I took the advise someone suggested and tried priceline...
I got the Wingate Inn @5661 Windhover Dr for $33.00 !
They do offer free deluxe continental breakfast, but it is not a suite. But for $33.00 a night including breakfast I'll take it, the way I look at it is if we stayed someplace else w/out breakfast we would spent close to $20.00 each morning on breakfast for the 4 of us and where in the world could I find a hotel for $13.00 a night LOL!! My total for 8 nights was $299.00!! :bounce:
The only thing that I am disapointed in is we do not have a fridge but since we are drining I my pack a small cooler just to keep cold drinks on hand...I have to have my coke when I get up LOL(not a coffee drinker )!
So now here is the question:
Does anyone know ANYTHING about the Wingate Inn?
ANYTHING??? What is near it? is it old/new? ANYTHING? WOuld love to hear from someone who stayed there :)
Thanks for all the help

I will be staying there for one night in two weeks.
It is less than a mile from Universal. I got a $43 price from hotelkingdom.com. I went on their website to check out the map, amenities, etc. I'm not positive, but I think it was wingateinns.com.
It looks nice, and appears to be geared towards businesspeople. I hope somebody else answers this who has been there!

you got a great rate at the Wingate Inn I just checked Hotelkingdom on the Wingate Inn for November and the rates are $70.90 per night...how did you get it so low? Not that it really matters to me since I did Priceline and it not refundable just curious I guess...:)

but I have stayed at Wingates in other locations and they are very nice properites. I would describe them as similar to a newer Hampton Inn. The chain is fairly new. The only question that I would try and find an answer to, is the hotel new construction or did they take over the property from another chain. Good luck on your stay.

I love hotelkingdom.com. I've had great luck with them price wise. I had a bunch of hotels to choose from in the $40-50 range. I was happy to get one with a free breakfast. Seems to me a lot of hotels are dropping this great amenity??

I bid a 2.5 star in the universal/sea world area. If you want the reservation I can sellit/ trasfer it to you I JUST realized after looking at the school calander for next year that I placed my bid for the WRONG WEEK...I dont know how I did it but I am just sick about it!!!! I am off to post and see if anyone has a number that I can actually get ahold f a human being at priceline and see if there is ANY way to change the week to one week earier!! UGH

The priceline reservation is not for sale...I contacted Priceline and within 2 hours I had a response that they would allow me to change to request by submitting a new request for a room and then I can cancel the first one after filling out a form etc etc...Priceline is the BEST!!
This is a one time cencellation policy but you can bet I will be double and triple checking dates in the future.

Im glad priceline is letting you straighten it out!! Im staying at hotels in DD in Jul that I got through priceline and we are thrilled. We are returning in Nov and staying at CBR, but I was thinking about splitting the stay and getting something closer to Universal since we will be in those parks for a couple of days too. Maybe I will bid and try to get into the Wingate :)

We stayed there on May 26th (just got back from vacation). It was a very nice hotel, seemed fairly new. Their breakfast buffet was nice as well (just basic type breakfast foods). We did not get there until really late, so I can't tell you a whole lot. It is very close to Universal. Overall, it would definitely be worth what you paid (we also paid $28), actually I think it would be worth up to $80 if you were not using priceline. Have fun, we did!
