MrsMG, we always bring our nebulizer just in case too. Asthma aside, my kids are pretty healthy, but we all got sick last year at the end of our cruise. We went to urgent care that Saturday and my 9month old had his first ear infection. I hadn't packed any pain medication or garlic drops because I never would have expected that from either of them. This year I'll have a whole pharmacy in my bag!

Welcome Suzanne. Our DisMeet is getting scary big:scared1:

I never in my wildest dreams figured there to be sooooo many of
us. It's too cool.

Hope all the newbies will make an appearance at out DisMeet. In case you weren't aware it is in the Prominade Lounge from 2:30-3:30ish, just prior to the safety drill.

I will be passing out the requested door signs at this time and there will be a few other interesting things going on. Hope to see everybody there.

OK, I think the Radisson staff is pulling the wool over our eyes!   I called at 9pm tonite and booked the 10am shuttle also! Either the vans are big enough for 20 people each or some of us will not have a shuttle reservation when we get there!:earseek: I asked if there was some reservation number for the shuttle and they said "no". Oh well, guess we'll see in "990hrs"!!:teeth:

We booked the Radisson shuttle about a month ago. We booked for 10 people at 10:30 am. Does anyone know if they are actual shuttle buses or just large passenger vans? I thought I heard somewhere that they were investing in bigger shuttles. I didn't get a reservation number wither, they just asked my name and which cruise line we were using. Hope it's not a free for all at boarding time.

adisneymama
10-04-2004, 09:26 AM
Sue - DH and I were thinking the same thing. Will definitely get up and get down there a little early, especially since they are providing a car seat for us. They didn't give me a res# either. Just asked the same ?'s. And made a note in our room res that we have a 10 am shuttle booked and need the car seat.

Good Morning! I will be glad when this week is over! DH car still isn't fixed, so he has mine UGH! (Not that I go anywhere, but I do like having the ability, KWIM?) DH will be off all next week, so that will be nice at least!

Well, the munchkin wants food. I'll check back later.

P.S. Vicki - I just realized I never responded about the loss of your friend. I am so sorry! My brother has already done 1 tour in Iraq is in Korea now and suppose to be discharged next July after 10 years of service. Well he just found out they may not let him out, he may have to go back to Iraq for another year! This war is very sad, but yet so many good things have come to the Iraqi people at the same time. All the soldiers over there stay in my prayers constantly. Pixie dust to you and your family!

Hi All!
Such a big group we've become - what fun!

Vicki, I'm sorry for your friend's loss; prayers and pixie dust your way.

Susan, re: Pats/Bills. I have nothing to say. except that I don't know how much more of this DH can take!!!

This was posted on another thread - had to share it here! Jeanna, maybe you can get us a group rate on this nursing home:

There will be no nursing home in my future.........

When I get old and feeble, I am going to get on a Princess Cruise
Ship. The average cost for a nursing home is $200 per day. I have checked on reservations at Princess and I can get a long term discount and senior discount price of $135 per day. That leaves $65 a day for:

1. Gratuities which will only be $10 per day.

2. I will have as many as 10 meals a day if I can waddle to the
restaurant, or I can have room service ( which means I can have
breakfast in bed every day of the week).

3. Princess has as many as three swimming pools, a workout room,
free washers and dryers, and shows every night.

4. They have free toothpaste and razors, and free soap and shampoo.

5. They will even treat you like a customer, not a patient. An
extra $5 worth of tips will have the entire staff scrambling to help you.

6. I will get to meet new people every 7or 14 days.

7. T.V. broken? Light bulb need changing? Need to have the mattress
replaced? No problem! They will fix everything and apologize for
your inconvenience.

8. Clean sheets and towels every day, and you don't even have to ask for them.

9. If you fall in the nursing home and break a hip you are on
Medicare. If you fall and break a hip on the Princess ship
they will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.

Now hold on for the best! Do you want to see South America, the
Panama Canal, Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, or name where you wantto go? Princess will have a ship ready to go. So don't look for me in a nursing home, just call shore to ship.

P.S. And don't forget, when you die, they just dump you over the side at no charge

Happy Monday Everyone! :wave2:

Athene, glad to know my son has two birthday mates that day. He's actually a bit annoyed to be going on the cruise on his birthday! We are taking 10 friends to see The Incredibles the week before, instead of a big birthday party.

I am going to try and be at the meeting at 2:30 on the 13th, perhaps when my husband is decorating our stateroom.

SuzPasq

I don't know if this is old news to any of you, but I just called DCL to find out if we're docking or tendering in St. Thomas. I found out that we'll be docking at Havensight Mall, which helps with my pre-planning.

I didn't realize that most of the excursions don't allow kids under 3 (all but one)--when it didn't give a price I thought that kids under that age were free. I guess it's a good thing that we were planning our own thing.

