A strong afternoon storm left streets and some cars in downtown Kissimmee under water Saturday, the result of a soggy weather system expected to drench much of Central Florida again today.

Kissimmee police officials said several intersections washed over, and dozens of cars were stranded in the high waters. Residents in the McLaren Circle area reported water seeping into homes and apartments, but police said water was receding around downtown Saturday evening.

Two to three inches of rain fell in less than an hour starting about 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Jason Houlberg, 22, said his car had about two feet of water inside it after the downpour. Shortly before the storm, he parked his black 1990 Mazda MX6 in the lot at his apartment complex on East Central Avenue.

It was flooded when he returned from moving furniture about an hour later.

"I'm driving it now and it's barely driving -- it's making all kinds of weird noises," Houlberg said.

Before Saturday's storm, Kissimmee had received about 3.45 inches of rain since Aug. 1, the weather service said.

About 6.5 inches of rain had been recorded since Aug. 1 at the Orlando International Airport as of 5 p.m. Saturday.

"It came down in buckets real fast," said forecaster Randy Lascody, National Weather Service forecaster.

Because of the heavy rains, the weather service issued a flood warning for Kissimmee on Saturday afternoon. Lascody said the three-hour warning that expired about 5 p.m. could be just the first for the area this weekend.

Its all about ying-yang!!!

We have amazing weather and somewhere else has to suffer our weather!!!

Any Floridians reading this, come over to England! Alton Towers isn't that bad, and we have nice weather for about 2 weeks out of 52 in a year!
