Ginger,
Just wanted to say congrats on losing 4 pounds! That's great! I was out of town a lot last week so I had to miss my workouts at Curves so I'm hoping the scale won't be too devastating! I joined Curves in March and have lost 13 1/2 pounds so far! I'm trying to keep on track for the cruise because I know I'll gain a few pounds then for sure!

Glad Shari and Dena are safe and sound. Keeping my fingers crossed that the storm will lose power but it doesn't look very good.

Michelle,
Ddad is just going on vacation. His first one alone, and he also plans on renting a scooter, due to an operation in late July. I hope electricity will be working for everyone. thanks for asking.

Congrats to everyone losing weight. I had been doing pretty well on a modified South Beach diet-- dh did it with me and lost almost all the fat around his belly in a couple weeks, but I'm losing slowly... The other day I ate an entire can of sour cream and onion Pringles-- shows you how desperate I was for junk food.

I hope all the Florida people don't find unpleasant surprises due to the storm when they get home. Ds asked if the alligators swim up and down the roads during the floods down there. What an imagination that kid has.

Good Morning Everyone:

Spoke with my cousin and Uncle late yesterday afternoon. Cousin has the fence on one side down, bushes and branches all over the place and as she put it, the screen for the back porch is in the canal. They were going outside about 4pm to take down some of the boards and look at everything else. Guess they'll have to keep the boards in case Ivan comes in.
My Uncle didn't have power for 2 days now and said everything in the frig is ruined. He said he'll just have to drink Vodka. At least he still has his sense of humor. He was lucky, a tree went down in his area and hit the neighbors car.

I know things are worse else where, but was glad to here from our family.

Our children start school tomorrow. :Pinkbounc

Ginger: Thanks for some of your :wizard: dust. Work starts tomorrow too, and that means getting a handle on eating again.

Julie: I think thats a great question from DS. Do they start walking around?

Donna: When you talk to Ddad let us know how the airport faired.

Guess we won't here from other Dis folks till the power is restored. Hope all is well with Dena and her young family. Thinking of all of you in the Sunshine state,
Michelle

Good Morning all:wave2:

Looks like there are a few of us tring to get off a little extra weight before the cruise. I want to say Congrats!!! to all of you. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Michelle, I wish for you a great first day back to work.

Dena and Shari, I hope you came home to find little to no damage to you homes.

We are expecting rains here, no winds, to arrive from Frances within the next day or two. Actually it will be welcomed since we haven't had any for a good while.

I've got alot to do today, including my exercising, so I'll say good bye for now.

Have a great day all.:wave2:

Ginger:
Pleae count us in for tea if you have not already finalized everything.

Can you tell us what the approximate costs are to get to Anguilla ?

We have been getting info. together on St. John and is looks like it is more economical to take taxis from Great Cruz Bay to Trunk Bay on St. John rather than rent a car/jeep. (More money for beverages!)

We also plan on bringing details for all ports (western, eastern & others) just in case the weather causes us to divert. With the weather the way is it you just never know where you will end up. In the two prior Disney cruises we have taken we have always missed at least one port. On the first trip, as you know, we missed Castaway Cay and on the second we missed Grand Cayman. On the second they did take us to Costa Maya in place of Grand Cayman but we knew nothing about the port.

Everyone:
What percentage of your trick or treat offerings will be candy? We suggested to the kids that perhaps the treats should not include a lot of candy, but according to Josh (DS) "Halloween-It's all about the candy".

Bob I'm tring to get the most current information but I'm having a hard time with it. I've emailed the tourist board there and have gotten no reply. I called them and spoke to a gal who just didn't want to answer any questions. She only wanted my name and mailing address. I did manage to get the current rates on the ferries to and from.
Ferries rates are as follows: Ferry leaving St. Martin to Anguilla total cost that way is $12.75.
Returning from Anguilla will be $13.00. Not sure if they still offer a reduced rate for children.
Looking into cab fares as rental cars are expensive there.

Hi Everyone.
Hope everyone had a safe weekend. I hope shari and Dena are safe and that their home are ok. WE had a lot of wind, rain and tornadoes here today from Frances. We are expecting more rain and wind tonight and into tomorrow. I have a bad case of poison ivy and sumac on my arms. I spent 4 days last week cleaning our yard from tropical storm Gaston that came through last Saturday, and I guess I picked up branches that had poison on them as well. I know what I am dealing with is NOTHING compared to those in Florida. I pray the rest of the storms like Ivan go back out to sea. I am also glad I am not cruising for several more weeks. I would hate to have to be traveling through Florida right now with all the debris and shortage on gas. Hopefully the tropics will calm down and everyone can resume life as normal.

Hello everyone.

Hope all is well. My 1st day back to work was okay. 3 weddings this weekend, lots of steaming of gowns. Yes, I work in a Bridal Shop. It's not as much fun as you think.

My Uncle still doesn't have power. He is now at my cousins, (his DD) and she has power. No phone service though. Hoping all the Disers that live in FL are okay.

Ginger: Thanks so much for thinking of me on my 1st day back.

Teri: Sorry to read about your poison ivy. Are you taking anything? I don't think I've ever had that. Then again can't remember the last time I was in the woods either.

I think you guys have a great idea about getting info on other ports. Which ones are you getting? What do you think they'll do if we can't get to CC. Will we go to another port or just a day at sea?

Julie: I keep a stash of sweets hidden (away from DH and kids) for just those times when I want something junkie.

Donna: Have you heard from your Ddad? Wondering how the airport was.

That's about it for now. Have a good evening everyone.

Hope the weekend went well.

Hey everyone! We are getting ready for Frances to hit the Ohio/WV area tomorrow. Lots of rain and some wind. I hope we don't lose power again. I have lived this house for 6 and 1/2 yrs and we never lost power. But in the past 4 months we have lost power 3 times for more than 6 hours. One was for 3 days. I know it's not as bad as Florida, but it still is crappy.

I need some help with St. John. We are thinking of going to Trunk Bay ourselves since I was able to get such a good deal on Snorkle gear from Wal-mart. How hard is it to get to the ferry in St. Thomas? Where do we have to go exactly to get the ferry. I know that once we get to St. John's we get a taxi and then ask them to come back at a certain time. Do we take a taxi to the ferry? And will there be taxis when we come back? Or should we just sign up now for the excursion? We will only be staying there until noon, because we(DH & I) want to do some shopping while the boys are in the clubs.

Tomorrow will be a bad day for me, because 10yrs ago my parents died in an airplane crash outside of Pittsburgh Pa. They were on their way back from Chicago. Dad worked for the Dept. of Energy and mom went to do some sight seeing. The only good thing is that they were together when it happened. Neither would have survived without the other. I was living at home w/DS who was 3 at the time. That's what kept me going. I still miss them, and I feel sad for the other 130 passangers on board that died that day. There will be a service at the crash site, but since I don't belong to the Survivor Group, I will not be going. I don't like to deal with all of the news group trying to get a story. I would rather just talk to them here at home. They are buried in Baltimore for the sake of my grandmom and aunts and uncles that live there. It lets them be able to go and visit. One of these days we will go the grave site when the boys get older. They know of their grandparents but of course Alan doesn't remember and TJ wasn't born yet. I know they are watching out for their precious boys and me as well.

Enough of the sad stuff, I hope everyone is getting ready for the cruise. Start packing now so it won't be so bad. Got some stuff together, all the little stuff. Found some underwater camera's at Krogers for $4.99. Got three that's all they had but I'll keep an eye out for more. If you want one give me a shout I'll try and get them for you.

Talk to you all later!!!

Hi Everyone
Hs anyone done Anguila before.I would love to go there but I am not sure I am that adventurous to do it on my own.
To everyone still in Francis path. Stay safe and wsh Ivan away,This hurricane business is getting out of hand.
Judi - I am so sorry to hear fo your loss. Ten years or a hundred I am sure doesn't ease the hurt. I hope you are able to think of happies memories of them on the tragic anniversary.

Well What are you all thinking about Castaway Cay? It really is the highlight of our trip. I hope they don't just mae it a day at sea if we can't get there. OK I am going to think positive. It will be fine and we will get there.;)

Hi all:wave2:
Dena called me today, boy!!! was I surprised. Anyway, I'm happy to report that they are all fine and dandy. They have returned to their home finding no damage, thank goodness. They are still without power. Dena's sister lives around the corner and her power has been restored already. Dena is hoping theirs will be restored soon also. She said they are really looking forward to the cruise, no doubt in my mind.

Teri, you poor thing, don't scratch. Soak them in salt water, a cure for all. Or is that windex! Just kidding, it's salt water.

Michelle, I bet it was hard getting back into the groove of things.
I wish I could hide candy. If I've got it, I've got to eat it or I'll go nuts thinking about it. It haunts me::yes:: ::yes::

Judi, what can I say, except I so sorry. Do something special for yourself tomorrow, keep your mind busy. If you don't mind me asking, where in Baltimore?
My sister-in-laws both work for Krogers but in Va.
DVCBob was looking into the St. John excursion on your own, maybe he can answer your questions. I'm getting or tring to get the most current info on Anguilla on your own.

Everyone have great day tomorrow.

Yes Toni, I've been to Anguilla, in 2001. I led a small group 9 people, there. It's an easy trip to do on your own.

Anguilla Information:

We got off the ship as early as we could. We took the water taxi into town, not sure if we still would have to do this.
We got a taxi to Marigot Bay, St. Martin (French side of the island about 20 minute ride).

IMPORTANT FACT: Negotiate your taxi fare before you enter the cabs on any island.

Since we were a small group travel with us we were charged group rates for all our tax rides.

Checking in at the ferry you'll need to show ID and proof of citizenship being a Passport or Birth Certificate. Pay a departure tax of $2.75.
Board the ferry and pay the ferry Capt. $10.'s for the ferry fare.
It's a 20-25 minute ride to the island.
Ferries run about every 30 minutes starting at 7:30 a.m. to 6pm..

Once there you can easliy get a cab to where you want to go.
The return ferry is $13.00 fare and tax taking you back to Marigot Bay St. Martin.

The cost for all our transportation remember it was 2001 was $57. per adult, $14. per child.
Today I am guessing that this trip will cost about $75. per adult and $23. per child.

Anguiila Guide (www.anguillaguide.com) Anguilla (www.anguilla-vacation.com) A short trip report from a recent visitor (home.carolina.rr.com/anguilla/Anguilla2004.htm)

DVCBob we've been to GC twice now so we've got the island pretty much covered there. Rent a jeep and head to Rum Point Beach.
Cozumel is a cab ride to Mr.Sanchos.
If we have to miss CC than a day at sea is fine by me.
For halloween candy rum filled snickers bars.:teeth: all day Pina colada suckers and mudslide jawbreakers.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: I think the kids will love them.
Bob everyone is making their own ressies for the High Tea under a group name, The Dis Board, of course. For Monday.

Dena, I've got your adult candy, maybe I should ship it to you now.

I've got to go, it's bedtime for me. I've got work to do tomorrow... no computer time for me. See you all in a few.
XOXOXOprincess:

Hi there! Just checking in!

Judi, just wanted to let you know that you're in my thoughts and prayers, and I echo Toni's thought that hopefully you can think of happy memories on this sad anniversary. Hang in there!

Teri, sorry too about your poison ivy! My sister-in-law sat in some a few years ago, and boy, did she ever walk like a cowboy! We laughed but she was pretty uncomfortable! Hope it's getting better! At least you didn't get it just before the cruise!

Michelle, congrats on getting past the first day at work! I'll bet working at a bridal salon is hard work and stressful too! But with your personality, I know you're a big success there!

Dena, glad to hear that everyone is okay and that your house wasn't damaged! Hope Shari is in the same boat (no pun intended!)!

Re Castaway Cay, when I was on the Wonder in 2002, we had to miss Castaway Cay because of the weather conditions, so they took us to Freeport. Then the next day (which was supposed to be a day at sea), the weather improved and they took us to Castaway Cay that day so we wouldn't miss out (which I was very impressed with).

Are we still meeting at 5:30 on the first day of the cruise after the ship leaves Port Canaveral? If so, where are we meeting again?

I'm back to work too but just for 3 weeks and then I start a new job. It's in an insurance brokerage and it's only 8 minutes from home. The big advantage to the new job is that it's very flexible and allows me to be at home when the kids are home, and that I'm not tied down to the office (I can work wherever I want to, including home).

Have a great day, everyone!

