Quote above ffrom the theme music from CSI  !

Tina, I believe that John is getting together a "master list" of all our friends here. John, I think in the 'final' list - it would be good to list it by deck order - so we could see who are our neighbors.
If anyone is uncomfortable giving out their stateroom number, that's okay and those people can be listed at the bottom of the page.
Then, a week before sailing, John can email everyone the list so we have an idea WHO and WHERE we all are.

I think (according to LINDA who has done this before) it will make it easier to now who is who :jester: for our DIS meet.
Another good idea is to have those DIS pins made up while the shipping is free....easier then those sticky name tags which I guess we will need, too.

Welcome.. Welcome!!!

Glad to see you're onboard! Is it a safe assumption that you have twins or was it just a very busy year for you?? :earseek:

On another note, I spoke with my aunt and it turns out that the type of dialysis that she needs is NOT available on DCL! She is pretty disappointed. She really wanted to go. Thanks to all of you that helped out with getting information and was willing to help her on the cruise. It meant a great deal to us all that everyone was willing to lend a hand.

So, we have 2 rooms left now. Kim and I have the flyers in hand to start handing them out but I wanted to ask everyone one more time... know anyone who needs one?? The cat 6 is $960 cheaper than DCL!!:earseek: I was thinking of dropping off some of the flyers at the daycare Justin goes to and Kim is thinking of sending out an email to the other AAA offices but we don't want to put the word out too good as we don't have a bunch of rooms anymore. Just two! :teeth: And, they have to be booked by July 13th or they go back into inventory.

As for those of you already in 'Kim's group', we get our coordinator around July 14th or so. She will be able to let us know all of the perks and extras that we qualify for. She should also be able to give us our choice of free gifts, too! I will be sure to keep you all posted as soon as I hear from her.

That's all for now..... and welcome again Jen!!

Hey Y'all!
I reserved two weeks ago (after two years of researching and planning!! lol) and have been downloading reviews and tips ever since - glad to meet such a great bunch of (over-)enthusiasts like myself!!!

I'm in the Va Beach area; originally from LI, NY and later Boston before tiring of the snow shovelling winters!

One cruiser recommended that you ask your TA for a particular dinner rotation. What are your thoughts on that?

(ps, sorry to hear of your aunt's dialysis; how terribly disappointing re: cruise)

Oh, yeah, they are twins. Fraternal. Like night and day, but very good buddies.:thewave: Countin' down the days... :earsboy:

Since DH and I are flying on FF tickets, we ended up with a 6:30 p.m. flight.....so we have booked a day room at the Hyatt for $60.
I figure we will be up late our last night having fun with our pals and then up early for breakfast and de-boarding  ......so we will be able to check-in for AA at the pier- get our boarding passes and check our big luggage......take the DCL bus to the airport and relax at the pool and in our room for a nap! All we have to do is stroll thru security......We arrive in NY at 9:15ish and will not be home until after 11:30 p.m.

Hi Vicki! We all missed you in chat, hope you can make the next one!

Here is a link to a post on the cruise forum from January

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=483574&highlight=%2Bultimate+%2Bpacking+%2Blist

She has some really good info on things to pack, things to do, and lots of general information. There is also a link to her other packing lists at the bottom of the page. They are long, but just chock full of good stuff!

The most important piece of info I can give is "don't overpack"!!!

I wear shorts, t-shirts and slip on sandals all day, or a bathing suit and cover-up. I have tennis shoes for excursions, cause you might have to do a bit of walking.

For formal nights, I have a pair of black velvet pants and 2 different sparkly tops and some dressy sandals.

For the rest of the evening dinners I wear slacks. I have a black pair and a brown pair with different tops and a nice pair of flats to wear with them.

Any questions, just fire away!

some old (well, a few days old, I think) news:

Disney World to get four new attractions for anniversary

By GARY GENTILE
AP Business Writer

LOS ANGELES — Four new attractions will open at Walt Disney World Resort, including a walking, talking animatronic dinosaur named "Lucky," to mark the 50th anniversary of Disneyland.

