Just booked the Dolphin as a GOLD. Anyone who has stayed with this level of Starwood Guest at this resort. Also any special room request? Do any rooms overlook the Castle?

The Dolphin is between Epcot and MGM, not close to Magic Kingdom

I am Gold spg member. I booked a standard King room at the Swan for our July 03 trip. I asked for a comp upgrade to a balcony room and got a Jr. Suite!

You cannot see the Magic Kingdom from the Dolphin. You can see and are within walking distance of both EPCOT and MGM. In Aug 2002 we had a Gold SPG card and booked a standard view king bed room and that it exactly what we got.

We just booked a lake view room at $99 a night with the Labor Day special they are running and even though I am still a Gold SPG card holder I will be suprised if we are upgraded for free.

As I another poster noted it cannot hurt to ask but a free upgrade is not automatic even if you are a Gold SPG card holder.

I just booked today for Christmas and joined the Starwood Club. How do you become gold? Any chance of an upgrade at all without it?

We just returned in July. We booked std. with Gold card. They upgraded us to corner king room 8-015. It had a gorgeous view of Epcot fireworks and Swan waterway. We were very pleased. We sat out on the balcony each night to watch the fireworks. The room also had huge windows on 2 different walls. Note: the rooms on the 8th floor are not refurbished yet, but were still really nice inside. The beds are not yet heavenly, but close.

Comp upgrades depend on availability or how booked the resort is at the time you are there.

Gold - if you apply for and receive the AMEX Starwood Platinum cc you can call and ask to be Gold or it is based on # of stays in a year.
