I have a friend who is growing giant pumpkins. I've asked him to join us on the F&G board, and tell us a bit about his pumpkin growing, how it's done, how big they're supposed to get, why he got into it, that kind of stuff. :)

He's kindly agreed, and should be here in the next couple of days (or sooner! :)), to give us the scoop!

I keep thinking of him as GourdGuy, but I'm really not sure what user name he'll choose. ;) :)

It's pretty interesting stuff, so stayed tuned, BUDS! :) :)

I looked at that thread earlier, Vanessa. Would you like me to add the link to it? :)

The PUMPKIN MAN is coming I can't wait :bounce: (We need an orange bounce)

Every year we have a pumpkin carving day with my children and grandchildren and their friends. It's so much fun. Everyone does a great job even the little ones.

How exciting. My boys would love to grow giant pumpkins. I have regular size growing now and can't wait to see little tiny pumpkins on them. Looking forward to reading his posts.

Hi, this is drat.
I'm still learning about your on-line community so forgive me if I'm a little clumsy. Snowwark has been a friend for many years (she's a fine Northern lass) and has asked me to post some info and pictures of my giant pumkins.

I am still a "newbie" to pumpkins as this is only my second year of growing them so I am far from an expert. However, I would be happy to share my experiences with all of you. This is an opportune time to start watching the growth of the pumpkins a they have just ben pollinated (by hand) and are starting to grow. I will figure out how to post pictures of the growth stages as pictures speak a thousand words.

Why is it exciting is it to grow giant pumpkins? Show me another potentially 1300 pound vegetable and I'll show you why!

More to follow.

Welcome, drat!!!!!

This should be great fun. If you need a place to host some pics, let me know. I can help you out. The only problem is that I'll be out of town for the next 10 days.

I hope to read some great stuff when I return...:D
