watshakinranch,
My son is 3. My son has never been to daycare so I am hoping he will want to stay some in the clubs. He is wanting to play with the other kids so he may stay.
He is a little wild too.

I am going to start tommorrow. I have done almost all the shopping so it is time to pack. Can not believe it is so close. We will be leaving home in a week.

HI ALL,

Still working on the packing, but some wedding details have started to get in the way. Had to make out seating cards and meet with some vendors. Hopefully I get in touch with the photographer tomorrow, haven't in a while.

ok. I'll try to stop by on Friday before my BIG day. We can't wait to go on vacation. :)

Whatsshakinranch, my 3 year old DD will be on board. She is head over heals about any Disney Princess. She is a little shy at first but after a few minutes really warms up. From what I have seen and read the kids clubs look like they will really enjoy them. If she wants to stay and have some fun fine, I have already accepted the fact that she may not and I will have a shadow -that's great too! If Snow White shows up I will become 2nd fiddle! Either way we will have a great time. Mom will be propped up under an Umbrella while we are in the sun, pool, ocean, etc. Opposite really do attract!

YAY!!! Only 8 more days till we fly out!! (hmmm.. think something is wrong with my counter!)

Is anyone staying (or has anyone stayed) at the Hilton in Cocoa Beach?? We'd like to know more info about the area (eating, etc).

Pam: Congrats and good luck!

It looks like a lot of 'fur' has been flying on these boards lately...what gives??

Has everyone filled out their docs yet??
And... does anyone know if you can use the pools at Atlantis if you buy lunch there??

My goal is to be completely packed by this Sunday....hmmmm... think it's possible??!:p

Bye for now!

PamCo88 - Best Wishes. Hope everything goes smooooothly on your wedding day. Relax and have a good time.

Carrie - I've been noticing the fur lately too - Michelle and Cathy leaving. Rae not posting. I used to enjoy the "conversations" between Verandah Man, Rae and BD. The tone of the board has changed.

And no, I haven't filled out my documents yet. Maybe this weekend. We're leaving next Friday - so I am getting very excited. We're spending our first day at EPCOT then leaving on Sunday for the Wonder.

Now if I could just get all this work off my desk!! I have a meeting in 10 mins - so I better get back to it!

Just a week away from vacation.

Left work early and went to Bealls, hit the clearance racks. Got a couple pair of shorts, capri pants.

I am now taking a break from "pre-packing" (you know, when you turn your bedroom up-side-down, trying on every piece of clothing you own, looking for that perfect wardrobe!)

I think DH has finally decided on itinerary before boarding ship. We are leaving Thursday afternoon to go to Orlando. FRI we are going to Animal Kingdom, SAT- making our way to Cocoa Beach and finding an Air Boat Ride then spending rest of day at the beach.

Good Luck PamCo!! Tomorrow's the big day. Take a Polaroid picture of the wedding for all of us to see!!

Is anyone going to the mad rush for Palo or spa reservations? I don't think we are doing any of that. This is our first cruise and I would hate to be called out of Palo's because DS's did not want to stay in club.

Hope to see everyone next week!!

Pink eye is gone! Yippee! Now for the rest of us to stay healthy.

We're leaving Friday after DH gets off work. He prefers to drive all night so that the kids are asleep and not whining and I'm asleep and not reminding him of the speed limit. We'll arrive Saturday and spending the day at Cocoa Beach. We have a room at the Radisson.

I haven't started packing, but I have made my lists. We're going to have a limited wardrobe this week because I don't want to be doing laundry at the last minute.

Got the lanyards at Wal Mart. Thanks for the tip! I got some for my kids too. DD3 will be happy to meet the other 3 year olds on the trip.

