I am going to Disney World for the first time next month. I have allergy and exercise induced asthma. I know that I can take my inhaler and neb with me into the parks. I am just curious if anyone has an idea of how much trouble I might have. I want to have a good time but I have to really pace myself and take care of me first. Are there any suggestions on how to plan my trip so I don't overdo it. I am planning on taking lots of water and have a misterfan to help keep me cool. I will take lots of breaks. I know it is hot and humid...two things that my lungs don't like too much...lol. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I have asthma, also. I was diagnosed about a year and a half ago, at age 30. I have been to DW several times, with no major problems. One thing I can think of: There is a scent on Spaceship Earth at Epcot (Rome burning) that could trigger you if you are very senstitive.
I think your plan should keep you trouble free. Enjoy your trip!

If you are staying at a Disney hotel and have dust allergies, call the special assistance number (407) 939-7807, and request a VIP cleaning. They will do extra vacuuming, wipe down all the walls, and change the drapes and comforters. There is no charge for this service.

My dd7 has bad asthma. Her allergy & asthma specialist told us to put her on her "yellow" action plan 2 weeks prior to going to WDW. Which is what we did. She had absolutely no problems when we were there. Even with the high humdity. We also didn't have any problems bring her meds and chamber into the parks. Have a great time on your trip!!

I have asthma as well, and my family goes twice a year.
Keeping hydrated is a big help. I also carry sucking candies, because I find that if I keep the back of the throat moist, I don't cough as much and trigger the attacks.
I carry my peak flow with me wherever I go, and I find that I actually puff higher at WDW than at home, even with all the exersion that happens. I guess less stress/less allergens makes a big difference. To give you an idea, lately 225 has been the best I've blown at home. In the past month, two different trips to WDW, I've hovered near 400 both times. Still have to make sure to carry all those inhalers, though.

My best friends Daughter's asthma was triggered by the Mold scent they use/grow in Pirates of the Carabean!!