We are still in Maggie Valley NC - where I used to work as a zookeeper and tour guide. It's been great visiting the zoo and seeing old friends (human and animal) again. Although there has been flooding in nearby areas due to Frances working its way up here, we have had no effects where we are except the usual rain.

Talked to my sister back at the Fly-In where we live. Her house had some damage to the screen enclosure around her patio & pool and she was without power for a few days. Oddly, at our house about one mile away in the same community, it seems we never lost power and had only minor screen damage to the patio enclosure. The two trees in the backyard by the pond/lake went down. One had been staked and tied from Charley and trying to recover. A neighbor's oak tree fell into our driveway, but some friends have since removed that for us. It looks like the big chore will be removing debris from the yard, so that will probably delay any immediate visits to WDW for me (which is usually the first place I go after <I>anything</I>).

We are staying up here until Friday. Then if the surrounding weather and road conditions allow, will head back home, maybe spending one more night along the way. It <I>looks</I> like Ivan <I>may</I> head for the Gulf, but nothing is definite at this point. We are just hoping to get home before more big storms/hurricanes.

I am glad other FL residents here seem to be okay after the ordeal of Frances. :D

Shari,
Glad to hear that you're doing all right and that there isn't too much damage at your place. It's amazing how much havoc Mother Nature can wreak and how strong the elements are. Stay safe and be careful when you return home; I keep hearing on the radio that many people are hurt after the storm because of downed power lines, etc.

However, right outside the security gate they are not, so coming and going can be hazardous. The main things I am worried about during our return are flooded roads and careless drivers. We are hoping for sunny weather or at least a break in the FL rain for the drive home.

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for your kind words/and sympathy. Yesterday was a good day(except for the 4-6 inches of rain from Frances). I didn't dwell on the past, but focused on my future with my two beautiful boys. I know that is what my parents would have wanted. I did take a few minutes out to watch the local Pittsburgh news about the rememberance of 10th anniversary. It's nice to know that they still care after all these years. Because of this accident all Boeing 737's had to modify their rudders, which now makes it safer to fly.

Now on with the show! I got the DH his costume, still trying to figure out about myself and the boys. TJ is home sick(his asthma) so off to the doctor this afternoon. His only flairs up about 2x year so hopefully this will be it for the fall. Usually it is the week of his birthday(Halloween), and there has been many times that he has gone trick or treating will wheezing. But I feel bad since it only happenes once a year( T & T). My DH is finally getting on the ball and trying to help me get stuff together. He pulled out shirts, his suit, and some other clothes. Now I just have to make my lists and compare what I have.

I hope everyone is doing well, can't wait to meet all of you guys. Are we still meeting on Saturday? We have early seating but if you do want to meet at 5:30, we can get dressed early since it is casual.

Ginger- I have enough boats to put on all the doors that are participating right now. I will make some extra and check the final count on Oct.1. Do you think the parents are going to dress up that are taking the kids? I plan on it since my costume will be easy to get in and out of before lunch. We are going to bring the lap top so if we get digital pictures of the group we should be able to burn them into disks. That way everyone could have one that would like one right away. I can buy a pack of 50 disks and then everyone pays $1 or $2 to cover the price of the disk. I would be glad to do this while sitting on my verandah drinking a glass of wine! What do you think?

Talk to all later,

Good Morning everyone:

Yesterday at work was not great. Owner/boss was not in and I came across things that should have been done when I was not there. No supplies, no bags for garments to go out in, no cups (sorry men), no business cards!! How the heck does this place run!!:hyper:

Judi: I was thinking of you yesterday. Glad and the thoughts and prayers helped you get through the day. Hope all goes well at the Docs for DS.

Lynda: Thanks for the vote of confidence!!:sunny: Sometimes it can be tring. I just go in and do the BEST I can. Good luck on your new job. That's what I like about my job. It works the family. Tell me where can I go that my hrs are 10-3 T, W Th, and I'm off in the summer.

Ginger: I would love to get my hands on Mudslide jawbreakers:Pinkbounc Maybe we could find Cosmopitian (sp) hard candies. Yum Yum:drinking1 Sounds even better!!

Shari: Glad you didn't have much damage. My uncle is still without power.

Looks like Ivan will be heading in this weekend. Unbelievable weather, but it is hurricane season. Seems like more than usual.

Hope everyone has a good day. Off to work for day 3, then off tomorrow.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!:teeth:

WE HAVE POWER AGAIN!!!!! Now we are keeping our eyes on Ivan.:earseek:
Thank you everyone for your sending good thoughts my way during this time. It was quite frightening. The only other hurricane I have been through was when in 1985 in NY. At that time I was living at home, so the worry of a house was not on my mind. It is amazing to look around the neighborhood and see so much damage and even more amazing to know that we have no damage to our home. My heart goes out the the people who suffered great damage to their homes.

On a brighter note, we stayed at the BCV and had a wonderful time. We were able to swim in the pools until sat at 3:00. Then we ate at Cape Mays (my DH favorite resturaunt) which was $5.00 off the regular price due to the fact that we were not allowed to leave the property. Then, by 8:00 sat night, we had to stay in our rooms until Sunday late morning. We had power the whole time and were able to watch the weather and see pictures from our county as it was being pummeled by Frances. All in all, it was a nice distraction from the hurricane.

JUDI: I was so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you:grouphug: How old is TJ? I know how scarrey and asthma attack can be. My oldest son has asthma and allergies and has had it since 3yrs old. He has been on singular and zyrtec since 4th or 5th grade and has not had an asthma attack since!

I would definately want one of the discs with the pictures. I would sit on your verandah and drink wine with you while you make them too if you like!:teeth:

Have a great day everyone.

Hi Everyone,
I am once again cleaning up my yard. This time beacause of Frances. The good think is I need the exercise. My poison Ivy is finally drying up. I am taking benadryl tablets and putting caladryl lotion on it. I giess I will wear long sleeves next time I am messing with vines.

Judi- I thought about you yesterday and said a prayer for you. I lost my Dad in 96 and my Mom in 2003. I know how difficult it is to lose your parents. They are constantly in my mind and always will be. I sure losing both of your parents at the same time is even more difficult. Also THANK YOU for making the boats for the door. I would also love to buy a disk from you of the group. Let me know how much. When is your Sons birthday. Mine is October 30th. This cruise is my Birthday present from my husband.

Cindy- WElCOME to the group!!!

Dena - I am so glad to hear you have power again.

Shari -Glad to hear you are safe.

We are watching Ivan closely here in New Orleans too. We have been fortunate so far, but since I work in a hospital I cannot flee if it heads this way,so I am hoping for the best.

I feel the weight loss pain I have been dieting since November of last year so far I have lost 56lbs but I got over confident in my self and bought quite a few dresses in the size I assumed I would be in so now I really need to buckle down I have another 15lbs to go.

I love the disc idea count me in I cannot wait for the cruise all the docs at my hospital laugh and tease me because I know exactly how many days til I leave...

I pulled out my DS clothes last night to figure what he needs he hit a major growth spurt so shopping I go.

I'm glad everyone got through Frances. Our neighbors were in WDW, due to come home Saturday and finally got home Tuesday. I haven't talked to the parents yet, so I don't know what they did.
Next up, Ivan the Terrible. My inlaws, who are coming with us, live about an hour and a half north of Tampa, so they're in for this one, I guess.

Judi: I will probably dress up whether or not I take the kids around. We're going to MNSSHP the week before, and since we're buying adult costumes we figure we might as well get more use out of them than one night.

Good afternoon, everyone!

I'll probably be dressing up too, but my DH (who is very conservative) probably won't! As I've mentioned before on this thread, it's hard getting him into a tropical shirt never mind a Halloween costume!

Teri, glad to hear your poison ivy attack is better now. Long sleeves is probably a good idea. Too bad you have to clean up so many times from these awful storms; you must be exhausted! But glad to hear you're safe!

Julie, hope your in-laws are okay when Ivan hits! I'll keep my fingers crossed for their safety and no property damage!

Cindy, welcome to the cruise and to this thread! Everyone's so friendly and nice here, and this thread is absolutely addictive! It's nice to get in touch with people before the cruise though, especially people as warm and nice as the DISers on this thread!

Judi, forgot to say thanks for making up the boats for the doors! What a great idea! And it's so nice of you to go to the trouble of making them for everyone!

Michelle, are you the one who collects fridge magnets? Thought I remembered you saying this during previous posts but couldn't remember for sure. Just wondered!

Can someone please confirm the times we're planning to meet on the ship. We've talked about meeting at 5:30pm on the Saturday we leave; are we meeting at the front of the ship (sorry, don't have my ship terms down yet)?

And High Tea at Palos; is this Monday at 4:30pm? Just saw a post on the main cruise board that said High Tea is only served from 3-4pm so thought I'd better check!

disneediva WOW! that is wonderful. You go girl!!!! I know you can got off the last 15.

Lynda I had posted a good while ago about meeting on deck 10, yes, the front of the ship. In front of the basketball court, infact. The time was 4:30 so we could look for dolphins as the ship pulled away from the port.
I know for my family 5:30 would be hard for us to get it together if we have early seating. I booked early but when I change our ressie over to use DVC points we were placed on late, it was the only change to our reservation that DCL made.

Hey! Welcome back Dena.

Welcome aboard Cindy. I will be the T-0r-T information forward for you to read.

Hi Ginger!
Thanks for letting me know the right time (ie. 4:30pm in front of the basketball court) for our "meet" on the Saturday. I kind of thought 5:30pm was kind of late so thanks for clearing that up!

And High Tea is 4:30pm on the Monday? Is that right?

Good afternoon everyone:

Ginger: Thanks for all you time putting together a great T or T for the kids. I wonder who will have more fun, the kids or me handing out the treats.:Pinkbounc

Lynda: Yes, I'm the one that collects magnets.::yes:: That's why I should really Thank Judi. I haven't even boarded and I have a very special magnet from our cruise.

Judi: I also take alot of pictures so just let me know what you want us to do with the digital pics. I would love to but a disc too. Count me in!!!::yes::

Julie: I also have cousins in the Tampa area. Guess I'll have to call them next.

disneediva: You've done a great job so far losing weight!! I just went back to the gym today. Then I went and tried to play golf. What a game!!! I thought I would throw my clubs.:hyper:

Welcome Cindy, glad you'll be joining us.

Teri: hope this is the last time you have to clean-up from a storm.

Dena: Glad you have power. I have to call my uncle and see if he does. How were the kids taking the talk about the storm. Mine are old enough that it might scare them.

that's about it for now!!!

Lynda, Yes, High Tea on Monday, but I believe it's 3:30-4:30. Remember that's a reseravation that you have to make on your own, make sure you tell them you'll be with the "DIS" group.

Anyone heard from "rocadonismom". Carolyn are you still with us?

Good afternoon everyone.:sunny:

CINDY: Welcome aboard. Is this your first cruise? I have a DD who is 13 if you would like for her to email your DD, send me a PM and we can get them in touch.

disneediva: Good for you on the weight loss. I am trying to get the last of my pregnancy weight off. I joined a gym in June and was going regularly, but took about 3 weeks off in August due to minor surgery and now have not gone in the past two weeks due to the storm. I need to get back into the swing of things, so I can fit into my regular clothes for this trip!!

GINGER:WOW 52 TorTers!! Thats a big group!!:earseek: Could you add Emily to the list. She doesnt need to collect candy, but she will be there with Ashley. I am thinking of dressing the two of them as sulley and boo. Emily's hair is long enough for pig tails and Ashley has her sulley costume already.

Judi: Thank you for making the boat magnets. :boat: They are going to be great!

Have a great evening everyone.

I think Carolyn (rocadonismom) was having difficulty with regular computer access. Emma and I are planning to write to her by snail mail this week so hopefully we will be able to update about whether she is still joining us soon. I really hope so - she is a lovely person and she and Emma got on so well.

I am now about 14lbs lighter than I was when I cruised last year but am still hoping to lose a couple more pounds before we go. Afterall, the more you lose before, the less you have to lose afterwards!

Dena, I can't wait to see Emily in her costume - she will be SO cute.

Only 10 days now till Emma goes to China. we saw some photos of where she is going the other day - it looks fantastic. Talk about the trip of a lifetime.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

For all that are interested in the Orlando airport after Francis, finally spoke to Dad. He said that he didn't notice much damage, and hasn't seen much at WDW either, a few trees that have been cut up and stacked but not taken away. He went through Celebration and thought there was more there, and also went up to Beltz and saw damage there (Charley?) He has been having a hard time with his feet, he thinks he dislocated his good one from favoring it, but it did seem to pop back in after a few days. Ugh!! I wish he would have just gone and taken care of it, I think he was worried he somehow broke it, and didn't want to deal with a cast. (double UGH!) He is a little lonely there alone, esp. since he is not up to doing the park all day. He has talked to some other guests and enjoyed that time. He said it was easy using Philadelphia Airport, which is good to hear, because we are flying out of there for the cruise.