I woke up this morning thinking of you all. Had one of those strange panic dreams where I'm not ready, I'm not packed, I'm racing to the terminal, I don't know if I have my docs.... Thank goodness it's only a dream, but I've been having a lot of those panic-I'm-not-ready-for-this dreams... think it must be the baby!:earseek:

Going shopping today and getting my green Mickey's and stuff to decorate the door with. Took Friday off of work so that I can finish shopping for clothes (without DH fretting about money) and start packing. Not to make you all panic, but I'm so glad I don't have to drive or fly to get here... would just be cause for panic more. Hope you all arrive safely and have a wonderful time in Orlando/Cocoa before we depart. Good luck to PamCo today, we'll be thinking about you.

Carrie: please let us know if you meet your Sunday packing goal. I would set my goal to Sunday also, but I would be setting myself up for failure!!

Hunny: I think we have all had a dream (nightmare!) about the cruise. Can't blame it on the papoose!! It's just that we are all neurotic about planning!!

Partridge: what deck are you on? I like to take early a.m. walks when everything is quiet and will be looking for door decorations. We also like to drive at night for the same reasons. Years ago we put the kids in the back of the truck with a camper shell and a mattress. Didn't hear 'em fighting!! They were not too badly traumatized!! hee hee!

Jennifer/Traci: are you flying to Orlando? Jennifer: If you are driving, I have much sympathy for you! I also have the "extended family" DS19, DD18, DS6 and DS3. Trying to entertain them all is a chore.

Hi all,
I'm back...wouldn't you know it, a week and a half before vacation the computer decided to crash. O well excuse to buy a new one.

Whatshakin: I have a DD3 too so there will be a couple of DD3s to terrorize your little one. Luckily we are not driving...DH travels ALOT for work so we have enough Frequent Flyer miles to get us to FL and back every year, Yep 4 kids who range from 14 to 3 can be challenging (I don't have any idea WHAT we were thinking) We usually do amusement parks because everyone likes them. At our house this cruise is referred to as the"Mom is turning 40 and is having a midlife crisis cruise".

Anyone else want to share their excursions...i'll compile a list and post it later this afternoon. - Got to go to soccer now.

watshakinranch:

Here's a list of my favorite AK attractions...

A Must Do- Kilimanjaroo Sufari's. Do it first thing the morning and just before close. Last time we went, we did it before closing, with a slight rain and we got to see a baby hippo and all the giraffe's waiting to be led back to their cage. Most everyone has ridden by this time, so sometimes the drivers take their time.

It's Tough to be a Bug- I love the 4-d type attractions and the queue line winds under the tree, very cool.

Primevil Whril- A fun "mousetrap" type roller coaster. My DH, who doesn't like normal coasters, gets a kick out of this one.

Festival of the Lion King is also a good show.

Have fun!!

We are also leaving on the Oct. 5th cruise. We are a cat.4(fam. of 5) This is our first cruise. DH, DD10, DS7, DD6 and myself. We fly out at 6:50 a.m. I am very nervous about getting to the ship. I will be one happy person once we are finally there!!

A near disaster almost stopped our vacation. DH was driving to work this evening and two girls on a go-cart pulled out in front of him. He locked up the brakes and swerved. The go-cart hit his back tire!! They only had scratches, but DH was so shook up he didn't go to work. He's a trauma nurse and it just hit too close to home...

So kiss your kids and tell them you love them. DH is sleeping with his boys right now....

On a lighter note: Thanks Hunny for the info, very helpful.

Welcome Keithmil!! What part of Ohio? DH is from Tiffin.
Get your green mickeys from Home Depot paint department, lanyard from Wal-mart and get in line early!! Do you have any excursions planned?

Jennifer: How's this for not calculating before conception: my two oldest both graduated in May and DS6 started Kindergarten in August. I will have children in school for over 25 years!!

Carrie: are you going to make it? I have to find more suitcases!

I guess the last second stuff will have to wait till Wednesday night but at least everyones clothes, etc. are packed and ready to go!!:)
I think this is the first time I have ever packed this much in advance (even for my honeymoon!). Which reminds me, I hope Pam's wedding went well!
Watshakin: hope you find more suitcases soon!
Unbelievable how much stuff you have to pack for a baby and 4 yr old for 14 days! Sheesh!

