I know there is lots to do at World Showcase. I know that we've missed a lot in the two trips we've been there. Besides places to eat, what is your favorite thing to do in WS?

Madi100,

I never tire of watching The British Invasion perform in the small park at the rear of the United Kingdom. I remember and sing along with the 60's Beatles (and other groups) music, and it's fun to watch kids and older folks rocking along to these timeless tunes.

We love to go through the countries, taking in the ambiance. They put so much care and effort into creating these lands, that you sometimes feel transported right into their worlds! LOL Hard to explain.

We like to pick up a world showcase program, and see what times the different shows are. We then make a slow circle around the WShowcase lagoon to see the entertainment.

I particularly like to check out each countries garden areas. They're all a bit different and they're all quite beautiful...even when we go in the middle of the winter!

My favorite thing at the World Showcase is going into the Mexico pavillion and riding the boat ride!!

We like the Canada movie and the chinese acrobats. We also enjoy watching the lady in China who makes the candy. We love El Rio De Tiempo in Mexico. We usually ride that a few times. I love to shop and tour all the countries. We usually take 2 full days to explore and we have been many times. There is always something new to do!

Before you go, check Steve Soares' site for live entertainment schedules. Then, don't miss Off Kilter in Canada.

Great show!

My favorite part of WS is the evenings--once the sun goes down and all the pavillions are lit up, reflecting on the lagoon--beautiful!! I love sitting on the walls in Japan or Morocco and watching the Epcot sign on Spaceship Earth twinkle and listen to the music playing in the pavillion. I can't wait to see it again!! :)

World Showcase has a slower pace than the rest of WDW. I enjoy buying a glass of wine and a bagette in France and sitting at the little outdoor tables and watching people. Perfect to do around 5:00 when you're getting tired.

what is your favorite thing to do in WS?

I hope you don't expect me to choose just one thing!! ;) Epcot is my favorite park, I could never tire of going there. In the WS I love to see both Off Kilter and the British Invasion. I like to ride Maelstrom (did I spell that right? ;) ) and El Rio Del Tiempo. I love to see any type of entertainment they have at the American pavilion. They have concerts there during special times of the year, the CP takes place there during X-mas, and I have seen some great shows like Riverdance (yes I am admitting to enjoyng that, although I had to be somewhat dragged to the first show I saw because I didn't think I would like it) and Blast. I also love the food and drinks, the shopping, and the people watching. The only parade I ever "HAD" to watch took place there...Tapestry of Nations (which I liked a lot better than ToDream - which has since ended as well). But the best thing about the WS is when night falls and you can see SSE all lit up, children (and some of us adults too ;) ) with light up toys, and watching illuminations when all of the countries are lit up!!!

Norway, but I'm Lutheran. I like the ride, the kringles, the church, and the trolls. Nothing not to like.

We love the Flower and Garden Show. Every year they have a wonderful kid's garden with a pyramid the kid's can climb, ladybug releases and lots of fun things to do. My 6 year old DS looks forward to it each year

Norway, Mexico are my two favorite countries, both have great rides. The concerts behind England are wonderful.

The American Pavillion show always makes me cry, (my dh and ds both sleep thru it just like in the Hall of Presidents in MK)

At night it is breathtaking with illuminations. This year we are taking a cruise into the lagoon to watch illuminations from the water, I cant wait.

So many folks dont take the time to enjoy World Showcase. I hope you take your time and walk around it , there are so many wonderful things to see and do.

Enjoy!

Ditto what everyone has said- WS is my fav.! I'd just add if you're ready for a cool, relaxing break, the movie in France is lovely and go to the Japanese garden, it's an oasis - great place to stop and smell the roses! :smooth:

Epcot is my favorite park also. I agree with all the other posts.

I also like walking in the rose garden, the path between Imagination and World Showcase.

There is a butterfly garden right outside of Mousegears (towards Test Track).

I just have to buy a troll from Norway every visit.

And I too just like walking hand in hand with DH in the twilight around World Showcase.

and of course there's Figment, and Test Track and Food Rocks.

oooooooh cannot wait to back at Christmas.