When I called, I was fortunate to get a great agent named Jason, someone that my husband and I both worked with when we started our careers at the Disney Reservation Center almost 11 years ago!

cjsmom97
10-04-2004, 06:31 PM
Is this a good thing or a bad thing that we are docking at Havensight Mall? Can't say that I have looked that closely, yet.

adisneymama
10-04-2004, 06:48 PM
I think it is a good thing. My understanding is that if you have to tender, then you get off the disney ship to load onto a smaller "boat" to get to shore and then the same thing to get back on the ship. But if you dock at Havensight Mall, then you simply exit the ship. Somebody please correct me if I am mistaken. If I'm right, hope that helped! LOL

How was everyone's Monday?

Correct...this is a good thing....u just walk right off the ship......so more time onshore and less waiting in line for the tender.
Plus, the tender ride can be rocky depending on the seas....so yes,,,it is VERY good! :jester: :jester: :jester:

Everyone have a good week and give an extra {{{HUG}}} to your loved ones......::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Evening everyone! One more week under our belts and the cruise moves ever closer. I've been working like crazy trying to get spending money and such together. The funny thing is, I finally get off work (after 12 hour shift) and instead of going home I come to my parent's office soI an check the boards and see how everyone is doing.

Vicki, I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your friend's rother. Prayers and good wishes are with his family and friends as they go through this difficult time.

I think the tag idea is really cool. I definately want to meet others on this cruise and that seems like another great way to do it.

Susan, Not to add to your luggage but, the towels on the ship are standard size. (I couldn't remember if this was your first cruise or not). You may want to bring your aboard if you want bigger towels for after swimming or anything.

Suzanne, welcome to another memer of the group. Hope to see you at the meet!

PoohJen, Congratulations on the Patriots. Although I'm a Cowboys fan, my good friend and workmate Chris is a huge Patriots fan so we all end up cheering for them. One more game...

Phew, I think that was everything on the little note I jotted while reading. LOL I finally got plane tickets so now I know that I'm flying to Orlando on Friday and staying at Disney before taking the shuttle to the port.

From 4 1/2 years of working for the Disney Store (and many more of just shopping there), I have "several" (read: I can't remember how many) snowglobes and other breakables. So we were at IKEA this weekend (after a stop at the Disney Store) scoping out a second cabinet. Now we just have to decide where they will go. PoohJen, Congratulations on the Patriots

Jen is a Bills fan. I was rubbing in the fact that the Patriots whipped up on the Bills bad yesterday.

Jen tell your husband they will have to turn the tables in Nov. There is still hope.

Can anyone recommend the nicest hotel beach near Havensight Mall? We'll have a stroller for our 1yo, but our 7yo probably can't be counted on to walk too far. My husband has travel industry privileges (where is spell check?) and someone mentioned that if he contacts a hotel ahead of time they will let us use the beach/restroom/restaurant facilities for the day. I'd appreciate any suggestions as I'm having a hard time finding a good map of the area.

Also, how can I add pictures to my posts, either in the body or to the left, under my name? Thanks!

Welcome LovinLife! We look forward to meeting you!:sunny:

Okay, I risked life and limb this morning to bring y'all a shot of the Wonder in drydock here in Norfolk (read: I took pictures everytime I hit the brakes while in bumper to bumper traffic across the channel from the Wonder) (funny: the guy in front of me had a bumper sticker that said "Get off the phone and drive!". Anyway, two problems: first, my ##@@!!! batteries were dead, i only got one picture. second, I don't know how to upload/download it onto this post!:badpc: :rolleyes1

It's only 33 days til we leave for WDW. If you want your sign created and/or printed and are not listed above, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
send a PM to me or Susan and let us know. I don't want to be printing signs on Sunday morning before we leave. Suggested payment for said door signs is a 20oz bottle of Mt Dew, green preferred but red and purple work too. LOL::yes::

If you don't know how to send a PM then you can email either of us at: gunner40047@yahoo.com or gunnersgal2003@yahoo.com and put in the subject line "door signs"

Thank you and plesae do not stand up til the ride comes to a complete stop.

edited to add:
We have 2 door signs and we're not sure who they belong to. One is for the Foster family and one is for the Gaskin family. Would the unidentified please step forward. We are trying to get all these signs organized and we need your help.

Welcome lovinlife.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm beginning to wonder if the Prominade Lounge will be big enough to hold our DisMeet.

I read on another post on the board that there is a group of disers planning on meeting on Deck 10 above the Goofy pool.

Since I have been granted the title of DisMeet Mistress I am asking for your opinions. Do we keep our meet in the Prominade Lounge as previously planned or do we look for somewhere larger.

Keep in mind we look to be about 150 disers deep.

Majority will rule the final decision.

Ok DIS'ers. We just got the template for the Lime Green Mickey Head TAG game.

Since we are printing up the majority of the magnetic door signs we will print this out too, and I will cut it out.

John will add the date of our cruise to the bottom of the head and we will start the game.

Whoever gets tagged last can keep it for a souvenier.

To be able to play this game everybody is going to have to fork over their stateroom numbers.