This time next week we will all be lulled to sleep by the motion of the Wonder!!! YAY!!

Tracie: have you decided who to send in your absentee ballot for yet?? I gotta get mine in the mail.

Oh boy, do I feel behind the curve! I've had my family visiting from Pennsylvania this weekend. They head back to PA today. We had a wonderful visit, but, today will be marathon day. After they leave, I need to get the place ship shape :D and continue packing. I've put aside a bunch of clothes for the trip, but need to get the suitcases out. I bought some garment bags at walmart for our evening stuff. My stuff is still in that rubbermaid container in the corner of my bedroom, waiting to be organized and packed.
I hope Pam's wedding was everything she dreamed of.
I can't believe we are just DAYS from leaving. We head out on Friday. We're driving down to Florida and staying with friends still Sunday.
The fall weather is setting in here. Its 47 degrees this morning. It'll be nice to squeeze out a few more summer days on this trip.
I know we (the Dis'ers) are all traveling different days this week. I hope everyone has a safe trip and start looking for lime green mickey heads at Port Canaveral!
All the best!

Partridge,

Thank you so much for the movie listings!! I'm excited to see some of those movies (again) and glad to know they will be on the ship. Does anyone know how late they show the movies, or what the movie times typically are?

Partridge4ever
09-29-2003, 07:51 AM
According to the Navigators I printed, the last showing starts around 10:30. There didn't seem to be any set pattern to the times. I'm sure Chicago and the other more adult movies will be shown at night, w/Piglet, etc., being shown earlier.

Like Laura, I've got to spend the day cleaing. Gee, I thought I always packed early. This is the week we all will look funny when we go out because all our good clothes are packed. :smooth:

Hi all,
Posted everyones excursions to my original post on page 17. If you want to be added to the list...just let me know and I will update it.

Spent all weekend at DD12 soccer tournament. It was 105 here this past weekend (HOT). Told my DH that if I closed my eyes maybe I would think I was on a carribean beach (NOT)

Since I know several of you all are leaving within the next few days, I will take this opportunity to let everyone know how much I have enjoyed talking to you all the last few months and I look forward to meeting you onboard or in the terminal!

We don't leave until Sat morning so will be around for a little while yet. (I have a whole lot left to do)

Have a great day,

Hi Jennifer:

Its been around 100 where I live too. I'm actually ready for a little humidity, tropical breezes, a Bahama Mama in hand. Oh well, until that time, I'm still trying to get WORK done.

We're flying out Friday. Saturday we'll be at EPCOT (I hope).

Have NOT started packing. I'm taking off Thursday to do that. BUT, did get my lanyard, underwater cameras ($7.50 at Walmart), lots of film, etc.

Hope to see everyone on board!!!

watshakinranch
09-30-2003, 07:33 AM
Carrie: You made your deadline!! I didn't need those extra suitcases after all. Tried to consolidate my shoes (didn't work very well!!) I think I took out only one pair. (DH does not understand the need for perfectly matching shoes!!) Also, DH finally decided to get in the spirit of packing and with his Navy seabag experience, he can pretty much pack an elephant in his pocket!! :D

I've got all the clothes, snorkel gear, bottled water and Diet Cokes (necessity!) packed. All I have left is the last minute stuff. Packed each of my boys a backpack with coloring book, crayons and small toys for entertainment. They enjoyed picking out the toys they wanted.

DS6 wardrobe is VERY slim. (do you think the teacher will notice he's wearing the same shorts!!) His wardrobe was getting slim anyway prior to packing because the clothes I bought him to start Kindergarten are already snug. Trying to make his summer clothes last til winter.

I'm in the panhandle of Florida and it was 52 degrees when I woke up this morning. Two more days and I'm out of here!!

