View Full Version : Is Poly More Popular than YC/BC now?

I remember last year or even in 1999 and 2000, when I was checking the rates, Poly's rates were always lower than YC/BC. However, this year, it seems Poly's rates are higher. Is it because it is getting more popular and there is more demand than before?

Anybody noticed this too?

I just checked back a few years on the rack rates. The Poly has been $10-$30 more per night (depending on season and room type) for at least the last three years. You may have gotten better "deals" on the Poly versus the Y&B in the past because conventions may have filled the Y&B before the Poly. With tourism picking up again at WDW, there may not be as many Poly rooms going unbooked.

I've been watching those rates for years and agree with Pam. When Y&B first opened, it was priced slightly higher for perhaps a year. Every time we've booked since then, the Polynesian has had higher rates. The only exception I can remember was early this summer when discount rates at the Polynesian were a little lower than Y&B. Perhaps because of the bus stop construction at the Polynesian?

Pam,

The rack rate maybe higher. But in 1999 and 2000 when we were going, Poly was always just a bit expensive than comtemparay for the AP rate, like $179 or so. Or I would always be offered special rate even lower when I called CRO. Did not know Mousesavers or DisBoard at the time. I always thought that it was not as popular because it is older.

However, now the discounted rate is definitely higher.

Not counting any discount the Polynesian has always been more that the YC/BC when I look at my WDW travel Co. price list since 1996 and as far as popular the Polynesian has been rated by Disney as the most repeat guests of any resort and for the last 3 years has been the #1 honeymoon resort out of the WDW resorts.

Aloha

Thanks everyone.

Maybe I was just lucky to get better rates when I called to check on the rates. We are really looking forward to our trip in August to the Poly:D

We were there 01/03 and Michael Eisner was staying at the Poly, at least the front desk told us so. We even saw him driving the train in the MK! If he stays there, it's probably A-OK :)
