Just wondering what the weather was like. Can you still swim at CC? We are thinking of going the first week of December next year. What about a verandah, should I get the Navigator or will we be ok with an open one?

Depends where you are.

Yes. You can also swim in Nome but I wouldn't recommend it.

should I get the Navigator

There might be rough seas. Better leave the Navigator with the Captain...

My family and I have been there twice in December, both times the first full week of the month.

The weather can be hit and miss at that time. The first time we went, during the land portion, it was very cool days in the morning and and late afternoon. There was just a short time in the afternoon where you could take off your jacket.

While on the ship it was cool winds and some rain for the first couple days. We were lucky; on the full day at sea it cleared up and was beautiful.

On the second cruise it was beautiful weather the whole trip. The water was cool at CC but we still got in and snorkled. We did get use to it shortly after getting in; but it was a bit of a shock at first.

Hope you have a great trip!

We did the first week of December in 2001 and it was beautiful weather and we swam in the pools and at CC and it was just perfect.

I guess we were lucky!

I agree - hit or miss first week of Dec. We went that week in 2002 and we had a couple of cold days in Orlando - (high 50s) and some rain. If you plan for it (bring a light jacket and rain gear - cheap ponchos from Walmart's recommended - they are in the camping section for a couple of dollars) it shouldn't be too bad at the parks.

When we went to Castaway Cay it was very windy and the water was rough. My kids are OK swimmers and they swam, but we had to really keep an eye on them. A reply from another poster previously said they were at Castaway Cay the week after us and it was beautiful. So, as I said, it is hit or miss. Can't beat the prices that time of year, though, if your kids can afford the time out of school.