I posted a main post about this as well, just wondering if any of you have done the Pirates of Nassau museum and what you thought. we're just looking to wander around the island on foot and that is one of the "attractions" that are close to the pier.

on another note... i so need to start packing and finish shopping. I'm getting so fat i need new clothes!

Haven't done the Pirates - but its on my maybe list. We're just wandering arround Nassau also. I would like to check out Atlantis, but not yet sure about spending $70?? to see the Dig. Pirates are $12.00 per adult, kids under 12 are free, but still expensive.

Don't talk about fat - I've put on about 10 pounds every year for about the past 7 years.

One more day of work!!!

Please tell me everyone else packed as much as I did. We're a family of five and I really tried to condense everything and I've spent all day packing. I looked around my bedroom and i have 2 large suitcases, 2 medium, 2 garment bags, 2 carry-ons, and 2 camera bags, not to mention last minute stuff...ugh. I think my family will tie me to the roof rack of my minivan, since we'll all be crammed in like sardines. I planned for 4 somewhat dressy nights and 5 short sets per person. Plus, I need to remember that we need clothes for 2 days prior to and after the cruise. Looks like I need to pack laundry detergent:o

Laura - there are only 3 of us - and that's what I take for a long weekend. lol

Its amazing but you almost seem to need the same amount of stuff for a short weekend as a long weekend. Think of everything you use everyday.

Also, besides the summer stuff, need to bring a jacket or sweater for the evening. Costume for MNSSHP. "Dress" clothes for dinner. Good shoes for walking around. Snorkel gear. Cameras. Film. Husband wants to bring laptop for games, movie viewing on plane as well as downloading digital pictures.

Oh vey.

Laurarn
09-30-2003, 07:43 PM
Tracie: Lol...My husband saw your idea about the laptop for his digital camera. He says.."oh, I thought about that too." We also have a few bottles of wine to pack. And the list goes on....Back to the suitcases.

Hi Laura:

We're going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom on the 10th - after the cruise. My daughter is Mulan (we got this last month before she went to the Princess Teaparty at Disney's El Capitan Theatre) and I'm Malificient (Sleeping Beauty witch - not sure of the spelling). DH hasn't got anything yet. And we're bring a few bottles of wine also. My dad gave us a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne a few years ago - thought this would be a good time to break it out. Maybe at Palo? Of course, there is that corkage fee.

Good luck on the drive! Now hope my plane doesn't fall out of the sky. Wish I could drive.

Hi everyone, (ok at least everyone who is still at home working)

Just checked the long range weather forecast for Bahamas...everything is looking good. Mon - Wed they are showing "scattered showers" high about 87, I hope that means typical tropical showers that pass quickly. No Hurricanes or Tropical Storms are threatening the area. Check out the DIS new smilies...so cute!

I'm here but I am obviously not working hard!!! Drove home and arrived about 4pm. First thing I did was dropped the boys at my mothers and blamed her for their horrid, spoiled behavior on the ship!!! hee hee

If anyone was on the 7th deck forward, port side, I apologized for the WWF sounds coming from the hallway WED night. My husband gave the boys (3 & 5) their room cards and told them who ever got to the room first could open the door (they had been fighting the WHOLE cruise over this and the elevator buttons!!) Of course DS5 got to the door first and when DS3 caught up, he started screaming, pushing and shoving. Turned into the WWF before I could run down the hall (sideways!! felt the boat rocking really well!)

Had a good time. Thinking about the 7 day western next year, but I REFUSE to go without a nanny!! (nieces are already fighting for that position) DS5 went to the club and enjoyed but didn't want to stay alot. He is a Daddy's boy and wanted to swim in the pool the whole time. DS3 stayed 15 minute MON afternoon. Cried the whole time in the computer lab. DH watched him through the windows and during the entire 15 minutes no one said anything to him or even touched him. Very disappointed in that. So we rented the stroller and took him into Nassau with us, which wasn't bad. DH and I just never got any time alone.

If anyone heard a little boy saying "My legs are broken. I can't walk." That was DS3.

