How Far Is It From Orlando to Miami???

I found a great deal on a RC cruise that leaves from Miami. BUT, that deal is shattered by the $1000.00 round trip airfare. (Yes, that is $1000.00 per person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) And I live in New Jersey. It is WAY cheaper to fly into Orlando....how long would it take to drive from Orlando to Miami??? Has anyone ever done this? Thanks!

P.S. Why do you think the airfare to Miami is so high? The dates we need it are 8/27 to 8/31/01.

Fort Lauderdale (FLL) is the alternate airport for Miami. Maybe a 20 minute drive, you can easily get transfers, buses, taxi to the Port of Miami.
I just checked www.qixo.com You can get Jet Blue JFK-FLL for 175.50 Spirit LGA-FLL for 183.50
I suggest you go to www.jetblue.com or www.spiritair.com . You can get a hotel near the airport the night before (call some will let you park for free and will shuttle you to the airport in the morning).

Delta JFK-FLL is $172

EWR-FLL between $197 and $240

I've also flow into West Palm Beach for trips to the Miami area, though it is a bit further away than FLL.

I found a roundtrip non-stop fare on Continental from Newark to Miami on your dates for $243 rt.

If you are willing to change planes in Tampa on the return flight, you can get $185 on Continental.
