Same price for an upgraded lakeview, $139/night, which hotel (Dolphin or Swan)would you choose and why?

I have stayed at both and like both equally. We were with extended family(8 of us stayed on CL) at the Dolphin. It was just DH and me at the Swan a couple of weeks ago. It seems that families like being at the Dolphin and the Swan presents itself smaller and more sedate - great for adults only trip. However, I saw many families at the Swan, too. I just can't pick one over the other.

Rehab is done at the Swan and they have Heavenly beds the best beds in the hotel industry. Not sure when you are going but I heard that by the end of the year the Dolphin will have their renovation done. If the price was the same I would choose the Swan but its up to you since the buffeteria is in the Dolphin

We will be there early September. I did ask about re-hab and was told all the Dolphin was not complete. Is there only one "buffeteria" or does Swan have one also? (Not that important since location has many dining options.)

The buffeteria, laundry and grotto pool is at the Dolphin. You can only get your mug refilled at Tubbis at the Dolphin.

So, it will depend on who is going and what you want. We stayed at the Dolphin in June with me, DH and my 2 girls (11 & 8) and we much preferred the Dolphin due to its location of the above mentioned things. But if you are going with no kids, or don't plan on using those things, I might stay at the Swan with the newly renovated rooms and the Heavenly Beds.

Check out the Swan/Dolphin FAQs that is a "sticky" at the top of the Resort board. It gives lots of information that might help you make your decision.

If you can get a renovated room and want some of the Dolphin family features, go with the Dolphin. For the same price, I think I would pick the Swan because they have the heavenly beds. You run the risk of being near where the renovation is being done. That is what happened to us and DS wouldn't nap because of the construction noise. Staff was very nice about it though and offered us several options--we took a $50 room credit because we didn't want to change rooms.

There is a walkway from the Swan to the Dolphin pool and buffeteria. The walk may be just as far from the Swan as it is from the East Wing of the Dolphin.