I believe that Pat (GrayFal) is working on a list that this is included on. Right Pat? or is it Linda who is doing it?

John just told me that this list is available at Hannomoms website Hannomax.com. Just print it out and put in your paperwork folders, binders, tri-folds, or whatever it is OCD people are using these days. LOL

Then after you get tagged you can check to see who hasn't been and sneak it onto their door. What a great suprise to find at the end of a fun day.::yes::

Forgive me for being ignorant, but what exactly does this mean:

DISNEY MAGIC – CASUAL DINING
Casual dining aboard the Magic is now full serve instead of buffet.

I'm assuming they are talking about Topsiders and the such. But are they saying that you have to be seated and waited on or is it like Piccadilly where you go in a line, pick out what you want, and someone serves it on a plate and then gives it to you?

Not to be nosey, but about how much is everyone spending for the gift baskets Shirley is making for the children, and what are you getting put in it? I'm going to do this for my kids, but I wanted an idea of what all I can get for $30, $40, or $50. And I have NO IDEA what to put in my 10yr old DS's basket! He is NOT into sports. Any ideas? Thanks for any info!

KyCruisinSusan
10-05-2004, 07:36 PM
Tina, why don't you just give Shirley a call.

She is a wonderful person and will even give you suggestions on what you can put in the baskets.

We are spending between $30-$40 on the girls beach toys, snacks, bubbles and such. I am also sending her a few items at the end of this month to include with it at no extra charge.

Just call this number 1-800-950-4559 and ask for Shirley.

She is a real angel.

Tina, the Topsiders casual dining (just in case you want to wear shorts for dinner on formal night) used to be a partial buffet, but now it is all waiter and menu. That's just for evening. The buffet still rules for breakfast and lunch.

Ya' know....I've read every post on here. I've been with this group from the beginning and I have to tell you...

I feel more lost now than I did however long ago I first signed onto this thread! (What was that, John...three years ago? LOL)

The things I need to contemplate, the lists that need to be written, decisions that need to be made, stateroom numbers that need to be checked off. It's all too daunting. I now know how someone who has never been to WDW feels when they meet me!!

Maybe next week I'll be able to spend some mental energy on this. But for now....it's back to balancing the check book.

I'm depending on all of you to show me the ropes!! :wave2:

And I can't wait!! :sunny:

Xsydid - why don't you fashion one of those beercan-holding-hats for the extra gin bottle? You can have the gin on one side and the mixer on the other, with convenient straws - all hands-free!

On the other hand, packing all the alcohol in your luggage will leave you plenty of free space upon disembarking for all your new souveniers!

Pat - on its way - sorry I didn't see it earlier (you should've been chatting last nite!)

Wonder Update - I saw her again this morning; we are taking very good care of her here in Norfolk. She looks beautiful and really seems to like the area. Linda, think we can convince DCL to consider Norfolk as its home port?! If not, then maybe just a test drive while she's in town?

Linda - what kind of menu will Topsiders be serving at dinner?

TGI...Wednesday! half way there!

Hello All,

I also think that deck 10 will be fine for the meet. Let's enjoy the sunshine!!

Someone asked what everyone''s plans were for St. Thomas. We are doing Coral World/Coki Beach on our own. Our kids are too young for organized snorkle excursions, so this should work out well for us. We bought a blow up raft so we can lay the kids on it and try to help them snorkle a bit at Coki Beach.

Good Morning!

I'm not sure if I posted about St Thomas or not, LOL but Dh will be playing golf and Aubrey and I are going to do the tram, shop at Havensight and then just relax on the ship until dh gets back.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday! I'll check back in later. Gymnastics this morning...;)

This sounds like so much fun!!! I do have a question however, how do we know who has been previously tagged????

This is going to be our fifth cruise, so I have a few tips to share with those of you who are feeling stressed. But you can't make fun of me because I am a bit obsessive when it comes to trip planning!

I have folders in the memo section of my Palm Pilot that I can pull up throughout the trip. There is one with hotel information (we're staying on property on either end of the cruise). Then there is a folder with info on each port, including Castaway Cay. I add things as I read them and then when it gets closer I weed through and keep the most pertinent info.

I also have a folder to help plan once I'm onboard--things like when to get tickets for tea with Wendy, or where to go for Palo reservations. I also get really specific with little things that I know I'd forget otherwise--there is a thread about food on the Wonder, and I've copied a lot of those posts so that I remember to ask about them (white chocolate dessert?! never remember seeing it on the Magic!)

I print out a copy for my husband and just bring my Palm Pilot with me. I also do a spreadsheet of planned expenses--remember, don't make fun of my obsessiveness!

Tracy you will know who has been tagged previously because when you are tagged you write your screenname on it somewhere before you pass it on.

That is why everybody needs to print out the list from Linda and Ed's website. It will give you everybodies screenname and room number.

First of all, PoohJen - I'm so sorry. I was confused on the teams for football, didn't mean to make fun of your team. They actually had a good game, holding the Patriots at least through the first quarter.

