For the past week (since returning from vaca) I have had no motivation to get back to the "diet". I do well w/my eating during the day, salad for dinner, walk the "gerbil track", but then I come in the house and eat 2cups of nosalt/lowfat pretzels! (I threw out the remaining 2boxes of cheezits)
Prior to vaca my weight was within 9lbs of "goal". I have 14wks to loose those remaining 9lbs but dont seem to have as strong a desire to loose it as I did prior to NH vaca.
Help!!!! Any suggestions? Do I break down and get on that scale and face reality? Im afraid all the work I did before vaca has gone back on my hips! My mind can do an awful # on me.

I would get on the scale, that is what worked for me. I saw those numbers and that was it, back on WW and back to WATP dvd's. So far so good. Look at it this way, you are only 9 pounds away from your goal, you're not starting from the very beginning so that's great! Good luck!

GET ON THE SCALE!!!!

We need to monitor our weight weekly - and sometimes we gain - SO WHAT IF YOU DID! - If you did gain a little and never step on the scale then that little will turn into a little more and so on and so on .....

I personallly do not know what its like to be so close to goal - But say those words out loud - they have a nice sound to them - a doable realistic sound to them - I think that would motivate me!

And just imagine seeing the GOAL Wish Banner in your signature - what an accomplishment that will be!

So get on the scale - face the numbers - hey they may not show any gain at all - and GET BACK ON TRACK NOW!!!!!

You definitely need to get on the scale. Look at it as simply damage control.

Our body weight is not a constant. We are constantly changing beings, and if our weight didn't fluxuate, something would definitely be wrong.

At this point in your weight-loss journey, you have a choice. You know you're going to gain, so you can face that, and simply move on, and get back on track, OR, you can NOT face it, continue to not follow your weight loss plan, put back on ALL the weight you've worked so hard to lose, and put on a few pounds in addition. I don't know about you, but that first option sounds a WHOLE heck of a lot more appealing!!! :teeth:

Picture this scenario:

It's January, and it's bitter cold. There are patches of ice all over your driveway. You and a friend get out of the car, and start walking to the house, and all of a sudden you slip, right in the middle of a big ice patch. The following conversation ensues:

Friend: "Aren't you going to get up?"
You: "No."
Friend: "WHAT?! Are you hurt? Did you break your leg?"
You: "No. It's just icy. Why even bother trying to get up if I'm just gonna fall again?"
Friend: "So when do you think you might care to try to get up?"
You: "April. Maybe March if the weather gets warm enough and this ice melts."
Friend: "Okay. Hasta later!"

Pretty silly, huh? You slipped. Don't wait for spring thaw. Just get yourself back up, and keep moving! Make sure that you have a safe environment (meaning that your fridge and cabinets are stocked with good healthy foods that will keep you on whatever program you're following), and just start again. You'll do just fine!!!!

I find if I give myself permission to take some extra days off it makes getting back on track easier. I came home from vacation last Monday and I gave myself until that Friday to start exercising and I gave myself to this past Monday to start journaling and counting points again. I ate what I wanted (but still made good choices) and I was back to business as I stated and moving onward and downward. You are the only one who can make yourself do it, you have come this far, don't give up!