The new attractions are part of an 18-month event, dubbed "The Happiest Celebration on Earth," which includes new fireworks shows, parades and rides at The Walt Disney Co.'s 10 worldwide theme parks.

The celebration begins May 5, 2005, and includes the opening of Disney's 11th park, Hong Kong Disneyland, in late 2005 or early 2006. Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955.

Plans at Walt Disney World Resort include:

_The "Cinderellebration" show from Tokyo Disneyland will play at the Magic Kingdom.

_The Soarin' over California ride, which debuted at Disney's California Adventure park, will open at Epcot.

_The "Lights, Motors, Action" stunt show from Disneyland Resort Paris will open at Disney-MGM Studios.

_A walking, talking dinosaur named Lucky will interact with guests at Disney's Animal Kingdom. A new roller coaster attraction, Expedition Everest, will also open at the park.

Don't know about some of you but since my son only has school 3 days the week following our cruise (Thanksgiving), we are staying!!! Jen, you may want to check that out. You may be able to add on a second vacation for a fraction of the cost (no additional air is needed). So, my sadness won't set in until November 26th and by then, we will be very ready to come home. :sunny:

I've been having problems with my computer tonight so my apologies if this has already been mentioned.

I realized this morning on my commute to work (I spend the time thinking about, planning for and dreaming of my cruise!!) that Mickey's (and Minnie's...the girl rarely gets recognized that day!) birthday is our last day at sea (the day between St. Thomas and Castaway Cay). Do you think they might have a special party or celebrate in some way??? That would be fun!

I'm so glad we didn't book this cruise as far in advance of some of you....the waiting is torture as it is and we just booked a week and a half ago!!

Don't even get me started on airfares! We booked ours (I wanted to wait) and now we have found much cheaper and more convenient airfares. We, unfortunately, can't cancel (only defer using flight for a year for a fee) so we are just kicking ourselves now. Not just for this trip...also our December trip to New York City. For once, my procrastination would have paid off!!

Housekeeping.....KY John has asked me to put togther a "master list" of Dis-sers we are cruising with.....Here are my ideas.....

1. I will start it in Sept - about 8 weeks before the cruise. :confused3 - After my summer vacation :jester:

2. It is TOTALLY voluntary - non participation is okay

3. I will private message (P.M.) for the info and post here when I will do it

4. Basic Info - Dis Name - First names of adults, names, sex and ages of kids and any special occasion you are celebrating! B-days :bday: - Anniversaries  - Honeymoons :duck:

5. Optional Info
a. last names??? up to the individual.
b. Do you want your kids to correspond/email with other kids their age before the cruise. If your kids want to email - this should be established between the parents.

6. Probably shouldn't put on the list - Room numbers - I feel that this can be exchange privately online or at the time of the DIS meet if people so choose. I plan on printing out my list and bringing it with me to the meet to putr additional stuff on as needed.

7. Once list is set up....I will email as an attachment to everyone,,,,any new or updated info will be added as needed.

ANY OTHER THOUGHTS - anyone hate this?? Anyone have other info they think should be included - I will do this in Microsoft Excell so we have columns - I think I will list alphabetically by DIS name.

My DS will be 12 in October - he states he'll be a "teen" then and should be allowed in the Stack with the other teens! I, however, am not as anxious as he for him to grow up! (and I know he'll have fun in the lab!).

Feenie,

That is great!!! I know how hard the wait has been. We gave up and got a great price for Jet Blue out of Boston ($125 round trip). Also, with the changes that Southwest has made the times with JB are better for us. What times are you flying???

We paid 210 round trip from Manchester... But it is worth the extra for us. We have a free place to leave our car and family to drop us off and pick us up.
We are going down a few days early and are on the 7:15 am  to Orlando
On the way back we are doing the 11:30 non stop.
I really debated about it, and I feel good about it. Our last trip with very little effort, and as much stalling on the ship as we could manage we were still at southwest counter at 9am. (and this was WITH the disney transportation stopping at 3 other spots first.)

