My weight is currently in the average range, but I would like to lose around 10 pounds. Has anyone tried Atkins for a relatively small amount of loss? My concern is that once I lost the weight it might come back when I return to my regular eating habits.

Hi Tigerbear. It has been to my knowlwdge that you will lose that extra ten pounds you want to on atkins. But keep in mindthat atkins is not a DIET. That is just another four letter word. Atkins is a life style change to help you lose weight and stay healthy.

Dropping that last ten pounds on anyone is hard and low carb high protein will do it. But if you do not maintain a low carb or even moderate carb intake you WILL gain it back. Just from my own experiences.

Good luck on your short journey.

I definately agree that unless a person views any weight loss program as a way of life, will probably gain back the weight. If you go back to eating the way you did before you lost the weight you will gain. Once you get to your goal weight though, you are afforded more flexibility with all Way of life programs.

Last year on Weight Watchers I lost 37 pounds. I went from 186 to 149 from Jan-May. Then I somehow fell off the wagon and didn't recover. I gained nearly all of it back and was 178.4 when I started back on 6/2/03.

I now realize that while I won't be eating as low of points as I am now to loose weight, I will still need to stay accountable and watch what I eat forever. I just add some points back in and monitor my weight until I start gaining. I must find the right number that keeps me maintained at the weight I want.

Good luck,
Melanie
