I'm FINALLY back from 7 INCREDIBLE days at Universal and Disney!

Spent my first two days at Hard Rock... LOVED IT!

Spent my last five days at the Dolphin... LOVED IT!

I met the man, Mr. Barry Hom, what a NICE GUY! My son just loved him. He described him as a "grown up kid"...

Truer words were NEVER spoken! :bounce:

I had my FIRST ride on Dueling Dragons and Hulk... yes, FIRST! I promised my son that I would NOT get on till he was tall enough and lo and behold, he was FINALLY 54" !! Remember, he's only 8! One line, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE HULK!! :earseek:

FOTL is the BOMB! There is nothing, absolutely NOTHING like being able to surpass lines like they didn't exist! People kept asking me who we were and how'd we get that plastic card. It's AMAZING how few people knew about it... what'sUPwiTHAT????

I just got in about an hour ago, I've got aLOT of unpacking to do so I've got to go. Just had to say hello!

Welcome Home!

FOTL is good! Glad you really enjoyed it!

Barry, a grown up kid! That is funny!

Any tips for us soon-to-be-fellow-FOTLers? Is it always pretty obvious where to go for each ride, or are there some that are stranger than others (like going in the exit and swimming upstream)?

Sorry I missed you. I'll be there in a bit over two weeks.

Kelly, when are you there? I'd love to meet you and have you autograph my book!

Robinrs

I want an autograph too but it's so dogeared and I dropped it the tub while reading it at the HRH, you probably would NOT recognize it!!

Wow, how awesome would it be to tour the parks with kelly! Almost as awesome as it was with Barry!!

PDG! You KNOW I saw and attacked our boyfriend. Got pictures of the attack, too! Woooooohooooooooo! :p You're going to remind me about the rooms though...

DD, or I thought it was IOA Debbie... :D
I had my mind on your trip report the whole time. Especially reminding myself NOT to eat before IOA!

Cindy, you DO have a tall one! My son was 48" at 6, boy do I remember that, so your son has a big chance of making it on the Hulk before 8. The remarkable thing about my son's height is that I'm only a few inches taller than him! I'm 59" tall! He should be eating off my head in a few years...

Disney Darwin: I was so lucky, I had a lady at Hanna Barbera explain it to me on my first ride at the park. She explained that all I had to do is go up the Express line and that's all we did. I would flash my card and it was like Carte Blanche, there you go. It was like GOLD!!

Robin,

Did you get to look at the kids suites at HRH? That is where we will be staying and wanted to know if they were much different than PBH.

I am really happy to hear what a wonderful time you had! That, my dear, is what it is all about!:D

BTW, I am really upset to hear about YOU and HIM! These long-distance romances are so difficult on me! LOL. Just so you know, he really doesn't care about you - you are just something to keep busy with till I get there! LOL

Aloha and welcome back Robin,
I look forward to your trip report. :)
We stayed at Swan and HRH when we went in March. We seem to choose alike.

Did you get your picture taken on the rides so we will all be able to share them? ;)

Sorry we couldn't have a cybermeet. Just have to have a for real meet someday.:bounce:

Hi, Donna!

Funny you should ask about the pictures. I'm sitting here laughing at the ones we got from the Hulk and MIB, and one from the Port of Entry showing off my Spiderman shirt!

Needless to say I did not ride with Barry because I knew he'd beat my socks off in MIB. I won in my group, MUCH to RhondaS' chagrin, ONLY because I got the 100,000 bonus with the red button. Otherwise she and Dan Murphy would have CREAMED me!

Pixie Dust Gal... I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to check out the kid's suites, though I know they're awesome because the whole hotel is! I loved their decor, in fact my master bath has the exact same shelf and fixtures! I felt so "at home"...

Oh, and BTW, I whispered in Spidey's ear that you were coming and to treat you nice despite his obvious LOVE for me... ;)

Yeah, right, whatever..........................!:D

What did ds think of the trip? Did he most enjoy the first half at disney or the last half at HRH? Don't dare be PC with me either! LOL

I remember the mall on Kings Hwy too! Gosh, I remember when it was built, we would drive into Brooklyn rather than go out to the Island. Flatbush Ave - that brings back memories......... I was a "disco queen" back then (hanging my head in shame).

Thanks for asking about Michael's opinion, pdg... and I promise NOT to be PC... ;)

Michael wasn't crazy about the decor of the HRH, it's very adult and muted, MY STYLE, not a kid's style. He likes LOTS of color, like the All Stars, which made ME sick! :p

As for the PARKS, NOTHING beat FOTL!! At Disney, the high point was the hotel, not the parks. We had to be subjected to crowds, lines and FastPass, which is a BIG letdown from FOTL, so we spent very limited time at the parks. I couldn't get enough of IOA and Universal though! In fact, I announced at a DIS meet that this MAY just be my LAST trip to Disney, so FLAME me! As long as USF offers this perk, even if it's for one ride, one time, it's the best perk ever.

You think I have an opinion???

PDG, don't be embarrassed about being a former Disco Queen... I used to dress like the girl from Flash Dance and was PROUD of it :smooth: .. anyone who knew me from Brooklyn would faint to see me on a Disney board  ... but HEY, we ALL grow up!

Hi Robin!
Glad to hear it was a wonderful adventure for you & Michael!
I'm sure your 7 days flew by much too fast, but isn't that the price you pay for having too much fun?
Thanks for sharing your memories of it all here. Look forward to reading even more also!

Robin,

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! I remember cutting off the arms on sweatshirts and ripping the top so it would hang off one shoulder - then the stores started carrying that "flashdance look". Do you remember the "candie" shoes - they were real high and slipped on? That was "my" signature outfit! I had them in every color! LOL LOL LOL:earseek:

I remember last year both boys didn't want to return to Disney this year - they just wanted to spend all 13 days at Universal. I felt it would be a little much and they would get bored! So we are splitting our stay again! I just love the PBH and am a little leary of our stay at HRH. Knowing me I will compare them way to much!

Where did you both eat and what did your order?

I am so glad that you are had a wonderful time and had the change to meet up with "the gang".

We leave in 22 days!

Robin glad you had a great trip. Your comments have put my mind at ease. We are spending a week at HRH in July and I was worried we might be staying too long, but what you have said makes me feel better.

Hi Robin, It was great to read your post. We are planning an August trip staying at HRH and the Dolphin. I have been a little nervous about the Dolphin. My DH and myself usually stay at the YC/BC but we are bring our niece and a friend as a graduation gift and have booked a Jr suite at the Dolphin. We thought we would need the extra room with two teenage girls and myself. I think DH just wants a place to hide from us girls--LOL! I'm really looking forward to this trip. Last time to spend fun time with niece before she is off to college. They grow up so fast!!

Robin, what sort of room did you stay in at HRH and the Dolphin? Some have said the concierge rooms at HRH are lacking (the food service anyway) - I was disappointed to hear that since I'd love to stay at HRH in a concierge room so close to the parks but Maybe it's better to get a standard room and save that money!
Your opinion?
I'm so glad you and your son had a wonderful time - welcome back to Atlanta! (It's been raining a lot and I know you don't miss the TRAFFIC!!)