I was sooo happy this morning when I did my morning ritual of checking the southwest site.

The bright yellow color prevented people from walking into it while pulling it behind or beside us. It fit in an overhead compartment of a Continental 737-200. Several people stopped and asked where we purchased this item. We told them e-bags.com."

Seeing as I can't seem to find a way to avoid shopping all together, this idea is a great one!

I've had a rolling cooler I bought at Sam's since last summer. Love it! Actually I have three rolling coolers. Two are the big Rubbermaid ones. I keep one here, one in FL. Big enough to carry a small child on top, sand wheels, perfect for all day outings, or extra cooler storage while camping. Too big for the ship, though.

Hi fellow cruisers!

Thanks for the tip and the links, Pat. My cooler (and of course, a few other goodies:rolleyes: ) (My name is Linda, and I am an on-line shopaholic :D ) should be on it's way sometime next week.

Tracy, are you the one who was watching "Blow Out"? You got me totally hooked! :p Had to watch all the episodes! ($400 for a haircut:scared1: )

Ed, my dh, is setting up a website for us. I hope it will be up, (at least part of it) by Monday.

Hey would anybody be interested in doing this tour as a group. It costs $20.00 per person and I'm not sure how many people fit into the safari style car, but is sure sounds like a great way to spend a day in St Thomas, kid free.

I have to go shopping here anyway, have to find the Harley Davidson shop to pick up payment for my cat sitter. And my sister wants a shirt from Hard Rock St Thomas.

Just thought I would put the idea out there and see how many of you might want to jump on it.

Jen, it doesn't fold flat....so you would be rolling it on....actually, it looks just like a rolling backpack many kids now have for school.
So you can use it as a 'regular' carry on bag - just insulated.
We will be putting some beer and water bottles and adult beverages in ours and when we go home, will use it for souveniers or wet stuff.

Thanks Susan, right now haven't decided yet about snorkelingtour or just hanging at a beach. We are purchasing a timeshare on STT and will probably want to check it out while we are there.

Well, guys! We made it. We are back home now. Fort Lauderdale was great! Did anyone miss me?? Pat we have some pictures for you of the place you are going to be staying at. We stayed on the Galt Ocean Mile which is very private. The beach is all public but you have to gain access to the beach by key. Otherwise, you can access it by the public area then walk for a while to get there (which nobody does). The beach was gorgeous!! The kids got a taste (literally!!) of what the cruise will be like. Now, we can't wait for it to be here!

Tracy ~ Just got your email, sent you a reply. Hope this is good news for you.

In case anyone is interested, the weather was great! On the way to the airport this morning, we had the top down on the rental car and the boys were complaining that it was cold. Too bad it was 80 degrees!! LOL

Can't wait to chat with all of you and get caught up... running out now to do some errands... no one got paid while I was gone so I have to do payroll before everyone hunts me down!!

Chat soon!!!

"Used this bag on a recent vacation to Disney World in Orlando, FL. Carried sweating cold drinks in the insulated part, and maps, ponchos, cameras, etc. in the other compartments. The bright yellow color prevented people from walking into it while pulling it behind or beside us. It fit in an overhead compartment of a Continental 737-200. Several people stopped and asked where we purchased this item. We told them e-bags.com."

Thanks to the chat last night and Jeanna, I have booked REAS. My TA called and added it to our cruise, however, I still am not sure of what choices I have to make and who I need to call. I know that I can choose a dining rotation of which we would like PLAPLAP. I also need more information about the two types of massage, when to plan this stuff, when to plan PALO...etc!! My TA added it and then told me that I will be contacted once on board.

Yikes, I am freaking out here!!

Jeanna, I still think that you should become a TA (specializing in DCL of course).