Just started to buy a few things for T or T. Don't want to buy to much until the final count comes in.

For all in Ivan's projected path, look at what it did when Jamaica started praying, amazing, I have never seen a hurricane move in that kind of way. It was like God picked it up and brought it around the island. Let's pray it works that way for everyone else!

I added REAS to our reservation when I paid the final payment. Just didn't want to worry about needing to be there first thing to get the reservations we wanted. We will probably be there early anyway, but I didn't want to have to stress over it.

Still deciding on Halloween costumes, DD- 7 wants to get and American Girl costume, but I'm not sure I want to spend that kind of money on it. Mom is going to make one for DD-11, but her sewing machine needs to be fixed first, so we will see. I keep going back and forth for the adult costumes. Had started to buy stuff to make them last year for MNSSHP but when my DStepM got very sick I didn't get it done, and only the kids dressed up. I may go back to those for me and DH. Just not sure.
TTFN,
Donna

Karen congrats on that weight loss, your right about the more the better.
I've got about 17 more to go myself. Starting today I'm going to kick my diet into high gear till the cruise.
I told Ashley no more Brownie Sundaes for me. That is until the cruise. LOL
I was reading though this thread the other day when I ran across Carolyn's last post. On her count down clock it says she is cruisin. I thought maybe she changed her sailing date.

Emma have a great time in China. I hope you can take lots of pictures. If you do please bring them with you on the cruise.

I've been looking at the REAS package too. I don't know how romantic a Cat 9. could be with a 7 year old sleeping a foot away from the bed.
Wonder what do they do different for the romance turn down service, other than any other night. And instead of Champagne do you think they would substitude a bottle of beer and a melon colada? Also, do you think they have adult toys in the romantic gift amenity package? :teeth:

HUMMMM! I think I'll save my money on this one, maybe use it for an upgrade at the port if anything is available.

On Dad, he expects to leave on Wednesday, but Ivan will decide. Dad is Diabetic so taking care of his feet is even that much more important, started having problems on our trip to Hawaii in April, and it just doesn't seem to be stopping.

Good morning all.

thanks for the good night sleep wishes. Unfortunately Emily didn't hear them. She woke at 3am and then got up at 6 to start the day.princess: At least I got her in for an early nap. I hope this is only due to teething and that she gets a tooth soon!:teeth:

Yesterday we got all of our suitcases out of the attic.:hyper: Now it seems like we are really going.

I added the REAS package, not for the romance, but for the convienence of the reservations, and for the massage. If I waited to get on board to book a massage, my DH would give me grief over the cost. By doing it this way, I just tell him its paid for already and then he is okay with it! I have to be sneaky like that!!

Well, my sister just called and wants to go walking, so I guess I better get my butt in gear!

Hmm, Dena - sounds like you're as sneaky as I am! HEE! HEE!

We were considering adding the REAS but decided against. However now I'm wavering again!

My only worry is the massage - for no other reason than that I am a little anxious in case Emma doesn't enjoy the Stack again and doesn't meet up with anyone like minded. I don't want her to be on her own too much.

How much is the REAS? Anyone know? It would be nice as it is our anniversary (23rd) on Halloween.

Dena, did they let you book brunch and High Tea as well as dinner at Palo.

Oh, I wish I was more decisive!!

By the way, Dena, I will have a word with young Emily when I see her. Sleep is good, baby, sleep is good!

Well, I should really be working, not lurking, so I will drop by later.

Have a good day, everyone.

I finally sat down and started filling the treat bags. We decided on a bag of pretzels, bag of teddy grams, gummy bears, a couple small pieces of candy, pencil, pumpkin straw, spider ring, and a disney keychain. Do you think that's enough?::yes::

I thought about doing the REAS package as well, but I think we skip it this time around. We only want to do one Palo night, not to picky and I don't need a massage. I'll just make the DH give me one. I thought about bringing some silk rose petals and a bottle of champagne, but I just found out that I may have some problem with my liver so no alchol for me until we figure it out. Probably nothing, but we are going to do more blood work to make sure. I asked the Doc if I can still go and he said sure! I figured if I had to I would be going even if attached to an IV!!!!

I got the disks, plastic covers and labels for the Halloween T & T. I'll take orders once we get together. I plan on bringing 50 on board and then if we run out, I'll just mail them when we get home. They will be between $2-3 dollars. I'll let you know once we get on board.

Ginger-count me in for the meet. I'll try and make tea if I can sneak away from the boys. I think mom needs some down time too.

I counted 2 kids under 1 and 2-3 kids ages 2 does that sound right? I made seperate treat bags for these guys since they can't have all the stuff. I figured on 47 treat bags so far, but have extra if I need some in the next few weeks. I can't believe we have that many kids. MY DS's have changed their minds about their costumes. Now TJ want's to be a pirate, and Alan is going to be a knight. I have a Lady in waiting costume, so I guess he will be my knight in shinning armour. DH will still be goofy(like he always is). By the way Tj is better now, luckly we got the bronchitis out with out having to use steriods. Now we are off today to the dentist. FUN!!!!

Have a great day!

Ginger- regarding the REAS package my TA called last month and the price did not go up if you already are booked for our cruise. They said it would be $299/per couple. I said I would consider it for that price. I would call the TA or disney and ask what the price is for our cruise.

Judi, don't forget to sign-up at Palo for the High Tea if you are thinking of joining us. If something comes up you can always cancel. I do hope there is nothing wrong with your liver or anything else for that matter.

Dena have you tried putting "SweetThing" down a little later in the evenings, but don't over stimulate her. Or maybe a little decaf Sleepy Time Tea and Tylenol before bedtime, a little night cap for her.:teeth: Mom can have a shot of rum WUWU!. I hope you're napping when she is, don't want you sick for the cruise.

No luggage out yet but I've got a nice collect of stuff going on in my closet.

I'm off from work tomorrow, Bill told me I had to pressure wash the decks. He's going to spray or roll deck protection on this weekend. He's also closing the pool, it's a chilly 70 degrees, we all jumped in yesterday for one last swim.

I got on the scales today, lost 2 more lbs but I blew it tonight with dinner, Stuffed Shells and garlic bread, I know bad girl, but I was tired and hungry. I'll workout longer and harder in the morning and get back on track.

You all have a great day tomorrow.:space: I'm off for now.

Judi I copied and pasted that information off the Disney Site.

That's great if it's less, but I'm not interested.
In my opinion it's too much money. And I say that only because they aren't offering anything that I'd be interested in.
I've never had a problem getting ressies at Palo.
We don't drink champange.
I find nothing wrong with the way the stateroom host turn the beds down.
I can bring my own toys.
And last, I don't want a woman to give me a massage.

Now if they are willing to find a good looking man like Joe Namath to give me that massage and let me sip a melon colada while he's doing it. Then I'd be glad to pay 10 times that amount. OH!! I'd be using my DH's money:teeth:

Rick and I went downtown to the Terminal to see the Disney Wonder in the Charleston Harbour. It was raining when we got there but we still had a great time. This is the 2nd time the Wonder had been in Charleston. She was here a few years ago running from a storm. We also got to hear the ships horn play "When You Wish Upon A Star". I actually goy teary eyed. Here Is the link to the Wonder below.

Ditto for me on ALL of the above . . except the Joe Namath part . . sorry. However, when I was a kid I was a member of Ozzie's Marching Chargers Honor Band, which was the offficial marching band for the San Diego Chargers. We did all the halftime shows (back then they were even televised - LOL). Once when the Chargers were playing the NY Jets and the band was lined up in the end zones waiting to take the field, Namath <I>knocked me down</I> as he was running off the field as halftime started. It was just a casual brush but enough to knock me flat. He picked me up and quickly apologized, then ran to the locker rooms. But even though I'm not a fan of his, I'll always remember that HUGE smile and I think about it every time I see your signature! ;)

Shari, He's never knocked me down, you lucky girl, but I've had a few Pro Baseball player run over me. I was a right sidelines Ballgirl for the Baltimore Orioles for 2 1/2 years.
Boog Powell flipped me over my sidelines chair during a game. He didn't take the time to pick me up, he did later ask me if I was O.K.. I also got chewed out by the front office for not getting out of his way fast enough.
I had fun with that job, Elrod Hendrickson taught me how pitch a baseball and Jim Palmer always wanted to brush my hair:crazy: . Jim later became my Bagboy at a gourmet grocery store I worked at. He would come in to shop and end up bagging groceries, as we talked.
Nice guy and I'm sure many women would have traded places with me but he just never did anything for me. It's been Joe and Joe only for me.:earseek:

Teri, I get weepy eyed everytime I see one of the ship in real life too.

O.K. I'm out of here, the sun is finally peeking throught the gloomy clouds.

When I voluntarily evacuated for Hurricane Frances, in addition to minimal clothing and such for the "mini vacation," I took <I>everything</I> I am taking on the cruise except my Halloween costume and treats for the T-or-T. Okay, I'll show my ignorance. Who is Joe Namath? I guess he's the guy on your signature, Ginger, but WHO is he? A sportsman of some kind? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Taswira, there is no hope for you. Mind you my MIL tells me you can never pack too early. Not that I listen to her - I usually do mine at the last minute, otherwise we take far too much. Come to think of it we take too much anyway. LOL.

This time next week Emma will be on her way to China. It has come round so fast that it has almost taken us by surprise in the end. I think she is all set now. I will miss her loads (might need my Disfamily next week!) but am so pleased that she will get this opportunity.

Once she gets back on October 3rd, there will be less than 3 weeks to go before we leave for Florida and less than 4 till we cruise. Sounds good to me.

Come to think of it we take too much anyway. LOL.Ha-ha - - I am the opposite. If I pack the night before a trip, I keep adding more and more stuff I don't need. My cruise packing is down to a science. I take ONE 26" soft-sided rolling suitcase (the bag I check at the DCL terminal) and ONE shoulder tote. That is my packing for the 7-night cruise. For the 3 or 4-night, my checked bag is a 24" soft-sided, wheeled suitcase.

Packing that way, I wear a different outfit to dinner each night and have different casual clothes for each day. No problem and no surprises. :teeth:

BTW - Joe Namath is the infamous "Broadway Joe" - the best quarterback the New York Jets football team ever had. He was quite a womanizer in his younger days. For a long time he dated a stunning blonde Floridian named Suzie Storm, but they never married. He wrote a book back in the sixties called "<I>I Can't Wait Until Tomorrow, 'Cause I Get Better Looking Every Day</I>." He had a few restaurants called "Broadway Joe's." He went on to become an occasional TV sportscaster. I don't know what happened after that. I guess he got married to someone and turned "normal." I'm sure Ginger must know what he's up to nowadays.

Hello everyone

Been a couple of days since I've been on. Busy!!!

Went back to the gym.

Disneediva: Hope Ivan turns away or at least weakens. Keep you in our thoughts.

Karen: Hope Emma has A great time. She has been chating with DS and some others going on the cruise by IM. DS just gets a kick out of the time difference and eveything else. Me too. ::yes::

Don't think DH will be dressing up but I may put a few things together.

Shari: I always pack too much. This time it may be too many shoes!!!:hyper:

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. busy in work. Seems since I've been back the owner has been off. What is going on!!!

Karen, Joe Namath is just an old boyfriend of mine, he's nobody really........... HA!HA! just joking.
Joe Willie Namath was a Pro Football player for the New York Jets, voted most valuable player of the year for a few years with them. He later went on to play for the LA Rams but that didn't last for long. He is in the Hall of Fame for professional football player. He has done numerous endorsement for an assortment of products, from womens panty hose to his own design of man underwear. Oh! Disney too..
He was doing alot of theatre.
His most recent call to fame was just this past Dec 20. when he appeared drunk while being interviewed by Suzy Kolber an ESPN sidelines reporter. They were at a night football game, apparently Joe had been drinking all day.
Suzy was asking Joe a question about his old team, the New York Jets, his reply to her was " I want to kiss you," slurring his words he continues to say....."I couldn't care less about the team struggling."
He did get into a rehab program just days after that interview. He went in as an outpatient at Hanley-Hazelden, a West Palm Beach rehabilitation facility specializing in treatment of older adults. He is now sober, but because of very public drinking problems has lost the respect of the endorsement people.
He has been divorced since 1999 from his much younger wife, Tatiana May Namath, and he has custody of their 2 daughters who are now 18 and 13.
I could go on and on but will stop here and finish with telling you that today he is 62 years old and is looking better than any man his age should.