GrayFal, tahnks for forwarding the information on to hannomax. I know hyandui (my parents) have room 7001. I'm only a category 12 GTY. Does anyone know if I find out my room before we cruise? I really want to get involved in the tag game too.

welcome lovinlife! I can't believe how much this thread has grown. I really thought I was going to be one of the last cruisers to sign up and there have been around ten after me. YEAH!! We're going to have so much fun.

Okay all, I'm off. I actually have a night off and I'm headed to a Pampered Chef party. I love their stuff.

Someone please clue me in. I get what PM means, in context, but I don't really know what it is or how you do it! Is tea with Wendy more than one time on our cruise? I remember last year when we went there was some confusion as to whether it was going to be held, and by the time it was decided, we couldn't get tickets. Thanks, Suzanne

Suz - PM is Private Message (or something like that) you just click on the little tab with PM on it below the persons post that you want to pm. It's really simple.
Tea with Wendy is suppose to be more than once from what I have read. HTH!

Jen - LOL!

Ok, got to run!

I spoke with Shirley, from The Perfect Gift, this afternoon. I told her that we have a DisMeet planned at the Radisson in the pool area around 6:30pm on November 12th, and she said that she would have to stop by to meet everyone.

Holy smokes that's a lot of Mt Dew...I'm going to tell my sister to make friends with John as she's a Dew fan too! ::yes:: :p

I was so excited about all the kids activities.
What sign?! Who has a sign?!? :earseek:

Ok gang, I couldn't sleep and so have been up since 4am trying to package each days clothing for the girls. (I put an outfit for every day in a gallon ziplock, force the air out and then throw it in.) I need some help here.

We have 1. Formal Night 2. Semi-formal Night 3. Pirates/Tropical Night

What did I forget? I'm assuming the remainder of the evenings are just "dress appropriately", no theming. Correct?

I can't believe I agreed to go on a vacation where you need to change your clothes at least twice a day!!! :earseek: What was I thinking?!?!:crazy2: :space:

Re: the picture - I took a pic of the Wonder as I rolled by in traffic (it's dry docked here in Norfolk), but didn't know how to post. So Sarah told me to email her and she'd put it on their website. So, no favoritism here! (well, actually, Sarah IS my favorite, since she shares chocolate!)::yes:: :mickeybar

Good Morning eeveryone,

I got my Whale Bag yesterday and it is HUGE, maybe too huge. Vicki, when the bag is full of towels and stuff, is it bulky and awkward to carry around? I was thinking if taking mine to Coral World and Coki Beach but I'm not sure it I want to carry it all that way. They offer a smaller one, Beachy Bag that may be better for me. Maybe I'll see if I can exchange it.

I haven't begun to pack, and fear that I will have too much. Who else is excited to dress for dinner at night? I have a different dress for each night, is this a bit much? I do like the excuse to dress for dinner. Makes it more special to me somehow.

Have a great day everyone. We are off to Panama City Beach this weekend!

Pat, YES, I want a Plap Lap Er Sign!! :sunny: Just how do I get one?!? (And was there a secret code as to who is the Leader of this Banned, I mean Band. lol)

Sue, The Whale Bag is big. I don't know that I'd want to be carrying it around all day long. I love it for getting from point A (the car) to point B (the beach, boat, someone else's pool). With four dd's, it comes in handy for that purpose. Everyone Must have their own towel around here. The people at SaltWaterCanvas are very friendly. I'm sure they'll try and accomodate you any way they can. Perhaps you need two? One for toting all day, one for transporting from one point to another! :teeth: ;)

Thought you'd get a laugh from this:

As you know, the Wonder is here in drydock for renovations. I took a picture, sent it around my office email to taunt those not going on a DCL cruise anytime soon, and here's the guff I got back:

I heard they were taking a look at this ship because the sister ship -Magic- was having so many problems while it was out to sea. The Disney folks thought they might be able to trouble shoot this boat first before hauling the other one in for repairs. The problems include sewage backing up, HVAC systems not working, the stabilization and reverse osmosis systems failing. I have also heard that Mickey and Minnie’s offspring have infested the kitchens. There have been major malfunctions with magic wands and fairy dust causing most shipboard Disney characters to be transformed into little blue Smurfs. In addition, I understand that anyone wishing on a star while on the ship has had the opposite of his or her wish come true. I hope that these problems will be corrected before you go on you trip.

I don't get no respect, I tell ya!

Does anyone know if the in room fridges have a freezer compartment. I would like to bring those freezer cooler pacs for my cooler. They are less messy than ice in the soft sided coolers.