Trish, I hate to give you the bad news but your TA gave you some bad info. One of the benefits of booking the package is that you can pre-book some of your reservations. Look for me on IM and I can let you know of all of your choices and what course to take to get this taken care of with the least amount of stress. I will be on later tonight.

I will keep that in mind about becoming a TA in case my day job doesn't pan out! :hyper:

Jeanna spent some time with me last night helping me with our REAS!! She really is amazing!!!!!

I called Debbie today, and this is what I have reserved:

Well being massage Monday at 10:30
Palo dinner on Friday at 8:30
Palo bruch on Thursday at 12:00
I also requested PLA rotation

Jeanna, I got my first choice for everything!!!! I can't thank you enough.

07-22-2004, 11:48 AM
That's great Trish! Just want to alert you though - I too made Palo brunch for Thursday (although a little earlier), until my DS pointed out that was our morning for Character Breakfast. If you get PLAPLAP, Thursday will be your character breakfast too.

Probably won't make a difference to you with a 12 ressie, but just letting you know. :sunny:

I did point that out to her, Jen. ::yes:: But, she will have to eat lunch so she took the latest time available. With all the other reservations and wanting to do it all on at sea days, it was getting to the point where she needed to take that one or she would have to skip brunch so she opted for it anyway. Even if she only eats a little bit, she would still get the opportunity to do it rather than miss it alltogether, which, if she had to miss it, would be sad. Don't they realize how hard it is to do all the things we want?? :hyper: Why can't they just keep things simple?? But, if they did that, us obsessive people would need to find other hobbies!!! :hyper: :hyper:

Originally posted by JP-STL [B] "A tip for those with digital cameras: There is a photo processing shop just a few steps from the ship in the port in St. Thomas called Blazing Photos. For just $12, they took all three of my memory cards and burned all the photos onto a CD. Then, I was able to delete the photos from the memory cards and start all over. They wanted almost $50 for this service at the photo shop aboard the ship."

Definitely good to know; i think i'll ask folks on the main board if they were happy w/ Blazing Photos

Sarah did great today. All the braces are off and we were able to go to her regular dentist in the afternoon for a thorough cleaning. (get all that glue off, lol) She goes back to the orthodontist on Monday for her retainers.

When Sarah came out of the orthodontists office, she had a goodie bag in her hand. We said goodbye to the staff and headed to the parking lot. I asked what was in the bag, and she handed it to me. I took one look and cracked up! In the bag.....a Snickers bar, a bag of Cheetos, a bag of peanuts, some fruit gushers, and some gum! LOL, all the things she couldn't have for the last year! Too funny!

Hi,

We're going the week after you folks on the western! We've done the eastern twice. If your looking for excursions, last summer we chartered a cigarette boat on St Martin and spent the day over in Anguilla. It was the best excursion we've ever been on. Aguilla is private, very seculuded and had the whitest beaches I'd ever seen. If you want more info, send me a PM or visit www.offshoresunsations.com.

I just got an e-mail from Disney about discount room rates through the fall. It is valid though the middle of December.
Of course the THREE nights that are blacked out of the deal... Are the THREE nights that we are going to be there!
Typical!

Oh well, I am just not meant to save money!!

Athene, I just sent you a PM on this - I haven't seen any fall rates yet! I'm going to WDW for a few days in mid-Oct w/ DM. She has some left-over park hoppers that have been burning a hole in her pocket since our trip last spring!

Athene - read it again, we will be there from 11/20 right? If so, here is what mine says....

Offers valid most nights 8/29-12/19/04, but not valid at all from 10/17-10/20/04, 11/10-11/13/04 and 11/23-11/27/04. Number of rooms available at these rates is limited. Tax not included.

So, it IS valid from 11/20-11/23... check your dates... see if they work!!!