Will write again soon. Wanted to get our thread back to the top.

Oh, yeah!! Traci ---you are in my embark picture!!

We just returned home today. What a great trip! My DH wasn't sure about cruises before this, but he's sold now. He was really impressed and we booked a 7 day for 2005 onboard.
I agree about the kid's clubs. My DD5 is very social and she went to the clubs a few times, but paged after an hour or two. She prefered the Mickey pool the whole trip. That also meant no alone time for DH and myself (our only regret). DD9 loved the kids club and DS12 just hung out himself. We passed him several times on Deck 9 eating pizza and ice cream. He loved the cruise and wants to go again.
It was great to see many of you on board. I kept my green mickey on for most of the trip. Peggy, sorry for meeting you so late, but better late than never. I enjoyed the visit.
Can't wait to hear everyone's trip reports!
Regards,
Laura

My DH, DD7, DD7 and myself loved the cruise - we want to do 7 night western next year but I think we will wait for Florida resident specials again. We loved all the shows! We were front row center for Disney Dreams and Hercules - it was magical! We were third row center for Golden Mickey's! So glad we showed up early - even my husband (who isnt Disney obsessed) loved the shows. I was disappointed in Nassau - lasted about 2 minutes at the straw market before I had to leave - it was either that or slap the next person who bugged me to buy something!! Just kidding :) Castaway Cay was beautiful - what perfect weather! The only sad thing that happened that day was someone stole some merchandise we had bought at the store. We forget the bag at our lunch table and when we went back about 10 minutes later to get it it was gone. No one turned it in. But we still had a great day. Nobody wanted to leave that last day - everyone was pouting. I hope you all had a great time. Cant wait to hear about your trips!

hi everyone,

Well it's back to reality for me today. Flew in yesterday and I have to admit it did feel good to be home. We had a great time on the cruise and did rebook a western on Oct 9th of 2004. - Anyone joining us?;) I am so sorry I missed so many of you:( . But did run into Partridge, Lulu, Pamco, and Laurarn several times. What a nice bunch!
PMelhorn - if your reading this....I think my DD14 Danielle might have done the Wild Side with your DN (kayak partners?) (were you all at Parrot Cay the last night? table 51 maybe?)

Planned way to many activities this trip so we were exhausted every night and didn't do any late night adult activities. Basically just the show and then to bed.

Highlights were:
Palo - First night, our server Marcelo was excellent.
Golden Mickey Show - I thought better than Disney Dreams
Atlantis for the Day - Kids loved this and weather was perfect.
Rich Purpura Show - DD14 loved this one
Clare from England in the 3-4 Club - WOW was she great to DD3
Table 31 in the dining room - Had porthole view of the sunset at Parrot Cay and Tritons! BEAUTIFUL

Have a great day,
Jennifer

Welcome back! We had a wonderful time with a minor, very minor, setback....DH(42) and DS(7) got seasick the first night. DH took Bonine but he still felt nauseous the whole night. DS couldn't eat a bite and we had to cut Animator's Palate short. DS just barely made it to the toilet before the dam broke. Did anyone else experience sea sickness? Could it have been that they hadn't recovered fully from Mission Spew...uh...I mean Mission Space at Epcot? We did that the day before the cruise and it did them both a number. After they slept it off they were fine the rest of the cruise.

We got back last night. I'm working on the mountains of laundry, mail, etc. The cruise was wonderful. Our secret porthole room was fabulous. I loved getting room service for breakfast and watching the water. The shows were great, and it was nice seeing so many characters.

I enjoyed meeting several of you! I'm sorry I was always on my way to somewhere else. I think if I had a third kid it would've been the death of me. It seemed like I was always having to drop one off at the lab at the exact same time I should've been at the club.

None of us felt seasick, but unfortunately, I seem to have contracted sea lice. Did anyone else get it? I'm hoping that's what this is and that it's nothing more serious.

