this for awhile and even had a thread out there for it...

Until I get the swim team schedule (early Sept) can't commit to anything due to meets

Just stay away from the 1st week in November(election day) and the Chicago meet and anything is possible...:)

I think the Renaissance Festival starts this weekend and we were possibly thinking on September 6th...
Let me know who wants to go because I can get coupons at Kroger for a few dollars off...:)

I may be interested in coming to ren fest if work allows. I can also help get coupons I'd assume since my DH works at Kroger.

It would be great if we could get more DIS'ers to go to the Yankee Peddlar Festival on the 20th. We already have 3....myself, Holly (sydally9367) and Towncrier. This is our big chance to see Towncrier AS the Towncrier !!!!!

As for the Renaissance Festival, Krogers is offering $3.00 of admission if you purchase the tickets at Krogers. When we went previously there was one weekend that it was buy one get one free, I guess that has been done away with:( .

Both of those really do sound very doable to me! I keep telling John some year I will have to make it up there to see him as "Towncrier" so this year is as good as any ;)

Ren Fest is close enough to me as well I could go for the day.

Glad you started this Nancy, my calendar was looking very bare for September :teeth:

Linda (and others) - This is how the Memorial Day DISmeet picnic at our house got started. Nancy and Barry (perfectmatch300) posted something on the DIS about being in NE Ohio to go to an amusement park and they wanted to know if anyone could join them. I suggested a picnic at our house and sent out the invitation on the boards. The next thing you know, our Memorial Day picnic is an annual DIS event.

So I'm overjoyed that so many people are going to try to make it to Yankee Peddler this fall.

We would love the Ren Festival but my MIL comes into town for a week on September 20th. The colonial festival sounds just as fun too. I keep meaning to go visit my brother in VA for a dose of that but we just haven't done it yet.

I'm curious, Linda...what brings you all the way to Ohio from the Virgin Islands? Whatever the reason, I'm glad you and Holly will be there. :)

Hey Nancy !!!! DH and I are coming to Akron for my MIL's 81st birthday. We're having a small family reunion.

It's going to be an event packed weekend. We come into Cleveland late on the 17th, breakfast with John and his DW Sue the next morning, then drive down to Akron. Thursday is MIL's birthday festivities, then Friday we go to the Red Sox/Indians game, Sat. we go to the Yankee Peddlar Festival, Sat. night we go to see BIL and SIL perform with the Akron Symphony, Sunday's another birthday festivity and Monday we fly back to the V.I. We'll be celebrating Holly's birthday too. Her birthday is on the 11th.

Whew..... I'm exhausted just typing it.

Hope to see you there !!!!

Linda - your plans sound wonderful, but exhausting! Thank goodness for family reunions!! I'm tentatively planning on doing this. :)