Thanks,

-Liz No freezer, not really a refrigerator,,,more like a cooler....bring gallon size zip-locks and ask your room steward to bring you ice 2 X's per day - put the ice in the zip-lock in the room cooler to keep things cool.
We are also bringing a rolling cooler to use in the room/on deck/on excursions - so the zip-locks will be getting plenty of use.::yes::

I wonder if the room fridge is the same as the medical one, My TA requested a medical fridge for each room (AKL & DCL) as I have to bring enbrel injections that must be refridgerated at all times (I have RA). Does anyone know? I would hate to have to worry that meds are not at right temp. (can't go above or below certain temps.)

Thanks,

Much more eater friendly then escargot!

A crepe is a very thin, sweet pancake that is usually filled with yummy, dessert kind of stuff - like whipped cream and strawberries....another variation is called a ' cheese blintz' (sp) which has a cream cheese-like filling and blueberry jam......
The crepe/pancake is round and flat....good stuff is put on it and rolled like a taco!

All I can say is YUMMY for all of these......not at all like eating a snail (which I also really like!):earseek: :earseek:

Glad the 'new' signs made it thru as one page....Vicki is finalizing hers as well.......Lata'!

No documents here yet, but CONGRATULATIONS to all those that have received them. I think it's a cruel joke on Disney's part to start sending out documents right before a three day weekend when we can't get to the mal because of the locked door!

Ahh, booking another cruise onboard. I keep trying to talk myself out of it because I want to go to Europe in another 1 1/2 years but, will likely rebook while on board. Anyone else?

Susan, Have fun trying the escargot. I know lots of people like it but, I figure...anything that has to be served in a special plate so that it doesn't crawl away is not for me. :earseek:

Does anyone know if they serve "girly" drinks on board? I don't like the taste of most alcohol but do like the Smirnoff Twisteds and Bacardi Raz. I know they didn't have what I was looking for last year so I figured I would ask.

And WOW, I printed out the list of spa treatments and prices... they really have gone up. You have to love the descriptions though. Instead of "mud bath" it is "untrodden earth from Australia" or something like that. I wanted to treat myself to something but, not sure with those prices. Might stick to the Rainforest Room.

St. Marten - Golden Eagle Cataraman, morning trip

St. Thomas - Kayak Marine Sanctuary Tour and Paradise Point Tramway

Castaway Cay - Parasailing (really thought this was going to be booked, have never had the chance to try it on the other cruises) for 10:30 and then the Seahorse Catamaran Snorkel Adventure at 1:15

Carolyn, I tried the escargot last year. They were the ugliest things I've ever eaten. And they tasted like garlic butter rubber bands. John even tried one and was NOT impressed.

Crepes on the other hand sound very very yummy.

They can make girlie froo froo drinks onboard the ship. I myself don't care for the taste of alcohol, but the effects can be fun, so I only go after the fruity or the creamy type drinks.

The Miami Vice was good, that's the only one I remember by name. Going up to Paradise Point, on St Thomas and check out the Bushwacker and Banana Daquires. I have heard wonderful things about both.

Carolyn, my family and I are going on the 1pm G.E. Catamaran trip, and I'm pretty sure someone else is too! I think it is Tracy or Trish! For St. Thomas I would like to go to Paradise Point but will probably do that on our own, since the price is the same there, in case we just want to rest on the boat for a while, before our afternoon excursion...The Doubloon. That sounds like one they had at the Magic Pan. My mom and I used to go almost every other weekend (it was at the mall) and I had a great salad with mandarin oranges and almonds and would have a dessert one...usually vanilla ice cream with chocolate mint sauce!

The other side of our family makes them with lemon juice and sugar...yummy. I had a sugar one at a little stand right near the Eiffel Tower. That was the only French food I had on my brief trip to Paris.

Okay, now I'm hungry...and I'm eating Bran Flakes!

It is one of the appetizers offered at Lumiere's.

I was expecting something like what you see in the snail scene from the movie "Pretty Woman" but they came out in a little plate with 6 holes. Each ugly little one swimming in his own pool of garlic butter.

I actually ate 3 of them, and John tried 1.

Glad I didn't order it at a "pay" restaurant.

Hi Y'all!

re: excursions - We'll be on the early Golden Eagle too! DH and DS Josh will be parasailing on CC, but not til the afternoon (when I booked on day 1, that was all that was left! I'll call them again...)

re: rebooking. We're booked for the Western "special" Aug 19, 2006! Two stops at CC, and an excellent price for the summer! I may "re-book" it while on board, once I do all the math to see if it's worth it!

Linda and Sarah!!! Hope you had fun downtown yesterday - the concert was great, but was missing 3 special people! I had one eye on the front gate the whole time!::yes::

DH tells me a lot of messages kept popping up for me on Friday - sorry, you weren't being ignored! He commandeered the computer that night, and doesn't know about AIM. Next time he can at least say "sorry, Jen's not here!"

SuzPasq

Since we're not really the excursion type, we're doing our own thing in St . Maarten and St. Thomas. Last year, we found it really easy to take the ferry from the port across to the beach. It was ridiculously cheap--maybe $ 3 per person, and our baby was free. The guys there were charging for chairs which seemed really odd, but it was still a very inexpensive way to enjoy a day at the beach. We had our little pop up tent for the baby and he even took a nap in there for a bit. I had packed lunch from a few AHOD's, and we were set!