Thanks Lynda for the heads up on the new book, I have it.

Wow, Ginger, he sounds like the George Best of American football! George was a supremely talented footballer (soccer)who basically drank and womanised all his talent away. He is also now around 60 I think but I have to say, he looks DREADFUL!

Here is a sample of the disc label that I designed for T & T. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

I want everyone's imput. I am going to put the labels on before we go so it will be done and all I have to do is burn the pictures. If anyone wants to contribute their pictures, make sure you bring your cable for your camera so we can download them. We have a kodak camera and I don't know if the cables can be used on other brand cameras.

Thanks

Hi everyone!

We are celebrating up here in Canada because our team just won the World Cup of hockey yesterday night against Finland! We are mad about hockey up here (and after our underwhelming performance at the Olympics....only 12 medals) so this is a big deal for us! It also looks like it might be the last hockey we see for a while because the NHL and the Player's Association are at odds and it looks like there will be a lockout. Winter is awful enough but without my beloved Leafs?!!!!!! I'll just have to concentrate on the cruise and forget about what happens after that!

Wendy: please stay safe; we are all thinking about you and New Orleans and Ivan!

Karen: please tell Emma to have a GREAT time! This is a once in a lifetime kind of trip and I'm looking forward to hearing about her experiences on the cruise! I went to Japan a long time ago (because I'm of Japanese descent) for a vacation and it was wonderful! I'm sure China will be just as fascinating! Plus Emma deserves such a great trip after all the work she did and the great results she received in her exams! I still can't get over the fact that she had to write 13 exams!

Michelle: I went back to Curves after a 2 week layoff (too busy with back to school and last minute vacation activities) on Monday. Had to tell myself to go so I would be in decent shape for the cruise! Planning on going again tonight. Re the bridal salon, maybe you should just have a coup, oust the owner and take over yourself (although it sounds like you're doing everything already!)! Hang in there, only 6.5 weeks until vacation!

Judi: I couldn't access your label (they block everything here at work because of viruses) but I'm sure it's fine! Thanks for doing all this work (labels, boats, etc)!

Shari: I laughed my head off when I read your post about taking your suitcase with you! I'm not packed but I have my list that I've revised a million times! I went on a RCI cruise in April and overpacked, so I vowed that I would not do that on the Disney cruise! But I probably will still bring too many things. Michelle, you're right, it's those shoes that manage to find themselves in my suitcase!

Scott: I know, isn't it unbelievable how fast time is going?!! We booked around the same time you did and it seemed forever! This thread and Shari's website really helped though; it's so neat to "talk" to folks before you actually meet them on the cruise!

Have a good day everyone, and especially Wendy, take care!

Good morning everyone.

WENDY: My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family this morning. Keep safe!:grouphug:

We are finally getting back to some sort of normality around here since Frances hit. Brendan finally went back to school yesterday. YEA.:teacher: That went pretty well. Ashley has been doing her school work all along. I figured, let her do it now so she can take the time off for the cruise and not be too far behind.

My youngest sister, who is a teacher, went back to work on Tuesday, however, her day care provider did not have power yet, and now has mold on her walls, so I am watching my niece Olivia (13 months old). My other sister Kim, who is 8 weeks pregnant was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, due to severe vomiting and dehydration. So I am also watching my other neice Kayla (3 and 1/2 years old). I feel like I am running a day care center!:crazy2: But what was I going to do, I couldn't say no.

Judi: I couldn't access your lable either, but whatever you come up with is fine with me.

Ginger: I think someone is a little obssesed with Joe!!:lovestruc You make me laugh! I think a few posts back you asked me about Emily and her bedtime. I have tried everything that I could think of to get her to sleep longer; putting her in later, giving her tylenol, motrin, rubbing brandy on her gums, giving her a bath with camameil and lavender body wash. She just doesnt sleep all night. She seemed to finally start getting into the habit of sleeping longer, just before the hurricane came. Then when we spent the time out at WDW, she started getting up again. I have to move Ashley out of the room again and just let Emily cry herself back to sleep at night. I just hate to do that.

Shari: I also laughed when I read about you taking your cruise suitcases.:rotfl: I always try not to pack too much, except for shoes!! My DH on the other hand, packs for a month!!

Well, thats about all of my news for now. Have a great day everyone.

Hi all:wave2:

Dena, I feel for you, I did daycare for 5 years.:crazy2:
Obssesed, NO not at all... just crazy about the man for the past 34 years. He should have looked for me when he was loking for a wife. He wouldn't have all the problems he has today.:lovestruc LOL

Shari, I thought it was a great idea to pack your cruise bags and take them with you. I can't say I would have thought to do that. Your a true organized planner.
Thanks for the information on Golden Mickey, I looked for the show last year on the Magic but it was not playing aboard yet.

Wendy I hope everything is going well with you.

Off to workout, you all have a good day.

Hi everyone,
Just one of my periodic posts. Lynda you struck a nerve. I am also mourning the possible loss of the NHL season. I don't know what to do without my Flyers. I had a little hope when we saw some of the players at their training rink last week. Oh well at least I have my DS's youth team to watch all year.

I love the <I>Golden Mickeys</I> show. It sounds like the two new nighttime after-parties are supposed to be like the post-Oscar parties, so I'm hoping they do have something special in addition to the normal Karaoke stuff. Maybe they will be very "glitzy" parties. :teeth: I wear my dressiest stuff to the <I>Golden Mickeys</I> for the "red carpet walk".

Lynda,

As you being a Canadian, I just thought I'd let you know our trip to Nova Scotia last month was wonderful. It was something we were looking for: completely different than we were used to.

The ferry from Portland, ME to Yarmouth, NS was hard, not for any sea-sickness, but rather the late night and early (5:00AM) morning. I was surprised by how few people live in Nova Scotia. I described the highway as driving in a tunnel. There are dense forest on both sides of the road. All you see are trees and shrubs on both sides of the road, and since there is rarely any elevation change, the forest is about all you get to see for much of your travel away from the shoreline.

The shoreline though is GORGEOUS. There is more untouched shoreline here than I have seen anywhere. The views of beaches, and forests growing along side are priceless. We saw dozens of lighthouses, and had the most delicious lobster dinner at a restaurant literally on the water (waves lapping under the deck). We were in awe of the colorful sunset to the west and moon rising in the east. Then, the mosquitoes came and we quickly finished our meal! No desert that night!

All-in-all, it was a nice place to visit. Probably a little too slow for the children, yet I still think they enjoyed themselves. If I were to do it again, it would be just me and my wife, and we would take the faster ferry (3 hours from Bar Harbour), rather than the 11 hour overnight ferry that we experienced. It made that first day there quite long.::yes::

Canada is a wonderful country. We love to visit, and it's so close. We are hoping to again go skiing in Quebec between Christmas and New Years. (We love to travel!)

Scott, so glad you enjoyed your trip to Nova Scotia! It is a very unspoiled place and the seafood is so delicious! I've been to Halifax a few times and just loved it! Very pretty, great food, very friendly people, it was just lovely. I've only done a bit of driving around Nova Scotia itself (and I was pregnant with my first child and had that all day morning sickness!) and I found it so pretty and peaceful. Lunenberg was very nice and so was Peggy's Cove.

Quebec is also a beautiful province and we'd like to go skiing there one day too! If your children want something a little 'more happening', come to Toronto! It's a very vibrant city with lots of theatre shows, sports teams, multiculturalism, museums... I could go on and on!

Glad to hear you love travelling and that you like Canada so much! And I'm really looking forward to meeting you on the cruise!

Michelle: You can never have too many shoes. Never. We had an entire suitcase full of shoes last time. You never, ever know when you'll need that certain pair of shoes. You can see why dh hates the run up to vacation, not to mention carrying all our bags.

I like looking at those countdown clocks.

We were watching the weather channel, and when dd saw TS Jeanne she asked if there were going to be any islands left to go to. Has this been a really bad hurricane season? Not in the numbers, but just in the fact that so many are hitting land?

WARNING, every time we plan a vacation something bad happens. I won't run down the list, but it's pretty bad-- including but not limited to 1 tropical storm (2001), 1 hurricane (last year), and an outbreak of St. Louis encephalitis (I'm sure I spelled that wrong). And that's just the natural disasters. The man made ones-- I don't even want to discuss. :(

Good evening everyone

To all my shoes friends: How many have you packed in the past? I am going on the Golden Eagle Catamaran excursion, do you think I'll need to have water shoes? do you think I can wear my sneakers or should I wear my flip flops?

Emma: Have a great time in China. Take lots of pictures and please bring them on the cruise. We would all love to see them!!!::yes::

Lynda: I have been trying to hit the gym 3 times a week. Hard to do. I get up and just push myself to go. As far as the shop goes, I don't think I want all the headaches, but if I did own it I would do things differently. Now I just do things her way, it's not even that, she isn't there enough to get anything done and things just sit around.

Dena: Looks like you have your hands full. Here's hoping Emily will sleep through the night when we cruise.

Well, that's it for now. Chat with you all tomorrow.

BTW, has anyone had this happen to them. I go to post and I must be on long, then when I'm finished typing to everyone and try to submit it tell me I wasn't logged in when I am. Please don't tell me it's usere error. That's my DH's line!!!

See ya

Hi all,

Well we made it back, the traffic was horrible going out of town. The drive to Baton Rouge ( where my beloved Tigers play) was 9 hours ,its normally a 1 1/2 drive. But better to be safe than sorry. We arrived back this morning and only had some branches down. After seeing the pics from Pensacola I am VERY VERY happy that Ivan turned, not for them mind you but we live in a fishbowh here in New Orleans.

Trish my 12 year old niece will be traveling with us, PM me and maybe they can chat before the cruise.

Well off to unpack but at least now my suitcases are out I won't have to bug my husband to do that for me..

Good afternoon all. This is day three and daycare central, and I am going crazy!! When my kids were younger they were ages 4 1/2, 1 and a newborn. Not too different from the ages I am watching now. Boy, I don't know how I did it back then!!:crazy2:

Emily is trying to be just like her cousins now. She crawls all over following them. If they are drinking from a cup, she wants a drink from a cup. If they eat a snack, she wants some too. If they are standing at the coffee table, she pulls herself up to stand at the coffee table!!!!!! I am not ready for that yet:earseek: And now, when I put her in her crib for a nap, she pulls herself up to stand!! I keep trying to tell her she is too little for that, but she will not listen to me!princess:

She did however, sleep from 7pm- 4am got up and age and then slept from 4:20am- 7:20am. YEA!!:cheer2:

WENDY: Glad to hear you are safe and sound. I will be glad when this hurricane season is over!

WELCOME TRISH: I sent you a pm about your DD emailing my DD.

MICHELLE: I LOVE SHOES!! The last cruise we went on I brought one of those hanging plastic shoe racks for the closet to keep my shoes in and I loved it. I usually bring: 1 brown and 1 black pair of sandles, 1 pair beach flip flops, 1 pair of canvass keds, 1 pair walking sneakers, 2 pairs black open toe high heels, 1 pair open toe 1 inch heels, and 1 pair closed toe heeled dress shoes. I will probably bring the same shoes this time as well. I just feel like I need all those shoes. :p

Well, thats all for now, I am going to call Debbie at DCL and see if I can make my REAS ressies today.

Although I have WAY too many shoes in my closet at home, I do force myself to limit my "cruise shoes" to what will fit with my clothes into my one checked bag and my carry-on tote bag. That usually means 4 pair total - - 1 pr. dress sandals for evening, 1 pr. casual or walking sandals for day, 1 pr. thongs to serve as "shower shoes" and for in the stateroom/on the verandah, and 1 pr. sneakers or other "closed" shoes. Since I usually wear the latter when boarding, that only leaves 3 lightweight pair to pack. No problem. I am happiest when I pack lightly.

I remember last year on <I>Cruisetoberfest</I> - They had already delivered my one checked bag quite early. When I got ready to leave my stateroom, I could not get out my door because 5 HUGE bags were in front of it - and we're talking <I>steamer trunk</I> size! I saw my stateroom host in the corridor and called him over to ask about it. He said, "<I>These are the rest of your bags</I>." I informed him I only had ONE. He looked shocked. Then he looked at the luggage tags and discovered that, yes, he had made a mistake. They belonged to a couple a few rooms down. Whew!