:D

LoveMickey--I'm with you. I like walking in WS hand in hand with my hubby. It really is very romantic. I also enjoyed watching my 3 year old running around the America Pavilion and splashing in puddles.

Whenever I want a quick escape, I close my eyes and imagine myself at WDW! The scene is usually me and hubby, walking hand in hand around World Showcase lagoon at dusk or night-time with the torches all flickering and the pavilions lit up and Spaceship Earth glittering in the distance, while we share a Fiesta Margarita from the stand outside the Mexico pavilion.

We are always slow to leave after Illuminations. We wait for the crowd to thin and then stroll slowly, taking in the peaceful and beautiful atmosphere with practically no one else around - a little piece of heaven!!

We once made the mistake of each getting our own margarita - had to stop and sit down in Germany....LOL! Now we just share.

It's hard to say what our favorite thing to do is. Since we just LOVE the WS! Seeing all the countries. This past Nov. was our first time visiting during the Food and Wine Festival and I'd have to say that was the best time we have ever had at EPCOT! I was amazing to try all the foods you really wanted to and not have to go to a sit down dinner and pay MEGA bucks for it! I would love to go again at this time.
But that aside I have to say the one thing that gives me the most joy in the WS is going from kidspot to kidspot w/ my DD and watching her make her mask and then at the end of the day watching the twinkle in her eye when she gives her dreams and wishes to the fairy and then looks at me and says, "I wished to come back again Mommy"

Gotta love The British Invasion, Off-Kilter, Maelstrom, Impressions De France, Living Statues and Illuminations. And it's tough to beat a large Ringnes in Norway!

My wife and I enjoy the WS above all else at WDW.The street entertainment from the various countries is our favorite WDW passtime. Besides the fact that you are never far away from good food and drink the WS experience is relaxing and enjoyable. WS operates on a different clock than the rest of WDW.:)

I love the "Wonders of China" film. I am going to really miss it when it is replaced.
:(
I also love Norway and Mexico. The atmosphere is awesome. Last time we went, we took pictures of DD (4 at the time) in each country with a different hat on her head that was from that country. They turned out great!
WS is a close second to me with MK barely nudging it out.
Less than 6 months to go. Woo hoo!

WS is our second favorite place in WDW, next to AK! One of my favorite things to do there is grab some baklava from Morocco (my favorite pavillion) and watch a set of MOrockin! They are great! Last time I requested they do Sting's "Desert Rose" which they do so beautifully and they were gracious enough to accomodate!:)

Maelstrom in Noway, El Rio Del Tiempo in Mexico, American Adventure, Impressions de France (and everything in France in general, my favorite pavillion), the Masquarade characters in Italy, Illuminations, and seeing all the characters in their countries of origin.

World Showcase is my very favorite place in all of WDW!!! I like so many things but the boat rides in Mexico and Norway (my two favorite countries in WS), the World Showcase Players in the UK and the Living Statues in France (I think they moved over to Italy) are my favorites.

I think the World Showcase is a great place to take pictures. As bad a photographer as I am, I've gotten some great pics there and use them as the "background wallpaper" on my PCs. Everybody stops by my desk at work and asks where I got the pictures for my wallpaper. They just can't believe it's from Epcot. And they really can't believe I took the pictures!

But my absolutely favorite thing in World Showcase is the movie in France. But the Bakery in France is a very close second!

I have to check that out next trip - thanks PrincessTToo for the tip!

Can't really single it down to one particular thing that I like in World Showcase. I like to just take my time and spend the whole day going from country to country. Enjoying the food and the experience of just being there.

Boulangerie in France - Yum! That's not to be missed......

Hmmmm.....like others, Epcot is my favorite park - I love MK & they are really kind of tied - for different reasons....

I love the music - I could just drift from country to country, following the music....... The best time we ever had in WS, tho - was when my son was about 10 - I got him a passport & we went from country to country & talked with the CM's. He was having so much fun, he didn't even realize how much he was learning! It was also the first time I got him to spend an entire day in WS without begging to go on rides or asking me to hurry up.