In St. Thomas, we have been "allowed" the use of two hotels for the day--Frenchman's Reef and another whose name is escaping me. We'll decide which to use after I speak to a friend who lived in St. Thomas for years. We'll just relax at the beach for most of the time, but we also plan to take a taxi tour around Charlotte Amalie and see what catches our eye. We may also do the tram on our own.

:( So sorry Jen, we didn't make it downtown yesterday. DH is trying to get ready for the Poquoson Seafood Festival next weekend, so we spent most of yesterday shopping and planning. His club runs the coffee/hot chocolate/hot apple cider booth, and he is in charge of it.

I was so looking forward to that Pumpkin bisque! Hope you had an extra bowl and a cranberry muffin for me.:D

As for C.C., we are just going to snorkel on our own and enjoy the day!

Yes, we are on the 1:00pm G.E. Cat...Can't wait!!

Tina ~ you are going to have such a GREAT time on The Doubloon. We did the Doubloon last time and LOVED IT! In fact, DH wanted to do it again because we had so much fun the last time we did it. I really just want to see St. John's.

Hope you are all having a great Weekend! I'll check in later.

Oh, and I don't like the new name, makes it sound too far away! LOL I do like the "Eating our way across the Caribbean though! LOL

Hey Debbie, we're planning on doing the tram on our own. We could hook up and decide what time to do it. Then you won't have to be "totally alone". We don't know at this point whether or not the girls will be going with us. That will be up to them. I would like for them to enjoy the sights and gorgeous view, but I'm not going to drag them along whining, if they would rather be in the lab/club playing with new friends.

I booked the hotel we will be staying at the night before we fly to florida, Ordered our park hopper tickets, sent in the tux info for DH to get his tux for formal/semi formal nights, plus reserved our towncar for all legs of our trip! Gotta love it! If there is anyone else staying at the pop century, (and wants to get to the port for when they open) let me know, we got a van, since there are 4 of us plus luggage...

Feenie - You are going to love Pop Century. We stayed there in May. We were in the 50's. Right by the lake! It was very nice. And the nicest thing was that you didn't have to walk all over the place to get to things. Also, the busses only stop at Pop Century! There is only 1 stop instead of multiple stops throughout each resort. We stayed at Caribbean Beach July 03 and while the room was bigger, (not by a landslide) there was a bus stop for each building and it took forever to get to the parks. Not a problem at Pop Century! Have a blast!

Ok, must go to bed now. Hope you all have a good evening.

On Sunday, we finally went to Norfolk to see the Wonder in dry dock. I took some pictures, but they look like poop. PoohJen's beautiful picture is infinately better! DH is working on putting it on our site, if thats ok with you, Jen?

We did get to see Carnival Victory head out on a Bermuda cruise. It was really cool watching it pivot in the middle of the river to head out to the Bay. It is a huge ship! The Wonder looked kinda tiny compared to it, but much more beautiful, of course!

If you had a choice of which decade, which would you choose? Mom and I are staying there for our first time. We have a rental car so I'm not worried about being closest to the bus....actually, come to think of it, we are doing Pleasure Island on the first night. Which of the decades is closest to the bus?

Ok Dis'ers, the general concensus seems to be to go ahead and meet in the Prominade Lounge like was previously discussed.

If we draw a large crowd, then we can move it up to the sports deck on deck 10.

Everybodies door signs have turned out great. I am going to pick up a cheap binder and some plastic page protectors to slide them into. That way when I hand them out, I can give you the sign in the sleeve, and you won't have to worry about finger prints and who knows what else getting on it before you get it back to your door.

John printed and I cut out the green mouse head for Dis Tag. We will place it on someone's door to start the game on Saturday evening. When you find it on your door, please write you screenname/s on it and deliver it to the next persons door. Try to be sneaky about it. Don't get caught:earseek:

And when you sign it, please write small so there will be enough room for everybody. We have a really large group and we want everyone who plays to have room to add their name/s to it.

And somebody remember that at some point the sign will need to make it back to us so we can play too. :hyper:

That's true. It would be 80s for me too. However, I was hoping for 60s (when I was born) because of the Jungle Book stuff. It doesn't really matter that much since you can walk around and look at all of them. We got a deal so we probably won't be in the 60s. I'm sure we'll like it wherever and it's just two nights before the cruise...so it'll likely be overshadowed by the end of the trip anyway!

Thanks for the info.

Hi All, I have a transportation question, sorry if it is a repeat.... I'm still debating on transpotation from AKL to PC to MCO. My TA has told me that we're to be taking the motorcoach on these 2 legs. I hired a limo from MCO to AKL so we don't have to deal with Mears. Has anyone taken the motorcoach? How was it? What time did you get to the ship? Was it in time to make ressies, etc.? Would we be stopping at other WDW resorts to pick up guests? Should I just take a limo on all 3 legs? Help!!!