I wonder why November 10 - 13. We are going to be there on the 11th and 12th. We got a deal through a friend though. Just wondering if something is going on that might make it busier than expected.

we are going the three days before the cruise....
Which will be great!! (Just not discounted! ;) )
I think the reason for the black out is the super soap weekend....
The funny thing is, is that the rooms aren't any MORE expensive for that time period than the pre-discount price.

We just got back from seeing Jars of Clay preform at our local fair. It was awesome! I guess they finally realized that not everyone in New Hampshire want to line dance!

Hi Y'all,
I just read the best trip report ever! Hilarious and quite detailed. It took me a good two hours, but I saved it to my "favorites" so I could break it up.

Anyway, if you have the time and the inclination, I think you'll enjoy this western report: http://www.passporterboards.com/ubb/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=509065&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1

November 11 is Veteran's Day....perhaps that in combination with Jersey week and Super Soap Weekend...is why they are not discounting those dates.

Feenie, where are you staying? We will be there before the cruise as well.

PoohJen, thank you for the link. I am going to print it out and read it on the plane to North Carolina on Monday. The flight will go by so much faster.

Susan, we have been shopping since last year as well!!! At least I know that I am not the only obsessed person here!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

It's Remembrance Day for me but not everyone gets the day off. Does everyone get Veteran's Day off? I get it off because I work for a bank. It's basically banks and government that get it off. When I was a kid, I think we had a day off of school but not by the time I hit high school.

I have no idea what Jersey week is. I knew about Super Soap Weekend but I'm checking out early Saturday morning (gotta get to the port...gotta get to the port!!) so I'll be "missing" all of that.

I am too! It doesn't make it double digits for me though. I purposely made my counter go to the cruise itself. I subtract the two days in my head for the actual vacation.

Have you ever stayed at Pop Century before? (I can't see your signature now that I'm typing this so if it says you have...I'm not dumb!) It's my first time. I have stayed at the All Stars several times (but never Movies) but I wanted to see what Pop Century was like (plus there's a bonus that it's a bit cheaper as the All Stars are in the county with higher taxes!).

We have two one-day hoppers left from the days I worked for Disney and four "plus" entrances from our Park Hopper Plus passes from September (we were too tired on that trip to ever make it to Pleasure Island) so we're doing Pleasure Island on the Thursday and Magic Kingdom on the Friday.

Okay, I'm getting too excited and I have boring cleaning to do!!

And now I just saw the Magic on the Port Canaveral web cam and I'm getting worse!! I think Saturdays are the hardest day...too much time on my hands to think about it and then I can go and see the ship sitting in port.

14 more Saturdays to "suffer" like this and then it's our Saturday!!! I won't be looking longingly at the web cam...I'll be right there, looking at her in person! Okay, now I'm going to cry. :) :earsboy:

We were thinking about doing one night at AKL on our way home (we fly out on Sunday) but we have decided to go to Crystal River to see manatees (with a stop at the outlet malls in Orlando on the way).

Yeah for Double digits!!!
Its our first time for a value resort. It is a little pre-cruise bonus that keeps growing... (we started our plan going just one night before the cruise!)

:wave2:  Happy Monday, Everyone!! ::yes::

The princesses and I will be staying at OKW from 11/8 to the 12th or 13th. We have a room booked for Friday night, but it's pricey. I'm waiting for the AP rates to come out, see if I can do any better.

What's up w/ these north easters giving their kids a week off school two weeks before Thanksgiving break?!?! (Jersey Days, I believe.) Poor planning if you ask me....I wanted the park to myself that week!! pirate:

Forgive me Vicki but what is the OKW? I've been straining my brain and can't figure it out!.:confused3

What is everyone doing after the cruise, before you go home? :bored: John you should put that in your list of things about all of us! Just a thought! We only have one day before we need to head home :(, and we'll be in the RV, so we were thinking of going to Universal or some other amusement park.:yo-yo: Any ideas? Don't really want to go to WDW for one day. I can't think of one park I would want to do over any other park. I love them all! Plus, what a tease that would be! I Appreciate any suggestions!