Packing light gives me a whole lot less to worry about, and a whole lot more room in my stateroom! But yes, Dena - If I still have space left in my bag, I usually find something to fill it. :teeth:

I keep thinking we will be bringing more shoes then normal because of the costumes. I was so hoping to keep the packing to a minimum, even thinking about sending some of our stuff out to be cleaned/washed so we didn't bring so much. Oh well, guess not.

I finally got our car rentals taken care of. Budget from the airport returned to Cape Canaveral, $28.95 including tax for the day for an intermediate. When we get back to Cape Canaveral we are using National, they don't offer a shuttle, but cab fare is sopose to be $11, and I got a rate of $88.21 for a fullsize, 3 day rental.
Worked for me. When I started looking Budget scared me concerning the return, they came up with a quote of $299 for a compact, not even sure it included tax. Kept looking and think I did well in the end.

Still have to decide if we will stay in Philly the night before our flight. There are some hotels that offer free parking with your stay. Would end up near free when you consider they offer a free breakfast and the cost of airport parking. Just have to find out if our trip exceeds their max stay.

Welcome Trish.

Wendy, glad to hear things are ok there.

Ivan came through friday night knocking out the cable but at least we had power. So we thought!!! Yesterday morning around 9:00 am I was on the computer when all of a sudden. Pop. pop, pop, there went the transformer. We lost power until today at 3:00 pm. A large tree feel on the lines and damaged a pole. I guess from all the rain, because the tree was uprooted. This has been the 3rd time in 5 weeks that we lost power for more than 24 hours. It's really getting the neighbors upset, especially since alot of them are doctors. They better trim the trees or this winter we might be without power for awhile. We tried to find a generator but they are all sold out up to 60 miles away. I guess they shipped them all down south or to Pittsburgh because of the power outages and flooding up there.

The cruise is looking better every day! Started to pack some of the little stuff that I don't need right now. I am taking 5 pairs of shoes, black sandels, gold shoes, my formal shoes, white pair and a pair of casual shoes. Of course the others will only be taking 6 pairs between the 3 of them. Boy it must be nice to be a guy.

I finished the magnets and the cd's are ready to burn once we get together. I need to go over my list again to see if I need to get anything else. I have to work the next 4 days, so I guess I will get to it next week. Have to get my skirt hemmed and my boys pants need to be hemmed as well, but the neighbor said she would do it for me. I droped the formal gown off as well as ds sport jacket to get adjusted. This will be ready for pickup on Oct 19.

Hope everyone has a great week!!!

Wow I feel like a slacker. I haven't even made my list of what to bring never mind start packing.
Is it worth returning the rental car before the cruise and rerenting. We have a 1 week 5 day rental minivan for an astronomical amount Then we have to park at the port for the week.
Is it extremely inconvient to drop the car off and take the shuttle over. Will the shuttle pick you back up? I usually have my own car so I usually don't stress about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone,
FINALLY!!! WE had a beautiful sunny weekend here in Charleston.:sunny: The past month has been rainy weekends. I have also been preparing for the cruise.I have my Trick or Treat bags all filled and ready to go. I have about 70 made. I also made decals for the t-shirts Rick and I will wear the first day of the cruise. I have my door sign made and ready to print. I have my cruise agenda ready to type. I have my cruise packing list typed up. Now I just have to pack!!! I think the anticipation is almost as good as the cruise itself. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!!

good morning everyone. It is raining here in Florida this morning. :umbrella: That is very unusual to wake up to.

Emily finally has started sleeping 9-10 hours at night!!! :Pinkbounc For the past 3 nights I have put her to bed from 7-8pm and she sleeps until 4-6. then she gets a bottle and goes back to sleep for 3 more hours. Finally some rest for Mommy!

TERI: I cant believe you have your TorT bags ready to go. I have all of the stuff, but not the bags yet.

My sister is finallly getting out of the hospital today. She is finally able to eat some food and put a few pounds back on. The Drs say the baby is still doing fine.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone!

Judi: too bad about your power outage! Wow, 3 times in the last 5 weeks, that's a lot! Hope everything is okay now.

Trish: welcome to the thread! Only 6 weeks to go before we cruise!

Emma: hope you have a wonderful trip to China! Take lots of photos and hopefully you will be able to bring them to the cruise (if you have room in your luggage and they're not too heavy!)! Have fun!!!!

Dena: great news about Emily's sleeping and your sister! Maybe Emily's turned the corner and will begin giving you restful nights! And I'm glad to hear your sister is putting on weight and the baby's doing fine!

Ginger: hope your damage from Ivan wasn't too bad. The only effect we had up here was a cloud cover that looked like a blanket on Friday night. When the sun went down, the orange rays combined with the cloud cover looked so weird. It was really neat to see. We thought we might get rain from Ivan as well, but we were lucky and it was just the clouds that we got.

Wendy: soooo glad you are okay after Ivan! I kept hearing about how vulnerable New Orleans was on the radio and kept thinking about you!

Michelle: made it to Curves 3x last week! I took 2 weeks off the last week of August and the first week of school, so i really had to force myself to go back! At one point, I was on one of the machines and I knew I wasn't working very hard, so I kept saying "cruise, cruise, cruise" to myself to motivate me into pushing a little more! I'm trying to lose a little weight before we go because I know I'll put on a few pounds with all that great food on the Magic! Plus I don't want the worry of putting on a few pounds either!

Debbie: too bad about the NHL lockout, eh? It looks like we might be without hockey for quite a while because the players and owners are so far apart. Maybe after a month or two, they'll be more agreeable to talking and settling, but it seems very bitter. Fans up here seem to be more in favour of the owners but of course, we still love our hockey players!

dis4me: I've never done the rental/shuttle, but I've heard that it's best to return the rental car and take the shuttle and save the parking fee while you're cruising. Maybe post a thread on the main cruise board and see what advice you get.

I filled up the Halloween trick or treat bags on the weekend;I didn't want to leave this to the last minute and then be scrambling to get them done the night before! Plus it gives me a good idea of how much space they take (they filled a jumbo and a large ziplock bag). I think I've got my shoes down to 4 pairs: 1 pair of pink slipons for dressier wear, 1 pair of running shoes, 1 pair of sandals and 1 pair of beach shoes. I might throw in another pair of sandals (and as I'm typing, maybe another pair of dress shoes...this is how I always end up in trouble!) but I'm really trying to keep the shoe count down! I was on a cruise in April and took a lot of shoes and pulling my suitcase around the airports almost killed me!

Have a great day, everyone!

Boy!!!! you all sure are getting organized. I do have the T-or-T maps finished just have to print them and put them together. Also have to wait to see if there will be any more staterooms to add. I have our door magnets finished and the paper signs for everyone. I've got the candy and bags but I'm not going to put them together until Saturday night on the ship. I've tried pulling them together and packing them in the past but found they took up to much packing space.

Dis4me, I would get a price for doing both. What rental company are you using? Are they near the port? It is $70. to park at the port for a week. I think the rental companies near the port all have shuttle to and from.
We drive our own and stay at the Radisson, they offer free parking for the week and a shuttle service to and from the port.

Dena, glad to hear that your sister and baby are doing better. Also happy for you, Emily's sleeping habits have improved, good.

I'm just packing a 6 pairs of flip-flops, 1 pair of Tennies.:teeth:

Judi if you don't mind me asking, what kind of work do you do? I thought you were a stay at home mom.

I found out that we had a tornado go through our area Friday night. You've never heard the air drill sirens go off in the middle of the night before but they did Friday, scared me. We live very close to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, never know whats going to happen there. They are always setting something off.
We suffered no damage to our property but a few houses in the area were destroyed.

Trish, I sent you and email about the T-or-T. Waiting to hear from you.

Anyone else want to sign up for the T-or-T?????

Off to clean my dirty house today, see you all later.:wave2:

Hi Everyone,

Dena- I am glad to hear that Emily is sleeping through the night, I am also glad your Sister is home from the Hospital.:D

Linda- It is amazing how many pair of shoes I think I need before the cruise, I usually don't wear 1/2 of them. I am taking 1 pair black dess shoes, 1 pair tennis shoes, 1 pair water shoes, 1 pair sandals. See I am already at 4 pair with just bare neccesites!!:p

Ginger- sounds like you have been busy getting the TorT organized and ready. Why do you need 6 pair of flip flops??:earseek:

Hello All,
Wow everyone is really organized. As much as I try I am a last minute person. I did move some things I want to pack to a different part of my closet. I have thought about going through my ds's things to make sure they have enough nice dinner clothes.

I have a theory on shoes. I love them and I think it is because they are the only thing in my closet that will always fit. At this point I am at about 4 to 5 pairs.

I have to get ready for work.

Hi Everyone-
Just wanted to introduce myself- My name's Donna and we'll (DS Ryan (3) and DH Brian) be joining you on the cruise- It's been in the planning stages for so long and now it seems like the time is speeding along- I agree with Teri- the anticipation is awesome. This will be our 1st cruise and I've been getting so much info on these boards (Thanks-)
I've been pulling some T ot T stuff together- I'll wait a little bit for the chocolate though-
So I just wanted to say, Hi- and that I can't wait to meet you in person.

Debbie I love your theory on shoes, never thought of that.

I have a problem on cruises, my feet and legs swell so bad that my shoes don't fit, so it flip flops for me. I did go to the doctors last week and she give me a script for fluid pills, hopefully they'll work and I can wear my nice dress shoes.
Also had my cholesterol checked:( bad news there (273)LDL was 202. Seems I'm a walking heart attack just waiting to happen. Good thing I've been dieting and working out, Lord knows what it would have been if I hadn't lost 20 lbs. The doctor is giving me till December to get it down, then if the numbers aren't down it's meds for me.
I'll have to watch what I eat and drink on this cruise.:magnify: :drinking1
So no:cake: for me.

Still looking for T-or-T'ers.

Each time I wanted to quit, I kept saying cruise clothes cruise clothes it psyched me up enough to make it through. Thanks for the warm thoughts during Ivan, with the way New Orleans is a direct hit from a hurricane that big would have our entire city under water.

Dena- I am glad your sister is well and that Emily is sleeping for you.

I started to get my clothes organized this weekend I made a list of what to wear and what to bring with as far as shoes etc.

We started the T & T bags , it is coming so close now..

Good morning everyone!

Ginger- I work at CJ Banks, a women's clothing store for sizes 14-24. Our sister store is Christopher & Banks, which is located nationwide. CJ's is slowly moving to the east coast and south. We just opened 3 stores in WV this year and 2 in Southwestern PA the past month. I only work usually 2-3 days a week usually evenings. But this week I have to work 4 day shifts because our manager had to go to Pa and help open one of the new stores. I am the only part-timer available during the day since the boys are in school. I don't mind doing this occasionally especially since I am going to take off for 11 days for our vacation.

Can't believe we only have 5 weeks left!!!!:bounce: Can't wait to get on the boat and meet everyone. The boys are actually getting excited finally.

Got to go get ready for work 9-5 today. Have a great day.

Welcome Donna. You are going to LOVE this cruise!!!:teeth: I think this is number 7 or 8 for us.

Ginger: Sorry to hear about your cholesteral. Does this mean no chocolate covered treats at the rad?

Debbie: Getting back on the subject of shoes again. I agree with your theory. I know my shoes will always look good on me no matter how much I pig out!!:p I also forget, that we don't have to fly anywhere, and we are only going for 7 days, so our luggage is a bit easier for us than the rest of you guys. Therefore I can take 8 pairs of shoes.

I finally ordered my tickets for MNNSHP.:hyper: We are going on the 17th, so that is less than a month away.

Have a great day everyone.

Judi, we have Joseph Banks here, maybe another branch of your company. Very nice upper grade $$$$ of clothing. Have a great day at work.

I've been working out everyday, this morning I squeezed into a pair of old demin shorts that I haven't been able to get over my hips in 2 years.

Still cleaning the house, I'll never put it off again for 2 weeks. Anyone need some toys, I think they are multipling here. I see the need to add on another addition to this old house. I guess I 'd better cancel our Repo cruise and call the contractor.

Packing already? Oh no, we haven't even started packing. We need to go out and buy more Halloween junk for the bags, though someone mentioned not too much junk? Is that right? Because my kids are all set to give out trash bags of trinkets.

Last year before our first cruise I had detailed lists and charts four months ahead of time. We're much more relaxed this time around. I hope we don't regret it.

