Do you have any bits and pieces of "garden art" in your yard?
Here are just a few pics of our garden art. I guess I'll have to do this the new way, with a couple of posts.
A milkcan for the shed door, and a fairy with her own little perch, to blow pixie dust (read - Miracle Grow..lol) onto the flowers.

Just beyond the fairy, in the shade garden, DH has decided we need to decorate the fence with....tractor seats! The small latern hangs from the tree and is wired to come on at dusk.

Next...an antique cast iron fence post, and Uncle Nature, peeking out from the ferns and hostas. There is also a light that comes on at dusk to illuminate him.

How about some driftwood, picked up at the cottage.

Another fairy (also with a light behind her that comes on at dusk), soon to be surrounded (I hope!) by morning glories. We bought her in one of the shops in Great Britain, at Epcot.

Some of you Buds have seen this picture before. The potted flowers are different this year, and the Virgina Creeper has grown a lot since this pic was taken, but our garden gate that we designed and had made for us, is still my favourite piece of "garden art."

Uncle Nature??? Uncle Nature???? This is a new one on me! But I like him. He has a mischevious look about him - kinda what I would expect Gina to look like if she was an uncle! :p
I love your garden fairies, especially the one blowing the Miracle Grow Pixie Dust! The second one looks like a boy fairy. Which is okay. I have nothing against boys, ya know.
Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful pictures with us.
Oh - and why did you say you had to do this "the new way" and posted the photos in a few posts? Did I miss something around here?
Not a big garden are person. Although I have to agree I do love it. Especially when it's whimsical.
The pixie blowing fairy dust is awesome.
I think I need some garden art.

I wish I had a bigger yard and areas that I could put up a fence and make things look nice like that - very cool and love the garden art!!!! Also - ours would blow away - I've been very worried about losing Mickey and Minnie with the past few storms we have had but they seem to be sitting in place nicely.

I love your yard art. How's about a walk thru your garden post like Dixie's? I would love to see your gardens.

Here are a few pictures of my gardens.
This is my fairy tale section. Make way for ducklings, Mary, Mary quite contrary and a few other woodland creatures.

My real passion is whirligigs. I have nine of them so far. Some are old, some are new. A few are fabric (including a Shamu one I got at Sea World) and the rest are wood. The wood ones that accomplish a task are my favorites. The next ones I add will hopefully be the woman washing clothes and the woman churning butter.
On a breezy day my yard is a hub of activity! :)

Here's the lobster boat and the woodpecker ones. The boat rocks back and forth as the breeze turns the propeller. The woodpecker pounds his hammer on the nails of his house. Believe it or not, we've had several birds and even a squirrel try to get in to that 2 dimensional bird house.

These two whirligigs are my favorites. The man chopping wood may be the oldest one I have. The other was made by a man in Oregon who's creations appeared in a movie (sorry, don't remember the name of it). The bull you can see is chasing the poor farmer through the barn door.
Besides these, I also have a windmill, a bluebird, a hummingbird, a sea gull and the ever popular pink flamingo!

Tulirose, these are really MY pictures...lol :)
Really Roberta, the birds and squirrel tried to nest there? Maybe you should put up a sign....No room at the inn...;) :)
Your whirligig collection is very cool! Kind of a folk art thing going on.....:)

Mary, I don't know if you've ever read on this board about the terrible disease I have....
acreage envy/lot lust ..call it what you will...but I've got it bad!! ;) My backyard is so small, the whole thing would fit in Dixie's coreopsis patch! If you blinked, you'd miss the one or two pixels it would take to film it all. :)
BTW - Have I mentioned that I'd like to move??? :)

My gardens are a lot like my life... organized chaos! Dixie's set up is something that would be found in Better Homes and Gardens. Mine would most likely be put in Mad Magazine! But, yes, I'd be happy to post pictures. I'll need to wait until the weekend though. Tomorrow's looking like a wash out.
I'm not kidding about the birds trying to nest in that whirligig. It's happened several times. The squirrel tried to put his paw in the painted on hole. :p

Roberta your yard is lovely and very whimsical. My Granddaughter would love the Make Way for Ducklings, one year she dressed up as a duck and and walked in the Annual Make Way for Ducklings Parade in Boston. This is one of her favorite stories.
Thanks for sharing.

I love it! All of your garden art is so neat. Makes your gardens magical and unique. I'm garden art challenged. I have a few pieces I've grown attached to.
Here's a pic taken last year of my miserable pond man and behind him is one of two angel fountains. She's disfuntional this season I'll take some pics this weekend if I get her up and running.

I found another pic. This is our backgate and pergola that DH built by hand sans plans. Pretty artsy craftsmansy.

Oh, I like it! :) Everyone should have a water feature, they add so much to a garden/yard.
Thank you, Mom2E@Home, and I look forward to seeing more pics! :)
Great project, I love things like this.
Now I have to ask do you and DH get along when you are doing projects together? My DH and I are like CATDOG.

Hi Mamu,
My DH & I work pretty well together on projects. I come up with the idea, design and I do all the planting & weeding ect.. My DH does the major digging, rock moving, carpentry ect.. When I tell him I have a new idea or I want to change somthing he just says "here we go again" and rolls his eyes but I know that he likes the end result.