Much as we enjoyed the cruise, it can't replace WDW in our eyes. I'd still love to do the 7 night cruise someday, but only if we can somehow still manage our 7 nights at WDW.

Surprisingly, I didn't feel at all sick on Mission Space. The teacups make me queasy, so I was prepared for the worst. It was a fun ride, but it's not something I'd be disappointed to have to skip.

The ship was definitely rocking the first night- oddly enough,DW was speaking to a CM about it, and he replied "the ship will stabilize by 10:30 PM....sure enough, it did....he said it's due to something about crossing the Gulfstream....

Welcome back, everyone!

We had the best time on the cruise! (our 2nd) We also had a great time in Cocoa Beach before and after the cruise!

We saw the Wonder sail back out again from Grill's on Thursday afternoon. Then we awoke Friday morning and saw the Magic returning from dry dock from our condo balcony! She blew her horn twice when entering the port.

We returned to Grill's to watch the Wonder depart again on Sunday! It was so exciting!

Our kids were like..."not Grill's again!"

We have booked a 7 night eastern next October on the Magic.

We need a countdown clock...

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to the boards. Came back home started right into basketball. Plus I'm in charge of concessions and team mom.
Added alot to an already full plate.
jenschaef1,
We were in Parrot Cay the last night of the cruise. I believe table 55. I will have to ask DN (Lori). She said the kayak she was in kept getting stuck.
We had a wonderful time can't wait to go again. We have not booked yet.
Laurarn,
I missed that rainbow but if you have a pic I would love to see. I enjoyed meeting you and talking to you even if it was late. Castaway Key was great. I do believe my husband contacted sea lice too. We stayed so busy it was hard to get out and meet everyone.

My kids loved the Mickey Pool.

By the way we were the first family in line.

My kids loved that.

I also seen the bride and groom and wdwgirls.

My DS13 always seems a little sick the first night but we had gotten a RX before leaving home so everything was okay.

We all just love the ship we watched it leave and we seen the Magic come in and go out. We stood on the shore at Jetty Park and waved. Plus, we yelled let us on. LOL

Glad to see everyone returned home safe.

Hi everyone!!

Sorry it took so long to post. We had a tons of stuff to do when we got home. Just now starting to put away the souviners.

Hope everyone had as great of a time as we did. We booked next year for our anniversary (Leaving on 7day 9/25)

I had lots of sea sick problems, never real sick, just not feeling real good. The last night was REAL BAD, I was getting tossed all over the hall and at one point almost fell out of bed in the middle of the night.

OK one last time before we fade off into the sunset....

Peggy, my DD Danielle was partnered with your DN in the Kayak...she laughed when I mentioned that she kept getting stuck. (I'm supposed to hand over the car keys to this one in 2 short years:rolleyes: ) Danielle visited your table the last night to give your DN her Aol instant messenger name. We were at table 31(I think) on the same rotation...very nice table right beside a porthole. Sorry We didn't get to meet you...we are going on Oct. 9th Western - would love to have you all join us:D

We may have to check into Oct. 9th western. Lori had a great time. That is so neat that they meet and teamed up. We will have to keep in touch. We have not rebooked yet. The Wonder is in at dry dock when the kids are out next fall. So I guess we will look at the Magic. Why not Oct. 9th. LOL!!! I would love to check out the Magic.

We will have to stay in touch!

Peggy:

LOL, The kids have off school for 2 weeks every Oct. Unfortunatley they are exactly the same two weeks the Wonder is in Dry Dock...Needless to say we booked the 7 day instead. DH is a diver so picked the 10/9 over the 10/2 eastern. He didn't have any time to go diving on this last cruise. Also I really, really want to do the Stingray thing in Grand Cayman. OK so how did I justify another cruise to DH (other than the fact that it was a lot of fun)...well just told him that having another cruise planned helped me stay motivated to go to the gym. He seemed to buy into that (ok he laughed) but I did get it booked!

Have a great day!:D