Does anyone know if Disney is offering any special gift baskets/goodies for the cruise?

Yeah . . I guess whether they offer it this year depends on how well it went over last year. I do seem to recall that last year they did not start offering it for order until two or three weeks before Halloween. So even if they DO offer it again this year (and I am HOPING), it may not show up on their website yet. I'm going to keep checking at least weekly.

Guess what I bought and Claires. I bought a Halloween Bowa. That's right. One of those feather things. Orange and black with silver threads in it. I LOL when I went up to purchase it. That's it. My costume is done.

Debbie & Lynda: I laughed when I read your posts about liposuction, my dh cousin had it done in her thighs, hips and buttucks last summer 8 weeks before we cruised. Needless to say, she was still a little sore when we sailed.

I finally made my REAS ressies.:hyper: It seems so real now!! I cant wait.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello!

Michelle: I don't start the new job now until November, after the cruise. I have to write an exam to get my licence to sell insurance and they're all booked up until November. Since we're going to WDW and the cruise, I told my new boss that it would make more sense to wait until after we come back. I'm just hoping that I don't have to write my exam Nov 8; I sure don't want to have to study on the cruise! In the meantime, I'm working for an insurance company writing up training programs for their employees. It's a contract job and my boss here said that there's plenty of work to do so he didn't mind me staying a few more weeks. Thanks for asking! And Robert sent Keith an email this morning!

Karen: congrats on 600 posts! Wow, that's a lot! And it's so neat that Emma's is seeing such historical places in China!

Dena: congrats on the REAS reservation! Boy, this cruise is really coming closer, isn't it? You can feel the excitement on the thread as people are starting to pack, make reservations, etc.

Take care everyone!

HI Everyone,
Hope you all are having a good day.

Benji and RobynC- WELCOME

Michelle- I ordered my pirate stuff from Pirate Cove Gift Shop. Here is the link.
http://piratescove.safeshopper.com/ We also went to The Party Store here in Charleston and they had a lot of great costumes as well as a good selection of pirate stuff.

Dena- I hope the hurricane will not affect you.

Is anyone else beside Dena, Ginger, and me staying at Radisson Friday night before the cruise?

Hi Teri!,
We're staying at the Radisson too the night before. We're driving down from WDW the morning of Oct 29, spending the day at the Kennedy Space Centre and then staying the night at the Radisson. It's our first time there so I'm looking forward to it. We're booked on the 10:30am shuttle to the port the next morning.

I'm hoping that the Radisson will keep our luggage for us when we check in in the morning. Do any of you Radisson veterans think this will be a problem? I thought I'd call the hotel and ask them too.

Dena: hope that you don't have too much hurricane damage! Forgot to mention this in my last post! Boy, I don't know how you are doing it, handling all these storms!

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the welcomes!
We're staying at the Radisson too the night before. I think we're also on the 10:30 shuttle. We are all so excited! Our kids are little (4 and almost 2) but they can barely contain themselves too. All this anticipation is out of control!

Hey everyone! It's getting crazy around here again. People are starting to panic about Jeannie. The storms are mobbed and the lines for gas are outrageous! I dont know if I should stay, or try to go out to disney again.

I guess I'll have to wait and see what the storm is going to do.

Robyn: I read your profile and see that you are into scrapbooking and stamping. Those are my favorite pastimes as well, especially scrapbooking. Unfortunately, since I have had the baby, I have fallen behind a bit.:p

Well, I hear Emily waking from her nap now.

Hi again:

Teri: Thanks for the link. When I get off the boards I'll check it out. Our Party City had some things but not very much. Just want something small.

Dena: I didn't realize that Jeanne was headed your way. Pray that it turns before it get any closer. How is that baby of yours sleeping? Still through the night? How about that tooth?

We are not staying at the Radisson. I feel so alone!!:sad1: well< I do have 2 families we are traveling with. I'm hoping we get to the port early. We fly in about 9:30 and pick up the DCL transport from the airport. We should be there early. So if you guys see a Red head with glasses that would be me!!

Okay, better go have to make dinner. Back to school night for DS 13 7th grade.

Lynda: Will you be at Disney before the cruise? For how many days. We'll be there staying at VWL from Sunday to Thursday.

We were thinking of staying at the Radisson, but decided to stick around Orlando and are staying at Shades of Green on Friday.

What's everyone getting for the smaller kids (3 and under)?

WE will all have to have a "DIS" Meet Friday Evening. That way we will all know each other when we board the shuttle. HEY I want to be first in Line at the terminal!!(Just Kidding) I want to be among the first 100. Has anyone received their documents yet? I can't wait to get them.

Dena and RobynC- I also scrapbook!!! I LOVE IT!!!

Unless the projected path changes again, it will go straight from Orlando to us! We are really sick of this. There are still unbelievable amounts of downed trees and debris to be collected, and it won't get done before this hurricane. They are just too many and too close! Our house is supposed to withstand up to 150 mph, but other than possible outside damage, what really gets to me is the aftermath - especially the probability of no power! This is a <I>major</I> downer!

I planned to park at the port for our cruise, and the day we arrive back at port I intend to head over to MK for the passholder preview of <I>Stitch's Great Escape</I>. If there are still hurricanes lurking the week we sail, I may end up just begging a friend for a ride, as I really don't want to leave my car in the lot for the hurricanes!

Well we had quite a hectic day here... My sister and her fiancee decided about three months ago to join us on the cruise well last night they decided to get married in St. Thomas on the beach. So we spent ALL day today shopping for dresses for her my mom and I to wear at the wedding. We are scrambling now to get everything done in record time.

Dena, Robyn, Teri- add me to the scrapbooking club I love to do my book, it relaxes me.

Good evening everyone!

Teri: thanks for the link for the Kennedy Space Centre! I'll be sure to check it out! Yes, it looks like there are a few of us at the Radisson the night before; I would be interested in having a mini-dis meet on the Friday. What do you guys think?

Julie: we're staying at the Polynesian Oct 26-28, going to MNSSHP Oct 26 (yes, the day we arrive; oh well, we might be tired but I'm sure the party will pep us up!), then driving to Port Canaveral to spend the day at the Kennedy Space Centre (my DS wants to be an astronaut when he grows up; if that doesn't work out, then he wants to be a paleontologist or an architect!). We will spend the night at the Radisson and then off on the cruise the next day! Also, Elizabeth sent a pm to your DD tonight!

Wendy: how exciting about the wedding! A beach wedding in St. Thomas sounds wonderful! And I sent a copy of Robert's email to your DS in a pm.

Hope Jeanne isn't too hard on your Florida folks! Have a good night everyone!

Hello all. I am supposed to be working but am really so not in the mood. So I've come on here instead.

Dena, I really hope that the latest storm/hurricane/pain in the behind doesn't give you any trouble.

Are we likely to have any problems like this when we cruise? We haven't has this for the past 2 years when we've sailed at Halloween but it certainly seems that this year is a bit out of the ordinary.

Emma will have visited the Great Wall and Summer Palace today and tonight is her last night in Beijing before moving on. I am still missing her but the time is passing reasonably quickly and I don't want to wish it away as I want her to enjoy every second.

Well, duty calls I suppose. have a good day everyone.

Hello, All!

I checked in here about a month ago and was warmly welcomed, but somehow never got back to posting again. So, I thought I'd give it another try and hopefully get to know some of our fellow cruisers before we leave.

We are first-time cruisers:
Me - Jennifer (expecting baby #2 in March)
DH - Chuck
DS - Matthew (4 yrs)

After much discussion, Matthew decided that he would like to be included in the trick-or-treating, if it's not too late. (I'm not sure why he was hesitant, but he seems pretty sure now.)

By the way, our docs came yesterday afternoon - made the cruise seem much more immediate!

I hope that everyone here is able to saty safe from Jeanne.

I can't believe you got your docs already. I guess I''ll have to stop by my TA on monday and see if ours are here yet. Her office is downtown near the courthouse, so I have to go down and find out what I need to do for voting. Staying home today, it's football saturday here in Morgantown. Too many crazy drunk fans of West Virginia University Mountainneers. We play James Madison and are predicted to win. WVU is ranked number 6th in the nation:jumping1: :cheer2: Just don't like going out and dealing with all the traffic.

I think I am done shopping, except for the boys treats that I am going to send to Shirley to put in Hallloween Buckets. I was going to just send one to TJ for his b-day but then I know Alan will get mad. So I will send them both something but add a present or two for TJ. Can't decide if I want to purchase the B-day decorations from Disney or the Halloween one. I know with the b-day you get a small cake for your room, not sure about the halloween one. But if I get the halloween decorations, Shirley said she could add a small cake to the buckets. Too many decisions!!!

Have a nice weekend! Weather looks great here. Mid 70's and sunny. I have to work sunday and tuesday, but then have off for a week. Yea!!

Good morning all, I am sure this will be my last post for a few days. Guess where Hurricane Jeanne is headed, right for the treasure coast with Ft Pierce, Vero Beach and Sebastian to get the worst. Guess where we live? the treasure coast - sebastian. We left for Frances, but decided to stay for Jeanne. Now they are saying to expect wind gusts of 150mph! YIKES!!! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!!! The whole area has not yet recovered from the last hurricane and this one could be much more devistating if it gets as strong as they say it will.:(

GINGER: I think I still have your phone # and will try to get ahold of you as soon as I can to let you know how we are.

Well, back to preparing for the storm. They say we should be getting rain and TS winds by noon.

I hope you will stay safe, Dena (and everyone else in the path of Jeanne).

At our house, we would have been better off if the hurricane came at us from the east coast. Now, for us it will either be a hurricane or a strong tropical storm, but on the current projected path we will be on the east side of the eye. That means TORNADOES. Our community experienced lots of damage from numerous tornadoes from Charley. With Frances it was mostly the hurricane's wind and water damage. But tornadoes are <I>scary</I> too, and nowhere to "hide" from them.

The mayor of Daytona Beach and the county emergency services here gave a much more "state of crisis" speech this morning than for the last two. They assured us that the "tropical storm" will start early this evening here and continue for 24 HOURS, either developing into a full-blown hurricane or remaining a strong tropical storm but with winds <I>gusting</I> up to 120 and possibly occasionally 140 mph. They are so right about "Hurricane Fatigue." I think everyone in Florida (not to mention the rest of the southeast) has <I>had enough</I> of this "intense" hurricane season.

Take care, everyone. Stay safe!

Just jumping in here...but Disney told me (when checking on RobynC and Benji's docs) that all docs will be sent by 14 days prior to sailing!

Also, those using TA's, just call them about yours. We get ours sometimes and will have them for days before letting the passenger know they are in. Just a matter of getting to them, when other things going on might be of more importance. SO, no harm calling and asking, as they might just be sitting there!

Hi All,
I've not had a much time to post, just a minute to lurk and update the list.
Just wanted to let you know that I haven't dropped out.
Bill my DH and I have been helping some folks in our area that were hit very hard by one of the tornados that went threw here Saturday morning. They are all retired older people who really have no one nearby to help them. The county is providing large dumpster for the clean-up but nothing else, no funds. They all have home owners ins. but only the minumum. The ins companies will only pay for damages to their homes and is fighting some of them about that. They will not pay for downed trees to be removed.

There is one widow, who is 79, just had heart surgery. She had 70 large Oaks come down in her back yard. My DH has become her tree remover and I am his helper. She's paying him in firewood. LOL We're happy to get it, we use tons of it in the winter months.

My heart goes out to all who have been affected by these storms. Yes, enough, STORMS GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

In another note:
I do want to welcome RobynC and Benji also welcome back Snowflake82. I have added your children to the T-or-T list. That will put us at 56 T-or-T'ers and I think 29 staterooms. We will not be going to any of the Group Leaders staterooms since they won't be there.:teeth: I'll be posting all the details in early Oct.

MemoryMakers2669, to answer your question that you posted earlier. No, you can not go to the very farthest tip of the front of the ship. That area is for the CM's aboard. It's an open lounge area with a small salt water filled swimming pool, not fresh like the rest of the pools aboard.
I know of only 1 time that they opened that area up for cruisers, that was when the ships stack caught on fire.
If you go into the Spas fitness area you can look down onto the ships bridge.
Maybe you should make your next cruise a Disney Cruise:magnify:

Dena and Shari stay safe and Dena call me.

Michelle, :bday: :cake: Sorry I missed it yesterday, I hope you enjoyed your day.

Judi, don't forget you'll get a cake from DCLs. You tell your Head Server what night you would like to have it and your server will bring it to your table after dinner that night. You don't have to eat it then you can take it back to your stateroom to enjoy it later.