I miss ToN - I really, really loved that. I would have rather kept ToN & gave up Illuminations (which I love also, but ToN was so moving!) I have some great memories of strolling around WS with my hubby at the F & WF & then sitting down to enjoy ToN & chatting with the other guests while waiting for the show. Sitting down during that music, however, is NOT an option for me :p

Right now it is the concert series at the American Gardens theatre. They have an Australian rock band (Brother) and they got me hooked on their music. It is truely unique with Bagpipes, harmonica, drums, guitars, synthasizer (sp) and something else that I don't know what it is called.

Epcot is my favorite park.

I really love to be there during the flower and garden festival. The displays are beautiful. I also enjoy the flower power concerts at the American Garden. Got to see Davy Jones. Yeah!!!!

Christmas is also a wonderful time for visit. The decorations and the Candlelight processional are just awesome.

I love to just wonder through the shops in the different countries.

Fiesta Margarita's (yum yum). ;)

Illuminations is just the best and I really miss Tapestry of Nations. You just can't beat watching ToN while sipping champagne.

I have to agree whole heartedly. Right after Illuminations, most of the crowd is busy trying to get to the exits while my DW and I just hold hands while walking around one last time to soak it all in. I also like the little area in the back of the UK Pavilion with the benches.

Having a pint of Harp at the Rose and Crown--we ALWAYS meet some Brits there and that makes it so special.

Also, dessert at the Kringala Bakery just before Illuminations.

World Showcase is also our favorite part of WDW. We are really looking forward to Food & Wine Fest again this year, and I vow to take the time to do WS "like the first time"--wander through all the countries and truly appreciate the details.

I think what makes WS so special is the diversity. You can see a mariachi band in Mexico, enjoy Chinese acrobats in China, ride a Norwegian boat in Norway (and smell the best perfume every, Laila), see the Living Statue in Italy (and get your picture taken with her), hear a jazz group in America (American Vybe, my very favorite), watch the candy lady in Japan, enjoy the great scarves and dresses in Morocco (or see Aladdin, that's always fun), watch the mime in France (Roland is a hoot at every performance; he's my second favorite act), be a part of the World Showcase players show (maybe they'll pick you to be King Arthur) or just sit and listen to the falls in Canada. Can you tell I just love WS? I love to leave WS an hour or so after Illuminations, when the park is empty. We walk back the the Beach Club, hand in hand, enjoying the music, lights and atmosphere. What a great place. Wish I was there.

The UK and Japan are my favorite countries for soaking up the ambiance. I like all of the shops in the UK, the flowers and watching the British Invasion; the fish and chips are good too!

In Japan I love the koi pond, the basic serene feeling you get while walking around, and the department store is awesome! IT's fun to watch people pick their pearl from an oyster.

The little train set up in Germany is very fun to watch, esp if you have children.

I enjoyed listening to American Vybe as well!

And get a pretzel in Norway! With the sliced almonds on it....yummmyyy

For me it's Illuminations. Since we'll be staying at CBR on our next trip, supposedly we'll be able to see it even on the days we don't go to WS!

World Showcase is definitely one of Disney World's gems. I like exploring the Mexico pavilion--there's just something so neat about being inside in the dark with the boat ride floating by. I just love the asmosphere. The American Adventure always brings tears to my eyes. It's so patriotic and moving. I also love visiting Epcot at Christmas. The decorations are wonderful, as is the tree lighting ceremony. Very moving. :)

If had to pick just ONE thing, I'd have to say Japan. Morocco is a close second, followed by Germany, Norway, and China.

DW just loves Mexico...eating dinner at San Angel is her favorite thing to do at WS.

To me Illuminations is awesome. My goal on my next trip is to see Illuminations 5 of the 6 nights I'm at WDW (1 nite off for "Wishes"). A little known place I like to see is the house in Morocco-it's near the back on the left. Also, in the back of Japan, also on the left (I think) is a little known art gallery, very quiet and air-conditioned.

We just got back:( Ready to go again:D

They didn't really "replace" the "Wonders of China" film, just modified the original. They added some new/updated footage and changed the sequence of the scenes. We saw it and, to me, it's at least as good as the original:D

As for my favorite thing to do at WS, it's got to be getting there :p

After that, everything!!!