I just read the last four pages, so I can't remember who suggested a 11/12 DIS meet at WDW. Great Idea! Seeing as there will be a DIS meet going on at the Raddisson, no reason we can't join in in spirit!

Give me a day or two, I'll think on a good place to meet. Wouldn't want anyone to have to purchase a ticket just for a meet.

Let me know how many of you are interested in a Friday night DIS meet at WDW. That will give me a better idea as to a good location.

(Promise to self: zip up two more ziplocks by Tuesday chat time.)

UUUGH, can't post now. Must go to work.

House of princesses (Vicki) - I had posted about meeting at Disney the night before. It would be great if we could get others interested.

lovinlife - I have used the Disney busses for both of my other cruises. It wasn't bad, large motorcoach with a bathroom and they show a video (I think it was about the cruise) while you drive. Let's see. I think we made 1 or 2 other stops each time, but still arrived while they were announcing names as you boarded. Not sure about excursions and stuff though because I've always had someone else booking for me (like last year we have 20 or so disser's for brunch in the side room off of Palos).

Okay, really really really have to go. I have literally 2 minutes before I have to be at work. I'll try to check in tonight.

We haven't cruised yet so I don't know about the motorcoach, but my parents will be on it from the airport. :)

We're renting a car via Budget from MCO to PC and then one back. They do one-way rentals w/o the extra fee...I'm paying $36 for each of the two days I think for a full size...great deal.

Now, that reminds me, I have to figure out how to get from PC to Budget when the ship returns to port...guess I better call. :)

That is a great deal. I am paying $82 for a one day economy rental this week from Budget (MCO, drop off near WDW). AND...it was the only car I could get - I called 4 other companies before Budget, everyone was sold out! (btw, I need the car for work purposes on Thursday, that's why I'm renting it). At this point I'm just glad to have gotten a car!

Now, that reminds me, I have to figure out how to get from PC to Budget when the ship returns to port...guess I better call. :) 11/13/04 Eastern Cruise only 33 more days til we can eat and eat and eat and eat -= Oh JOOHHNNNNNNN

Hi Heather, did u use a special code to get that rate??? Did you book it online?
I am going to go MCO to the Port and then take Disney Transpo back as we have a day room at the Hyatt and will be able to check our luggage at the port.

from Daves website....... http://www.dcltribute.com/carhire/

"#1: Budget
Budget has an on-airport facility in Orlando and a Cape Canaveral facility three miles from the cruise terminal. Budget provides complimentary shuttle service from their Cape Canaveral location to the cruise terminal. Their Cape Canaveral location is only a couple blocks beyond the Radisson.

Budget is the surprise winner of this survey. In the not-too-distant past I had stopped mentioning Budget altogether because the sample quotes I'd gotten in past surveys were much higher than those of Avis, Hertz, or National. In fact, they were ranked #4 in my last survey because their rate came in so high. This time, Budget's sample rate blew everyone else away. Budget catapults to a #1 ranking through a combination of a great sample rate quote and a convenient facility at Cape Canaveral.

Note: I had steered people away from Budget in the past due to anecdotal reports that this facility can be understaffed on cruise days. More recent anecdotal reports have indicated that the service here is perfectly adequate. "

I feel left out of the "got my docs" discussion, so I'll just share that I got my 1yo a blue blazer today. He is going to look so adorable on the formal night! Now I need to track one down for my older son, who is turning 7 on the 13th. I think we are all going to get a little more dressed up for his birthday, hich means I have a reason to buy another dress.

Hey Pat!

When do you need the rental car and from where? I may have an extra reservation for a full size rental from Budget MCO to CC5. With taxes and fees, it came to $28.88 and a coupon for a free upgrade to a premium if it is available. We have made some changes to our reservations and instead of cancelling them, I just booked another. So, I have to go through all of our cars and see what is left. Don't forget, we needed an entire fleet!! :earseek:

ATTENTION PAT, LINDA, AND VICKI.....

Our reservations are once again all linked together. John just got off the phone with Andre at DCL and he has relinked them AGAIN.

He said the only reason he could figure that they were unlinked was because we used different TA's. but he was going to check into it and they are linked at this moment.

Susan, thanks for letting me know about the sign. I sent a reply to the email just a minute ago. Sadly enough I did not make it to work on time. I was only 5 minutes late though and the boss was off today :bounce: :bounce: so it wasn't too bad

I went onto ebay and found a really nice dress for the cruise. Now I just have to convince myself that I really need a new dress instead of wearing the same one from last year. Ahh, excuses, excuses.

I'm so glad that most people are getting their documents (and snorkel gear and new outfits and the such!) Once the stuff starts arriving it seems so much closer. Still nothing here. SIGH. Does anyone know if a category 12 GTY (for poor/ frugal/ cheap suckers such as myself) will get a room assignment once the documents arrive?