O.K. before I go did I get everyone who wants to be on the T-or-T list there? If not give a shout here or PM me with your information.

Remember High Tea on Monday, making your own reservations at Palo for that. Tell the CM you want to be placed with the "DIS" group.

I'll be looking for Lynda Silk, Mdvasquez, LetsgoDisney, Tluvs2talk, RobynC and Benji at the Radisson. Anyone else???

Dan and Scott are you still with us?????????? You've been awfully quite. You can come out now I've got all the group leaders. lol
Also still looking for rocadonismom are you still with us???????? Karen have your heard from her? BTW, how's Emma doing in China? Like I should ask, she's special.

So bye for now,

What Time does everyone want to meet Friday evening? Would you all like to meet by the pool?

Are we still planning on meeting by the basketball court at 4:30
Saturday?

Good morning! I hope everyone here from Florida made it safely through the weekend. My thoughts and prayers are with you - I can only imagine how it feels to have to go through this again. "Hurricane Fatigue" is probably an understatement...

I was also surprised that our doc came so early. About two weeks ago, we got a postcard from our TA saying that our docs were being processed and would be sent 5-10 days before our sailing date. It probably would have worked out fine, but it made us a little bit nervous, especially since we are leaving early on the morning of the 29th. So Chuck called the TA, and they said, no problem, they would just ask DCL to send them to us directly. I think that the TA's request somehow expedited the process, because I didn't think they went out this early even for those who book directly through DCL.

Next tasks: Organizing t-or-t bags (can some of you give me an idea what you are doing for this?) and pirate costumes!

But it's Monday morning, so those will have to wait until after work. Have a good day!

Good Morning All,:wave2:

Jennifer, T-or-T bags you can put anything you want in them, candy, stickers, gum, little toys, pencils,etc... or you could skip the bag thing all together and hand out individual packaged goodies like cookies, fruit roll ups, gummie bears, M&M's etc.

Please, everyone just a little, the kids will get alot of lott going to all the staterooms. What you give is going to come back to you 27 or more times over. Trust me on this.

Teri, Yes, 4:30ish is good Saturday at the railings in front of the courts so we can see whats going on.

Only 1 time frame is offered for High Tea on any Sea day. Last year the time was 3:30-4:30 p.m..

Pirate costumes are for a dining theme night, I think it will be held the day we are at St. Maarten, Tuesday. It use to be Tropical theme night. I'm sure there will be some of us still wearing their tropical wear, me for one. I believe 1 costume per cruise is enough.

So how are we going to recognize each other at the Radisson? The "Dis" Lime Green something, ribbons, buttons, shirts, shoes, Mickey paint samples from Home Depot, you pick I've got them all.

I've got to work tomorrow and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I'll be DH's helper cleaning-up Ivans mess. So I've got to go for now to work-out and clean my own messes up, then off to Wal-Mart. Got to get it all done before 3:50, Ashley gets home from school.

You all have a great day and I'll be back when I can.

Good Morning all:

Quick note as I have to work today for a co-worker that took a long weekend.

I also hope everyone is okay from this next round of storms. I think we have all had enough!!!::yes::

Ginger: It's so nice of you and Bill to help out these other folks. I didn't know you had such bad weather. Hope all is okay with your home.

Waiting for the rain from Jeanne.

Wow 56 T or T'ers.

Teri: You're way ahead of the gme. I'm just getting the kids together. DS 13 just went over all his clothes, DS 15 will be this weekend, DD 11, well I'm not sure.

Gotta go to work,
Michelle

Just going to share what my Mariner group will be doing. Same thing as you, many of us meeting up at the Radisson the night prior. We are all wearing Mardi Gras beads! Also wearing them on Sunday (the day our ship sails), when we board, so we can find the others that aren't staying at the Radisson.

The beads are cheap and easy to take off! eBay is loaded with them.

Also, our group has our pictures set up on yahoogroups.com. We have a private group and everyone posted their pictures, so we know what everyone looks like already! I have done this with all my cruises and it makes it SO easy to find everyone.

Maybe you should make your next cruise a Disney Cruise:magnify:

Thanks for the reply Ginger! Too bad about not being able to go to the front. One of our cruises, we were able to do that and it was just something to experience!

Pools: You are lucky that your pools are fresh water and not salt. I haven't yet gotten that pleasure with the ships I have been on. The salt water isn't a big deal though I guess, just tastes nasty.

Me on a Disney cruise: Not sure that will happen anytime soon. My four year old is terrified of the characters for one thing. Maybe if she gets over that, we might do a Disney one. Can't imagine giving up my must have balcony cabin though! :cloud9:

So if any of you would like to do so, feel free to send your photo (please keep it under 100k file size each) to info@magicaldisney.com along with your user name. Hope Jeanne left everyone unscathed. I haven't heard anything from Emma but then again I wasn't really expecting to as they were asked not to take mobiles with them. They will have done their second concert of the trip today, including a song in Chinese.

I can't believe she has been gone almost a week. It has gone quite fast and I expect she will feel that it has flown by.

No documents here yet but I expect they will take a bit longer to reach us in the UK.

Sorry Shari, no good photos here to post for the whole world to see.

Karen, I've got no docs either, not worring. I've got my confirmation saying I'm paid up. They can make copies of everything else needed from my last 6 cruises with them. Heck, on one cruise I boarded without any photo I.D., left it all home in the back pocket of a pair of shorts. I think I only got away with that because we had cruised with them just 4 month prior.
When will Emma be coming home?

Ginger - I have lime green ribbon. I think the lime green is a good idea.

Ginger,Lynda Silk, Mdvasquez, LetsgoDisney, RobynC and Benji -
I will wear a lime green ribbon on my shirt with a Disney pin. My picture is posted at my signature so everyone knows what I look like. WE are driving to Florida and expect to arrive around 4:30. I think Hubby and I are going to eat at Grill's for Dinner.

We had a lot of wind and rain here today from Jeanne, but were fortunate not to have the inpact that Florida and Georgia had. I am glad we still have 4 weeks 5days till our cruise. I hope that will give the tropics time to calm down. I am sooo ready for a "Konk Kooler on Castaway Cay". Say that 4 times.:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

We still do not have our documents either. Maybe by the end of the week.

Ginger, Emma is due back on Sunday 3rd October, 8am our time. no lie in for me that day as I will be off to pick her up from the airport.

Today they will have been singing at a Festival in China which is being televised to millions - what an experience.

I am so looking forward to having her home again; she may drive me nuts occasionally but the girl is one of my best friends and I love the bones of her. I am just so pleased that she has had such a marvellous opportunity. Sorry, getting maudlin now!:(

Right cheerier matters - does anyone know if Shirley from the Perfect Gift can custom make baskets for you. I would like something in our room for our anniversary (champagne, choccies etc) and wondered whether using Shirley might be better than using the DCL basket.

skoi

All: I emailed DCL and they replied that they do have Halloween themed gift baskets, but you have to call the Special Services Desk. If anyone is interested in the number, email or pm me.

Also, our travel agent said the docs should have arrived by the end of this week, but due to the hurricanes there might be a little delay.

Has anyone ordered a Disney/Halloween themed basket from Shirley before?

Julie

That's okay, Ginger. :p But the offer is still open if anyone here <I>would</I> like their picture on the website.

With this very unusual hurricane season upon us, and no telling whether more will arrive within the final two months of our state's "disaster season," I have decided to rent a car instead of leaving mine at the port for a week. I drove down and parked at the port for my last 9 DCL cruises, but this season is so crazy I'd rather not have my car to worry about.

So I am renting from Avis at the Daytona airport, one way to Canaveral, then one way again at the end of the cruise. This means I will not go to the <I>Stitch's Great Escape</I> annual passholder preview until Sunday, but that's okay.

Is anyone else here renting from Avis? I thought about using Budget, but their office at the airport here doesn't open early enough to suit me.

It's not fair:sad: I was a good girl all week and I even ate my veggies, but we haven't got our doc's yet. I called on Monday but my TA said they haven't come yet. However, she does work from home on Tuesday so maybe when she comes in tomorrow they could be on her desk:goodvibes I told her to call me when they come and in and I'll save her the postage and pick them up! Just being a little selfish, don't want to wait for the mailman to deliver them. Her office is only 15 minutes away but it could take an extra day or two for them to be mailed.

I'll let you guys know when we get ours!!!!

Has anyone heard anything about the hotels in cocco beach? We got 2 rooms at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront through priceline. Hope they are okay. Couldn't beat the deal 2 rooms for $90 total. As long as they are clean and don't smell. I'll keep complaining until I get a nice room.

Judi, have you seen this site? Scroll down until you find HIOceanfront. It has good information on this hotel (as well as others in and around Cocoa). It looks like this hotel will reopen just in time for your cruise. Of course that info could be old, before Jeanne came through.

I wonder what happens to those that have used Priceline, if the hotel is closed.

Ginger: How about you? Heard on the news you had a tornado not too far from your area. How is the clean up going from Sat? Hope all is well.

How about Dena? Do you have power yet? How is your sister and the kids?

Karen: Only a few more days and she'll be back, then not too long and you're all off again!!!::yes::

Judi, I have bad news for you. Not sure what you can do though with it being through Priceline though. Anyway, one of the ladies on my cruise meet thread said she just got an email saying that her reservation has been cancelled. She was booked to be there November 6th, the night before our cruise. So, I can't imagine it will be open for you for your date.

Here is what she said...

Well, I hadn't yet cancelled my reservations at the Cocoa Beach Oceanfront Holiday Inn, but just got an e-mail. The county has closed the hotel, (since September 2), and all reservations are cancelled.

WELCOME

The Holiday Inn Hotel - Cocoa Beach is currently closed due to damage from Hurricane Frances. It is currently due to reopen on 10 October 2004. Check back for updates

So hopefully it all works out. I am going to call priceline and see what I need to do if it looks like they won't be open by then. We could always get a room in Orlando and then drive down on saturday morning I guess.

Good luck with this situation. I hope Priceline can help you out. I don't have any experience with them but have heard that they can be difficult when there is a problem. Hopefully, that won't be true in your case

Sorry Shari about the picture. I am new to sending photos through email. I will be getting a family one taken this weekend so you can post us and remove tj if you want to. I just don't have any photos of me on my computer. Lots of the boys and my other babies(cats and dogs) I did send you another smaller picture of tj but you can just delete that one.

I did call Priceline, somewhat helpful. I have to wait till the last week in oct. and call them if the Holiday Inn is still closed. They said to wait till the day before our reservations, but I told them I wasn't going to wait and then not have a room. The lady wasn't sure what they would do since I wasn't changing my mind, Hurrican Jeane is to blame. I'll keep you guys informed. I told them that I would be happy to take another hotel even in orlando for the same price.

Only one more day to sign up for T and T. Ginger if I get a chance in the next day or two I might give you a call, so answer if you see it's from West Virginia!

I understand that not everyone is aware of their file sizes. I just hope everyone will be patient with the handicap I have in being on a dial-up connection.

But everyone, please <I>do</I> send a photo of yourself or your family. If you do not know how to send it but it is out on the Web somewhere, send me the link to it and I may be able to retrieve it to post. Thanks.

Teri, green ribbons are good for me too. We will be picking my DH, Bill, up at the Grill at 5, his fishing excursion leaves from there. Maybe we'll see you there.

Ashley and I are thinking about an airboat ride through the everglades and a little shopping at Ron Jon's on Friday morning.

Jennifer, have your cruise docs completed and your photo I.D. available when you arrive at the port. You'll have to show them to get into the loading and unloading area and the parking lots.

I don't have to work today or tomorrow so I've left notice for my mailman to call me if my Docs arrive. I told him that I would pick them up.

Just wanted to fill you all in about Priceline. I called Holiday Inn Oceanfront. they said they will be closed till Nov1, then had to call a central Holiday Inn resevation center. They said the hotel will be closed till Mid november. Web site says oct. 10. Talk about no comunication. So they said to call priceline, that they were canceling all reservations.

So I then called priceline, they said that there is a seperate dept called Travel Services that will contact me in 3 business days. I went ahead and made a reservation for Quality Suits Maingate in Orlando and will just drive down Saturday. I paid priceline 95.00 for 2 rooms, and just booked a 2bdroom suit for 109.00. Need to see if I can get it at AAA rate. Hopefully I will get my money refunded. Guess we will just spend the afternoon at Downtown Disney, no big deal. Just do my shopping there and leave around 8:30 am. We are early risers anyhow.

If priceline can get me two rooms for the same price in cocoa beach then we will just cancel the other room. But at least we got a back up just in case.

If anyone got their rooms through priceline, don't wait like they want you too. Get it done now!!! Some of the hotels got hit hard and they are aware of it. I was told by Holiday Inn that priceline is waving the fee for cancellations. Hope so. I'll let everyone know.

Hi everybody! :wave2: Sorry I haven't been around for awhile, but had the other cruise going on. It was a good time.

Teri - yes, Coral World is right next to Coki Beach (on the right hand side). We spent the day at Coki two weeks ago on our Carnival Cruise. The water was great and the snorkeling, again on the right hand side, was really good. The sun was very hot though, so don't forget the sunscreen everybody.

Hope Dena is okay.

Sounds like I'll have to give AAA a call and see if Tonya has our docs.

Well, I'm going to go back a couple dozen pages and get caught up on everything. Less then 30, I can't wait. pirate:

We had the same problem with our hotel. We booked at Ron Jons and when I read about the water problem and they couldn't guarantee I'd have a room I had to find a backup plan. I had just given up my reservation at the Raddison for a 2 king bed suite at $129.00 and considered myself very lucky to get a 1 bed suite with a roll away for $199. Last I checked they are now sold out as are the other hotels I called that day.

Also, the beach next to Coral World is wonderful. If you can bring a mask and snorkle. You'll see more fish on the shoreline than you'll see in Coral World.

Four more weeks! Doesn't seem possible, where did the year go?

Thank you Ginger for the suggestion, however we decided to just go to Orlando for the night. We are going to stay at the Quality Suites Maingate. It's not the fanciest but we have stayed there in the past. We got a 2 bedroom(one king, 2 queens and a fold out(not that we need that)) for $109.00/night. Not too bad.

I did get an email this evening saying that I will be getting a full refund in 10-15 days. Said this was a one time deal, only because of the Hurricane. Like I told the hurricanes to come and wipe out my hotel::yes:: .

So now we are going to go to the hotel, and while the dh and the boys relax by the pool, I am going to run to the store and get the soda and wine and any last minute gifts for TJ. I am going to send the stuff down to Shirley and ask if she can pick up a small cake. She said she could but I know that she if awfully busy right now. So I might just go ahead and order the Birthday celebration from Disney and place the cake in the fridge. They said this is the same size one you get at dinner when you let them know. Is this true? I really would like to surprise tj with the decorations though. Thought about the holloween one but I am going to bring my own. Alot cheaper at the dollar store and Big Lots then what Disney wants for a centerpiece, banner, and hanging thing.

Alan was snooping around in my bags yesterday and found some some stuff. So now he knows that there is going to be a present on board for him. Haven't told TJ yet!!!! Hopefully we can keep it a surprise.

Won't get docs until Monday if they are in because my TA is off today and tomorrow for the Buckwheat Festival(don't even ask)

Hope and pray they will be here soon!!!

Have a great night.

Hi everyone:

You guys are making me stress! I'm sooo jealous you got your docs. Still wailing for mine. I think I'll call Friday morning.

Hey, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can get water, beer and a couple of bottles of wine around the airport and bring them on board I'd love to hear about it. We fly in on Sat. morning and DH and I would love to bring a little extra for lounging on the Vernadah.

Ginger: Have you heard from Dena? Thinking of her and the kids. ::yes::

Sorry for all of you that are looking for a hotel room now. Just when you think things are under control, but it seems you have gotten a handle on it. Great Job.

I've got to hit the sack. LONG week!!!::yes::

WOW! I can’t believe that we are almost only 4 weeks away. I also can’t believe that some of you got your doc.’s already. Congratulations to all!

Another WOW is the number of children signed up for the T or T. When we went two year ago, I think there were 23 children who participated in the stateroom to stateroom festivities. I order treats awhile ago, and at that time I ordered for 48 children, thinking that would be plenty. Guess I’ll be running out to get a few more items!

taswira – Thanks so much for the link to your website, I have visited it a few times. You did a great job. I’m a shy one, so you will not be getting a picture from me. I will admit I have looked at other people pictures, and maybe I’ll get up the nerve to say “HI” to any DIS’ers I recognize if I run into you on the cruise.

Scott you've hit the 100 posting mark, :cheer2:

No, I haven't heard a word from Dena. Like Shari said in an earlier post, she may not have electric yet. If she doesn't call me or post here by Saturday evening I'm going to try calling her.

Coki Beach is very nice but small, we loved Coral World. Look for coupons aboard the ship also, they usually have booklets about the islands at guest services. Also, you may want to go to the Shore Excursion Presentation given on Saturday, usually given before the mandatory boat drill which is at 4:00pm. Check your Welcome Aboard Daily Navigator for the time.

Judi, I'm glad you got your hotel arrangements straight. Your right about the dollar store decor being cheaper, we got a cute banner for a buck. Centerpieces can be a pain in the butt thou, your so limited on table top space in the staterooms, we found that it got in the way ending up in the trash.
Judi the travel agency I worked for would let another agent deliver the docs if I was not available. I would have to go in to the office to finish the paper to get paid.

I think my Postmaster is hiding my docs, he doesn't want me to go away for 2 weeks. He thinks I'm not coming back, lol I've been training my replacement. He's crazy cause when I get back I'm getting a raise in pay and mileage. HA! HA!

Don't forget to pack tape, I like double sided tape to hang the schedules and appointments reminders on the outside of the closet doors or the inside of your stateroom door.

Sweetspot, when did you book the 2 king bed at the Radisson for $129 and nt. I'll have to give them a call. So now you have a 1 bedroom w/rollaway at the Radisson for $199. a nt, gheez! Maybe I'll rethink that call and be happy with what I've got.

Bring canned beer and small bottles of wine if you can when flying, wrap them in bubble wrap, place them in 1- 2 gallon size zipbaggie, close that one then place it in another seal that one then pack your t-shirts, undies, socks, anything soft but bulky on all sides of the item. Then hope and pray that they don't get stolen out of your luggage.
The drink station on deck 9 has crushed ice and good tasting water, bring a bottle to fill instead of hauling bottled water.

LAST CALL FOR T-or-T'ers. Just 1 hour left to sign up.

I'll check back in the morning to finalize the list.

Good night all:wave:

Thanks Teri, we have a 2 king suite with the whirlpool, I booked it months ago, even got to select my suite 209. We're paying $159 per nt. if I don't get a gov't discount. After all the damage to the area we are lucky to get it.

Well folks we have 2 more children to add to the list. I checked my email at 11:54 and sure enough sweet Trish was knocking on my door shouting Trick-or-Treat.

4weeks from right now, we'll be on the plane headed for Orlando!

Judi, I'm glad that priceline is going to refund you.

Thanks to all for discount info on Coral World and good things about the beach nearby. I had read some other threads a while back that were pretty negative about Coral World, but we still thought that it was something that our family would like to do. We want to keep our excursions pretty low-key.

Ginger: I booked the Radisson originally in Nov. 2003 and the $129 was the AAA rate they were offering at the time. When I tried to rebook the rates had gone up and they had no AAA rates available. We are a family of 5 and when doing searches and talking on the phone to a rep I was told that they were sold out. I did a search this morning for a smaller family and they did have some rooms available.

I'm still hoping we get to stay at Ron Jons. I spoke with them this week and it sounded possible. I had the 2 bedroom condo there for $160 giving us room to spread out and get a good night sleep after such a long drive.

How are the docs coming to everyone? USPS or UPS?

"Ginger"
10-01-2004, 08:14 AM
It depends on who you booked with. DCL sends them USPS. If your TA doesn't ask Disney to send them directly to you then they go to them. Who knows who they use.

Last year we paid $109 for the 2 bed king suite.

Saw the docs when I woke up today and was I ever excited! My DH had to work late last night, so I guess he brought them into the bedroom when I was sleeping!

For those folks staying at the Radisson, did we come up with a time to meet on Friday night? I know it's by the pool and to wear something "dis-y' or lime green but I wasn't sure about the time.

We're having a DIS meet in Toronto tomorrow! Not too many people are coming because quite a few are in WDW! But it should be fun anyway and it'll be a great kickoff to my Disney vacation!

Hope Dena and her family are safe and sound!

Karen, only 2 days to go before you see Emma! How exciting!

I just received the light up bracelets I ordered from Ebay for my trick or treat bags. I thought the kids would have a fun time with those and then they can be thrown away when the light runs out.

Will I be a total party pooper if I don't have a costume?!! Will an orange t-shirt and black sandals be spooky enough for an adult costume??? ;)

Our group would love to meet at the Radison on Friday night. Is 4:30 still the time around the pool?

One more item, we will be traveling with our 2 year old and I just wanted to know if the little tike babysitting really does close during the mid afternoon even on excursion days? Is there any hope for a day of freedom?

Hey everyone, I am back!!!

We made it through another hurricane. This one was pretty bad. They say our county got hit the hardest. Fortunately our house came out with NO damage!!!!:teeth: But unfortunately, some of our neighbors did not do so well. My MIL who lives in a mobile home had quite a bit of damage. Gov. Bush was visiting her mobile park today and Laura Bush was in our mall parking lot this morning. We just got power back yesterday.

We rode out the storm at my youngest sisters house. Let me tell you, from 12 am to 5 am it was so darn scary!!!!:scared1: Then the day after the storm passed, we decided to call disney and see if we could get ressies for a few days, since we had no power. So we went to stay at SS on Tuesday and came home today. We wound up buying passes and took Emily to the parks for the first time. We took lots of pictures of her with the characters. She had a blast. It was a great break from the reality of the storm damage back here.

Anyway, sorry I didn't call you ginger, I left your number on my computer and once I lost power, I couldn't retrieve it.:o

I hope we get our Docs soon. Although with the mail service being very delayed around here, who knows when we will get anything.

Shari, I will send you a picture as soon as I get things organized around here.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Dena, good to see you back, and great to hear everything is ok.

On the tea with Wendy... we went on the 4 day Wonder and my DD that was 4 at the time, loved the Tea with Wendy that was part of the kids club. I know it is probably different then this one, but she still talks about how you are sopose to clean your mouth with the tip of the napkin, and hold your pinky our when you drink tea.

Yeah, we got our docs!! I was watching for the mail and could tell she didn't put them in the box. Went out to check and they were on the doorstep. They must have been delivered by UPS. They had one of my son's names wrong on the docs and when I called they said they would change it in the system and to not worry about the docs as long as the passport matched the computer. Does this sound right?

Spoke with Debbie at DCL today and she said that they still hadn't made a decision on whether to move formal night or not. She was wonderful and made me really looking forward to Halloween on the ship as well as the new Pirates night.

It is nice that they are offering new gifts to purchase. I love the Mickey pearl necklace. I don't normally like pearls and really have nowhere to wear them but anything mickey gets me these days.

Also, went to the Disney store the other day and they are reducing all of their Halloween merchandise. Have to add that store to one my dangerous to go in and shop stores. It's hard to resist some of their things especially when they're on clearance.

Hope everyone gets their docs today.

I am surprised they said they would just change the name in their system. When they once sent me my docs with my name misspelled, I called and my name <I>was</I> correct in their computer system, but had been printed incorrectly on the docs. They told me to destroy those docs and they would send new ones immediately. They stressed to me that it <I>had</I> to be correct, matching my passport, or I would be denied boarding. And this was after I had cruised DCL several times. It seems there is not much consistency in how things "must" be. I guess it depends on to whom you speak. I'd say to get the name of the rep who tells you it's okay, then don't worry about it I guess.

RobynC, I'm not sure what you look like but I'm sure that if you wear just an orange T-shirt and black sandals no one will think that you are a party pooper or spooky. I'm also sure that you may find that you are getting alot of attention. :chat: :earboy2:

Dena, I so glad you back:teeth: and once again your home was not damaged.

Karen I know your glad Emma is coming home. I guess I'll be completely lost when Ashley gets old enough to go places without me.

We also had a misspelled name-- our son too-- on our documents. I called our travel agent, and she called DCL. She told me they said "not to worry about it" they would change it in their system, the documents were fine. She didn't sound (to me) too happy with that reply and she told me she insisted DCL send her and me a letter confirming it was okay that the name on the paperwork didn't match the name on his passport. I then called DCL myself and they told me, "We have his name right in our system, don't worry about it.

So of course I'm worried. He's only six, but you never know when someone is going to make a big deal out of messed up paperwork, especially with the heightened security.