Feenie- I would be glad to take pics of your parasailing DH. I'm hoping we're on the same boat. As an avid scrapbooker I want pictures of everything. LOL

One more thing.... My dad was just talking to me about having blinking buttons made for our group for the cruise. They would be about 1 1/2 inch in diameter and we could design them to say anything that we would want. Since we have a big group, it might be a neat idea. That way we would recognize other Dis members.

Oh, sure you just had to go and top me!! LOL :) That's a great rate! I had to go and check mine...$34. I'll have to keep checking. :)

Pat, no, I didn't have a coupon, just kept diligently checking. Budget is strange sometimes....some days I would check it would have every car class listed at 99.99 a day and others it would come up with the great rates. Maybe because cjsmom97 is holding all the ressies! :) ::yes::

[edited: I just checked but nothing lower than $59 at the moment for a full-size. I should note that the rates change depending on what 'special' you choose...kinda frustrating that you have to go thru each and every one.]

Well I got all excited when the UPS guy pulled up yesterday, but it ws Cabelas delivering DHs birthday presents. Good for him though. Are the folks who are getting their docs the folks who booked directly with Disney? I know the TAs get them and then send them out. I hope ours is quick!! In other news, Overstock shipped my rolling cooler, and I decided to send back my Whale bag for a smaller size. Getting closer.

We received our docs yesterday, as I posted. And yes, we did book directly with Disney. I was actually surprised that we got them so early...since we are in the West. But, very happy about it...:teeth: :teeth: I ordered a whale bag also, and got that yesterday too. It is the 6 pocket one and larger than I thought it would be. I asked DH when he got home from work if he thought it would be too big and he said " who's going to be carrying it":earseek: :earseek: He was serious too!!!! So, if you see a grey-haired old lady dragging this huge bag and a DH cruising along ....emptyhanded, it will be Bob and Corie  :wave2:

I'm so jealous! I want my docs! LOL I'll probably be the last to get mine, we booked thru a TA and only booked 3 months out. So I'll just sit here and keep crying about it! LOL

Congrats to all of you that have them! I think it will feel "real" once I have them. And believe me you will all know it when I get them! HAHA

Also, let me know who to send the excursion info to. Hope you all have a great one.

REAS is the 'Romance Escape at Sea' pkge. You can read about it on the disney website. Then call 1-877-566-0968 to make your ressies.

PoohJen

CynSaun,
REAS is Romantic Escape at Sea package - I think it's $299. It includes a couples massage, dinner at Palo's, special room service menu (breakfast in bed), a special turn down service one night, and a gift basket. The best thing about REAS is that you get to reserve your spa appt (for the couples massage), dinner rotation and Palo dinner (and brunch!) before your cruise!

Call DCL to book your excursions. I think someone posted the number on this thread in the last page or two (or just check the DCL website).

Meanwhile, I'm Orlando bound! (gotta live wireless internet!::yes:: )

Congrats to all you doc dancers!!!

Hey Jen! You guys have a wonderful time down there! Eat a Mickey Bar for me.:p

I've been checking movie release dates and have found several that might show up on our cruise. "Finding Neverland" is to be released on October 22. It is made by one of Disney's studios, so it might be on the ship. And it stars Johnny Depp (whoo hoo! but not in pirate costume:( )

"Bridget Jones Diary 2" will be released on November 19th, so we might get a special midnight showing of that movie, too. (another Disney studio)I loved the first one, and the preview of this one was hilarious!

And of course, "The Incredibles"!

Should be a good movie watching cruise. Finding time for them will be the real challenge!:teeth:

I am really happy to hear this. I have been anxious to see this movie...the previews look great!! Johnny Depp plays J.M.Barrie, the author of Peter Pan.... I hope we do get it onboard!

Susan - The reason DCL main number may not have you guys linked is because you are under the groups department. Groups would be the ones to take care of that stuff and the regular people don't have access to all of that information. Trust me, you guys are together for dinner. The seating arrangement is already done for our group and you guys will all be together. The coordinator is handling who is sitting at what table but you guys are definately together. Don't worry if you call and they say you aren't because the one that matters (the coordinator) knows you are. :earsboy:

Still no documents here. You Hoo Disney; don't forget the rest of us!

Isn't there a number we can call to find out which movies are playing while we're onboard? I love taking my blanket and going to watch movies (last year it got really cold in the theater). I remember we were watching Cold Creek Manor just as the ship left port and it started to rock. Kinda scary to watch a suspense/horror film while he ship is moving.

cynsaun - I love the picture of your girls at the American Girl building. Very cute.

Is everyone who has the late dining time linked together? I was just wondering what my chances were of being put with someone I already "know".

Pat, The Incredibles is a new film that hits theaters on Nov 5th.

It is a cartoon about a superhero that has been retired for about 15 years that comes out of retirement.

The previews on TV are hilarious. One scene is of him trying to get into his superhero suit and he's gained quite a bit of weight during his retirement.

Should be a real hoot to see.
